As promised this was supposed to be for the anniversary with the short Dimentio animation but I kinda forgor and then I got busy whoopsie daisy. I'm a big fan of the og design so I didn't change much, just some personal quality of life tweaks here and there

how would you make the world 7 endboss better [besides fixing the op-pls-fix strat with luigi, of which i would fix by making such a strat enrage the boss]
I'm not sure if I'd call making it better, more as fixing current problems. I love Bonechill a lot and even almost died to him which for SPM doesn't happen all the time with bossess.
When it comes to the getting stuck between the ceiling strat, if that's what you mean, I honestly think there's a solution to entirely get rid of it and it's literally: remove the damn ceiling.
We're in heaven and heaven screams to me open space. The entire Chapter area is pretty open already. By all means keep the walls, just put the ceiling higher or remove it! Also imagine if the battle arena was instead a colloseum, like base the arena on the architecture on that of ancient Greek or Rome like the rest of the level. That'd be dope I think!!
The idea to make the boss enraged is a fun concept but when you get into the position to perform the exploit Bonechill can't really do much against you or even hit you from what I remember which makes this kind of... useles... so it'd need another adjustment!
I'm not sure what I'd add, I can't find really dynamic videos of the fight on the internet so....if he already doesn't do those things maybe:
- make bonechill lean back at times so you can't go guns blazing with Luigi and spam jump BUT in return make him also lean more down and forward after a few attacks. This way you can use other characters (wow!) as well as have to somewhat plan out your attacks. If not lean back then maybe if you hit him a bit too much on the head with Luigis leap he covers his head with his wings and it deals 0 damage
- his uh, wheelchair barrel takes less damage than the head which encourages to wait for him to lean forward
I don't remember what other attacks he had unfortunately. I tried to replay it not to spread misinformation but I'm out of batteries and

shouldn't whitespace sammer kingdom be labelled as chapter -1
Since the chapters are labelled main_number-sub_number if it was -1 then it'd be 6--1
This doesn't really seem good to look at and without the main chapter it's confusing because its not the world from Chapter 1 (Lineland road), its still the world from Chapter 6 with the assets erased.
if we wanna get silly -- makes a + in math so it turns into a normal 1
Honestly White Space Sammers Kingdom (which would count as 6-3 but is changed back to 6-1 since its basically as if your progress resets) is currently p good as is.

I have finished 4 (by technicality 6) Super Paper Mario drawings that I will only be able to post more or less a year from now on (this number will increase by then)
I trust my silly ass to not accidentally share it by accident but I'm gonna sound so insane every time I mention it here without being able to provide evidence
just know I'm not hearing voices nor seeing shadows it's all real i swear there might be a trailer sometime

every 25th sammer should have had unique fights, or at least just End Boss [number one hundo]
Never went beyond the required amount of Sammer fights to progress the game. I already felt bored having to mash buttons for 23 bosses (i think it was) and wasn't bothered to return for completion awards.
I'm dissapointed that there isn't more variety for example, how you mentioned, mini bossess or a final boss but I'm also not suprised.
I don't know if this change would've made it more fun to go through 100 fights though.

why does almost every hp item cure poison in spm, shouldn't only a certain number of them do that
Consider the following:
being poisoned is annoying.
Number 1 because youre loosing precious health overtime where you can either ignore or seek the antidote for. Looking for an antidote is daunting because you become focused on finding a mushroom instead of progressing the level with consideration. It becomes a speedrun to get from one question block to another and it's then easy to miss stuff or just simply stop caring at the story. You also don't want to die because if you haven't saved in a while you'll loose a lot of progress, unless you were healthy enough when you got poisoned or have a healing item on you. If you do have one then congrats you're freed.
Since the inventory is rather limited it could become tedious to buy separate items for healing then other for status effects. This isn't pokemon you don't have a large bag.
Number 2 since I'm writing every single post from memory I can get stuff wrong but if Im not mistaken being damaged also flings you back. The last thing you would want is to fall from a platform just because an enemy a few rooms back accidentally hit you and you're still suffering those consequences.
Lore wise its debatable but it's not too much of a stretch logically. Like this is supposed to heal you, fix your leg remove a bruise or even internal bleeding. Poison, one you get hit with not one you drink, would probably damage your skin other than anything which is in the range of the healing items definition.
Personally I'm glad they did it like this, you don't have to worry about having a specific situational item on you at all times.

