Après plusieurs jours de tensions, nous sommes soulagés d’annoncer que les menaces à l’encontre de Christopher Herondale et Wilhelmina Carstairs semblent avoir été éliminées. Nous sommes entrés en contact avec Gwyn ap Nudd, de la Chasse Sauvage, qui nous confirme que la fée n’ayant prêté aucun serment connue sous le nom de Mère Hawthorn a été déplacée dans un lieu isolé, où elle sera détenue à l’avenir par la Chasse Sauvage.

Malheureusement, la sécurité de Christopher Herondale n’est toujours pas assurée sur le long terme. Je vous prie de trouver ci-joint, à loisir, de la correspondance personnelle contenant davantage de remarques et questions informelles.

J’ai demandé à Jem d’écrire la partie formelle de ce rapport parce que ça me donne la migraine. Je m’en voulais de lui demander, mais il a balayé mes inquiétudes d’un revers de la main : apparemment aucun d’entre nous ne croirait la quantité de documents administratifs que les Frères Silencieux doivent remplir. J’en ai été étonnée parce que j’ai du mal à associer « administratif » et « Cité Silencieuse », mais bon.

Bref, le rapport est exact. Julian Blackthorn, intelligent comme il est, a contacté Gwyn, qui a accepté de s’occuper de Mère Hawthorn. (Julian n’en avait parlé à personne, évidemment, parce qu’il aime ses révélations spectaculaires, comme nous nous en souvenons tous très bien.) Après avoir eu si peur, c’était vraiment magnifique quand la Chasse Sauvage est apparue, a saisi Mère Hawthorn et nous a ramené Mina.

D’ailleurs, Mina est heureuse, en bonne santé et absolument pas bouleversée, contrairement à ses parents. Elle était ravie au plus au point de voir la Chasse Sauvage, et depuis elle n’arrête pas de nous dire avec enthousiasme qu’elle a rencontré beaucoup de chevaux et que les chevaux sont ses amis. Kit, bien sûr, est au moins aussi bouleversé que nous, si ce n’est plus. Il l’a à peine quittée des yeux depuis son retour. Il dormait même par terre dans sa chambre. (Nous y avons installé un clic-clac après les deux premières nuits). Ça l’a fortement ébranlé. Il n’a pas beaucoup souhaité en parler, mais c’est évidemment très pesant pour lui. Depuis l’incident, il a ce regard inquiet que nous lui connaissons bien. Nous craignons qu’il ne commence à comprendre ce que son héritage peut réellement signifier, même si nous avons tout fait pour l’en protéger.

Malgré l’aide de Gwyn, ni Julian ni nous ne savons ce qu’il s’est passé exactement entre la Chasse Sauvage et Mère Hawthorn, et nous sommes peu disposés à le demander. Nous savons que le Royaume des Fées peut être cruel, qu’il est le plus cruel envers son propre peuple, et qu’il a un sens de la justice et de la discipline particulier, qui semble parfois très… inhumain. Ceci dit, nous faisons confiance à Gwyn, notamment parce que nous faisons confiance à Diana Wrayburn. S’il dit que Mère Hawthorn n’embêtera plus Kit, nous le croyons.

Nous ne savons toujours pas parfaitement ce que Mère Hawthorn a dit à Kit pendant qu’ils étaient seuls – quand nous pouvions les voir, et Mina aussi, mais pas les entendre. D’après Kit, c’était seulement ce à quoi nous pouvions nous attendre, mais quand il est revenu vers nous, il avait les yeux hagards. Je voudrais pouvoir exiger de savoir ce qu’elle a dit, ou quelles étaient ses menaces ou révélations, mais je sais que je ne peux pas. Il nous parlera quand il sera prêt.

