I love me some homoerotic torture 🥰
#the letter#the letter visual novel#i have not included the visuals for this scene cuz i just#i hate it ashton should not have those nasty anime boy abs they are DISGUSTING#the scene was so hot and then they did that to him what the fuck why would you offend me like this#alsjks but yeah no i just love the fucked up dynamic between johannes and luke so much#and damn we kinda were robbed of a johannes chapter hes like way too good to just be a side character#but idk what would be in his chapter or how itd possibly fit cuz my assumption is itd be like the marianne chapter#where its like the perspective of someone whos simply on the side working for the wrights who gets involved by association#and as much as i am obsessed with marianne like it does kinda show that her chapter wasnt part of the original version of this game#so i think johannes would be in the same boat and i do wonder if he was considered against marianne and they went with the latter#i definitely get it but still i do wish we were given just a wee bit more information about him#like he and luke dont really like each other at all but theyre glued at the hip#they cannot function without each other and its clear that luke essentially owns johannes and he cant escape this dynamic#unless he wants to have his life utterly ruined#so you can definitely see their relationship and think johannes is just this obedient servant who does as hes told even when its fucked up#but then this scene happens and its clear hes enjoying himself he loves torturing pretty boys who can blame him#HES NOT A BAD GUY HE JUST LOVES TO DO SOME FILTHY SINFUL THINGS#but unlike luke hes actually like a nice guy like he has an iconic solidarity with marianne hes sweet with kylie#he shows favoritism towards hannah and tries to warn her about luke trying to kill her and encourages her to leave him#and hes said to have a husband and kids so like hes got a loving family at home that he probably never gets to see#idk its just really interesting seeing him flip flop and you have no clue what his motives are or what he truly thinks#does he assist luke in murder because luke holds his life in his hands and they have a deal#or does he do it because he has a thirst for blood? or maybe it started as the former and devolved into the latter#aaghhhh its just very frustrating i am feasting on crumbs here i need more of my man i fucking LOVE this guy so much#if he wants to do torture i think he should get to cuz working with luke wright and being his fucking babysitter is ass

Nice to see that apparently we’ve all read it runs in the family. It was my guilty pleasure fic and i didn’t expect to see other people talking about it. I started reading it like a month after i got into bad and dsmp and i was /obsessed/. It’s one of those fics that changes your brain chemistry and makes you stare at a wall after reading it. To this day im still subbed to it on the off chance that it gets another chapter.
like genuinely its an enamoring fic it has an odd premise but like the author has so much potential in, like, being able to write genuinely engaging narratives. i'm shocked at how much setup is put into the work and you can tell where the narrative is going in a way that's like watching a trainwreck. You know exactly where it is going but the journey of getting there is so fascinating to watch.
anyway i want to ramble about what i liked and what i didn't like in the fic. so. huge reader discretion advised, go look at the other warnings i posted about this fic before reading this (also spoilers for the fic ahead)
like part of its most interesting facets is it is one of the few fics that tackles this sort of heavy subject matter of assault and kidnapping and doesn't really shy away from how genuinely negative it is and can be. like don't get me wrong ive enjoyed other psychological horror before, but it was, like, nice? to see the "pets" all be like genuinely upset and respond realistically to the situation they're in. no "they really like it secretly" undertone.
not a criticism but my favorite part of this story is the random ass normal human names they try to give everyone. they made skeppy have a white ass last name. bbh's name is Bad Halo. purpled doesn't even show up but his name is mentioned to be, like, "nolan purpled but he goes by purpled because his cheating whore of a mom named him nolan and he hates her" genuinely funniest line of the whole fic one of my favorites i can never ever forget it. i need to find all the human names in this theyre so fucking funny.
also badboyhalo? while he IS woobified and made much more demure and defanged, he's still like... that IS badboyhalo. his moments of complete suspicion at every encounter. his doubting. refusal to break the mould and rock the boat out if fear something bad would happen. VERY badboyhalo sentiments. also the fact the writer knew about skephalo divorce. going to be honest, looking at how their other work contains a6d, i think the writer was/is a bbh watcher. and then the schlatthalo. the fact they made schlatt ask to curse? and then bbh laughed when he did? this person understood both of these guys. they did their homework. schlatt isn't a megalomaniac evil villain one note. i don't know if i'd call both of them "in character" per say, but i can definitely say they had consistent characterization and i could understand how their characters got to these versions.
also the technohalo multifaceted concept? techno seeing bbh as too innocent? putting bbh on a pedestal and denying his humanity in that way? WILD. the setup and writing was all there for, like, bbh using his body and manipulating techno to turn against phil.
like the good parts of this fic are such crazy highs and peaks it makes the lows look so much worse.
speaking of which: wilbur soot.
by god is wilbur soot not a character, he is a force of nature and just continuous digging deeper on trying to fix a problem the writer accidentally started. none of sbi really are fleshed out or rounded characters, but wilbur soot is like by far getting the worst treatment. im not even a wilbur fan LOL.
he's supposed to be a schizophrenic serial killer which already isn't a great start, and then you watch the writer realize the issue and try to fix what they've started. this is when schizophrenic medicated slimecicle comes in. followed by badboyhalo looking at the camera and going Not All Mentally Ill People Are Bad. which was just really funny in such a morbid way. but then the writer DOES go in an interesting direction with phil denying his condition and refusing to help him get medicated. however with the slimecicle medicated moment it comes off as a medication = The Good Mentally Ill Person narrative. genuinely i dont know how id solve the wilbur issue without extensive rewriting. he's just a mess.
phil i think is one of the most interesting of sbi, being made into a central antagonist and a genuinely good villain. his scenes have well made tension and poses actual threat and stakes to the narrative. he's a good villain! techno has an interesting arc with bbh but just isn't given enough screentime and doesn't have much beyond "brute to be manipulated" which sucks a little. tommy is tommy. only one of sbi i could see not dying in a fire at the end. wilbur, despite his other issues is a narrative driver with his capriciousness, but the schizophrenia plotline is such a mess that he just is not a person here, he's a plot device more than anything.
more abstractly i do wish they committed and, like, had sex scenes or were blatant about sex happening. like they keep dancing around it but so much of the fic does not make sense if sex isn't what's occurring here. like i get subtlety if the avoidance of sex is what they're aiming for! but its okay to, like, maybe make it more clear whatever techno and bbh have going on is obviously sexual, because that can be used to advance the narrative and make it more clear bbh is using his body to manipulate here, because that'd be a good plot point to continue the themes and motifs of the story. i also just do not know how else to interpret the relationship lol.
my other biggest criticism is make it less misogynistic. the only three named women are the dead samsung smart fridge (who is now a dead mom named samantha), minx the alcoholic witness, and puffy, who is somehow ranboo's mom. like the ableism is horrific here but its so over the top stupid in the ableism, while the misogyny is subtle and just reeks. genuinely why is puffy ranboo's mom that sucks so fucking bad. make her be his aunt or guardian or something. but mom? c'mon.
i rambled way too long lol there's more i can say but this fic is my roman empire. the writer has so much potential but just needs more life experience to understand mental illness and misogyny. also a beta reader to fix their formatting. and maybe make their dialogue more human. shoutout to ranboo giving his name and phone number to tommy after tommy literally fucking tells him he'd "make a beautiful corpse" CRAZY exchange. no human would do that.

Viviakou propaganda
"Yakou may be the protector of Kanai Ward, but who's going to protect him? Vivia, of course! Vivia despises being a detective, but after following the voice of his chief, he accepts his role and helps to solve Yakou's darkest mystery. Vivia never shelves his emotions, and Yakou never expects him to. Even in the wake of horrid truths, they shelter each other to lessen the pain. They are the heart and soul of the Nocturnal Detective Agency!"
"ik im basic but god DAMN have you seen their fucking dlcs??"
"i mean do i even need to say anyhting at this point theyre basically canon. but yakou being vivias reason to live is fucking wild and theyre so essential to each other in the plot, theyve spend so much timetogether up to chapter 4, every minute of vivias dlc should be enough propaganda"
"There is a unique comfort I think only these two can offer each other. Vivia’s idea of love is mistreatment, while Yakou knows what love SHOULD be and can show it to him. On the flip side, yakou lost someone very precious and (in my opinion) might be hesitant to love again because of that. But Vivia is so patient and so gentle that yakou learns it’s safe to love again. They can only offer this specific comfort to each other, and I love that about them."
