Plenty of people had warned you about the Navy pilots before moving so close to Top Gun. You were well aware of how they swept women off their feet one day only to leave them the next. Rinse and repeat. Yet, you moved anyways, into a small, one-bedroom apartment. It was cute, had a balcony that overlooked the beach, and was extremely close to the Hard Deck. That was where it all started.
Your friend introduced you to the beach-side bar one Friday night. You weren’t looking for a Navy stud to take home. You just wanted to have fun.
After a round of billiards, you retired to the bar as your friend “went to the bathroom.” As she walked away, the man in uniform she had talked to while playing pool joined her, and they exited the building instead of turning left into the bathrooms.
A beer hardly took the pain of being ditched away. What a nice introduction to the city: your friend, and ride, leaving you stranded at a bar. At least it was a short walk home.
It was then he caught your eye. Across the bar, a blonde man wearing sunglasses and intensely chewing gum inside was looking in your direction. He lifted the glasses from his eyes when he spotted you and winked once they were finally off his head. You rolled your eyes. Another pilot. How could your friend have fallen for the other man's tricks?
The man’s eyes stayed glued to you as you quickly drank your beer. The sooner the golden liquid was gone, the sooner you could walk home. You glimpsed across the bar again. The blond had disappeared. Your eyebrows scrunched in confusion as you checked around for the mystery man.
“Oh my God,” you breathed, flinching in surprise. He was right next to you, leaning against the clean bar-top. A cheeky grin spread across his face.
“Did I scare you?” he teased, his facial expression unchanging, “Or are you just that surprised at my good looks?”
“No, you surprised me, that’s all,” your cheeks began burning. There was no doubt they were now a deep pink color. You grabbed your bag and began standing, but the blond blocked your way to the door. Every time you stepped in a different direction, he followed. Eventually, you groaned and looked him straight in the eye as he stood in front of the exit door.
“Can I at least get a name?” he asked.
You sighed and brushed a strand of hair out of your face. The man was handsome with his beautiful green eyes and stunning face, you had to admit but his ego was clearly enormous. Maybe if he could keep it under control. But that would never happen. He was one of the infamous Navy pilots, after all.
“Y/N.”
“A little louder, please?” he said, bending down slightly and tilting his ear towards you.
“Y/N!” you practically shouted. The rest of the bar was too full and rowdy to hear your little scuffle. The man chuckled and resumed chewing on his piece of gum.
“I’m Iceman.”
“Ha, ha,” you said sarcastically, deciding to humor Iceman’s attempts, “What’s your real name?”
“Why? You’re not into pilots?”
You sighed for what seemed like the thousandth time in the evening, “No, I’m not. Now, tell me your real name or I’m walking out the door.”
“I’d like to see you try,” Iceman taunted. He crossed his arms but, when you didn’t move, he continued, “The name’s Tom Kazansky.”
“Great,” you stated bluntly, “Now, Tom, I would like to go home. Let me through, please.”
He begrudgingly returned his arms to his side, allowing you to walk through the exit. His voice called after you once you walked out of the building. You ignored him the first time, and the second, but the third time you turned around.
“Yes?”
“At least let me walk you home,” he appealed to you. His ego was starting to fade.
“I think I’m fine, thanks,” you replied, but you didn’t turn back around yet. You wanted to hear his response.
“C’mon. You can’t walk home alone, especially this late.” he checked his watch and then made eye contact with you again, “it’s almost eleven.”
Your eyes darted around the night. It was incredibly dark and the street lights weren’t helping. There were plenty of spaces someone could be hiding in, plenty of spaces you could be taken to...
“Fine,” you said. It was your turn to cross your arms when he paused in disbelief, “You coming?”
Iceman hurried to your side and, after casually throwing his arm around your shoulders, you began making your way back to your apartment.
To your utter surprise, the walk was nicer than you expected. The conversation flowed smoothly, although it only lasted for about ten minutes. You couldn’t help but ask about his flying escapades and he happily obliged, detailing the most daring missions he’d been on and the training he did. It didn’t occur to you that his stories may have been a tad exaggerated.
Once you were at your front door, your opinion of Iceman had practically done a complete 180. Despite his ego, he had treated you kindly even though he knew he wouldn’t be reaching third base that night.
“Thank you for walking me home,” you said, turning around in your doorway. He was standing across from you with his hands behind his back. He looked innocent outside of your door. Nothing like the man who had tempted you across the bar just twenty minutes ago.
“It was no problem,” he replied, “I’ll see you around.”
“Yeah, definitely,” you nodded, a light blush returning to your cheeks, “Good night.”
“Good night.”
You returned to the Hard Deck without your friend the next night and the next. Suddenly, it had been a week of going to the unruly bar. The reason was to see Iceman, of course, but you couldn’t admit that. At least, not yet. Each time, you played the same game of eyeing each other across the bar. Then, as soon as one of you was about to leave, the other would catch up to them and “walk them home.” It was truthfully just a stroll to your house after a couple of beers.
Several times during your walks, you found your eyes wandering up to your escort home. Man, was he hot. Thoughts drifted into your head. At first, they were innocent: what it would feel like to run your fingers through his hair, to hold his hand, to feel his lips on yours. But, whenever your dreaming would take a more explicit turn, Iceman would notice your staring and you would be interrupted.
“We can’t keep going about this,” Iceman finally said the fourteenth time (fifteenth? You weren’t sure at this point) he escorted you home. There had been plenty of unofficial bar dates where a friend insisted they drove you home instead. Those were your least favorite days, for obvious reasons.
“Going about what?” you asked innocently. This time, your hands were positioned behind your back, “What do you want to change?”
“You know what,” Iceman took a step closer to you. You could feel his breath on your skin, sending goosebumps down your spine.
