Fun/Soft Halloween Scarecrow Headcanons
Every Halloween is a national holiday for Jonathan Crane
He looks forward to the holiday every year, and prepares for it from thanksgiving to the forth of july.
Hes the first person to attend after Halloween sales, and he usually stacks a cart full of on sale candy
However, Jonathan does NOT like those cutesy scarecrows they sell every fall. He has been known to steal them off lawns and porches and burn them.
He does enjoy those houses that go all out for Halloween, big decorations and scary light shows are his thing™
Loves sitting on the stairs of his farmhouse hideout in full scarecrow regalia with a bowl of candy in his lap. When an unsuspecting kid comes close, she screams and jumps in their face.
Actually enjoys it when kids dress up as him for Halloween Has been known to give out full sized candy bars to the best costumed kids.
You know the old rumor about drugs being in Halloween candy? That’s because Scarecrow used to inject fear toxin into candy bars.
He’s also the origin of apples with razor blades.
Loves to carve jack o lanterns and full them with fear toxin.
He does this because in years past, teenagers would break his jack o’ lanterns. Now, they get a rotten “trick” if they try to ruin his hard work.
Has been known to haunt corn mazes
Also loves to crash parties and tractor rides
The kids of gotham will sometimes put out offerings for Scarecrow, so that he doesn’t steal their candy.
He steals the candy anyway. But still appropriates the effort.

The Importance of Proper Car Battery Disposal
Check out more information on Auto Repair Shop Near Me from here.Everyone is familiar with the generic situation in which the battery in a person's car has died, leaving them stranded in a public parking lot or on the side of the road. In these cases, a person simply contacts a friend, family member, or roadside assistance company for help. They will show up with a new battery, remove the old one, and hook everything back up together again. Changing and replacing a battery in a car is common knowledge for most adults; however, knowing what to do with the used battery once its removed is not. There are several constituents inside a car's battery that allows it to cooperate and function within vehicles. These same components are mostly chemical-based, and can be tremendously hazardous in various aspects. Continue reading to learn how to properly get rid of a used car battery, and why safe battery disposal is so important to us and our surrounding environment.
What is Inside a Car Battery?
These kinds of batteries contain several dangerous chemicals, materials, and heavy metals. For instance, a standard 12 volt battery contains elements such as lead, plastic, sulfuric acid, and more. Diesel engine vehicles, like semi-trucks and tractors, may use a 24 volt system; requiring the use of two 12 volt batteries to operate. This means double the toxins, chemicals, and heavy metals. These 12 volt batteries are made with lead plates and lead dioxide plates. These plates are submerged in an electrolyte solution made up of sulfuric acid and water. The chemical reaction of the two elements creates electrons that let them pass through conductors, running electricity to the vehicle's engine and inner components.
When a battery begins to lose its power, it is because the acid within the electrolyte solution has reacted with the plates, changing them from lead and lead dioxide, to lead sulfate. When the battery in a vehicle is recharged, this same process is simply reversed. All these chemicals that make a vehicle's battery function have proven useful in the automotive world, but they still need to be handled responsibility to protect ourselves and the environment from harm. One of the best ways to do this is by recycling used batteries from cars. It is the best and most responsible method to car battery disposal.
Batteries Can Be Recycled
One unique aspect of batteries is that they are almost completely recyclable. This means that nearly all of a battery's components can be recycled and reused for new car batteries. For example, the lead is virtually one hundred percent recyclable; and can be melted down, filtered, and refurbished in new car parts. The plastic components are also completely recyclable and can be reused in other products. Surprisingly, the sulfuric acid can even be reused. It can be counteracted and purified to be released as uncontaminated water, converted into sodium sulfate (for fertilizers, dyes, etc.), or reused in new car batteries.
To recycle a used battery, simply take it to a local automotive repair shop. Most garages will accept used batteries and other vehicle parts. They can also provide replacement service for you while you are there. To be sure, call around ahead of time to find a reliable company. Some auto repair shops will pick up donated or recycled car parts. Other places to recycle a car battery include scrap metal yards, junk car lots, or junk yards. Recycling these, along with all other car parts, is a great contribution to protecting our environment and preserving our natural resources.
Consequences of Improper Car Battery Disposal
Now that we know what's inside a car's battery that makes it so toxic and dangerous, we can begin to discuss how these chemicals can affect our homes, health, and surroundings. Improper disposal can lead to chemical outflows that will contaminate the air, water, and soil. This is why car batteries are classified as hazardous waste. Not only can irresponsible disposal harm the Earth, it can be detrimental to our health as well. This is why it is vital to wear gloves and safety goggles while handling car batteries; new or used. If relocating them, be sure they are in an upright standing position to prevent seepage during transportation. Ingestion of any of the chemicals can be very dangerous. If you come into contact with any inner component of a car's battery, it is advised to wash your hands immediately. If a child or pet touches these chemicals, it is important to wash them right away as well.

The brown fields of the western midlands sped by in a near blur as the train left the Birmingham conurbation and passed into rural Herefordshire. It was mid-autumn now, and the harvests completed. The apple orchards had all been picked clean of their fall fruits and sent off to market or crushed and juiced into seasonal ciders. Small herds of sheep meandered in their pastures, grazing at grass now browned as the weather cooled towards winter, their coats grown out to guard against the chill.
The one thing she didn’t see much of was people. Britain proper was prosperous, of course; the pound sterling still traded at the world’s highest exchange rates. The UK parliament had balked at the prospect of a unified currency, and so the rand and various dollars had remained, although pegged at a fixed rate relative to the central denomination. But in due course, the farmers and farriers had all migrated away from the rural midlands and taken up new employment as merchants and marketers in the more urban centers. The land was still fertile here, for some time at least, but now it belonged to the machines. The drone tractors and tillers and threshers were all idled now under barn roofs or lean-tos, their summer works finished, as if resting before taking up winter duty as plows or salt-trucks come the snows. Prayers to Demeter or Aine had been replaced with swears at Deere and AGCO, although they often carried the same futility. Even the bees had been replaced, after the great dying; their tiny buzzing wings now traded for the low hum of rotors as their simulacra flitted about carrying pollen and confusing predatory birds.
As they passed Gloucester and into Wales, the River Severn emptied into Bristol Channel and she could see all the way out to the Atlantic. The seas had risen here too, of course, as no effort of man could yet hold back them back, but Britain was largely immune from the worst. London had been bulwarked for a thousand years against the flooding of the Thames, and the port cities all braced or barricaded against the advancing surf. Wind and tidal generators dotted the horizon all around the coast, turning Nature’s fury into man’s gain. Britannia rule the waves, indeed. Some seaside properties had moved; the poorer communities had to relocate inland, and the new littoral real estate was gobbled up and repurposed into pricy condominiums or resorts for upper class holidays. The ports, again as vital to commerce as ever in earlier centuries, had multiplied, their piers expanding out over the breakers like the long fingers of industry stretching over a swirled tumbler of gin.
The train pulled into Cardiff station and Chatham exited into the station, grabbing some take-away kebab and sitting down at a wrought-iron table to take stock of her situation. The meeting with her superiors had not gone well, and she replayed the events in her head as she considered her options.