"Everything about them works so well. The fact they parallel each other with viewing life and death. How they handle their own depression. Yakou in Vivia's dlc is much nicer compared to Yuma. Interacting with Vivia, trying to encourage him, and even offering to go to a restaurant together. These two go on a DATE. They also hang out in the agency together, Vivia got in the same boat as Yakou in chapter 3, and based on how Vivia knows about the letter and Yakou reads it a lot, it implies that Vivia watches Yakou a lot when he's ghosting. That's not even mentioning chapter four where Vivia is protecting Yakou. Wanting him and his secret to be laid to rest. He cares for Yakou deeply. Also during the end of his dlc, vivia was mentioning all of the sights he wanted to see while he was staring at Yakou's ass. Enough said."

additional change to the story: don't divide each chapter into sub-chapters, and have the doors go straight to important places [such as straight to yold town] unless we talking sammer kingdom
While removing the sub-chapters sounds honestly pretty good I'm not sure if I'd want the doors to skip certain parts of the game.
The sub-chapters serve as exactly what you'd want doors above to do. Kinda. They take you near the important location and skip the journey that the crew would have to realistically travel. I mean think about it Chapter 1-1 is a grass field in the mountains while Chapter 1-2 and onwards is a desert.
I presume you could make it an excuse with a magical door but even if we consider that, I don't think I'd like to skip from Bestovius's house, for example, immediately to Yold Town. The walk you take to the village not only gives you stuff to do but you also have a lead up to it and don't just pop in without an explanation. When you actually find it during your playthrough you might feel a little suprised to see a civilization, but also rewarded because it's a nice change from the dead wastelands. It's a safe space where you can stock up on items and interact with characters. It's an adventure, removing the journey kinda defeats the point. It's nice to get to know the environment you're in and take in the view.
I do have my personal issue with sub-chapters though: the fact that if you leave the level before reaching the Pure Heart, you have to replay each previously completed sub-chapter again. This issue dissapears after you complete the whole Chapter since you are now given an option to select your destination but to this day I remember that I had to leave the game during Chapter 3-3 (because busy) and came back with the information that I have to start all over again. Why divide it so much if I can't even return to the segment that I was in? Is it the short paper narration that is supposed to make it worth it? I like the short text snippets from the Narrator but theyre not worth an hour of backtracking.
I'm completely fine with the doors taking you straight to important places after you've already finished the chapter. If you're replying the level it's either for collectables or you want to catch all the things you missed lore wise and maybe even find secrets.
So while I can absolutely see Super Paper Mario being without sub-chapters and even entertain the idea, I don't want the doors to take away a lot of the journey (with one exception). You walk to Merlees house in this beautiful orange world that would be a crime to skip. You get to float in space before reaching any solid ground. You get to walk through hell and ride a boat to Mistress Death herself. It's really really cool and also shows that the journey isn't that easy for the heroes. The stakes are high and there are a lot of obstacles to conquer.

Marine Life in Owari no Seraph
okay listen this is going to be a lot of rambling because im hype up on doing way too much college shit all day but i can't stop thinking about what the ecosystem within the oceans in OnS look like. because okay so in Chapter 43, Narumi brings up that the ocean is fucked up:
Tumblr media
That the oceans are acidic AND poisonous with monsters "even worse than horsemen" inside
whcih yoichi follows with:
Tumblr media
SO IT'S ACIDIC, POISONOUS, AND BLOOD RED WHICH IS SO . OKAY OKAY WE HAVE A LOT TO WORK WITH.
cause okay so something that is often talked about in ecology studies is the concept of resilience. which britannica kindly defines as "...the ability of an ecosystem to maintain its normal patterns of nutrient cycling and biomass production after being subjected to damage caused by an ecological disturbance." - BASICALLY entire ecosystems have varying levels of this shit. some things are extremely resilient- when external stressors are introduced those fuckers will not die out at all, and will usually dominate future populations even after the habitat has reached a relative state of equilibrium stress events. Some however of course have low as hell resilience and yeah theyre gonnabe the first to die out and REALLY REALLY struggle to come back.
anyways now that we know somewhat of how observed communities are going to react to shit like- fucking acidic poisonous water that has turned blood red - we can start to speculate what the HELLS in there . because i have no fucking faith in Kagami to actually show us whatever the hells in there.
SO MONSTERS YEAH? let's say that these "monsters" that are in the water are actually evolved marine life - since OnS apocalypse happens in 2012 and current timeline is in 2020 we can assume that no Crazy crazy evolution has occurred just yet (short-term evolution is something that Does happen- and incredibly fast in some species cases! because generation to generation survivability can be super fucking extreme and force shit like armor plating esp in some species of fish dependent on turbidity) BUT just little things. especially a likely shift toward red colorations in these bitches. i like to imagine that the monsters were just the super fucking resilient of the bunch and if theyre predatory to Anything that enters the water (HOW DO THEY KNOW ABOUT THE MOSNTERS ANYWAYS IF THE WATER IS ACIDIC AND POISONOUS? WERE THERE EXPEDITIONS?) assuming that boats and things have got the shit beat out of them and those people on voyages dying horribly - we can assume these are big fuckers yeah? or just fucking nuts with acid poison brain enough to harm themselves to fuck up vessels.
I LIKE TO BELIEVE HOWEVER, that oceans are fucking FULL of jellies (jellyfish- trying to be known as just jelly or jellies these days since they aren't actually fish!) . CAUSE OKAY WE KNOW THAT LIKE. in current days where the oceans are CONSTANTLY invaded with stressors like pollutants, various contaminants from agriculture chemical runoff, global warming fucking up salinity and temperature in a lot of areas, and yadda yadaa yadda. and throuhg all of that - jelly populations are BOOMING!! they're literally super fucking resilient motherfuckers cause there's sooooo many of them soooo many types and they can adapt and evolve pretty fucking easy . and just god imagine big ass translucent red jellies with a whole new kind of potency to their stings (JUST WHAT WOULD POISON DO TO NEMATOCYSSTS??>?) that are capable of burning fucking holes through metal. oh my god it would be so cool. or just fucking anything resilient enough or maybe just fucking ANYTHING from super deep underwater that now has an increased survivability in higher water (ONLY due to color, theyre usually adapted to red perceived conditions because red is the last color to be absorbed by the water the deeper you go) and lord have you seen the guys down there? big scary teeth would look like monsters. sorry though my knowledge begins and ends at jellies.
um but i would just really like to know whats out there ... maybe............................... a little

ep 5: (chapters 12-15) poodle and amtrak shenanigans, the st louis arch. then percy sees himself on the news and they contact camp and then they go to the diner where they see ares.
ep 6: (chapters 15-17) starts with waterland love boat hijinks. then traveling to vegas and the zoo truck scene. then lotus casino. i need this to match the energy from the movie. then quick montage traveling to LA. ends with killing crusty and sweet talking charon onto the gondola.
ep 7: (chapters 18-20) training cerberus, flying shoes scene, meeting hades. being tricked. escaping the underworld. ends rifht before he's about to fight ares
ep 8: (chapters 20-22) fighting ares, winning, crying on tv to make money #malemanipulator. then flying home, meeting the gods, seeing his mom, and going back to camp. Gabe "disappears". everything seems good but its not. luke reveal. FAKE ending of percy passing out from the scorpion sting, a beat of blank screen/silence, then he wakes up in the infirmary again. OH OH OH SHIP ASK MEMEEEE
KimBig
💙 KIMBIG MY OTHER BELOVED 💙
Tumblr media
I have a feeling that this ship is literally just me and 5 other insane people that I brought along for the ride! But anyway!
I love them! Doomed by the narrative, never going to end well, one of the best ships not to ship. Proxyfucking because they cant have the person they want. Gorgeous. Delicious. Outstanding. Made by me, for me tbh.
I'm gonna pretend I didn't just misread the top right one as "theyre the same fucking guy" and double down but I fear that my opinion on the guy they're both fucking would land me in fandom jail lmao.
Ok so theyre not exes but I also think that baby Kim couldn't have gotten through adolescence surrounded by hot men without developing at least one little crush on an oblivious older bodyguard. and Big is the funniest possible option here sorry :')
I think that the dynamic of them both growing up alongside Kinn is so interesting. Kim is resentful of Big in many ways for essentially fitting where Kim used to, beside his older brother. Big is obviously in love with Kinn and can't tell him, but while Kim maintains this whole snarky moral superiority over the fact that Big is in unrequited love with Kinn; Kim is essentially in almost the exact same boat. He loves his brother from afar but cant actually bring himself to tell him outright. Thematic parallels my beloved.
Oh the devotion (just not to eachother)
Bonus! - Dead-darling of a snippet under the cut.