“I’m not sure I do,” you teased, a surge of confidence rushing through you. You had gotten to know Tom. He wasn’t one of those Navy pilots that people gossiped about. Maybe he was in the beginning, but now.. now you were in the clear, “Why don’t you show me?”
Iceman chuckled and took another step closer. His face was hardly inches from you. He bit his lower lip sensually, his eyes darting between your mouth and eyes. Eagerness was building in your abdomen as you leaned in as well. To your past self’s dismay, you had been waiting for this.
In a moment, Iceman’s lips were crashing against yours in a desperate fever. They were just like you imagined them. Rough, but passionate, like he had been harboring the same thoughts about you that you held for him. Both of you were stumbling back into your apartment. After slamming the door behind you, Iceman wrapped his arm around your hips, picking you up and carrying you to the bedroom as your hands began tugging at his shirt.
You disconnected your lips for a second, taking a breath of air, “Are you sure about this?”
“Why wouldn’t I be?” he answered before placing his lips on your once again.
xXx
You awoke early the next morning. Faint sunshine was streaming through your window, illuminating the room in a gentle glow. Your covers were a mess. The clothes you had worn the night before were thrown haphazardly on the floor, along with some pillows. Everything seemed perfect. Too perfect.
Thoughts began flowing through your head. They were unlike the pleasant ones that filled your mind before. They were doubtful, worrying. What was going to happen now? You glanced at the man sleeping to your right. He was so peaceful and calm. What would happen when he woke up?
The words “Why wouldn’t I be?” kept returning to your mind. Was he actually unsure? What if he didn’t actually care? Were you just another one-night stand to him? You had only known him for a month or so, too. You didn’t doubt that Iceman would play the long con for a pretty face. The thought that he had done that to you made you sick.
Suddenly, you felt something tugging at your waist. Iceman’s large arms wrapped around you, pulling your body close to his. He laid his head over your shoulder and began placing small kisses along your neck.
“Good morning,” he mumbled in between lazy kisses.
You hardly heard him. You were too lost in thought to process any noise outside of your brain. Was he buttering you up to drop you like a rock not minutes later? He had probably put his clothes on already and was only still here to tell you he would never see you again.
“Good morning,” Iceman said a little louder. He stopped peppering kisses down your neck, “How’d you sleep?”
“Fine.”
“You look beautiful.”
“Thanks.”
Iceman frowned and unattached one of his hands from your waist. He propped himself up on his elbow, his other hand still laid across your stomach. You turned to lay on your back and stared at the popcorn ceiling, refusing to meet Iceman’s gaze. While your worries weren’t confirmed, you were almost certain they would be soon. You had fallen for a Navy pilot. You did what everything had instructed you not to do.
“What’s wrong?” Iceman asked, his fingers drawing circles around your stomach.
“Nothing,” you said quietly.
“You’re lying,” he stated. Iceman took his hand off your stomach and held your cheek gently, guiding your face to look at him. His eyes scanned your face for any sign of what was troubling you.
He sighed, “You know that I love you, right?”
“I bet you say that to all the girls,” you said, quietly laughing to yourself at the end.
“I definitely don’t,” he scoffed, getting off his elbow and wrapping his arms around you again. He dragged you across the bed so he was spooning you from behind, “In fact, you’re the first person I’ve said that to in a long time. What made you think that?”
“I don’t know. Everybody warned me about Navy men when I moved here and I figured you wouldn’t really care about me.”
“What? I would never treat you like... however people told you Navy pilots treated women. I don’t know what would happen to me if something bad happened to you. I- I care for you a lot, Y/N, no matter how big my ego is,” he said. You could sense the cheeky grin growing on his face.
“Oh, so you’re self-aware now?” you joked.
“Mhm,” Iceman murmured, holding you tighter than he was before. For the first time since you awoke, you realized how comfortable his arms felt around you. It was like they were perfectly built to fit your waist, “I mean it when I say I love you Y/N. I hope you love me back.”
You twisted around in his arms to face him and looked him in the eyes. They were soft, unlike the night before when they were eating you alive. You couldn’t help but smile. He loved you. He really did.
“How long can you stay until?” you asked.
“As long as you need me to.”
“Good,” you said. Before joining your lips in a slow, much-needed kiss, you added, “I love you, too, Tom.”

"I really don't think this is what I want to be doing before my first day." You said with a sigh as you looked at the loud and clearly crowded bar in front of you.
Your friend shook you lightly by the shoulder "It's exactly what you should be doing. Half of the pilots you'll be flying with will be here."
Letting out another soft groan as they began dragged you inside, you said forceully "But we leave by eight, no later!"
"Yeah yeah I know."
You almost flinched at the mixed smell of alcohol, smoke and sweat that hit you as you entered the bar. You grimaced a bit as you saw the large bustling crowd. A mix of military personnel and locals, some mixed together, some grouped up.
You wondered if you were the only pilot not wearing their uniform. You felt a bit out of place as you slid through the crowd and sat at the bar beside your friend.
Looking around, your eyes stopped momentarily on a taller man with blonde hair. A pilot, big smile, attractive. You wondered if he was one of the pilots you'd be working with.
Looking back at the bartender as they came over, you missed the man you had just been admiring look over at you.
Iceman's eyes seemed to double take as he looked over a the bar. As he scanned you up and down, interest took hold. He had never seen you before, or the friend you were with. You smiled at the bartender and he felt an odd flutter in his chest.
Feeling a smack on his shoulder, he looked over to see Slider staring at him amused "What's got you so distracted all of a sudden?"
Iceman smirked a little as he gestured towards you "Talking to the bartender."
Slider whistled lowly "Cute. And just you're type. You gonna go talk to 'em?"
