Personal Impression on DMMD Flashback 2023
First of all, even though I could pass through the region block thingy, but I had to set the video quality on auto or else the buffering time would drive me mad. So the result was, sometimes I got a super clear images then suddenly could switched to blurry ones. Which is kinda annoying cause I couldn't focus on their faces. 🙃
Anyway, I'm not really good at writing in Tumblr, so probably I'll just straight out pointing my impressions. Yes, this is my personal take after watching Virus & Trip route live streaming. I'll try my best not to spoil everything. 😄
Nothing really changed at the first part of the story. It just brought back the memories. Except that it wasn't Seichan as Aoba. 🥲
I should say both Seichan and Nao had their hit-and-miss parts. And strangely I feel like they can complement each other. Like, there were some parts where I thought Seichan did it better, or vice versa.
Everyone who were back to their respective roles really upgraded their game. Since I was watching this route, I think Tominaga Yuya really brought out the "quiet madness" of Virus.
(A bit) SPOILER ALERT: this ViTri route covered their Re:connect bad end story. Yes, most of it.
The second part where the story branched was really DENSE!! It felt like they try to squeeze the entire ViTri bad end into a single scene. Well, of course we just couldn't ask for more "detailed scenes", are we? 😌
Even so, I think Nao did well in this. I want to praise him for his courage to go...... uhmm.... shirtless.... on stage.
The interpretative dance at "those scenes" was appealing to me. I mean, it felt delicate and kinda suppressing. I like Nao's expressions here, especially when his eyes started to went dead. Uumm, please excuse my do-S part... lol
The ending was just like the game where Aoba was resigned to his fate. After that, we got all casts dancing to EVIL MASCULINE song (in which we can see it roaming around Twitter).
Overall, I'm quite impressed with this new route and how they performed it. As for the casting, I still think that Nao will be more suitable in portraying Sly Blue. That boy is surely sharp. While Seichan was softer, but I felt that he was a little bit overdid in some parts.
And finallyyyy! Though I'm, myself, still quite biased to Seichan but so sorry that I won't tolerate any slanders toward Nao. He had worked so hard and did a great job in this. Thankfully, he seems pretty calm and stays positive. So let's be kind to him~ 💙

DRAMAtical Murder > Sprites [JAST USA Release, 2021]
I'm quite sure other folks have pulled the sprites from this game before, but I figured I'd still do it anyway just for the sake of completion. Lots of different sizes & crops for these bad boys, so feel free to take your pick. (Clear even comes with a whole host of emotion assets that you can add to anyone else!) These are great for fan games, sprite edits, or making a big cardboard cutout to bring on dates.
Package details & links are under the cut, or you can click here for a static page.

Review: Lamento stageplay
I've been waiting for a Lamento stageplay since the DRAMAtical Murder stageplay in 2019, so I'm really happy that it's finally real and that I got to watch this one! Since I also wrote a blog post about the sweet pool stageplay, I wanted to write one about the Lamento one too. I really enjoyed it! As usual the pictures I used in this blog are pictures posted by the staff and the official Twitter account! Please check it out if you want to see more.
Tumblr media
First of all, this stageplay is pretty long! It's almost three hours long, an hour longer than Nitro+Chiral's previous stageplays. As usual, the first 45 minutes were a bit of a common route in which all the characters appeared. This was mostly the same in every route, but it did change a bit near the ending. After a short 10 minute break, it split into three different routes, so I had to watch three different shows to see all of the endings. It's technically a "musical drama (音楽劇)" which means it combines elements of a stageplay and a musical. I was kind of expecting only the Sanga to sing, but the main characters (Rai, Asato and Bardo) also sing together with Konoe sometimes! My favorite song was probably the opening song, when all of them sung a new version of Itou Kanako's "Lamento" with different lyrics! They also sang a slightly different version at the end of the stageplay. The common route also has two duet songs sung by Rai and Konoe, as Konoe learns about his power as a Sanga.
The new music was really nice, especially the background music. I love how they brought back the composers who made the game's OST to create new songs! I lowkey wish the devils had more songs because whenever they did sing during the opening and ending song of the stageplay, they sounded amazing together! I think it would also be great if they released studio recordings of the songs, as they are always a bit better than the live versions. So far they did already release an album of the instrumental songs which you can buy here, Ototoy shouldn't be region locked, so I think anyone can buy it!