You know your bad end au remind me of this other au call bad end friends au, which consist of cartoon characters being possessed or get mad with power, the most prominent characters there are bipper (gravity falls), ice prince Finn (adventure time) and beast! Wirt (over the garden wall)
note: the last one is not actually canon
I've only seen a speedpaint of these characters together so I somewhat recognise the title of the group. I thought it was just characters people put together in art not an au? I don't know, I wasn't really that interested back then in such things but I'm aware of their existence.
I will actually admit that when I originally realised I should call my paper mario au something I considered every option that didn't have bad end in the name first because I didn't want to seem like I ripped it off or was directly inspired by that, since that just isnt the case. Unfortunately I wasn't content with any of the options so I settled on Bad End AU which at least does the job.

so you complained about the lack of proper heart/door-to-world colorization in half the chapters
as far as i can tell the background in world 4 should have green tinge instead of blue
Okay so funny thing but Chapter 4 is one of the Chapters that I consider themed good.
Space is super duper cool and the dark blue mixed with lighter and darker stars it already has is phenomenal. I would not for the world want it changed.
This is more from art experience but green is a colour that likes to be balanced out (most colours do frankly but green is a little special). It's a hue that pops out a lot, so unless its intentional, often than not you'd want to use it controlled amounts. It's easier to stare at blue than green. The green sky would be pretty at first but soon would become very difficult to look at for an extended period of time which is something no one wants. It also helps obstacles and doors stick out. Not to mention space is often associated with dark blue in media.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think what makes up in terms of being Pure Heart themed, to the space part being blue/black, is: your companion, Squirps, and the colour scheme of the Whoa Zone. Squirps assists you most of the journey in space, he's neon green and sticks out in his surroundings, not to mention the floating green squares and alien doors in the moon walking part. The Whoa zone has green on the floor, doors and walls as well as a greenish-blueish tone in the background.
There's plenty enough of green in this chapter. Just the right amount really. Again theming and palette great, level design arguable...
If you're curious which chapters I consider well colour themed its: Chapter 2, Chapter 4, Chapter 7 and Chapter 8.
I've actually redesigned the first part of Chapter 1 at one point [og post here for context], I'm considering finishing it and maybe doing the same to the other ones that I didn't mention above or maybe all.

only the background would be colored violet in the overthere
^ Okay so this is relating to me saying that Chapters should be based around the colour of the Pure Heart.
When it comes to the Overthere I can get behind everything being white-ish and there is a reason:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Luvbi.
If you didn't know, and [SPOILER ALERT] if you don't want to know, Luvbi is a disguised Pure Heart. Chapter 7 is the only Chapter in the game where you receive two Pure Hearts (by a technicality). You revive the Purple Pure Heart from Sammers Kingdom with Jaydes help, leave and go back in to get the last one. Since immediately after is Chapter 8 with Castle Bleck, and everything there matches the Chaos Heart, if we go by the colour theme rule there wouldn't be a chance to have a white themed area.
I think it's actually pretty smart that you go to both Underwhere and Overthere (Hell and Heaven) in the same Chapter because both fit thematically and you get to experience both colour palettes without having to tamper with the story because remember that the White Pure Heart is the LAST one you collect. You can't collect another one because there's a set number of them and after this it's immediately Castle Bleck. Since the Chaos Heart is already monotone it being white is actually perfect.
Chapter 7 overall is the one I have the least issues with thematically and artistically (we won't talk about the level design in the Overthere because everyone knows how horrible it is (experienced it), lets appreciate the first part of the Underwhere being easy to navigate and having a kickass lake with death hands that want to drown you instead)
Violet skies are pretty but I don't mind the bright blue one that we already have.