Ice shrugged his head a bit "I'm thinking about it."
That was a lie, there was no thinking about it, and no way he would let you leave this bar without at least learning your name.
--- ---
"Oh, there's Jeremy! I'm gonna go say hi, don't go anywhere!"
As your friend bounded off without waiting for a reply, you just let out a soft laugh. You knew it wouldn't take long before you were left on your own.
Seeing a figure slide into the seat your friend had just been in, you could feel the strangers eyes boring into you. You internally cursed, hoping it wasn't some drunk local hoping to get lucky.
When they didn't look away, you finally glanced over. You felt your breath hitch in your throat as your eyes locked with a pair of icy blue ones. The man you had seen earlier was now right beside you, looking down at you with a charming smile.
"Hi." He said casually.
"Hello." You smiled as you sipped at the straw in your drink.
He continued to smile as he stared at you. You almost laughed "Is there a reason you're staring at me?"
His smile widened "Yeah, because I think you're beautiful."
You felt your chest clench as you tried to repress a grin. You nodded your head, amused and surprised.
"Your friend coming back, or can I sit down?" He added on, sparing you of a response to his blunt compliment.
So he was waiting for your friend to leave? How long had he been watching you? The thought made your skin burn hot.
"I doubt I'll see them again for a while." You said with a soft laugh before you motioned your head, welcoming him to sit.
You might as well get to know at least one pilot before tomorrow.
He smiled brightly as he sat down, obviously not bothered by his proximity to you as he stayed facing you, his knee brushing your thigh.
"I'm Tom, but my call sign is Iceman." Before you could respond he added on "Uh, a call sign is basically a nickname we have as pilots."
You smiled at him as you bit down on your straw, noting the way his eyes lingered on your lips as you did this.
So he assumed you were a local. You had heard of Iceman, he was a hot shot, number one at Top Gun in the class a couple years before you. And apparently he was cocky, and a tad bit full of himself, maybe this could be fun.
"Why do they call you that?" You asked softly.
He shrugged his head a bit as he leaned on the bar, "Because I'm cool in stressful situations. Ice cold. I make no mistakes."
You hummed a bit with a small smile, watching as his eyes scanned your face again.
"What's your name?" He asked softly.
"Y/n."
Reaching out his hand he grinned "Nice to meet you Y/n."
Taking it, you shook his hand, not unaware of the fluttering in your stomach, or the heat at the tips of your ears. He was certainly charming.
You looked around a bit, feigning ignorance "So the air base must be close to here huh? A lot of pilots in here."
He nodded as he casually looked around "Yeah, this is the main bar we come to for a night out. So I'm assuming you're not from here then?" You shook your head "Well that explains why I haven't seen you before."
"Just got into town today." You added casually before you turned your head towards him a bit more "So, Iceman" you began, noting the way his lip quirked as you used his call sign "What's it like being a pilot?"
You listened to him talk for a few minutes, deciding that though he was definitley a bit full of himself, he was also charismatic, loved his job, and loved flying.
"You get along with the other pilots, or are there rivalries?" You might as well get some info before you walk into your new station blindly.
He let out a short laugh "No, we all get along. Occasionally a newbie gets transferred in, thinks they're the shit, but we humble them quickly."
You smirked at this "Got any newbies recently?"
"No, but we got a new pilot transferring in tomorrow."
"Oh? What's their call sign?" You held your breath, waiting for it.
"Apollo."
You rose your brow "Well that's an interesting name."
"Yeah, I guess Apollo is the god of prophecy or something." He said with an almost disinterested tone.
"So they can see the future?" You joked.
He let out a chuckle "That would be something. No, apparently they got a reputation for being able to see things coming before they happen. Meaning great instincts, but we'll see."
You wanted to laugh, but you held it in. "You don't believe it?"
He shrugged his head "I hear a lot of reputations about pilots, half of them are exaggerated."
You turned fully towards him now, your leg pushing his aside but still resting against each other. This clearly caught him off guard as he straightened up a bit.
You set your elbow on the bar and put your head in your hand "And what's your reputation?"
He licked his lips as he smiled "I've got a few."
Before your conversation could move forward, you saw a large man suddenly appear at Iceman's side as he slung his arm around his shoulder. Iceman was clearly annoyed at this sudden intrusion, but you looked patiently at the new man.
"Iceman, ask your new friend here if they play darts, we need two more players."
Ice looked like he was about to shoo him off, but you spoke first.
"I do."
Iceman looked over at you a bit shocked, as Slider grinned "Great."
"You play darts?" Iceman asked amused
You shrugged "I'm decent."
You watched his mind working as a small smirk played at his lips. "You down a player each team?" Iceman asked Slider.
"Yes'sir."
"Alright, how about a deal then." He said to you now.
"What kind of deal?"
"You win, I pay your tab. I win, I get a kiss."
You saw his friend repress a smile, and you smirked. "Alright, deal."
Iceman's grin grew wider as you agreed. Standing, he reached out his hand for you to shake. Taking it, you were a bit surprised as he continued to hold your hand as he led you to the dart board, where you were greeted by the other pilots with a chorus of cheers.
--- --- ---
You let out a long breath as you aimed your dart at the board. You needed three points, no more or you'd bust, giving Iceman the chance to win. As you threw your dart, you let out a disappointed groan as you barely missed your mark.
You saw Iceman smile widely as he stepped up to the board. After a moment, he threw his dart, hitting the double four, earning the perfect score he needed.
You and your teammates groaned as his team cheered. You watched as Iceman turned towards you and took a step closer, clearly proud of himself. "Looks like you owe me a kiss."