Cela dit, nous ne savons pas si Mère Hawthorn a des alliés qui pourraient aussi connaitre le secret de Kit. Peu importe comment elle a essayé d’amadouer Kit, nous savons qu’elle a des intentions hostiles. Nous l’avions rencontré à Buenos Aires, avant même de savoir que Kit existait, et elle était très claire. Ses mots me sont restés en tête : « Un Premier Héritier existe encore dans ce monde. Quand le Premier Héritier émergera, dans toute la terrible gloire née du sang de la Cour des Lumières, de celui de la Cour des Ténèbres et de celui des Nephilim, j’espère qu’il détruira les Chasseurs d’Ombres ainsi que le Royaume des Fées. J’espère que le monde entier sera perdu. »

Je ne peux pas regarder Kit – étendu sur le clic-clac dans la chambre de Mina, la main serrée autour d’une des lattes de son berceau, même quand il dort – et penser « terrible gloire ». Il est comme n’importe quel autre Chasseur d’Ombres, une sorte d’ordinaire peu ordinaire. Il aime les films et les soirées spaghetti et il se ronge les ongles. Il n’est qu’une personne, pas un destin.

Pour l’instant, très peu de gens connaissent l’héritage de Kit. Emma et Julian, bien sûr, toi et Magnus, Jace et Clary… même les frères et sœurs de Julian ne savent pas, ou connaissent seulement un vague semblant de vérité. Mais à qui d’autre Mère Hawthorn a pu en parler ? Pas à la Cour des Lumières, certainement : nous sommes tous les deux sûrs que la Reine aurait déjà pris des mesures pour s’emparer de Kit si elle savait. Kieran sait, évidemment, mais nous ne savons à quels membres de la Cour il a pu en parler (d’après Emma, Mark et Cristina connaissent la situation en partie seulement). Kieran est clairement un allié, et sa Cour lui est fidèle. Mais il est facile d’imaginer qu’un courtisan audacieux (ou un elfe sauvage) ait pu découvrir cette histoire et cherche à en tirer profit.

Nous ne pouvons pas ignorer la réalité : les secrets comme celui de Kit finissent par être découverts et ne peuvent pas être protégés indéfiniment. Le garder au sein d’un petit cercle d’amis de confiance, rien qu’entre les Chasseurs d’Ombres, ça fait quand même une douzaine de personnes.

Ce qui nous amène à notre première véritable demande : Magnus pourrait-il venir à Cirenworth rapidement, pour renforcer les sortilèges de protection contre les incursions de ceux qui pourraient vouloir du mal à Kit ? Nous devons reconnaitre que ce n’est qu’une solution temporaire, mais pour l’instant c’est le mieux que nous puissions faire.

Pendant ce temps, nous sommes d’avis (et nous sommes certains que tu seras d’accord) que nous devons essayer de devancer cette menace. Nous avons sollicité Kieran pour que ses espions prêtent attention aux possibles rumeurs au sujet de Kit qui circuleraient dans le Royaume. Serais-tu disposé à faire la même chose, via l’Alliance ? Nous savons que ce n’est absolument pas le bon moment pour toi. Si nous avions pu, nous aurions tout à fait choisi un moment moins politiquement précaire pour présenter ce problème à l’Enclave. Sache que nous te soutenons et serons toujours à tes côtés. Nous nous sommes peut-être retirés de la vie active des Chasseurs d’Ombres, mais nous serons toujours présents si tu as besoin de nous.

Tu as assumé toutes ces responsabilités à un si jeune âge. Ne semble-t-il pas que les responsabilités se présentent toujours à nous Chasseurs d’Ombres trop tôt à l’aube de notre vie ? Je regarde mon cher Kit et je sais. Nous savons tous ce qui se prépare, comme lorsque l’on sait que le soleil va se coucher sur une journée que l’on souhaiterait infinie. La longue journée ensoleillée de l’enfance de Kit est presque terminée. Je tremble à l’idée de ce qu’il va devoir affronter à la tombée de la nuit.

Julian pointed out that it might be a trap, and Kit exploded. “Of course it’s a trap! But I can’t let Mina be hurt on my behalf.”

I don’t think I’ve ever seen him like that, Bruce. So angry or so determined. He’s growing up. Grown up, in a way, like Julian had to grow up so fast; it’s heartbreaking.

