Tango couldn't remember the last time he slept.
He couldn't remember the last time he'd worked on a redstone project either.
That was irrelevant! He was perfectly fine. There was a reason he was down by Gem's docks. Right?
"Tango?"
Speak of the devil and she shall appear! That was Gem herself, pulling Tango around. He didn't want to, there was something about the--
"Tango. Tango, hey." Gem forced him to meet her eyes, "Don't tell me you've been possessed again. After last time? C'mon man, you said you'd. . . do. . ."
Tango didn't know what Gem was talking about. He wasn't possessed. Tango knew what that felt like and that wasn't this.
Gem got an odd look in her eye, before latching her hand around his wrist and dragging him back up the path towards his house. But--
That wasn't home anymore.
Not when his place was down by the water-- in the water-- he was waiting for someone to come back--
"No-- Tango-! Ugh." Gem planted herself between Tango and the mists over the water-- the place where he had promised to be.
Tango found himself sitting at the edge of the dock. There was something tied around his wrist, but he didn't mind. The tips of his boots were dragging in the foam.
"Tango, homie-buddie. It's freezing out here, you should come inside." Skizz had rested a hand on Tango's shoulder.
"Can't you hear it?" Tango asked, breathless as it came back.
The song was promising him the answers to everything. He just had to be here to hear it. To decipher it's song.
"Hear what?"
Tango was fighting against the pull of hands, trying to take him away. His friends-- not friends anymore-- they wanted to take the music for themselves-- "I promised! I promised--"
His mouth was full of the taste of blood. Blood and cotton and he couldn't hear the rush of the waves anymore. He was too warm. There were voices nearby.
"How is he?" Oh, Tango recognized that voice, that was Xisuma.
"Still unresponsive. Is Ren-?" That sounded like Impulse.
"The same way."
Impulse sighed, "He's too quiet. Tango's never been this quiet."
"I'm listening." Tango had to listen otherwise he might miss the music.
He couldn't remember who the music went to, but-- It was someone he needed to be there for. How long had it been? He needed to get back to the water.
Tango was on his feet, trying to push past the arms holding him back. There was a snarl pooling on his tongue, frustration sparking deep in his bones. He needed to get back to the water.
He yelped as someone slammed into his back, knocking Tango off his feet and into the grass. He writhed, kicking, his tail lashing and sparking as he struggled to get free. There was nothing in his inventory. He had nothing but his hands and his fire and the grass around him and they were closing in--
Tango was floating in the bay, Gem's conduit letting him breathe like he should be able to. His heartbeat was pounding in his ears, his fire was sputtering, angry about being underwater.
Well too bad fire, cause Tango was right where he was supposed to be.
As evidenced by who was in front of him.
The someone, the who he'd promised to be there for when he returned.
The song wrapped around him like a blanket, smothering the chill from the sea and guiding Tango close. He didn't quite remember where he'd met them before but he knew that this was the right thing.
Until he was out of the conduit's range.
Until the water that was so welcoming before now choked at his air and bit at his warmth.
Until the song that'd promised him everything suddenly disappeared.
A hand hauled Tango out of the water by the back of his shirt, dumping him in a sopping heap on the sand. He spit up half the ocean by the time he was able to breathe again.
He was hearing words, but he couldn't figure out what Skizz was saying. Or Impulse for that matter. The music was gone though.
It had abandoned him and now?
Tango didn't know what to do next.

Tumblr’s “Vore” Tag and My Thoughts On The Matter...
I still can’t believe this site would nuke the main vorey tag, to begin with. I came to find the fandom here after 17 December 2018, but to realize it’s main tag is damn gone?!
Thanks, Tumblr, thanks a damn lot.
You suck. Royally.
To the best of my knowledge, the site worked just fine with an ability of some blogs to mark themselves as mature. There is a saying “If its’t not broken, don’t go around fixing it”. It is especially maddening to realise just how dirty this site has done by the “vore” tag and the community. Censuring the tag as if all of it was mature?! Thanks to their damn effort, they just lumped together both the sfw and the mature parts of the community as one. I am seething. Not there is anything wrong with the more mature part of vore or its adherents, but normally artists filter their pr0n and normal people black-list tags they don’t wish to find by chance, so the system worked.
