Actually, no, I disagree. Astarion has his reasons for many things he thinks and disapproves of, but some of them are just ... He doesn't like it when people are nice. He actively likes cruelty. Those are both true.

And yeah, you get why. He's well-written and his motivations are understandable! You can have a lot of very long and sad meta posts about how he thinks cruelty is natural and kindness is fake, but that doesn't remove his joy at cruelty and his distaste for kindness. Those things are still true. He can get better, yes. He does get better if you encourage him to. But he starts out as an absolute jackass.

Stop woobifying him fr. He's a piece of shit, even if he's a well-written one. Just because you understand him doesn't mean he's right or somehow the only sane person in the group. Cruelty is not intelligence, kindness is not a weakness. xoxo <3

one of the handy things being a word nerd/ex-debate kid taught me is that if you talk long enough and do enough fancy rhetorical backflips you can make a reasonably convincing argument for some absolutely ridiculous ideas, especially if your audience doesn’t have a level of baseline knowledge to lean back on

the reason this is handy because it also taught me that just because somebody sounds confident and seems informed doesn’t mean they aren’t cherrypicking data and thus, using the truth to lie their fucking faces off

#found this in my drafts looking for something else and i stand by it #there is Just Straight Up Lying and then there are damned statistics and all that #which can be used to so thoroughly skew the information being given it may as well be a straight up lie #and in some ways this kind of fuckery can be more damaging #saying “oh that’s just a lie” is easy for most people to understand if not always believe #saying “yeah so those facts are technically true but the presentation has rendered them meaningless” is harder for a lot of people

Look, I know Lisa’s behavior re: letting Dean, someone she hasn’t seen in nearly a decade, skulk around her child’s birthday party is best explained by him being The baby-daddy.

But here’s the rub: (1) the angels didn’t even sniff towards Ben and (2) Lisa is (relatively) honest. During the year Dean was actively with her, she would have likely told him. (Cause it’s no small thing.) Especially under The Truth curse where she ranted about the loss of loved ones/hunting. (My take: It’s a cheeky…red herring. Ben was hungry for a father-figure, and Dean’s relationship to him parallels Bobby Singer.)

So while it is a truth that would be kinder to Lisa’s behavioral health/motivations/etc, the latter plot points don’t support it. Yeah, I agree that it actually makes better sense as an initial explanation for her behavior in her intro ep. But these latter points transform her behavior’s root cause, leaning towards her as a (possibly chronic?) caretaker type of person.

We do see that she is caring! She’s got a caretaker persona from her first ep, driving her to help her neighbor. She’s a good friend! Because of the later plot points, we can assume this caretaker/gratitude aspect of her character is more the driver of her actions than hiding a paternity.

#i have a cousin who is a lisa #she’s always being uber caring in her off-time #she makes herself a part-time therapist for all manner of friends boyfriends etc #she’s so caring under she gets in The Situations where she has to put her foot down #but literally she is always in a Situation one way or another #she likes being a Helper #it’s how she’s wired #she can pick a damaged guy or girl out of a crowd to nurture it is Wild #my cuz is literally my bestie so i know i would get along w lisa #she over-extends herself #she’s a great orator when it comes to communicating boundaries #but there are so many C-minus lays that become Best Night of My life for her #and soooo many Best Years of My Life with Hreat Guys it makes me dizzy #she speaks with oozing kindness and with lots of exaggeration #like lisa #she swallows her real feelings to be The Cool Girl #she is chronically lonely #it’s a Type i know so well!#and i love her very much #she thinks bars and dangerous guys are So Hot but has no street smarts #she is more well off than us but always calling is in one of The Situations

Whew look at you go! Had a small problem with aphids a lil while back, but after a whole lot of diligence they were banished. Still have some of the damaged leaves visible but look at all the healthy new growth!

You may be trying to take over my desk, but I couldn’t ask for a better art companion. The moss in the planter is happy with the frequent watering and shade, but the impatiens is trying to devoir the terrarium moss now too

My oxalis is thriving still, too. But it has its own space above me and isn’t trying to reach out and say hello as much.

sorry for complaining about people getting fleetway super sonic wrong again but i dont really get the personality people give him thats like . silly goofy trickster type villain whos super manipulative and calculated and likes playing mind games and stuff . because from what i remember he was not doing much of that he just liked biting and scratching and killing and does it very impulsively also

#LIKE the big dramatic moment of him attacking sonic's friends and causing a bunch of damage #was literally caused by him thinking Hmm i think i will kill amy today. and then rushing to do it without a second thought #like this guy is NOT an evil mastermind he just takes over sonic's body and then beats up the first person he sees/thinks of #well i know the reason people get him wrong its because only like 5 people have actually read fleetway sonic #and the sonic fandom also kinda has a pattern of wanting sonic to have a messed up evil dark side #and taking the vague concept of either fleetway super sonic or dark sonic or werehog sonic #and making them into their ideal version of the sonics evil dark side concept even if it doesnt entirely fit #(could go on forever about how people do that with werehog . but this isnt about him. for once.)#fleetway super is probably the closest to what people want out of that sort of thing #but again theres still the issue of a lot of fan content involving him being made by people who have never read the comic hes from #and not really knowing what theyre talking about because of that

Thinking plotting scheming of pt, but make it diceyd/ungeons. I think it fits so well; the plot of dd is so cute and its easy to smush existing characters into that universe.

Peppino wishes for his debt to be cleared and for his shop to be successful. Pman wants him and his art to be famous and revered beyond his wildest dreams. Vigi wants Justice or whatever (but hes actually here to be nosy about the ins and outs of the show itself). Noise wants MONEY and FAME. Mysterious man who looks like peppino wants his own shop :). All the pt bosses are dd bosses before going ‘hey, u know what? This gig kinda sucks ass. If u think u can take on the big cheese im jumpin onboard w you’.

Thats all i got LOL i am debating if i still want lady luck to be the boss or let pizzaface be the big bad and just remove the existing dd characters entirely. Pizzahead would always be the jester, and therefore, always be your last die/teammate, which i think is cute heehee hes tired of being a silly little guy no one takes seriously! Hes got silly dreams too!!!! Hes a silly guy w dreams!!!
