Toxic friendship my beloved. I can't wait for Taeho and Inha's relationship to go off the rails. I mean we've got this perfect set-up.
(My 2 cents no one asked for about why their weird friendship WILL go wrong - and not just because of Hyewon - under the cut).
Taeho's tricky promise
Taeho promised to give Inha "everything he wants" as long as Inha lets Taeho use him as a golden rope to reach the "major leagues". Taeho then said, "We just have to decide what we want to do", and I guess they decided they wanted to make Inha Kangoh group's CEO. But!
Is becoming CEO "everything Inha wants" ? What if there's something else ? Will he expect Taeho to give him that too ?
Matter of fact, what if that promise is the reason Inha went for Hyewon without holding back even though he knew Taeho liked her? Maybe he wanted her - or decided he did... - and felt it was his right to go for it because of that promise?
Why does Inha seem okay with not having a clear idea of what Taeho is getting out of doing all that for him? Oh wait, he isn't! Cue the next point.
Han "I only exist for you" Taeho
Why would Taeho even say that LOL. I mean don't get me wrong, him telling Inha something so intense had my imagination juices flowing, but. It's obviously not true. Taeho didn't enter this deal out of affection for Inha. He himself called it an "economic proposition".
The only reason he'd answer that to Inha's question - "what do you desperately want" - would be to conceal the truth. Which is? The easy answer is Hyewon, and I'm sure that's part of it, though it's unclear how much Taeho's feelings for her have changed or not after 10 years. But would it really be it? I don't think so. If the only thing Taeho wanted was Hyewon, he'd have opened that door back when she tried to pick him 10 years prior - but he didn't.
Inha's anger
In episode 3/4, Inha seems angry at Taeho (re: when they think their plan might fail, and then the beach). And I wondered why that was, but it's obvious.
Taeho's cockiness
Inha's probably pissed about how cocky Taeho has been acting, and even more pissed about the fact that he can't shut him down because Taeho is, in fact, good at what he does.
Does Inha have an inferiority complex ?
Think about how their relationship started - Inha feeling judged and embarrassed while Taeho dished out life lessons, Inha asking for friendship then getting rejected only to be presented with an "economic proposition".
And the dynamic never changed, Inha constantly receiving things from Taeho. No matter how strong the affection was, Inha having a chef cook a meal for Taeho's birthday with money he didn't earn or Inha giving Taeho rides is nothing compared to Taeho getting him into a great uni and getting him closer to his dad/the CEO position, laying out a whole plan Inha just has to follow. Or at least he wouldn't see those as equivalent (and I doubt Taeho would, either).
Is Inha jealous of Taeho's place in his father's life ?
Inha clearly hoped his father would want him - remember his disappointment when he was made to leave his father's house before dinner that one time. He was even more hurt when Taeho explained his father must have called him to the house just to bother his wife. And hurt AGAIN when he found out it wasn't even his dad's idea, but his sister.
Yet he doesn't get to properly meet his father face to face until episode 4, while his more competent friend has been the chairman's right hand man for 5 years. That's gotta sting.
Inha isn't dumb
Highschool Inha knew nothing so he probably thought the terms of his deal with Taeho made sense.
Yet as they grew up, Inha must have realized at some point that something was off. That Taeho is clearly brilliant and savvy enough to get a great job in any big company and become a key player. That he hasn't needed Inha to get him into Kangoh or anywhere else. Taeho has yet to use Inha as a rope, which means he has yet to collect his payment.
Except Inha doesn't know what Taeho wants! He knows he said he wanted to "play in the major leagues", but that's so vague it barely means anything. He knows he may still want Hyewon, but Taeho can't have her AND honor his deal with Inha. Clearly so far, he's picking Inha.
So what does he want? And most importantly - why can't he tell Inha about it?
Of course we know it probably has to do with Taeho's parents and why he can't share that secret. But if I was Inha, I'd feel nervous, suspicious and powerless. Of course he's angry.
And then there's Hyweon. Gosh I can't wait. It probably won't be like I want it to be but I hope it's intense.

[Dreamling Week 2023] June 7th

June 4th - June 5th - June 6th
MASTERLIST

JUNE 7th – EPISODE 6 CONTINUATION
It was his birthday and their first anniversary and Hob was on a cloud. Morpheus was still sleeping and Hob couldn’t help but to look at him, still unsure how he got to snatch this amazing creature for himself. He remembered how it started. More precisely, how it started again.
7th June 2021 – The New Inn
Hob was grading papers, sitting at his table, when he felt someone stopping by. He lifted his eyes from the papers to look at the intruder and couldn’t believe his eyes. His Stranger! Here! Finally!
“You’re late”
“It seems I owe you an apology. I’ve always heard it impolite to keep one’s friends waiting.”
Ah! He knew it! His Stranger sat, facing him and smiled. Wow! Being called friend and a smile! What a day!
“I’m so happy to see you again, my friend. Please, let me put these in my bag and we can talk all you want! Do you believe I’m a teacher now? History, at the University nearby. I love my students and I love teaching, it’s very rewarding. Until the exams, that is. Then it’s hell on Earth. And the weird dreams about my teenage self noticing that he forget his pants in the middle of the highschool. I mean… I obviously went to University to study but as an adult. I barely had an education before our 2nd meeting. I don’t know why I dream about this!”
“You always have been clever, Hob. Now that you have the means to the end, it shows. I don’t know why you had these dreams but maybe it’s to catch-up what you missed back then…”
“Don’t laugh. I know you’re laughing inside. My dreams were really weird this past century. They felt like… They felt like children hiding behind a curtain or under a bed. They were too many of them for the spot they’re hiding in but they make it work somehow. Bah… Don’t listen to my nonsense.”
“It is not nonsense, Hob. Maybe I should introduce myself better. I’m Dream of the Endless, King of Dreams and Nightmares and I think some of my subjects found solace in your presence.”
“Oh! S’ppose you want them back? Unless they’re already back?”
“Did you feel them at home only? We can go check, if you want?”
“Well, that’s not far away.”
And indeed, it wasn’t very far. Hob brought him to the first floor.
“When I renovated the Inn, I took the two rooms over the kitchen and made a little, cosy studio for me. That was my first rehabilitation works here, so I could be certain to not miss you when you come back.”
“Did you have so much faith I would be back?”
“I hoped. I hoped it would be sooner than later but I knew you would be back, one day.”
Once in Hob’s home, Dream felt indeed little dreams and nightmares all over the place. They appeared in front of Hob, rejoicing that Dream was back.
It took a whole year for Hob to draw the courage to ask Dream for a date. He wanted it to be perfect.
Back to the present – The cottage
“What are you thinking about, beloved?”
“When you came back, at the New Inn. It was the best birthday present you could gave me.”
Morpheus kissed him lovingly and sweetly.
“I do hope you will like this one.”
He got up and went to the wardrobe. He came back with a little box. Hob sat on the bed, an expression of surprise on his face.
“Morpheus?”
“My beloved, my best friend, I’m not an easy person to be with but you know my flaws and still love me.” He opened the box. “Will you marry me?”
The summer sun at his zenith was pale in comparison of Hob’s smile.
“Yes!”
This was the best birthday ever.

Betty (Greeting her lover): Hello my dear! How have you been?
Leod: Hello Mrs. Goldstein! I mean Betty haha, how have you been?
Betty: A little tired from work, and also that a nephew of mine has just moved in with Catherine and me. And how have you been?
Leod (Smiling): Very good! But Betty, there's something I have to tell you.
Betty (confused): What happened honey?
At that moment Leod kneels, taking out a box with an engagement ring, surprising the older woman.
Leod: Betty, will you marry me?
That shocked Betty, who couldn't believe it, her dream of her was coming true!
Betty (grabbing the ring): Of course, my love!
Two days later
Tumblr media
It was a Tuesday, at the future couple's farm, there was a small wedding ceremony and several guests, some were happy about everything, while others (ehem Catherine ehem) were too sad about all that act.
Rose (Excited): They make a nice couple!! The truth is that I haven't seen Leod so excited for a long time!
Stella (Bored, because she hated every detail of the farm): Oh... How cute...
Betty (Smiling as she placed a ring on Leod's hand): I swear to love you all my life Leod!
Tumblr media
Leod (With much emotion): I also swear to love you forever, Betty!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At that moment the two kissed tenderly, causing Catherine to have to run to her house, since she could not bear the pain of seeing the love of her life with someone else.
Jason (grabbing a bottle to toast): Congratulations Mrs. Betty and Leod!! We are very happy for your wedding!!
Tumblr media
All (Toasting the newlyweds): Long live the happy marriage!!
While everyone was celebrating, Betty and Leod were eating some of the wedding cake.
Leod: This cake is delicious dear!
Tumblr media
Betty (Smiling): Catherine helped me with the number of a bakery in Bluewater Village! They make delicious desserts!
Gabe (Stroking Marksim): Do you remember our wedding darling?
Tumblr media
Marksim (Hugging Gabe): Yes, my husband! It was so wonderful! I even remember Aldric, Rose and Jason getting drunk haha!
Leod (approaching his friend Gabe): Hey Gabe, thanks so much for coming, and you too Marksim! I wouldn't know what to do without you guys.
Gabe: Don't worry Leod, I hope you're very happy with your wife!
Meanwhile in Pleasantview
Broke family home
Brandi Broke had been widowed 1 year ago, when her husband, Skip Broke, had an accident in the house's pool... he had traumatized the young woman and her eldest son Dustin too much. Since then, Brandi has stayed at home, taking care of Dustin and little Beau, but she has also realized that she is pregnant for the 3rd time, will that baby grow up in a much better place or not?
Brandi (holding Beau): Well Beau, it's about time you started using the potty! You'll be 4 soon!
Tumblr media
Beau: Y-Yes Mommy
Tumblr media
The woman placed her son on the urinal and noticed that her son already knew how to use it, which excited her. So she took the opportunity to clean the house a bit and distract herself. At night, Brandi had removed her makeup and put on her pajamas (Showing some dark circles that she had, due to her not sleeping well for a few weeks), she was watching the nightly news
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Reporter: "And in other news!, the little prince of the Capp family: Kent Capp will celebrate his 12th birthday on Saturday, it is rumored that the party will be private, due to which no butler in the family has confirmed anything.. "
At that moment someone knocked on the door, surprising Brandi, because it was a very strange time for visitors.
Tumblr media
Brandi (Confused): Who is ?
Randall (Waving): Hi Brandi! Sorry to bother you, but I came to visit you.
Professor Randall West, was a friend of hers, who helped her with some things around her house, and she also helped him by doing some other paperwork.
Brandi: Hi Randall, I hope you're ok!...sorry for my dark circles haha.
Randall (smiling): Don't worry hehe! By the way you look very pretty!
Tumblr media
Brandi blushed a little and began to play along with her friend.
Tumblr media
Brandi (flirting): thank you very much, you also look very handsome today!
The two kept talking and throwing some flirtation into the conversation.

Happy Birthday Winter!
Hey @winterpower98 it's your birthday! I really hope you enjoy this, I know I had a ton of fun writing it for you! Actor AU is one of my favorite AUs you've made and coming back to play around with it again was a blast and a half!
Painter MK cackled, taking the brushes filled with bright pink paint into his fists.
“Yes, yes!” He exclaimed, brushing them against his cheeks and bringing another to run up the center of his face. “The art is-OW! OW, THE ART IS IN MY EYE!”
“Cut!” The director yelled, bringing the entire film production to a halt in an instant. “Xiaotian, what happened?”
The young actor dropped the paintbrushes into the hands of a stage worker to rushed over to help him, one hand covering his right eye as he tried to keep himself from laughing. “I think some of it splashed when I waved the brush at my face. I guess the art really IS-”
“Don’t say it,” Heshang said from the other side of the set, doing his best not to join his co-star in laughter.
“-seeping into my pores!”
The entire cast and crew groaned as Xiaotian cackled again, with a few added ows, before another stage hand came by with a bottle of water.
~3…2…1~
“Uh…” Xiaojiao pulled, attempting to pull the prop sword from above her head out of the wall only to be met with… a lot more resistance than should probably be there. “UH…? It’s stuck?”
She stood, attempting to pull it out normally only to be met with just as much resistance.
“It’s stuck!” She laughed, out, bracing a foot on the wall with no change.
“Let me try,” General Ironclad, or rather Red in the costume of General Ironclad for the episode, offered, attempting to do the same with the exact same result as his co-star. “What did you use to hold this in place? Cement!?”
“It should have only been stuck in with force!” A stage hand yelled as Xiaotian and Heshang joined in, both failing to pull the sword out from the false wall and Heshang nearly toppling over backwards with his additional costume pieces.
“Whoever stuck that in there needs to be moved to making sure the safety equipment stays connected!” Xiaotian offered, watching as even more people tried to remove the sword. “That is not coming out.”
~3…2…1~
Heshang held Mo in his arms, waltzing around the set as he waited for places to be called for with the shockingly content feline in his arms.
~3…2…1~
“You are selling beautiful vegetables today?” Pigsy said, leaning over the the display to give an awkward smile to the disguised Spider Queen.
Tang looked over the produce from where he knelt, looking back up at his companion with a concerned and confused look. “Are you… a-are-PFT-FUCK.”
Everyone on set burst into laughter as Tang did, both of his fellow actors holding back from laughing themselves.
“Why is it this line!?” Tang yelled in frustration as he continued laughing. “It’s not a hard line! I wrote this line! Why do I keep laughing at the last word!?”
“Maybe if Ganglie wasn’t making goo-goo eyes at me you’d keep straight face,” Zhi-Zhu Jing managed to get out through her laughter.
“That’d be the only thing straight about me.”
~3…2…1~
Dicky Cheung, or the actual Sun Wukong disguised as a human actor in full costume of himself, took a running leap and jumped onto the counter of Pigsy’s noodles, sliding to a perfect stop with a wink toward the camera.
~3…2…1~
“MK, there’s something I wanted to tell you…” Mei said, looking at MK with sparkles in her eyes before snickering. “Stop looking at me like that, it’s hard enough to keep a straight face during this scene!”
“Sorry!” Xiaotian yelled to the camera. “I can’t help it! How are Jin and Yin this wrong about these two in the show?”
“Himbos!” was the shouted answer from Tang at the other end of the set.
~3…2…1~
“One of the rare talents that no one knew the great Sun Wukong possessed…” Xiaojiao said ominously, camera panning over to Mr. Cheung in full costume. “Surprisingly good peach juggling!”
“Gotta keep myself occupied somehow!” The actor laughed out, catching two peaches in either hand while the last one was caught perfectly in his mouth to the applause of everyone watching.
~3…2…1~
“Thanks for the Key los-AH!”
Red flung his arms wildly, key flying into the air as Tie Shan rushed forward and caught him just before he face planted into the ground.
“Mine!” Mr. Cheung yelled as he caught the key mid air and rushed through the frame.
“YOU’RE NOT EVEN IN THIS EPISODE!”
~3…2…1~
“Thank you… for giving me all o-ooh, whoa!” Lui Er Mihou, or unbeknownst to nearly all Six-Eared Macaque in disguise much the same way as Sun Wukong was, yelped as the cable that was supposed to gently raise him and make him look like he was floating yoinked him as good 4 feet off the ground way too fast. “That’s too much power!”
“SORRY!” The line operator shouted, fiddling with the controls. “Someone loaded the weight setting for Xiaotian into your line instead of yours.”
“I already feel bad enough treating him like garbage and beating him up in this role, this is just rubbing salt in the wound,” Liu Er muttered, leaning back and swinging limply much to the amusement of everyone who couldn’t hear him before raising his voice. “When will my beloved friend Sun Wukong come to rescue me?”
“SPEAK MY NAME AND I SHALL APPEAR!”
Liu Er yelped in surprise as Mr. Cheung rushed in and grabbed him from beneath to hold him bridal style with a shit eating grin. He couldn't help the flush on his cheeks in response.
“HOW DO YOU KEEP SHOWING UP IN SHOTS WHEN YOU AREN’T SUPPOSED TO BE THERE YET!?” The director yelled with more than a little amusement in his voice despite the disruption.
~3…2…1~
“You!” DBK said, rounding on Red Son. “You have brought me nothing but failure! Time and time again! I keep telling you I… shit, I can’t remember the next line when you look that sad, I am so sorry.”
“Nothing but disappointment?” Red offered helpfully, immediately breaking out of his downcast somber gaze to the floor with a wide smile.
“It is scary how fast you get in and out of character sometimes, kid,” Niu Mowang laughed out, clearly resisting the urge to ruffle the younger actor’s hair lest he ruin the styling job that took far too long every time they got dressed.
~3…2…1~
The White Bone Spirit stood at the entrance to the Silken Web Cave, looking at the camera before far too much time passed from when she was supposed to say he line. She moon walked backwards out of the frame without changing her expression one bit as the other actors devolved into cackles.
~3…2…1~
“The Year of the Spider starts tonight!” Spider Queen proclaimed from her high vantage point before she muttered something under her breathe, narrowing her gaze and then looking off to the side. “Or next year ‘cause I don’t remember my line.”
~3…2…1~
Huntsman slowly lowered into frame, upside down and gripping the rigging holding him up like Spiderman.
~3…2…1~
“Oh yeah?” Sun Wukong said, appearing in frame as he walked down the wall MK was embedded in. He grabbed his staff, yanking it out of the wall and jumped down and smacked the wall with it.
… only for it to go through the wall once again and crack it. Or, rather, the false wall that was on a tilted angle to make it look like he was talking down it, rather than a heavily slanted floor.
“I’m sorry!” Mr. Cheung yelled, looking at the damage he caused. “I must have hit at weak spot!”
He hoped no one noticed that when MK offered to get the prop staff for this shot and put it into the wall… he grabbed the real one by accident.
~3…2…1~
Nui Mowang held the little bird that was Wukong’s transformation stand in for one of the final scenes, gently petting the little head with a big goofy smile on his face.
~END~
The entire cast sat around on various travel tables right outside the small Lunar New Year Festival set they had set up, various extras that had answered the open invitation for the shoot going about and getting the free food that was available at the functional stalls provided by the catering they had hired.
It was an odd sight to see Red Son and Spider Queen and Sun Wukong and everyone else sitting around together, but Liu Er Mihou being there outside of his Macaque costume broke the illusion a little bit.
It was the final day of shooting for the season 2 opening special to Monkie Kid, Revenge of the Spider Queen, and everyone was there. Even people who didn’t have to come in wanted to give a temporary farewell to Tie Shan, Nui Mowang, and Red before season 2 proper began shooting. There was still a chance they could bebcalled in for bit roles, the scripts weren’t entirely finished yet, but as far as anyone knew the Demon Bull Family wasn’t going to be returning properly any time soon.
Maybe in season 3, Tang had teased, holding the begun scripts for that in his little tablet away from prying eyes. And they were always welcome to help out in bit roles, background characters or voice over or to use their other talents to work other jobs that were needed around the set.
But even before then it would be a while.
And so that’s how Red found himself sandwiched between Long Xiaojiao and Qi Xiaotian, with the newly added member of their quartet in her full White Bone Spirit costume hanging over his shoulder to watch the compilation that Xiaojiao had expertly edited on her phone for them all.
“The director gave me permission to use whatever I wanted and I though that… maybe we could all have it for ourselves,” Xiaojiao offered, pulling up the wireless transfer option on her phone. “To watch when we miss each other being on set together. I know we’re going to probably be back together with Red Son eventually! But…”
“I’ll miss shooting with you too,” Red said smiling softly as he pulled out his own phone to accept the file. “Hopefully Mr. Tang isn’t just teasing us about season 3.”