I just find it deeply presumptions that some higher ups would just dare do something like this and censor a tag that is not inherently sexual too - the sfw vore community is a serious thing, just as valid as the mature part of it. The vore community is not inherently a sexual fetish; for others, it’s merely an area of interest not rooted in sex.
It just sucks that they asked for no community’s opinion, made their own cursed changes anyway, broke this site and the tag system and didn’t fix a damn shit in the end. It also sucks to realise the sfw part got treated as if it was n/ sfw, and who is at fault is the management that broke if not perfect but a decently workable system.
Thus far, my personal beef with them:
1. The site can bloody mark your blog as sfw and you wouldn’t know it, nor would this cursed site even do something as courteous as notify you.
2. It can erroneously flag posts; some posts get further flagged-flagged so that not even the original creator/poster can view them or have them unflagged.
3. If you write a single wrong word - I shit you not - in your blog’s description, the site’s gestapo bot will hide your blog from the main search system. This happened with both my vore blog and my other non-vore, perfectly sfw art account. To this day, I cannot see it in search by tumblr blog name. I will see just how quick the staff fix the issue… or not.
This is just some sin count of this site’s maddening new changes… for the worse. The joke’s on them - people have adapted and don’t plan to take their shit.
Enough said.
- Vorelicious
P.S. The first draft of this post even got censured. This site even silences opposition. How dare anyone disagree with them or not think their decisions are good ones?! lmao This site is maddening sometimes, I swear.
P.P.S. The hashtags used to have a more mature tag, but until I removed n/ sfw, my post didn’t even APPEAR under newest. In other news, we cannot even USE, let alone TALK about the more mature topics. Thanks, Tumblr. I hate it.

To be completely honest, Martyn wasn't too excited about the idea of leaving Jimmy alone with their guest overnight. Not after the firecracker of a mer had almost killed him.
Even though Jimmy was normally the one who got the mer they rescued to chill the heck out, they'd never had one as openly aggressive as Firecracker. Sure, they'd had aggressive mer before, but normally they only postured instead of outright attacking them.
But then again, most of the mer they handled were either still injured, or young enough that they trusted Jimmy easily.
Scott had gone to check on them, and Jimmy had insisted on not leaving their guest to wake up alone. From what Scott had explained to him, Martyn could almost understand the mer's reactions.
Apparently he'd thought that Martyn had killed the man he'd dropped while rescuing Firecracker. The red mer had gotten himself attached to the marine rescue workers, which wasn't that surprising. Mer tended to 'pod-bond' with anything that gave them enough attention. They were surprisingly human, that way.
Martyn was at least glad that Lizzie was going to be here soon, so she could check Scott's bites. If her messages were anything to go by, she'd be here around noon tomorrow.
But for now, Martyn needed some sleep.
He woke up with the sun that morning, as was his body's cursed habit. He had too much to check up on to let himself have a lie in, so up Martyn got.
First off, he went to check on Jimmy, who'd spent the night in the pool with their guest. The two of them were still asleep, by what Martyn could see, curled up like he often found Joel and Jimmy whenever the former visited with Lizzie. Hopefully adding a new mer into the mix wouldn't trigger another fight.
Then Martyn had to go make breakfast, and make sure that the guest room was presentable. After that he checked his messages, making sure there weren't any other mer that they'd need to go find.
Thankfully it didn't look like it.
Lizzie sent him a text telling him they were ahead of schedule, and that she and Joel would be there in about two hours.
Welp, time to go get make sure Jimmy and Firecracker were awake. He wanted to make sure he got food into them before Lizzie and Joel got here. Cause heaven knew that Jimmy would forget to eat, and Martyn didn't want to deal with a hangry mer.
When he stepped out to the covered pool, he was almost surprised to hear an actual civil sounding conversation going on. The two mer were talking, the whistles carrying up to Martyn.
