I'm just gonna... leave this theory here:
Jeremy hooked up with his step-brother at his first banquet and that what's "broke the family".
• We know the "scandal" that made their group chat name "The floozies" happened in first year.
• We know that his mom and his step-father don't tolerate actions that go against the norm for het man (like him dying his hair)
•Kevin told everyone in AFTG that is easier to be straight in sports, but it also applies to politics and Jeremy's family had the money to hash out the controversy before their reputation couldn't afford it (maybe it didn't even left the room).
•Jeremy told Jean to not call him Knox, surnames are something that you get from your father, but with enough money you could change them... as to match your 3 new children with your prestigious last name.
•Cat cuts herself when she mentions this brother, my theory goes on as that he was "banished" from the family (maybe because Jeremy's name was already out there and it would cause more controversy if he was the one dishenerited) or sent to camp like Nicky.
•Jeremy is one year ahead Jean and Kevin in school and that meant that they probably weren't at that banquet (maybe Tetsuji took Kevin but he was in his own head).
•Maybe his mom argued with his step-father for this, being it nearly cause of divorce. Maybe camp was discussed for Jeremy too, a suggestion of his step-father's father (that we know he doesn't like)
•It was the early 2000s, being gay was a big no, but having 2 gay sons... uff.
I probably had more points that I forgot to list here, but yeah. I think this step-brother that we don't know of is from another marriage of Jeremy's step-father so they are not related, and maybe he took off by himself refusing to be part of this bs.

Aside from a touch and affection-starved Jesse that I clearly like and I'm sure will enjoy, this situation feels precisely like what happened with Jordelia. COG and COI James had the gracelet, which inhibited his real feelings for Cordelia, and which made Cordelia very frustrated because she didn't know whether James was being truthful with her or not, until she run away to Paris. It seemed as if the gracelet would never break and Jordelia would never be able to declare their feelings, until it breaks. Whenever Jordelia made out, surprisingly, they weakened the power of the gracelet until the gracelet broke down for good. It didn't break because of magic. It broke because of the power of love and passion and desire that James and Cordelia felt for each other. True love broke an enchantment of fake love. I believe that Blackdale are in a same situation. Lucie's love for Jesse kept him more here than there and helped him back into this world. Her love saved his soul, in a way, but in return, she had to give something back. From the snippets released so far, we know that Lucie and Jesse can't touch but they seem to want to try to kiss and make out anyway. And it seems as if it might be working. I think perhaps Lucie was bound by an enchantment like the one in the gracelet, just in reverse. James was manipulated into thinking he liked somebody else and to give the person he loved mixed signals, which made her (Cordelia), decide to run away to cure her broken heart. Lucie, on the contrary, is even more in love with Jesse after brining him back (and so is he), but they can't actively live that love because they can't do the physical/touching part of love. So they might break this curse (because that's what it is) by daring to get physical (as in, to make out et similar). Just like Jordelia did. In return, Jordelia will instead have to work on the building trust and declaring their feelings part, so the not physical part of love, which Blackdale already started building in COI.

Common theme with Kit’s powers
Do I know what the common theme is with Kit's powers? No, I do not. Am I going to ramble for the entire post anyway? Yes, I will.
(And CC took down what she said and substitute it with an Ash answer. Why?)
This is a theory, but mostly I just recollected as much information as I could and hope someone finds this useful, so it’s LONG
(My first post about Kit’s magic, pre-GOTSM)
1. What do we know about Kit’s magic:
Few of his ancestors have manifested it before, save Auraline
It might have been triggered with the talent rune (He felt it burn when he first used them)
It may be connected or triggered with his emotions
It manifests in white light
Kit felt it like cold fire in his veins, electric
The first time he used them it made him fall to his knees from the force
It also drained him and he was ill for a few days
And it’s growing
2. So far, Kit’s powers are:
Glowing net: It trapped the riders. He describes it as “surged through him, electric, exploding” and it came from his hands. And then…
Make the Rider’s horses vanish: When he closed his hands, the horses vanished, “winked out of existence between one breath and the other”. We don’t actually know what happened to them. Did they cease to exist? Moved to a pocket dimension? To another place in the world?