Surprise!
Inseong  x female reader
Summary: Inseong planned a spicy surprise for his girlfriend.
Genre: fluffy smut
Words: 1k
Warnings: mentions of edging.
Sorry for any spelling or grammatical mistakes that you find.
Special note: this is actually a birthday gift to my beloved friend, Blue @inseongsfoxybae. Happy birthday one more time!!
Tumblr media
Based on his messages you expected him to be waiting for you in your place with a gift. It could be flowers, a cute piece of clothes… But you would rather like it to be something to eat! You replied with a bunch of colorful hearts and said you were eager, then received one of those cozy smileys with hearts back. On your way home, you could not help soft bounces of excitement.
Inseong was given the keys to your house a week before, as a sign that you both were in an established relationship. He put your keys with his and kept looking to the way they looked together hanging in by the hoop around his finger. He was so obvious, so proud of being your boyfriend. Now the guy enjoyed his new privilege to enter your house and make you rush your return just to see him.
“Seongie?” you call right after the door was pushed open. “Oh, where are you, love?” The couch was empty, so maybe he was waiting for you in your bedroom. It was not so clean and organized as you would like to have left it to receive him, but this house was a bit his now too. Therefore you should not worry too much.
You quickly crossed the living room and headed to the corridor, “Baby, I’m coming!”A silly smile flooding your face. The way your expression suddenly changed to give its place to a surprised look must be everything Inseong anticipated because his question was immediate:
“Is that something wrong?” The irony on that interrogation was so provocative, but to be honest, everything in that sight was a dare.
Your boyfriend was laying on your bed leaning back on his elbows, his legs spread out, body completely exposed, and you could not revolve your eyes from his erect member. He blinked looking forward to any answer from you, amused by your loss of words. He succeeded at his mission.
“Wh- why… are you like this?”
“like what?” he asked back. His eyes luminous like a perfect spring day, which actually was a sign of brazenness.
“Inseong, you’re naked” you said like it was not evident, you said it to convince your brain.
It was not like you had never seen him without clothes, but it was unpredicted even coming from him. He used to ask before leading to sexual activities, he usually got sure that you wanted to keep going every time, he even used to get disconcerted in those episodes when you accidentally felt his hard-on in the middle of an "innocent" make-out session. After being together for a consistent amount of time, some changes and progress regarding the way you feel around one another would be natural. But the view from your doorframe was more than you could expect.
“I don’t need clothes for my today’s plans” He explained with a straight face.
You could feel your own expression changing as you recognized your boyfriend in this curious gift. In fact, it was a Kim Inseong’s type of surprise.
“Do you think you need yours?” he asked with a clue of concern behind his bold posture.
The tension that hit your shoulders shortly before when you entered the room now was just a fading memory. You raised one eyebrow and responded “My clothes? I don’t think so” You made the few steps towards him and kneeled on the available space between his thighs. “Please, help me getting rid of them.”
He promptly lifted his torso and brought his face close to yours, staring into your eyes with affection yet some lust. He collected your lips with his while his hands slid your jacket down your shoulders, the sleeves made their way off your arms with the help of a soft pull down. At the second he freed your upper limbs, you reached his bare chest and placed your hands flat there. He delivered you a warm sensation, just like being at home. He palmed your low back because he was almost sure that your skirt had a zipper right there, an exact hunch. Maybe because he knew so many of your clothes.
The guy suddenly leaned back forcing you to fall down with him. You fitted on top of him and chuckled taken off guard. It was easy for him to drag your skirt down your legs, leaving you only in a blouse and underwear. It was not enough yet but when you shifted to open your legs and straddle his hips, you got free to rub yourself to his dick. You had not forgotten how hard and inviting it looked since your arrival. maybe you had seen the tip glittering. For a brief moment, he lost his composure and pressed his eyes shut to produce a weak gasp.
“Inseong” you call him “, how long have you been waiting for me with your dick hard?”
He opened his eyes immediately after you spoke his name, as his eyelids revealed his eyes, you noticed that they had rolled back.
“Fifteen or twenty minutes. I wasn’t sure of how much you would take to show up.”
“Are you saying that…” you reasoned, your hips immobile weighting over his. It was impossible to not feel his member twitching between you. “you have been edging yourself for around twenty minutes?”
“Yes” he admits, the lonely affirmative word sounded in a breathy manner. So sexy.
He was extremely sensitive and still acted confident when you discovered him there. How cute. You decided on moving again, this time your hips moved from side to side. He let himself get lost in the thrill for a brief while just squirming under you, his hands faintly grabbing on your butt cheeks. Then he changed his attitude all of a sudden “Stop this abuse! What the hell? I am the surpriser here!”
He stopped your moves with a rough grip.
You peck him in the lips before saying what was in your mind. “It’s the best surprise I have in a long time. You actually are alone a big surprise in my life”
Your bodies are now motionless. You just stare into each other eyes in adoration.
“It means a lot to me, my girl.” He finally says caressing your butt, but in a tender way despite the whole scene where you played the main role.
There are so many ways to say I love you and you both had just found a new one.
“Let me give you an orgasm before you explode then, sugar” you whisper in his ear and receive the go to raise your body and choose how to make him cum.

Hi ❄️ may i request a fluffy sweet but steamy nsfw scenario where Hawks and his fem s/o have the same birthday? Like they want to spoil each other and treat them extra special on that day. My birthday is dec 28th and it’s the same as our bird Keigo’s 🥺 I’d really appreciate it if you write this!! Sorry if it’s not clear enough. Thank you and wishing you happy holidays! 💛
Birthday Surprise
Takami Keigo x Reader
Warnings: Sexy time actions! Nothing really kinky just hawks cooing :p Happy Birthday ^.^ To you and Keigo and, anyone else whose birthday is on the 28th of December! Also I’m so sorry this is late I uh may have been binging this show on netflix all day… I used to watch it as a kid and I geeked when I saw it there and watched all 20 episodes…….
“I’m so sorry I can’t be home earlier today babe. I got stuck with more patrol.” You heard your lover of five years apologize. You had to shake the excitement off your voice when you went to reply.
“That’s terrible Kei, but it’s the life of a hero and, I would never ask you to stop protecting the people.” you replied with faux disappointment.
“Thank you babe your so understanding.” He cooed. “I promise I’ll make it up to you. Happy birthday Angel face.” He chirped.
“Happy birthday you dumb bird.” You replied. And, with that the both of you hung up. You grinned to yourself while balancing the box on your hip in order to open the heavy door to the roof. As soon as you opened the door you were met with a landing Hawks. There was a basket secured in his arms and in his other hand he held a heavy looking bag. He was smirking at his phone when his feet hit the ground and then his golden gaze fell onto you.
You both looked at each other observing what the both of you held. It was then that the two of you broke out into laughter. It had seemed that the both of you had the same idea. He placed what he had in his arms down and opened his arms with a cute half-grin. You placed your box down before bulleting off into his arms. Your arms looped around him when you collided with him your legs hooking around his waist. His wings fluttered at the extra weight but his strong hands immediately held onto your thighs to hold you up.
You rested your forehead against his with a smile. He looked just as gorgeous as ever. Before you could continue your stere of adoration he raised the both of you up with a beat of his powerful wings. Your body tightened around him, face buried into his neck. You knew he wouldn’t drop you but, you knew he’d tease at it…
He nuzzled his face into your neck still chuckling at the coincidence and your reaction. The he spoke “So, what’s my little Dove doing up here?” He teased.
“Me?” You scoffed placing a kiss against his jaw. “What about you mister ‘I’m going to be home late, I got more hours of patrol’.”
“Well I never said which area I was going to patrol.” He sassed. “What if my patrol consisted of watching people from this building. Hm?”
“You dumb bird.” You laughed. “Then what’s all of that.” You accused gesturing to the items he dropped.
“Emergency rations.” He lied. “I’m a big bird now and need to eat.”
You rolled your eyes, sighing once his feet were back on the ground. You gave him a chaste his before you unlatched yourself from him.
“Your just gonna leave me with that itty bitty tease?” He pouted. “At least give me a proper kiss.”
“Nope!” You chirped heading over to your box.
“But it’s my birthday.” He whined a teasing grin on his face as he also picked up his goods.
“Well then birthday boy let’s set the mood for it first.” You snickered opening the door to the spacious greenhouse. It was obvious that the two of you had planned some sort of surprise for each other on the roof. After all it was where you met. Well officially met.
The two of you had lived in the same apartment complex for a while but that night you slapped him on the roof was unforgettable it was also the spark that ignited the flames of your relationship. It took a lot of work for the two of you to be together. Many cold nights on the roof were shared. Many stories told, tears shed and memories made.
It was during the year that the both of you got together that you decided to ask the landlord permission to construct a greenhouse. And, when the old geezer gave you the greenlight your plants blossomed much like the love between you and the winged hero.
You loved comparing your relationship to the greenhouse. It was a perfect connection because just as the greenhouse had required dedication, time, effort and accommodations and so had your relationship with Takami. It wasn’t easy but damn if the results for both of them weren’t incredibly beautiful.
Takami moved the round table in the center of the greenhouse to the side to make room for the blanket he had removed from his bag. “So little bird whacha got in your box.” He hummed pulling out a couple of electrical candles. You couldn’t help but snort as you pulled out fairy lights and a couple of lanterns.
“Same thing” You giggled. “I was going to bring the rest of the stuff up by parts.”
“So, we seriously planned the same thing?” He chuckled.
“Yup.” you grinned. “Picnic under the stars?”
“Picnic under the stars” He repeated. “We’re so original.” He teased.
“Hey! This wasn’t the only thing I had planned.” You defended.
“Oh yeah?” He asked taking the lights from your hand. He hovered off the ground to string them up as you pulled out the treats from his basket.
“Yeah?” You replied with a smile as you noticed he had brought your favorite goodies. “I had planned on preening you.” You saw how his feathers fluffed up at your words. He loved it when you did that.
“That sounds wonderful birdie.” He all but purred. Just the thought of your fingers running through his feathers made him shiver. “I had something else planned for you too.”
“Let me guess?” You plastered a thoughtful look on your face. “Massage?”
“We’re so predictable!” He hollered.
“Doesn’t make it any less sweet” You smiled kissing his cheek when he landed. “Dumb bird.”
“That’s offensive sweetheart~” He teased his hands immediately went to your hips to pull you closer pressing his smooth lips on yours “Angel you’re absolutely perfect.” He mumbled. You snorted. Takami was the biggest flirt you had ever had the fortune of meeting and he’d chat you up any second he got. You pushed his hands before they got frisky.
“Come on cassanova” You snickered pulling him down onto the blanket. “Let’s see if any of this actually tastes good.”
“Hey!” He laughed.
You swore that every second you spent with the golden haired man you fell even more in love with him. Throughout the night you were left breathless more times than you could count as you joked and feed each other finger foods. And when he pulled out the popcorn chicken you wheezed. Your man really couldn’t go a day without chicken. He just joked saying ‘it’s what put meat on my bones, the secret to my amazing strength lies in these suckers right here.’
Hawks loved to impress you with stories of his daily ‘feats of awesomeness’. And, as you both laid side by side gazing into the night sky he recounted story after story. You hummed along to all his asks about ‘and guess what happened next?’ as if you hadn’t heard all these stories billions of times. He never failed to draw peels of laughter from your lips at the comical way he told them.
“Okay, okay I’ve been rambling for hours angel but, I saved the best story for last.” He chirped bringing your entwined hands to his lips to press a soft kiss against your knuckles. Your face immediately felt hot at the first words that spilled from his mouth.
“It starts with me landing on the roof after a long shift. I was ready to hit the sack but this beautiful girl spotted me and thought I was a burglar.”
“Keigo no!” You squealed in embarrassment.
“Why not?” He chuckled “It’s one of my favorites.”
“You know why.” you moaned in shame.
“And when I stepped forward she mmmph” You had cut him off by straddling the hero and shoving his beloved chicken in his mouth. Takami’s eyes shone with mirth at the flustered look on your face. Your embarrassed face was enough to distract him from the discomfort of his wings being pushed against the ground. When he swallowed the morsel he spoke.
“I’m not sure if I like this new feeding method.” He quipped.
“Shut up!” You snorted. He sat up making you sit upon his lap.
“You know your being real mean to me on my birthday little dove.” He pouted rubbing his nose against yours.
“It’s my birthday too you brat.” You mirrored his pout pinching his nose playfully. He swatted your hand away with a breathless laugh. His gold eyes gazed into yours lovingly and he let out a content sigh.
“Have I ever told you how much I love you.” He sighed.
“Yeah. And, my heart skips a beat everytime.” You replied.
You both sat there in comfortable silence. You lay your head against his chest and from your position on his lap it was easy to wrap your arms around him. You let out a soft exhale as his fingers drew shapes into your back from the inside of your shirt. Your own fingers trailed up his back to stroke his red plumage.
The reaction on his end was immediate. His muscles relaxing as you thumbed the up his spine to the base of his wings. When you pressed against the area where his wings broke out from his back he let out a soft coo. He nuzzled his head into your neck as you continued to stroke the area. Your fingers threaded through the ruffled feathers and he let out a sigh.
“Your so sensitive Kei.” You whispered. He just let out another bird like chirp nipping at your neck when your fingers rubbed him the right way. Even though you were used to him reacting like that it never ceased to surprise you so you gasped at the pleasant sting. His lips were quick to apologize kissing the bites he gave you tenderly.
Your fingers went deeper into the crimson plumage and you felt him quirk his hips upwards. You hummed at the friction. You wouldn’t lie. His soft coos and moans had heat pooling at your belly. It seemed as though you weren’t the only one feeling hot as his hips grinded up into you. His hands were roaming your body squeezing your sides while his lips attacked your neck.
You tugged at a feather making him groan and thrust up roughly. Your felt your cunt clench in arousal. Soon you began to move your hips down on him.
“Kei~” You sighed grinding on the winged hero you looked down at him and moaned. His expression was the very definition of lewd. His flushed face and half-lidded eyes were gazing up at you in adoration and need.
“(Name)” He sighed tugging at your shirt. You easily complied to his silent request after all it was begging to get unbearably hot. Just as you were removing your top he did the same removing his coat and shirt in rapid succession. As soon as they were gone his lips were on yours. He made to devour you as his tongue in invaded your mouth, the muscles gliding over every crevice and stroking yours in play. Throughout the ordeal the both of you didn’t let up of your movements.
You could tell that if you continued the both of you would finish before it could get interesting. Especially with the way he was moving against you. You whined into his mouth as his fingers teased your nipples through your bra. The firm strokes shooting electric pulses up and down your body. He tore at the material when you rutted against him harder. His mouth latching onto the hardened bud of your left tit. You yelped when he bit down softly.
One of your hands continued it’s massage of his thick plumage while the other tugged at the thick strands of wheat colored hair. The groan that left his lips was enough to have you soiling your panties as you felt the gooey liquid of your arousal seep through the material. You felt one of his hands glide down your body to the hem of your jeans.
His fingers undid the button on your jeans and his fingers slipped under the fabric and under your panties. “Fuck baby bird.” He groaned into your mouth at the feeling your slick coating his fingers. “You so wet for me baby~”
“K-Kei~” You whimpered as his fingers stroked over your lower lips and up to your clit. His fingers teased your sex running up and down your folds and occasionally touching your senstive nub. Your grip on both his hair and wing tightened.
“Nngh” He mewled. “A-are you okay with this?”
“Keigo we’ve had sex before” You sqeaked as he easily slipped two fingers into your tight heat.
“I meant on the roof angel.” he hummed thrusting his fingers into you slowly relishing in the drag he got whenever he pushed them into you. Your pussy pulsed around his fingers trying to suck him in deeper.
“F-fuck yes on the roof Kei~” You whined as his figers curled inside of you immediatly finding the spongey area inside you that maximized your pleasure. “D-doesn’t matter I just want you. P-preferably now.”
“Preferably now.” He repeated with a lustful chuckle. When he pulled out his fingers you groaned but quickly lifted your hips to remove your jeans while he unbuckled his. Once the pesky clothes were out of the way you both sighed in relief. Before you settled back on his lap you pointed to the windows of the greenhouse.
“Look.” You grinned watching as his eyes lit up in amusement at the fogged glass. “Guess now we have a bit more privacy.” You joked.
“Not into being watched sweetheart.” he teased knowingly.
“Shut up and fill me up birthday bird.” You mumbled positioning your entrance over his length. He teased the head of his cock against your hole lubricating his throbbing length. You sighed when he rubbed circles with it on your clit. You were about to call him out on his tease when you gasped. You moaned at the feeling of his cock stretching you out. With every inch sheathed into you groaned. Once you met the skin of his lap you both sighed.
“You feel so good (Name).” He huffed his hands coming to grip your hips as you began to move. You lifted your hips feeling how his cock dragged against your slick walls only to drop yourself down allowing him to bottom inside you again. You continued to move falling into a comfortable rhythm while he lazily thrusted up into you.
“Mmm Kei~” You sighed your hands on his shoulders to steady yourself. It wasn’t long before you inscreased your pace. Everytime you came back down you’d grind your hips down on him to feel the friction against your clit. It felt amazing.
“Ah!” He always did this to you. Letting you ride him slow and deep till he took matters into his own hands. Or cock. The hard thrust he gave made your back arch your belly pressing into his toned abdomen. He gave another harsh rut into you and you squealed at the feeling. He settled into a hard quick rhythm. And, as he fucked up into you hard and deep you whimpered and moaned. He wasn’t far behind on the spectrum groaning and hissing into your ear with every thrust.
You felt yourself flush at the sound of him pistoning in and out of your sopping pussy. As if he wasn’t going fast enough his speed increased as he shifted to hit you at an angle that had you crying out his name. You could feel everything. His lips trailing kisses from your chest to your jaw, his hands squeezing the flesh of your ass, the way the veins on his cock rubbed against your throbbing heat.
“Nnngh Keigo! Ah f-fuck t-there.” You whined biting your lip.
“Mmm You’re squeezing me so tightly babe~” He gasped grinding into you. He let out a grunt shifting so that you laid atop the blankets. Your legs were pushed further apart as he fucked you from a new angle and you couldn’t help the shreiks of pleasure that escaped your lips as he managed to hit a sweet spot deeper inside of you.
“You like that don’t you birdie” He groaned. “You love it when I fuck this tight hole of yours.”
“Yes! Oh yes Kei! F-fuck I love it so much~” you cried.
“Fuck your so gorgoues.” He moaned looking at your lewd expression. Your looked like a mess but, fuck if you weren’t the most gorgeous mess he’s ever seen. Especially since you were panting and moaning his name. When you felt his fingers press against your clit you squealed.
“M-more Keigo~” you panted your tongue rolling out of your mouth in your hazy state of lust. He wasn’t in a teasing mood and gave you what you wanted pressing down on your clit frimley while drawing figures around the pleasure giving nub. You felt your toes curl at the feeling and, soon you felt the coil that had been building in your core grow.
“Gonna cum birdie?” He grunted rutting into you quicker. “Cum for me baby. Cum on my cock sweetheart. L-let nngh let all our fucking neighbors know hah! Whose making you feel this good~”
With an arch of your back you felt all your muscles lock up as your came with a loud cry of his name. “W-what a pretty song~” He grunted chasing his own release as he felt your cunt spasm around his cock. The tightness of your pussy making his eyes roll back as he pumped into you a couple of more times before he released his hot mess deep inside your still convulsing pussy. He came with a choked moan thursting his seed into you deeper before stilling himself in order to catch his breath.
His body bent over yours so that he could rest his forehead against yours. When your eyes fluttered open you caught his golden gaze and sighed. He fluttered his wings cooling both of you down as you both just looked at each other. Your hands that had been gripping the sheet ran up to cup his cheeks.
“I love you Keigo.”
He leaned into your touch closing his bright eyes with a peaceful smile on his face. When he opened then you couldn’t help how your heart raced. The tender look in his eyes stole your breath away and he smiled down at you, you could have sworn he was a real angel.
“I love you too (Name).” He beamed nuzzling his nose against yours. “Happy birthday~”
.
.
.
.
If you thought that he was done with you then you miscalculated. The both of you were up there into the wee hours of the morning just basking in each others presence and indulging in each others skin. It was definitely one of the best birthdays you’ve ever had.
“You think anyone noticed?” You sighed curled up into Takami’s side.
“Well if those circular scuff marks on the glass are anything to go by then I’d say yes.” He mused. “Well I hope they enjoyed the show.” He laughed.
“Keigo!” You scolded.
“Kidding!…….Maybe…..Ow!”