He couldn't completely understand it, but most of it seemed to be the new mer telling Jimmy about-- a rock?
Well, Martyn was sure Jimmy would tell him later if it was anything important.
Martyn used his own whistle to get their attention, it was one that Jimmy had taught him. Jim said it meant something like: "Hey, over here!" but it usually ended up making both Scott and Jimmy snicker at him when he used it to get their attention. But hey, it worked better than just yelling at them when they were in the water.
The conversation in mer stopped, and a moment later, Jimmy popped up out of the water.
"Hey Martyn." He grinned, giving a little wave.
"Have you eaten yet today?" Martyn asked, walking over to crouch at the edge of the pool. Jimmy's grin turning sheepish told him everything he needed to know, "I'll bring you two some food. If you can get him to come up and eat it, that is."
"Sounds good." Jimmy nodded, before perking up a bit, "Oh! I got his name, by the way. It's--" Jimmy vocalized a mer name that Martyn couldn't hope to repeat-- "But he says his 'human name' is Tango. That's what his friends at the marine rescue called him, at least."
"Alright. Tango it is, then." Martyn returned the nod, "Oh, and Lizzie said she's on her way. She and Joel will be here in about two hours, if the traffic holds out okay."
Martyn couldn't help but smile at the happy little wiggle Jimmy did when Joel's name came up. It really was a shame they didn't get to hang out more often.
Martyn talked with Jimmy for a little bit longer, apparently Tango had chilled the heck out once he'd gotten some cuddles and spent some time with Jimmy-- which was kinda weird if you asked him but Jim said it was a mer thing and who was Martyn to argue on that front.
Speaking of Tango, the other mer seemed to be watching them from the depths of the pool. He wasn't holding an aggressive stance, it seemed more curious than anything. Maybe spending some time talking to Jimmy was all he needed. Hm.
It wasn't long before Martyn's legs started to hurt from him being crouched for so long, so he stood up and stretched, "Let me go grab some food and I'll be right back, okay?"
"Okay." Jimmy echoed, watching as Martyn walked back inside.
It was practically routine for Martyn to grab a bunch of food for Jimmy and Tango, waving hi to Scott where he was working on his own laptop, updating him on the situation, and walking back out to the pool. It surprised him to see that Jimmy had actually gotten Tango to surface. The mer was staring at him with his red eyes narrowed, fins pinned back in annoyance.
It was moments like these that made Martyn wish he was more fluent in mer. The language barrier was a rough one, that was for sure.
The rest of the day went pretty well, all things considered, at least-- until Lizzie and Joel arrived. Joel was the one to clock Scott's injuries first, wrinkling his nose and opening his mouth to get a better taste of the air.
"Is that-- blood? Which one of you is hurt?" Joel narrowed his eyes at Scott, noticing the bandages on his arm, "Scott what happened?"
"Tango bit me. A couple times, actually." Scott shrugged.
"Tango?" Lizzie asked, tipping her head.
"That's the name of the mer we picked up a couple days ago." Martyn explained. "He's-- kind of an jumpy one, that's for sure."
"Jumpy is one way to put it. The twerp almost murdered Martyn." Scott huffed.
Martyn face-palmed, letting out a sigh. This is just what he didn’t want. They didn’t need any more fights. And if Martyn knew Joel, the next words out of his mouth would be--
"Did he hurt Jimmy too?"
"No. Jimmy is fine. He's out in the pool right--" Martyn didn't have time to even finish his sentence before Joel was throwing off the blanket covering his tail and the T-shirt he'd been wearing, wheeling his chair through the house and over to the back door.
Martyn sighed, running a hand through his hair before he moved to follow. "Lizzie, why don't you check Scott over first, and then come out to look at Tango when you're done?"
It would be bad enough with Joel getting overprotective of Jimmy and himself. If Lizzie was out there while this happened?? Martyn hadn't yet seen what a real fight between two competent adult mer looked like, and he never wanted to.
If nothing else, this would be interesting.

