Probably better off a personal post, but I figured you'd get a kick out of this:

I want to believe the Founding Families of TVD's past have some intricate stories since they leave behind mysteries that we only see solved in in the 21st century. And I like to make some hidden history:

In TVD 3x17, we learn that Meredith Fell had Samantha Gilbert's journal via her grandmother. Typically we assume they (Founding Families) just took her belongings after her death or at least the Gilbert Family would've. But instead, it was a Fell (whom I called "Marjorie Ann Fell") who had it - or rather, she inherited the diary from her mother ("Margaret Ruth Fell"), Meredith's great-grandmother.

Here's what I think happened: Samantha and Margaret were in love in 1912. Samantha worked as a bookkeeper and Margaret worked as a nurse at an asylum - though her family didn't initially approve. While she worked in the daytime, Samantha was an avid vampire hunter at night and used her family heirloom, The Gilbert Ring, to come back to life. However, when the ring took a toll on her psyche after reviving many times - creating an alter ego and killing members of the council - Samantha kept a diary of her spiral & worried she'd hurt the woman she loved. Her nightmare eventually came to head 10 years later in 1922 when she nearly killed Margaret. Full of remorse, she told her about what she was going through, which helped piece together that she was the killer. Margaret convinced Samantha to reveal the truth about the ring to the council, which was how she ended up in the asylum Margaret worked at and even got assigned as her nurse. Samantha struggled from the negative side effects of the ring with Margaret by her side until one day it became too much. She has a breakdown and cried in tears, professing her love and making her promise to keep her diary safe should anything happen to her. Tearfully understanding Samantha was at her limits, she professed her love back and took her diary. That night, Samantha took the knitting needles used during the day and killed herself via forced lobotomy and died of blood loss. Margaret, as her nurse, was questioned but ultimately quit due to losing the love of her life at 36. Another 10 years later in 1932, she had her daughter, Marjorie Ann (Meredith's grandmother) at 46. She died in the 1960 and left Samantha's diary to her in hopes that if the Gilbert Rings - that was given to Samantha's next of kin despite her disapproval - ever caused the same problems that cost Samantha her life, a Fell would ensure it got to the right person to prevent it from happening again...

As it did in 2010 with Alaric Saltzman.

Now, wouldn't this romance be in Samantha's diary? I would think that, but in typical forbidden romance fashion, I believe Margaret tore out any pages implying their love. Perhaps there would be a time when people like her and Samantha would be accepted, but in the time period they lived, the risk of anyone knowing was too great.

(Heads up, in Legacies S1, the Necromancer summoned a witch to get him the knife he needed. I dated her outfit - she was very likely from the 1910s and I wouldn't be surprised if she manipulated Samantha to kill Zachariah Salvatore. He was probably related to or covered up her death and used Samantha as revenge. Yeah, that's what I'm going with!)

So, what do you think?

Honestly I don't have super strong opinions on this, but I like the idea of Meredith's grandmother being in love with a Gilbert. The way you describe their story is so compelling and giving star crossed lovers. Reminds me of Stelena. I love a good forbidden romance.

what are some guilty pleasures?

quiet. it's rare that everything around him is quiet so he usually enjoys it while it lasts. he knows that sounds boring to others but a peaceful minute is really a great thing. he's also no coffee drinker but enjoys a good cup of tea instead which is also rare for a vampire. he's quite extra when it comes to his tea (he's extra in general but that also goes for tea). it should have the ideal temperature and not exceed the recommended brewing time. he also doesn't like sugar in his tea.

are there any scents or tastes he personally doesn't like or even finds disgusting?

dried up, old sweat. please shower or take a bath. anything that smells rancid. the smell of vomit. reasons why he would never set foot inside certain places.

does he prefer wardrobe items from a particular designer(s)

first of all, elijah has his personal tailor which means that his suits and shirts are customized although they are mostly bought from designers and not entirely self-created. elijah enjoys armani, burberry, john varvatos, and hugo boss (mind you, those are the 'cheapter' labels). he has things (mostly suits and fitting accessory) from kiton, zegna, ralph lauren, and brioni. he does have a preference for certain things. t-shirts, for example, are mostly from john varvatos.

what was the first (more modern-day-ish) car he owned once there was more variety of manufacturers and looks

for a long time, elijah didn't own any cars himself because they were simply too slow for his taste. he did, however, develop a liking for german and british cars. his first car was a bmw 319 sport cabriolet in blue hues. it depends on whether you already see this as a modern-day-ish car. up to this day elijah has a preference for german or british (sport) cars. his collection includes a mercedes-benz class c (as seen in tvd s4), a porsche panamera turbo s (as seen in to 3x17), a jaguar f-type (to s5), and a bentley continental gt (to s5).

