Park Jongseong had the most beautiful eyes in the whole planet.

At least that’s what you think. You had a strange affinity for those beautiful brown orbs ever since you’ve seen them up close. The way his eyelids perfectly gave them their shape, and the way his eyelashes fluttered whenever he stared at you or something else had made them a wonderful pair you swore you wouldn’t get enough of. It was your most favorite part of his whole face.

It’d give you more time to spend with your busy man, maybe go on quick dates without having to think about privacy. Unfortunately, everyone’s eyes are on him and his members, so you’d often spend time alone.

Now, you and Jay are both huddled up in your bunk bed after his music video shooting, the very spot being his retreat whenever he finds himself at the peak of exhaustion. Your hands are on his hair while his arms are snugly wrapped around your waist–just the perfect sleeping position on a rainy afternoon.

“Jjong.” you mutter, looking over your shoulder to see if he was asleep or not.

“Yeah?” he immediately responds, letting you know that he was awake for a while. “Need help with something, Y/N?”

“Let me put makeup on you.”

He blinks at you, taken aback by the sudden statement. “Suddenly?”

You toss slowly to face him, giving him a gentle kiss on the tip of his nose. “I've been wanting to work on my eyeshadow skills, love. You've got such beautiful eyes to put some colors on.”

Flustered, he bites the inside of his cheek, trying to hold back a chuckle or a smile. He never knew you loved his eyes so much. “I appreciate that, sweetheart, but what's all this for?”

You shake your head. “This rainy weather is seriously weighing me down and I could use some activity at home. Would you like to be my model, Mr. Park?”

“Mm-hmm.” you nod. “Now will you open your eyes for me, love? Wanna see how it looks so far.”

He obliges, slowly lifting his eyelids only to be welcomed by a sight that causes his jaw to slightly drop.

In general, some biographies hint towards the contestants canon counterparts, such as the dream section for both Mary and Cameron basically being what Jo and canon Cameron were like. However, some biographies might foreshadow what will happen to the character in the competition…

Now for more specific stuff:

Brick’s chosen movie, Surge of Hassan, is based on the movie Sergeant Hassan

Her personality is modeled strongly off of her prototype design, as she sports as a more callous and brutish demeanor. Regardless, she’s still a momma’s boy!

Mary’s fav song, Summer and a Typhoon by Trolly Hell, references Spring and a Storm by Tally Hall

I wanted him to be the definition of a girl-failure but still have an interest in sports.

Staci’s fav music artist, Glad Donna, references Madonna

Staci’s fav movie, Rude Gals starring Reggie and Janelle as characters, references Mean Girls which has Janice and Regina as prominent characters.

Canon Staci’s biography mentions being a hairdresser, so that tiny trait is now a bigger part of her personality here. She embodies that judgey, gossip-loving stereotype of female hairstylists. Staci in canon also has a tendency to lie, so does this one, but is just more… convincing about it.

Mike’s fav movie, Earthdog Day, is based on the movie Groundhog Day.

Mike’s dream date, Lorrison Ellie, references Laurie Elliot, the voice actor of Jo who’s also a comedian.

Mike has DID still, and some parts of his biography allude to smiles alters…

Mike’s personality is inspired by Jimmy Two Shoes, since beta Mike looks a lot like Jimmy Two Shoes, who is another character his voice actor plays as. Jimmy is a cheerful and loving boy despite literally being a resident of hell, similar to how upbeat Mike is despite his…not-so-wholesome past. Also, Jim’s series is a light-hearted comedy show which is why Mike is a comedian.

The book Scott was talking about in the job section of his biography is Where The Red Fern Grows. While he acquires a raccoon army to hunt down two hounds, the books stars a boy and his two redhounds hunting down raccoons.

Prototype Scott has design elements from Canon Brick, so obviously I had to make Scott a cadet too! …Or so it seems.

Cam’s fav video game soundtrack, The Myth of Link, is based on The Legend of Zelda.

Cameron mentioning that scrib has bad luck but that not deterring zaps is based on how his official prototype design resembles like Mickey n Jay, two boys from RR who are quite unlucky but still remain determined to achieve their goals in the competition.

This Cameron is much more adventurous and bold than their canon self. Cameron’s story in the official show tells the tale of a boy who literally and metaphorically gets out of his bubble and learns more about the outside world and how to accept and live in it. This Cameron instead is FAR from sheltered though still retains the Og’s curious, analytical, and socially inept nature. Also, instead of being a nerd, they’re more of a geek!