Hannah looked out of the window, taking in the familiar sights as the plane got ready to land and a few minutes later, as the wheels hit the runway and the passengers cheered she couldn't help but sigh. She was home. Just as she unfastened her seatbelt and waited for the sign signalling they could disembark, her mind wandered to the moment she had said goodbye a few hours earlier that morning. She felt a pang of sadness at the image of Simon trying to follow the truck as Ari had pulled out of the resort to drive her to the airport, a couple of hours earlier than initially planned-she may or may not have told the team her flight was a few hours earlier than it was so that her and Ari could grab a drink at a small coffee shop not far from the airport. It was hardly what one could call a ‘sweep you off your feet’ date but it was nice to get out alone, just the two of them. It had felt good that Ari and her had been able to experience a certain level of normalcy before the inevitable and emotional goodbye and promises to try not to miss each other too much.
She wandered through passport control and after picking up her bag she went out into the arrivals of Ben Gurion airport almost on autopilot but she smiled hard when she saw her Mama and, just like that, her eyes filled with tears as she hurried forward and hugged the woman tightly. After the emotional reunion they headed back to the house, Hannah's childhood family home, where she had been living with her Mama since she had left the apartment her and Andy had rented once they’d gotten married. Unable to stay there alone after his death, she’d moved home and had remained there up until the moment Ari had come into the clinic turning her whole world upside down. As her Mama opened the door Hannah smiled at the familiar décor of the hallway and let out a little, happy sigh as she stepped over the threshold. It smelt like home, it felt like home... it was home.
Hannah headed upstairs and ditched her bag in her room, thinking to herself about how the last time she’d been in here was before she left in January. Back then she’d never have guessed how things would have turned out for her so far in 1980.  She glanced at her reflection in the mirror and decided that she needed a shower so turned to grab some fresh clothes out of a drawer, and as she did so she spotted a few photos of her and Andy on the unit. She glanced at them, a soft smile on her face and then turned to look around her room at the numerous other snaps of the pair of them dotted in various places in the room. She contemplated moving them for a moment before she finally came to a decision and did just that, popping them carefully in a drawer which she slowly closed after a last, nostalgic look at Andy's handsome face. She’d loved him, there was no doubt about that. But time moved on and she was finally ready to move on with it now. Shaking those sad memories from her mind she went into the bathroom to shower and twenty minutes later she made her way down to the kitchen at the back of the house which overlooked the large communal garden they shared with 4 other homes.
She found her Mama was stood at the stove, preparing dinner, and Hannah approached, wrapping her arms round her from behind, hugging her close.
"Nothing like your food mama. Not that Aziz’s isn’t good because it is but, well, there’s nothing like yours." she trailed off.
Her Mama turned to look at her kissing her head. "I’m making your favourite from when you were young, mi niña."
"Beef wellington?" Hannah asked, her eyes lighting up.
Mama nodded and Hannah gave a groan. "Sammy is gonna be so jealous when I get back."
"You don’t have beef in Sudan?" the woman asked as she stirred what looked like some kind of gravy in a pot.
"Half the time I haven’t got a clue what I’m eating to be honest, other than when it’s fish. Last time we had some form of steak I think it was camel."
Mama laughed heartily.  "Your brother must be having a hard time, he’s always been the picky one."
"He’s still a pain in the ass, mama." Hannah said as she moved from her mother's frame and leaned casually against the counter.
Mama looked at Hannah spotting the crease on her brow immediately and, raising an eyebrow, she asked. "Are we still talking about food, honey?"
Hannah shrugged.  "In general, and you look just like him when you do that, stop it."
"When I do what?"
"Raise your eyebrow and look at me like that."
"Like what?" the woman, whose eyes were on the pots and pans in front of her again, asked.
Hannah groaned with frustration. "Come on Mama, you know what like."
Mama sighed and, setting the wooden spoon aside, turned to look at her daughter, her hands falling down to her hips in a typical mother stance. "The only thing I know is my daughter, who I haven’t seen in months, looks more gorgeous, relaxed and happier than when she left... In fact, more so than I’ve seen her in years. Which is ironic really considering what you’re doing out there."
Hannah blushed a little at her mum's last sentence but decided to roll with it. "Well it’s nice to be doing something mama, back in the thick of it all so to speak."
Now she saw her mother was sporting a wide smile, not a sympathetic smile but a knowing one. And Hannah knew she must have anticipated something like that, if anything her mother was clever. "Something uh?" the woman said.
Hannah looked at her blankly, not understanding what she meant, or rather not wanting to give in that easily.  "Yeah, the resort and the job."
"I know that look Hannah, You’re my daughter remember, I raised you. Something tells me it’s not simply all down to those people you’re helping." her mother baited her again.
"No…I…it’s not…" Hannah's train of thought stopped as she spotted her mum's eyes skate down her neck just before she nodded to her necklace, and instinctively she reached up to touch it. Mama smiled and whether it was at the necklace or at her sudden need to touch it for comfort, Hannah couldn't tell.
"That’s pretty."
Hannah smiled back at her before speaking. "It was a birthday present. Along with my watch, look."
She stretched her forearm and turned her wrist slightly to show her mother the watch but the woman wasn't one to be fooled and smiled before taking her eyes off the watch and nodding back at the necklace. "What is it, some kind of bee?"
"It’s a firefly."
"I take it that it was from the only person who calls you that?" her mother asked then and Hannah flinched. She had served her mother the opportunity on a silver plate and now she felt herself growing warm again under her mom’s scrutiny, but, much to her dismay, Mrs N was not letting go. "I’ve got to admit, it was a nice surprise when Ethan told me what Ari was planning to do for your birthday."
Hannah then let out a low laugh, shaking her head at her mother’s tenacity. "Why don’t you just ask me, Mama?"
"Why would I ask when I already know?"
"And what is it that you think you know?" Hannah asked, trying to sound as calm as possible.
Her mother looked at her for a couple of seconds before delivering the final blow. "That you and Ari are together. And not for the first time."
Hannah gasped. That last part had shocked her big time, she wasn't prepared for that. "You knew about us the first time?"
Mama nodded. "I did, yes."
"How did you…?"
"Once again Hannah, I’m your mother. It was pretty obvious to my eyes that something was going on there between you two back in the day.  And then you started going out almost every night and your friends used to call asking for you, so you clearly weren’t with them. And you were glowing, at the time. Just like you did when you were with Andy, and just like you are now."
Hannah looked down shyly before speaking. "Ok, so clearly I wasn’t as good at hiding it as I thought." she snorted and then paused. "Did you know about why…" she began to ask but stopped mid-sentence as she shook her head. "Actually, it doesn’t matter."
"Why you two split up? Yeah, I do. And I was mad at your brother for weeks." her mother conceded with a sigh.
“Seems like everyone knew bar me." she muttered absent mindedly.
"Sadly it's always like that, honey." Mama stated while rubbing her daughter's arm reassuringly before resuming her work over the stove.
"Did you know it was Andy who told him? About me and Ari I mean."
Mama snapped her head at Hannah, looking at her visibly shocked. "No, No I didn’t."
"Well it was." Hannah snorted. "Ironic huh, I married the guy that broke me up from the first man I…"
"You loved?" her mother asked, finishing the sentence for her, apparently recovered from the shocking news her beloved late son-in-law had some sneaky ways in him.
Hannah gave a little smile and nodded.
"So how did Sammy react to it this time round…not that I need to ask." Mama chuckled as she bent over to check the meat cooking in the oven.
"You know him. Made a huge fuss, punched Ari again." at that Hannah snorted. "Ari let him have the first one but the second time, well I had to stop him from ripping Sammy’s head off."
"Must have been something worth seeing. No doubt I’ll hear all about it in a few weeks when he comes home."
"No doubt you will. He seemed a little better after my birthday party, and the last mission.” Hannah bit her lip, her mind straying back to the disaster of the mission and she looked at the floor.
Her Mama gently touched her arm. "Ethan told me about the woman you helped and how her baby didn’t make it. Sweetie, that must have been awful."
"Yeah it was…" Hannah paused, frowning at her mother "Hang on, Ethan told you? When did you speak to him, mum?"
"Oh he took me out for dinner last week." she brushed her daughter's question off.
Hannah blinked at her mother’s matter of fact tone. "Ethan took you out for dinner?"
"Yes he did. We had a great time. You look surprised honey.” Her Mama’s eyes flashed with mischief “Is it that hard to believe your mother still gets it in her?"
"Oh my God…mama, that’s…ergh…"
"Hey, you’re acting like your brother now." Mama protested.
"Me cago en todo." Hanna cursed in Spanish earning, a scoff from her mother, and then she looked at her mom. "Mama…did you put out on a first date?"
"Young lady, watch your mouth." she said and Hannah laughed. "And have some respect for your mother." she paused for a moment as if considering what to say next. "Besides, what if I did? It's not like you and Ari are playing chess in that damned diving resort every night, is it?"
"OH MY GOD YOU SO DID!" Hannah exclaimed as she brought her right hand to cover her slack jawed mouth.
"Por el amor de Dios, Hannah. I’m not discussing this with you, now go wash your hands…dinner is ready."
"I just showered, why do I need to wash my hands?" Hannah offered somewhat feistily.
"You don’t, I just wanted to shut you up."
"God, mama, how am I supposed to look Ethan in the face tomorrow?" Hannah whined as she helped her mother with the oven tray.
"Same as I’m supposed to look at Ari in his, when I know what you’ve been up to." her mum retorted.
"Oh, for..."
"Mind you, I can’t blame you mi niña, Ari is a good looking guy. If I was 30 years younger…" the woman trailed, smirking.
"Mama, STOP!"
"What, it’s true?" Mama shrugged, amused by her daughter's reaction.
Hannah just shook her head before she grinned and pointed her finger at her mother "Well hands off, he’s mine."
"I don’t doubt it, honey." her mother declared, a wide smile spreading over her gentle face.
****
The next morning Hannah woke up and it took her a while to remember where she was. It wasn’t the sound of the waves crashing on the beach she could hear, but car horns and traffic. She recognised almost instantly though the smell of her ma's favourite soap in the sheets, but whilst her bed was comfy and familiar it felt odd. There was something missing. No Simon, no Ari, and that meant more to her than all the commodities she could ever have in Tel Aviv.
Well maybe she could trade sleeping snuggled to Ari for being able to eat Beef Wellington once a week… She chuckled and shook her head at her own absurd thoughts. Considering she spent years sleeping alone after Andy died, it hadn’t taken her long to get used to sharing a bed again, and if she was completely honest it was unnerving how she didn’t like Ari not being there, she knew it was stupid but still. She stretched and laid still in bed for a little while more as there were no breakfast duties to get to, but she suddenly remembered she did have a meeting with Ethan at HQ. Hannah cringed at the memory of her conversation with her mother last night, groaning to herself at the thought of the pair of them having dinner and… whatever. How was she going to be able to look him in the face? Shuddering at the thought she threw back the duvet and headed for her morning shower taking her time because she could, and also because she missed decent water temperature and pressure.
After her shower Hannah got dressed and went down to have breakfast with Mama. They sat and watched a little TV, another one of the things they quickly got used to not really having much chance to do in Sudan, before the car arrived to take Hannah to Mossad HQ. Once there she went through the security checks and headed up to Ethan's office, smiling to his secretary who told her to go in.
No sooner had she knocked lightly on the door before pulling it open, Ethan stood up from his desk, a smile on his face as he strode over and pulled her into a huge hug.
"You look well, Hannah."
"Thanks Ethan."
"Must be all that sun, sea and sand huh?" he said, pulling back to take her appearance in better.
"And life or death situations…" she smiled fondly at the man.
Ethan chuckled and directed her over to the couch where she took a seat at one side as Ethan headed out and asked his secretary to get them a coffee each. Then he closed the door and sat opposite her. They chatted for a little bit, just about how the resort was going, how everyone was, a debrief of sorts on the last mission which Hannah wasn’t all that keen on reliving, but she knew she had to. Then their coffees arrived and Hannah took the time to compose herself, the emotion of talking about what had happened to the baby girl having choked her a little. She took a sip, then eyed Ethan and smiled.
"My mom says you’ve been out on a date."
Ethan paused, his stoic stance faltering a little, then looked at Hannah. "I’ve…taken her for dinner, yes."
"Has she seen your silk robe?" she attacked again.
"How do you know about that?"
Hannah grinned at the sight of Ethan's creased brow. "Ari told me."
"Course he did." he sighed. "And that reminds me... Sarah Levinson called last week asking me when you were home." Hannah blanched at Ethan's words and he noticed. "Is there something you want to tell me?"
Hannah hesitated. She wanted to take another sip of her coffee in order to buy herself some seconds but with a swift glance she realised her cup was already empty, and that was all the confirmation Ethan needed. The experienced agent rolled his eyes at her before stating the obvious.  "I knew this would happen."
Hannah shook her head. "Why does Sarah want to know when I’m home?"
"Reading between the lines I think she wants to see you." Ethan said, his gaze never leaving Hannah's face.
"But why? I’ve met her like 5 times, if that!" Hannah sort of protested, rubbing her sweaty palms over her denim clad thighs.
"I think that’s obvious, you’re fucking her husband." Ethan shot, bluntly.
"They’re separated Ethan. And it’s not like that. You make it sound so crass, we’re not fucking…" she trailed off, her initial offended tone dying as she spoke.
"I know." Ethan agreed, his voice softer this time and stood up and headed to his desk. He reached into the drawer for a piece of paper which he gave to Hannah once he had checked it was the one he wanted. "She requested I ask you to call."
As Hannah took the paper from him there was a knock on the door and it swung open to reveal a short, slight, grey-haired man dressed in grey slacks and a light blue, short sleeved shirt. Hannah shoved the piece of paper in her pocket without giving much thought to what it meant and smiled at the man as he stepped into the room.
"I read those fucking reports you left on my table, Ethan, and let me tell you…"
Ethan cleared his throat and nodded to Hannah who blinked at the man, slightly amused at how angry he was despite his unassuming appearance. Ethan gestured to Hannah. "This is Hannah Horowitz. Hannah, meet Barack Isaacs, Mossad Chief."
Hannah stood up and shook his hand. "It’s a pleasure Sir to finally meet you in person."
"And you Mrs Horowitz. I’ve heard a lot about you from Ethan, and of course I knew your father. He was a good man. Taken far too soon." Isaacs said, not an ounce of anger in his voice or features now.
Hannah smiled. "Thank you Sir."
A few minutes later, after having said her goodbyes to both men who would be now no doubt be discussing the reports that had earned all those expletives from Isaacs’ part, Hannah headed down to the car and climbed in the back to head home. She watched the familiar buildings as they moved past and realised that the last time she had been in HQ was when Ethan broke the news of Andy’s death to her, in that very same office she’d been in today. She hadn’t even thought about it until now, but she remembered Isaacs calling her Mrs Horowitz and, now that she came to think of it, Ethan had introduced her to him as such. And whilst that’s what she was, the truth was she didn’t feel like it any more. She felt a little pang in her stomach at her own thoughts, a pang that she couldn’t quite place. Maybe it was guilt, she pondered, but what did she have to feel guilty about? Andy was dead. Had been for years and she had every right to move on.
Then the car stopped at a traffic light and her eyes drifted to a shop on the corner, nothing special, it was an ordinary grocery store but she remembered her and Ari buying a bottle of wine from there for one of their many clandestine nights in at his apartment. They had snuggled up to the latest Led Zeppelin LP and made out a bit, in fact that was the first night Ari had ever made her come using his very talented fingers. And, as the car set off, Hannah realised that the memories of her so-called hidden relationship with Ari were all so vivid in her head now, especially after so many years of blocking them out. She sighed and her hand fell absentmindedly into her pocket and curled around the piece of paper with Sarah’s number written on it.
By the time she got home she had decided. She was going to call Sarah and see what she wanted.
****
Ari had no idea how it had happened but Simon was missing. He’d searched the resort up and down and was currently going bananas looking for him around the beach and cursing the day he had backed Hannah up in keeping the damned dog.  He was legit shitting his pants when suddenly he heard him barking as he rounded the rocks with Max and Jake hot on his tail. Thank fuck, Ari thought. He might keep his head on his shoulders after all. He gave a sharp whistle and Simon looked up and then set off hurtling towards him. When the dog was close enough he jumped up at him and Ari caught him in his arms. "Hey, buddy calm down." Simon was whining and whimpering and licking Ari’s face as he rubbed the pup's back. "What the fuck has gotten into you?" Simon continued his little noises and nudged into Ari’s face and he glanced up at Max and Jake who were now within earshot. "You pup-napped my dog." Ari glared at them.
"It’s Hannah’s dog." Max deadpanned.
"He’s more mine than he is yours." Ari snapped, still angry at his two teammates for taking the dog without letting him know. And as that was just what he needed to appease himself, Sammy appeared, watching the exchange with an amused air.
"Only because you’re fucking his mom." Max mumbled.
Ari glared at him. "I heard that, dickhead."
"Technically he’s right." Jake quipped.
"Technically you’re an idiot." Ari bit back at Jake.
He was on edge, he was fully aware of that but there was nothing he could do about it. They had taken his fucking dog and it had almost given him a heart attack, not helping the bleak mood that had fallen over him ever since Hannah had left two days before.
"Technically?" Sammy asked and Simon growled. It was like a reflex action the dog had every time Sammy spoke.
"Never, ever take my fucking dog without my permission, you hear me?" Ari hissed glaring at Max and Jake.
Once again he knew he was overreacting but he couldn’t help it. If anything were to happen to this dog, he'd be a dead man, plus he’d miss him too. Ari looked at them once more and then headed off, Simon held to his chest like a small child, with both his arms underneath the dog's butt supporting him, Simon’s paws on Ari’s shoulders, head looking around. He nodded to Rachel, who walked past him towards the spot on the sand where Jake, Max and Sammy were, and without saying a word he retreated to his hut.
All three men stood put for a moment watching him leave and then Max turned to Sammy. "God I can’t wait for your sister to come back, he’s being a pain in the ass."
"As grossed out as it makes me I kinda agree." Sammy acknowledged Max's comment.
"Blue balls don’t suit him." Jake groaned.
"Leave him alone you guys, he’s in love. Wait until it happens to you." Rachel, who had reached them now and was shading her eyes from the sun with the palm of her hand, warned them. All three rolled their eyes and she scoffed. "What?"
"Nothing mom." Max quipped, earning a slap round the back of his head from Rachel.
"I mean seriously though, what were you thinking taking the dog? You know he’s in charge of him and he’s been on edge since Han left. Don’t make it worse."
"See, even you recognise he’s being an insufferable bitch." Max whined.
"Yes and you’re making it worse Maxwell." Rachel looked at him.
"Whatever, I’m hungry now."
"What else is new?" Jake scoffed before stating "You were born hungry."
"All babies are born hungry, asshole." Max snapped as he started walking towards the main building.
"You’re the asshole. The Maltese asshole." Jake shouted at him, following suit.
Rachel groaned, following the bickering pair up the sand. Sammy dropped an arm around her shoulder, giving her a squeeze and she shook her head. She really needed Hannah there to help her deal with the bunch of overgrown kids. So much for the trained Mossad agents they were supposed to be.
By the time the sun had begun to set and they were sat at the table having dinner everyone had calmed down bar Ari who persisted in being a little bitch. There he was trying to eat whilst Simon was on his lap as the fucking dog wouldn’t leave him alone now. Jake and Max must have played some tricks on the pup for him to be so anxious and clingy ever since he got back to Ari.
Assholes.
Sammy, in turn, was glaring at Simon as every time he spoke, the dog's lip would curl up in a snarl.
"What is your fucking problem?" Sammy snapped at the dog.
"Hey, don’t talk to him like that." Ari warned him, pointing at Sammy with a fork.
"Really, Ari?" Sammy scoffed and Simon growled again at the sound of his voice.
Ari sighed. "Si, quit it for fucks sake."
Rachel who was desperately trying to have a peaceful dinner without having to intervene, again, didn't miss the look Jake was giving at Sammy while mouthing "Si??" so she glared at the pair of them before she cleared her throat.
"We got a letter this morning, from the tourist board."
Ari turned to her "Yeah? What do they want?"
Rachel took the letter from her shorts pocket and handed it to him. She wasn't planning on playing that card, she had just shoved the letter there just in case but the boys' attitude had left her no choice.  "See for yourself."
Ari pushed Simon off his lap and took it. He unfolded it, his eyes scanning the words for a few seconds before he nodded. "They want to visit this weekend. I’ll call Madibo tomorrow morning, tell him it’s ok."
"Yeah…you checked the date?" Rachel asked.
"Yeah it says Thursday…so?" Max, Jake and Sammy exchanged glances and Ari looked around with an air of frustration.  "What?" "Hannah’s back on Thursday." Sammy reminded him, speaking quietly as if he was walking on eggshell.
"And?"
"Nothing." he shook his head. "I’ll pick her up from the airport if you’re busy."
Fuck Ari thought before pausing and shaking his head. "No need. I’ll go. You don’t need me here."
"Yes we do. That letter says he wants to see you." Rachel pointed at the letter.
Ari frowned and reached for it again before groaning as she was right. "Fucks sake. What time are they coming? Maybe I can…"
Once again Rachel, the voice of reason, cut him off. "No you can’t. They’ll be here by 11. Her flight gets in just after."
Ari looked at her as if she had just slapped him on his face.
"Ari I’ll go, it’s not an issue." Sammy offered.
Ari just nodded as he didn't trust his voice to come out right at that moment. He was raging inside, his mind ticking off all the curses possible. And as such he spent the rest of the meal sulking in silence before he excused himself and went back to his hut. As far as he was concerned his evening was over. One week, one fucking week without her and he had just been denied the possibility of picking her up. Instead he would have to put up with Madibo and who knows who else from the fucking corrupted tourist board.
With Simon whining, as he had clearly detected his dad was upset, and snuggling round his head on the pillow Ari laid on her bed for what seemed like hours, contemplating what a needy bastard he’d turned into (or rather Hannah had made him into) in such a short period of time, before sleep overcame him.
**** As Hannah made the 10 minute walk to the small Café she had arranged to meet Sarah in, the nearer she got the more nervous she was. She’d only ever met Sarah a handful of times, the last one being at her and Ari’s wedding. When she reached the café door her hands were sweating so she wiped them on her jeans and pushed the door open. As soon as she stepped in she spotted Sarah sat at a table near the back. She hadn’t changed much, was just as pretty as the last time Hannah had seen her. Striking cheekbones, deep brown eyes, light red hair. From the photo Hannah had seen of Maya which Ari kept on his nightstand she could see where the girl had gotten her looks from. She was very like her mother but had inherited Ari’s hair colour and face shape.
Sarah looked up, and gave Hannah a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes as Hannah approached the table. She stood up and offered a stiff hand to Hannah, which Hannah took, the shake very business-like.
“It’s been a long time.” Sarah spoke in her deep, American accent.
“Yeah, it has.” Hannah agreed as Sarah made to sit down again. Hannah followed and took the seat opposite her, hanging her purse on the chair back. No sooner had they done that than someone was over to take their order. They both requested a coffee each and when the waitress disappeared Sarah spoke.
“Thank you for agreeing to meet me. I wasn’t sure you’d even call so..”
“Well it would have been rude not to, plus I also have a letter for Maya from Ari. Saves me posting it I suppose.” Hannah smiled and reached for her purse, retrieving the thick envelope. She handed it to Sarah.
“Ari said Maya wanted some photos of Simon- my, well, the group’s dog really and she wanted to see the resort too so-“ she nodded to the envelope “- there’s some in there for her.”
“Thanks.” Sarah took the envelope, exchanging it for a slightly smaller one. “I also have a letter here for Ari from Maya, would you-“
“Of course.” Hannah nodded, taking it form her.
“You know she asks about you in there.” Sarah nodded to the letter “Her and Ari talked about you when he was home. He told her you picked her little beaded bag out, which for the record she still carries everywhere.”
Hannah blushed a little “I’m glad she liked it.”
“Are there any photos of you in here?” Sarah tapped the envelope and Hannah frowned, not quite sure what she was getting at.
“No.” she shook her head. But before she had chance to say anything else their coffee arrived. Both thanked the lady who set the cups down, then busied themselves adding sugar, Hannah stirring hers a little more than necessary before she broke the silence, deciding to ask the question that had been on her mind since Ethan gave her the piece of paper with the other woman’s number on it. “Sarah, why did you want to see me? We’ve hardly ever spoken before, certainly not like this.”
“Curiosity I suppose.” Sarah shrugged
“Curiosity? About what?”
“About you.”
“Me?”
Sarah nodded, taking a breath “Will you be honest with me Hannah?”
Hanna nodded, steeling herself as she waited for the inevitable question about whether her and Ari were back together.  She knew Ari hadn’t confirmed it to Sarah when he visited, because, well they hadn’t actually labelled what they were then, neither of them knew, but she also knew he hadn’t denied it.
“Do you love him?” Sarah asked.
“Oh…” that had surprised Hannah. She swallowed, “Sarah, I-“
“Because I know he loves you.”
Hannah took a deep breath before she shrugged “Yeah, yeah I do.”
Sarah nodded “In that case then I wish you good luck because you’re gonna need it.”
Hannah frowned and swallowed some of her coffee “What do you mean?”
“I mean when you all finish this mission and you’re not in your little fantasy reality anymore and you’re no longer his ‘bond girl’-”
“Hey, now, just wait a second-” Hannah interrupted a little tetchily but Sarah continued, ignoring her.
“-because he’ll never quit Hannah.” Sarah looked at her “-hell he wasn’t even there when Maya was born because he was stranded in some god forsaken part of Saudi Arabia.”
“He regrets that, he told me.” Hannah sighed and Sarah shrugged.
“I’m sure he does but his wife being 8 months pregnant wasn’t enough to stop him going. His own daughter since has never been enough to stop him going. This life, this sense of duty he has to those people, whilst it’s admirable it’s consuming him. And I just want you to know what you’re letting yourself in for. He dragged you back into all this, Hannah. He won’t be as easy to drag back out.”
Hannah looked at her, mouth hanging open a little as she wasn’t sure what to say. Part of her was pissed off, part of her felt guilty, and beneath it all a pang of sympathy. Ari hadn’t been a great husband or father, and Hannah knew that.
“That said, maybe he will quit for you.” Sarah continued “I mean, maybe me and Maya were simply just not enough…”
“Sarah, it wasn’t like that.” Hannah shook her head, sighing “I won’t make excuses for him being a shit husband and a lousy father because there are none to be made, and he knows that.”
“Yeah, he said all this when he came home.” Sarah gave a huff of laughter “He actually seemed different, happier almost, he was so relaxed with Maya and I get now that’s because of you.”
Hannah took a deep breath. “I kind of feel like I should be apologising for something here Sarah, I’m not sure what but-“
Sarah smiled “It isn’t your fault he’s been in love with you for the past 10 years.”
“Sarah…”
“You ever asked him why we weren’t at your wedding?” Sarah suddenly change the line of the conversation and Hannah looked at her, blinking “It was because he couldn’t bear to watch you marry someone else.”
“No, that’s... that’s not…”
“Ask him. He never admitted it but it was obvious. I was always second best in his eyes.”
“Ari loved you Sarah, I know he did, he’s told me.” Hannah implored “You’re the mother of his child.”
“Oh I don’t doubt he did.” Sarah smiled “Just not as much as he loved you. And here we are, he’s got you back in the end.”
At that Hannah felt the nerve twitch in her jaw, pissed at the nerve of the woman sat opposite her, blatantly trying to blame her for Ari’s attitude in their marriage. Like she was responsible for whatever he’d done over the last 8 or however many years it had been. She desperately wanted to defend Ari but couldn’t, simply because he had been an ass hole to Sarah and she wasn’t about to stick up for him when he didn’t’ deserve it, regardless of the fact she was dating him. But, she wasn’t about to sit here and take this crap from his estranged wife, especially not when Hannah had been through enough shit herself. She took a deep breath, folded her arms and arched an eyebrow. “Yeah, I guess he did. And all it took was a dead husband and a divorce huh?”
If her harsh, sarcastic tone bothered Sarah the other woman didn’t show it as she simply looked at Hannah with a small smile on her face, not a shred of anger on her face as she spoke “Well, fate has a wicked sense of humour.”