DCI Ratnayaka was supportive, at least, but they were joined in his office by a liaison from the Home Office. Whoever he was, he’d been introduced by both name and title, but she couldn't be bothered. They were all interchangeable, the bureaucrats, at least in her experience. She'd been to Westminster once to receive her Military Cross; it reminded her of a giant ant colony in both form and function, and that was before she'd been paraded around like a prized crumb stolen from Grandmama’s biscuit cupboard. The fellow might as well have been Undersecretary for the Ministry of Peace for all it would matter to her; she wouldn’t waste the effort, and anyway she was sure the relevant details had already been transmitted to her mobile. Much like those ants, she was apt to find the bureaucracy exactly where she least wanted it.
She’d recounted the details as best she could recall, and explained her concerns given the situation she’d found below deck and the deadly potential. Clearly further investigation was needed, and the Lord Swansea should be called before a HeRMES inquiry panel.
The government’s man was unswayed. It was a time of great economic distress, his counter-argument had gone, and the Government was leaning heavily on major players like the Ross Consortium to assist them in navigating the increasingly new fiscal reality. Besides, His Majesty had a personal stake in the Ross board, and it would not do for Him to be associated with untoward activities, especially of a potentially terrorist nature. The tabloids would have a field day. No, MI5 could control the message via the social networks; better to leave it alone, and stick to the cover story, than risk what might become an… indelicate investigation.
“What about the lives of the men in the skiffs?” she asked, barely masking her contempt. “Or does their indelicacy not rate investigation?”
“The pirates and smugglers? Hardly,” the Home Office man replied. “Good riddance to bad rubbish.”
“And you’re not at all concerned about the fact that we found some kind of uncontrolled toxin in Ross crates?” she said.
“My concern, Detective,” he said, chewing on her title as if it were a crisp, “is that you and Leftenant Ayobe disabled terrorists carrying weapons and illicit drugs. The world is an increasingly dangerous place, but your brave actions represent the type of inter-service collaboration that His Majesty’s father envisioned when the Union was formed, God rest his soul.”
“Yes, and I’m sure The Old Ginger would be thrilled to know his progeny was using it for political gain.”
“Detective!” her superior snapped. “Decorum, please.”
Home Office waved him off. “Your concerns are not without merit. DCI Ratnayaka argued strongly for your character and your experience in certain… high profile investigations. Given that input, the Government will allow you to continue your investigation as it relates to stolen, and,” he paused for dramatic effect, “potentially hazardous Ross goods.”
Chatham started to object, but her governor raised an eyebrow from across the desk, beckoning her to remain seated.
“You will not mention terrorism to any party. You will forward any findings outside of your jurisdiction, which includes only crimes against His Majesty’s Government or its Citizens, directly to myself and MI6. And above all, you will be discrete,” the Government’s man said with finality, rising to leave the office.
“We’ve arranged for you to meet with Lord Swansea at the Ross headquarters tomorrow,” Ratnayaka said, hoping to defuse the situation.
“And one more thing, Detective – you and Leftenant Ayobe are to be honored for your service at a ceremony at the Ministry of Defense,” Home Office continued, “on the week-end. Obviously you will be on your best behavior,” he cautioned, before closing the office door behind him.
“Fokken idioot,” Chatham swore breathlessly towards the door. She blushed as she realized her superior was still sitting at his desk, glaring. “Sorry, sir.”
“What am I going to do with you?” he asked quietly, sighing.
“The same thing you’ve always done,” the detective replied, flashing a faux-smile.
“Be careful with this one, Detective. I’d advise you not cross the powers that be, but I know you likely won’t listen. I don’t know what it is that drives you to this disrespect for authority that you cultivate, but mark my words, one day it will get you into trouble that neither I nor your record will get you out of. I just pray it’s not the kind that comes staring down the barrel of a gun,” the chief inspector cautioned.
She gathered her things and stood to leave, lingering briefly in the doorway. “I’ve been shot before, gov,” she scoffed. “Can’t say I’d much like to relive that experience, either.”
She’d boarded the train then, straight away, to return back to Cardiff, where it had all begun. She still had no idea who had called in the tip about the gun-runners, but HeRMES had been investigating arms trafficking into the Subcontinent for several months, and when the informant had mentioned there’d been a possible theft of Ross property, her governors saw a fortuitous opportunity. She’d been stationed in Wales since mustering out of the SBS; having made her peace with her father’s untimely demise, she felt she owed it to him and herself to return to the other half of her ancestral homeland.
Her Welsh was terrible but she found the climate more amenable to her complexion, and the pace of life significantly slower than the crowded streets of Cape Town. HeRMES was happy to oblige, as they’d needed someone to take up the Welsh region; the office still carried a reputation as a “backwater” even though its economy had been carried forward with the rest of the Union’s. The British crown had claimed the Welsh marshes for nearly as long as it had existed, and even though they’d mined out all the coal years ago, the Union’s industrial backbone still ran through the Brecon Beacons, whether Westminster remembered it or not.
She missed her mother, some days, but the SAR was only a holo away, and she hadn’t left behind any real friends when she’d left. Not that she’d made any here, or in university, or the service. There’d been colleagues and workplace proximate acquaintances; of course she would have, and in fact had, taken a bullet for any of her fellow soldiers. Along the way there’d even been brief affairs and lovers, men and women and whatever in between, but none so serious as to tether her in time or space. No, she was alone here, just herself and the spectre of her father, when she let herself acknowledge it, and that was how she liked it.
Can’t be disappointed if there’s no one to disappoint you, she thought to herself, huddling in the doorway of the station as a light, cold rain fell onto the streets outside. Tightening her coat around her shoulders, she stepped out into the drizzle long enough to jump into the first empty black cab she saw. The detective spoke aloud the address and the cab sped off toward her flat, throwing gentle splashes across the pedestrian walks as it rumbled through the late afternoon storm.
She sat in the car and composed herself after the long day, smoothing the strands of her hair that had come free in the rain and loosening the tie on her uniform. The route from the station took the cab down the A432 passed the dockyards, and she could see several tall Ross crates and containers, the crimson R stenciled prominently, being maneuvered throughout the gantries by the drone lifts, and it gave her an idea. She paged through the contacts list on her mobile, laughing quietly to herself as a particular name scrolled past. Opening a text dialogue, she typed out a message of exactly the type Ratnayaka had cautioned her against. “Flynn: I need a favor.”

three times the strength
trinity friendship, for @renecdote. 💛 T, 4k, hurt/comfort, and just a little more emotional angst than expected.
also available on ao3.
Diana is injured in Gotham City. Bruce and Clark fret and blame themselves.
Bruce: then
Bruce knows fear. He knows how it feels when it settles in his stomach—knows how it feels to strike fear in the hearts of others, too. He is well acquainted with it. He has molded it into an art. He can recognize it as soon as it begins to manifest in widening eyes, quickening heartbeats, twitching fingers flipping a coin between fight and flight.
He knows there’s something wrong as soon as he sets foot in the warehouse.
“Diana,” he says urgently, running to her and dropping to his knees where she lies. She is shaking. He reaches out to touch her shoulder, but she recoils from him, wild-eyed. “Diana, what’s going on?”
A split-second later, he’s connecting with a support beam fifteen feet away. His back hits the wooden post with enough force to bruise (but not to break) and he crumples forward, breath knocked from his lungs. He gasps as he recovers the strength to inhale. “Diana!”
“Do not speak to me!” Diana hisses, towering over him now.
