!! just want to reassure you that if i ever took inspo i absolutely wouldn't lift anything directly from your writing, i feel exactly the same wrt being very personally attached to everything i create. even silly gorillaz fics are like a little piece of myself put out into the world lol... and i would be sure to credit you for inspiration and send it your way! while i really hope you find a renewed interest in gorillaz as a whole (both for selfish "immense enjoyment of your writing" reasons as well as completely understanding how it feels to become disillusioned with something you were passionate about,) my faith in the direction they're taking is... rocky at best lol. but it is what it is!

Ah, thank you! I'm sorry if that answer was presumptuous in any way, I just wasn't entirely positive the extent to which you were asking! I know some fandom writers are so... generous, or detached, or whichever flattering or unflattering way it comes across to you, and it's not unheard of for someone to just hand off stories to new writers who care more about finishing it. Honestly, observing other writers in general is such an enlightening yet isolating experience, as it assures me time and again that something is very broken inside of me, hahaha! No, but I understand that feeling entirely. It's shameful to think the things that have meant so much to me, projects which have felt incredibly personal and reflect something I can't otherwise voice are... silly gay Gorillaz fics. With hole. So just-- not things you'll ever share. (I've tried to do personal writing, er, something for more of a "literary magazine crowd" but struggled with getting my footing enough to move the ideas into words. Recently, very recently, I've been scratching out short thoughts on a specific aspect of my life... I've felt conflicted about sharing it here or not, as I think the only people who have any interest at all in my writing would be on this blog, but the subject matter is very much the opposite of toxic-masculine Studoc.)

Thank you, I really do appreciate you saying that. This is melodramatic, and the sort of fatalistic thinking I've been trying to be more mindful of, but at times my unhealthy relationship toward creating made me think of the quote about every person dying twice: for the first time when your body dies, and for the second time when someone stops saying your name. There's just always been something unbearably sad about the idea that you could love with your whole heart for 1, 5, 10, 20 years, and yet one day it just stops forever. It stops existing in anyone's mind, it stops mattering, it is one of a thousand-billion sparks from the beginning of human storytelling that died for the last time ages ago. I don't think that's a good way to think, for the record, haha. But it's nice to me to think someone out there cares if I ever write again, someone would want to share that world with me. Whether I ought to indulge it, it is a lovely thought. I'm glad we could know and care for one another in whatever capacity we were able to.

Anyway! I'm sorry, we're returning to true peak tothedarkdarkseas form here, which entails me using asks as therapy sessions. I would love to see anything you create, even if you ended up moving on outside of Gorillaz! I am so grateful for you reaching out, it really does this rickety old heart good. Sadly I do share your reservations about where we'll go from here, but I think some time away from the burning core of it has done me some favors in... numbing me a bit to the disappointment, haha. (Nice way to think of something, right?) As you said, it is what it is! C'est la vie!

So I’m here to answer your call for inspiration… hopefully lmao. I was re-reading your lumberjack Bucky headcanons and one that I randomly love is Bucky with a ponytail for some reason, we were so robbed of that by marvel 🥲. Anyway, the idea I had was Bucky normally only pulling his hair up into a ponytail when he wants to make out and/or eat the reader out so that it stays out of his face and the reader has a nice handle to hold on to. And sometimes he puts his hair up on purpose and makes a show out of the fact that his hair is in a ponytail to tease the reader. Maybe this could spark some inspiration? If not that’s 100% ok lmao

He had tied it up. That was the signal. Plain and simple. If Bucky had his hair up you were going to be coming. No if's or but's about it. So why then was he taking his sweet ass time chatting to Steve at the bar about work or sport or something. Who cares, he wasn't buried between your legs and that's all that mattered.

Deciding to take matters into your own hands you sidled back up to Bucky, smiling along at whatever nonsense the two men were talking about. Your hand traced up Bucky's toned back until you subtly latched your fingers onto his ponytail and tugged ever so gently.

His arm reached around your waist pulling you into his body and he pinched your hip. A little reminder to behave. But still he didn't stop blathering. So you pulled again, a little harder, pleased to see a little wave of goosebumps on Bucky's neck. 'Haha gotcha' you thought as his grip on your waist tightened.

