i've noticed a bit of discourse over the span of me being back here about peer recognition &what that does to a person's mental on socials.

idk if it's because of my inactivity or because i've just been on tumblr for 10+ years but it really puzzles me when i see someone fretting over the amount of notes and/or social engagement their posts seem to lack. of course we as humans love peer recognition &validation but i'd hate to think that's all some people care to focus on when it comes to their blogs.

i think we all should be posting whatever we want without trying to calculate how many notes we'll receive on any one single post because that's setting yourself up for disappointment. if you're a simblr.. i'd like to assume you came here because you enjoy playing your game, creating content or using it as a creative outlet to express your form of individuality.. the notes in this case should sort of act as a bonus.

people have lost their heads.. ranting in txt posts about their content "flopping" or feeling like they don't belong here.. &it's just like.. take a deep breath.. it's okay.. you'll survive. also idk what flopping is when it comes to simblr, because.. if i get anywhere between 10-100 notes from loyal followers that have engaged with me from day 1, can recognize my OCs &are genuinely paying attention to what's going on (because they care that much).. that's a hell of a lot more rewarding to me than amassing 500-1k notes because a popular simblr randomly decided to reblog me that day.

please learn to love your game, your blogs, your cc & yourself. because what's the point of notes if you're not even genuinely happy with your game in the first place? you'll continue to have unrealistic expectations &end up in that rabbithole of forcing yourself to do tzrs, spam liking &reblogging others just to get that in return &trust me it comes off super fake &people will notice that too.

thinking about how dracula, at its core, is a queer novel that bleeds with loneliness. we don’t know how bram stoker would identity if he had access to modern terminology and contemporary views on sexuality as an identity rather than a sexual preference (and i don’t think we should know), but queer is super useful term here

and dracula, a novel about a monster who passes his infection on through blood, published two years after oscar wilde’s terribly public, terribly dangerous trial for sodomy, in a time where it was fresh knowledge that STD’s could be passed through blood… i mean, it feels disingenuous to the source material to ignore the terror steeped in the novel like that.

this is a book that revolves around the presence of and the physical lack of sex, that features a single man of his kind so monstrous he cannot say holy words or stand the touch of consecrated things, or even see himself in the mirror… it echoes such a terrible, tortured loneliness echoed in a lot of queer work and gothic in general (and the two very often overlap). the idea of being the only one of your kind, or at least, feeling like the only one, in a world that actively hunts you

Sometimes I wish that I did ship Hankcon, cause honestly I don't have anything against it as a ship and I'd get like double the content. Idk why I don't, I can separate ships vs platonic relationships in my head and enjoy both without issue in most cases (I do with rk1700 vs them as brothers for example, I can enjoy both separately). Sometimes a ship just doesn't vibe with me for some reason. I was also one of the 0.0001% of the Merlin fandom who didn't ship Merlin and Arthur, a rare breed I know lol. It's not that I don't see it! It's not that I don't see why it's shippable, it just doesn't click in my brain. It's the platonic shit that gives my brain the happy chemicals for whatever reason and only that 🤷

Also it’s crazy to see, and I didn’t realize before, but apparently Vice Versa was the third GMMTV show I ever watched! 😯 I was just starting out my BL journey and I instantly fell in love with the show and JimmySea!! I love that Last Twilight is gaining more fans for them but there’s definitely pride in me saying I’m a day 1 fan!! 😎 and you too, Monica!! I was reblogging things from you back then too!

IM GENUINELY NOT KIDDING WHEN I SAY THAT THERE IS A VERY SPECIFIC KIND OF DERANGEMENT (AFFECTIONATE) THAT UNITES PEOPLE WHO LOVE VICE VERSA

and this isn't me trying to gatekeep jimmysea or saying that people who liked them since vice versa are somewhat better fans, we all love them and that's what matters the most, but it just can't be denied that vice versa enjoyers are. insane. this show made us insane. that's it. and the funniest part about this is that you can pinpoint the EXACT moment when our sanity meters shot from 'totally normal media experience' to 'being dragged into a padded room by 6 burly EMTs' by looking at our tags just like you did. one post we were fine. next post we were SCREAMING SHAKING CRYING SHITTING YELLING THROWING UP BLOOD JUST SAYING WORDS RECREATIONALLY AND USING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF CAPSLOCK. that show messed with our brains and we've been progressively getting worse ever since (which i honestly think should be thoroughly researched by a team of medical expert because that sure is. Something™)

but you know what? I WOULDN'T CHANGE THAT FOR THE WORLD Y'ALL ARE MY PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!