Channel magic: Magnus felt Kit humming when he got close to the circle and ask him to add his focus to the magic. Kit was actively channelling his magic without knowing. When Magnus broke the curse, the magic was still blue (Magnus’). I also find this curious, taking into account fey and warlock magic are said to be mutually exclusive.
3. Bonus:
Better Sight: We’ve seen this in two occasions, in LOS with Ty and Livvy, and in SOBH with the Blackthorn ring (My post comparing them).
Maybe the necromancy?: People have said before Kit might have had a role in the necromancy ritual without his knowledge. I’m not going to go into detail, but if you’re interested you can read this post.
The Peacemaker: Created by Cristopher Lightwood, it was meant to kill demons. Kit was able to shoot it, and the only other person who could was James, but his sister Lucie not, so we don’t actually know why some people can and some not. Tessa and Jem thought it may be because of his fey heritage (Not possible, it didn’t work for General Winter) or his First Heir blood.
Vibrating with power: Magnus said he had a feeling of power, humming in Kit, when he got close to the circle where he was doing magic, like when your body vibrates with a loud sound, but silence. And he probably isn’t aware. In my opinion, when a 400-years-old warlock tells you he hasn’t felt anything like that before, you’re in serious problems.
Given the fact his powers come from the Seelie Queen /Unseelie King, I thought it was worth investigating them.
4. The Seelie Queens abilities we know:
Glamours: She can make herself change her appearance to reflect people’s desires.
Telekinesis: In the Court scene, she throws Annabeth into a wall with a motion of her hand.
Strong physical strength: She was able to draw free from some redcaps who held her like they were nothing.
Inflict pain at touch: When she escaped from the redcaps, some of them fell screaming to the floor with their hands burned and blackened, their fingers snapped.
Teletransport: Sha vanished from the Unseelie Court with Adaon.
6. Unseelie King / Kieran:
Glamour: He made Emma believe a faerie was her father.
Projection: Arawan made himself appear to Kieran in LOS.
Make a portal to Thule: He created a portal to the dimension of Thule.
Make a portal to Faerie: After he was made Unseelie King, Kieran created a portal to Faerie to save the faeries in the battle in QOAAAD.
7. Auraline’s known powers
Expanding someone’s life: She used it in Roland, and it made him live longer than he should have.
Perfect loyalty: This is tricky, because it’s more like a spell on her and we know Kit didn’t inherit it.
(I have the theory that even if Kit can’t cast perfect loyalty, the remains of that magic make him immune to it and it will play a role in Kit and Ash’s relationship, because not only are they similar, but also Kit will be the only one immune to it. The extent of Auraline’s magic is unknown, after all it’s not only what she inherited form her parents, but also given to her from the spells and magic they used on her before and after she was born. It's still unknown what the connection is between the disfiguration in the face of Arawan, and Auraline. And there’s also the prophecy, but now it’s not important).
The codex says fey magic is chaotic, difficult to structure or has rules that can be learned. Malcom said in LM warlock magic and fey magic are like two different languages, so it probably wouldn’t work if Magnus tried to teach Kit. Demonic magic and fey magic are very different, but are believed to have the same origin.
I’m not sure if the theme CC was talking about is why his powers manifest or the nature of them, but here are my ideas:
A. Dimensional magic
What the Seelie Queen did (Teleporting herself inside of a dimension) is dimensional magic. And also, what the Unseelie King did with the portal to Thule (Or maybe Kieran with the portal in Faerie, as some believed Faerie is a different dimension).
Long ago, I theorised Kit had dimensional magic (Mention in the first post about Kit’s powers), and even if I don’t see it as a common theme in his powers, it’s the only real idea I have. But dimensional magic is technically demoniac, and fey magic is neither demoniac nor seraphically allied.
B. Wild magic
Can you imagine if what he has is wild magic and Auraline could lie? I really don’t believe it, but let’s explore this possibility.
Kit doesn’t seem affected by iron, salt, nor rowan wood, and has no problem with technology. He specifically says so in QOAAD after he discovers he has fey blood and he’s confused about it.
Can it be because his blood is diluted? Yes. I think so? No. Maybe it’s just another thing that he’s different about.
People talk about how much fey blood he has talking with percentage, but if we used this same idea with his shadowhunter blood is much worse. He would be maybe 1/34 shadowhunter, and he definitely doesn’t have any problem with runes or any other shadowhunter thing. Some blood is just predominant, more difficult to get diluted.