The stage This time the venue was the same as the DRAMAtical Murder stageplay (Shinagawa Stellar Ball), which I've actually been to before, however it looked completely different this time! I liked how they turned the stage into one big forest. Whenever Leaks used his power on Konoe, they used this effect which made the stage look strange and trippy, it was really cool! I also really liked the green light effects they used whenever Konoe would use his Sanga abilities. The screenwriter Uchida Hiroki posted this picture on his Twitter account which kind of gives you an idea what it looked like!
Tumblr media
Plot I was curious how they would turn a rather long game into a stageplay, but I think it worked surprisingly well. They kind of skipped over some of the stuff that happens early in the game when Konoe is still in Karou, but they do explain the general story, like the problems caused by the Void and the Sickness. Shui's character also kind of functions as a narrator in the stageplay, similar to Kamiya in the sweet pool stageplay and Virus and Trip in the DRAMAtical Murder stageplay, which is always a nice addition. It's not unusual for fans of the actors to watch stageplays without knowing the original source material, so I think this makes it possible for everyone to enjoy the show, no matter if they're familiar with the game or not.
Tumblr media
Now for the different routes, I think all of them were great and the actors definitely put a lot of effort into their roles. Bardo's actor was really funny, especially in the scenes in which he teased Konoe (when he wanted a kiss lol), but I think he also did a great job during the serious scenes! I think Bardo's and Rai's actors had a lot of fun messing around with each other, like jokingly pushing each other, or fighting each other with their tails, which happened during one of the curtain calls people were allowed to record. Asato's actor definitely was a lot more calm compared to these two, but he did a great job at showing Asato's gentle personality! His actor mentioned listening to the drama CDs too including Lamento Love Love Gakuen, doing some extra research! (And for some reason he suddenly got into Togainu no Chi if I look at his Twitter account now...). They ended the stageplay performances on Sunday with Rai's route. Rai's actor, Katou Shou, did an incredible job as Rai during the more emotional scenes, like when Rai insists Konoe finds another Touga because he's afraid he will hurt Konoe. That scene in which Konoe realizes Karou (his hometown) had been completely consumed by the Void was also incredible.
Tumblr media
I should probably mention that they showed the good ends only, so no devil endings in this one sadly. Razel's actor agreed that Razel should have his own route because every devil gets quite some scenes depending on the route, but Razel is always kind of left out! Also, can I just say that I absolutely love Froud's stageplay actor, he did such a great job at making the character look intimidating (he's also very tall...) even his voice sounds similar to Froud in the game. I also really liked Leaks' actor, he has a nice deep voice, and Shui's actor liked teasing him sometimes!!
I'm just happy that Lamento has been getting new content again lately, first the webtoon and now the stageplay. You can find lots of pictures and recordings that were taken with permission if you look for the ラメステ hashtag on Twitter! I saw that both Froud's and Konoe's original voice actors (Sasanuma Akira and Hatano Kazutoshi) actually went to watch the stageplay in person. Slow Damage's artist Yamada Uiro, who's also in charge of lots of other official Nitro+Chiral illustrations, also watched the stageplay and drew some new art of it! Always happy to see new Lamento art in the year 2024, I've been enjoying all of the new fanart posted on Twitter as well.
I wonder what stageplay they're planning on doing next, only Slow Damage and Togainu no Chi remain (unless they're planning on bringing Itsuwari no Alkanet or World End's Nightmare back). Next year is Togainu no Chi's 20th anniversary, so I am curious if they are going to release anything new! The director of Nitroplus (Digitaro) also mentioned that N+C is currently working on a new project, though it's currently unknown if it's a new game, Slow Damage fandisc or something else. I guess I will be patient!

I was just thinking about how strange it is that Toue doesn't have a route, looking back and considering that Arbitro had one. The fact that Aoba never ends up somehow slipping beneath the cracks in such a specific way to end up in his hands instead of Virus and Trip's feels like a missed opportunity to do some really interesting stuff and get some actual characterization in.