i want francis' comeuppance to be a bit more comedic
imagine if he has a more sophisticated older brother that berates him for egregious womanizing and stealing his kitbash tools
Okay so Francis is a character whose existence is almost like taboo in the SPM community and everyone who remembers Chapter 3 knows exactly why.
While his appearance is already kinda comedic (as exaggerated gamer stereotype) I do think that making it even more comedic could've made it more enjoyable or at least maybe a little less uncomfortable depending how we'd write it. Like imagine at some point his MOTHER (glasses, red lipstick and an apron) comes downstairs, gives him a lecture and apologies for his behaviour to the gang before dragging him away.

additional change to the story: don't divide each chapter into sub-chapters, and have the doors go straight to important places [such as straight to yold town] unless we talking sammer kingdom
While removing the sub-chapters sounds honestly pretty good I'm not sure if I'd want the doors to skip certain parts of the game.
The sub-chapters serve as exactly what you'd want doors above to do. Kinda. They take you near the important location and skip the journey that the crew would have to realistically travel. I mean think about it Chapter 1-1 is a grass field in the mountains while Chapter 1-2 and onwards is a desert.
I presume you could make it an excuse with a magical door but even if we consider that, I don't think I'd like to skip from Bestovius's house, for example, immediately to Yold Town. The walk you take to the village not only gives you stuff to do but you also have a lead up to it and don't just pop in without an explanation. When you actually find it during your playthrough you might feel a little suprised to see a civilization, but also rewarded because it's a nice change from the dead wastelands. It's a safe space where you can stock up on items and interact with characters. It's an adventure, removing the journey kinda defeats the point. It's nice to get to know the environment you're in and take in the view.
I do have my personal issue with sub-chapters though: the fact that if you leave the level before reaching the Pure Heart, you have to replay each previously completed sub-chapter again. This issue dissapears after you complete the whole Chapter since you are now given an option to select your destination but to this day I remember that I had to leave the game during Chapter 3-3 (because busy) and came back with the information that I have to start all over again. Why divide it so much if I can't even return to the segment that I was in? Is it the short paper narration that is supposed to make it worth it? I like the short text snippets from the Narrator but theyre not worth an hour of backtracking.
I'm completely fine with the doors taking you straight to important places after you've already finished the chapter. If you're replying the level it's either for collectables or you want to catch all the things you missed lore wise and maybe even find secrets.
So while I can absolutely see Super Paper Mario being without sub-chapters and even entertain the idea, I don't want the doors to take away a lot of the journey (with one exception). You walk to Merlees house in this beautiful orange world that would be a crime to skip. You get to float in space before reaching any solid ground. You get to walk through hell and ride a boat to Mistress Death herself. It's really really cool and also shows that the journey isn't that easy for the heroes. The stakes are high and there are a lot of obstacles to conquer.

the underchomp was a fun change of pace but i think there should have been additional challenges like that
It was definitely suprising. I'll say though, being introduced to a one time game mechanic with its own rules spontaneously can throw people off.
I remember watching someones playthrough and they weren't exactly sure what to do in this situation since before that you don't really have an effect sheet/description for certain things and, well, before you really didnt have to worry about getting hit since you had the ability to dodge. In this case you're locked in place. The person died to it and then realised they can apparently use the Pixls in this fight which turned out extremely useful, maybe even crucial. You have the stats of characters IF you examine them with Tippi or have a card but otherwise you're left guessing.
Overall if challenges like that more present in the game it would add variety but more doesn't always mean better. SPM already mixes a lot of styles, from the Brobot fight in space being a shooter, Fracktail being dynamic in 2D and 3D simultaneously, and the Underchomp like you mentioned. Maybe there are a few more that I don't remember but it's honestly already pretty cool as it is. Maybe as additional challenges, that could work nice alongside the Pit of 100 Trials.

mimi reminds me of veruca salt
sic the squirrels on her
I can't tell if you mean the band or the Willy Wonka character but I'm assuming the second!
I've never heard of this character before (I never watched any Wonka movies, not really interested in them) but I did find the performance 'I Want It Now' on YouTube.
Based off this one video I can kinda see it? She's quite a brat! And a greedy one at that! She's also small and seems to care about her looks based on the well-cared hair which certainly fits Mimis behaviour in SPM.