EDITORIAL: "Mitigating the Disaster: A Storm Within"

Issue #08 by Jay Marc Nojada

In the lead-up to Typhoon Paeng, the Philippine government scrambled to prepare its citizens and emergency response teams for the worst. However, as it turned out, that wasn’t enough. Paeng wreaked havoc on parts of the country, nonetheless triggering landslides and flash floods in some areas. For a country no stranger to tropical storms, the question is why the government was unprepared to battle the storm.

Every year, between 18 and 20 typhoons land and cause havoc in the country. You would think we would have learned the drill by now. The preparations on the ground would have been directed by foresight derived from repeated experience, allowing us to survive each assault with the fewest casualties and damage to crops and property. However, Severe Tropical Storm "Paeng" demonstrated otherwise, leaving at least 150 dead, 36 missing, at least P2.74 billion worth of crops destroyed, and hundreds of thousands impacted across 64 provinces.

Lack of Preparation

The first issue that prevented the Philippines from preparing for Typhoon Paeng was the lack of preparation that was put into place by the government. The Philippines’ typhoon season runs from July to October, and the government must take the necessary precautions during this period. However, they failed to do so. There were no mandatory typhoon advisories in place, meaning that while people were encouraged to be aware of potential hazards, there was no legal obligation.

During the lead-up to Typhoon Paeng, the government claimed that it monitored the situation closely and was prepared to respond to potential threats. However, we found this to be untrue when the storm hit. There were not enough shelters for those at risk from flooding or landslides and equipment to clear debris following the storm. This all points towards a lack of preparation by the government, which makes it even more baffling that they weren’t better prepared for this storm.

Pointing Fingers

There were contributing circumstances behind Paeng's devastating impact, with disaster officials citing "a tragic combination of continuous rains from the approaching tropical storm, deforestation, and silted rivers" for the floods and landslides that inundated many parts of the country. Local officials also deflected blame, stating that the government did not warn them early enough, that the information provided was insufficient, that the typhoon veered and changed course, and that their area was rarely impacted by Concerning the loss of life. They claimed many families remained in their homes for fear of losing their meager possessions. Moreover, the refugees had no safe refuge, as entire barangays were flooded.

Not that we haven't heard all of these after similarly violent typhoons in the past. Paeng's unacceptably high death toll and level of destruction have demonstrated, if anything, how previous advice from catastrophic occurrences has been chiefly disregarded, only to be resurrected in the aftermath of another catastrophe.

Mitigating the Disaster

Another clear thing from the situation in the Philippines is that more preparation is needed. The government needs to better educate the public about the dangers of typhoons and hurricanes, and they need to take the necessary precautions during the typhoon season. This is particularly important in areas that are prone to landslides or flooding. The public also needs to be more aware of the risks they face; people must be mindful that they must take precautions during the typhoon season. Aid agencies also need to do more to be prepared for natural disasters. They must follow accurate weather reports and respond to potential threats more quickly. They must also allocate more funding for natural disaster assistance or preparedness initiatives. Ultimately, the Philippines failed to prepare for Typhoon Paeng, and many people suffered. A better approach to natural disaster prevention and assistance would have made a big difference, and maybe the government should look at themselves instead of pointing fingers.

Final Words

The Philippines has a tropical climate and is a common target for storms. The country is particularly vulnerable to typhoons, and in the lead-up to Typhoon Paeng, the government scrambled to prepare its citizens and emergency response teams for the worst. However, as it turned out, that wasn’t enough. Paeng wreaked havoc on parts of the country, triggering landslides and flash floods in some areas. The slow response from aid agencies and the lack of preparation by the government contributed to this situation. More preparation is needed, as although we are a common target for disasters, we should not be taking it for granted as we are now.

We will continually reconstruct after a disaster if we do not establish our priorities. We should not wait for another Paeng to rectify the situation. Too many lives have been lost along this path, with too few lessons learned.

response to your trax tags under that one post: as someone who used to be a fan of them, im pretty sure only rose and sometimes attack (i called him jungwoo though) were called by their stage names, the other two (xmas & typhoon) were called by their real names (jay & jungmo) (though theyd sometimes call xmas chris! short for christmas.....). so yeah. everyone was fully aware of how cringy their names were and im pretty sure the guys themselves didnt even want them
