[Pigeons over Beijing] . . Pigeon keeping and racing are popular hobbies in Beijing, it's always fun to see them race in circles around the hutong during sunset. . . #nature #birdsofinstagram #birdwatching #pigeons #sunset #clouds #pinkandblue #naturephotography #natureview #optoutside🌲 #getoutside #sunset_bliss #thatsbeijing #fallforchina #chinatrips #chinanationaldiscovery #loveschina #beijinginsta #instabeijing #travelchina #chinadestinations #instamood #moodynature #watchthisinstagood (at Beijing)

Tursun Zunun, 58, Master Potter Each piece is carefully examined in the beams of light that sift through the ceiling's wooden planks. While he is assuredly a master of his craft, his patience, kindness and perseverance are equally inspiring. Tursun Zunun graciously opened his home to us and shared his family's story and their traditional craft. He has been working in this studio his entire life, a humble corner of Kashgar that has been passed down for six generations. . . #china #xinjiang #uyghur #新疆 #美丽中国 (at Kashgar, Xinjiang, China)

‘Evening talk by a snowy window’
Hope everyone is enjoying their winter! It is really cold here in Beijing this week... And there is a mighty wind racing through the hutong... I love having traditional windows, but they aren’t exactly optimal for cold weather..

A Black Golden Bell Cricket, they have a lovely song and make great little pocket pets! In Beijing they just call them 金钟 jīn zhōng literally golden bell. The character 钟 is specifically used for large bells, like a cathedral bell, while 铃 líng is typically used for jingle-bell sized bells. There are also a much much smaller variety of cricket, like a tic-tac called 金玲 jīn līng, and they are almost all gold in color (usually sold 5 at a time in a box). I think the former have a sweeter tone to them.