"Ok punk, we'll catch up tomorrow" said Bucky, finally, and you gave Steve a big hug goodbye. Your heart raced as you and Bucky left the bar and walked over to his pickup and you were full of excitement when he abruptly yanked you around and pinned you against the side of the truck.

"What's gotten into to you babydoll?" He muttered pressing kisses to your neck and pushing this thick denim-clad thigh in-between your legs, allowing you to press your aching heat against him.

"You did the hair thing" you pouted, stroking his beard with your thumbs and pulling his face into a sweet kiss. He chuckled as you continued to pepper his face with kisses, rubbing your heat against his jeans.

"What's the hair thing sweetheart?" He said, lifting the hem of your dress, providing him access to run his rough hands over your soft hips and tummy. You huffed and ground down again on him.

"Buckyyyy" you whined, making him chuckle again. "When you put your hair in a bun it means.....well you know..."

Oh he did know, but he was going to make you say it. He wanted to hear it from your pretty lips and then he'd give it to you.

"Hmm? What baby, what does it mean?" He growled as he felt your wetness seep into his jeans. You huffed again and pressed your forehead into the crook of his neck.

"When you put your hair up....it means your going to do something... Y'know, you...you make me come. You do it all the time, so you have to do it now" you felt almost like crying as the need for him began to rise to a head.

"Well if that's the rule..." He said pulling the door to the truck open and hoisting you inside "...who am I to break with tradition?"

You fell back on the long bench seat, as Bucky made quick work of pulling down your panties and bringing your dripping heat to his face. "You better hold on baby" he said as his big arms wrapped around your thighs. You fingers sank into his long locks and you pulled at his ponytail as his lips made contact. Your whines filled the cab as his tongue traced your folds until he wrapped his lips firmly around your clit.

Your back arched off the seat as he sucked harshly, fingers gripping at his hair and you cried out his name. "This all for me sweetness?" he growled as his finger dipped into your cunt, and his lips returned it's assault on your sensitive clit. "Yes Bucky, oh fuck yes, just for you" you moaned, chasing your orgasm as he added another finger and gently stroked at your most sensitive parts, creating an almost unbearable tension in your tummy.

You slowly came back to the present, Bucky kissing your thighs before pulling your dress back down. You sat up and wrapped your arms around his shoulders, finding his lips waiting to be kissed by yours.

You heard a surprised noise as you both turned to see Steve walking to his truck in the parking lot with a shit-eating grin plastered on his face, "I thought you two left already?"

All you could do was bury your face and giggle into Bucky's chest as he told Steve to mind his own god damn business or he would wipe the grin off his face. With a few more "punks" and grumbles you waved at Steve as he pulled away bringing Bucky's attention back to you. "Take me home Lumberjack, I'm not done with you yet"

Q : whats your biggest influence that sounds nothing like your own music

MB : we love PC Music even though we don't really sound like it

Q : out of everything you’ve made, what song is your all-time fave/which one are you the most proud of?

MB : We think Set Me Off is super underrated, but usually our fave is whatever the newest thing we write is

Q : Did Matt take up that offer at the DMV?

MB : hahaha NO

Q : whats the song you guys most had trouble with?

MB : hmmm probably move slow, we re-did the melody and production a few times before we settled on the disco vibes

Q : What made you guys decide to go for shorter song lengths, or was it somethjng that just happened naturally?

MB : We got tired of waiting so long to release official singles, wanted to do low-pressure quick songs that we could get out to our fans sooner!

Q : So like, where’s Voc pop on Spotify?

MB : hahah does anyone actually like that song?! It was the first pop thing we ever made and it was more of a learning experience for us than an actual song to us

Q : are you planning to tour europe anytime soon?

MB : we'd love to tour just need the right opportunity

Q : what's both of your favourite songs right now? also have you heard any of Caroline Polachek's music

MB : Actually one of our favorite songs right now is Door! Another is Ever Again (Robyn)

Q : one more: do you have any plans for an album in the future? Or are you just going with the flow

MB : yes we have album plans! Maybe next year

Q : Did you have a specific inspiration for Neon's music video, or was it just the whole vaporwave aesthetic in general?