EMMA GIVING THE THIRD PERSON POV obviously does not make me feel connected to what kit feels but it was enough for me to stand up and stare at a wall for 15 minute till i digested the fact KIT IS GROWN UP now.

I told yall he was entering his julian blackthorn era and HE SOUNDS LIKE JACE, herondale stubbornness runs deep, like what are we getting at? KIT my baby boy becomes JULES AND JACE? have you any idea of the trauma they have combined now slowly reflecting in kit though jules and jace have nothing to do with( that i know of) his situation.

Ok it’s late here and it’s been a while since I have done a weird theory so bear with me please.

What if Kit has some relation to Lucifer? Maybe that’s what mother hawthorn told Kit when she spoke to him????

So this came into my mind while scrolling tiktok and a clip from Rosemary’s baby came up on my fyp and I thought “Rosemary is such a pretty name. Huh, that’s Kits moms name” then I realized both rosemary’s kind of look similar (based on description or blue eyes and blonde hair). What if Cassie got the inspo for Rosemary and kit from that movie? We know Lucifer is going to make his appearance in twp….

Po kilku dniach pełnych napięcia, z ulgą możemy poinformować, że zagrożenie wymierzone w Christophera Herondale’a i Wilhelminę Carstairs zostało wyeliminowane. Porozumieliśmy się z Gwynem Myśliwym, z Polowania, który zapewnił nas, że niezaprzysiężona faerie znana jako Matka Hawthorn została przeniesiona do odosobnionego miejsca i od tej pory jej pobyt tam będzie nadzorowany przez Polowanie.

Poprosiłam Jema o napisanie formalnej części raportu, ponieważ nie znoszę takich rzeczy. Czułam się źle, prosząc go o to, lecz on tylko machnął ręką – najwidoczniej żadne z nas nie uwierzyłoby, ile formalności muszą wypełniać Cisi Bracia. Byłam zaskoczona, ponieważ „formalności” i „Ciche Miasto” nie pasują mi do siebie, ale okej.

W każdym razie, raport jest dokładny. Julian Blackthorn, ten bystry chłopak, skontaktował się z Gwynem, który zgodził się zająć Matką Hawthorn. (Julian oczywiście nikomu nie zdradził, że to zrobił, ponieważ uwielbia spektakularne niespodzianki, chyba wszyscy o tym dobrze pamiętamy.) Po tych przerażających chwilach, cudownie było patrzeć, jak zjawia się całe Dzikie Polowanie, porywa Matkę Hawthorn i oddaje nam Minę.

Mina, tak przy okazji, jest cała i zdrowa, nawet nie była wstrząśnięta, w przeciwieństwie do jej rodziców. Ucieszyła się na widok Dzikiego Polowania i zachwycona powtarzała, że spotkała dużo koników i koniki są jej przyjaciółmi. Kit, rzecz jasna, jest tak samo roztrzęsiony jak my, może bardziej. Prawie nie spuszcza wzroku z Miny, odkąd wróciła. Nawet śpi na podłodze w jej pokoju. (Po kilku pierwszych nocach postawiliśmy tam kanapę.) Ciężko to zniósł. Nie chciał o tym zbyt dużo rozmawiać, ale z pewnością odcisnęło to na nim piętno, a po całym incydencie w jego spojrzeniu znów pojawiło się dobrze znane zmartwienie. Boimy się, że zaczyna do niego docierać, co jego pochodzenie może oznaczać, chociaż bardzo staraliśmy się go przed tym uchronić.

Pomimo uczynności Gwyna, ani my, ani Julian nie wiemy, co tak naprawdę zaszło pomiędzy Polowaniem a Matką Hawthorn, i nie mamy zamiaru pytać. Wiemy, że faerie potrafią być okrutne, najbardziej wobec siebie, i kryje się w tym poczucie sprawiedliwości i dyscypliny, które czasami wydają się… nieludzkie. Niemniej jednak, ufamy Gwynowi, nie tylko dlatego, że ufamy Dianie Wrayburn. Skoro powiedział, że Matka Hawthorn nie będzie już niepokoić Kita, to ufamy mu.