You heard snickers and teasing 'oohs' coming from the other pilots, but you ignored them. Taking a step closer you stared up at Iceman, watching as he held his breath, his eyes darting between yours and yours lips. Leaning up slowly, you smiling softly before quickly kissing his cheek.
The others around you let out laughs and groans, some clutching their chest, mocking the obvious disappointment on Iceman's face.
You grinned at him and shrugged "You never said what kind of kiss."
The man you learned was Slider came up and gripped Iceman's shoulders "Ouch. But you should have expected that."
A smile spread across Iceman's face as he looked down at you "Cute."
You smiled sweetly at him, feigning innocence, as his grin widened. Suddenly you felt an arm slip around your waist. Looking over, you saw your friend looking at you with a smile. "Sorry to interrupt, but -" they leaned in and whispered in your ear.
Your eyes found the nearest clock you saw it was nearly nine. You looked at your friend and they shrugged, their version of an apology for not getting you sooner "I didn't want to interrupt your game."
You looked at Iceman, who stared at the two of you in confusion. Part of you wanted to stay, but you knew you needed a good nights sleep. And, you wanted the finish what you started with Iceman before he learned the punchline too soon.
You reached out, straightening one of his uniform patches "Sorry Tom, looks like I gotta go, busy day tomorrow."
"Already?" He laughed, but you could see the disappointment in his face. Maybe he did really like you. You shrugged apologetically and he straightened up a bit "Will I see you again?"
You smiled "I can't see the future, but I have a feeling you will."
He frowned slightly, obviously missing your hint of who you were.
Stepping back you smiled, "See ya Tom."
You could feel his eyes on you as you and your friend left the bar. You thought for a moment as you glanced back and saw him watching you, that he would follow you. But as Slider grabbed his arm, you knew he wouldn't.
He wanted to follow you, get your number, your address, anything, but as Slider grabbed him, he looked away for a moment, only to look back and see you were gone.
"Dammit" He muttered as he quickly went after you, sliding between the groups of people that filled the bar. As he stepped outside, he saw your car driving away and cursed under his breath.
You'd come back to find him right? There was no way it was just him feeling what was between you. That electricity that sent chills up his spine. Something he had never felt before. He had to see you again.
"So, who was that? He was cute." Your friend asked as you drove off.
"Tom 'Iceman' Kazansky, a pilot at the base."
They frowned a bit "Did you not tell him who you were? He seemed like he was expecting to never see you again."
You smiled "I may have kept it a secret."
They let out a laugh "Oh, that's good. Cruel, but good."
You smiled to yourself throughout the night as you tried to imagine how he would respond when he learned who you really were. Would he find it as funny as you did? Or would he be annoyed?
You were also a bit afraid. You grew to like him throughout the night, and he seemed to like you too. But when you started to work together, would he pull away?
--- --- --- ---
Throughout the rest of the night, and next morning, you would not leave Tom's mind. He couldn't believe he didn't get your number, or even just your last name. He already planned to go back to the bar tonight, to see if you'd come back. He felt a tightness in his chest that he knew wouldn't go away until he saw you again.
As Slider nudged his arm, he looked up as the General entered, ready to debrief the group on an upcoming mission.
"Before we start, I'd like to introduce the newest member of the team, you probably know them as their call sign Apollo. Graduated top of their class in the Top Gun program, I expect you all to welcome them and make them feel at home."
Tom stared down at the pen he was twirling in his fingers, as the general spoke, not particularly interested in the newest addition to the team. But when there seemed to be a wave of motion through the pilots, and a chorus of whispering, followed by Slider hitting him in the arm, he looked up in confusion.
Following Sliders line of sight, he saw the newest pilot coming in. He felt his heart skip a beat as his breath got caught in his throat.
"Lieutenant Y/n L/n, Apollo, welcome."
You nodded at the General as you turned and looked at the group of pilots. You recognized most of them from the bar, and from their shocked faces, they recognized you. As your eyes ran through the crowd, they paused on a familiar face.
Tom stared up at you with a clear look of shock and confusion.
It felt like time stopped as he met yours eyes. And as a small smirk played at your lips he felt his heart palpitate. Sitting down in the front row, his eyes bored into the back of your head throughout the rest of the debriefing. He couldn't focus on anything else.
As he sat there, your conversations ran through his head again. The whole time, you knew what you were doing. When you met, he immediately assumed you weren't a pilot and you played along. When he remembered talking about Apollo he felt himself cringe.
Then he remembered what you said when he asked if he'd see you again "I can't see the future, but I have a feeling you will." You played him.
But he wasn't mad, he even felt a smile appear on his face as he stared at the back of your head. You did exactly what he would have done. He almost laughed, God, you were perfect.
When the debrief ended, you weren't surprised to turn around to see Tom walking straight up to you. He had small smile playing on his lips and you felt a wave of relief to see he wasn't angry.
He stopped right in front of you as his face went blank. "Y/n. Or, should I call you Apollo?"
You smiled "Either works."
Slowly, a smile spread across his face as he shook his head "You played me."
"I didn't play you, I just let you assume I was what you thought I was."
"Which was?"
"Well not a pilot obviously."
He let out a short laugh "Yeah, fair enough " He stared at you for a moment, his eyes darting around your face, and you felt those now familiar butterflies.
"So, Apollo. We gonna have a rivalry, or are we gonna be friends?" His voice slowed as he said 'friends' making you assume he was insinuating more.
You smiled slowly "I don't know Tom. You tell me."
--- --- --- ---
As you set down your now empty glass, you stood up, slapping Slider on the shoulder "I'm out." You said casually.
There was a chorus of 'boos' and complaints from your friends as you began to leave, but you just raised your hand in farewell. You had a long day, and sitting in the noisy, crowded bar was not how you wanted to spend the rest of it.