But getting back to the wild magic, the users we know are the Wild Hunt and the Riders. The members of the Wild Hunt are immune to typical faerie weaknesses, such as salt, grave dirt, and cold iron, and the Riders could lie because of it. When Emma killed Fal in LOS, she describes it to Kieran as “have you ever held ice so long in your hand that the coldness hurt your skin” and Kit described his magic as cold fire.
We don’t have a lot of knowledge about it, apart from being older even than the shadowhunters.
C. Common trigger: Emotions
All the moments he used magic were very emotional for him. The Riders are about to kill him / discovering about his mother’s fate and the aftermath of the reunion with Ty. But to be fair, when doesn’t he now? That boy needs a vacation.
There are various people who have talked about it more extensively.
 CONCLUSION
These are all the possibilities I could think about after deeply studying QOAAD, SOBH and the Codex. It’s probably going to be something very obvious and I’ll feel very silly afterwards, but at least with the Mina situation, I’m sure we’re going to learn more. Until then, this is all I have.
I’m probably going to end up having a Wall of Crazy like Emma :)
Feel free to add more or correct me!

Working chain of thorns theories:
1.) Matthew will die, get his ruins stripped (honestly what good has being a shadowhunter ever truly brought him, besides the herondales and daisy, but pain), or become a vampire. (Cassie said one or more could have this end.)
2.) Charles will die.
3.) Lucie will get her ruins stripped. (This could be one of the reasons the Blackthorns great aunt is so bitter. Someone may have treated her or her family as lesser than because of their bloodline and status as outcasts because of her parents.)
4.) Eugenia will (also) be turned into a vampire. This would be amazing as we could follow her point of view for a book or so as I feel she has a lot more story to tell.
5.) If Charles and Matthew are both unable to carry on the family line the last maybe Charlotte and Henry do have other children (twin girls). One of whom follows in Charlotte's foot prints and that is how tha family name is carried on.
6.) Cordelia's mom will die in child birth. Alastair will raise the child (a girl who may also take the same path as Charlotte did and that is how the family name will be carried on).
7.) Alexander Lightwood will be the husband of one of these amazing girls. (This is a fun theory just for me lol.) Though it would also help to reinforce that all shadowhunters are related if you trail far enough up the line.
8.) If Matthew does survive and continues to be a shadowhunter (which I find very unlikely) he will continue the family name with Esme Philpott (James' friend from the academy that was a mundane who assended and is obsessed with the family tree's).
Please let me know what you think of my theories and respond with your own!

For the most recent episode- a thought (cursed crack theory) popped into my head when Jules was mentioning the Egyptians and what they buried in their coffins for rebirth: What if it really is Jesse's funeral and he actually is dead... but for real this time?
We all know that necromancy needs a life for a life, and there's a balance that needs to be righted, or else it will blight the life of the person who did the spell. What if Jesse decides by the end of Chain of Thorns there is no other way to help Lucie but to return to the grave? (Cassie did say that a person we care for will die?) Jesse was never really supposed to live again- it would make sense that he realises it's the only way to restore balance and makes the sacrifice.
And follow it- we all think Lucie and Jesse are supposed to the ones to continue one section of the Blackthorn line and maybe they do but what if... the adopted baby teased by Cassie is actually Lucie and Jesse's? (not really loving a teen pregnancy storyline but anyway-) Who would step up and help Lucie with the baby?
Just a quick cursed thought that ran through my mind when I was listening and so I had to share.
😘 😘 😘
Gillian!!
AH! Okay. First of all. I definitely had the same thought about this potentially being Jesse's legit tomb/evidence of his funeral. I can't remember now why I dismissed it, but it is such an interesting concept, and looking at it now, I honestly wouldn't even consider it a crack theory?
Like Bry brought up in the episode, there's a possibility that the items in the coffin are all relics from a lost battle. And it would make sense for them to put the items in Jesse's coffin as a way to honor him, his memory, his sacrifice as it may be. It would also make sense for Jesse's body not to be in the coffin if (a) he was able to have the funeral rites of a regular member of the clave and the Merry Thieves et al. just wanted to have their own special funeral for him, (b) he sacrificed himself in a different realm/dimension, or (c) if his body burned up somehow to show the significance and the finality of a payment for necromancy, so to say--especially since this kid's poor body's been through so much, and with all the spells placed on it and the history of possession it's really become an entity in itself.
