listen. harry brewis isn't exempt to criticism. however I think it's very ironic and telling how much people have been missing the very point of his video on plagiarism and turned his name on a new topic to exploit as of late.
when i was trying to look up clips of harry's older videos this came up, and the contents were about the creator clearly being disapointed her line of work (drama youtube) was disregarded as sloppy and something with no effort put into it.
while I do understand her hurt, the thumbnail and title is inherently clickbaiting potential viewers, and her point comes off as a nitpick of a segment harry made out of his own frustration with content mills and how much situations on or between content creators can be so throughly exploited for "commentary" when people don't end up saying anything at all.
I think that this is a prime example of the things harry deemed important to criticise. someone who clearly had a point to make about harry's video felt the need to make sure they could milk the shit out of it.
#hbomberguy#as a long term fan it actually bothers me how people will think of harry as “the guy who murders people's reputations”#or only judge his character by this one video#because harry doesn't usually do stuff like this or at least not only stuff like this#this format is very familiar to a lot of his videos#even the ones that seem trivial#harry also talks about dangerous right wing ideologies and videogames and series he cares about#and it feels so desingenious to just label him as this big takedown video essayist who's egotistical and full of himself#yes the guy has flaws and mistakes and some of his older work isn't the most polished. don't get me wrong you are free to criticise him#but not while you are making money off something that seems like a nitpick in retrospect or using a strawman argument

it will never stop being insane to me that possibly the most accurate adaptation of sherlock holmes (minus any explicit mention of drugs) is from Gay Lawyer Visual Novel Spinoff Series: Let's Go To Meiji Japan and bc it wasn't public domain yet, the localised versions decided to call him fucking HERLOCK SHOLMES

its rly fascinating that when i want to talk about a specific brand of transphobia im an asshole for not phrasing it like a PR team.
but when baeddels are actively transphobic its "just talking about the transmisogyny they face" and its actually just fine that they use slurs meant to degrade and misgender to refer to trans men + use porn terms to talk about us despite saying that using porn terms to talk about them is transphobic and evil + oh they didn't mean it like that.
if i try to talk about transphobia its immediately "piss on the poor website" where every word is under criticism. but on the opposite end even using slurs or being openly transphobic earns some cheers and, well, rare opposition.
i didn't even tag my post with common searchable tags,, y'all just want to be mad because it's a lot more comfortable to see trans men under attack.
if you criticize a few trans women for transphobic behaviour that makes You transphobic for criticizing them. if they call you slurs and other above mentioned things they are not transphobic bc ofc its impossible to be transphobic to trans men.

Elena of Avalor is genuinely such a good show.
#Personal#You know I've never forgotten about this show for a single day even after it ended#Just thinking about it makes me happy already but I recently listened to all the songs again#and directly interacting with the show and rewatching the clips from it hits so much different#I really need to do a full rewatch someday I haven't watched the show in ages#Just episodes I love most or something random for the content making purposes which is certainly not the same as watching for pure enjoymen#I probably realized it long ago but I'm currently in the 'analyzing my life' state of mind#and this show means so much to me on a personal level too because it brings up so many important topics to me as a person#And it just does it so well it's clear to see that creators actually cared about the story they wanted to tell#And really EoA also has absolutely fascinating and unique worldbuilding#and in the combination of important not trivial messages and dynamic layered characters this is just such a solid show#It really deserved to get more recognition#I wouldn't even say attention because lots of attention may cause more harm than good#It's actually more about recognition and acknowledgement#Really I'm not even talking about what a huge impact being a part of the fandom has had on my life#it's worth the whole separate post#I'm just talking about the show itself and how great and meaningful it is#Anyway EoA warms my heart and I'm so happy I encountered this show