So for context: This got cut because the entire context for the piece changed - I decided the fic worked better as a stand-alone where nothing had ever happened between Kim and Big before BUT once upon a time this was the second chapter of a two parter: in this scenario: months before this, Kim and Big has Done Bits in Kim's office and then never spoken about it again. Now theyre drinking together, Kim's spilled his drink and Big has just cleaned it up. Kim is desperate for some kind of distraction and drinking together hasn't proven distracting enough.
Kim dips two of his fingertips into the amber liquid in his hand. The ice is cool and slick against his fingertips as he chases it around the glass. Kim feels an almost impish smile spreading across his features. “You missed a bit.” Kim says. “What?” “You missed a bit.” Kim says, Big stares back, almost incredulous. It looks good on him. Kim stirs the glass, ice clinking softly against the sides before languidly raising his hand. He lets the whisky drip from his fingertips onto the table.  “See?” He grins. Big, looks as if he's a drop away from muttering something else under his breath but watches, rapt, as Kim holds his gaze and slowly licks the whisky from his own fingertips. It’s silent for a while. “Do you think about it?” Kim asks, eyes half lidded, letting his eyes rake over Big where he’s seated in the chair. Big holds the glass instinctively against his chest. He half expects Big to play dumb, to glance off at the doorway and stand again. To straighten the creases in his suit and leave. Kim would let him this time. Big cocks his head, blinking at him slowly, holding Kim's eye with the kind of defiance that could only be brought on by an awful cocktail of alcohol and anxiety. “Do you?” Big asks in answer. The smallest of smirks hides behind the rim of his glass, only visible in the crease of his eye as they flicker off to the side. There’s a slight sheen to his bottom lip that the whisky has left. “Careful.” Kim warns smoothly, just to watch him shrink. Only he doesn’t. Big straightens in the chair.

HOLD ON KRIS AND SUSIE GO ON A ROADTRIP IN BOYS AND GIRLS?????? THATD BE SO FUCKING FUN TO READ WHAT!!! i love hearing little crumbs of the stuff you think abt for the story it makes me smile you still think abt it
YEAH remember the human design i made for Goner Clam
Tumblr media
Clementine Spader! Nicknamed "Clamentine" or "Clams", Clementine moved outta Ebbott at 16 and started as a crab bucket assembler before moving on to clamming, and running off to join coast sailors in dredging and clamraking. Clementine lives on a boat during clam season, and the offseason is spent in Arizona in an RV park in the Sonoran Desert, in a small area nicknamed "Goners Circle" for the intense heat it gets and the way the RVs station themselves in a circle. They're an unknown figure that Susie talks about vaguely, but apparently ran off to Arizona due to getting sick of the cold and cramped coast, and enjoys the solitude of boat/RV life. They also supposedly got bitten by a western diamondback and killed it accidently, honoring it with a tattoo they endured through hours of miserable stick-and-poking as punishment, though Susie believes that's a "bullshit lie".
theyre Susie's cousin :) susie was meant to be introduced in the next chapter and starting Kris' B plot that was being set up with Asgore, where basically you find out Susie got kicked out of her grandparent's house for her deliquent behavior and is currently camping out in an old RV park in the island city, and through that you learn that her cousin who used to live with her had once lived here and it's why the people there let her set up tent without paying renters fees. Susie, her cousin, and their child Lancer lived with their grandparents in a town over from Ebbott after Clams had to come back for some court stuff, and apparently they got into a fight and took Lancer from them, where Clams then had to move back out to Arizona with their girlfriend and leave Lancer behind.
Susie talks about how she wants to get to her cousin in Arizona and that she wants to break into her grandparent's house to steal her stuff back to sell for gas to get there, and Kris offers to help. When Clam finds out Susie is trying to make the trek to them, they tell her to get Lancer and haul ass out here, and Susie is against the idea for a bit before deciding that if she leaves Lancer Will be trapped with their grandparents, and they never know if they'll see him again.
So one night Kris and Susie pull into Susie's old house when she knows her grandparents are out drinking and they enter in from the back with trash bags to collect her things, and they wake Lancer up and get his carseat and items in the back. Susie's grandparents end up coming back earlier than expected, and susie knows that if they catch her they'd call the cops on her, so her and Kris have to make a mad dash out the back door and into the car, where Susie pulls out and speeds away from the house
Tumblr media
Susie and Kris then speed down the endless back wood roads Susie lives around, hoping that if they chased them that they were lost. Susie and Kris don't know whether Susie's grandparents actually called them for tresspassing, but Susie knew she couldn't hang around the town long enough to find out, and decides its now or never that they get Lancer to Arizona
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Susie technically knows however that they can't do anything legally, because they unjustly took Lancer from their biological parent, and if that was found out Clams could technically argue with them in court about it, and they're not the family to want to deal with the law when it wasn't helping them, so Susie knew as long as she had Lancer they couldn't touch her. But they needed money to go the three days, and Kris bargains with Asgore for some
Tumblr media Tumblr media
With the money to get to Arizona (and a few phone calls to Toriel), Susie and Kris set out on a technically illegal cross country roadtrip to get Susie the hell out of dodge and to Arizona, where Susie could return to the only family that loved her, and Kris spends their first time alone in the world without the people they thought they could never leave
theres an old drawing og B&G susie i made of her playing the guitar in front of a campfire in the woods, and its based on a later chapter when Susie and Kris are spending the summer at the RV camp with clams in Arizona after making it there, and its where Susie learns a lot about being accepted and Kris learns about growing dependent and im very excited to get more of it polished LOL

Lupin III Chapter 70 Review
that chapter took so long to get. but it was a good one so it's really worth it!!
lupin in this cover is also very silly, funny eyes funny legs
Tumblr media
lupin is now on a mission to find the rat boss (the real rat boss this time, the big guy was just a minor one) he and jigen just kinda start out by kidnapping some random old guy on the street and giving him a bunch of money to reveal the face of the rat
Tumblr media
he does and then lupin sails out into the ocean with the pictures of the rat boss' face
its quite a rough sea, with the path being filled with corals and crashing waves, if theyre not careful... who knows what might happen to them? as lupin walks through the boat, it rocks and lupin slides into the bath with fujiko(presumably thats who the girl is) in it....
Tumblr media
please pay attention to this in particular i completely missed this part and i was very confused when she appeared out of nowhere
then, he speaks to goemon and gives him the pictures of the rat boss and goe seems to be quite shocked by what he sees, and asks lupin if the old man might've tricked him
lupin reassures him, as jigen is holding him hostage. he then calls him, and jigen tries to get the old man to confess whether he is working for the rats but he doesnt answer. after lupin hangs up, the old cuts through the ropes and knocks jigen out.
Tumblr media
meanwhile, on lupin and goe's parts, goemon reveals the photos were infact of both of them! lupin ignores the discrepancies however, and poses another question
when he checks the maps to what is supposed to be the island where the rat clan's base is in, it shows no island whatsoever, which he concludes that this is definitely a trap, and the goemon he's talking to is just a fake! what!
Tumblr media
lupin then lets fujiko, who has finally came out of the shower, to kill this fake goemon for him they both fled the boat, and fake goemon reveals that he rigged the boat with explosives!! and he slashes fujiko!!!!
but it turns out that is wasnt even fujiko at all!! it was the REAL GOEMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Tumblr media
then he kills the fake one
he comes back the ship to find it luckily intact! with only the bathroom exploded.....
Tumblr media
the end.

also. 10, 22 and 23. for one piece or fma or soul eater or anything that floats your boat
10. Most disliked arc? Why?
for one piece im gonna be honest whisky peak sucks that zoro luffy fight was so dumb and unnecessary and random and irrelevant and it makes me mad just thinking about it. frankly. i'll chalk it up to early series weirdness but like that entire thing was . incredibly mid. at least it was only like 3 chapters LMAO
for fma honestly... i dont think i have a least favorite arc? theyre all really solid no complaints here
for soul eater its been like 2 years since i read/watched it so my memory is incredibly hazy and honestly speaking the entire plot sucks so bad i dont think i could choose just one. but maybe ill choose the first three episodes/chapters for being so weirdly horny
22. Popular character you hate?
honestly for all three of these i cannot think of anybody popular who i hate because theyve all got incredibly solid characters who are very fun and generally if theyre popular they're popular for a reason
23. Unpopular character you love?
for one piece: the MARINES the marines. yes ok everybody's favorite token marines are fujitora and cora and bellmere and smoker and tashigi and maybe if we're forgetting about how much garp sucks as a person we can throw him in there too but i love akainu i love aokiji i love kizaru i love ryokugyu i love sengoku i love tsuru i love all of them so much. also fandom opinion on pudding mostly depends on where youre looking but if she counts as unpopular or at least controversial im throwing her in here too i love pudding so much she deserves the world
for fma: mr ho it really depends on who you talk to so idk if he counts as unpopular but like. controversial, definitely. the dwarf in the flask specifically as in the flask is also really funny i wish we couldve seen his & hohenheim's stupid adventures together. like a dumb miniseries or something thats my dream
for soul eater frankly i have NO idea what popular opinion is but im kind of under the impression that everybody generally likes the whole cast? i mean i do

The Lighthouse (Crash on my Docks)
by theoogieboogieman
Leave it to Stede Bonnet to row across the ocean in the smallest dinghy that England could provide. It could barely carry his weight, especially with the provisions and rope and other necessities he had aboard. He had never realized how lucky he was to have had The Revenge for his entire pirating career up to that point, until he’d had to stand up on a very unstable boat in the middle of God knows where in the ocean and take a leak in the water. Bloody horrible.