What do you think of the Stelena scene at the end of 3x18? I think it's so underrated. It was such a relief of unspoken words and Stefan finally opening up. I know it ends sadly but my goodness, I FEEL it

I’m quite curious which SE scenes anons don’t think are underrated. Personally, I don’t think the scene itself is underrated because it’s a pivotal moment for Stefan and Elena where they’re confirming their love for each other as a fact (and I think SErs recognize that), which is something I have always loved about SE, despite the fandom idea that Elena was wishy-washy and that Stefan felt insecure in their relationship because she was torn, their love for each other was actually treated like an irrefutable fact

and 3x18 confirms that yet again

It’s basically a how could I possibly stop loving you even when he says that she’s in love with Damon, she panics

and what’s also telling is that even though this season is about whether or not Stefan will lose Elena, when Stefan confirms that she hasn’t lost him, she’s relieved

and like you said, it’s a cathartic moment that’s been building for a long time and that the show has been inching toward since Stefan came back to town because essentially every few episodes, they’re working their way up to this moment.

In 3x11, they have their out but they don’t get too far because there’s just too much pain there:

In 3x14, they get a little further because Stefan’s vulnerability is breaking through and she reaches him and he almost let’s her but then he leaves

In 3x17, he finally tells her that it’s not that he doesn’t want her in his life, it’s that he can’t be who she wants and he’s distancing himself, so we’re getting even closer

And then we have this where he’s finally just saying the rest of what he didn’t say all those times before:

and it’s not a “this is it” conversation, it’s not a breakup, it’s a things are different, things are complicated but one thing that’s always stayed the same is that we love each other.

What I do find underrated about 3x18 is the ending because yeah, it ends with her saying she doesn’t know how she feels about Damon but the nonverbal reactions to each other:

An underrated aspect of SE I find is how much Elena needs to know what Stefan is thinking and feeling, she needs to know that they’re OK, she needs to know that she hasn’t lost him to the point that it’s compulsive, which is why she can’t handle him not knowing who she is when he has amnesia, which is why when she has no humanity and she tells off Rebekah she says that Rebekah ruined her relationship with Stefan as an indicator as to why Rebekah’s a bad person, which is why her brain essentially short circuits when he tells her he’s not in love with her anymore --- and we’re seeing this here through her reaction, she’s not just sorry that she’s hurt him, she’s silently pleading for an indication that despite this they’re OK (which is how she responds when she tells him she kissed Damon in 3x12)

because the way she responds to other men who she hurts isn’t the same

like she moves with him and watches him leave, hoping he’ll say something

and when he’s gone, she’s trembling

when she and Damon have a confrontation about her feelings in 3x19 and he leaves, she doesn’t actually look shaken, she looks annoyed and vaguely ashamed

but the fact that they may not be OK doesn’t have the same emotional toll on her like in 3x18 and if they really wanted the PASSION-RAGE-UGH-I-CAN’T-STAND-IT her reaction to this confrontation should’ve been this

but that’s a different post.

So yeah, those are my thoughts on 3x18

i know you don’t like stefan and damon, but it’s obvious that for the show, elena has to chose one brother. and stefan simply is the better choice, so that’s why caroline said stefan is elena’s epic love in 3x20. in 3x18 stefan gave stakes to elena, matt and caroline to kill the originals. in the end elena saved stefan’s life by killing finn with matt. they were all in a good place. in 3x17 stefan saved elena’s life and meredith’s life.

but it’s really not though, even up to season 6 the show was still toying with the idea of having Elena not end up with anyone. And the nature of a love triangle and the parameters of it in the shows storyline, in no way rid either Damon or Stefan of responsibility from the position they put Elena in and the things they did to her.

And i’ve talked before about how Stefan is technically a ‘better man’ than Damon. My soul reason for that being he never r*ped anyone on screen. However he is equally toxic to Elena because he will constantly and does repeatedly place his ideals and his angst over Elena’s comfort, and in season 4 especially, her life. Now, pls do not reply to this about how he ‘respects her choices’ bc that is a completely different thing and while he may give her more room than Damon, he only allows her these choices in controlled environments or when he doesn’t actually know about them.

You’re argument could easily be used by a Delena shipper because it essentially boils down too Elena has to pick someone, X sins will have to be forgiven to do that and therefore do not matter.

Caroline encouraging Stelena never has anything to do with their relationship itself. Be it her trauma from Damon, her crush on Stefan or her and Elena’s complicated dynamic (or the fact that tvd was using her as the stelena audience insert). It does not negate that Caroline- throughout the whole show- shows more care for stefan’s feelings than Elena. I still like Care, and she’s still, for the most part, a good friend. But a bias one.

Basically, think what you want. I can promise sending Stelena anons will not change my mind. Thanks for the ask

So I watched TVD during quarantine last year, and even though I swore to never watch another Julie Plec show again, I’m watching TO! I thought I’d share my thoughts, let people read my clueless predictions or my feelings about Klamille. You can find my reviews of S1-3 on my blog.

How did Lucien make a deal with the ancestors???

Freya’s scream was so classic horror movie

Honestly the Mikaelsons deserve the other characters’ anger but they’re not known for being good people, so this is not necessarily anything astounding or surprising

They’re already painting Marcel as a villain…it’s warranted but I hate that HE has to be the villain out of everyone