Wciąż nie wiemy, co Matka Hawthorn powiedziała Kitowi, kiedy byli sami – widzieliśmy ich, Minę też, ale nie słyszeliśmy. Kit mówi, że chodziło o to, czego mogliśmy się spodziewać, lecz kiedy do nas wrócił, w jego oczach malowało się przerażenie. Żałuję, że nie zapytałam, co mu powiedziała, czym groziła, albo co wyjawiła, ale nie mogłam. Sam nam powie, kiedy będzie gotowy.

Nie wiemy, czy Matka Hawthorn miała sojuszników, którzy mogą znać sekret Kita. Jak bardzo by nie chciała zjednać sobie Kita, to wiemy, że jest wrogo nastawiona; spotkaliśmy ją w Buenos Aires, zanim jeszcze dowiedzieliśmy się o istnieniu Kita, i wyraziła się dosyć jasno. Nie mogę zapomnieć jej słów: Nadal istnieje Pierwszy Dziedzic. Kiedy powstanie w całej swojej potwornej chwale okupionej krwią Jasnego Dworu, Ciemnego i Nefilim, mam nadzieję, że zniszczenie spadnie tak samo na Nocnych Łowców, jak i na Faerie. Mam nadzieję, że cały świat przepadnie.

Nie mogę patrzeć na Kita – leżącego na kanapie w pokoju Miny, z dłonią zaciśniętą na jej kołysce, nawet kiedy śpi – i myśleć o potwornej chwale. Jest jak każdy inny nastoletni Nocny Łowca, niezwykły w swej zwyczajności. Lubi wieczorami oglądać filmy i jeść spaghetti i obgryza paznokcie. Jest osobą, nie przeznaczeniem.

Na chwilę obecną – niewiele osób wie o pochodzeniu Kita. Emma i Julian, rzecz jasna, ty i Magnus, Jace i Clary… nawet rodzeństwo Juliana nie wie, albo znają jedynie fragment prawdy. Tylko komu jeszcze mogła powiedzieć Matka Hawthorn? Z pewnością nikomu z Jasnego Dworu; oboje wiemy, że Królowa już podjęłaby kroki, aby skontaktować się z Kitem, gdyby tylko wiedziała. Kieran też wie, oczywiście, ale nie mamy pojęcia, komu mógłby zwierzyć się na swoim Dworze (Emma twierdzi, że Mark i Cristina wiedzą co nieco o tej sytuacji, ale nie wszystko). Naturalnie Kieran jest sojusznikiem, a Dwór jest mu lojalny. Ale zbyt łatwo możemy wyobrazić sobie scenariusz, w którym jacyś przedsiębiorczy dworzanie – albo dzikie faerie – dowiedzą się o tym i spróbują wykorzystać tę wiedzę.

Zdaliśmy sobie sprawę, że prawda jest taka, iż sekret Kita w końcu wyjdzie na jaw i nie możemy strzec go w nieskończoność. Tylko wśród Nocnych Łowców, zachowując wszystko w kręgu najbardziej zaufanych przyjaciół, mamy przynajmniej tuzin osób znających prawdę.

W ten sposób przechodzimy do naszej pierwszej prośby: czy Magnus mógłby wstąpić niedługo do Cirenworth, by wzmocnić zaklęcia zapobiegające wtargnięciu osób chcących skrzywdzić Kita? Musimy uznać je za tymczasowe rozwiązanie, ale w tej chwili to nasza najlepsza opcja.

W międzyczasie, uważamy (i zapewne zgodzisz się z nami), że musimy działać z wyprzedzeniem w obliczu zagrożenia. Poprosiliśmy Kierana, aby jego szpiedzy wytężyli słuch na jakiekolwiek plotki o Kicie krążące w Faerie. Czy byłbyś skłonny zrobić to samo, poprzez Sojusz? Wiemy, że czas nie jest najlepszy – wolelibyśmy wybrać mniej niepewny dla Clave politycznie moment, gdybyśmy tylko mogli. Pamiętaj, że popieramy cię i zawsze będziemy u twego boku. Może i wycofaliśmy się z aktywnego życia Nocnych Łowców, ale zawsze możesz na nas liczyć, gdy zajdzie potrzeba.

