Hero With a Thousand Faces

Hey y’all! Remember that post with the Tyannosaurus and its Pop Culture legacy? And how I did it with two more prehistoric creatures (and Sid)? Welp... here’s the latest version, and by far, the biggest of ‘em all.

The motif here is actually simple, from the drawings of a Paleolithic couple (the man’s a Neanderthal, and the lady’s a regular ol’ Homo Sapiens), they, without realizing it, inspired literal thousands upon thousands of years of storytelling, and of the many, MANY concepts of the “hero” figure throughout all of human history.

the show is a send-up of prehistoric-themed pulp fiction and voyage fantasy

It’s an imagined past that tosses together literally whatever looks coolest, much like the Hyborean Age in Conan, the prehistoric wasteland of One Million Years BC, whatever the fuck is going on in Fire and Ice, or any of number of Lost-Age, heroic fantasy, or Lost World stories.

What sets Primal apart (besides the storytelling, emotion, art, etc.) from previous works is that it generally uses modern understandings of prehistoric animals instead of just gluing cardboard to a petshop iguana and calling it a tyannosaurus, and has empathy for people that aren’t just white humans in fur undies.

•Favorite thing about them

-his whole aesthetic and how developed a bit throughout the season was enjoyable to me. I especially loved the fashion for him( but everyone on that team dressed nicely)

•Least favorite thing about them

-the typical rude jock thing in the beginning was a bit eh for me but it didn't get in the way really, in the beginning though Conner did have somewhat of an annoying side but it grew on me eventually

-"As if Japan would know anything about power rangers."

-Conner/Hayley. I felt like Hayley was the mom of the group and she just vibes with everyone

-Conner/Trent and Conner/Dustin, I like me some rare pairings and these two are really stuck in my head now(also Dustin form ninja stomr and Conner together is like asking for a chaotic headache. But it would be some lovable.)

-Conner can't drive cause it's a fear of his and during his attempt at a test he backed over an old lady. She was fine but still😭

After "Lost in Translation" he decided to watched super sentai as in this headcanon they are based on the power rangers. Conner is currently on Dekaranger( A wormhole opened and he ended up finding a universe where Abaranger exists and went ballistic)

He's also bi but still trying to figure things out.(where are my Conner/Trent allies ?l

-why did he need a tyannosaurus. Well back then DT was the second dino season so that's fine but I kinda want a red ranger without a tyrannosaurus, maybe give him a raptor or spinosaurus.