You had been at the base for over a month now, and it even started to feel like home. You got along with everyone, especially Tom. Nothing had formed between you since that first night you met, but you knew those feelings were lingering just under the surface.
Neither of you shied away from flirty comments, innuendos, or even physical touch. You were used to him slinging his arm around your shoulder, or even resting your head against him. You were friends, but something more was there, and it was obvious to both of you, and probably everyone else, but neither of you had truly acted on it.
Your eyes looked around, and landed on Tom. You thought of calling out to him, but you saw his intense gaze as he lined up a shot and decided no to bother. You would see him tomorrow, and just like every other day, you'd hope something would change.
Iceman grinned as he took his final winning shot in his game of pool. Looking over to where you had been, he felt a small tug at his heart when he saw you were gone. Looking around, he found you just in time to see you heading towards the doors. He felt a tight clench in his chest as he felt an urge to follow you.
He had been debating telling you how he felt ever since he met you, but since you started to work together, he knew it could be risky. But every day it felt worse holding it in. Every day he saw your smile, heard your laugh, he fell harder and harder. And every day he missed the chance to hold your hand, to kiss you, to hold you against him was a day of torture.
As the thought of you walking out of the bar the first night you met entered his mind, he remembered that regret he felt for having not chased after you faster. Before this thought was over, he was handing his pool cue to his friend and following after you.
Stepping out into the cool darkness, he saw you heading out of the parking lot. "Y/n!" He yelled, causing you to halt and turn around.
You watched as Tom came jogging up to you, and you felt your stomach knot.
As he stopped in front of you he smiled down at you "Let me walk you back, I hate the idea of you going alone."
You smiled, feeling warmth in your chest "I wont stop you."
Turning, you both began walking. As he walked in stride beside you, his arm brushed against yours, hands briefly touching. There was a minute of silence as you began walking down the road as both of you felt the rising tension.
Tom took a breath as he stopped walking, at the same time, he gently grabbed your arm. You stopped and turned back, seeing the intense look on his face.
"What is it?" You asked, voice almost wavering.
"I-I have something I need to tell you. Something that has been eating me up."
Frowning, you turned fully towards him, "What is it Tom?"
You shivered as he gently ran his fingers down your arm, until he hooked his hand around your own. He stared down at your hand, gently stroking it with his thumb.
Swallowing, he looked back up, meeting your eyes. He could see the concern in your gaze, and all he wanted to do was take your face in his hands and kiss you.
"I don't think it's a secret to either of us that there is something here. And that there has been since we met. But over the last month, I didn't act on it, when I should have. And every day I haven't has been torture to me. And honestly Y/n-" He let out a shaky breath as he took a small step closer, staring deep into your eyes. "I think I'm falling in love with you."
You felt your heart jump in your chest as your ears and face grew hot. How could someone so perfectly say what you had been wanting to?
A slow smile spread across your face "I think I'm okay with that."
Tom's nervous expression gave away to a bright smile, that was all you needed to say. He knew how you felt, and you knew how he felt. There was no secret about it, just one of you needed to break that silence.
Lifting his hands, he gently held your face as you stepped closer, your bodies gently touching.
His eyes darted to your lips before his smile turned into a smirk "Then how about I actually get that kiss you owe me?"
A soft giggle escaped, as you smiled coyly at him before your own eyes traced his lips. Slowly you both leaned in, locking eyes just as your lips touched. Your eyes then fluttered closed as Tom pulled your face closer as he deepened the kiss.
The deep didn't last long but it was electric, sending shivers through your body. Pulling away, you locked eyes and grinned, as he pressed his forehead against yours.
"Tell me Apollo, can you really see the future? Did you know I'd fall head over heels for you?"
You grinned happily up at him "I can't see the future, but I had a feeling you would."

"only bought this dress so you could take it off"
Tumblr media
Song: Dress by Taylor Swift
Pairing: bob floyd x reader (afab)
Warning(s): Allusions to smut (not written) & Aftercare
Word Count: 1,913
Summary: Y/N had just moved to Miramar and was invited to the Navy Ball in San Diego by her roommate. Soon when the both of them arrived, Y/N was met with a face she hasn't seen in a long time.
Backing away from the full length mirror, I admired the dress I picked out a few days ago. The muted gold beaded dress hugged my waist in all the right ways. With it being off the shoulder and a sweetheart neckline, it showed the right amount of chest without it being too scandalous.
“Wow, you look amazing.” I looked over to see my roommate, Natasha, entering my room.
“Are you sure? I mean is this appropriate for a naval ball?” I turned to face her.
“Yes, all heads will turn to you when you enter the ballroom,” she reassured me. “Who knows? Maybe a navy man will approach you and you end up going on a date with him, but if it’s Hangman, straight up reject him.”
I laughed at what she said. “Nat, I just moved here two weeks ago, I’m not looking for a relationship yet.”
Ever since I moved to San Diego two weeks ago, I’ve been more focused on my teaching job. I work at the local high school near a navy base as a science teacher. I was hired when the school year already started so I've been catching my students up since the substitute teacher they had barely got them learning.
“Well, the Lyft is almost here, you should finish getting ready,” she told me before leaving my room.
Slipping on a pair of gold heels, I grabbed my clutch and double checked the inside to see if I had all of the things I needed. Closing it, I walked out of my room and walked out of the house with Natasha after she locked the front door. Getting into the car, our driver started to drive us to the US Grant hotel.
“Hey, everything is going to be fine,” Natasha squeezed my hand. “All of the Dagger Squad is going to love you.”
We soon pulled up to the hotel and saw a bunch of naval higher ups in their uniforms with their plus ones. I’m pretty sure that I also saw some politicians entering the hotel. Natasha and I soon walked in and headed to the ballroom entrance where we showed our identifications along with invites.