Jesteś tak młody, a wziąłeś wszystko na swoje barki. Czyż nie wydaje się, że odpowiedzialność spada na nas, Nocnych Łowców, zbyt wcześnie, o poranku naszego życia? Patrzę na mojego drogiego Kita i wiem. Wszyscy wiemy, co nadchodzi, tak jak wiemy, że słońce zachodzi na końcu dnia, którego nie chcesz kończyć. Długi słoneczny dzień dzieciństwa Kita zbliża się do swojego kresu. Boję się pomyśleć, z czym będzie musiał się zmierzyć, gdy nastanie noc.

Common theme with Kit’s powers

Do I know what the common theme is with Kit's powers? No, I do not. Am I going to ramble for the entire post anyway? Yes, I will.

(And CC took down what she said and substitute it with an Ash answer. Why?)

This is a theory, but mostly I just recollected as much information as I could and hope someone finds this useful, so it’s LONG

(My first post about Kit’s magic, pre-GOTSM)

1. What do we know about Kit’s magic:

Few of his ancestors have manifested it before, save Auraline

It might have been triggered with the talent rune (He felt it burn when he first used them)

It may be connected or triggered with his emotions

It manifests in white light

Kit felt it like cold fire in his veins, electric

The first time he used them it made him fall to his knees from the force

It also drained him and he was ill for a few days

And it’s growing

2. So far, Kit’s powers are:

Glowing net: It trapped the riders. He describes it as “surged through him, electric, exploding” and it came from his hands. And then…

Make the Rider’s horses vanish: When he closed his hands, the horses vanished, “winked out of existence between one breath and the other”. We don’t actually know what happened to them. Did they cease to exist? Moved to a pocket dimension? To another place in the world?

Channel magic: Magnus felt Kit humming when he got close to the circle and ask him to add his focus to the magic. Kit was actively channelling his magic without knowing. When Magnus broke the curse, the magic was still blue (Magnus’). I also find this curious, taking into account fey and warlock magic are said to be mutually exclusive.

3. Bonus:

Better Sight: We’ve seen this in two occasions, in LOS with Ty and Livvy, and in SOBH with the Blackthorn ring (My post comparing them).

Maybe the necromancy?: People have said before Kit might have had a role in the necromancy ritual without his knowledge. I’m not going to go into detail, but if you’re interested you can read this post.

The Peacemaker: Created by Cristopher Lightwood, it was meant to kill demons. Kit was able to shoot it, and the only other person who could was James, but his sister Lucie not, so we don’t actually know why some people can and some not. Tessa and Jem thought it may be because of his fey heritage (Not possible, it didn’t work for General Winter) or his First Heir blood.

Vibrating with power: Magnus said he had a feeling of power, humming in Kit, when he got close to the circle where he was doing magic, like when your body vibrates with a loud sound, but silence. And he probably isn’t aware. In my opinion, when a 400-years-old warlock tells you he hasn’t felt anything like that before, you’re in serious problems.

Given the fact his powers come from the Seelie Queen /Unseelie King, I thought it was worth investigating them.

4. The Seelie Queens abilities we know:

Glamours: She can make herself change her appearance to reflect people’s desires.

Telekinesis: In the Court scene, she throws Annabeth into a wall with a motion of her hand.

Strong physical strength: She was able to draw free from some redcaps who held her like they were nothing.

Inflict pain at touch: When she escaped from the redcaps, some of them fell screaming to the floor with their hands burned and blackened, their fingers snapped.

Teletransport: Sha vanished from the Unseelie Court with Adaon.

6. Unseelie King / Kieran:

Glamour: He made Emma believe a faerie was her father.

Projection: Arawan made himself appear to Kieran in LOS.

7. Auraline’s known powers

Expanding someone’s life: She used it in Roland, and it made him live longer than he should have.