MORE deltarune spoilers because i just finished playing from ch1-2 on a complete save file
ok so first things first:
1. spamton: i thought about it, looked around some more, and yknow how the butler in the queen's mansion cafe (after the fight) talks about how he built that body for a lightner? im pretty sure the lightner in question is mettaton. or, the ghost that Becomes mettaton. with spamtons final form being "spamton neo", the resemblance to mettaton neo in the geno route of undertale, and mettaton still being a ghost in deltarune, im pretty sure that mettaton had wished for a body like that, and the darkner running the cafe answered that wish by making the machine found in the basement.
2. onion-san: after two years, i finally heard onion-san's secret. or, both secrets, actually lol. so apparently onion-san has been hearing part of a song coming from deep under the water, and thinks that they'd heard the entire song before, out deep in the ocean. explicitly says that it's not a new song. they then say theyre going to investigate more and to come back tomorrow (ch3) to hear what else they'd found out. i have two theories about this, one, being that the song that onion-san is hearing is from the humans, and two, that the song is from the darkners.
the human theory is something ive been thinking on since i started replaying deltarune. im pretty sure this world is a timeline where the humans lost the war mentioned in the intro to undertale, and were sealed underground instead of the monsters as a result. the bunker is possibly the entrance to the underground, and kris somehow got out. kris's dialogue about humans seems to imply something dark, with the book about humans on the top floor of the library (accessible in ch2) having "pictures of unfamiliar humans", to which kris immediately slams the book shut. snowy and monsterkid, in ch2, down at the bunker mention that kris knows something about the bunker, and that whatever is in there is scary. this could be another entrance to the dark world (now that we know kris can open them as the knight) but it could also be the underground, where all the humans have been sealed inside of. humans also seem to be relatively unknown and somewhat of mythological creatures, with movies being made about them, and one of the npcs in the apartments asking questions to kris about if their blood hurts/where skeletons come from if humans have them inside of them.
the darkner theory is less thought out on my part, but still possible. the further underwater you go, the darker it gets. its possible that there might be an entrance to the dark world underwater, or maybe the dark world is simply part of the real world, and just unknown/hidden away. this could also tie into the bunker possibly being an entrance to the dark world, and might be the "true" entrance, but its been locked and so the worlds are separated. in ch1, (if i remember correctly) seam and the king mention how the lightners locked them away, and that the dark world wasnt always like this. ralsei also mentions that the lightners and darkners used to live side by side, almost symbiotically, with the lightners giving the darkners purpose and the darkners helping the lightners fulfill their journeys/wishes. if kris knows about it, its possible this isnt kris's first adventure in the dark world, and probably was alone the first time. i can see how that would be terrifying for anyone, let alone a child. kris probably locked the bunker so that no one else would get stuck in there/none of the darkners would come out. it could also possibly be that the "true"/"real" kris wants to release the darkners, but us as the player sealed the bunker somehow, hence why kris keeps removing our control and opening new fountains. there isnt as much to go off of with this theory as the human theory, but i think theyre both possible.
3. ok enough lore talk i have to mention it. THE DUCK. in ch1 when you make the thrash machine you can make a duck, and it sucks, and susie and lancer blow it up. the end. BUT IN CH2, ROUXLS KAARD BRINGS THE THRASH MACHINE BACK AS A BOAT. and if you played through from ch1-2 and got to customize the machine/make it into a duck, theres different text!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
AND. to make matters even better, when you fight giga-queen at the end of ch2, and the thrash machine is modified into a mecha for you to fight her in, you ALSO get a special ability if your thrash machine was a duck! i forgot to grab a screenshot, but its similar to the standard laser upgrade in the act menu, except it (supposedly) sucks. i did notice that the duck version, in addition to attacking, also heals you when you activate it? which is great. all in all, i suggest playing from ch1 so that you can get the duck thrash machine. 10/10
4. the saddest news, papyrus: even if you tell sans you'll hang out with his brother tomorrow in ch1, you still cant meet papyrus in ch2. sans says to come back when asriel comes back to town (which is a whole can of worms, because sans shouldnt know asriel yet since hes new in town. unless toriel blabbed about him while fucking befriending him) which will probably be chapter 6/7 :( i miss papyrus so much im very sad about this.
i think thats it, but then again theres so much that hasnt been explored yet. this is just my thoughts/stuff ive encountered in my playthrough. very hyped for ch3 sjkdgfksdhfhj

Pull the Stars Out of the Sky (And Gift Them to Me), pt. 10, (Ahkmenrah x Reader)
Tumblr media
Description: Relief.
Notes: now ive said this before, but i need to say it again and add on to it. This chapter will NOT make much sense if you do not read Mahjur's story, None Like You. The experience of reading this chapter will also be enhanced if you read Piye's story, Miscreation, but it's not as necessary as Mahjur's story. theyre also long as fuck so heres the important stuff: Piye was born blind and went on a mission when they were about 14 in which they grew their dark skin, massive height, and white hair, and gained some of the sight they'd lost. Mahjur gave up everything to be with Ahk. in the end, Ma'at (Goddess of Truth and Order) forced them apart in the name of the 'holy law'. Ma'at did this because mahjur, as a god, was not supposed to be interfering with the lives of people.

Throughout the entirety of your two-day journey, you never left the canoe, leaving your muscles cramped, and strained, and restless. Still, you supposed you were in a better state than Piye, who had yet to sleep or rest from their rowing. On the other hand, Ahk was fine. At one point you asked him if he was worried about the coming events, but he told you that he wouldn't stress until it happened, and continued to swim beside the canoe without a care.
How you wished to have his capability to simply not think about things.
As you passed by Thebes in broad daylight, you looked far across the river from the western bank, searching for the falcon soldiers. Like Aswan, most of what you saw looked vacant or abandoned. Despite that you continued to stare, watching civilization pass by slowly, till city walls faded away to the flush green of the Nile.
"When will we get there?" Ahk moaned, his neck on the edge of the canoe, allowing him to dip his head upside-down, the crown of his hair soaking in water.
"Shut up," Piye said. The Pharaoh obeyed, although begrudgingly.
Night came and went in the blink of a sleep-heavy eye, passing into the dark early morning. Birds had yet to stir, leaving you in the eerie silence––the quiet before the battle. The only to feel such stress appeared to be you and Piye. Ahk slept on as usual, and the rest of the world remained ignorant to your journey.
"How did you meet Ahk?" You asked, desperate for someone elses' voice rather than the one in your head.
"My father was employed by his father, the Pharaoh of the time. I was... nine, maybe?" They said, taking a moment to remember. "Why do you ask?"
"You seem very close."
"I suppose we are." They paused. "He was a great comfort to me when my father died. And other... such things."
"He seems to have a habit of winning people over," you noted quietly.
"Yes, well... he has a certain charm."
As the sun's light began to crest the horizon, Memphis appeared in the distance, and Piye pulled the canoe to a stop on the western shore. Ahead of you lay the city you had so eagerly fled, the silent white walls foreboding in the worst of ways. You were certain the city would be flooded with falcon soldiers, as well as people who had heard of Ahk's treason, and who had decided Gyasi would be a better ruler. There would be few friends in those walls. Those of standing who had openly expressed their support of the Pharaoh Ahkmenrah had been banished.
Once the boat hit the riverbanks, Piye jumped out of it and pulled it the rest of the way onto solid ground. From there they donned a head covering, and shook the water out of their sandals, before helping you out as well onto dry land. No words were exchanged as you fully dressed yourself as well, sheathing knives you had been toying with.