When we walked in, I started to feel overwhelmed. Many members of the Navy and their plus ones filled the room while a live band played music.
“Oh, I see them!” Natasha started to drag me to where her friends were. “Guys, meet Y/N.”
I was soon met with two dark skinned men, one with a buzzcut, another one with a somewhat porno mustache, and one who looked like a real life Ken doll. She soon started to introduce me to them with their actual names and call signs. More of the members came and I was introduced to them along with her captain and his husband.
“Guess who finally showed up,” Jake announced. “How long does it take to get a soda?”
“Y/N, meet-” I looked over to see who came and I froze.
“Robbie?” His name fell out of my mouth.
“Y/N? Is that you?” He asked.
“Oh my god, it’s been so long.” I walked up and hugged him.
“It has.” He returned my hug.
“Wait, is this the Robbie you told me about?” Natasha asked.
“Yeah,” I nodded my head.
“Are we missing something here?” Mickey asked.
“Yeah, did you and Baby on Board used to have a thing or?” Jake asked.
“Baby on Board?” A confused look formed on my face when I heard the name he gave Robbie.
“No, we used to be childhood friends back in North Carolina,” Robbie explained.
“Yeah we’ve lived in the same neighborhood until I had to move to Arizona because my dad got a new job,” I nodded and pointed to Natasha. “That’s where I met Natasha.”
“And we’ve been inseparable until we had to leave for college.” Nat wrapped her arm around my shoulders. “It took me some convincing to get her to move down here.”
“Well, I had to finish both of my masters,” I told her.
“Two masters?” Admiral Kazansky raised his eyebrow.
“Yes, one in mechanical engineering and one in physics, but I also have a teaching credential for physics.” I smiled proudly.
“Do you mind if we continue this conversation while I get myself another drink?” The admiral asked me.
“I don’t mind at all Admiral,” I answered while linking arms with him.
While on our walk to the bar, he started asking me questions about my studies and why I double majored. I also talked about my time studying my undergrad at Cal Poly and getting my masters/teaching credential at the University of San Francisco.
Throughout our conversation, I glanced at the other side of the room to see Robbie talking to some of his squadron members. We would send each other a smile if we made eye contact with each other.
Soon a familiar tune filled my ears and the room. Placing my drink down on the bar, I faced the admiral.
“Excuse me sir, but I have to do something,” I excused sir.
“It’s no problem, also call me Tom.” He smiled and I nodded my head.
Hurrying myself to the other side of the room, I made my way to where Robbie was. When I saw him leaning against the wall as he listened to his friends, a smile came onto our faces as lyrics started to echo through the room. Handing his drink to Ruben, I grabbed his arm and dragged him to the dance floor as Come On Eileen played. (A/N I just imagine the dance scene in Perks of Being a Wallflower) We started to do the dance routine that we created when we were kids whenever this song played through the stereo. We continued to dance to the song and sang out the lyrics.
“Wow, it’s been a while since we last did that,” I caught my breath after he dipped me and we moved to a slow dancing position.
“I’m surprised that we still remember it,” he chuckled.
“After the amount of times we perform this dance in front of our families, I would be surprised if we don't remember the moves,” I looked up at him.
He still had the same face from what I remembered as a little kid, but it was more defined. He was still the shy and reserved kid that I knew of as I grew up.
“Hey, wanna head out?” He whispered in my ear which sent chills down my spine.
“Sure,” I agreed.
He led me off the dance floor and went to his squad.
“It’s been great meeting you all. I hope we get to see each other again,” I told everyone.
They all said their goodbyes and Robbie and I left the hotel ballroom. As Robbie and I waited for the valet to bring his wrangler around, I felt him put his coat over my shoulders and wrapped his arm around them. Leaning against him, I looked up at him and gave a smile. Soon the wrangler was pulled up and he helped me into the car. Getting into the driver’s seat, he closed the door and untied the tie he was wearing.
During the drive to Natasha and I’s house, we were sharing stories and memories from our childhood. He also explained the reason why Jake called him Baby on Board sometimes. I laughed at the stories that he had with his crew. I guess he’s glad that he’s permanently stationed here with his crew.
Pulling up in front of the house, he got out of the driver’s seat and helped me out of the car. Walking me up to the door, we stood there for a moment, waiting to see what happens next.
“Thanks for taking me home,” I thanked him.
“No problem, it’s nice seeing you again,” he smiled. “You look beautiful by the way.”
“Thank you,” I looked down at the ground and blushed.
I soon felt his fingers touch my chin and moved my head to face him. Don’t know the reason why but I started to feel my heart begin to race as my stomach fluttered. Leaning my head in as his did, our lips touched and moved. It continued for a few more seconds as it got more passionate until we detached, looking at each other with a blush on our faces.
“Did that just?” I asked.
“Yeah, it did,” he nodded his head.
“Well, I should head in now,” I told him and grabbed my house key from my clutch.
Unlocking it, I pushed open the door and walked into the house without closing the door. I tossed my clutch on the kitchen island and started my walk down the hallway to my room. Hearing the sound of Robbie’s footsteps entering the house, I looked over my shoulder a little and gave him a wink. Entering my room, I took off my heels and started to unzip the back of my dress.
“Need help with that?” I heard Robbie’s voice enter my room.
“Please,” I answered despite me not needing any help.
Chills were sent throughout my body as I felt his breath hit my neck as he slowly unzipped my dress. I bit the inside of my lip as he started to place kisses down my neck. With my dress off, leaving me in my undergarments, I turned and started to kiss him as he led me to my bed.
*Aftercare*
Tangled up in my bed sheets, Robbie laid flat on his back while I laid my head on his chest. One of his arms wrapped around my waist while the other drew circles on my thigh.
