trans carmy. TRANS CARMY. Just. (Falls to my knees) listen to me. It just makes sense

It starts with him growing up an awkward kid, the outcast. I feel like he felt different than others in a way he couldn’t place which is so trans of him. I mean also his cptsd which is a big part of his character for me but that’s another gigantic post.

There are physical aspects that really add to this well. For one, he’s a short king. So trans of him. Another thing is his staple trans masc fit. White t shirt and jeans give him gender euphoria and he is sticking to that. Also the little chain…. Not universal ofc but my fellow transmascs and I love a good chain. Even him being muscular asf is so trans, like bulking up when you go on testosterone bc it’s so much easier to is so real.

AND HIS TATTOOS. UGH. The tattoos are a layered thing. It makes me think about that awful head chef carmy worked under. The lines I’m thinking about are when he’s saying to carmy like, “you think you’re so tough, you’re worthless, you have those tattoos so you can feel like you’re tough but you’re nothing”. I think the tattoos are epic but also an extension of how he expresses his gender. it validates his masculinity for him.

He’s really eager to prove his masculinity to the world, particularly to the culinary world. I mean masculinity in the sense that he wants to prove that he’s man enough, that he’s made himself into a man that’s just as good as the cis men around him. I think there’d be a ton of pressure to feel like he’s up to par, especially in a super competitive field with a lot of men.

It’s even in his name. Carmen. Carmy. The way it’s masculine and feminine, the way he might’ve been born as Carmen and just decided to keep it that way. The way he goes primarily by a chosen name, even if it is just a nickname.

I feel like it even adds layers to his relationship with Michael, too. I see Carmy, who feels isolated from his peers for being trans (and just different in general), and Michael being one of the only people to really affirm who he is. Carmy and Mike were best friends. I have no doubt that Carmy really felt secure around him, which is why the betrayal of not letting him work at the restaurant hurt even more than it already did. Why Mike’s death would be even harder for Carmy to stomach.

His transness is why Carmy is the black sheep of his family. Why he doesn’t come home. Why his relationship with his mother is strained. Of course, I think this is all primarily because he has a dysfunctional family and lots of trauma, but it still adds to my vision.

Anyway I could go on but these are the main point. I just think Carmy is transmasc as hell

i imagine carmy's top surgery scars are rly stretched out and prominent bc he wouldn't take adequate time off work. first of all, even at the best restaurant in the world i doubt chefs get good pto. secondly and more importantly, he wouldn't want anyone in the kitchen at his ny restaurant to know why he was out for a week or two, so you know he was lifting heavy objects as soon as he got back. i also think he would generally not give a fuck about the appearance of his scars. like he would do the bare minimum during the healing process so nothing got infected, but he wouldn't be the type to like. do deep tissue massage to get perfectly invisible results.

FtM Trans Carmy

Growing up, Carmen's body had never quite felt comfortable. Then puberty hit and it got worse. It took a while to find the right words why a misery gnawed at his guts each time he had to look in a mirror, shower or even put on a dress. There was no escaping it though, his mother loved putting him in matching dresses at Nat and she made such a scene the one time he'd asked if he could match Mikey instead. After that he didn't dare ask about getting his hair cut, about playing outdoors with Mikey and Richie rather than having to stay and help Nat in the kitchen.

The kitchen at least was a kind of escape. While at school he was considered weird, never fitting in anywhere, with Nat, he could be himself. He could be Carmy. Until Donna entered the room at which point it was back to "girls, where's the wine?" and "I wouldn't know what I'd do without my lovely daugthers, you take such good care of this family." But those moments when it was just Carmy and Nat, where she helped him tie his hair so it felt shorter, sneaked him bandages and whispered instructions for how to tie them around his chest as she'd heard from one of her friends, it meant that the kitchen became a safe haven.

By the time Carmy left for New York, Mikey, Nat, Richie, they all called him Carmy. Mikey gave him his old coat, blue and brown, woollen and warm, saying he'd need it in New York more than the Chicago weather required it. They both knew it was utter bullshit but Carmy took it anyway, one of his most treasured possessions.