Bruce blinks. “What—”
“You should not be here!”
“Diana.” Bruce keeps his voice calm. “We agreed to meet here after—”
“Liar,” Diana says thunderously. “I have made no such agreements with you. My mother told me that you were not to be trusted. She warned me of your trickery. Do you think me naive? I have spent scores of your years learning of the history of man. You will not find me with my shield down.”
Bruce drags himself back up. In a fight, he’d have recovered his footing already.
(This isn’t a fight. Something has happened to Diana.)
“Stay down.”
Bruce doesn’t, but he lifts his hands in a gesture of surrender. “Diana—what happened?”
“Stay down.” Diana grabs an old broom and snaps the head off in her hands; she jabs the splintered end of the wooden handle at the bat-shaped emblem on Bruce’s chest. Her voice shakes. “If you approach me again, I will not hesitate to stop your heart.”
“Diana,” Bruce repeats, urgency overtaking his calm. “What happened here?”
Diana’s blue eyes narrow into a glare more hateful than Bruce has ever seen on her face. “You dare,” she roars. “She is dead, and you dare to feign ignorance!”
(—she is dead. Pearls clamor across the street in the deafening silence—)
“I was a fool to trust you. I will not make the same mistake again. My mother was right. You do not deserve my help, nor my compassion.”
(—there is no reversing this, there is no way to go back, she’s not breathing, she’s—)
Bruce shakes his head to clear it, but his own heart is pounding now. “I’m—I’m not… Diana, who’s dead?”
His hands are clammy; he clenches them into fists. He needs to know what happened here. He needs to know how he can help, how he can fix this, but—
“Soon, it will be you,” Diana says, and lunges at him.
Clark: now
“This is all my fault,” Clark says, scrubbing his hands through his hair in agitation. Stars twinkle behind him on the other side of the Watchtower’s windows, but he can’t feel the warmth of their light at all. “I shouldn’t even be allowed in here. Bruce, you should tell me to leave. I’m the last person she’ll want to see when she wakes up. I—”
Clark freezes in his chair as Bruce’s hand grasps his shoulder. In the midst of a haze of anxiety, he expects to be pushed away—but Bruce doesn’t let go, and after a moment, Clark takes a deep breath to steady his thoughts.
“Right,” he says, leaning slightly into the pressure of Bruce’s hand. “Right, it’s probably fine. She’ll—she’ll understand. She would have done the same thing in my place.”
“She’s told you as much,” Bruce murmurs. His thumb rubs circles into Clark’s back, and Clark closes his eyes. “On multiple occasions.”
“I know.”
Knowing it was the expected action to take doesn’t alleviate his regret of having taken it.
“She’ll probably be disappointed you didn't get to her sooner,” Bruce says.
Clark grimaces. “Don’t joke about this.”
“Who’s joking?”
“Bruce—”
“Diana will heal, Clark, and she won’t hold her injuries against you.”
Clark cracks open an eye. “And you?”
Bruce looks back at him impassively. “What about me.”
“Well,” Clark says hesitantly, “are you okay? Diana said some stuff that—”
“Diana was under the influence of a mind-altering substance. She didn't mean anything she said to me, nor to you, any more than you meant to break her arms.”
Clark’s eyes shut again. “Oh God,” he says. “Bruce… I saw her face when the bones cracked. She was surprised she could feel that much pain. I’ve known that feeling. The first time I was exposed to Kryptonite, I thought I was going to die.”
“Diana is rational enough to—”
“She was under the influence of a mind-altering substance,” Clark interrupts, parroting Bruce’s own words back at him. “She wasn’t capable of rational thought.”
Bruce’s hand stills on Clark’s shoulder.
“You don’t like the idea of Diana afraid,” Clark says after a moment, because he knows Bruce well enough to make assumptions about what he’s thinking—every so often, anyway. “You’re worried about her, too.”
“Everyone is afraid of something. Diana is no exception.”
“I guess even Amazons fear their own mortality sometimes.”
“No,” Bruce says slowly. “I don’t think that’s it.”
“What, then?” Clark asks, but Bruce lapses into silence, draws both his hands back into his lap, and resumes staring out the window.
Clark chases Bruce’s fingers with his own. They clasp hands quietly, mired in their own thoughts, until J’onn comes to retrieve them.
*
“She is resting,” J’onn says, as he leads Bruce and Clark down the hall to the Watchtower’s medical bay. “She resists most sedatives, but we were able to restrain her until the effects of Scarecrow’s toxin wore off. She put up quite a fight, and even grew weary enough to sleep, although she refused quite ardently at first.”
“Thank you, J’onn,” Clark says gratefully.
J’onn stops at the entrance to the medbay. “You are welcome. Diana is my friend also.” And then: “If she is asleep, please, do not wake her.”
“We won’t,” Clark promises.
He moves toward the bed, Bruce one step behind, and the door closes after them.
There’s only one chair. Bruce and Clark look down at it, and then up at each other. “Go ahead,” Clark says, and Bruce sits in it rather than arguing or going to stand stubbornly in a corner, which takes Clark so much by surprise that he suddenly isn’t sure what to do with himself. He shuffles his feet where he stands—crosses one foot over the other, and then uncrosses them again to stand tall. His arms hang stupidly at his side—the Superman suit has no pockets to shove them into. After a minute, he opts for crossing them in front of his chest.
Bruce doesn’t comment on his behaviour. Bruce isn’t looking at him.
Clark follows Bruce’s tired eyes to Diana’s unconscious form on the bed. Both of her arms are in splints. It’s unnatural to see her restrained. Of course, not even a displaced fracture could stop Diana from fighting if there were good reason to fight. It hadn’t been easy to get her here.
She had once told Clark that she will fight for those who cannot fight for themselves. Clark thinks that he and Bruce would fight for her if she were not able to, but that she would never allow it.
(Perhaps it’s for the best. He isn’t worthy of fighting for her. It’s his fault she’s here at all.)
He wants to look away from her, but he can’t. He shouldn’t, for that matter. He should face the consequences of his actions—the depth of his error, of his failure.
Diana does not sleep peacefully. Her statuesque features are twisted into a light grimace that tugs at her mouth and eyebrows. Underneath her eyelids, her eyes dart from side to side.
Most days, she glows with an inextinguishable fire—fierce and all-consuming, a force of nature. The strength of a god or a sun burns at the heart of her, tempered only by her goodness and grace and her love for all life. Years ago, when they’d first met, Clark had been drawn to that immediately—her strength, her warmth, her heart.
(Her capacity for understanding. Her tireless kindness. Her boundless optimism.)
It isn’t the pallor of her skin that frightens Clark now—rather, it’s concern that her fire has been dimmed. That he was the one to throw the sand makes him sick to his stomach.
He has spent years of his life learning to control his own powers, but it has usually been his senses—his hearing, his vision—that have gotten away from him. He had learned to be gentle—to weave strands of pastry over an apple pie, to mend buttons, to smooth the feathers of a baby bird—before he’d learned to lift tractors and crush stone. Gentleness had come naturally to him.
It’s been over a decade since he’d so wildly underestimated his own strength. It’s dizzying. It’s terrifying. And Diana—
Diana is in pain, and she is in pain because of him.
“I’ll—I’ll be back,” Clark hears himself say over the thunder of his heart, and then he’s wrenching his lead-heavy feet from the floor and all but flying out the medbay doors.