You stepped to the side, tapping Ahk's head and laughing when it lolled to the side. It took a few more pokes before he truly stirred, moaning about a poor night's sleep, before he noticed you above him.
"When are we gonna be there?"
"We're here," Piye said flatly.
"We are?!" Ahk jumped to his feet, nearly falling over in the canoe. "How's the city look? Is it burned?"
"Look for yourself," you said, manually moving his chin to face the city behind him.
"Beautiful as the day I left," he said, seemingly satisfied. "So what are we doing?"
"Following a Goddesses' orders," Piye said as they finished pinning their head covering.
Ahk haphazardly dressed himself, but refused to wear a head covering. Piye explained thoroughly how screwed the three of you would be if Ahk was instantly recognized, and though the Pharaoh argued back for a little while, he was eventually won over. With that decided, the three of you abandoned the canoe and made way for Memphis.
The flush bushes and trees lining the river soon disappeared into empty sand, the land having been cleared for the construction of the great city. From where you now stood you could see guards inside the entrance of the massive walls. Your heart thrummed in your chest, crashing against its' own strings, sending your thoughts into a flurry. Disappearing was your act––returning was not. Facing the consequences of your actions was something you rarely did, since you weren't locked down anywhere, and didn't require anything from anyone but yourself. Now, you had a self-appointed duty––keep your friends safe. After the many years of your travels, you finally had something to lose.
And the thought of that terrified you.
"We aren't using the front entrance, are we?" You murmured, mostly to Piye.
"Of course not. Have you ever scaled a wall?"
"Well... once when I was trying to escape Ahk," you said reluctantly.
"Oh, I remember that," Ahk said with recognition in his eyes. "Then I tied you to the bed."
"Yeah, and then I cried."
"You two are.. I don't even know. You're insane," Piye said. "Now stop being insane and help me here."
You had yet to reach the walls of Memphis, so Piye stopping halfway there confused you for a moment.
"What are we doing?"
"I can't throw a grappling hook straight up that far," Piye said, kneeling and digging into their bag, "so we have to set up here."
Before they could find the hook amongst the mass of other tools set carelessly in their bag, they stopped suddenly, raising their head and looking off to the city. It didn't catch your eye at first, but when they didn't move for a good minute, you noticed, as did Ahk.
"Piye?"
They stood suddenly, the tools in their lap clattering to the ground. Long threads of white hair began to rise, floating mid-air as though Piye stood underwater, or stood suspended in nothing.
Your attention alarmingly caught, you circled round them, finding their eyes white and glowing on a face of night-black skin.
"Piye, this is not a good time to have a revelation!" Ahk chided, reaching for their wrist. Before he could do so, Piye flicked his hand away, making him recoil with a pained gasp.
"There is..." their voice spoke in double, in triplicate, echoing in your skull like the resonance of a gong, "... much to do."
You and Ahk looked to each other, both searching for answers that neither of you had. Piye continued their path forward, leaving you and their belongings behind, as they headed in broad daylight towards the city's gates. Without ever having to reach up, their head scarves and chest coverings fell away till all that remained was their skirt.
What the fuck do we do now, came through your head, but you had little time to voice your question before Ahk ran to Piye. You followed, mimicking his actions when he tried to stop Piye or direct them the other way.
"You're going to get us killed!" Ahk scream-whispered, all too aware of the soldiers surrounding the city's entrance. He leant the entirety of his weight on Piye, attempting to pull them back, but they showed no sign of strain.
"It is meant to be," they said in a hush. "It is meant to be."
Their mouth closed but the words remained, whispered over and over again in your ears. Your own breathing had already hastened, fingers tense with your own terror, worsening as you met the eye of one of the guards.
"Ahk, they're looking at us!" You hissed behind Piye's back, still grasping helplessly at Piye's hands to attempt at pulling them back.
Panic stewed in your heart and leaked into your head, leaving you in a daze of confusion, unsure what to do to protect yourself and your friends. The soldiers were now focusing their attention on you, and Piye's eyes were still glowing.
It was then, within full view of the falcon soldiers and about ten feet from the city itself, that the magi released themself of your terrified grips, rising into the morning air. They opened their mouth and out came a voice that did not belong to them, lodged in their throat as they screamed over the rustling of guards and soldiers readying themselves for battle. Bells began to chime in the city, alerting officials and citizens to the threat now floating above the white walls of Memphis.
"If ye are in Heaven or on Earth, I am the Only One in your bodies," Piye spoke, loud enough to be heard throughout the city.
The sheer volume and the vibrations within the earth that followed had you crouching down, and covering your ears with your hands, a position Ahk soon adopted as well. You watched from the corner of your eye as the soldiers fell victim to that same, screeching pain digging into either side of their heads. Swarms of people began to leave the city through the back entrance, trampling over each other like fleeing rats.
"I am the Pure one – I shall not die a second time. I am He Who is Not Known."
Ahk's eyes darted upwards, recognition flooding him.
"They're calling in Amun," he murmured, just loud enough to hear between the pauses of Piye's words.
"Already?!"
"I don't think they can control it," Ahk said, but as Piye continued, he was forced to cover his ears once more, wincing away.
"Your forms, indeed all forms, are my habitation. My moment is within your bodies. I am The Unveiled," Piye said, and suddenly the aura around them stilled, fixed on a glow brighter than the sun.
For a moment all was silent. Then their mouth opened, gaped and unhinged from the skull as they looked to the sky. An ear-splitting note came from them, running through the earth and sky, even through the water that now bubbled on the shore as though heated by fire. Horror filled your chest, spreading quick through your veins till your body trembled and shook.
Light flooded out of their mouth, a great beam of sun cast into the dark morning sky. Their still-glowing eyes now gave their skull a hollowed look, filled with nothing but light, pouring out with the overflow. Such multitudes could not be contained to a mortal body.
"We need to get the hell out of here!" Ahk yelled over the horrifying screeching, attempting to cover his ears best he could while still reaching for you.
Hopeless, you reached out as well, finding his hand in the space between you and grasping it as though he were a ship in a storm. He pulled you along, stumbling on his feet just as you did. The deep hum running through the earth and water had already worsened, till the ground began to crack, the water of the Nile turning into steam at an alarming rate.
You said nothing to each other, but he led you into the city and you followed without question. Every two seconds you cast looks behind your shoulder, watching events carelessly unfold, and stumbling over yourself whenever Ahk increased his speed. Together, you barrelled down the straight pathway to your destination––the gleaming palace.
"Ahk, what are we going to do?" You asked in a shaky voice, burdened by stumbling feet and a racing heart.
"I don't know," he admitted in his own fear-laced tone. "We need to hide you."
"We can't hide forever!" You wrenched yourself out of his grasp, pulling the both of you into a side alley hidden from Piye's––or Amun's––eyes. "That Goddess wants us here for a reason. We have to face him eventually."
"What if they were just dreaming?" He grasped both your upper arms, looking into you with wide, terrified eyes. "What if that Goddess doesn't come? I. Cannot. Lose you."
"It's our only hope. Don't you believe in your own Gods?"
"Not since Amun tried to steal you from me," he said, still searching your face for something he clearly couldn't find.
"That's your fucking friend up there!" You said, pointing behind you to Piye, who was now floating above the city walls, their hair suspended as they continued to bellow with that horrible ringing sound. "I know for a fact Piye would give their life for you and you should do the same."
"I know, I know," he hissed. "But I won't risk you. I have to hide you –"
He reached for you again, but you swatted his hands away.
"I will not be hidden!"
"No, no, no, no, no," he began to murmur, his gaze flickering between you and Piye, far behind you. "No, you must stay away. Far away."
"Ahk, I'm n––"
He tore his sleeve, a habit he had apparently used enough to become good at, and promptly tied it around your mouth. You protested greatly, pushing and shoving and kicking him away. In the end it was that same struggle you never won––your hands were tied behind your back, quite literally, and your legs followed. Even as you writhed and yelled, you could note the tears streaking down his face.
"Don't you do this!" You said through the gag, your words muffled as he threw you over his shoulder.
"I must keep you safe. I cannot fulfill my role if I am worrying about you," he explained in a weak voice.
With that, he hid you away in an underground cellar, locking the door as he left. Try as you might––and you did try, from yelling to thrashing to crying––you couldn't move from your spot, tied to one of the pillars holding up the dirt ceiling.
As much as he promised not to hurt you or bind you in any way, he sure had done it a lot. Tears began to burn your own eyes, and soon they were falling, soaked up by the gag wrapped around your head.
