it honestly makes me sick how people can act like they care about world issues but turn a blind eye to ACTUAL world issues as soon as it isnt in the west. people in syria and turkey are digging their loves ones out of debris still and ive heard THREE people talk about it. THREE. families have been wrapping their deceased loved ones in TRASH BAGS because there have been so many deaths (around 16k if you must know) that there arent enough burial shrouds. this is a HORRIBLE disaster yet nobody is talking about it. where are all the “woke” girlies now? and you all know DAMN well if a natural disater this size happened in europe (yes ik turkey is europe technically before you all hunt me down) or america EVERYONE would be ralking about it, people would have “help america 🇺🇸🥺” pfps and everything. but nobody cares about the middle east. you all would rather forget any of this is going on than do something about it because you’re too self absorbed and ignorant to help people even when if doesnt effect you or benefit you. if you were REALLY an “activist”, you would care about the middle east.

I just feel like nobody is talking enough about the Turkey-Syria earthquake catastrophe or is empathetic enough about it. Celebrities or the rich, would’ve flooded their social media and donated if it were the west, such as they did for the Ukrainians, and around $1 billion was raised within 2 days only for the Notre-Dame cathedral, an empty building with no casualties. But why turn a blind eye to the sufferings of thousands of these innocent souls in Turkey and Syria? If they survived the earthquake, they’ll now suffer from the cold and hunger with nowhere to go.

Why don't y'all do something like Eruri stuff for Ukraine for Syria/Turkey as well?
I can’t speak for the fandom Anon, and I’m sure you know that. Given how active the Eruri fandom is though, it wouldn’t surprise me if someone organises something. If you’re keen to get involved just say the word.  I’ve already seen some artists on twitter doing art giveaways in return for donations, and I know other fans have made individual donations to aid agencies.  I donated to Médecins Sans Frontières because they’re one of the few international aid agencies, along with the White Helmets, who already have people on the ground in Syria.  Here are some more agencies folk might want to consider donating to.

Hello everyone. The death toll from the Turkey-Syria earth quake has surpassed 50,000. The situation is only going to worsen as the numbers are speculated to increase. The poverty and trauma that's going to follow will continue to ravage both the nations. Please consider donating or sharing the links around. There has been great help offered by many countries but it's just not enough. Please keep Turkey and Syria in your thoughts.
I'm going to drop some reliable links for y'all to donate if possible, or share; remember, as much as €5 can itself make a huge difference

Buried under the rubble for 6 days and when found she refuses to be pulled out and asks for a Hijab first!
A 12 year old child pulled out after days and his first words" Assalamualaikum!!
An elderly man half buried and he keeps asking for water not to drink but rather to make Wudu so he can pray properly!
They remove piles of dirt of his face after days and days and there he is reciting Quran melodiously!
Ya Allah! What is this conviction?!😭😭

alt: screenshot of a cnn headline accompanied with the image of a brown beared man in a yellow vest looking down at the camera from inside a room. on the wall behind him are various pictures of white helmets efforts. the picture is captioned "Ismail Alabdullah (CNN)". the the article title reads: "White Helmets' capabilities are "not enough" to handle the large scale devastation in Syria, volunteer says
From CNN's Aditi Sangal"
excerpt:
A White Helmets volunteer working through the devastation in Syria says the organization does not have enough to handle this disaster.
"Our teams are working around the clock to help to save the injured people. But our capabilities, our powers are not enough to handle this disaster. This disaster is bigger than any organization in northwest Syria," Ismail Alabdullah told CNN. "This disaster needs international efforts to handle."
The winter is making the situation worse for people who already suffer under the lack of basic necessities, Alabdullah said.
"Most of them were displaced from other parts of Syria during the last 12 years of bombing and killing," he said, adding that any help they receive will be spent on saving people "from under the rubble."
Many Syrians have been displaced as many as 20 times, according to International Rescue Committee's Mark Kaye, who spoke to CNN earlier Monday.
Before daylight, Alabdullah said the team on ground thought it could handle the impact, which it assumed would be limited to a few sites. However, when daylight revealed the large scale of devastation, he said, "we were shocked."

The Death Toll of the Earthquake that hit Turkey and Syria may have reached 20,000 people, and that’s outside of all those who are injured and lost.
If you could donate PLEASE do!!!
Here’s a post full of charities you could donate to, but I’ll add my own trustworthy ones here:
Islamic Relief:  teams are on the ground right now providing emergency food assistance, shelter, medical supplies to hospitals and clinics, as well as blankets and tents for those made homeless by the quake in Turkey and Syria
Molham: The team at Molham are currently on the ground helping displaced families in Turkey and Syria who have been affected by the earthquake
The White Helmets: The team are on the ground in Northwest Syria searching for survivors and removing the dead from the rubble.
MSF: remaining in close contact with the local authorities in northwestern Syria and with the authorities in Turkey to extend their support where it’s needed. They’re providing essential life kits to displaced people in the region
please PLEASE reblog. Syria and Turkiye need our help!!!

Earthquake in Turkey and Syria: thousands of losses.
The tragedy caused by the earthquake that occurred on the sixth of February in Turkey and Syria at the beginning of this month is increasing. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management Authority stated that this earthquake is the largest in the Anatolia region in two thousand years. The earth’s crust moved by 7.3 meters after shaking for two minutes during the earthquake at a depth between 8.5 and 10 km below the earth’s surface.
  Recent Statistics
The latest statistics indicate that the death toll in the earthquake that occurred in southern Turkey and northern Syria exceeded 41 thousand people, and rescue teams in the two countries continue to search for more survivors, with diminishing hope of finding survivors after 11 days of the earthquake. The death toll is advancing hour by hour, with many bodies being pulled from under the rubble.
Turkish statistics for the dead exceeded 35,000, while in Syria, the number reached nearly 6,000 dead and 7,386 wounded.
Those who survived also face the problem of losing their home. The Turkish Minister of Interior stated that the earthquake had damaged 50% of the buildings in Hatay, and that they would remove 50% of the buildings in Antakya as they were no longer habitable.
Children affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria
According to a United Nations report that shows the extent of damage among children in the earthquake zones, the report revealed that 7 million children were affected by the devastating earthquake that occurred in southern Turkey and northern Syria, and according to a spokesman for the United Nations Children’s Fund, the number of children in the ten Turkish states that were affected by As a result of the earthquake, 4.5 million children died. In addition to the 2.5 million Syrian children present in the affected areas.