Diana: then
Her heart is in her throat. She has never known it to beat like this—with such fervour, it seems likely to burn out like an overzealous star. She can hear her breath escaping around it, ragged gasps, too loud in the silence of the temple.
(She has never heard such a sound from her own lips, either. The thought speeds her heart even more.)
She clenches her fingers into fists. She cannot comprehend them. They quake like leaves in a thunderstorm, but aspen retains its solid trunk even when assaulted with treacherous winds, and Diana is unstable to her core. The trembling extends from her fingertips up through her arms, her spine, til her vision blurs. Her limbs tingle with an electricity that numbs her senses. Stars spark at the corners of her eyes.
The man lies in the dust where Diana has him pinned. She pushes the mask from his face.
Eyes like shards of ice meet her own. “Diana,” he says again. His voice is terrible and hoarse and it hurts Diana’s head.
He refuses to stop repeating her name.
“I should have killed you,” she says. She doesn’t know why she hasn’t, yet.
Her mother is dead.
Reality seems a very distant place from here. Everything around her unsettles her mind. She thinks that even if she were to kill this man, she would feel nothing at all. Would he bleed? If her hands were red with it, would they cease to tremble?
“Diana… look at me.”
Diana does. Her fingers shake against the beam she presses across his chest to keep him immobilized. It disturbs her, how much he appears to long for her recognition.
He is a stranger to Themyscira. No man is meant to set foot here.
“You speak as if we are friends,” she says, impassioned. “But we are not friends.”
The man closes his eyes and inhales deeply. She can feel his lungs expand beneath her. She presses harder on the beam and he grimaces. It takes all of her self-control not to scream—over and over, dreadful as a banshee—as if despair alone could strike him dead.
If he did not slay her mother, he will know the traitor who did. Guilt seeps from him like water from a cracked barrel, but—
But if it was not him, and she kills him now, then the answers may die with him.
“I will uncover your truth, intruder,” she tells him, with deadly intention.
He opens his eyes again.
(She has lived longer, but life has taken a greater toll on him. There are lines etched into his face at the corners of his eyes and above his serious brows. He is more weary than anyone Diana has known.)
“You already have,” he says.
“Stop.”
“You know me. Diana, goddammit, you know me.”
“Stop,” Diana thunders. She raises the beam again. She doesn’t know what she wants to achieve other than to make him cease talking. She cannot think, cannot slow her mind from its breakspeed pace.
In the moment she hesitates, someone else crashes through the ceiling behind her.
Bruce: now
Bruce has had his share of doubts about Superman. When he’d first emerged in the news, well—Bruce still believes that questioning the motives of a superpowered alien working as a do-gooder in America had been not only the natural instinct to have, but also the prudent one.
Today, however, Clark Kent might harbour more doubts about Superman than Bruce ever has. Clark has proven his heart a hundred times over—has earned Bruce’s trust and good faith more times than Bruce cares to count.
Clark leaves the medbay in such a hurry that a gust of air follows in his wake; Bruce pushes his hair back from where it falls across his forehead.
He knows that the mental burden of harming a friend will weigh heavily on Clark, but he wishes selfishly that Clark had stayed by his side. Bruce can only be in one place at a time. If Clark is not here, then Bruce must choose to be either with Clark, or with Diana—but not with both.
(It is entirely possible that Clark wishes to be alone right now. Regardless of whether or not that is true, however, it would be unconscionable to leave Diana alone and injured in an unfamiliar bed. Bruce will stay with her.)
He sits silently in the chair until the silence grows deep enough to lull him into a sort of peace—heart rate slow, eyes heavy-lidded and threatening to close.
A minute movement makes his head snap back up from where it had slumped, chin tilted down toward his chest.
Diana turns her face to him. Her eyes are open.
“Bruce.”
The sight of her awake overwhelms Bruce’s tenuous inner calm. He reaches for her hands, but—her arms are in splints. He isn’t thinking. His hands freeze for a moment, and then settle against the edge of the bed.
Diana watches his face pensively for a moment. When she turns her gaze from Bruce to the room surrounding them, though, she frowns.
“You’re in the Watchtower,” Bruce tells her quietly.
“I see that,” she says. And then: “I do not recall coming here.”
“I know.”
“What happened?” Diana eyes the splints around her arms. “What circumstances led me here? Bruce… was anyone else hurt? My memories are unclear. Did I—did I cause harm to anyone?”
Bruce feels sick. “No. Of course you didn't. Diana, it wasn’t your fault. You were conducting an investigation in Gotham to help me.”
“I remember this.”
“You were dosed by an airborne toxin developed by Jonathan Crane. The toxin is a powerful hallucinogen. It…” Bruce grimaces. He should have known about Scarecrow’s involvement beforehand. He should have properly equipped her. Her experience in the warehouse, her injury—all his fault. “It made you behave erratically.”
“I tried to kill you,” Diana surmises.
Bruce smiles wryly. “You did try to throw me through a floor.”
“Do not make light of this, Bruce,” Diana says warningly. “Such an attack could be fatal to you. If I were not myself, you would not be safe in my presence.”
Bruce doesn’t answer.
More gently, Diana asks: “Are you injured?”
Bruce’s back and chest are purple with bruising, but nothing is broken. The damage is insignificant compared to Diana’s own injuries.
“No.”
Diana will guess the truth, but she won’t press him. Bruce is comfortable with that.
“I am grateful to know I did not injure you severely,” she says, and sounds it. “But I am curious, also. Why is it I did not succeed?”
Bruce considers the question. Debates how best to explain the events that occurred without laying blame, and without alarming her.
“I had some help.”
Diana’s eyebrows raise in immediate comprehension and she twists to look about her.
“Clark,” she says, urgency deepening her voice.
“He’s here,” Bruce says. “On the Watchtower,” he adds. “He…”
Bruce doesn’t know how to finish that sentence, but Diana understands.
“I hope that he will return soon,” Diana says, resting her head back against the pillow and closing her eyes. “I would like very much to see him.”
Clark: then
“Stop,” Clark says with finality as ceiling debris cascades over his shoulders.
Diana turns on him whip-quick and thrusts a jagged wooden stick at his shoulder. It splinters harmlessly upon contact.
She isn’t okay. Clark had known as soon as it had occurred; he’d heard the unnatural escalation of her heartbeat from across the city.
Diana isn’t okay, and Bruce is in danger, and Clark—
Clark doesn’t know what to do.
“Diana,” Clark says. He attempts to keep a calm and reasonable tone. Diana is still as she regards him with dark eyes, pupils blown wide with terror. “We can talk about this.”
She doesn’t take to that suggestion at all.
“You,” she thunders. She reaches down to where Clark had cracked the floor upon impact and curls her fingers around the unstable concrete. Clark sees it coming, but doesn’t entire manage to evade it it: when Diana heaves up the flooring where he stands, he’s thrown backward. “You—it must have been—” She halts in her tracks and her gaze flickers back to where Bruce is half sitting, half lying on the concrete. “This was because of you.”
“Diana… look at me,” Clark says, letting flight lift him back to his feet.
Diana ignores him. “You,” she repeats, the word a dagger hurled in Bruce’s direction. “You came here, and you brought another. How many more are you hiding in the shadows?” She tenses her fists. “No matter. I will defeat your army, and you with it.”