It's interesting that you say we all think the Blackthorn line we love will come from Lucie and Jesse.. because I think Bry and I have pretty much come to the conclusion that it won't. A few of the reasons (the latter two here are directly from Bry) we think that are:
The mere fact that there is another line, despite us not having met them, and the fact that they have been brought up more than once. There wouldn't be much point in separating the family into the Cornwall line and the Leeds line if that wasn't going to be significant in some way.
Annabel, who comes from the Cornwall line, is very much likened to our modern Blackthorns, which is also indicative of how Malcolm picked our Blackthorns to cozy up to.
Tessa likely would have cared more about our Blackthorns if they did come from Lucie. Like how she eventually reaches out to Jace to show him around Herondale Manor etc.
I gotta admit, it would be a crazy twist if Lucie did get pregnant, but I think that within the timeline we're confined to and knowing Cassie, it doesn't seem very likely. The tease about the adopted baby, at least where it's linked on the wiki, dates back to 2015, and it is very tease-esque--like a could be real, could be complete bs kind of thing--so I'm not sure how much weight we should let that have. Though I do think I've seen people tossing around the theory that it will be Sona's baby that will need to be adopted 👀
All that to say, if our Blackthorns did come from Lucie/Jesse, and if Lucie does get pregnant and bad things happen while they're in Cornwall, it would make sense that they would go to the resource that's closest to them, which would be Jesse's distant relatives. So maybe if Cassie's teaser rings true and if it's a Ghostwriter baby, it can still end up being raised in Cornwall, where eventually Andrew Blackthorn would be raised. It would certainly tie the pieces together.
That being said, there's a little worm in my brain telling me that Lucie would try and raise the kiddo by herself and eventually a healed Matthew would find himself helping out with the child because I'm nothing if not a vehicle for Fairondale brainrot smh
Thank you so much for sharing this!! Honestly I think it would explain so much, and answer a lot of questions/problems. (Though, I am also not loving the idea of a teen pregnancy storyline..)
I'm curious if anyone else has any thoughts on this!
Jules ♡

am watching the sandman rn cause @chibi-tsukiko 's art convinced me to and the sand guy mentioned that lucifer used to be the angel samael and now im just thinking OHHHHH and using it in my tsc theories and desperately need to know ur thoughts
Sand guy 💀 (no offense but I think he's called dream?)((Okay I just realised you might have said that for MY benefit nvm thanks!! but I'm surprisingly good at picking up names via tumblr osmosis lol))
OHH DAMN 👀 Okay hmmm I didn't realise the fallen Angels would have angel names from before their falling, so this is definitely interesting. Do we know an Angel samael in tsc? 🧐
From what lil research I did, Angel Samael seems to be the same as Sammael - serpent that chased Adam and Eve out, lover of Lilith, etc. But I doubt that in the tsc universe, Angel Samael and Sammael would be the same person, cause angel samael goes on to become Lucifer.
Anyways this is reminding me of the fact that we're getting lucifer in tbvotd/twp and now I'm scared :)

I've been thinking about this theory about Riko orchestrating Jean's sexual abuse as punishment for his attraction to Kevin, because Riko is not in the habit of sharing his possessions. And while at first glance it would seem that Riko does this because it's Kevin... looking deeper I get the feeling that his attitude extends to the rest of the Perfect Court too.
Consider Andrew.
Riko sets first Drake and then Proust on Andrew, and the implication is that Andrew cannot get away with "taking Riko's things." This obviously refers to Kevin, but I don't think it refers to Kevin alone. It's significant that Riko brings it up with Neil and Neil only, and it happens during this specific conversation.
Tumblr media
Riko uses Andrew to taunt and intimidate Neil, immediately after Neil implies that Riko is not the only thing saving him from his father. We come to understand several things in the course of this conversation:
That Riko considers Andrew to be responsible for Neil's continued refusal to return to his place among the Ravens.
That he believes threatening Andrew's safety will be enough to convince Neil to come to Evermore.