Piye's unholy screeching had yet to stop, even within the earth. The vibrations you'd felt so fiercely were dulled with distance, a fact you were very relieved about, as any risk of cave-in would've held you mortified. It was a small comfort compared to the severity of your situation, but you tried to revel in it nonetheless.
Every now and then you'd thrash in your bonds again, hoping your continuous struggle had done you some sort of good. Each time you were proven wrong, and still you rubbed your ropes against the splintered wood that kept you there, praying the bonds would break.
A soft hum reverberated in the room, and for a moment you were terrified Amun (in Piye's body, of course,) was knocking at the door. But a popping sound marked the end of the tune, making way for a person to appear, their form tall and still nothing more than a white silhouette.
How many god-damned magic people am I going to meet in Egypt? you thought tiredly. Piye was already enough for you, but the bushy, almost circular hair of this person had you convinced it was someone else.
Eyes pulled themselves open. The only trait on the glowing, ethereal form, and you recognized them. The heat on your skin. The crawling unease trickling down your spine. You recalled a night's sleep spent in a restless haze, and it clicked––it had watched you. This had watched you, now reaching forward as though to touch you. Instinctively you flinched away, but you couldn't go anywhere, not bound to the pillar. You tried your best to cringe and strain away. It still touched you, first by its' fingertips, and the burning heat reached down from your forehead down into your sternum.
"Stop!" You cried when the entirety of its' hand spread over your forehead, sending searing pain through your nerves like electricity. With your shout it withdrew, seemingly surprised by your reaction.
"Whhhat iss your naammmee?" It asked in many voices that spoke one after another, stretching the words.
"... Amoke," you said quietly, still pushing yourself against the pillar, but thankful it was no longer hurting you.
Slowly, starting at their crown and spreading down to their feet, their image appeared through the light. Who stood before you was not someone you recognized, but there was something unearthly about them––as their mouth opened, you found long rows of sharp teeth, all ordered as if it were normal to have that many teeth. But they towered above your shrunken form, fiery gold eyes staring down.
"You are... a friend of Ahkmen's?" They breathed out.
"Y - you mean Ahkmenrah?"
"Yes," they said with a relieved sigh, a smile stretching too-wide across their face. You curled further into yourself at the sight of their sharp teeth. "How is he?"
"Fighting Amun, I think," you said, hoping it would help them along.
"Oh, right," they said, jumping back into action.
Circling you, they bent to untie your ropes, grabbing your hand and wrenching open the lock on the door. Without pause they bounded up the steps with you in tow, leading you out of the alley and back onto the main street. By now the sun had risen, now shining bright with its' familiar warmth, circled by a sky of blue.
"Come, we must –"
"Wait, for one second," you said, pulling on your hand to release their hold, but you couldn't shake them off. "Who are you?"
"... my name is Mahjur," they said in a quiet voice. "I don't know if you know of me."
"I've... heard some things," you said vaguely.
"Shall we go now?"
You nodded, and the two of you were off. The main street still led straight from the gates to the palace, Gyasi to your right and Piye to your left. You had no way of knowing which way Ahk had decided to go, but Mahjur seemed to have some idea, as they set off straight away for Piye.
When you reached the city gates, you found the ground ripped into pieces, lightning-like strikes running through the earth. You stumbled over them and jumped, reaching the riverside where Amun had unleashed a special hell of holy wrath. The Nile was still boiling, and the height of the water had gone down drastically already, matched by the haze of fog and steam now hiding Amun, and Piye, from view. Spilt blood soaked your sandals, reaching up to the soles of your feet in a sticky liqueur. Sickness suddenly overtook you, nearly vomitting from the sensation even despite your previous run-ins with blood-soaked limbs, memories of dry blood tainting your tongue.
"Who has brought me to this form?" He asked from Piye's mouth, too deep for them, too roaring and ear-piercing.
"I am," said a woman, and your attention zipped to a figure standing atop the city gates, looking up at Amun. "I came to a magi in a dream and asked them to summon you."
The Goddess.
"Who is that?" You asked Mahjur quietly.
"Ma'at," they answered. "Goddess of order. I asked her to help. Knew she wouldn't stand by if she knew a God was breaking the natural order."
"Can we help her?"
"Yeah. Just need to wait for Ahkmen to get back from the palace," they said, looking back over their shoulder towards the shining palace in the distance. "He's fetching his royals and their soldiers under the guise of protecting the city. Once they're here, we can take down Amun, and Ahkmen can deliver a final blow. That'll reinstate him as Pharaoh."
"You've thought this through."
"Of course I have. I actually plan ahead, unlike Ahk."
"You can say that again," you mumbled beneath your breath.
Mahjur didn't respond, but took your hand again, pulling you out past the giant walls. The cracks in the ground were large enough that, at times, you needed to jump over the crevices, dodging the crumbling earth leading into a bottom you couldn't see. Before you could ask what to do, Mahjur began to search through the stalls still put together after Amun's rampage.
Caught up in whatever Mahjur was searching for, you remained unaware of Amun's argument with Ma'at, one that had digressed into nothing more than angry yelling. His eyes inevitably fell to you, and the glow within them tripled.
"Amoke," he said in a whisper that still echoed like drums.
You whirled around with eyes big as the moon. He, Piye and Amun, looked upon you with a smile that crawled across the darkened skin, illuminated by both the glow in his eyes and the rising daylight. Petrified into place, you could do nothing but watch as he lowered himself to your level. In Piye's body, Amun still towered over you, just as he had inhabiting his golden statue.
"Don't you look away from me, Amun!" Ma'at yelled from the top of the wall.
Even as the Goddess yelled, he did not tear his gaze from you. You began to back up, looking behind you to try and find Mahjur, but they were as scared stiff as you were. They would not help you, and Ma'at was too far away.
He snatched you in his arms, grinning as though he'd won some sort of prize. In Piye's face, glowing with Amun's power, you found something familiar––hunger. Ahk's hunger, of cannibals, of the rich. Your hands shook, followed by your heart thundering in your chest till you were sure your veins would explode. His smile was too wide, like Mahjur's, but empty and near expressionless.
"Pretty little thing," he said softly, scanning your face.
Wings of green and gold spread out above Amun's head, catching your eye as he attempted to lean in closer to you. Your eyes further widened when they began to descend, growing larger till the ground shook with the landing of heavy feet, marking Ma'at's footprints in the earth that burnt at the touch of her skin.
"How dare you look away from me," she said in a voice that trembled with her fury, barely contained in her mortal form.
A large hand came over Amun's head, wrenching on his––or rather Piye's––long, silver hair. Under Ma'at's control, he turned to face her with ire in his gritted teeth.
The Goddess, who had at first seemed rather small and delicate, had grown to twice the size of even Piye, meaning she seemed much like a statue to you and Mahjur. Her wings that came from nowhere now flared out, appearing to crown her head that she held high. Her eyes did not glow, but her anger reverberated in the air, thrumming in your bones.
"You claim to be a lord of all creation," she said through a fixed jaw, forcing Amun back and kneeing him in the face, hard enough to hear an audible crack that you winced away from. "And then you kill your children, betray the one who saved your armies, attempt to steal from the one who gave you back your power. You were not born yesterday, Amun."
When Ahk left you tied up in a cellar, the tears that lined his face grew cold in the wind of his running footsteps. His pace was slowed by the uphill slant, but he pushed himself as far as he dare, and made it to the bottom of the palace entrance in a short amount of time.
He noted throughout his run an astonishing absence of people. No people in their homes, no markets setting up, no guards at the palace door. As he made his way up the stairs, the reason for it became clear––the sound of many footsteps all trampling over each other came from within the pristine white walls of his home, coupled with fretting voices talking muted behind the walls. He cracked open the door to the inner chambers, and found his hypothesis to be correct.
The whole of the city––or those who had decided not to flee––were hidden within the palace. At the other side of the room sat the raised floor of the throne, and upon it sat Gyasi, flanked by the lesser advisors of Ahk's father. He kept a perfectly still expression, but Ahk knew better––Gyasi panicked under stress but seeked action in times of peace.
Keeping his head low, Ahk crept through the crowd, a hand on the wall to ensure he wouldn't lose himself. A few of the people he passed had hanging swords attached to their hips, and so he stole two just in case, hoping he wouldn't have to use either. Through the mutterings he heard, there were a good deal of complaints about Gyasi––a fact he definitely liked, though his delight was shortlived, as he soon heard a fair amount of criticisms on himself as well.
Murmurings and voices grew louder, more concerned as Amun's voice pierced the thick walls, sparking panic among the crowd. People began to move, bumping against each other and pushing one another aside. Ahk was inevitably hurt as well, thrown against the wall and landing on the floor.