Thoughts on Part 4
So last night I finished Part 4 and put out this post asking if you guys wanted to share your thoughts on the last season of our beloved show. I woke up this morning to quite a few responses so I decided to culminate all of the ones I could respond to onto this post and share my own opinions.
If anyone has anything else they would like to share, please feel free to do so either by sending me an ask or reblogging this post (this is a side blog so replying to the post, as much as I appreciate it, doesn’t let me respond as @scorlettimagines). Okay, here goes:
@fearisholdingmedown: lol the whole season didn't make any sense and the ending skdnmgh Sabrina and Nick?????? and Zelda questioning Hecate? and just. left me really underwhelmed
I agree with this. I was extremely underwhelmed with the season; don’t get me wrong, some parts were great and really made me smile, but other parts? To me, and to my Dad who watches it with me, it felt like the writers tried to cram too much into it. There were definitely plot lines that didn’t get wrapped up, and things that seemed out of character for some.
Zelda questioning Hecate: I kind of understand, because wouldn’t you obviously question your Goddess after you prayed to her to save your niece/daughter and she didn’t? It is out of character for Zelda to question her faith, but I don’t blame her; she’s never lost Sabrina permanently before and I imagine it’s broken her a fair bit.
Sabrina and Nick at the end: Okay, so when Nick showed up at the end, my first thought was that a lot of time had passed and Nick had had a sort of happy, but long, life. When he said he went swimming in the Sea of Sorrows, I was disappointed. To be honest, I was a bit disappointed with Nick’s character this whole season; it feels like the writers didn’t put enough effort into him and just reduced him to a love interest. (I felt that with another character too but we’ll get to that later). Yay they got reunited, but also not yay for the way it happened at the end.
@screechingexpertpruneneck: I loved the ending. I loved that Sabrina saved everyone but sucks she died. I think we can all agree that Ambrose is by far the smartest character on the show. Caliban obviously deserved better. Nick proved himself worthy of Sabrina this season and I’m glad there together now. I still can’t believe he killed himself just to be with her.
I did actually like the end; yes it was sad that Sabrina died, but it was a nice way to wrap up the show. I think her heroic qualities got detracted from in the last season with the whole Queen of Hell thing so it was nice to see her get those back. Kiernan smashed it with the death scene, and that whole montage of her birthdays had me in tears.
Ambrose is 100% the smartest character on this show. To me, he was the best thing about this season, as he was one of the only ones who seemed not to have changed at least slightly. Ambrose has been my favourite character since the pilot. I don’t write about him because his character is so complex, so eccentric, so fully-fledged that I don’t think I could do that justice. It was nice to see that Ambrose remained that way until the end, and I’m not going to lie, I could watch a whole spin off show about him. This is me being calm before I get to the next point. Oh God, I’m running out of things to say here. Prepare yourselves guys, here goes.
Can someone please explain to me how the fuck-fuck-fuckity-fuck-fuck Caliban went from Prince of Hell, main villain of last season to well, that? Like when he showed up dancing, I was so confused. Like, they missed out the whole section about what happened after Sabrina literally turned him to stone? The wedding was bizarre; I wanted Calbrina a few months ago, but I don’t anymore. Then in episode 3, when he was sitting on the throne and revealed his plan (you can bet your bottom dollar I’m going to be using that for imagines) hope was restored. He was still the crafty little shit that I fell in love with back in January. But then, it was never mentioned again? Like, he was just there. As Sabrina Morningstar’s husband? For me, it was cringy and I feel like the writers definitely didn’t put enough effort into him- it was like they didn’t know what to do with him. Although, his part in the AU episode made me laugh. Considering that I’ve been following Sam Corlett’s career over 2020 and I know how well he can act, I was disappointed to see him reduced to basically a prop for a bit of eye candy. His “death” was anti-climactic and a bit shit. Anyway, Caliban to me is always gonna remain the Caliban he was in Part 3 (and tiny little bits of Part 4) because there’s character development and then there’s just taking the mick.
Nick, yeah. He did prove himself worthy of Sabrina, and I cried when they got back together, but as I mentioned before, I feel like that’s all he was used for this season. He didn’t really get a proper arc like previous seasons, and the fact that he killed himself just to be with her grated on me a bit, because that’s not what I would have expected from a character like him.
@robinisthebestfellow: Can we just talk about how random some of it was I mean like oh he’s good and honest annnnd then no
Assuming you mean Caliban? Just to add to the above rant, I didn’t want him to be nice. Yes, I write about him being nice in my imagines, but I always try to keep some of his actual character in my work (at least, I hope I do). But yeah, for my rant on Caliban see above.
@eyebagsarebetterthanhandbags: Whoever was on costume design for prudence knocked it out of the park she was gorgeous every millisecond of screen time- wished her and Ambrose made up tho at the very least😔 they were my fave couple
Prudence was another favourite of mine this season; she didn’t change in her character and she was, of course, absolutely stunning. For her and Ambrose to make up would have been lovely, but I have a feeling from how close they were in the final episode that the writers were planning on it.
@itscoldinwonderland: Lilith, Zelda and Ambrose all deserve so much better.
Okay, starting with Lilith. I agree here. I feel like the whole Hell family (Lucifer, Caliban, Lilith etc) was just used and abused this season. I think she got better as the season went on, but for me, killing the baby was a bit extreme. Her last scene was mental; I don’t think she deserved to go as insane as she did, but well done to her for finally taking down Lucifer. Fuck the patriarchy.
Zelda. Yes. Yes. Yes. She deserved to be happy. Miranda Otto killed it this season with the emotional side of things. The whole thing with Vinegar Tom made me sob harder than anything else this season; it was something I relate to and well done to Miranda for getting that across perfectly.
Ambrose. I would have liked to have seen a more rounded ending for him rather than just standing at Sabrina’s graveside. But discussing seeing more of Ambrose’s character would open up a whole can of worms, for example, WHY did he try to blow up the Vatican?
@supportstudies: it was so weird?? I guess it’s because the writers had to rush the ending but now I have more questions- also sad bc I wanted more caliban
I was under the impression that this was written before the show got cancelled, but if they already knew then this makes more sense. For me, a lot was rushed and there were a lot of questions that were left unanswered.
Caliban? You’ve seen the above rant, you know how I feel about that.
@lizmny3: Mambo Marie really had me there
Same, lovely, same. More for Zelda than any other reason.
Okay, so that’s it for now. Again, if anyone has anything else they would like to share please do. Requests are open again now and you should be getting another Caliban imagine next week (fingers crossed). I’m off to write two bibliographies now. Wish me luck!

A Head Cannon Biography and Character Analysis and of the Captain, Part 4: Why the Captain Was So Excited for the War But Still Ended Up Living Vicariously through Monty
I would guess that the Captain had probably been looking forward to a war for a long time when World War II finally started. Minor wars had been rather more frequent before WWI and he was probably disappointed that WWI put a stop to a lot of that. I imagine he was super-excited when WWII came around. And I head cannon he’d have had three very big reasons to want a war.
First, he shoved it deep down but he knew he was gay, and there was a very unfortunate general societal view of gay men as cowards and sissies in the time period. (Enough so that Willem Arondeus, a Dutch resistance fighter in WWII, who was executed by the Nazis in 1943 after bombing a public records office so the Nazis wouldn’t be able to use it to hunt down the Dutch Jewish population, made a point of announcing in his final statement that he and his co-conspirators were all gay and that this should be proof that homosexuals weren’t cowards.) The Captain was bound to have internalized this view to some degree. Going to war would be an opportunity to prove to himself and the world that he wasn’t a coward or a sissy.
Second, there’s the frequently named reason why many people who join the military in peace time hope for war (I’ve read far too many military memoirs): garrison life is just the rehearsal; war is the big show (a concept that might have appealed to his inner theater gay). Nearly two decades in the military without a war is like rehearsing for a show- in Cap’s case, a show that has him surrounded by people who aren’t his sort of people in a role that squashes all the good parts of him down- only for there never to be an opening night. And of course, after years of practicing for something- even if people know that war is awful- it’s just human nature to want to finally go out and do it, to see if you actually have what it takes to pull it off.
Finally, third and most important, there was his career. He wouldn’t have failed to notice the fact his career had dead ended. I’m sure the failure to make major ate at him. He’s clearly the sort that takes things personally. And I’m sure it would have particularly stung since the reasons were most likely largely based on his disposition: he didn’t have the right kind of personality to play ‘father to his men’ or to ‘just be one of the guys’ with his fellow officers or to effectively play court to higher ranking officers. Unfortunately for him, being able to fill your role the right way in the military is just as important, if not more important, than being able to do the job well. The higher-ups tend to make their decisions on people based on their day to day behavior, not their semi-annual range scores, and it’s the confident, positive, cheery, All-American (in the US army, anyway… All-British? Is that a thing?), popular, manly types who the higher-ups notice and invest their time into helping. The Captain just wasn’t the sort of man one of the higher echelon brass types was going to take a liking to and make a protégé or a pet project.
And also, frankly- although I don’t think the Captain acknowledged this bit to himself, as he clearly thinks he’s more subtle about his attractions than he is- even if he did have the right sort of personality, the fact he was an unmarried middle aged man of the sort that pays far too much attention to other men who are the right sort of handsome would have caused enough suspicion about his sexuality to dead end his career anyway. The military is one of those places where you don’t need a scandal to destroy you; the suspicion of scandal is enough. This would be even more true in the pre-WWII days, which were much more prudish times.
In war, however, having the wrong sort of personality could be overridden by having the right sort of competence at war fighting. I personally like to think, even though everything indicates he is a lousy garrison commander, that if he had been given an artillery battery overseas against the Germans, he would have acquitted himself well. He was clearly competent at shooting: he was able to talk Michael, who didn’t seem to have any firearms experience, through shooting a pheasant at the other end of a field, which isn’t necessarily the easiest task even when you’re able to pull the trigger yourself. I’ll give him enough credit to say that if he’d ever been given the chance, he probably could have consistently put artillery barrages down on time and on target, too. Going to war would have given him a chance to prove himself to the army, that he was in fact a worthwhile officer, to pull his career from the gutter. I’m sure he probably daydreamed, too, about a bit of particularly skillful bombardment turning a battle around, as it sometimes did, and becoming some sort of war hero. Finally living up to the person he’d been trying to be since he was eleven. Finally getting some sort of validation.
But no one was willing to give him the chance to go to war. The reasons he’s given probably aren’t the real reasons he isn’t sent. He’s probably told that field command is a young man’s game. That it should be left to his fellow captains who are in their mid-twenties to early thirties. He’s already forty, maybe approaching forty-one depending on his birthday, when the war starts. Maybe he already has bad knees, from thirty years of marching, ever since military school, and that’s given as an excuse, too. (And I think all of this is the reason he’s insistent on the running and proving he’s still fit and not past his prime in season 2, particularly the Grey Lady episode.) Maybe he’s told, too, that he has a good eye for detail and is thus ideal to oversee explosives and ordinance research, to soften the blow a bit. But really, it’s because no one takes him seriously. No one respects him enough to think that it will turn out well if he were to lead men into battle.
So instead he spends the war at Button House, bored out of his mind, knowing that the last chance to salvage his career is slipping by, actually hoping for the Germans to invade so he’ll get to see some action, and living vicariously through reports of Monty’s victories against the Afrika Corps.
Blow by blow analysis of the flashback scenes in Reddy Weddy are to follow. Probably tomorrow, because he’s such a train wreck in that first scene. My beloved train wreck, but still a train wreck. That post is gonna be a long one.

