The appeal of hypnosis is the way it makes things simple. Without any bells or whistles it makes everything narrow down to one thing that matters, one thing that is going to happen to you laid out in plain terms as you watch it unfold.

The nervousness I feel constantly otherwise is swallowed up by the story being woven around me, and it’s lovely.

It’s experience without stakes, with all the sensations of stakes still there to spice it up.

Anything can happen and it will be fine and I can’t be wrong because I am merely a vassal for my narrator. It is all meant to happen as it does, so it will.

I can imagine Partners in Time happening in the movie universe and Baby Mario tries protecting Luigi despite being so small compared to the older version of his brother but Luigi appreciates the efforts and encourages the little guy that while he isn’t invincible, he can still make a difference by protecting those he cares about and the older Mario instantly remembers those words and the person that inspired him to be who he is was none other than Luigi himself.

Oh my goodness this is so beautiful ;_;

I can just imagine this scene playing out. Baby Mario is revved up from trying to fight an enemy, and Luigi crouches down to his level, tugs his cap playfully, and says

"You're already brave, little one. You don't have to push yourself now. You can make a difference by protecting those you care about."

Mario is immediately frozen in shock. He recalls those words from so long ago, but could never remember who told him that. He's carried those words close to his heart. Treasured them like they were a piece of himself.

And now he knows they were from his amazing and supportive little bro this whole time...

Luigi notices Mario gasp, and turns to him. And then he too understands.

The two share a look in that serene moment, that speaks volumes far beyond words...
