Happy Feast Day
Saint Veronica
Died: 1st C.
Feast Day: July 12
Patronage: Laundry workers, Photographers
Saint Veronica offered her veil to Jesus to wipe his face on his way to Calvary and Christ left his image miraculously imprinted on it. This beautiful act of charity is commemorated at the sixth station of the way of the cross. Veronica’s veil is one of the Vatican’s most treasured relics. St. Peter’s Basilica displays the veil each year on the 5th Sunday of Lent, Passion Sunday.

i relate to Nicki being upset because he thought Lestat and himself would just starve or freeze to death in Paris and then going literally insane with resentment because how did I end up a homicidal immortal writing plays about death for a theatre where all the actors are vampires in disguise
hrm. think this metaphor got away from me

the funniest thing, to me, about benji and sybelle discourse is that of course Rice did that thing where she skimmed over characters retelling later events where the characters don't really disagree about what went down, only marius doesn't even mention them. oh yeah them. who cares lol. for him it's in that whole memnoch era like 'oh yeah the kids got all fucked up on jesus stuff for a while. idgi' very boomer dad stuff. doesnt know who mitski is. forgot he gave his son "some marios to play with"

I think they'd keep it more theologically vague, less overtly Christian. Obvs Armand has a Muslim background here, so the 'blood of Christ' and Veronica's Veil etc wouldn't have the same resonance anyway, but Lestat's experience could still spark some kind of belief in an afterlife/divinity, which could destabilize him. Part of why they'd probably avoid too-literal depictions of god/the devil and heaven/hell (apart from budget!) is bc it could be alienating, or just boring, to non-Christians.
I hope so, though I do hope they address the forced faith changes etc in regards to Armand! That would be interesting!
Also, afaik - and please, others with more knowledge (and or the actual background :)) feel free to weigh in here(!) - Jesus was a prophet is islamic faith, too, iirc - so I am not sure how the status of the veil might be (also given the command not to display the prophet's face?! - would that go for the veil then, too?).
Nonetheless it would ... derail the show a bit I guess. Though the theme of it is part of the chronicles, and a rather cataclysmic event in the books.
If we get our seasons I cannot see them omit this fully tbh. But we'll see.

Behind the Curtain, Behind the Veil
“He commands His blessings concerning the righteous.”
Deuteronomy 28:8
If you’ve ever gone through a period of grief or been near to someone who has, then you know the saying, “Don’t worry, God will make good of it all in some way. He makes everything perfect.” It seems it’s the go-to line for most Christians. People of counter faiths often tell you to put your hope in the Universe or karma to…