Sweet Sixteen
It’s @goldenalvez‘s birthday today and I wrote this a while back after hearing B said she didn’t have a sixteenth birthday party. I hope your day is joyful and that you never doubt how loved you are! Summary: Luke x Reader. In which Garcia learns the Reader never had a big birthday party and decides it’s time to change that.

“Y/N!” Garcia calls, running into the kitchenette impressively fast for someone in stiletto heels. “Luke said you didn’t want a birthday party! This has to be a complete and utter falsehood, so I immediately came to get the truth from you!”
Y/N raises her eyebrows, trying not to spill the coffee she’s pouring into a mug. “Why would my boyfriend lie about that?” she asks, laughing. “I’m not really one for birthday parties,” she admits. “I haven’t had one in ages.”
“Not even when you turned twenty-one? Or sixteen?” Reid asks. “Outside of bat and bar mitzvahs, those are the two most widely celebrated years for birthdays in American culture and tend to be seen as major milestones.”
She shakes her head and sets the pot of medium roast back on the burner. “Of course you would know that. No, I didn’t do anything. When I was young I would have parties and eventually people just stopped showing up. It hurt more than not celebrating at all, so by the time I was sixteen I’d kind of just given up on all that. But I mean, it’s not like you had a big celebration either, right?”
Reid considers this as he pours his own coffee. “Well, by the time I was sixteen I was about to graduate college and most of the way through my first doctoral dissertation. I hadn’t planned on doing anything, but Ethan was at CalTech at that point too. He and my advisor got some of the graduate students in my cohort together and surprised me. It wasn’t anything big but it was the first time I’d celebrated my birthday with someone other than my mom. Ethan’s boyfriend made a cake and my advisor pretended not to notice when the grad students broke out the wine and let me have some.” He turns to look at her. “I guess what I’m trying to say is that sometimes it’s nice to share that moment with people. To let them celebrate you.”
“Yes, that is exactly what I’m saying Boy Wonder!” Garcia chimes in. “And it’s no secret that I throw the best celebrations of all time, so it’ll be so much fun!”
“I love you both,” Y/N laughs. “But I really don’t need a pity party from my boyfriend’s team, okay? I just want to spend a quiet day at home with Luke and Roxy. But I need to get back to White Collar. My team has a con-man to catch and that data isn’t going to analyze itself.” She takes her coffee and walks down the hallway to her own office with its computer screens and maps. It’s true, she is looking forward to spending time with her favorite person and favorite non-person this weekend. But she also doesn’t want to go through the effort of planning a party only to be let down again. And though the BAU have become close friends since she and Luke began dating, it would still feel strange to be surrounded only by people she had met through him. But who else would even want to come?
Y/N shakes the thought from her head. She has a job to do. She refocuses on combing through emails and phone records. Agents from her own team come in and out of her office to ask questions or give her updates or stay and joke for a little while. She spends almost twenty minutes chatting with Darcy about the latest episode of The Bachelorette and joins both her and Marika for lunch in the courtyard. The day passes quickly and by the end of it, they’ve located their suspect in San Diego and agents at the local field office are poised to make the arrest over the weekend. It’s a job well-done, and her unit chief, Ahmed, stops by to thank her on her way out. She’s happy to see all their hard work pay off, but she is happier still to see Luke waiting for her by the elevator.
“We did it!” she tells him. “The case is closed!”
He grins and wraps her in a quick hug. “I knew you would. Now we have two things to celebrate this weekend.”
They step onto the elevator and she laces her fingers through his. “I don’t see why everyone makes such a big deal about birthdays. They’re just another day. They come every year.”
“Okay, okay, we don’t have to do anything if you don’t want to,” he relents. “I just want to make sure you know that if there is anything you want to do, your wish is my command.”
Y/N rests her head against his shoulder. He smells nice, his cologne a mix of tonka bean and spice and a hint of vanilla. It’s comforting and warm, just like him. He’s the one person who always makes her feel safe and at home. He drives back to their apartment where Roxy is all to eager to see them.
“Hello sweet girl,” Y/N coos, kneeling down to hug her after the Belgian Shepard nearly knocks over in her excitement. Roxy nuzzles against her shoulder, her tail sweeping back and forth. Luke feigns hurt at the affront of being greeted second. She takes Roxy out for a quick run around the block and returns to find Luke halfway through making dinner.
“Pastelón,” he explains. “It’s like… Puerto Rican lasagna. Plaintains, ground beef, cheese. It’s really good. My mom used to make it for my birthday.”
“Did you have traditions in your family for birthdays?” she asks. After six months together, there’s so much she’s still learning about him.
He shrugs. “We did when I was younger. My mom would cook dinner. If it was my dad’s birthday, she’d make flan, which I always hated. He would buy cheesecake for our birthdays. We’d invite our friends over and have a potluck party in the park across from the apartment. Tia Dolores next door made the best empanadas and my best friend’s dad used to grill plantains. My friends and I would run around the park and get into trouble. And every year we’d go around and everybody had to say one thing they loved about the person whose birthday it was.”
“That’s so sweet.”
“It was,” he says, putting the pastelón into the oven. “But after my dad left it was different.” This is a story she’s heard before – how his father had survived Vietnam but returned home from a brief deployment to Panama with a distant look that never quite went away. He didn’t know how to cope with the trauma and one day he just left. His dad had always been his hero and his mom’s hero – and so Luke had tried to be the same. Strong, reliable, brave. “It was hard for her. We stopped having all the neighbors over. But she always made pastelón, and she always told me what she loved about me.”
“I love that,” she says. Then, noticing the food on the counter she asks, “What are you going to do with all the leftovers there?”
Luke immediately returns to cutting plantains and beef. “I couldn’t make some for us and not give Roxy any.” She can’t help but giggle as his sincerity. Because of course he would make a special dish for her, too. That’s just who he is – he loves big and wide and without apology.
The next day, Luke is mercifully quiet about her birthday. He kisses her slowly when she wakes up and makes heart-shaped pancakes for breakfast, but doesn’t say a word. His smile tells her all she needs to her. He’ll make today about her without making a fuss. That’s all she could need.
But then she takes Roxy out for an afternoon jog, and when she returns the apartment looks completely different. String lights and streamers hang from the wall. Yellow paper flowers are carefully placed on tables and counters. The living room furniture has been rearranged to make extra space despite housing additional chairs from the kitchen.
Luke stands in the center of the living room wearing a burgundy shirt that she loves him in so much. The grin on his face is bashful, like she’s just caught him sneaking sweets from the pantry. “What’s going on?” she asks.
“I would just like to state for the record that this was not my plan, technically, and I was coerced under threat of serious bodily harm,” he says. There’s a knock at the door. Y/N shoots him a look, but he just holds his hands up in surrender, denying all responsibility for whatever is about to transpire.
She opens the door and comes face to face with her entire team. “Surprise!” they chorus.
“Wait, what?” She steps aside, completely stunned and they file into the apartment. “What are you doing here?” Ahmed is holding a plate of frosted cookies, Darcy and Marika both have well-wrapped presents tucked under their arms, and the rest of the White Collar Crimes unit look absolutely delighted to be there.
“You really thought none of us knew your birthday was coming up, Y/L/N?” Darcy asks. “We’re here to celebrate our favorite technical analyst, of course!”
“And one of our favorite people even if you weren’t our tech analyst,” Marika adds.
Before she can respond there’s another knock. Six of their neighbors are at the door this time, including the couple with the two twin boys who live above them, as well as her three former roommates. Everyone has some sort of food dish with them. And just when she thinks that they’ve never had this many people in their living room at once, the entire BAU shows up. Garcia holds a large frosted cake and a surprisingly large pink gift bag swings from her arm.
“Happy day of birth!” she declares, rushing in to set the cake down so she can hug Y/N.
“I don’t understand,” Y/N says. “I thought that-”
“You said you didn’t want a pity party,” Garcia interrupts. “This is not a pity party. This is a party of a bunch of people who love you and what to spend today with you.”
“But how did you do this?”
“I simply roped your beloved Newbie here into assisting me. He’s very good at keeping a secret you know.” Y/N glances back over at Luke, who smiles.
“Guilty as charged,” he admits. “I may have – under duress, of course – helped Penelope identify your closest friends and what their emails and social media accounts were. She sent out invitations and helped me set everything up.”
“We were cutting it a little bit close,” Garcia says, “since I only had twelve hours notice, but I think we pulled it off pretty well.”
So everyone here just showed up? With almost no heads up? She looks around the room at so many faces she’s come to know and love. “But why?” she asks.
Garcia’s face softens. “Because we love you, silly. I mean, everyone here does, clearly. A whole lot. And there were at least twelve more people I invited who couldn’t make but really wanted to be here. Expect emailed well-wishes from them soon.”
At a complete loss for words, she turns to Luke. He pulls her into a gentle embrace. “If you really don’t like parties, I promise to never do this again. But I want you to have one day where you feel special. I want you to know how much everyone here cares about you, and I want to celebrate the fact that you exist. Because I’m pretty happy that you were born today, and I’m even happier that you’re still here. I love you, Y/N. We all do.”
“I love you, too,” she says, fighting back tears. He kisses her forehead, and then all too soon she is being pulled away to socialize. Everyone seems so happy to see her. Everyone has kind things to say and jokes to tell and things to catch up on. There’s enough food to feed a small army, and soon everyone is eating and mingling and their apartment is filled with the pleasant sound of easy laughter and the thumping tail of a happy dog receiving all the attention she could dream of from Garcia and the two twin boys. They go through the ritual of lighting candles on Garcia’s giant pink cake and singing to Y/N, and for once she doesn’t hate it. She looks at the faces of all these people over the glow of the candles, singing to her just a bit out of tune, but looking at her with so much love. She closes her eyes and makes a wish and blows out the candles.
As Reid cuts the cake in the most mathematically equivalent ratio possible and Rossi helps hand it out, Luke pulls her aside. “I know that there’s some other gifts for you,” he explains, “but I helped put this one together, and it’s from all of us.” He hands her a small gift-wrapped rectangle and she opens it carefully. It’s a little salmon-colored notebook with her name on the front. Curious, she opens it, expecting to see blank pages. Instead, the pages are filled with handwritten notes that have been pasted onto them. There’s a note from every single person here, addressed to her. Some are shorter and others are longer, but every one appears to include what they most love about her. There are even a few typed ones that must have been printed out in advance. “Garcia and I made sure everybody signed it before they came, and we collected messages from your friends who couldn’t make it. I know it’s not anything fancy but-”
“Are you kidding?” she asks. “This is the nicest thing anyone has ever given me.”
He smiles, his brown eyes shining, and it makes her heart soar. How lucky is she to have someone that loves her this much? Who would move mountains – under duress, of course – to make her happy like this. “Well that’s not all,” he says. “This one is from me.” It’s not a wrapped gift, but a card with flowers and a cupcake with a heart on the front that says, Happy Sweet Sixteen!
Y/N narrows her eyes in confusion. “Open it,” Luke insists. And so she does. It’s not a typical card – it has an extra page on the inside. And rather than a standard greeting card message, it is entirely covered in Luke’s handwriting. The 16 sweetest things about you, it reads at the top. It’s followed by a numbered list.
You’re the best listener. Anytime I need someone to talk to, you’re willing to sit with me. You pay attention to what people say and you are always happy to be a confidante and friend. I know I can trust you with anything.
You go out of your way to make people feel included.
You’re an exceptional kisser and I don’t have enough words to describe this because every time I kiss you I’m pretty sure my brain short-circuits.
You love well. There is always room in your heart for the people (and dogs) you meet and you always seem to know exactly what will make somebody feel loved when they need it most. You love me despite how much I love my dog.
You are the only person I love as much as I love my dog.
She looks up from the card, teary-eyed. “I can’t keep reading this or I’m going to cry,” she says.
“Well it’s your party, sweetheart” he chuckles. “You can cry if you want.”
She shakes her head. “Mm mm. Not today. Today I just want to be really really happy with the people who make really really happy.” Luke stands by her side as Garcia urges her to open gifts and eat cake with everyone. The frosting is nearly as delicious as the moment feels. Rossi brings out the wine and Y/N excitedly puts on the pair of earrings in Garcia’s large bag of gifts, which happen to be shaped like her favorite candy. And this, she thinks, is better than any party she could have dreamed of in the past. Maybe big parties aren’t always going to be her thing. And maybe birthdays don’t always need to be a huge deal. But it is nice – to be celebrated. To be reminded that she is incredibly loved, even when she herself doesn’t always realize it.
It’s the sweetest of days, and there’s no one else she would rather spend it with.