Arriving in New York, one of the first things he did was go get his hair cut, relishing how he could finally be himself. By the time he stepped foot in the restaurant, he had no doubts of who he was, who he wanted to be.

Returning home for Christmas, Nat beamed at him in pride. Their mother wailed, tugged at his shorter hair, pretended to be shocked that the chef Carmen Berzatto that the critics lauded as the next king of the kitchen was actually her daughter. Too tired to argue, Carmy let her rant. At least Mikey dragged him out for a smoke with Richie, ribbing him for being a short king. Then asked whether he was all set for the surgery that nobody except Nat was supposed to know about.

When Carmy returned to The Beef, aside from Richie and Nat, nobody knew him from growing up. His posture was no longer slumped, trying to hide the body that didn't feel like his. Facial hair was still a bit hit and miss but he could manage some decent stubble. The best part though? He finally felt like he could be himself.

MY 2023 RECAP THING

Hello everyone, I've come to you all to look back at some of my posts from this year. I will go over which fics and/or headcanons currently have the most upvotes by the month that I posted them in. I will also be sharing some fics/headcanons I think deserve more love and fics/headcanons of my mine are my personal favorites. Then I will shout out a couple of people before giving my final thoughts. Hope you all enjoy this and have a good new year.

Starting in January, I posted 3 fics and 3 headcanons. But there can only be top three and those are 141 & Los Vaqueros getting saved after shit fell on them winning with 1061 upvotes, Lingerie cod men would wear on their honeymoon with 951 upvotes, and Racoon look alike with 639 upvotes.

Now on to Febuary. I posted 6 fics and 4 headcanons. And the top three are Cod men with a s/o that age regresses with 576 upvotes, For your fucking information with 552 upvotes, and Good boy at 503 upvotes.

Next up is March. I posted 2 fics and 2 headcanons in this month. The top three being 141 meeting Price's heavily tattooed & piericed s/o with 844 upvotes. Young dumb and in love with 372 upvotes, and Jason Vorhees with a tall dom s/o with 304 upvotes.

In April I only posted 1 fic and 1 headcanon. Meaning there is only top two those being 141 & Los Vaqueros reactions to you giving them a random gift with 872 upvotes and Rock and roll legend with 706 upvotes.

Similair to May I only posted 1 headcanon in May. So we only have a top one which is Diego Hargreeves NSFW headcanons with 124 upvotes.

Then in June I posted 3 fics and 1 headcanon. And our top three are Bite with 835 upvotes, Sexy army uniform with 555 upvotes, and Laundry day at 305 upvotes.

Next in the month of July, I posted 1 fic and 3 headcanons. The top three being Fucking Wesker, Leo, and Carlos in their office at 211 upvotes, Sleep aid with 76 upvotes, and Lingerie I think Jamie Tartt would wear at 20 upvotes.

Now in August I posted 1 fic and 4 headcanons. But our top three are Random SFW & NSFW Slasher hcs with 509 upvotes, 4 times Mr. Handsy struck with 303 upvotes, and 141 & Los Vaqueros with a chubby bf with 223 upvotes.

Then in September I posted 3 fics and 1 headcanon. But out of these 4 the top three are 141's Hitman "friend" with 330 upvotes, 141 with a s/o that smokes Mary Jane with 324 upvotes, and After a long day with 113 upvotes.

Next in October I posted 7 fics and 5 headcanons. However the top three are, Slashers with a s/o that uses humor to cope with 273 upvotes, Stress relief with 262 upvotes, and You sure about this with 250 upvotes.

Now coming close to the end of the year in November I posted 4 fics and 8 headcanons. The top three out of these being, Cod men with a s/o that is a good cook with 578 upvotes, The bar with 323 upvotes, and The lovey couple with 76 upvotes.

But now last but not least in December I posted 4 fics and 4 headcanons. But our top three are Love languages Matt Murdock and Frank Castle like giving and receiving with 127 upvotes, The start of Billy and his metal head bf relationship with 116, and Ghost comforting his trans bf with 109 upvotes.

I posted a total of 35 fics and 37 headcanonst this year which is crazy now to put in perspective. Thank you guys for all the love and support that kept me going and posting.