Etho couldn't have been more relieved and frustrated when the end of session was called.
At first, he'd thought that his task would be easy. Well. Not easy, but certainly doable, especially by him. If there was ever a good time to be an enderman hybrid, it was now. Etho would be able to feel the eyes on him, even if he wasn't able to see them.
The problem started when Tango and Skizz came by to ask to use his crafting table. At first he just thought it was the weight of their eyes on him-- the way his body felt heavier-- but as the session progressed, so did his affliction.
"Hi Etho." Gem's voice made him spin about, though it wasn't quite as fast as he normally would have, "Can I buy your door?"
Etho first noticed the tingling in his feet when he was helping Joel and Bdubs with their double zombie spawner. After it was all dug out, Etho found himself pinned between the gazes of the two men, unable to move, unable to leave the spawner box, the water gently lapping at his boots.
"Just keep doing what you're doing." Etho tried, attempting to difuse the situation so Joel would look away.
"I'm trying to Effo, but you're in the way--" Joel nudged him aside, placing the last few blocks.
Etho had to block Joel's line of sight, then Bdub's to make it so he could move again-- His feet had pins and needles after that whole ordeal, once he'd finally managed to dig into the wall and up and out. It was like-- the longer someone looked at him, instead of getting that anxious paranoid ender itch like he normally did, it felt like his feet had been too heavy to move. Like he'd been glued to the spot.
Maybe he should tell Grian about it. This was supposed to be a death game, but the lore wasn't supposed to go so awry. The secret keeper was just a silly little statue-- some set dressing for the drama, it was even hollow inside! Not-- surely it was just his imagination. The dumb statue didn't hold any power. He didn't need to worry Grian with this--
Etho resolved to just ignore it.
Surely it would go away the moment he handed in his task. It wasn't a problem that the longer someone was looking at him, the heavier his body seemed to get, and the more the numbness started to creep in.
It'd started with his feet, slowly turning them to stone in his boots, then it crept it's way up his legs. It was taking longer for the feeling to return, each time he was out of sight.
Nothing to be alarmed about. Just a little bit of casual petrification.
Every person on the server was his own personal Medusa, only able to turn Etho to stone.
It went faster the more people were looking at him, too.
After the incident with the heart foundation and rigging the vote, Etho found himself stuck on the bridge-- Grian and Tango and Skizz and Bdubs were all looking at him-- the stone had managed to get up to his waist, that time. It'd started on his fingertips too, clutched around the reigns of his skeleton horse.
It was terrifying, to look down at your own tingling fingers and realize the off-gray color slowly seeping away had been his own flesh.
He was glad the horse was already (un)dead, because with Etho's predicament, he surely would have crushed a flesh and blood one.
Pearl nabbing him with her book was the worst thing that could have happened. Thankfully he'd had that invisibility potion, but unfortunately, he'd only had one. Etho hated the taste of it-- sour and metallic, the bitter aftertaste tempting him to chase it down with some milk. But the freedom from the stone was worth the nastiness. Even if it had only been for a short while.
It had been like his own personal hell--- Everyone staring at him, the book burning a hole in his pocket, the dread about what might happen if the stone reached his heart--
The clumsy way he'd had to stumble up the ladder to Joel's tower, hands and legs shaking and weak. Thankfully he was able to get up and out of line of sight, and Grian had his task figured out, so he took a short breather up on the tower, shaking the feeling back into his limbs before downing a slow falling potion in one shot, the musty bubblegum flavor coating his mouth.
Whatever happened, it would only take two minutes. The session would be over and he could press the button and this would all be over.
He'd failed.
At least, he failed giving Pearl back her book. He'd succeeded his own task.
But-- those last few minutes before he pushed the button.
Etho didn't want to admit it, but he would probably have nightmares about those minutes. The stone had been so quick to take him, with all of the eyes on him--
As his arms locked up and the cold numb started to spread up his shoulders to his neck, no one noticed the growing discoloration until it was too late.
