I tried reading Polidori’s “The Vampyre” one night before I went to sleep and I for the life of me cannot remember a single word from it or anything that happened.
But I do remember that the author was very pretty:

Did another book cover redesign, this time for Robin McKinley’s 2003 vampire novel Sunshine, which is weird but good and very Robin McKinley xD (Still not sure where That Scene came from or was about in the long run but eh)
Plot description from Amazon for the book:
Sunshine” is what everyone calls her. She works long hours in her family’s coffeehouse, making her famous “Cinnamon Rolls as Big as Your Head,” Bitter Chocolate Death, Caramel Cataclysm, and other sugar-shock specials that keep the customers coming. She’s happy in her bakery—which her stepfather built specially for her—but sometimes she feels that she should have life outside the coffeehouse.
One evening she drives out to the lake to get away from her family, to be alone. There hasn’t been any trouble at the lake for years.
But there is trouble that night for Sunshine. She is abducted by a gang of vampires who shackle her to the wall of an abandoned mansion, within easy reach of a figure stirring in the moonlight. Sunshine knows that he is a vampire and that she is to be his dinner. Yet when dawn breaks he has not attempted to harm her.
And now he needs her help to survive the day...
Give it a look! It won’t be for everyone but if you like cozy type world building and a book that will give you a craving for cinnamon roles I recommend it

fuck. fuck. ok shit help me out, there’s some vampire book written in the last 20 years and the main character is basically a blood doll and it’s the super high protocol Victorian-style setting and all the human clothes are super buttoned up at the neck and wrists so that vampires can’t just chow down and I CANNOT recall the name of it. The author is a woman and I think it was YA

Twinstone paperback release & Haven: Darkened Legacies
Paperback copies of Twinstone are available!
For the past week, KDP has been pulling some BS with the cover, so I had to change it up a bit. Please note these are print-on-demand and will take about 10 days for the order to reach you. ❤️ As a reminder, Twinstone is available on Kindle and as a pay-what-you-want PDF on my Ko-fi shop.

The next book in The Hampnear Legacy is in the very slow process of being written, but I have started to work on a prequel to Twinstone that follows Leon. I wanted to give Kindle Novella a try in an attempt to reach an audience that may not use Tumblr or other author websites such as Ao3 or Fictionpress (do people still use fictionpress?). These I will ATTEMPT to post weekly. You can read episode one on Kindle Novella or my website. Since Kindle Novella offers 10 chapters without using the 'credit' system, I will post the first 10 chapters for free on my website and then come up with some sort of ko-fi membership.
Over a millennia ago, Leon underwent a transformation into a vampire, forever altering the course of his life. The process was shrouded in mystery and danger, but for Leon it marked the beginning of an enthralling and perilous adventure. His newfound strength and immortality opened up a whole world of thrilling and terrifying possibilities. Emerging from the brink of death, saved by the renowned coven leader Malachi, Leon is welcomed into the clandestine realm of the undead nestled deep within the towering Deadmist Mountains. Bound to Malachi by an unbreakable bond, Leon is swept into a whirlwind of intrigue when his fellow vampire ‘sister,’ Victoria, harbors dangerous ambitions of claiming Malachi's throne for herself. The dark undercurrents of power and betrayal simmer beneath the surface as alliances are tested and secrets are uncovered.

Does anyone remember this series? I decided to reread it because I remembered loving the first book but never got the chance to read the rest of the series. It… didn’t age well in terms of grammar and had moments that seemed rushed but it’s enjoyable and has a good concept.

forever obsessed with dynamics between vampires, specifically that of a maker and fledgling, as a way to explore abuse. the creation of a vampire itself can so easily be a literalization of the lasting impacts of trauma and also much more simply the ways a perpetrator might shape their victim’s very identity. the extremes of isolation in the way that the new vampire, in most narratives, must cut all ties to their mortal life, or else go through an elaborate charade to maintain the facade of humanity, while forever still being removed from it. and the sheer dependence and vulnerability of being in an entirely new state of being, wholly uncertain of what it entails, and relying on another person to define… everything.

Writing Tonight...
I did a little plotting for the new Divita novel this evening. I have come up with the weirdest journey of self-discovery ever. At least for my work.

“Do you believe in destiny? That even the powers of time can be altered for a single purpose? That the luckiest man who walks on this earth is the one who finds… true love?”
― Bram Stoker, Dracula.
I'm very happy with my new copy of Dracula, it's very stunning. 🖤