And on that, sweet pool already had a criminally minuscule number of routes and I'm imagining what the game could have been like if it was padded out a little. A short route, maybe the length of Arbitro's, where Kamiya snaps from prolonged exposure to Youji's pheromones and kidnaps him in his insanity, trying to beget his own Purebreed with him.
Or Toue tortures Aoba worse than anyone else in the game does in any bad ending on the back of the methods he used on Mink.
Secret route of Aoba "bribing" Akushima during a false identification while he's out running packages.
I don't know, hidden route with specific preconditions (your computer's date has to be set to certain Christian holidays, say) where Takeru actually survives his encounter with Keisuke and, within an inch of his life, he spends his last hour with Akira, talking about his past life as it slips away. All his walls are down. Intimate, if you want.
In the beginning of the game you can choose to make out with Ace or Dee and whichever one you choose visits Akira while he's being held in prison.
Everything, anything. I'm so fixated on the supporting characters.

a virus of unknown origin. researchers hypothesize that it was a spillover transmission event—the wrong rat stumbled across the wrong person at just the right time. some new, distant cousin of the rabies virus, with unexpected symptoms—most notably, the consumption of uninfected people by the infected. some suspected this was due to the genetic make up of the virus itself—it seemed to be fine tuned for longevity, and targeted specific motor functions controlled by the certain portions of the brain. this, combined with the rare psychosis symptom reported to be associated with rabies, may cause an uncontrollable compulsion to spread the infection, or, as others postulated, could convince the brain that uninfected bodies were a remedy for its suffering.
at least that was the hypothesis, when the researchers were alive to articulate it.
with the authoritative voice of science effectively silenced, there was more than enough room for conspiracy theories and hysteria to wiggle in and take hold. it was around that time that the media began to circulate the "zombie" rhetoric, and with no scientific name or official explanation (or government sanctioned placation) in place, an official zombie outbreak took shape. the violence that followed was as deadly as the outbreak itself, and served as another painfully efficient route of transmission. whoever lived through the war in the street died of the virus shortly thereafter. there'd been doomsday folks to warn of the end of times for as long as there'd been a time to be alive in. it was strange, then, when they'd fallen silent too.
you and kento had joined in with a ragtag group of strangers early on—with strength in numbers, you successfully isolated yourself in an old, abandoned cabin in the woods a few miles south of town. you got lucky enough to have a few in your group that some construction experience—before you knew it, you had a fairly well reinforced fortress, where you could continue your game of chicken with death. from there, you could ignore the fact that fewer and fewer of your newfound troop came back with each expedition for food and supplies.
there were books to read there, and if you let yourself, you could even find some joy in cooking meals with whatever kento could find in the pantry. he'd wake you up between moth-bitten sheets with breathless kisses, the two of you just grateful to have the opportunity of another day together. when he dragged you out of bed and twirled you around the creaky floorboards, you could pretend the apocalypse outside of your fenced in oasis was little more than a scary story. sprawled across his chest in the afterglow of some indulgence far removed from your reality, you could ignore the way death lingered on the outskirts of your camp.
you could ignore it, until it was your turn to fetch the necessities.
it was fine until it wasn't, as most things tended to be. you'd located a gas station that your group had missed on previous trips—a little farther out, but with how remote it was, it wasn't likely that it had been completely ransacked. if nothing else, you could figure out how to siphon any gas left in the tanks, and hope it was enough to get the old work truck left in front of your fortress running again. if you were mobile, your chances of survival would raise exponentially.
you'd tried to jimmy the door open with your shoulder as quietly as possible, but time and neglect had caused the wood frame to swell and distort around the metal. you grit your teeth when kento put a boot to the door. splinters of wood and glass shards flew as the scrape of metal rattled your bones. for a sickening moment, all was silent. and then you heard the screeching, and the dragging of rotting limbs against asphalt.
♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝♝
"fuck, fuck," you grit through your teeth, arms looped under his armpits as you drag him behind the checkout counter and into the first open door with the latch still intact. a storage closet, apparently.
you set him down for a moment, and it's—really, really not good. there's a deep laceration in his slide from a particularly nasty piece of glass. it's nearly eviscerated him.
you don't have the opportunity to fully process what that might mean—all at once, it feels like someone has lit your hand on fire. when you look down, you see a perfect outline of human teeth across the back of your hand.
you reel back from kento. "oh fuck."
you have no idea what to do, looking around wildly as if the storage closet holds the answers to this god forsaken outbreak. and it might, you realize, when you spot an extension cord, coiled up on one of the shelves.
before you can even make sense of your own actions, you're tying one end of the cord to an exposed pipe sticking out of the brick wall, and the other around your neck. like this, your range of motion is just limited enough to keep you away from the door, and away from kento.
but in your haste, you haven't packed his wound. he's going to bleed out at your feet. if you untie yourself, you're probably going to eat him. he's dead either way.
as if he senses your realization, he meets your eyes for the first time.
"where?" he rasps.
it's a moment before you can find your voice. "my hand."
he sighs, squeezing his eyes shut. "i'm so sorry, my love."
"why are you sorry?"
"it's my fault," he's too quiet, and far too uncertain to match the kento that's carried you through the last year of this outbreak, "i drew them to us."
you shake your head, but you're silent. wanting so badly to find the right words, and having a hard time getting your brain to catch up to the current moment. he was upright and steadfast, and now he's staining the tile beneath him. all in the matter of a few seconds.
"you need to untie yourself, love."
"no." you say firmly, barely giving it a second thought.
“you’re just going to watch me rot until you starve to death?” he laughs harshly, choking on it—sputtering a little. he takes a deep breath and he, despite you mentally willing him to stop, continues.
“no,” he rasps, letting his eyes close, “don’t do that. you can have me—it’s okay.”
“stop,” it leaves you with a groan, squeezing your own eyes shut and shaking your head, as if you could dislodge his words, “stop—”
“this won’t end with you and i,” you hear him reach for you, limp arm dragging across the floor. he falls short—you can't bring yourself to meet him halfway, even if you had the range of motion to do it. “you know that, don’t you? locking yourself in here won’t change that.”
and he just keeps talking, keeps prying open the wound you can’t see. "i just want you to make it out, my love. in case they can find a cure."
you can’t answer him. you want to laugh in his face, you want to scream at him and shake him. but you can't do anything—can't even tell him that you don't want to make it out without him, because when you look down at your hand again, you find that the tissue surrounding the bite has turned necrotic far too quickly—as if you were watching yourself rot, sped up or on loop. you know what comes next.
you know you’re out of time.
the burn radiates up to your neck. your vision blurs a bit with the pain, and then with hot tears as it hits you—these are the final moments of your life. you wonder what you ever did to deserve to watch the love of your life bleed out in front of you. what could have been so bad, to then be forced to desecrate his corpse.
“ken,” you choke, curling in on yourself, chin dropping to your chest. it’s an animal attempt at self-soothing—like a house cat that knows the end is here, you feel the instinct to isolate—to protect the others around you—even now. you are reduced to only primal senses: fear, grief, love. the need to survive. to ensure the survival of those you love, even in the final moments.
he’s fading just as quickly, but he’s stubborn.
“c’mere my love,” he slurs, blinking slow, “it’s alright.”
against all of your fleeting senses, you find yourself unraveling the cord from around your neck. if you looked down, you’d see that your arm is now blackened to the elbow.
some part of you already knows, though, so you don’t bother.
you’re focused on his face, through your tears—the blue eyes that hold yours despite the puddle of blood that you now crawl through. the smell is nauseating, but so is everything else about this—you feel it soak through your tattered jeans as you pull yourself toward him on your three remaining limbs.
you stop when you’re over top of him, breathing heavy and dripping tears and drool onto his face. he doesn’t mind, and you’re not sure he can even feel it anymore with the way he’s looking at you like nothing about this is abnormal.
“ken,” whispered, because one last secret between you is a luxury you feel entitled to, “i’m afraid.”
“i know, my love,” there’s a soft smile on his face that wraps around your heart like barbed wire, “one more kiss? before we meet again.”
“are you fucking crazy—”
“please,” he croaks, and you see the fear mirrored on his face for the first time, “please. just one.”
you shake your head stubbornly and yet you reach for him, hands on both sides of his face. you ignore the way you see every one of your veins in your periphery, bold and darkened with decay, pulsing and searing as they trail up your shoulder. with the way you feel it creep up the side of your face, you imagine you have only a minute at most before the virus reaches your brain.