Tumblr media
A NOS4A2 Review By: Allyssa J. Watkins
Welcome to Christmasland, Victoria Welcome to The End And it's going to be glorious Dare I said, you belonged here with me And it's still true....... When I see your rended head Hanging from The Great Tree How fondly I'll think of you All the magical times we spent How we fought, how you bled Blood droplets like breadcrumbs Scarlet against the snow How I trapped you in my ice maze That look on your face Pleading for me to let her go I ALREADY HAVE YOU Stupid Girl How frivolous your sacrifice I'll strike her down Without thinking twice How many Wretched McQueens do I have to kill? For you to CARE what Wayne wants, how he feels? It's selfish to hold on To the child you love, only when he's gone. You'll die here, and so will the McQueen name Good riddance I say But fear not, My Dear I'll take good care of Wayne I'll give him a shiny new one Far more suited to this wondrous place Who do you want to be, Wayne? Say it with me Four letters, and it's done Why don't you spell it out for your Mom? Can you guess what comes next? Come boy, don't be shy........ I'll help you decide This isn't homework, this is fun! Something special between us That she can't wreck Welcome Home, My Son Wayne M-A-N-X
OH HOLY NIGHT!!!!! My ENTIRE body is humming, the dead heat of summer ALIVE with the magic of Christmas!!! Is there such a thing as a Christmasland Afterglow!? Because I have it, I feel....... RADIANT!!!! I've pranced around in a daze, in a December DREAM of bright coloured glisten, and a festive world, I ache to call my own, singing for anyone that will listen!!!! I never thought I'd say this, but shockingly, impossibly....... My beloved Sleigh House has been dethroned, and WELCOME TO CHRISTMASLAND has just been crowned my FAVOURITE episode of NOS4A2 of all time, beyond anything my own Creative desire could conjure!!! It's an unforgettable EXPERIENCE. It's a transcendent EVENT, bright shining, this night divine, the PERFECT date with Charlie Manx!!! Thrills become chills, dream becomes disaster, in this sleighcoaster ride of gripping emotion, dastardly duels, and devastating betrayal!!! The highest peaks, taking us up and up, ascending through the stars to the winking moon, the sharpest curves, the breathless rush of an exhilarating joyride through a surreal dream come true. in both eerily dazzling visual, and electrifying plot. Hold on, Creatives......... It's the ride of your life.
Christmasland. Like the shiniest, most beautifully wrapped gift beneath the tree, left unopened, has always presented the most intriguing mystery. Spoken about in hushed tones, in both reverence, and wonder, hatred, and horror to baffling extremes, it's NOS4A2's best kept secret. The missing piece, the final destination. For two seasons we've heard the tale about dashing Father Christmas, riding high in his ebony sleigh, all to save the children of the world, and give them Christmas every day...... But thus far, this winter wonderland has been kept firmly in the mystery box. A flash of colored shine here, a scrap of ribbon there, a quick jaunt in and out of the towering twin candy cane gates, special cargo in tow, and then we're off again. At times, it's been maddening, and I just ached to see it, SO badly!!! Now I can finally say, after two seasons of festive teases, it was everything Charlie promised, and so much more than I could have ever imagined, INFINITELY worth the wait, the hype, and the conflict!!! I am thankful too, that our esteemed writers were sly enough to hold back all this time, and then, having driven us mad with the waiting, swung wide the gates for the BIG reveal, letting the glowing enchantment and happy wonder of Christmasland overwhelm the senses all at once. You feel welcomed, you feel accepted, and once you've seen it, you'll never want leave........
Welcome to Christmasland, Creatives!!! You're very much in the moment, swept up in the full Christmasland experience, as the cheerful holiday music heralds your arrival!!! You even feel like you're there, in the backseat of the Wraith alongside Wayne, the shot in his perspective, as you go through the gates with Charlie at the wheel!!! I love it when NOS4A2 does this kind of immersive cinematography, putting us in the story, for being a Creative is all about making the fantasy a reality!!! For a boy that's never had a Christmas, who associates the holidays with his mother's depression, drinking herself to death, destroying any and all decoration, Christmasland is a FEAST for Wayne's eyes, a forbidden joy, and it shines on his face, mouth falling open, tongue sticking out, the cascade of coloured lights reflected off the Wraith's window. "Welcome to Christmasland, Wayne," Charlie chortles, as the wonderstruck lad, stars in his eyes, hops out of the car, greeted by a throng of eager vampire children. Charlie waves at them, his grin resplendent, and lovingly he calls to them as they surround him. "My Little Ones, how I've missed you all!!!"
It's a beaming joy for me to see Charlie like this, so in his element, so ALIVE, happy and playful, ready to share his world with the special little boy he has come to love like a son. As his other children clamber around Wayne, fighting over him, each urging him to play a different game, he smiles, hand raised to calm them, not wanting to overwhelm the dear little lad, and is the picture of fatherhood, as he says with gentle authority, "Now, now there will be plenty of time for all of it, after Millie gives him the grand tour. " Oddly enough, Christmasland's First Child neglects to welcome the boy her father has chased so tirelessly, braving all manner of wretched McQueens to procure, and while he veils it well, you can sense his disappointment. "Well then, it's your lucky day, Wayne. It's not every child that gets a private tour from Father Christmas, himself," He crows, deciding to shrug off Millie's slight...... for now. The vampire children oooh and ahhh, which I found just too adorable. He's magic to them, you can tell!!! "Let's go find you a more exciting costume!" Charlie coos with a sweet eyebrow raise, and I am DEAD as he lovingly tousles Wayne's hair!!!!
Can I just say, I love, love, LOVED this opener with all of my giddy, affectionate, Manx-loving heart!?!? I always thought the interactive Charlie Dream in, "Bruce Wayne McQueen," would forever be my favourite opener, but there is so much frolicking joy, and all kinds of warm fuzzies in this one, as Charlie dotes upon Wayne, charming as ever, helping him pick out his extra special Christmasland costume!!! I LOVED IT, my eyes welling up, as what I suspected all along to be true, couldn't be more adorably obvious. While it began as a revenge plot, taking Wayne, he has become so precious to Charlie, and the adoration that he has for this dear little boy is that of the proudest father, loving him, heart and soul, as his own son. In that moment I knew...... Charlie Manx would never let him go....... Oh my gosh, you guys, it's just all so CUTE, Charlie being patient and coaxing with Wayne, even though he's reluctant to give up his space pajamas, shyly informing Charlie that his mom got them for him for his birthday. Charlie sympathizes at first, and then explains that these are for bedtime, and there are no bedtimes in Christmasland, just staying up all night, playing games and riding rides. (Seriously, Baby, SIGN ME UP!!!!)
He knows Wayne so well, despite the short time they have spent together, he knows his greatest dreams, the things he loves the most, and he wants so badly to bring them to life for him, ever the attentive father. "At the peak of the sleighcoaster, you can almost reach out and touch the stars. The very moon, itself. You could be a real life astronaut......" He says dreamily with an encouraging elbow jab, making Wayne smile, and I swear I could feel my heart melting like snow. I especially loved all the little details in this scene!!! The way MANX on the astronaut costume is spelled out in NASA lettering, how the other patch even says, "Manx Moon Mission," because Charlie's likeness is beautifully illuminated in the Christmasland Moon. And the way Charlie even has an astronaut's helmet ready, presenting it to Wayne, with a flourish and a flip!!!. I found myself so in awe at the care, the devotion, he's put into these costumes, and I couldn't help but muse at all the possibilities, and which I would have chosen as an eight year old!!! I was, however, extremely nervous when he gave him the scissors, wrapped up nice in a bow, which I now see as some rather excellent, utterly chilling foreshadowing...... But luckily, this is eclipsed by something even more heart racing, in my favourite part of my favourite opener, in my favourite episode!!! (Seriously Charlie, did you write this whole episode just to dazzle me!?)
To be officially inducted into Christmasland, every child must write their name in the registry book. Wayne writes his first name in bright red ink, and then hesitates, pen paused mid-air, struggling with what to write next. "McQueen just...... doesn't feel right anymore, does it?" Charlie coos with sneaking revel. "This isn't homework, this is fun!" He persuades, enthused. "It's okay, I'll help you......" My heart quickens, chills skittering across my skin, already knowing what my sneaky boy is up to!!! "M-A-N-X," Charlie says coolly, eyebrow raised something sinister, and I can't breathe, the way he spells it out, with that exhilarated rasp, irresistibly lingering on the, "X!" Charlie takes such pleasure in naming this boy in particular, the son of his scathing arch rival, as his own. Wayne eagerly writes it out just as Charlie instructs him, the now miniature Manx, beaming at him with a toothy, vampire grin. "Manx, Wayne Manx!!!!"
All of the smug satisfaction he took in striking the name McQueen from the record, falls away at this happy declaration, and I really did cry, so touched, as Charlie gazes back at him, dark eyes glistening with vulnerable emotion, a tremble in his voice, as he says it. "Welcome home, My Son....." A slow pan back to the book reveals that all of them, every child in Christmasland, has taken their father's name, and the eerie music wants me to be chilled to the bone, but instead, I'm so ridiculously giddy. All the naysayers back in season one, who said Charlie doesn't care what happens to the children he takes, after he drains them of their youth, can be damned. Charlie LOVES his babies, and it's never been more evident than now, in this beautiful gesture, bestowing them with his last name. (Can I please have it too, Love?)
The happy, romping joy of Christmasland tears away as we are thrown back into the solemn silence of Chris' death scene. Okay...... I consider this episode iridescently perfect, my wildest dreams made real, but I do have one very furious complaint. I HATE the way the aftermath, or should I say, lack thereof, of Chris' death was handled!!!! Yes, I understand that time is of the essence here, that we've got to get to Christmasland post haste to save Wayne, that it's the number one priority right now. But GOD, Vic, your father just DIED, he was MURDERED right in front of you, SAY SOMETHING!!!!! Ughhhh it's just all so apathetic. And confusing. I cried for days, almost the entire week after Chris died, and here Vic is so..... okay? Apparently her father's death affected me, more than her!? What!? Even Lou, God love him, drapes his coat over Chris' body, without shedding a tear. Are you KIDDING me!? Lou, our sweet, sentimental, Teddy Bear Man, lovable, fluffy, deep-feeling Lou doesn't cry here!? I get that he'd only just met Chris, but then again, this is the father of the woman he loves. Maybe he's trying to be strong for her, but it just seemed oddly out of character for the both of them. I wanted a moment, however fleeting, where they said something nice about Chris, where Lou held her as she knelt by her father's body, spoke to him, and wept, and most importantly forgave him. She does mention something about not wanting to leave him out there alone, but it's so nonchalant, such an afterthought.
I did, however, absolutely ADORE the romance in this scene between Vic and Lou.
"Lou Carmody, you are the best man I have ever known, and I'm thankful every day that Wayne has your heart."
Lou and Vic's love has always been so warm, so comfortable, joking, laughing, like a warm sweater that hugs you, and I love that! But this, right here, was the first time that I felt that exquisite ache between them, that desperate longing, that spark that great loves are made of.
"Kiss me, just kiss me," Vic laughs breathlessly, and this kiss hits something powerful, between the danger that awaits and the love that's just been professed. Vic is not a super sentimental person, so it was really wonderful to see her, giddy like this, a woman in love as she looks over her shoulder on her bike, her smile indestructible.
I love Maggie here too, she's not taking no for an answer, and OMG was I the only one that FORGOT Mags was hunting the Wraith even before she met Vic!? Confounding to think there was a time when Vic and Charlie weren't a thing, battling across worlds!!!! That it was once just a fabulously eccentric librarian, asking her scrabble bag questions about a strange, black car.
"Forget the Wraith!!! We're going to blow up Christmasland!!!" Maggie cries triumphant, and there's something about seeing it, this impenetrable place, this frosty fortress, "CHRISTMASLAND," scrawled in that iconic green spray paint on the Shorter Way wall. She's really doing it. Vic's storming Christmasland, and hell's coming with her. Charlie Manx BEWARE.
There's so much to gush about in this episode, it really did feel like Christmas Morning, breathlessly tearing open surprise after surprise!!! Charlie not knowing about the ghost resurrection of Sleigh House was a SHOCK, a staggering TWIST of the most inspired BRILLIANCE!!! Where Christmasland is his dream, Sleigh House is his long repressed nightmare, lurking in the shadow of it, his own personal shop of horrors. I was STUNNED. I thought Charlie had recreated it himself, from memory, resurrecting his dead wife, but whether to have a piece of her, of it, some semblance of the wonderful life he'd lost, or to torture her, keeping her locked away inside, I couldn't decide!!! Charlie's face falls as he sees it, aghast, stumbling through the darkest remnants of his memories, and my heart panged for him, needing to console him, having never seen him so frightened, so tremulous, so...... vulnerable. He's terrified out of his mind. Shrinking back against the wall, his chest shuddering as his worst childhood trauma, Mr. Tim, calls out to him, haunting, and for a moment, he's that helpless little boy again, retreating back inside himself, begging the voice to stop. But even Mr. Tim cannot compare to the vengeful apparition waiting upstairs........
Cassie Manx, a ghastly vision, beautiful and terrible, in a white gown, with her mangled face, and fierce, glassy eyes, appears, and Charlie's heart stops, his lips trembling on her name as he falls back, horrified, against the closet.
"Come now, Charles. You know I've always been here...... nagging at you from the back of your mind, like a song you can't get out of your head......"
Cassie puts the needle down on the Victrola, and forcibly takes a dismayed Charles into her arms. "I'll lead this time," She hisses sardonically, and I can't help but notice the paralyzing parallels between this, and his dance with Jolene. He was so commanding, so haughty, seductive, dangerous, somehow both gentle and aggressive, as he forced her to dance with him. Here, it is Mrs. Manx that is the aggressor, not just in the way she yanks him about the room, erratic, threatening, but in the merciless accusations, that she wields like a knife. "You always were such a terrible dancer, Charles, my father paid for classes, but it didn't help. That's all you've ever done, spin us around in circles." I'm so torn, because Cassie is a blinding FORCE, a fearsome apparition, finding in death, the words, the voice, she didn't have in life, punishing and mesmerizing, making Charlie suffer, degrading him, each facing their demons in each other, in this dance with death. But again, my heart BLEEDS for my beautiful boy in his admonishment, called a failure of a man, a selfish husband, and careless father. (Also, I'm sorry, Cassie, but DAMN your ex husband CAN dance, I've seen it!!!!)
"You say that Christmasland is a safe haven for children, but really it's a place for you to escape yourself, a place where you are not a failure, where you are not a coward who devoured his own family, to FEED his insatiable ego."
Charlie's voice cracks, as he raises his protest, falling back against the wall, Cassie caressing his face with sinister intent, as he closes his stricken eyes. "That is why it will all turn to STATIC." I shiver with the frigid tension between them, and Charlie shivers too, beneath her fingernails, as she gets under his skin, both of us destroyed by these words, and all I want to do is run, pull him into my arms, soothe his trembling fear!!! And yet..... part of me is marveling at this terrifying creature, who could make even Charlie Manx afraid, leave him wrought with guilt, and in this moment, oddly enough, Cassie Manx has never been more ALIVE.
My favourite part of this scene, was how each of them were fighting to protect Millie from the other. An avenging ghost, and a Supernatural Strong Creative Vampire, and yet in this scene especially, we see them as what they are at the heart. Parents. In the midst of all the paranormal activity, there's something so human, so domestic about it, arguing what's best, who's best for their daughter. "How's that gonna happen, Cassie?" Charles snarls, the cast spell wearing off. "I'M IMMORTAL!!!" I loved that, his nostrils flaring, protectively pulling Millie to his side. This is beautiful writing and such a powerful scene, I was entranced.
There was one thing, however, that I thought was incredibly foolish of Cassie...... "Vic McQueen did...... She's already here." I wanted to scream. WHY Cassie!? WHY would you TELL Charlie that Vic had breeched the walls of Christmasland!? What MADNESS!!! I get that she wants to see his face when she reveals Vic, the woman he hates most, second only to his mother, has done the impossible, but the ONE thing Vic has going for her in the Christmasland strike, is the element of surprise. Now, even that's gone....... Instead, I would have had Cassie help Vic by distracting Charlie, delaying him in the house, and then have Charlie figure it out the longer it goes on, realize why she's been so desperate to keep his company!!! Now, THAT would have been AMAZING!!! I did love that last line however, as Charlie tears out of Sleigh House.
"Go, before Vic McQueen releases the white static that takes us all!!!!" Holy epic foreshadowing, Cass........ WOW!!!!
The scenes with Vic and Maggie storming Christmasland are incredible, and I LOVED how Maggie shouting, "Red Light!!!" a very human trick, worked perfectly on the vampire girl!!! Well DONE, NOS4A2!!!! I also loved how Vic KNEW Wayne was going to pick the astronaut costume, even though this little space man wasn't him!!! Thus far, between the lofty sleighcoaster, the thousands of glittering lights, and the gingerbread houses, covered in powder snow, Christmasland has been a luminous dream, a paradise for the lost. But all too quickly, as the girls near a looming pine, ominous in size and appearance, we are introduced to the first of the nightmare elements. My stomach churned, sickened, as I saw them, human heads hanging from The Great Tree like ornaments, shriveled with ghoulish expressions. What the HELL!? Maggie shares my horror, and as her hand flies to cover her mouth, gagging, I just know...... Joe. I felt the tears fall, horrified and angry that Charlie had done this to Joe, my heart sinking, staring into his empty, sad eyes. The rile in Charlie's cry, sounds the beginning of the end. "VICTORIA MCQUEEN, Welcome........ to Christmasland!!!!! The showdown is about to begin.
Charlie Manx, having shaken off the horrors of Sleigh House, now grins smugly, the coloured lights flickering behind him, catching his glossy hair in their glow, his black coal eyes, flashing mischief and danger, as he stands with them, his children, the New Family Manx. With the daughter that he's always loved on one side, and the son he's never had on the other, Charlie Manx has everything he's ever wanted, and now, as Vic McQueen stands defiant, his opposite, her promising death is just the topper on the Christmas Tree.
"Let's go, Wayne, c'mon," Vic calls out to her son, but the waver in her voice, proves that she already knows it's not going to be that easy.
"But he LIKES it here, at home with me, and all his new friends....... Charlie's voice begins light, and jovial, in a spectacularly good mood, and then hardens, accusingly. "Why would you SPOIL that!?"
"Don't listen to a word he says, Wayne, do you hear me?" Vic's anger and frustration starts to bleed through her voice, and the McQueen turned Manx, doesn't answer.
"Wayne McQueen!!!"
"That's NOT my name!!!" He shoots back with his mother's defiance. And here, I fall even more in LOVE with Charlie Manx, besotted, because he has the CUTEST freaking laugh, I have EVER heard in my life!!! It's pure music, that darling, boyish giggle, eyes widening, half surprised, half mad with adoration for his devoted son. Laughing in her face, eyes dancing, seeming to say, "Told you so," Charlie dismisses her charges of hurting him, being a monster, with an adorable, indignantly yelled RUBBISH!!! However, just as he's gained a son, he seems to be losing a daughter.......
"My bridge didn't get me here on its own, Charlie. Wayne, ask her. If she's so happy here, why does she want a ride out from me?"
Ooooh PLOT TWIST, Charlie!!! Charlie's laughing features, somber, intense with this revelation. Millie asking him to go with her to the real world, was one thing...... but asking VIC MCQUEEN for her aid, helping secret her inside, defying her own father, was the rebellious princess' act of treason against the Christmasland King.
Vic continues to appeal to Millie, pleading for her help, encouraging her to take back what her father's taken away from her, and while you can see the words' effect on Millie, her eyes sad, and emotional, she cannot speak against him, not yet. Charlie knows not to let Vic see him sweat, and he doesn't even bat an eye as he muses coolly.
"Why don't we let Wayne choose? Do you want to go with...... HER," he snarks disdainfully, trying not to roll his eyes, as Vic smiles hopeful at her son. "Or do you want to stay with me, in Christmasland.......?
All eyes on Wayne, and Charlie's smirking, because he already knows what his darling boy is going to say, although I, myself, was rather stunned at the way he said it........
"Why would we EVER leave? We JUST got here," He frowns, his tiny voice cruel, and condescending. Whoah, Wayne. That's cold.......
I LOVED this scene, the palpable tension, the scathing betrayals, in both the McQueen and Manx camps, as Charlie and Vic's kids switch sides, turning on their parents, moving across the board like chess pieces. I also noticed how Charlie stood closer to Wayne than Millie, as the scene went on, and I couldn't help but wonder...... as much as she aches to be her human self again, and grow up to go on adventures, perhaps it was also jealousy that fueled this drastic turn around. Something about what she said to him, earlier in the Ice Maze...... "I have ENOUGH friends," and how she went out of her way not to be there when Wayne arrived, and how Charlie said, "Why don't we let WAYNE, choose," dismissing her own professed desire to Vic, without a second address. Millie has been her father's sugar plum for centuries...... what will happen now that his son has become the apple of his eye?
"Scissors for the DRIFTER, everyone!!!!" Charlie yells to his little army, that delectable rile in his voice, as his fanged children descend on Vic and Maggie!!! Charlie's done playing, toying, teasing, he's kept one McQueen in, and it's time to go for the kill, win the game, and take the other McQueen OUT!!! Vic and Maggie dashing through the snow, dodging little vampires, setting bombs all the way, and the chase is ON!!! I was so THRILLED that horrid, appalling tree was the first thing to go, exploding into flames, victoriously felled!!!! Yes!!! THANK YOU, MAGGIE!!! This one's for JOE!!! I had NO idea though, that setting fire to Christmasland would hurt Charlie the same way damage done to the Wraith does, and somehow it seemed even WORSE!!! Charlie's nose bleeds and he coughs into his hand, staggering into the toy shop, and I don't know who I'm more afraid for........
Scissors for the Drifter rages on, Maggie and Vic sneaking their way through the vast, dazzling array of carnival games, and racing amusement rides, blanketed in fresh snow. The Red Light Girl from earlier, sidles up to Maggie, and all of us elicit a collective gasp, as she slips the scrabble bag from Maggie's coat pocket. "Give it back..... Red Light, Red Light," Maggie warns, trying not to panic, but you can see it in her eyes....... That bag is everything to her, and she doesn't know who she is without it.......... "New game!" The other girl exclaims with claws and a growl, and her and Mike play keep away with the bag, much to Maggie's frantic dismay. I was so relieved, and tremendously appreciated NOS4A2's approach to the Found Children of Christmasland, how fun and games were their first instinct, and maiming and murder were more of a side quest.
Meanwhile, Vic, having escaped the receding vampire throng with her life, unscathed, save one bite, isn't giving up. There's no WAY in HELL she's going anywhere without Wayne You'll-Never-Be-A-Manx McQueen. In the midst of the death defying chase, however, I was so hoping Vic would look up once, and see Charlie's face in the moon!!! Making a face of her own, mouth open in disgust, I can just hear her!!!! What the HELL-!? I would literally have given anything for her reaction to that!!! She spies Wayne, determined, coaxing him, and he looks at her maniacally, with his new father's malicious smirk, as he hurries away, making her chase him, fleeing into a vast, seemingly endless maze, made entirely of ice.
As we rise to the scintillating climax, we find the children's betrayal against their feuding parents has taken a defining, final turn. Charlie and Millie's scene in the toyshop was SENSATIONAL!!! Mattea Conforti plays Charlie's daughter with such conviction, and I am SO impressed by the emotional range, the rare talent and prowess of expression, she has at this young of an age!!! Charlie coaxes Millie in his sweet, fatherly way at first, trying to govern his anger, as he tells her about the demise of that horror show Christmas tree.
"The Great Tree........ We dreamt it up together, branch, by branch, and now it's gone."
Millie seems altogether unmoved, and if there was ever a moment that she is so over Christmasland, it's now. Charlie tries to reason with her, tries to accuse Vic for his daughter's crimes against him.
"You are not the first to be twisted into knots by Vic McQueen...... Don't you see? She's POISONED you and your mother against me, made you doubt your own FATHER!!!"
Millie begs him to let Wayne go, let Vic leave with her son, and asks him to stay with her, no more new kids in Christmasland. Charlie hesitates. "I have work to do. And that wouldn't be very fair to Wayne......" Charlie's not giving up his son, not even if it means losing his daughter, and Millie knows it......
"I'm not enough...... I never was. I begged you to leave with me, and you said no. Now, I ask you to stay, and you won't do that either?"
I teared up like crazy, she's so heartbroken, so emotionally wrought in this moment, and I saw a little girl, who would give up all of Christmasland's ornamental wonders, her birthday, and all of her friends, all of her dreams, just to have her father's sole attention.
Charlie's rage starts to take over, veiling his pain, trying to inspire Millie to action, win her back, promising her all will be forgiven, if she takes her sword, and hangs Vic's head from a new tree.
"You want to hang Vic's head on a tree? Go DO it yourself......... I'm LEAVING."
Charlie snaps, seizing her arm, nostrils flaring, the pain feeding his fury. "I am your FATHER!!! You will DO exactly as I SAY!!" A lot of people cried out against this action, of him forcibly taking her arm, but I saw it less as a show of patriarchal aggression, and much more as him desperately clinging to her, out of fear. She's his joy, his everything, and he doesn't want her to go, not now, not ever.
"You can't stop me...... unless........ you'd never raise a hand to a child, would you, Father?"
He lets her go at once, unnerved by her clever challenge, and watches heartbroken, as she takes her leave of him. Fuming, he snatches up the shiny, silver autopsy hammer off the table, his favourite toy in the shop, and leaves the store, just as the candy shop blows up in a splinter of wood and a burst of orange fire. He coughs, bent over, his hair pulling loose from his coif, his nose bleeding. Charlie and his dream world are unraveling fast.
"I want to play a game with you........"
Back in the ice maze, Wayne approaches his mother, and I have a BAD feeling, his voice eerie, and unkind........ Danger, Vic, Danger....... I whisper, the frosty air ripe with foreboding.
Vic smiles, fighting the tears, saying she'll play any game he wants, even his NBA basketball game, and she'll let him whoop her butt. Wayne resists, and I think his resentment starts to show, having never had a Christmas, having to always watch her leave him, no matter how good he's been.
"You know what Christmas every day means, don't you? No 4th of July, no friends, no sunshine, no summer, no swimming, no hotdogs, no fireworks. That was our favourite day in the whole wide world, remember? We would go to the lake with your dad, and watch the bright colours explode in the stars in the sky........ You always loved it."
I cried. Vic is so not a sentimental person, but here she is, so sweetly pouring her heart out to her son, and it is beautiful, and so moving, as she lets herself love him, be vulnerable in that love, and let that vulnerability make her strong. "Even though it's impossible, I'm here, fighting Charlie Manx because I made a promise to you, and I'm done breaking promises to you, Baby," Wayne's eyes soften, looking again like his human self, her words striking every chord, finally breaking Charlie's thrall, reaching him, and Vic cries, overwhelmed with the love she's let herself feel, pulling him in for hug, cradling the back of his head so tenderly. I don't think we could have ever prepared ourselves.......... for what came next. The music swells to its emotional height, and then deadens, a swift stab of metal scissors, and I feel their sharp pierce, leaving a sucking hole in my own chest, my breath strangled, as Wayne STABS his mother with the scissors, running off, laughing, with the cheerful exclaim of, "I win Scissors for the Drifter!!! Et tu, Bats!?!? It's a SHOCKING, tragic scene, that leaves you with a hollow fear. Is there any of Wayne left to save?
Ahhhhh but the BEST is yet to come, Kids!!! That scintillating climax, I promised you, the most chilling of all of Christmasland's thrills? It's here....... It's fire and ice, and all the sinister deliciousness you've been craving, and it's my FAVOURITE scene in an episode full of sparkling snow white perfection. Maggie, after chasing Red Light Girl into the Ice Maze, and taking her bag back, is saved by a staggering Vic, and our two dauntless heroines, navigate their way through Charlie's mind-bending, frozen labyrinth.
"You're bleeding......" Vic manages, out of breath, still clutching the stab wound on her side.
"YOU'RE bleeding......" Maggie counters cleverly, and it's a really sweet moment amidst all the screaming chaos, as the girls laugh together, Maggie supporting Vic, as they stumble and search for the exit. The feeling is mutual. It's time to get the HELL out of Christmasland.
Drops of blood, crimson stark against the blinding white, tall black leather boots, a supple leather glove reaching down to touch the blood, brushing the snow. Charlie.
The girls hurry as fast as their injuries will allow, crying for joy when they see the exit, both bitten and bruised, one brutally stabbed, chancing a glance over their shoulders when they hear a noise. But when they look back, the inviting exit is gone, and in its place, a looming wall of solid ice.
"I just saw it, it was there!!!" Maggie cries bewildered, holding Vic upright, desperately confused.
Charlie, nose bleeding, a devastatingly handsome dark figure, creeps up behind them, hammer in hand, so happy to explain.
"That's the beauty of an inscape. Everything here is a product of my........ imagination." He simpers sinisterly, and in a move that is straight up SYLAR, playfully brings the hammer to tap his forehead. "Not fluid, like water, but semi-solid...... like, say...... ICE," Charlie pounds the hammer into the ice once, teasing and deadly, the music shivering, as he advances on them, trapping them in a dead end.
"Ironic, isn't it, Vic...... When you had Wayne in your life, you were always looking for an exit, and now you're here, looking for him. Longing for forgiveness, which you'll never find, just the way your father never found it. It's a McQueen family tradition........ dying in dead ends!!!"
Another searing truth exposed in the midst of a good seethe, and Vic, rather than spitting curses, reining down on him full force, pleads with him instead, tears in her eyes, her voice tremulous. "Let her go, Manx!!! You can have me-"
Charlie Manx snarls, his eyes murderous with dark fury, thrusting the hammer at Vic, breathing hard, rasping.
"I ALREADY HAVE YOU!!!!!"
I can honestly say, that was the SEXIEST damn thing I've EVER seen in my entire life, my whole body went numb, quivering as I touched my heart, barely able to whisper, "Yes!!!! YES you do!!!!" How the HELL that ice maze didn't melt in the face of that kind of LETHAL heat, will forever be a Christmasland Mystery. There aren't even words, clumsy, coherent, or otherwise, for how HOT I was for Charlie Manx in this moment, melting in his thrall.
Without another word, he pulls back the hammer, and strikes Maggie with a deafening CRACK, and she goes down HARD, moaning in anguish. Charlie's spell shivers around me, as the fire just ignited, is introduced to the coldest fear. Not again...... No, no, no, Charlie, PLEASE GOD don't kill, Maggie!!!! I can't do it, not again, NOT HER, no, please, I'm still grieving Chris, Baby, STOP!!!" My heart on pause, and Charlie hesitates, before the bomb beneath the sleigh coater EXPLODES, setting off a chain reaction, bomb, after bomb, billowing smoke, hungry, licking flames, and I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little sad, the shining dream becoming an inferno nightmare, as Christmasland burns into a firestorm.
Charlie SCREAMS in excruciating agony, aging rapidly, hammer fumbling from his grasp, into the blanket of snow, crouching in anguish, and Vic doesn't hesitate to pluck up the hammer, and crack him HARD across the skull, knocking him out cold. With a grunt of frustration, seething hatred boiling up from her whole body, she smashes the hammer against Charlie's bloodied skull again, and again....... and again.
"Vic, you have to STOP! It won't do any good, you KNOW that!!! He's just an old bitch, that's all he ever was....."
Okay, seriously Mags, I love you, but can people just STOP calling Charlie a BITCH!? First Bing and now Maggie!? Ughhh, I HATEEE it so much! Second...... for the LOVE of GOD, Victoria McQueen, thank you for stopping that brutal smashing of my boy's skull, but, whatever you do...... DON'T DROP THAT FREAKING HAMMER!!!!! She does. She drops it. WHY does she drop it, why not take it with her!? Why leave Charlie's favourite toy behind for him to murder her with!?!?
While we're at it, I have another question!!! As Charlie searches frantically through the crowd of running scared vampire children, the park engulfed in flames, asking each one that passes, if they've seen Millie, WHY do they not answer him!? He's Charlie Freaking Manx, their famed Father Christmas!!! He's like a rock star, a saviour to them, whyyyyy won't they help him!? So Maddening. I was also surprised that Millie's ornament was her mother's golden cat brooch. After seeing the silver moon one, in "Gunbarrel," last year's season finale, that looked like Charlie, hanging on one of the trees outside the ruins of Sleigh House, I thought for SURE that it was hers!!! Who else's could it be!?
I CHERISHED the absolute MOM Moment Vic has at the end of this episode, where she's just so DONE!!!! She doesn't care that the world's on fire, doesn't care that her son is a soulless vampire that just stabbed her, she's freaking HAD it!!!
"BRUCE WAYNE MCQUEEN!!!!" She yells in unhinged reprimand, finding her Mom voice, as she charges him, wrests the scissors out of his hands, hurling them away, and hauls him up off the ground, even while he's kicking and screaming!!! He's surly in his protest, yelling out how much he'll hate her, and never forgive her, if she takes him away, calling out for Charlie to come save him!!! That was so freaking fantastic, again, such a raw, real human moment in the midst of the supernatural cacophony. The coloured lights flicker before they go dead, plunging Christmasland into complete darkness.
"Christmas is over, isn't it?"
"Yeah Bats..... It's over."
Or is it.......? I have it on good authority, from Father Christmas himself, no less that Christmasland is FOREVER......... Let's hope Charlie Manx and the Wraith are too, as our seductive villain's dreams go up in flames. Here's to the SERIES BEST EPISODE, and to our beloved supernatural fantasy, NOS4A2 getting renewed for SEASON 3!!!! Christmasland in flaming ruin, his son and daughter strewn, both forsaken, Charlie find the Wraith, and save your soul, else your winter reverie will be naught, but a smoking hole. You have to fight, you have to make it!!! Turn the key, Charlie, it's time........ to get CREATIVE!!!!