Which means that Riko obviously has an inkling of what Andrew and Neil mean to each other (even if Neil does not yet). He weaponizes this knowledge against both of them, and while Neil ends up going to Evermore, it does not mean that Riko lets Andrew get away.
That's because he never intended to. When Riko refers to Andrew as the miniature one with the disgusting attitude who thinks he can take my things, his "things" refer not merely to Kevin but, to a heavy extent, also to Neil, and he punishes Andrew for his closeness to Neil the same way he punished Jean's closeness to Kevin.
Why am I bringing this up? Well, quite simply put, it's all because of the as-yet unexplained January incident that Jean brings up in The Sunshine Court.
We know that following Neil's departure from the Nest, Zane betrayed Jean by setting Grayson on him. What we don't know is what Riko did to Zane and Grayson afterwards, or why.
Tumblr media
Jean brings it up several times, but only refers to it obliquely, and doesn't give us any details:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I don't think Riko cares about what happened to Jean, of course not. But it makes too much sense to me that he decided what Zane and Grayson did was an insult to him, Riko, because how dare they touch his property when he hasn't permitted it? How dare they take his things? How dare Grayson pretend he has some sort of claim to Jean?
I'm throwing this theory out because I have nothing to lose: whatever Riko did to Zane and Grayson was in retaliation to what they did to Jean, but not because Riko cares. He did so only because Jean was another one of Riko's things, and those who take his things away must be reminded of their place.
So, yes, I think all of this is an extension of the fact that Riko has an unhealthy obsession with the people he considers to be his pets or his property. Transgressions against his claim over them deserve to be punished for the insult.
Even if those transgressions are committed by the Perfect Court itself. Riko plays the part of the jealously possessive master, the one they should all devote themselves to, the only one with authority over them. No one else can have them — which means they cannot have each other either.

The press wanting to talk to Jean after he changes teams and he having a flashback and his blood sugar lowers, he starts to sweat, eyes wide, smile too tense and too white for his own good. Only the raquet to connect him with reality.
And then Jeremy steps up and does something to distract the reporters from the other side of the court so Jean could breath again.

Chain of Gold, Ch. 3 - Cordelia taking care of James while he has a fever and brings him back from the shadow realm. Don't forget that when James travelled to the shadow realm where Belial was, Cordelia was his anchor and was able to bring him back to the surface. Perhaps it was their love for each other, even if they didn't know about their feelings for each other, that helped them stay strong against their enemies.
Chain of Thorns, Ch. 1 - Jesse taking care of Lucie while she's unconscious after bringing him back. Supposedly takes Lucie back from whenever she is? The chapter is titled "Twilight", so I'm assuming Lucie is in a void where lost souls are... between the living and the dead. She fell there when she tried to bring Jesse back in Chain of Iron Ch. 13. In this occasion, it was Lucie who brought Jesse back from the world of shadows (ghosts) he had been for seven years. Maybe, Jesse's love will be able to bring Lucie back?

Let's take a moment to aprecciate this:
Kit was flung to the ground; he rolled over and came up on his feet, but by then black vines were whipping up out of the ground, slashing at him, winding around his legs.
Kit is getting better at fighting, or at least he seems to has developed some fighting instincts
That is Kit Herondale, our lost herondale and heir to the throne of Faerie😌

Here is one of my far too in depth Jeremy’s Family Theories that I posted here! okay so in this theory:
- Jeremy has an estranged oldest brother
- This brother goes by their father’s surname and not Knox
- Jeremy’s brother was also on the Trojans (but this may or may not be dependent on them having different surnames)
- Jeremy’s brother is/was homophobic
So I have a few theories about the Banquet incident and one that’s a mess of a bunch of different theories and it’s this: picture Older Brother. Older brother is a 4th year Trojan, he’s well liked, but he’s kind of an asshole in private. His dad is Jeremy’s dad - but he grew up with a different surname, because their parents were still together/married by the time he was in school. Jeremy and his sister became Knox kids after their mother married into the Knox family. The older brother was old enough and refused to change from his father’s surname. He tried to fit in with the Knox family but he knows he’s kind of a black sheep for it. He’s the one that’s excluded from public facing recognition, because he’s not a Knox.