“i love you,” he breathes against your lips, and you can taste it on your tongue—his love and his leaving, all in three words. if you were a better person, you’d let him go peacefully.
you think you can feel it, then, when it hits your brain stem. latching on to every nerve, every synapse—choking the life—the willpower— out of you, one cell at a time.
“please,” he rasps, and you don’t know if he’s begging for you to let him go, or if he's pleading with someone else, now.
you don’t let yourself deliberate. you drag your lips down his jaw, vision spotty. you hover over the faint pulse of his jugular, hyper aware of how hard his body is fighting to keep him alive right now. feeling the fluttering of arteries, fighting to find something to circulate through themselves.
for a reason you hope you won’t have to justify if there is an afterlife, you open your mouth—whisper one last apologetic declaration of love against his skin—and you bite down.
you bite until teeth touch teeth again. sinew shreds underneath, and you let it flood your mouth. you hear it when it starts—the death rattle, deep in his chest—and rip yourself away with a piece of him and squelch that should make your stomach turn, but doesn’t.
he loved me, you think, forcing yourself to swallow. feeling him slide down your throat in some sort of sick last rite—an act of closure that suddenly feels fitting as he struggles to suck down one last breath. he loved me.

Shuri for the Win snippet
It starts with an error message.
More specifically, it starts when Shuri enters her lab early one morning, still half asleep, and attempts to pull up her itinerary for the day, only to blink blearily at- static. On her worktable. From her systems.
She finds herself abruptly awake, and distinctly uneasy.
Attempting to run a diagnostic comes with... disappointingly little information. According to the computer, there isn’t anything wrong with her schedule. No corrupted data, no broken connection between files. Only the error on Shuri’s part, attempting to pull up something that- wasn’t there.
Which could not be right.
From the age of six, she meticulously planned her schedule, cramming in as much time as possible for lab studies and projects around lessons and events - Shuri can handle spontaneous developments just fine, but when Wakanda and the world beyond were not actually in danger from criminal or alien threats, she likes to have everything neatly laid out each day. She could- could not actually recall what had been on the schedule for that day, but if she’d neglected to plan anything in advance, then there should only be an empty file, not an error message.
So.
Her own mistake, or external interference?
A little over two hours later, after combing through her systems with the digital equivalent of a fine-toothed comb and opening up several panels to check physical hardware, Shuri concludes no one has gotten into her lab’s private network to deliver any sort of virus or commit other sabotage. Yet, the error message persists. Assigning an algorithm to search for any other signs of static turns up several: at least one block of time on any given day every two weeks or so, going back over a year. Shuri wracks her brain, but cannot recall anything significant she’d done or attempted to avoid on those dates. The only stand-out which she does remember was a three day visit to New York City, which involved meeting with a Stark Industries liaison, checking in with the Wakandan representatives assigned to the United Nations, and- and-
-and something.
Upon realizing she can’t recall what else happened on that trip, Shuri pulls up memory files downloaded from her kimoyo beads, hastily seeking out the dates in question. No visual footage or audio recordings, unfortunately, but at least the data of her movements remain. Shuri opens a screen with a map of the city, transfers the recorded coordinates, and watches an accelerated accounting of where she went each day. At first, only the official buildings she can remember; then, a large amount of time traveling by foot around the section of the city known as ‘Queens’. Which Shuri does not recall in the slightest.
Her fingers drum against the edge of her worktable. When the simulation ends, she saves the map and painted route, then dismisses everything in order to sit back and stare at her blank screens.
An error in the computer was one thing.
An identical error in her own mind... it left an uneasy twist in her stomach.
At least the benefit of her itinerary being unexpectedly clear meant Shuri could immediately go find someone to ask for help.
---
I've got this plus two more pages up on my Patreon page, behind the paywall for now but scheduled to be available to anyone in a few weeks. Hopefully I jot some more down soon and get a chapter onto AO3, but not until after I make some more progress on my other big fix-it fic projects

A Whovian Watches Star Trek for the First Time: Part 090 - Trip to the Rescue!