On the floor, Bruce says nothing.
“When a leader falls,” Diana says, her words taking on a hue of false calm as she bends to lift a section of concrete large enough to crush a human, “his army will fall into disarray. My mother taught me this.”
Bruce still doesn’t move.
Clark tries again.
“Diana. You don’t want to do this.”
“You do not know me!” Diana screams. Muscles in her arms and shoulders strain as she holds the concrete above her head.
Clark inserts himself between her and Bruce, and lifts his hands—an open-palmed, peaceful mimicry of her own pose. “Okay,” he says. “Okay. That’s fine. But—if I don’t know you, then I’d like to. I’d like to talk. I’d also like for you not to squish Batman with a floor.”
Her heartbeat doesn’t calm one iota.
When Diana looks him in the eye, then, Clark knows beyond a doubt that she cannot comprehend reason.
“I think you have talked enough,” she says fiercely.
If words won’t work, then actions must. Clark intercepts the concrete wedge with his own hands as Diana makes to hurl it downward. All that pressure she’d exerted forced back onto her, and—
—and she hadn’t been expecting it, because she’d forgotten what he’s capable of.
Her scream will reverberate in his ears for hours.
Diana: now
Bruce isn’t interested in speaking extensively, but Diana appreciates his quiet company. After many minutes have passed, she pulls her arms free from where they’ve been braced above her and rests them at her sides. She curls her fingers experimentally, and grimaces when jolts of pain spark in her forearms. Bruce’s watchful eyes miss nothing.
“It does not hurt so much,” she tells him, because it’s not more than she can manage, and because she knows that he worries.
Rather than answering, he reaches to take her hand that lies nearest to him. His touch is gentle, his presence solid and real.
Diana appreciates that solidity now. An unnamed discomfort prickles at her thoughts like an itch she cannot reach, but Bruce’s calloused skin is tangible and anchors her to this moment.
The door opens, and they turn in unison to face it.
In the doorway, Clark freezes. His eyes are clouded with anxiety. He will have known that she had woken: his concern leads him to listen for her heart.
“Clark,” she says, a soft greeting she hopes will convey her tenderness toward him.
In return, he smiles at her like he can’t help it. “Hey,” he says.
Diana pats the sheets beside her. “I was telling Bruce not long ago that I would enjoy your company.”
Unhesitantly, Clark crosses the room and sits down lightly on the side of the bed. He sets a bunch of daisies on the bedside table.
“They’re from my mother’s garden,” he says, gesturing to them as though his statement might have been unclear. “Diana—how are you feeling?”
Her arms are sore, but beneath the physical ache there is a hurt she has not yet been able to name.
“I… I am thinking, for some reason, of my mother.” She closes her eyes and pictures kneeling on a dusty temple floor. The image is vivid in her mind, although she has not set foot on the island for many years. “I have not seen her since I left Themyscira.”
If her mother were to die, Diana would not know of it until the hopeless chill of grief drifted across the world’s oceans and settled itself into her heart. It has not touched her yet, but there is nevertheless a sense of loss biting at her heels.
(Loss?
Diana can never return to Themyscira, and there are no other Amazons in Man’s World.
Perhaps it is also loneliness she feels.)
Clark takes her free hand, and Diana looks up at him. He is tangible and real like Bruce, and he radiates a warmth that softens the pain in her bones.
(Diana thinks that Clark has known loneliness like no other, just as Bruce has known tremendous loss. Neither voices their understanding of her, but it is evident nonetheless.
She is very glad to know them and to count them as her greatest friends.)
“I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you woke up,” Clark says finally.
“What happened was my fault,” Bruce says, his voice quiet but certain. “All of this could have been avoided if I had taken a better approach to this investigation.”
“If your ‘better approach’ involves conducting your investigation on your own, I do not wish to hear it,” Diana tells him firmly. “Our mission is filled with many dangers. It is inevitable that on occasion we will feel the effects of those dangers. It does not mean we should not face them. Even more, it does not mean that we should face them alone.”
She pulls herself up into a sitting position. Bruce’s hand finds her shoulder, providing wordless support.
“I do not want for you to blame yourselves,” she continues. “Neither do I want apologies. I will not tell you of my forgiveness because there are no wrongs to forgive. My bones will mend themselves, and I will be no weaker for it. We function as a team. We will learn to overcome our failings together, and when our next challenge is upon us, we will know even greater strength.”
She sees in their faces that neither will argue her point. Good. Diana is confident that she would win, but she does not desire to fight any more today.
Not even with words.
“Is there anything we can do for you?” Clark asks.
Diana wants only for Bruce and Clark to stay at her side, but they know this already. There is need to ask.
That they have offered her this without question fills her heart with affection for both of them.
“I would like a coffee,” she says, “in an hour, perhaps.”
For now, she holds onto their hands and she doesn’t let go.

The Significance Of Proper Vehicle Battery Disposal
Tumblr media
Everybody knows the generic situation where the battery inside a person's vehicle has died, departing them stranded inside a public parking area or along the side of the street. In these instances, an individual simply contacts a buddy, member of the family, or roadside assistance company for help. They'll appear with a brand new battery, take away the old one, and hook everything support back together again. Altering and replacing battery power inside a vehicle is typical understanding for many adults however, knowing how to handle the used battery once its removed isn't.
There are many constituents in the car's battery that enables it to cooperate and performance within vehicles. The components are mainly chemical-based, and could be tremendously hazardous in a variety of aspects. Continue studying to learn to correctly eliminate a second hand vehicle battery, and why safe battery disposal is really vital that you us and our surrounding atmosphere akumulatorite.net.
What's In The Vehicle Battery?
These types of batteries contain several harmful chemicals, materials, and high metals. For example, a typical twelve volt battery contains elements for example lead, plastic, sulfuric acidity, and much more. Diesel engine vehicles, like semi-trucks and tractors, could use a 24 volt system requiring using two twelve volt batteries to function. What this means is double the amount toxins, chemicals, and high metals. These twelve volt batteries are created with lead plates and lead dioxide plates. These plates are submerged within an electrolyte solution comprised of sulfuric acidity and water. Caffeine reaction of these two elements creates electrons that allow them go through conductors, running electricity towards the vehicle's engine and inner components.
Whenever a battery starts to lose its power, for the reason that the acidity inside the electrolyte solution has reacted using the plates, altering them from lead and lead dioxide, to guide sulfate. Once the battery in the vehicle is recharged, this same process is just reversed. Each one of these chemicals which make an automobile's battery function have proven helpful within the automotive world, however they still need be handled responsibility to safeguard ourselves and also the atmosphere from harm. Among the best ways to get this done is as simple as recycling used batteries from cars. It's the best and many responsible approach to vehicle battery disposal.
Batteries Could Be Recycled
One unique facet of batteries is they are nearly completely recyclable. Which means that almost all of a battery's components could be recycled and reused for brand new vehicle batteries. For instance, charge is actually 100 % recyclable and could be melted lower, filtered, and refurbished in new vehicle parts. The plastic components will also be completely recyclable and could be reused in other products. Surprisingly, the sulfuric acidity can also be reused. It may be counteracted and purified to be sold as uncontaminated water, changed into sodium sulfate (for fertilizers, dyes, etc.), or reused in new vehicle batteries.