yuletide letter 2020
Dear Yuletide Writer,
Oh, hello again. I didn’t see you there.
This year, I have transcended earthly desires and struggled to find any fandoms to request. I want nothing. I wish my cat was nominated as a Yuletide fandom so we could all write stories about her life.
Nonetheless, I have some small requests!!!! I believe you can make me happy in ways I’ve never been happy before. I trust you. Happy end of 2020, the cursed year, I hope you are blessed with rest.
My AO3: saezutte
My public twitter: juncassis
My tumblr: here but I do not use tumblr much anymore, sorry.
Do Not Wants
[note: I have no actual triggers, nothing you can write for me will make me any more depressed or anxious than I already am]
Death (of major/important/beloved characters)
Suicide attempts, self-harm
Rape (outright; OK with dub con, manipulation, noncon short of violent-rape-for-violence-only)
Eating disorders, body shaming
Angst without a happy ending, really too much angst at all
Established relationship
Cheating
Actual Unrequited Feelings
Pregnancy (the actual process; breeding kink is fine)
Scat or watersports
Hard BDSM or any kink complicated enough that the characters would have to discuss it ahead of time
Homophobia as a plot device
Excessive attention to identity or politics, sometimes known as “issue fic”
Note on AUs: I am ok with the usual popular AU tropes but I do not want them combined, e.g. A/B/O is fine and coffeeshop is fine, but I don’t want an omega barista getting his scent all over the lattes he makes for some alpha lawyer who comes in every morning. (Ridiculous example, but you get the point.) For AU/modern settings of fandoms with magic, I often like it when the magic is still there in the AU setting. I also like AUs which maintain the general outlines of the character’s relationships, like if the characters are childhood friends in canon, I like to keep that intact.
General preferences:
I am a pretty basic bitch when it comes to fanfic: I like it when two clueless boys pine for each other through some shenanigans and then lock eyes/lips/dicks.
If you fed a neural net every fanfic written in Stargate Atlantis fandom between 2005 and 2010, the result would probably be some nonsense I’d enjoy.
I love many tropes. Tropes! Bed-sharing. Sharing an umbrella. WASHING EACH OTHER’S HAIR? Confessions where they are having an argument and then one of them yells “Because I love you!”
I love situations where characters are forced to spend time in close proximity and find themselves with feelings.
I love fakeness: fake dating, fake marriage, arranged marriage, marriage of convenience, fake lust induced by sex pollen or heats, aliens make them have sex, whatever.
I love porn, if you want to just write me some quick porn, that’s great. I do prefer (per the established relationship DNW above) that it be first time or get together porn. I know that can make it hard to just write porn, but I don’t need much to be convinced of sex.
Nirvana in Fire (TV)
Requested characters: Mei Changsu, Xiao Jingyan
Note: I also love Lin Chen so if you want to write some MCS/LC or LC/Fei Liu or LC/MCS/JINGYAN OT3??? go for it. I am also a Nihuang/Xia Dong shipper so if you want to put that in… somehow… my gay little heart would be happy. I also like Nihuang/MCS/XJY or MNH/MCS + MCS/XJY but I’d like the focus on the men in that case!
I watched this show because someone recommended this show to me as, like, Chinese Game of Thrones but good. I think it’s genuinely one of the best TV shows I’ve ever seen. I love plots and revenge and good people doing bad things for justice. Even the ending is good for me though obviously it left me unsatisfied on several points.
I am deeply into sickly doomed genius MCS and every time he got even more deeply ill, I fell deeper in love. Every time he coughs up blood, my heart would race. I love his terrible schemes and stupid self-sacrificing choices. I find watching this show very soothing because I knew he would always come out on top in his schemes. I trust him. I love handsome clueless Jingyan and how he’s just so good (it’s terrible.) I love his mom and how much he cares for her. I love him but he is useless, he needs his Xiao Shu and I need fanfic to restore him to him.
Note: So my limited research on this says that male/male sex practices were accepted and well-known in this time period in history, so I really don’t want them thinking “oh no what are these weird gay feelings.” There are other barriers to them being together, like a ruler or official being overly attached to one person was considered very bad. I am also a big supporter of the socially-approved polygamy of this time period, so I don’t need Jingyan to refuse to sleep with his wife or something out of loyalty to MCS—he has to do it! Or all their plans are ruined! And he can enjoy spending time with her or the concubines without affecting his feelings for MCS—you could explore that complexity in fic if you like.Prompts:
Mei Changsu isn’t dead, he’s hiding again, Jingyan searches for him
They start having sex during the series, the ending is averted [somehow]
Post-canon, MCS is alive and Jingyan hides him in the palace with his consort/concubines to keep him on as an advisor without anyone objecting
omega verse where MCS was an alpha before he “died" but an omega after he came back.
AU where male/male marriage is customary (maybe aristocratic men are expected to have one male and one female consort?) and so MCS decides the best way to influence and help Jingyan in the capital is by becoming his wife or one of his concubines
anything just get them together and happy.
Tokyo Babylon
Characters: Subaru, Seishiro
I read Tokyo Babylon as a child and I imprinted on it deeply, now I love politics, ghosts, stalking, age differences, magic. Within the CLAMP canon, I love TB for its episodic focus on smaller stories, the commentary on contemporary society, and Seishiro being an outright creep. I love onmyojutsu and exorcism and Subaru’s innocence getting ruined. I love the city of Tokyo (where I currently live! but do not be intimidated, I don’t know the city well because we’ve been in quarantine most of the time I’ve been here and won’t judge you for details.) I’m open to fics that comply with X canon or not.
With Seishiro/Subaru: It’s bad but I love that predator/prey dynamic where the predator ends up being hopelessly entranced/obsessed/in love with the prey. My read was always that Seishiro lost the bet and couldn’t admit it—he’s just, you know, killing twins to avoid dealing with his feelings! Relatable! (?!?!) Subaru, I love particularly in his evolution from innocent to adult in love to betrayed. I’d prefer post-TB fic to during-TB fic (so Subaru knows Seishiro’s deal and loves him anyway.) I am also a fan of Hokuto and you should feel free to bring her back to life to troll if you desire.
Prompts:
AU or reincarnation plot where they are Heian period rival onmyoji
Because this is such a heavily place-based series, if you are a writer who likes to play with details of real life locations, I’d be interested in versions of different “Babylons” if you have an idea for it.
Tragic first times post-TB lol
Seishiro is a virgin the first time they have sex
I’d probably love some fucked up dub con for this, however you want to play it
Honestly, do whatever you want as long as you don’t fuck me over like CLAMP did.
プリティーリズム | Pretty Rhythm
Characters: Hiro, Koji
Pretty Rhythm came to me at a weird time in my life. I lived in a house of spiders in Yokohama and did nothing for eight weeks. King of Prism cheer screening transformed my life and I didn’t even know what it was. Then I got weirdly deep into Rainbow Live and the Pretty Rhythm franchise overall. I am a scientist of prism theory. Idk why I like it, it’s just wholesome and crazy and there are penguins and DJ Koo. I love every TRF song because I’m a 90s gay at heart. It’s truly the end point of all media development. The prism world represents the fearsome power of virtual/digital+real hybrid life. Yes, I know I’ve lost my mind. I went to one of the real Prism Stone stores, the one in Harajuku.
Hiro Hayami: one time a fujoshi asked me to describe what types of anime boys I like and the first type I listed was “prince but bad” and my example was Hiro. Hiro is the crazy gay stalker disaster of my heart. He overcomes great hardship to achieve his dreams and foolishly falls in love along the way and he does everything wrong and Koji keeps leaving him. The moment when Hiro is crowned King of Prism in Pride the Hero was one of the top ten moments of my life. I made friends who don’t even know Japanese watch the movie unsubtitled with me on my birthday.
With Koji, I’m a bit guilty of “I want to give the character I love the most the character he loves the most” so I do like him less (it would be impossible to like him equal to how much I love Hiro). But he has many good points that make him perfect, like how he also sucks underneath his chill exterior. I love to see him go apeshit.
I also love everyone else in Rainbow Live, no exceptions. I love all the girls. If you do write the girls, I would prefer they not be paired with the OTR boys. I would prefer they be paired with each other, any combo is good.
Prompts:
this is the sort of pairing where I love fic where they split up and then 15 years later meet again as washed up has-beens but there’s still time for them to find each other
Canon-compliant companion piece showing the “background” of them getting together romantically over the course of the series.
AU where Koji is a prism world fairy sent to inspire Hiro but Hiro is kind of a mess
dirty, dirty porn… let Hiro get fucked
I have a lot of doujinshi with multiple copies of Hiro (a la the Mugen Hug jump) but I’d like something where Hiro gets overwhelmed by many Kojis
They start fake dating as a publicity stunt and have to keep doing it… especially good if it starts when Koji is at max hating Hiro level
Ring Fit Adventure
Characters: Dragaux, Ring
Keeping this one simple: I like to be encouraged to exercise by a storyline and a trainer that never mentions weight loss, lol. The world is fun and pretty and I love that buff dragon.
AND THEN THE PAIRING. I’m sure Nintendo has some market research that told them a certain subset of users are very motivated by enemies who seemed to once be lovers or best friends. I am that user.
What is up with these two? They were so in love! Now Dragaux is a horrible swole bro (not in a good bro way) and Ring is training me instead? I can’t compete with their love. It’s the only time the game makes me feel inadequate.
You can keep Dragaux and Ring as dragon/ring-like as you like. Obviously I’m down with dragon fucking but you can also make him a human fucker too. I play with Ring on the masculine voice setting for maximum BL vibes as I exercise, but, you know, it’s a ring, I don’t think it has gender. Feel free to incorporate the player or other random characters too.
Prompts:
AU where Dragaux and Ring owned a gym together and Dragaux sold out to a big chain of gyms
What happened between them when Dragaux was still captured, pre-game? Bondage… literally??
Ring is always bossing me to train, but I’m really doing all the work. Why doesn’t he fight Dragaux on his own for once?? (because the sexual tension is too powerful.)
Tragic flashback to their dramatic break-up ending with their present day reconciliation.
Player/Dragaux/Ring threesome??? I’ve unlocked the sexercises???
With all fandoms, you are free to disregard the prompts and do your own thing. If you’re not sure about me, you can probably dm seriesera on twitter, she knows what I’m into.
Well, I suppose that’s all for now. Please stalk me online to get more details on my bullshit. I hope you have a nice time.
Best,
Caitlin