MB : that video we actually didn't do ourselves, we found that archival footage of the couple and had that intro sequence sone but we sent it to our talented friend Matt Lewis who added the whole vaporwave element, we really weren't too aware of that whole world at the time! But it really worked well with Neon

Q : do you like the band Superorganism?

MB : haven't really listened to Superorganism, we'll check them out!

Q : Only thing I don’t like is the redbone cover to be honest with you and I’ve gone through your YouTube and soundcloud

MB : lol we respect that

Q : I really like your Redbone cover! What other songs would you like to cover?

MB : we always struggle to think of covers, was thinking of sourcing suggestions on Instagram so maybe we'll do that soon

Q : What is thr most difficult song of the creative process for you guys, is it, say, the lyrics, the melody, the mixing?

MB : probably lyrics, it's not that it's HARD but I get very particular about it and sometimes a little slow haha - Mica

Q : i just have to say, i think i've streamed your one song Only If You Want It a million times. it's such a bop and i think it's a great song to introduce people to your work. what was your inspiration for that song and the retro style music video?

MB : yes we think OIYWI really encapsulates what we're aiming to do musically, really glad you like it! Spice Girls, specifically Say You'll Be There, was a huge inspo. We really love that video but didn't have a plan for it AT ALL when we filmed all that footage of me with our vhs cam hahah so it was a mess but then we figured out the word art aesthetic and the bugs and it all came together

Q : How does it feel to be the highlight of my terrible day? Because once I saw the tweet I felt quite a bit better, plus my magbae playlist keeps me calm

MB : Thank you!! We made that cover ourselves so means a lot, and there's a little nod to each mini song in it which is fun

Q : have you ever covered songs that you decided against releasing?

MB : yes lol how did you know?? we did really weird attempts at promiscuous girl and rod stewart's if you think i'm sexy that will never see the light of day

MB : best/worst thing we've encountered in the music industry: one of the best things is finding our stuff being posted on r/popheads, we used to have to do it ourselves hahah, worst thing is dealing with shady industry people

Q : Any plans for shows in the Los Angeles area by the end of the year?

MB : re LA shows: we're working on it! probably yes

MB : we started making music back in high school in a rock band and it just evolved from there. I (mica) never thought I would really do this until i had to graduate college and was like wait!!! I don't want a real job!! // Matt always knew he wanted to work in music

Q : magdalena bay, how would you guys describe your songwriting process?

MB : it's pretty different for each song, only thing that stays the same is that we write lyrics after melody, not all writers do that! but a song can start with a beat or chords or sometimes melody, from either of us!

Q : ooh I actually have one more question! what song of yours has the most meaning to you? whether it’s bc of the inspiration behind it or something else

MB : probably some of the unreleased stuff, but you'll hear it soon! a song called airplane is prob the most personal to me (mica)

Q : what artist(s) would you collab with, if you could pick any?

MB : soo many but Rina Sawayama is near the top of our list

Q : If you could travel back in time and impart one piece of advise to your early teenage selves, what would it be?

MB : START MAKING POP SOONER

Q : So do you sit down for hours and work on thinking of melodies or do they come to you randomly and you're like "whelp, time to record"

MB : both definitely happen, iphone voice memos are key

MB : blackpink-level music videos

MB : We've just started playing video games and love zelda twilight princess but we're dumb and bad at it and are always stuck lol

Q : there are several users here in popheads who are trying to get into the music industry, if you have one tip you can give them, what would it be?

MB : try to do everything you can yourself- from music production to videos to graphics you will learn a lot and be less reliant on other people!! and you'll save money haha

MB : definitely ag cook, Sophie, grimes, toro, also get a lot of influence from the classics like max martin, quincy jones, pharell

MB : Maybe that we started music playing in a progressive rock band (the opposite of pop) also matt is an amazing chef and mica is argentinian??

MB : BLACKOUT we listen to it every day