Perfect loyalty: This is tricky, because it’s more like a spell on her and we know Kit didn’t inherit it.

(I have the theory that even if Kit can’t cast perfect loyalty, the remains of that magic make him immune to it and it will play a role in Kit and Ash’s relationship, because not only are they similar, but also Kit will be the only one immune to it. The extent of Auraline’s magic is unknown, after all it’s not only what she inherited form her parents, but also given to her from the spells and magic they used on her before and after she was born. It's still unknown what the connection is between the disfiguration in the face of Arawan, and Auraline. And there’s also the prophecy, but now it’s not important).

The codex says fey magic is chaotic, difficult to structure or has rules that can be learned. Malcom said in LM warlock magic and fey magic are like two different languages, so it probably wouldn’t work if Magnus tried to teach Kit. Demonic magic and fey magic are very different, but are believed to have the same origin.

I’m not sure if the theme CC was talking about is why his powers manifest or the nature of them, but here are my ideas:

A. Dimensional magic

What the Seelie Queen did (Teleporting herself inside of a dimension) is dimensional magic. And also, what the Unseelie King did with the portal to Thule (Or maybe Kieran with the portal in Faerie, as some believed Faerie is a different dimension).

Long ago, I theorised Kit had dimensional magic (Mention in the first post about Kit’s powers), and even if I don’t see it as a common theme in his powers, it’s the only real idea I have. But dimensional magic is technically demoniac, and fey magic is neither demoniac nor seraphically allied.

B. Wild magic

Can you imagine if what he has is wild magic and Auraline could lie? I really don’t believe it, but let’s explore this possibility.

Kit doesn’t seem affected by iron, salt, nor rowan wood, and has no problem with technology. He specifically says so in QOAAD after he discovers he has fey blood and he’s confused about it.

Can it be because his blood is diluted? Yes. I think so? No. Maybe it’s just another thing that he’s different about.

People talk about how much fey blood he has talking with percentage, but if we used this same idea with his shadowhunter blood is much worse. He would be maybe 1/34 shadowhunter, and he definitely doesn’t have any problem with runes or any other shadowhunter thing. Some blood is just predominant, more difficult to get diluted.

But getting back to the wild magic, the users we know are the Wild Hunt and the Riders. The members of the Wild Hunt are immune to typical faerie weaknesses, such as salt, grave dirt, and cold iron, and the Riders could lie because of it. When Emma killed Fal in LOS, she describes it to Kieran as “have you ever held ice so long in your hand that the coldness hurt your skin” and Kit described his magic as cold fire.

We don’t have a lot of knowledge about it, apart from being older even than the shadowhunters.

C. Common trigger: Emotions

All the moments he used magic were very emotional for him. The Riders are about to kill him / discovering about his mother’s fate and the aftermath of the reunion with Ty. But to be fair, when doesn’t he now? That boy needs a vacation.

There are various people who have talked about it more extensively.

CONCLUSION

These are all the possibilities I could think about after deeply studying QOAAD, SOBH and the Codex. It’s probably going to be something very obvious and I’ll feel very silly afterwards, but at least with the Mina situation, I’m sure we’re going to learn more. Until then, this is all I have.

I’m probably going to end up having a Wall of Crazy like Emma :)

Cattonquick boarding school sweethearts/romeo & Juliet AU

In which Oliver also comes from old money and he and Felix fall in love in boarding school(?). The Quicks and the Cattons have been business partners since Queen Victoria was still kicking so Ollie and Felix have known each other their whole lives (summers and holidays always spent together) but when their family ties are suddenly severed after a hostile fight between their fathers, the boys’ last year at Eton is irrevocably ruined. As a reaction they decide (it was Felix’s idea and he succeeded in cajoling Oliver to agree) to elope run away on the first day of the Christmas holidays (imagine their respective chauffeurs endlessly waiting for them at the school gates lmao) and get married on a whim (also Felix’s idea to somehow "fix" things like ta-da! Can’t separate us now dad, we’re fucking married. Oliver is now a Catton. Family peace restored! No, not really Felix lmao.)