To recycle a second hand battery, take it to some local automotive repair center. Most garages need used batteries along with other vehicle parts. They may also provide substitute service for you personally when you are there. To be certain, call around in advance to locate a reliable company. Some auto repair centers will get donated or recycled vehicle parts. Other areas to recycle a vehicle battery include scrap metal yards, junk vehicle lots, or junk yards. Recycling these, together with other vehicle parts, is a superb contribution to protecting our atmosphere and preserving our natural sources.

Water Hemlock
(Cicuta spp.)
Family: Apiaceae
Habitat: Temperate climates, usually near rivers and wetlands. Native to: North America Common Names: Cowbane, wild carrot, snakeweed, poison parsnip, false parsley, children’s bane, death-of-man
Widely regarded as one of the most dangerous plants in the United States, water hemlock flourishes in ditches, swamps, and meadows across the country, and its flat, umbrella-shaped clusters of white flowers and lacy foliage resemble that of its more edible relatives like coriander, parsnips, and carrots. In fact, most accidental poisonings from water hemlock come about because people mistakenly believe the roots are edible. Unfortunately, the roots have a slightly sweet taste that might encourage someone to take a second bite.
It only takes a nibble or two to get a lethal dose of the plant’s toxin, cicutoxin. It disrupts the central nervous system, and quickly brings on nausea, vomiting, and seizures. One small bite of the plant’s root, which is its most toxic part, could kill a child.
In the early 1990s two brothers on a hike mistook the plant for wild ginseng. One man took three bites and was dead within a few hours; the other took only one bite and suffered seizures and delirium but recovered after a trip to the emergency room. In the 1930s a number of children were killed after making whistles or blow darts out of the plant’s hollow stems. Children have also mistaken the roots for carrots and gone into convulsions after a few bites.
There were about a hundred cases of water hemlock fatalities in the United States during the twentieth century, although experts believe the actual number is probably much higher because the victims don’t usually survive to report what they ate.
Water hemlock also poses a threat to pets and livestock. Because the plant’s fragrance is not as unpleasant as other poisonous plants, animals are more tempted to graze on it. When mature water hemlock plants are uprooted by tractors, the exposed tap roots can be tempting to hungry animals. Usually the poison works so quickly that animals are near death by the time they’re discovered. A single root is toxic enough to kill a sixteen-hundred-pound cow.
The weed grows to seven feet tall and sports purple splotches on the stem. The fleshy roots produce copious amounts of the poison in the form of a thick, yellowish liquid that oozes out when the roots are cut. The most widespread species is Cicuta maculata.
In the western United States and Canada, C. douglasii thrives in pastures in swamps. It produces unusually thick stems and its flowers are so large and sturdy that they are sometimes picked as cut flowers. This is a very dangerous decorating idea; even a small amount of toxic juice on the hands could find its way into the bloodstream.

Taking The Chill Out Of Raynaud’s Disease
Tumblr media
By Kimberly Wilkes
Raynaud's (pronounced ray-nodes) isn't a disease you hear about very often. Yet, an estimated 28 million people in the U.S.—including 20 percent of all women in their childbearing years—have Raynaud's phenomenon, or Raynaud's syndrome as it's also called. What's more, four out of five people who have the disease suffer without getting medical help for the condition.1
What exactly is Raynaud's phenomenon, who is at risk and how can you reduce the symptoms naturally? Read on to find out.
The Big Chill
Named for a French physician Maurice Raynaud, who first identified the disease in 1862 while he was still a medical student, Raynaud's leaves anyone afflicted with the disorder extremely sensitive to cold temperatures.2 During a Raynaud's attack, smaller arteries that deliver blood to your fingers and toes—and in some cases other areas such as the nose, ears and tongue—narrow when exposed to cold temperatures or emotional stress.3These spasms in the blood vessels decrease circulation. Often, the skin turns white, then blue, then bright red. It's usually painful, too, and a Raynaud's episode also may include numbness, swelling or tingling. Holding a cold drink, reaching into the freezer, stepping into an air-conditioned room or going outside on a cold day all can trigger the attacks, which last anywhere from minutes to hours.
If you have this disease, you can blame the pain and color changes in your skin on a malfunctioning autonomic nervous system. This part of the nervous system oversees bodily functions that you don't consciously control such as breathing, heartbeat and digestion. When the autonomic nervous system isn't working properly, it directs the blood vessels in affected areas such as the fingers and/or toes to constrict, starving those areas of blood supply. Blood delivers oxygen to tissues, so without the proper blood supply, tissues can undergo damage and in severe cases develop gangrene. Over the years, the small arteries feeding your hands, feet, nose and ears may thicken as they pay the price of the ongoing spasms. Not as much blood can flow through these thickened arteries.4
Who's At Risk?
There are two types of Raynaud's syndrome: primary and secondary. The most common form, primary Raynaud's is not associated with any other diseases. Secondary Raynaud's occurs along with other diseases, often autoimmune diseases such as scleroderma, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis. Secondary Raynaud's is usually a more severe form of the disease than primary, has worse symptoms, is more likely to cause tissue damage, and is less likely to respond to treatment.5However, even the primary form can be disabling in some people.6The primary form also usually affects all fingers, whereas in the secondary form only some fingers might suffer from the vessel spasms.7
Risk factors for Raynaud's are different for each form. Women are more likely to develop primary Raynaud's compared to men. Primary Raynaud's also usually develops in people aged 15 to 30 years old, although it can arise at any age. If you live in a colder climate or have a history of the disease your risk also goes up.8
Having an autoimmune disease such as scleroderma, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis is a risk factor for secondary Raynaud's. Unlike primary Raynaud's, secondary most often develops at a more advanced age, usually around 40 years old. If you have a job where you operate tools or machinery that vibrate such as tipping hammers, jackhammers, chain saws and machinery such as tractors, power shovels and bulldozers you're at a greater risk of developing the secondary form of the disease.9Ditto for any activity you perform regularly at home that involves repetitive movements such as typing or playing the piano. People who have carpel tunnel syndrome also are more susceptible.4
In people older than 60, secondary Raynaud's syndrome is often caused by atherosclerosis obstructing the arteries.3 Other arterial disorders such as Buerger's disease, caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the hands and feet, and pulmonary hypertension, which impacts the arteries of the lungs, are also associated with secondary Raynaud's.4
In addition, certain drugs are linked to secondary Raynaud's including the drug OROS-methylphenidate used for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD),10beta-blockers for high blood pressure, migraine medications containing ergotamine or sumatriptan, some chemotherapy drugs and over-the-counter cold medications that narrow blood vessels.4
Finally, other risk factors include smoking, which narrows blood vessels, hand or foot trauma including wrist fractures, surgery or frostbite, hemodialysis for kidney disease and exposure to certain chemicals such as vinyl chloride, a common environmental pollutant.4,11
The Homocysteine Connection
High levels of the amino acid homocysteine are linked to a number of health concerns, including cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's, diabetes and osteoporosis. And now you can add Raynaud's to that list. Levels of this amino acid are typically high in both primary and secondary Raynaud's, even in teenage patients with the disease.12-17
Homocysteine injures the blood vessels in part by producing damaging free radicals, so researchers believe it could play a role in the development of Raynaud's. It also causes blood cells to clump together, interfering with circulation.18
Conventional Treatments
Simply dressing warmer during cold weather, and bundling up the feet and hands in warm socks and gloves is often enough for mild forms of Raynaud's. Conventional doctors will usually treat more severe cases by prescribing the class of blood pressure medications known as calcium channel blockers. These drugs act as vasodilators—in other words, they dilate the blood vessels. However, they can cause side effects such as rapid heartbeat, headaches, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, constipation and swelling in the feet and lower legs.19 Calcium channel blockers are also linked to lesions in the esophagus and gastrointestinal reflux disease (GERD).20
Conventional doctors also may prescribe drugs like prazosin (Minipress®) and doxazosin (Cardura®), which belong to a class of blood pressure medications known as alpha-adrenergicblockers. These drugs help dilate the blood vessels by blocking the action of norepinephrine, a blood-vessel-constricting hormone. However, this class of drugs also has its own share of side effects such as nausea, dizziness, headache, heart palpitations and low blood pressure.7 Another class of blood-vessel-dilating drugs are called prostaglandins. But higher doses can cause headaches, flushing and nausea.7For skin ulcers, nitroglycerin cream is used topically on the base of the fingers. In some people, the cream can cause dizziness, flushing, slow heartbeat, chest pain and fainting.21
In some cases, doctors recommend surgery to remove the nerves around the blood vessels. But this surgery doesn't work for everybody.22  Doctors also may inject anesthetics or Botox into the hands or feet to block the activation of nerves in those areas. This comes with its own set of side effects including swelling or bruising at the injection site, headaches or flu-like symptoms and the possibility that the toxin in the medication may spread to other areas of the body leading to symptoms similar to botulism such as muscle weakness, trouble speaking or swallowing, difficulty breathing and inability to control the bladder.22,23
Natural Support for Raynaud's
If you prefer natural options, there are a number of ways you can improve your circulation and keep yourself warm. Here are some suggestions, based on research and what alternative and integrative doctors have found helpful in their practices.
