💌 simblr asks: what kind of world would you like to see next in TS4?

I'd like to see a world inspired by Amsterdam or Copenhagen. There's a canal, many parks, and bicycle routes. Old Town is densely packed with old buildings turned into apartments, shops, and cafes. Outskirts of the town has agricultural lands with few private homes. There may be an industrial area on the other side of the map. In terms of weather, I would like to see all four seasons. Winter is cold and snowy; summer is hot. And sledding is possible on every snowy slope!

Hi! Have you played through the ts4 university pack once? Just wondering if you recommend it! (:

I’ve attempted to, but it never ends well, even my most clever sims still struggle, bc it isn’t even about skill, but rather time management. Even when adding mods to shorten homework cycles, and cutting their classes down to only two per term, my sims still couldn’t get a decent grade.

I also just found it kind of boring in general, bc it focuses too much on learning, and not enough on the other aspects of college, like finding friends, learning new skills that aren’t a part of your sim’s curriculum, and having other things to do off campus besides drink at the bar.

They also fucked up severely for NOT having actual interactive sit in lectures. The constant disappearing outside deco buildings to go to class ruins immersion, and the bicycle, being one of its biggest selling points, is an absolute mess to use on the campus.

Only reason I got it was for the build content, clothes and robots, which, by no surprise at all, turned out to be kinda disappointing compared to TS3’s plumbots.

I think TS4 just really aggravates me sometimes because it can be so cute and once in a while, REALLY really really fun when the planets align and your game gets ever slightly chaotic, but like in the crazy story way not in the “my bride just went down the aisle on her stupid fucking bicycle” way

Like to this day one of my favorite households I’ve ever had was a single dad and his daughter. I spent most of their money on their starter home. He was teaching himself programming with the hopes he could get himself a solid, stable job in the future and in the meantime he was making some extra cash with plugins, it was pretty much what they were eating off of. But when his daughter was at school, he’d go to a local bar and play for tips and they were barely scraping by. Bills were due, a fire struck, and he suddenly found himself hacking someone’s trust fund to make sure their utilities weren’t turned off.

But games like that seem one in a hundred, but the fact they’re possible really makes you see the potential in this game, and makes it even more disappointing when they come out with another feature that doesn’t have the depth it deserves or is just something you can micromanage at most, with no negative consequences.

A new strip mall

Okay. I haven’t opened my game in about a week because I finally decided to do something about my RL flower garden. I’ve been neglecting it for the past 3 years, but finally decided to remedy that.

But enough of that. Today, I’ll show you Tedhi’s little mall lot that she built on that spot where the diner used to be. I made a few changes to the lot – mostly replacing base-game stuff with CC - but not too many.

Outside, I replaced her bus-stop bench with that bicycle set MsPoodle made. The town leaders are trying to reduce carbon emissions by encouraging the use of bicycles. Not because they actually give a rat’s ass, but they own the bikes and get a kick-back. (And besides, Tedhi placed a bus-stop on her Doo Peas lot, so I didn’t need this one.)

The biggest change was to the grocery store. Here’s that Keaton dude going inside. I added that Llama sign, just because I like it.

Inside, I replaced the base-game deco with some CC I have – most of which came from Around the Sims 3. So thank you, Sandy! I didn’t add a lot of items, because I hate getting those notifications, “Your Sim is an idiot and is currently stamping his little, pixilated feet, because he’s too stupid to go around an object.” I then took the godawful NPC into CAS and made him semi-presentable. I also switched out a few items in the salon part of the lot, but nothing much. Other than that, I left the lot pretty much the way it was.

Next I went over to the new police department she made. Outside, I exchanged some plants in that one flowerbed for that sign Sandy converted from TS4. Over the door, I added a “video” camera from TSR, created by cyclonesue. And a mailbox from somewhere – not sure where.

In the “dog” training area, I switched out the bathtub Tedhi used for the one Sandy created for her dog salon set. (Again, thank you, Sandy!)