“Imagine if we told younger us that we’ll be in this situation,” I chuckled, looking up at him.
“I feel they would be grossed out,” he let out a laugh. “I miss this, I miss us hanging out with each other.”
“Me too,” I agreed. “It sucked that we weren’t able to keep in contact with each other.”
He nodded his head and hummed in agreement. “But hey, we got to see each other again even though it took over ten years.”
“True,” I laughed.
“I know I already said that you look beautiful but that dress on you is amazing,” he complimented me.
“Well, I should buy that dress in other colors if it makes you do this,” I smirked as I gestured to us in bed.
“Nah, anything you wear can make me feel like this,” he placed a kiss on my lips.
“This isn’t going to affect our friendship right?” I asked him.
“I already lost you once, not losing you again,” he said while pulling me closer to him.
I smiled and laid my head on his chest letting out a yawn. Closing my eyes, I drifted off to sleep.
*The Morning After*
Opening my eyes, I looked over to see Robbie still sleeping. Smiling to myself and last night’s events, I quietly got out of bed and threw on his dress shirt. Walking out of my room, I walked down the hall to the kitchen to see Natasha standing there with a cup of coffee and a smirk on her face.
“So, my backseater huh?” She asked.
“Shush,” I blushed a little while pouring myself a cup of coffee.
“Hey, just saying he’s a really good guy but you already know that,” she told me.
Soon we heard footsteps revealing Robbie in his boxers and hair disheveled.
“Yeah, he really is.”

This is a little one shot In put together in the Universe of "I'll ride in this life with you" from @sassenach082 ! Hope you enjoy :)
---------------------------------------------------------------
"Bradley?!" Ice called from down the stairs. It was almost time for dinner so he wanted to call the five year old downstairs.
"Bradley?!" Ice called again. When he still got no response, Ice made his way up the stairs. He was getting a little worried now.
"Bradley?" Ice asked again when he gently pushed the door of his bedroom open. Ice saw a flash of something disappearing under the bed, a spooked Bradley turning towards Ice.
"What have you got there, baby Goose?" Ice asked smiling.
"Nothing" Bradley lied.
"Don't lie, baby Goose. That's not polite" Ice said sternly.
"Now what have you got there?" Ice continued with a smile. Bradley sighed.
"It's a surprise" He said and got on his knees and grabbed something from under his bed. It was a cardboard F-14 that was painted grey. There was one black dot with white and red stripes and one red dot with white and blue stripes, where the pilot and his RIO would be seated.
"It's a gift for Mav. For Father's day" Bradley said a little shy. Ice almost started crying right then and there. Almost, but he held himself together.
"Oh, Bradley. He'll love it" Ice said fondly to the five year old in front of him.
"Really?" Bradley asked hopeful.
"Absolutely" Ice answered.
"When did you make this, baby Goose?" He asked as well. Bradley smiled.
"I made them at school with Ms. Anderson" the kid beamed.
"It's awesome, baby Goose. Now let's go eat. Mav's hungry" Ice said, picking up the five year old. Bradley giggled.
"So am I"
"Well then it's good that I came to fetch you" Ice smiled. Bradley nodded and they walked down the stairs towards the kitchen.
Little did Ice know, that Bradley had anotyher, identical, F-14 under his bed. But with a grey dot with blue stripes and a white dot on each side and a grey dot with red stripes and a yellow dot on each side.
---------------
It was a friday night. Ice, Mav and Bradley just had dinner. Ice and Mav were cleaning up and doing the dishes. Bradley had disappeared to his room.
"I'm gonna go get Bradley ready for bed" Mav said once they were almost finished.
"Yeah, I'll finish up around here" Ice nodded. Mav disappeared up the stairs, but quickly returned again.
"What's wrong?" Ice asked, instantly worried.
Mav sprung to attention and said:
"We have orders to wait on the couch from admiral Bradley"
Mav grinned after that and Ice started to laugh.
"You really are an idiot, you know that?" Ice said. Now smiling softly at his wingman.
"But I'm your idiot" Mav grinned.
Ice shook his head and made his way over to the couch. Mav went to sit next to him.
"Are you ready?!" Bradley yelled from upstairs.
"Yes!" Mav yelled back. They heard Bradley storming down the stairs. The five year old appeared in front of them with two boxes in gift wrapper in his hands.
"What's all this, baby Goose?" Mav asked.
"It's a gift. For Father's day" Bradley said smiling. Mav looked a bit surprised by that. Bradley gave Mav one of the boxes.
"Open it" he said. Mav carefully opened the gift wrapper and then the box itself. Inside was the cardboard F-14, Ice had seen Bradley try to hide. Mav instantly teared up.
"Oh, I love it, baby Goose! Thank you" he said and gave the kid a hug. Ice watched the whole encounter fondly.
"What's in the other box, baby Goose?" Mav asked then. Bradley smiled widely and said:
"This one's for Ice!"
"For me?" Ice voiced his surprise. Bradley nodded and gave him the box. Ice opened it carefully. Inside was a cardboard F-14, identical to Mav's, but this one had his and Slider's helmets painted onto it.
"Oh, Bradley" Ice said choked up.
"It's beautiful!" and he pulled the kid, their kid, in his arms.
"I love you, papa" Bradley whispered into Ice's ears.
"I love you too, baby Goose" Ice whispered back.
The cardboard F-14 hung on to Ice's locker ever since.
_______________________________________________________
That's it! Hope you liked it :)
This is the plane I had in mind for the father's day gifts, but then F-14.

