hey guys is it possible to get older custom tumblr themes to work with the dashboard unfucker tampermonkey script?? bc i have it installed and i got the stylus extension and looked at what they have thinking i could use all these pretty backgrounds but they all end up never being seen because ive found they are behind the blue of the dashboard. the only one that really works is the "old tumblr blue" one but besides that nothing. is there anything that i can do with, i dunno, html??? if anyone knows please tell me i just want a pretty background of the stars while i browse this site on my laptop 😭

here’s your daily reminder to go to w3schools and learn some HTML and CSS to make yourself a little neocities page and free yourself from the confinements of social media platforms

#soda offers you a can #at least make a custom blog theme for yourself #admittedly i feel like tumblr is not nearly as bad as places like twitter and facebook #but it's not flawless #and there's been a lot of push to bring people's blogs to the dashboard #instead of visiting them in a separate tab that showcases their themes and pages #which turns things more towards this homogeneous social media experience i for one despise #anyway im working on a webpage atm and it's going well :)#im hoping to upload it all soon enough but also i've been busy with school so it might take a bit...

You know how Tumblr's "undocked" video player makes the right of your screen very crowded AND forces you to minimize any open chats before you can properly interact with it?

I've been working on a userstyle that:

Removes bloat from the sidebar

Centers your dashboard

Moves your chats to the left and reorganizes chat bubbles to fit more chats onscreen (requires centered dash)

Lets you choose exactly what to remove and customize your user experience to your preference!

i dont have an issue tagging goncharov posts w unreality if someone asks, but telling ppl to do so bc it could be triggering for some theoretical psychotic person out there kinda reminds me of that period of time when everyone on tumblr arbitrarily decided that words like ”stupid” and ”insane” are ableist slurs and ppl were genuinely calling each other out for ”using the s-slur” etc

#ppl who are super sensitive to unreality themed memes etc probably are cultivating their own dashboard accordingly #and unpopular onion: i dont think Accommodating Everyone who looks at ur blog is a necessary mindset #some ppl never tag stuff and they never want to even if u ask and thats not problematic even if its annoying to u #all u can do is unfollow if ur unsatisfied and thats ur responsibility #in the context of tumblr specifically it shouldnt be everyone elses responsibility to make their blog accessible to u if they dont want to #its just part of coexisting w all varieties of ppl. not everyone is willing to make space for everyone at any moment #sometimes the only thing u can do is walk away #these tags arent rly related to the goncharov thing And im absolutely not addressing disability friendly infastructure #or anything outside of tumblr #im just voicing some thots i guess 🤷#personally im fine w tagging common triggers and such #but i wouldnt want to tag everything i reblog. some ppl do and those who need that sort of thing can follow them instead #i would def tag goncharov is a mutuals asked but if someone legit couldnt handle seeing those posts #id feel uncomfortable being responsible for their mental health to that extent and would prefer to just be unfollowed instead

(ps: i feel kinda weird sending an ask to someone who already answered one. like i have one ask token per person, and am only allowed to use it once)

Basically I looked on the “advanced settings” on my tumblr dashboard editor, where you can literally edit the code of the website, then copied and pasted code for a button and changed around a few variables to make it big and red - however, it can’t be clicked??? Which is weird, because when I’m editing the code, it is clickable, and does what it’s supposed to (which is a secret (I couldn’t figure out how to make it do stuff)) but when I’m on the actual website it does nothing

Maybe one day I’ll get around to fixing it but I don’t know enough about [INSERT LANGUAGE TUMBLR USES HERE] to bugfix it

dashboard themes i made for myself in Palettes for Tumblr. to use them, install the addon for Firefox or Chrome, copy and paste the code into a text document, change the file extension to .json, and import it into the “Manage Palettes” menu. i would have uploaded the files directly but tumblr doesn’t allow that.

I was scrolling through the premade dashboard themes and got nostalgic for the time I went into Inspect Element and edited all the dashboard colors to make this. This was about 2019. Tumblr's since changed its layout a little bit and I can't do this nearly as easily anymore.

Please excuse the JPEG artifacts. I lost my original screencaps of these, and the only way I could find them again was saving pictures I posted on the site formerly known as Twitter.

It'd be nice if we could make our own dashboard themes.