It came to such a height that Gyasi stood, yelling a call to attention above the crowd, who stilled on command.
"Amun will not kill his devotees," he ensured, the skin of his neck dangling as he shouted. "He is searching for the False King and his whore."
Ahk could physically feel his irises shrink as he singled down on Gyasi, hatred boiling in his head.
"He is seeking a citizen," Ahk said, projecting his voice to speak over the old man stealing his throne.
Gasps came from those around him, the crowd suddenly parting completely, leaving him centered out from the bustling heads. Gyasi narrowed his eyes as he saw him.
"A citizen named Amoke. They are my friend, so I must protect them, but I will not abandon my people, leave them helpless in the hands of an artifact," Ahk continued as he stepped forward, making his way to the throne, where Gyasi began to back away. "Do you really think keeping everyone here is going to work?"
"We are dealing with your mess! It is undignified to insult someone cleaning up after you," Gyasi said with furrowed brows, a grimace and a sneer forming simultaneously on his crooked lips.
"I think it's alright if they're doing a godawful job at it," Ahk said flatly. "You need to get the citizens out of here, hide them in the brush of the Nile. If Amun breaches the city walls, this is the first place he will look, and he will demolish every living thing he sees. He is aiming to kill my friend, Amoke, and he does not care if others die in the process."
His words were doing little to quell the audience's worries, but that was his aim, as detrimental as it might be to the health of his citizens.
"You think you know better than I? I have been protecting the people of this city longer than you've been alive."
"You are a remnant of my father's rule. A relic from a time of barbaric violence and meaningless bloodshed. Now get the people to the nearest outcrop of the Nile. You and I have a God to face, if you're truly ready to protect Kemet," Ahk said, offering forward one of his swords.
"... very well," Gyasi said slowly, grasping the sword and drawing it to hilt on his hip. More murmurings came from the crowd that watched the argument. "Pikta, divide the populace and take them in groups. Divide soldiers evenly as you can."
"Yes, sir," said a soldier, who bowed and ran to the front of the room to obey.
"Is Amun outside?" Gyasi asked as he made his way to the entrance of the palace, Ahk at his side.
"He's at the city gates in Piye's body," Ahk said, and as the two of them breached the threshold, he found he could still see Piye's flying body in the distance.
"That beast?" He said with raised brows. "We have quite the battle ahead."
"Hopefully, we won't have to use these swords. We should have the help of a Goddess," Ahk said. "She came to Piye in a dream a little while ago and instructed us on the beginnings of a plan. It is our duty to help her."
"How do you know it isn't a trick?"
"We don't."
The two men began to run down the pathway, both sets of eyes trained on the distant crumbling walls of the city, allowing them to see a tall woman holding a man by his neck against the reflected sun on the Nile. As Ahk noticed two much smaller onlookers, his pace doubled in speed till he bounded down the street. He reached the end much sooner than Gyasi, but it didn't take long till both of them stood shocked, watching Ma'at raise Piye––Amun––into the sky on long, emerald and gold wings.
"I am the Lord of this world," Amun growled, a statement that sent him crashing towards the earth, Ma'at's muscled arm pounding him down.
She stalked over to him, footsteps drumming against the ground till she knelt at his side, grabbing his hair and pulling his face out of the mud.
"I want you to say that to Ptah," she said, before letting his head fall back down. "Mahjur."
Ahk's heart froze at the name. You watched it happen, how his body seized, eyes darting to the God beside you. He lost feeling in all his limbs as Mahjur stepped forward, glancing at Ahk before quickly looking away and joining Ma'at's side.
The two Gods––Ma'at and Mahjur––spoke to each other quietly, and most everyone present listened in with shocked expressions. What you didn't notice, caught up in Ahk's reaction to his old friend, was Amun sinking into the earth. You only realized this as you, too, began to lower into the earth. Beneath you, hands had grasped your ankles and pulled you down.
"Um, Ahk...!" You said in hyperventilated gasps, helpless on how to save yourself.
You no longer had control of your legs, unable to pull them upwards, and there was nowhere your arms could hold onto. Ahk looked to you, shouting when he caught the tail-end of you disappearing wholly into the ground. He ran to where you stood, but it was too late, and Amun was raising himself into the sky with you bound to him.
"Amoke!" Ahk cried.
“They do not belong to you,” Amun said with a smile, unsheathing a knife and baring it to those watching him in an act of vanity. “It’s mine.”
From above, those gathered at the city gates seemed small––even Ma'at, who was twice your height. You watched, unable to breathe through your bindings, as an object materialized in Ma'at's hand and was handed to Ahk with words you couldn't hear. The point of it directed to you, and in an instant you recognized it.
A hornbow.
The tip of the arrow pointed straight to you, and you writhed, desperately trying to escape Amun's grasp and worm out of the way. But he held you fast, and through his speech you couldn't hear over the thundering of your flowing blood, he laughed and held you tighter yet.
Twang.
The drawstring shot back into place, sending the arrow zipping through the sky, and straight into Piye's chest. Amun's arms and magical bindings faded away, and you fell through the open air. Ahk ran to catch you, careening straight into the still-steamy river with open arms. His efforts were not for nothing, as he caught you, using the water to ease your descent as well.
"They asked me to do it," Ahk said through tears pouring out of his eyes, falling as a rainstorm does, as waterfalls do, as blood does from the tip of a sword. "They asked me to shoot them. I didn't think. I saw you, and – and – I didn't –"
"It's going to be alright," you whispered in a shaky voice, comforting best you could even with your trembling hands. His shoulders wracked with heavy sobs as he hid his face in the crook of your neck, wide, haunted eyes cast over your back.
You looked upwards, watching what Ahk could not bear to see. Piye, and Amun, were suspended in open space, the end of a glittering arrow buried in their chest. As the body began to rise higher, your gaze fell to Ma'at and Mahjur still on the shore. They were chanting, both of them––something you couldn't hear, but their eyes began to glow, the veins in their body shining through their skin. You tapped Ahk's shoulders, asking him in a murmur to look. He reluctantly turned to watch.
The heavenly glow emanating from Piye's bones and eyes began to separate from the physical body, peeling away from itself till all that remained of it was a golden shell, shimmering and translucent. Your mouth fell open, watching the two forms pull away from each other.
Once Piye was fully separated from what you guessed was Amun, they fell down into the river, where Ahk also stumbled weakly to catch them. They did not wake, but the slow up and down of their chest marked that they were still breathing despite the arrow piercing them.
You turned back to the power of Amun, transforming from Piye's body to the symbol of the sun. The spells falling from Mahjur and Ma'at grew slowly louder, lifting Amun's essence through the sky, till it dissipated, and fell into the sun.
Silence.
The hum of magic, of broiling Gods and Goddesses came to a halt, and time stood still. It felt as though the world around you had been imbued with enchantments, marinated in it, and then separated entirely, cut off from the feeling of holiness. Your chest had caved in, leaving you near unable to breathe.
No wind. No movement in the water.
Someone was sobbing––you turned to search for the source, and found Ahk knelt in the water with Piye in his arms. His face was buried in his vizier's neck, quiet apologies coming from his trembling lips, matched by fevered hands.
"Bring them here, Ahkmenrah," Ma'at said softly, beckoning the Pharaoh.
He turned to face her, slowly breathed away the tears still building in his eyes, and carried Piye to shore best he could. When he reached Ma'at's feet, he set his friend down to life flat on the earth.
"Oh you young men," Ma'at murmured as she knelt, a hand poised over Piye and the arrow. "Shu of the morning... who have power over those who flash among the sun-folk, whose arms move about and whose heads sway to and fro... may they move about every day."
Piye's eyes fluttered slowly open, a soft groan escaping them as they blinked. The arrow lodged in their chest dissipated to no more than ash. Ahk gasped, a wide grin spreading across his features as he once more knelt to his knees, helping Piye to sit up.
"Are you alright, my friend?" He asked hurriedly, scanning over the healing injury.
"I... I can't see," Piye murmured in a breath, still swaying from the weakness of their muscles. They fell against Ahk. "I can't see anymore."
"What? How –"
"Oh Gods," Piye said, their breathing quickening. "It's as if I am a child again."
"Amun claimed your magic," Ma'at said softly. She hadn't ever looked you in the eye, but she met the magi's, a kinder look on her than ever before. "To save you and your.. friends, I locked Amun into the sun, with help from Mahjur."
Mahjur gingerly stepped up behind Ma'at, looking to you, then Piye, and to the ground below Ahk.