SO
Jeremy gets scouted for the Trojans while his brother is still there, and to have his baby brother on the team was INFURIATING to him. He didn’t get along with Jeremy already, but to have him on this team. Oh, he hated Jeremy for that. But the key thing here is he never revealed that Jeremy was his younger brother. He threatened Jeremy as well, and told him to keep his mouth shut, and tell NO ONE that they were related.
Along comes the fall banquet. Jeremy is out as a gay man and has been for quite a while. It’s a bone of contention in his family but ultimately they accept it as long as he is quiet about it, and it doesn’t interfere with their political or public image. But Jeremy’s oldest brother never supported Jeremy and regularly insulted him or bullied him over it. So, Jeremy is out, and he decides to bring a man to the banquet. 1) his mother begged him not to. 2) his sister begged him not to. 3) everyone in his family begged him not to. But he refuses to hide who he is or pretend to be straight for the sake of their image. In the end there’s nothing they can do, and he goes with this man.
Jeremy, little freshman Jeremy, rolls up to the banquet with a man on his arm. It’s 2003, maybe 2004. It’s a huge deal. Jeremy’s older brother doesn’t know he is bringing said man to the banquet, and he fucking glares at him all night. He’s so angry. By the time the tables get moved, he plucks up the courage to cross the hall to Jeremy. Calls him a very unsavoury slur starting with an F and Jeremy hits his brother, he punches him square in the face. He would’ve hit him again, but they get pulled apart and he can’t. Theres witnesses. And still nobody knows they’re related. The brother leaves him alone, Jeremy promises to stay away from him, and the night continues.
Jeremy steps outside to get some air, and unbeknownst to him his brother follows him. An altercation ensues, and eventually they start PUMMELLING each other. His brother hits him first, Jeremy hits him back, there’s blood and bruises and now more witnesses as Jeremy’s brother beats him the fuck up. Somebody called the cops, and the cops have to separate them. They ask Jeremy if he wants to press charges; he says yes. He says he wants it to be reported as a hate crime. They ask his brother if he wants to press charges for assault, and he says yes. So they both get arrested.
Where I think Jeremy’s fear of cops comes from, or lack of trust, or hatred for them, is how he was treated that night. The cops tell him they need a reason to charge his brother with a hate crime, he tells them he’s gay, and he gets treated like SHIT. They search him for no reason, they’re looking for any reason they can to make him uncomfortable or drop the charges. They’re asking him did he do anything to deserve it? Did he antagonise his brother? Has he been drinking? They make him really fucking uncomfortable and upset. by the time his mom bails him out he’s ready to drop the charges, but decides not to. The brother goes to stay with his father, Jeremy goes home, and the Knox family pay A LOT of money to keep this quiet. They don’t charge Jeremy with assault, but maybe they tell his mom there’s nothing they can do about Jeremy’s charges against his older brother if he won’t drop them.
Proceed to the reaction from USC; they recognise it as a hate crime and Jeremy doesn’t get kicked out of school, but he does get a very stern warning and maybe gets benched for a while. His brother on the other hand loses everything: there’s an active hate crime charge against him, he brutally assaulted a freshman while representing the team, and he gets removed from the team and expelled from the university. The Knox family have no choice but to estrange him further than he already was - so he’s totally out of the picture.
Jeremy tore the family apart because of his refusal to drop the charges, then him dropping the charges and instead getting a no-contact/restraining order against his brother means that while he’s living there the brother cannot be in the picture. So brother who is already a black sheep for not being a Knox, is now no longer welcome in the family home (except for when Jeremy is not in the house - if he’s not estranged, possibly he visits on the weekends, or lives there during the summer? And that’s why Jeremy doesn’t live at home during those times?)
The scandal is that he caused a team member to be removed from the team as a freshman, his sister who doesn’t like him that much anyway can now no longer see her brother, and she stopped supporting Jeremy’s matches because of it. He tore the family apart because of his insistence on being “GAY HATE CRIME VICTIM”. They bullied him into not seeking justice - and his sibling hate him for this whole incident. They don’t agree with him being gay because of their political affiliations, his older brother lost HIS older brother because of him, his sister lost him too. Idk
Does this even make sense? Is it far fetched? I don’t know I don’t care I just had to get this off my chest. I could talk about my theories FOREVER. This is just. A quick short summary of the possibility of an oldest brother who’s no longer in the Knox Family Picture.