Not necessarily in that order. Or, Squirt squirt squirt squirt. Squirtsquirtsquirtsquirtsquirtsquirtsquirt. Squirt??? SQUIRT!!!!! 7. MistyDeath wrote Sweet (S)talker (NC-17, 10296) Summary: Merlin, he’d stalked the asshole for almost a year, you think Harry would have noticed him tongue fucking sugar quills on the daily! 8. JGogoboots wrote A Holiday in Provence (NC-17, 32201) Summary: Harry Potter is turning 50 years old and feeling lonelier than ever. Divorced, retired, and learning he’s not quite as straight as he thought he was, Harry reluctantly accepts a birthday gift from his friends for a week’s stay at an idyllic French vineyard. Too bad Hermione and Ron neglected to mention that the owner of the winery happens to be a certain quick-witted blond Slytherin… 9. maraudersaffair wrote Paidi's Proper Shag (NC-17, 10531) Summary: Draco works at a fast food restaurant. Harry is his worst customer. 10. simplylegilimenss wrote grant that we may feast (in fellowship) (NC-17, 20388) Summary: When the house elves are on strike given Sundays off, a cooking competition ensues in the Hogwarts kitchens every Sunday. Passionate rivalries turn to passionate friendships. Or could it be something more? Or: Draco can’t cook for shit even though he says he can, Pansy and Blaise are also little shits, Hermione Granger is downright scary, Ronald Weasley totally called it, and Draco really needs to stop checking Harry Potter out every chance he gets. 11. lokiperfect wrote There Used To Be A Lightness (PG-13, 3598) Summary: Down on his luck, Draco Malfoy is trying to find a job. It proves more than unsuccessful. Molly Weasley, with all kids now grown up, is trying to start a restaurant. That proves more successful, and makes them cross paths. Harry Potter, running away from memories of the war, returns to London three years later to discover exactly how things have changed. 12. cubedcoffeecake wrote What Happens at the Milk Bar (doesn’t stay there) (R, 10133) Summary: "Draco, look at me. You talk about Potter all the time. Your complaints about him usually just sound like… Well, you tend to give the impression that you don’t like Potter because you find him distractingly attractive and don’t like that you can’t touch.” Meg and Art nodded sagely as Draco’s jaw dropped. “I—what?” “You’re attracted to Potter, Dray,” Meg helpfully supplied. 13. Bangyababy wrote Promising Produce (NC-17, 3068) Summary: Harry knew it was a stupid idea, but Harry'd never been one for listening, even to himself. Now he's standing in Exam Room 3 trying to explain to Draco Malfoy why there's a carrot stuck up his bum. 14. harryromper wrote Let him lead me to the banquet (PG-13, 16066) Summary: The worst part is Harry’s got no idea why Malfoy keeps sending him invites. He’s never replied to a single one. And if the whole dinner is as exclusive and sought-after as the Prophet keeps breathlessly reporting, then presumably the only reason Malfoy wants him there is in his capacity as the Chosen One. So, really, he can fuck right off. Harry doesn’t care about Draco Malfoy’s redemption tour. And he’s certainly not going to help him with it. 15. AhaMarimbas wrote The Godric's Hollow Wizarding Parents Association (NC-17, 26298) Summary: When Draco decided to move his small family to Godric’s Hollow, little did he know he’d have to deal with misleading television programs, some surprisingly friendly neighbours and a bit of peanut butter. Okay, lots of peanut butter. 16. Ingi wrote haunt yourself and refuse to be buried (G, 3354) Summary: Harry Potter is eighteen years old and he is not okay. 17. whiskyandwildflowers wrote Feeling Rough, Feeling Raw (In the Prime of My Life) (NC-17, 7570) Summary: In which Harry has a quarter-life crisis and winds up at a health spa, Malfoy dresses like a cult leader, and everyone consumes a lot of raw greenery. 18. Goldentruth813 wrote Boiling Point (R, 42882) Summary: Ferveret - n. boiling point After an Auror raid gone wrong, Draco ends up trapped in a dodgy safehouse with nothing but Harry Potter’s dubious company and a dwindling supply of food. With only each other and the walls surrounding them, they're forced to confront their past and their feelings which have long been threatening to boil over. 19. PollyWeasley wrote Potter’s Delicacies (NC-17, 4823) Summary: Draco thinks a quiet life is just what he ever needed in his life. He’s got good friends, a nice independent job as an artist, and an exclusive pâtissier just for himself. He doesn’t think much of why Potter likes to feed him treats so often, he’s just that weird. Even if Draco wants to have something with him, Potter is just a nice, good friend who likes to see him enjoying fancy treats. Right? 20. parkkate wrote A picture of ricecake (NC-17, 7030) Summary: After a night of hot sex, Draco wakes up to the smell of Harry cooking. When he eats his food Draco vows that's it, Harry's making him breakfast forever. 21. crazyparakiss wrote Sweet Relief (NC-17, 1708) Summary: It happens on a Tuesday. The most boring, innocuous day of the week. That’s the day when Draco discovers something delectable, something devious...something fun. 22. DoubleAppled wrote Harry Potter and the Showstopper of Doom (R, 11528) Summary: In which Harry’s an amateur baker, Draco wants him to go on the Great British Bake-Off, Petunia never misses an episode, Sue is a witch, Paul Hollywood is Paul Hollywood, and everyone eats a lot — like a whole lot — of baked goods. 23. postjentacular wrote Tectonic (PG-13, 3296) Summary: In which Draco is the unnoticed centre of attention, Harry's unobservant and, (eventually) they talk. 24. maesterchill wrote Eat Me (NC-17, 10954) Summary: Harry's having a terrible morning. That is, until he receives a curious package at work. Inside are two things: a chocolate model of an erect penis, and a note simply saying ‘Eat Me’ in an elegant, inviting script. And Merlin, he’s hungry. 25. Synonym4Life and GingerTodgers wrote The Fair of Artful Pleasure (F.A.P.) (R, 7363) Summary: F.A.P or the Fair of Artful Pleasure is going as splendidly as Harry could have imagined. Which is not splendidly at all. Which is, in fact, the complete opposite of splendid. Two steps in and he's already traumatised for life. And yet, it still manages to go downhill from there: Malfoy is at the fair and he's making Harry lick lube from dildos in front of an audience. As if that wasn't terrible enough, Harry has feelings. 26. jeni_andtheafterthought wrote Out of the Frying Pan into the Fire (NC-17, 22238) Summary: The war may have ended, but Draco was never able to move on with his life. Having no access to his vault and cut off from his friends and family, he is forced to support himself by working jobs in muggle restaurants. With his luck in the gutter and his flat up in smoke, Draco thinks things can't possibly get worse. Harry offers to help, convincing Draco that things could, in fact, get worse. 27. gracerene wrote The Hand That Feeds You (NC-17, 17371) Summary: Harry needs something only Draco can provide. 28. squadofcats wrote Soup-pocalypse and The Great Curry Cataclysm (NC-17, 104357) Summary: Eleven years after the war, Draco Malfoy leads a quiet, boring, and perfectly respectable life, thanks very much. Or, at least he does, until a sudden and very unexpected veela awakening causes him to throw soup all over Harry Potter in the middle of the Ministry cafeteria. 29. RuArcher (coriesocks) wrote Anyone But Him (NC-17, 19323) Summary: Harry thought going to a Muggle university would be the perfect opportunity for a new start. He hadn’t counted on having Draco Malfoy as a flatmate. 30. Magnolia822 wrote The Great Magic Sex Mushroom Fiasco (NC-17, 6789) Summary: Lost in the Siberian wilderness without food, Aurors Potter and Malfoy are forced to improvise, with unexpected consequences . . . 31. timothysboxers wrote The Boy Who Licked (R, 4039) Summary: Draco Malfoy is doing well for himself: he has paid his dues, enjoys his work at the Ministry, and has his feelings safely in check regarding a certain Auror Potter, thank you very much. That is, until he bears witness to the obscene things the man can do with his tongue and a custard filled bun... 32. gnarf wrote The Difference Between Dust And Soup (Is You) (PG-13, 17612) Summary: When Harry returned for his eighth year at Hogwarts he had high hopes that he'd have a normal and quiet year for once—he had earned it after all! But when he found Malfoy starving and unconscious in the Astronomy Tower one night, it all started over again. He had to figure out what happened to him. After Harry started to cook for Malfoy, and while sharing their secret dinner night after night, he couldn't help but wonder if there was a possibility of them becoming more. 33. Blowfish_Diaries wrote How to Handle a Matzo Ball Soup Emergency (R, 22028) Summary: Harry, having left the Wizarding World after his divorce, inherits a deli in a trendy part of London. Draco wanders in and falls in love - with the food. And certainly not with the infuriatingly-fit-father-of-three who runs the place. A tale of growing up and families of choice; of awkward hugs and new best friends. 34. mykesprit wrote Succumb or Retreat (NC-17, 2068) Summary: Draco procures the Forbidden Fruit, and Auror Harry Potter arrives to take it from him. 35. lyonessheart wrote Melange a deux (PG-13, 10006) Summary: This is the story of two men finding love in unexpected places. And lots of delicious food. 36. oldenuf2nb wrote The Chains of Memory (NC-17, 14417) Summary: Harry is growing sicker by the day and Draco wants to know why. 37. Fantasyfiend09 wrote Popular Appetite (G, 16735) Summary: Bad press is destroying Draco’s hotel. There is only one person who can create enough good press to save it. 38. firethesound wrote The Way These Days Seem to Go (And Go) (PG-13, 15112) Summary: Stress baking isn’t a hobby Harry ever thought he’d pick up, but he’s surprised to find how much it helps him to get through those long months post-war. It keeps his hands busy, it keeps his mind occupied, and when Draco Malfoy steadily pushes his way back into Harry's life, it helps with that too. 39. LadyOfTheAttic wrote Cooking Mama (PG-13, 5124) Summary: Harry and Draco are roommates and auror partners but there are certain lines Draco doesn't cross-- namely, he won't let Harry cook for him. This would be fine if Draco didn't live off of frozen dinners and sadness. Harry decides to help with lessons! 40. TheKnitterati wrote The Finest Ingredient (PG-13, 4474) Summary: The Weasley family is in need of help. Help that comes in the form of a rare plant, grown only on the grounds of Malfoy Manor. In order to save the day, Harry might have to flirt with Draco Malfoy. Or worse...they both might have to face up to the reality that they fancy each other. 41. giraffeminion wrote A Hint of Spice (G, 6787) Summary: After the war, Draco breaks ties with the wizarding world to lead a quiet and uneventful life as a financial advisor on the outskirts of Muggle London. His peaceable existence is broken, however, when a damnable food truck sets up shop right outside his front door. 42. groundbreaking wrote Order To Go (R, 17645) Summary: Draco Malfoy opens a new pâtisserie in Diagon Alley, his pastries and desserts are to die for. Harry is the coffee shop owner next door who wants to take Draco home for dessert. Ron is just there for the bread. - in which harry has a sweet tooth, but it isn't for anything on the menu.  43. Sw33tCh377yPi3 wrote Ice Cream (G, 7508) Summary: Sometimes the critical moment passes us by. If we’re fortunate, we get a second—or third—chance. 44. epsilonargus wrote The Right Question (PG-13, 4652) Summary: Harry is having dinner every week with Malfoy - but no, Ernie, they are not bloody dates! 45. Femmequixotic and Noeon wrote Ynys Afallach (I Will Give My Love An Apple) (NC-17, 42472) Summary: Professor Waverley Root's tutorial in the history of magical food is something of a legend at Flamel College. Draco Malfoy wants to apply it to his work in sustainable wizarding agriculture. Harry Potter's taking it for his interest in historical overlap between the magical and Muggle worlds in the West Country. When Root pairs them together, the fireworks (and the apples!) fly. Now if only they can find something original, perhaps they'll make it through to complete their degrees on time. 46. Drarryismymuse wrote The Way to a Man’s Heart (NC-17, 16390) Summary: Draco is released from Azkaban and given one week to find gainful employment...or else. A chance encounter with the ever-meddling Harry Potter changes the course of his week, and ultimately his life. This is a story of mistakes, burnt toast, awkward encounters, rude employees, bold gestures, and a bit of anal. :D 47. milkandhoney wrote Squill & Spoon (R, 19169) Summary: In order to complete the terms of his probation, Draco's mind healer must deem Draco reformed enough to re-enter wizarding society. Squill & Spoon, a new wizarding supper club could be the perfect opportunity — that is, if Harry Potter would stop showing up at his table every. Single. Time. 48. brightowl wrote The Dinner (NC-17, 7795) Summary: Draco had been trying to beat the sunset, walking along the cobblestone road to the Chateau where he would be staying that night, when he saw the door. Le Billet Doux, said a painted red sign. Below it, réservations non requises: ‘no reservations required.’ 49. Wonders wrote The One Where Harry is a Prat (Not Really) (PG-13, 5941) Summary: The one where Harry is a prat, a pig, an incompetent wazzock, an imbecile and ridiculous. Harry hears Draco talking about his favourite flower and buys him a bouquet full of them. Why, then, does he think Harry’s trying to kill him? 50. tigersilver wrote Eighteen Kisses (PG-13, 9436) Summary: Harry is being targeted by a very determined and wily Malfoy, a Malfoy with sly hands and a sweet, sweet mouth. 51. germankitty wrote The Best of Food (PG-13, 16884) Summary: It all started at the Hogsmeade Food Fayre. If some people those idiots Smith and McLaggen hadn't tried to sabotage a few participants, Draco would never have had to put up with having Potter's bread stall jammed in next to his. (And no, that wasn't a pun, thanks ever so.) Because then nobody could have claimed they'd seen him nibble morsels of tasty, delicious home-baked bread directly from Potter's fingers. Or let Potter lick spoonsful of Draco’s exquisite, scrumptious gourmet preserves directly from the jar. Clearly, Pansy, Blaise and Granger those people were quite delusional. At least that's Draco's story and he's sticking to it. 52. potteresque_ire wrote The Kitchen Thieves (and the Kitchen Herself) (NC-17, 67053) Summary: In a deserted cottage miles away from Hogsmeade, a pair of young spirits waited for a new owner to call the place home. One day, Auror Harry Potter bought the cottage. One evening, farm wizard Draco Malfoy showed up to spend the night with Harry… and steal from the kitchen. Why don’t we let Kate tell you their story? She’s the spirit who looks after the kitchen, and she’s got quite a bit to say… 53. sassy_cissa wrote Three Months, Eleven Days and Nine Hours (PG-13, 11029) Summary: Broke and living in a one room hovel in Knockturn Alley, Draco hunts in rubbish bins for food. Nothing could be more humiliating, right? Unless you're Draco Malfoy...
PODFIC

More than a decade after the War, Draco makes a triumphant return to the wizarding world as the successful chef/owner of Pomegranate, only to have his world thrown into disorder when Harry arrives unexpectedly in the dining room.

NCIS: Los Angeles S10E19 - Searching
In the 19th episode of the tenth season of NCIS: Los Angeles, it focuses on Sam and Lance Hamilton working together again while looking into the personal lives of the team during their day off.
This was one of the most unique, action packed, personal and intense episodes of NCIS: Los Angeles I have EVER seen. This episode was certainly different compared to all previous episodes as for once it doesn’t feature the entire team being out in the field doing their jobs and instead focuses on their home lives and it clearly shows there is a LOT of drama going on in their lives right now. Callen is babysitting his nephew, Jake for the day, Eric and Nell are going to San Francisco and Kensi and Deeks are setting up a fundraiser. This episode was a real eye opener as it showed a lot of personal issues going on for everyone, including Sam and Lance after the end of their mission.
In Sam and Lance’s mission with Fatima along for the ride, they were working to find a kidnapped family, but as the case progressed it became clear, the father was hunting the men who kidnapped his wife and his daughter was along for the ride. Which I find disturbing. By the end of the case, the family was safe and reunited and Sam and Lance had once again discussed working together. It looks like Sam is really starting to consider his offer and may just end up leaving the team... just not right now, but someday quite possibly in the near future.
In the Neric storyline, Nell and Eric are going to San Francisco for a trip as Eric has gotten a job interview for a big tech company and although he is nervous, Nell reassured him and they are ready... or so we thought. Nell has been the character where she is always so strong, brave and holds together like glue, but she ends up having a really big emotional moment when it’s revealed her mom is sick with severe heart disease. I felt so bad for Nell as she is so upset and extremely worried about her mom and wants to be there for her so badly, but she can’t be there for her mom and do her job at the same time which means she needs to make a decision: Continue her job at NCIS in L.A. or leave to support her mom in San Francisco. Eric is a great boyfriend as he was there for Nell in her time of need and by the end their spirits were lifted when Eric got an amazing job that could make a huge difference for both of them. Eric is willing to change his life by moving to San Francisco to be with Nell as she helps her mom and it looks like nothing is going to change their minds. Is Neric leaving NCIS: Los Angeles because if so than.... OH MY GOD. I DID NOT SEE THIS COMING AND I DON’T KNOW HOW TO THINK OR FEEL ABOUT THIS!!!!
In the Densi storyline, Deeks and Kensi are trying to set up a fundraiser at the bar, but soon it focuses on the married couple arguing about the business. The stress of dealing with their normal jobs is a no brainer, but the stress of running a business is really starting to affect Kensi and Deeks when a whole bunch of stuff starts to go wrong. Honestly I can’t say I’m surprised because I knew this would happen eventually and I have to be completely honest here when I say I honestly NEVER supported the idea of a bar in the first place. Seriously, I wouldn’t be surprised if the bar was sold at the end of the season, especially if Kensi really does end up becoming pregnant because they would need to focus on money for a baby and would need to start saving like crazy. The good news is that Callen’s nephew, Jake saved the day for Densi and the fundraiser turned out to be a success, but still the bar issue will definitely be brought up again later in the future. Honestly I HATE seeing my beloved Densi arguing as I looked away from the screen whenever they fought and that was pretty much throughout the entire episode. Seriously, I have been wanting more Densi, but not scenes with them fighting, but at least they managed to survive their first fight as a married couple.
In Callen’s storyline, he is taking some time off after an injury on the job and while doing so he has a very rare opportunity to spend the day with his estranged nephew, Jake. While things were awkward between them with Callen trying to find things Jake likes to do, Callen eventually found his connection to him and soon a bond is formed between uncle and nephew. However, the estrangement isn’t either Callen or Jake’s fault because we all know exactly who is responsible... Alex. Officially as of this episode, I HATE Callen’s sister, Alex. I can’t believe she still blames Callen for what happened to their dad when Callen did everything he could to try and save their father and he is still searching to this day. What’s even worse is that ever since that happened last season, she has been punishing Callen by keeping him away from her and Jake which isn’t fair or right. Alex clearly has no idea how much family really and truly means to Callen as he spent his whole life searching for his family and she wants nothing to do with him. I can’t believe how cruel and cold she is being and even worse, she is trying to find any faults she possibly can as an excuse to keep Callen away from her and Jake. Honestly though she is punishing Jake too by keeping him away from his uncle and I also think that she is trying to erase any kind of connection he may have to Callen. Example, he likes shooting games, but she is trying to distract him with birthday parties, dancing etc. She is the Worst. Callen better find his dad so he can get his family back.
Overall, this was a really surprising episode and now I’m curious if the team maybe breaking up because everyone seems to be going in different directions and have other things on their minds. It concerns me, but the only way to know for sure if this is the end of the NCIS: LA team is to keep watching to find out.