"I am afraid your magic intwined with Amun’s, and I had to lock it into the sky as well, to rid of him," she finished. “Your magic is what gave you eyesight to begin with, if you remember those years.”
"I... do I look.. the same?" They asked in a shaky voice.
"Taller than anything," Ahk said instantly. "Dark skin. White hair. You look the same."
"But with no... magic," they murmured.
"You may still have remnants. Most people do have a base magic. You might be able to do small spells," Mahjur said. You watched Ahk bite into his cheek and look down.
Piye cried––you expected little else, and you waited patiently as they came to process everything that had just happened. When they requested a rundown of the events (as apparently their memory was not fantastic), Ahk happily explained what had come to pass, with his usual dramatic debonair. Ma'at stayed and chuckled at certain points, but stood when Ahk finished.
Movement caught the corner of your eye, and your gaze darted upwards, ready for any return of danger. But what you found instead were people––lots of people, coming from several different directions and circling you, Ahk, the two Gods, Piye, and Gyasi. They were muttering amongst themselves, and from what you heard they appeared to be discussing the validity of Ahk's story.
"I must return to the Duat before anything else decides to unhinge itself from the natural order," Ma'at said at the end of Ahk's retelling. Mahjur, who had taken a seat beside the Goddess, stood as well.
"Wait, Ma'at," Ahk said, standing with a hand out, hoping to halt her. She turned expectantly. "Can I... Mahjur..."
She glanced between the two, who even now were too nervous to look at each other. You watched on though, watched how timid and shaky they both grew, itching terribly to acknowledge one another.
"... very well," Ma'at sighed. "I'll give you a moment."
Ahk didn't even leave time to thank Ma'at for the allowance. He went straight to his friend, colliding with them and wrapping his arms so tight round them you could swear it'd kill a regular human. Mahjur had much of the same attitude, tears and laughter coming simultaneously from them.
"I will be waiting for you," they said with the biggest grin, parting for a very short moment to stroke the side of his face. "I wait for you in the field of reeds."
"I await my death, then," Ahk laughed giddily, followed by his friend bursting into giggles as well. You couldn't help but grin, but you hid it behind your hand.
"Come now, Mahjur," Ma'at commanded, and the two friends reluctantly parted, allowing Mahjur to rejoin Ma'at.
They stood shoulder to shoulder, though Ma'at was still a great deal taller than everyone present, and in a flash they were gone. Murmurings in the crowd grew in volume, people drawing closer as they realized their Pharaoh had never lied.
They had truly seen Ma’at, the Goddess of peace.
Relief––that was the only way to explain it. Pure, unaltered relief, flooding your veins, flooding your thoughts. Tremors in your hand that you didn't even notice were there disappeared, the knot in your brow fading with it. Air felt like it had been made anew, refreshed after a hundred years of a solitary cave, and you could smile. No more Gods.
Finally.

u have advanced??????? wow. tips to qualify mains please??? help me with my modules.how do i solve them?????????
hnnng idk bestie here's some short tips n like if u want something more specific u can send another ask or dm me?
pay attention in class. sit in the front. listen out for what things the teacher puts an emphasis on. ask questions. yes, even the stupid ones. especially the stupid ones bc those are fundamentals u cannot miss bc a shaky foundation leads to a shaky building. also pay attention to ur teachers. theyve been doing this since before u even knew about jee they know what theyre doing. most of them want whats best for u, and if not specifically that, whats best for them n their institute which are usually similar things. im not saying blindly trust them without criticism but have some faith. dont dismiss them they prolly know better than u. if id followed my teachers instructions i prolly wouldnt have had to drop (but thats a discussion for another day lol).
revise notes on a regular basis. like. the day u studied it in class. then the next day. then a week later. then 2 weeks later. then a month later. google the curve of forgetting for more accurate time stamps. use flashcards for formulae n stuff that u have to memorise like inorganic chem.
analyse past papers. recognise the most important topics. but also there are some small chapters that are quite easy and some people skip them thinking there wont be any questions from them. ive given 4 papers of mains, and i can confirm that is utter bullshit. 1 question each from units and measurements, mathematical reasoning, stats, chemistry in everyday life, polymers, are guaranteed. u can easily secure at least those marks by spending just a little bit of time on them. esp for jee mains its relatively better to cover a wide range of topics with medium depth instead of just some but with deep understanding (the latter works well for advanced tho).
make a friend or two whos in the same boat as u, preparing for jee n try to keep each other accountable. tell each other everyday what ure going to study that day n then check back the next day. remind each other hlep each other out. also be friendly with the class toppers sometimes they can solve ur doubts better than teachers just bc something they explain clicks better. whenever i get confused about logarithms i think back to what my 9th grade classmate told me when i asked him to explain in 1 sentence n had him repeat it slowly to me multiple times. its burned in my memory and helped me so much.
practice tests. set the proper 3 hour limit and solve them. be honest w urself ure doing this for u. no point scoring 256/300 to impress ur teacher if u cheated bc on the day of the exam ure going to be screwed. in the beginning try out different strategies, different ones work for different ppl. like for me, math is my favourite and i find it easier than the other 2 so i do it first and it gives me confidence. then i move on to physics and then chem. some people look over the entire paper n solve the easiest from every section first, then the medium ones, then the tough ones. experiment in ur practice tests n figure out whats best for u n ur test taking. after the test, analyse. see what u got wrong, why u got it wrong. clarify doubts. mark problem questions to revise and solve again later. no point in solving more n more questions if theres no retention or learning.
for solving books specifically under the cut bc this is getting too long lol:
stick to 1 or 2 books max per subject. make them ur holy books and swear by them. if ure doing coaching then the modules provided by them are a very good option bc theyre specifically for jee and will cover what u need. coaching teachers will have a lot of experience with them too so u'll have an easy time with doubts clarification. if u choose other books tho, still consult with ur teacher and ask them to tell u what's relevant and what isnt and dont waste ur time on whats not. it might make u look or feel smarter to be solving questions on stuff thats beyond the scope of the exam but u literally dont need it and the syllabus is already very vast so ure just going to waste time and brainspace. like sure if ure interested study it in ur own time but dont make it an Important Must Do thing.
ok now that u have ur book with everything relevant to jee, make sure u devour them. study the theory alongside ur class notes. solve a few questions of corresponding topics the day they are covered so u dont have so many questions lined up at the end of the chapter. like if i studied friction in newton's laws of motion today, i'll solve the questions relevant to friction today itself. or u know this week. like,, keep it current. then while solving, speak out loud and explain the problem to urself like ure teaching someone else (or better yet, find someone to teach them to. stuffed toys, younger siblings, ur classmate, grandparents, online friend, whichever works). mark all the questions that took u longer than 5 mins or u cant solve at all. dog ear the pages. try them again the next day. then again a few days later. take the ones u still cant solve to ur teacher. try n ask for just a hint once and try again. and then if u cant then ask for the solution. DO NOT go on the internet. ur brain doesnt have to work for it then n u think u got it but u dont got it. make ur brain work for the solution so it'll remember.
now that uve given a good shot to every question and figured out where u stumble. analyse a bit. find a pattern if theres any: like a certain concept that is weak or something ure not understanding. read the theory for it if u have to n ask questions to clarify. then solve these problem questions again and again until u know every question well enough to be able to explain to someone. skip over the easy ones u dont gotta do them again n again, focus on the ones u stumbled on. theyre the weak spots. no use strengthening whats already strong enough.
and uh keep a notebook of the solutions of the questions u solve so that u dont have to go crazy searching for them in an emergency. like ur paper is tomorrow and u cant figure out this question that uve been trying for 1 hour then its a good time to review ur previous solution and refresh ur memory. often if uve practiced enough n its just exam stress etc thats making ur mind go blank then just a hint will be enough to remind u.
also this is more general but just. be consistent. small consistent efforts over multiple days instead of a big one in 1 day. u’ll retain better and ur brain does better with multiple small chunks spread out over an interval than a lot of stuff in a small one. and its ok to to have an off day dont kill urself over academics ur health is more important always. not getting into ur dream college might fuck u up but itll heal but ur health is more precarious and not getting enough sleep or food will def fuck u up and the consequences are a lot harder to deal with. dont think about the big picture or u’ll freak urself out just think about the next small step u can take. getting 99 percentile feels impossible but solving 10 questions for it does not. dont get disheartened by test results if ure working hard n smart u wont fail. even if u dont get into ur dream college u’ll have an excellent work ethic that’ll take u places u never thought of in ur wildest dreams. more than anything, be kind to urself and work n play hard.