Circulation-Boosting Socks
The first step is to keep your feet warm. Incredisocks are a special type of foot covering invented by a chiropractor. Incredisocks work as thermoregulators to increase or decrease temperature in the feet. They also improve blood flow, feeding the tissues with enhanced oxygen.24This not only results in greater comfort and reduced swelling in people who are concerned about circulation, it also results in healthier skin tone and color in oxygen-deprived areas.
Incredisocks are made with a blend of bamboo charcoal, used in traditional Chinese medicine to improve circulation, and germanium, which has a long history of use in Japan to support healthy blood flow. When this combination is heated by the body anions are released.  An anion is an ion with more negatively charged electrons than positively charged protons, resulting in a net negative charge. These anions increase blood flow and nourish tissues with oxygen—the same process that occurs when a physical therapist uses infrared on an injured knee or body part. Although infrared exposes injured areas to negative ions for only a short time, the circulation socks constantly bathe the feet in these beneficial anions for as long as the socks are worn.
The improved circulation that occurs after anions are generated results in more oxygen being supplied to local tissues. Combined with the increase in blood flow, this allows the body to regulate temperature much easier. Thermographic image testing comparing regular socks to Incredisocks shows that the maximum area temperature of feet not wearing Incredisock was 29.4 degrees while the maximum area temperature of feet wearing Incredisock was 32.6 degrees.25
Acupuncture
There's a mixed bag of research on whether or not acupuncture can help people with Raynaud's. But one study indicates it's something worth looking into to see if it works for you. The controlled, randomized study investigated the effects of acupuncture on patients with primary Raynaud's syndrome for 23 weeks in winter. Seventeen patients were given seven acupuncture treatments during weeks 10 and 11 of the study and compared to 16 controls. Throughout the study, subjects noted in a diary every day whether they had experienced an attack, how long the attack lasted and how severe it was. In the acupuncture-treated subjects, there was a significant drop in the number of attacks experienced per day. The patients undergoing acupuncture also experienced other improvements in their blood flow.26
The study authors concluded, "These findings suggest that traditional Chinese acupuncture is a reasonable alternative in treating patients with primary Raynaud'ssyndrome."
Control Your Stress
Relaxation techniques can help Raynaud's patients chill out in more ways than one. Stress can trigger Raynaud's attacks so it's a good idea to find ways to cope with stress. One option is biofeedback, a mind-body technique that shows you how to control your autonomic nervous system. One randomized study investigated biofeedback in patients who had secondary Raynaud's together with systemic sclerosis. Eight Raynaud's patients participated in biofeedback three times a week for four weeks and experienced reduced scores for disease severity.27
In one review of the medical literature, scientists concluded that thermal biofeedback is effective in reducing the severity and frequency of Raynaud's attacks. The scientists came to this conclusion after reviewing a number of studies, including three randomized controlled trials performed in independent laboratories.28
Basically, anything you can do to reduce or manage your stress, including meditation, not pushing yourself too hard at work or deep-breathing exercises can help keep the Raynaud's attacks at bay.
Hyperbaric Oxygen
In this type of therapy, patients inhale oxygen while in a chamber. Because the tissues of Raynaud's patients are starved of oxygen, it makes sense that a therapy that can boost oxygen levels may reduce symptoms.29,30In one study, researchers treated six women between the ages of 46 and 71 with two, two-hour daily sessions of hyperbaric oxygen for 10 to 14 days. The hyperbaric oxygen not only improved the Raynaud's symptoms—the improvement lasted for more than a month after the treatments ended.30 Alternative practitioners report good success using this type of therapy.
A Circulation-Boosting Botanical
If you want to use nutritional supplements to improve circulation, one of your best bets is Ginkgo biloba, which supports healthy blood flow. A couple of trials show it may help people who have Raynaud's. In one of those studies, even though Ginkgo wasn't as effective as a standard drug, when researchers gave Ginkgo to primary Raynaud's patients for eight weeks, 31 percent of the patients improved.31
In another study, researchers randomly assigned primary Raynaud's patients to receive either Ginkgo bilobaextract or a placebo for 10 weeks. Both before and during the study, the subjects recorded how often the attacks occurred, their severity and how long they lasted. Subjects taking the Ginkgo experienced significantly less attacks down from an average of 13.2 per week to 5.8 per week. There were 56 percent less attacks in ginkgo group and only 27 percent less in the placebo group.32
Homocysteine-Lowering Vitamins
As mentioned earlier in this article, high homocysteine levels are linked to Raynaud's. When your body is deficient in folate, vitamin B12 and vitamin B6, it's not able to easily breakdown homocysteine, leading to high levels of this amino acid. People who have primary Raynaud's syndrome have lower levels of folate.13
To keep homocysteine from building up in the body, it's a good idea to take a good B-complex vitamin, ideally one that contains 5-MTHF, a more bioavailable form of the vitamin.
Help from the Sea
Fish oil protects the blood vessels of Raynaud's patients against low oxygen. In one double-blind, placebo-controlled study in 32 patients with primary or secondary Raynaud's, researchers gave subjects every day either an olive oil placebo or 12 fish oil capsules, which contained a total of 3.96 g eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and 2.64 g docosahexaenoic acid (DHA). The researchers evaluated the effects of the fish oil at six, 12 and 17 weeks by measuring the systolic blood pressures and blood flow in the fingers of the subjects at room temperature and in cold water baths. The study authors also timed how long it took for the patients to have a Raynaud's attack after exposure to the cold water.