"Grian--" Etho managed to choke out, tipping his head back in an effort to keep his head above water-- but it wasn't water.
The last thing Etho saw before the stone overtook him was Tango's panicked face, and Grian turning around to see what the trouble was.
It was like dying.
He was suffocating, like he'd been buried alive in sand, but he couldn't move. It was freezing in powdered snow. It was choking on nothing in the void.
But the damage ticks never came. He couldn't feel the pain of it, even though he wanted nothing more than to gag on the stone filling him up solid like a statue. Like the weeping angel the task had turned him into.
Etho couldn't tell what was going on around him, other than the feeling of eyes on his stone skin, and the gentle brush of someone checking his code. That had to be Grian, surely.
Grian would be able to fix him.
Etho had no idea how long he was stuck as a statue, but the only thing he could see was the symbol of the secret keeper, burnt into his vision like looking at the sun too long.
The only sound was the whispers. Etho couldn't understand the words, but he knew the voices were laughing at him.
He couldn't breathe, and the only taste in his mouth was of the cold stone filling it completely.
But he could feel, and that was even more terrifying. Every touch, every warm hand on his stone skin felt like it was lava. He wanted to pull away, but he couldn't. Etho couldn't speak, he couldn't move, he was helpless. Logically he knew the others would keep him safe, would keep the mobs away if it turned to night-- but some part of him, or the voices hissing secrets and lies into his ears made him doubt.
What if he could never turn back?
What if-- even after everyone stopped looking-- the stone never receded? What if this was permanent? What if the glitch-- surely it had to be a glitch-- carried over to Hermitcraft? Or the vault hunters world?
What if they didn't figure out his task and have everyone look away? Grian knew, and Lizzie suspected, at least, but what if they didn't say anything?
What if he would be smothered by their sight, kept frozen forever by ignorance?
What if--
Etho retched, falling over as the stone finally let him go all at once. He found himself slumped against someone-- Bdubs? No, a glance told him it was Scott.
Another glance had Grian standing in front of him, eyes on his admin screens instead of Etho. Martyn was right next to Grian, eyes on the code scrolling by. It was his own code, Etho recognized it. The rest of the secret life crew was gathered in a little huddle by the secret keeper, none of them looking at him.
"Nobody look at Etho yet." Grian called over his shoulder, "Not until I'm sure I've got the glitch."
Etho just continued to retch, spitting out broken bits of stone. His whole body shuddered, his legs giving out for good as his stomach rebelled. It would have dropped him to the ground if Scott wasn't holding onto him. Etho was on his knees, throwing up bloody gravel and whatever was left of his last meal. He was trembling so hard it almost felt like someone was staring him right in the eyes, fine dust drifting down onto the grass, almost like snow. The dust was from him-- he was absolutely coated in the stuff, and so was Scott now.
Scott's touch still felt like lava, everything felt like it was burning, even the gentle breeze caressing his bare skin. It was too much. Even the pressure of the ground was too much, but at least it didn't burn--He shoved away from Scott, not bothering to try and stay upright.
"Off--" Etho rasped, his voice sounding like stones grinding against each other, "Don't-- no touch--"
Scott put his hands up, gaze still carefully averted as he stepped over to Grian and Martyn. Scott and Grian were experienced admins, but Martyn? Etho almost didn't care that they were combing through his code, he was too busy coughing up more dust and gravel, curled on his side. Everything hurt-- even the normally soft grass he was laying on felt like razors pressing against his cheek.
He could still see the secret keeper's symbol, every time he blinked.
"Etho, you know that anyone who finds a glitch needs to call pause so it can be dealt with." Grian huffed, relief and frustration coating his words. It was more relief, though, "Why didn't you say anything when you first noticed this?"
"It wasn't a big deal at first." Etho rasped, lying, "Just pins and needles in my feet. I thought it was from standing so long in one place. By the time I figured out what was going on-- It was too quick to try and call a pause--"
"Next time, at least mention something. I'd rather you fail your task than get glitched."
Etho let out a breath, still shaking from adrenaline and the cold of being locked in stone.