Star Trek: Enterprise - Season 4 Episode 16 - Divergence
Tumblr media
As our episode opens, Archer meets Malcolm in the Bridge. Columbia is on route for Trip to rescue them, but getting trip aboard is going to be a risky manoeuvre at Warp speeds. Apparently Malcolm has experience moving people between ships at warp, but at a maximum of Warp 1, Enterprise is currently up at Warp 5.2. But, Malcolm is the best we've got.
After the Intro, both Malcolm and trip prepare for the manoeuvre, and it's an impressive sequence, and it felt really tense and exciting! A cable is extended for trip to climb across from Columbia to Enterprise. Enterprise starts having trouble, and the cable starts to tear, but Trip gets on just in time!
There's a way to fix Enterprise's systems, but he's basically going to need to perform a miracle to fix this. Trip's going to need to shut the reactor down while using Columbia to maintain Enterprise's speed, then completely restart everything within about 2 minutes. This is kind of bullshit only Trip could pull off, and it's easily the greatest display of his skills we've seen. We've known he's a talented engineer from the start, but this just shows that he really is the best in Starfleet at what he does.
Meanwhile, on the Klingon research base, Phlox is refusing to help the Klingons make augments, but the Klingon Scientist has been going through his research, and it appears they're close to finding a cure for the virus. They just have to develop it without the general finding out. We also get some insight about the Klingon Caste system. Apparently our Klingon scientist's family is part of the warrior caste, which means that Klingons can work outside their caste, but it looks like it's something that's frowned upon. I really want to know more about Klingon Culture. Apparently the Klingon Augments have the same superiority complex that Soong's Augments had, when they're asked if the one who was taken prisoner by Enterprise died with honour, they just answer "He was killed by humans." It also appears they're operating under a completely different honour system than the other Klingons.
Archer has been going through Malcolm's files, and has found the Image of the Mystery man, and we find out his name is Harris. Archer asks Malcolm to make a call to Harris for an Explanation. Frustratingly, Harris is very vague about what's going on, but apparently he works for Starfleet, and Starfleet needs a stable Klingon empire.
We get a short scene where T'Pol and Trip reunite, and interestingly it seems that Trip's a lot better at hiding his emotions than T'Pol, who clearly misses him. We get a fun conversation about war philosophy between Maclolm and the Klingon in the brig, which was just great, I love how differently they view war.
Malcolm is gives the location of the Klingon lab, and is released from the brig, and the mission rescue Phlox. Meanwhile, Phlox is once again pushed to break his medical ethics, and the Klingons make him infect them to test which cure will work.
Enterprise and Collumbia both arrive at the Compound, but Phlox needs a bit more time to create the cure. The Klingon fleet also arrived, and a firefight ensues. Communications between Archer and the two Starfleet ships are shut down. Archer agrees to infect himself to make the cure production faster.
Phlox giving his final speech to get the klingon fleet to stand down because he infected their command ship was perfect. Trip has take a "temporary" posting on Enterprise to help with repairs. I hope he sticks around longer.
I really liked this arc. It had politcal intrigue, exciting action, and it pushed a lot of our characters to their absolute limits, fitting of the final season. I wouldn't upset if this was the finale, but there a few episodes left. The action in this one was absolutely great, both in the opening sequence, and at the end in the Klingon Compound. Really good episode!

ok so, theres another version of DMMD for ps vita
in this version theres no nsfw content which is both good and bad
on the one hand it means the non-con is gone which is a massive improvement because the non-con is super uncalled for and makes mink a completely unviable character for most players because of the gratuitous amount of non-con in his route.
on the other hand it removes all the gore and edits the blood which kinda sucks because i didnt really have an issue with that.
BUT it also includes a new morphine route and virus and trips ending is changed which hopefully adds more characterisation for them since their ending felt really,, hollow and also it adds the reconnect content so its all in one game

Showroom this morning we learned there will be a DVD/Blu-ray release!
Correction, there are no plans for a dvd/blu-ray release. Thank you to everyone for correcting me. 😅
You can view what you've bought LIVE and 7 days after the live performance.
Each route is 3,800 yen or $29 USD.
