Sign the petition: Stop forcing women and girls into sex for water!
Imagine being so desperate for water, you’d do anything to get it.
Anything.
Experts estimate that tens of thousands of women and girls around the world -- and maybe many more -- face this situation every single day.
And corrupt water vendors in Kenya are taking advantage in the worst possible way, forcing them into sex for just a few litres.
Children are being abused, women’s lives shattered. They have no choice.
But here’s the really crazy thing: since there’s no law against this vile exploitation, it’s completely legal!
We could change that. Kenyan women’s rights groups say the government is considering a law to make this abuse illegal – and that massive show of global pressure could make all the difference.
They’re asking the Avaaz community to help – let’s lend our voices to some of the poorest, most vulnerable people on Earth, and demand an end to sex-for-water abuse. When our call is huge, we’ll deliver our voices to Kenya’s government.

Friend on FB:
"I saw a post today where someone was trying to charge their housecleaner for using the kitchen sink to fill their water bottle. WTAF? I can't imagine it.
Sometimes I forget that not everyone was raised with a specific and strong cultural taboo against refusing a request for water. In fact, the way I was brought up, giving someone water when they ask for it such a deep principle that it overrides other rules. For example, if I, a younger and mostly able-bodied person, asked my 95-year-old arthritic grandma for water, she would get up and fetch it for me, despite the blatant rudeness of my request. Water is life."

Dozens of employees at primary and secondary schools in Nunavik are sounding the alarm about the region's deteriorating water supply, saying the situation is putting their students at risk, a union report seen by Radio-Canada shows.
Thirteen of the 14 towns in Nunavik don't have an aqueduct or sewer system. People there normally rely on tanker trucks to supply drinking water and remove wastewater.
But in recent months there have been supply interruptions because of broken infrastructure, a lack of trucks and a worker shortage, problems that were worsened by the pandemic and a harsh winter last year.
As a result, Nunavik residents have had to boil water and to do without running water to wash or flush their toilets.
Employees at the Kativik Ilisarnilirniq school board, most of them Inuit, denounced the poor quality of life in a report written by the Centrale des syndicats du Québec (CSQ), one of the largest trade unions in the province.

A power outage at a treatment plant caused a serious issue in Houston--such that people were told they are under a boil order.
A power outage. At a water treatment plant.
Texas' grid is shit. Just like the water in Houston right now.
And I know a lot of politicians are like "it's too expensive to pay for upgrades and fixing infrastructure!" so what... people should just get sick and die? Fuck you.
But if you want my opinion... my humble opinion... about where you could get a shitload of money?

Of course, this is why they haven't fixed it in the past. Reeves and state Republicans have been denying funds for years, waiting for the system to fail so they can privatize it. And here we are.

I can’t stress enough how water should be FREE and everyone should always have access to clean and safe water especially now when it’s this hot!

Reminder that in Gaza alone, around 90-95% of the water supply is contaminated and unfit for human consumption...
If you dont believe israel is capable of this evilness (that they've been enforcing for OVER 50 YEARS) read it for yourself, from AMNESTY INTERNATIONAL

You may have heard that we are boycotting Kelloggs, so here’s an easy visual of brands that they own.
Why the boycott? The CEO of Kellogg’s recently stated that if Americans are struggling with Inflation prices, they should eat cereal for dinner.
Kelloggs was also founded by Dr. John Harvey Kellogg. He was a seventh day Adventist who advocated that a bland diet would help decrease sexual desire. He supported eugenics and advocated for “unfit” people to be sterilized. So, like, he was not a good guy.
And here’s your extra reminder that we never support nestle co.
Nestle exploits cheap labor, does not practice fair-trade labor, and has been known to use child labor. Nestle does not believe that access to water is a universal human right. They make profit off bottling water, even at the point of local water scarcity, decimating communities.