In the fish oil group, it took longer to have a Raynaud's attack. Prior to supplementing with the fish oil, it took about 31.3 minutes for the subjects to have an attack. After taking the fish oil for six weeks, that time increased to 46.5 minutes. Subjects with the primary form of the disease who took fish oil capsules had the largest increase in the amount of time to an attack compared to patients with the secondary form. In fact, five of 11 patients with primary Raynaud's who took the fish oil capsules no longer had Raynaud's attacks beginning at six or 12 weeks into the study compared to 1 of 9 patients in the olive oil group.33
According to the study authors, "We conclude that the ingestion of fish oil improves tolerance to cold exposure and delays the onset of vasospasm in patients with primary, but not secondary, Raynaud'sphenomenon."
New Use for the Sunshine Vitamin
Vitamin D is another nutrient no Raynaud's patient may want to do without. Researchers have found many Raynaud's patients suffer from vitamin D deficiency. What's more, supplementing with this vitamin may actually improve symptoms. A recent randomized, placebo-controlled study investigated the effects of giving Raynaud's patients 600,000 IU of vitamin D3 per month for two months in the winter. The researchers randomly divided 42 patients deficient in vitamin D into two groups. One group received the vitamin D, the other group received a placebo. The patients receiving the vitamin D3 experienced an increase in their vitamin D levels and an improvement in their Raynaud's symptoms.34
Adding to the evidence that vitamin D deficiency may play a role in Raynaud's is the finding that as many as 80 percent of people with systemic sclerosis are deficient in Vitamin D.35
Raising Nitric Oxide
Nitric oxide is one of the chemicals in your body responsible for dilating blood vessels. However, in secondary Raynaud's, nitric oxide levels are low.7
When trying to boost nitric oxide levels, one good choice is the supplement L-arginine. A couple of medical journal articles have reported upon L-arginine's benefits in people who have secondary Raynaud's. One group of researchers reported uponfour cases in which  L-arginine supplementsimproved symptoms in patients with severe Raynaud's, including reversing the death of tissue.36
In another study, patients with secondary Raynaud's who also had systemic sclerosis, experienced several improvements after taking L-arginine including increased dilation of the blood vessels in their fingers and higher levels of tissue-type plasminogen activator, a protein that helps break down blood clots.37
Boost Circulation, Warm Your Cold Hands and Feet
Improving blood flow and lowering emotional stress—or finding effective ways to cope with it—can reduce the number of Raynaud's attacks. Acupuncture, biofeedback and hyperbaric oxygen therapy may all help replenish oxygen-starved tissues while certain botanicals, vitamins and nutrients can give your blood vessels a helping hand.

4 and 6 for AK Jon! :))
I started answering these for comic Jon before I realized you wanted an AK Headcanon, I didn’t want to erase all my writing so I just made the responses extra long. I hope that’s okay! I’m sorry for the mistake~
Driving headcanon: Back when he lived in Georgia, Jonathan used to drive around his tiny town in a big green tractor. He didn’t actually have a license or permit to drive it, but it was such a small town that nobody seemed to care.
On that note, he never actually got his driver license, even after he came to Gotham he didn’t see much of a need for it. He’s a criminal, and if he wants a car he’ll procure one from the streets of through the black market. Although, Jonathan much prefers to ride his motorcycle, there’s something extra thrilling about it. The first time he rode was was back in the day when he stole a bike from Huntress, and he’s loved the adrenaline rush ever sense.
In Arkham Knight, Jonathan gets everywhere via underground tunnels, so he doesn’t actually drive anywhere, and thanks to his leg injuries he can’t ride a motorcycle anymore, it’s something he misses greatly. His goons also offer to drive him places, in actuality they’re “persuaded” with a injection of fear toxin is they don’t do as he says. They usually comply. ;)
Hugging headcanon: Jonathan never got hugs as a child, so he’s not used to that kind of affection, just the idea of giving a hug makes him apprehensive.
The only person he’s ever embraced is Harley Quinn, it was an awkward one armed hug that was a tad too short for Harley’s tastes. She would remedy this by puling him into a much warmer embrace, making sure both their arms wrapped around each other. He wouldn’t outright admit this, but he did like the feeling of being hugged.
Arkham Knight Jonathan is different, he is detached from reality and only seeks vengeance for his suffering. He does not want affection, he wants only revenge. He would not hug, he would choke. Do not get close to him, for if you even so much as try to embrace the Lord of Fear, he’ll take your actions as an invitation to inject you with his newest batch of fear toxin. I know that’s a darker take on the headcanon, but I honestly think he’s far too gone, this is not the Jonathan Crane you once knew, this is a monster.

Brazil: Mudslide death toll reaches 105, dozes missing (AP)
“Rio de Janeiro state’s government has confirmed 105 deaths from floods and mudslides that swept away homes and cars in the city of Petropolis. But even as families prepared to bury their dead, it was unclear Thursday how many bodies remained trapped in the mud.”
India: 13 dead after falling into well in Kushinagar (BBC)
“At least 13 people have died after falling into a well during a wedding ceremony in the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. Two more people have been injured in the accident, which took place in Kushinagar district.”
Greece: Farm protests are a sign of Europe’s inflation anxiety (AP)
“In Greece’s rural heartland, tractors have become a symbol of anxiety. For weeks, they have been parked along the country’s highways, their owners threatening to block traffic. Farmers are desperate for additional financial aid to cope with surging energy prices that are pushing up their costs for fuel and fertilizer, posing a sudden threat to their livelihoods.”
US NEWS
Ukraine: US claims Russia coud stage reason to invade (BBC)
“US President Joe Biden has warned that Russia is trying to engineer a pretext to invade Ukraine, and that the threat of an attack is "very high.” Moscow has called the claims "baseless" and has released a strongly worded letter saying Washington is ignoring its security demands and threatening "military-technical measures.” Russia has insisted it is moving troops away from the Ukrainian border, but new satellite images show wide-scale Russian military activity persists close to Ukraine's borders.”
Covid: Estimated 73% of US now immune to omicron (AP)
“The omicron wave that assaulted the United States this winter also bolstered its defenses, leaving enough protection against the coronavirus that future spikes will likely require much less — if any — dramatic disruption to society. Millions of individual Americans’ immune systems now recognize the virus and are primed to fight it off if they encounter omicron, or even another variant.”
Infrastructure: Biden’s plan gives $1B for Great Lakes cleanup (AP)
“President Joe Biden declared Thursday that a $1 billion infusion from the bipartisan infrastructure deal would restore the Great Lakes harbors and tributary rivers that have been polluted by industrial toxins. The president ventured close to the banks of Lake Erie to speak in Lorain, Ohio, a small city that once housed a shipbuilder, a Ford plant and a U.S. Steel factory and is now adapting to a post-industrial economy.”

Farms Friend:Supplying Fresh Organic Farm Product in New Jersey
There has been a rapids growth in the population, which has given rise to an increase in demand for food. To fulfill this ever-increasing demand, chemicals are used in farming. The introduction of chemical fertilizers and pesticides increased the yield per hectare; however, the agricultural products are not only harmful to health, but it decreases the overall fertility of the soil.
These pesticides and other toxins, which are used in growing farm products can create health risks and cause behavioral problems, disrupted hormone function, autism, and cancer. No wonder, many people are marveling at products grown by organic farming.