icemav headcanons
Tumblr media
**important to note
-goose lives, just injured after the canopy incident so mav still flies with merlin for the mission and icemav still become wingmen
-most of these are set after they all graduate top gun
ice and maverick have always thought the other was attractive, it wasn’t a very well kept secret if their time at topgun was any indicator, and anybody with eyes could tell that they wanted to be with each other and finally, finally they fell into bed together after months of dancing around eachother and their feelings and it was eye opening for the both of them. mav looked ready to bolt when he woke up next to him because ice meant more to him than a quick fuck but he didn’t know how to tell him that and didn’t want to fuck anything but between them, but ice held onto him with, the patience of a saint knowing that he’d just gotten maverick to see his feelings and he wasn’t letting him go anytime soon.
they talked it out with only a few shed tears before maverick pushed ice back down onto the bed and showed him just how much he meant to him. (mav called goose and told him everything, with carole right there behind him chipping in and adding her own comentary) (apparntly goose owed her five dollars because she knew that it was going to happen soon after the mission, goose thought it would’ve happened taken months) (mav rolled his eyes at gooses’ lack of faith in his ability to get with a guy he liked but didn’t rebut it because he never thought he’d get here with ICEMAN of all people)
mav and ice do NOT take things slowly, as neither of them are known to be passive about what they want. they already spend most of their time together during the day as their stations together, but now they have an excuse (they didn’t need one before) to spend even MORE time with eachother and they are insufferably in love.
ice who drinks coffee in the morning not because he needs it to wake up, but because he likes the taste. mav who needs coffee to even think about starting the day, so ice, who wakes up first, makes mav’s coffee first then his own. (he likes seeing mav all soft and sleepy in the morning, and he’s always rewarded for his efforts with a happy grin, a soft kiss to his cheek and a “thanks sweetheart,” in mavs delicious morning voice, but he likes to say it’s because it’s the only time mav isn’t running his mouth)
mav runs warm but ice, ironically, runs warmer, so they buy the best a/c money can buy because ice is a tactile mother fucker and can’t sleep without at least one limb touching mav at all times.
everytime ice gets deployed somewhere different than mav (which is hardly ever because the navy recognizes how fucking good they are together) maverick relishes in the free space because while ice curls up to go to sleep, mav spreads fucking eagle. legs and arms out starfish style (though he is always very happy to have his personal extra limb back in bed with him)
ice sleeps on the left and mav sleeps on the right, though sometimes when mav gets sick or ice isn’t there, he’ll sleep on ice’s side.
ice rarely gets sick, he has seasonal allergies that he takes medicine for but when he does get sick he gets SICK. he’s coughing and hacking and he can’t breathe and everything that could go wrong goes wrong. mav always knows when ice is sick because he gets cold and clammy and miserable.
ice never takes being sick seriously and will try and go back to work without much care and it takes mav (and slider usually) to coerce him back to bed with a good book and promise to keep with updated on any changes back on base.
mav on the other hand sneezes twice in a row and swears he’s dying, but he’s just dramatic. mav gets sick A LOT. the weather changes and he’s down with a head cold. he’s also allergic to cats and ice’s family has three fat, spoiled tabbies named mimi, stella and princess and they LOVE maverick.
however, poor mav can’t even be near anything they touch because he’ll break out in hives. he will however down as many benedrill as he can and play with them because he loves them just as much.
his attempts to convince ice to let them get a cat always end in a resounding no, because ice actually likes having his boyfriend not in severe medical distress because a cat so much as looked at him
being sick is one thing but when it comes to the big stuff like injuries, broken bones and the like, no one takes it more seriously than ice. as soon as something feels off, ice is at the base hospital asking them to look over it, he doesn’t want to jeopardize his flying at all.
on the other hand mav gets such an adrenaline kick whenever he’s in the air that he doesn’t feel any injuries until it’s too late.
once he wasn’t strapped in properly in the tomcat and tuned a corner so sharp he rammed his elbow against the canopy and it shattered. goose heard a sickening crack come from mav’s general direction and the groan that he let at the turn and immediately told mav that he had to land the plane. mav asked goose if he was okay and all goose could do was gape at his idiot of a best friend becuse there’s no way that if goose heard the crack from somewhere in mav’s body over the roar of the engine that mav wasn’t feeling at least something.
eventually, after he got mav to land after he stubbornly stupidly insisted he was fine and that he needed to finish his training, goose flagged down medical and when they arrived mav’s flight suit was drenched in blood at the arm and he was leaning on goose just trying to breathe through the pain because the adrenaline he had from flying was gone and the pain kicked in real fast and all he remembers is someone touching his elbow and how much it burned and white hot pain coursed through his body .
he’s told later in the hospital that he passed out, eyes rolling back and that with his maverick fucking luck he actually landed on his elbow, injuring it more before anyone could catch him. he then passes out again, though this time it’s medically induced by anesthesia as he’s being prepped for surgery.
the next thing he knows he’s waking up in a hospital room on base with a cast on his elbow and ice sitting at his side. once he’s wake ice looks at him for a few seconds, looking at him worriedly as he breaths out a soft, “jesus mav,” under his breath. then remembers he’s upset with maverick and loudly recalls all the details for him and yells at him for 25 minutes for being so stupid for keeping himself in the air injured and bleeding and how one day he swears mav will kill himself in the cockpit and when he does ice will dig him up and kill him himself because, “pete you’re not dying by anyone’s hands but mine.” and mav stopped listening because ice had obviously not realized the slip but maverick did and wow did it make his heart beat faster because that was the first time ice had said mavericks name. not mitchell, not maverick but pete.
so pete leaned up and smiled so wide it made ice pause because there’s no way mav was smiling through his lecture (if being called a reckless fool by your boyfriend was considered lecturing) and then he felt mav pull him by shirt collar with his good hand and kiss him speechless. “that’s the first time you’ve called me pete, tom.” and wow ice loved hearing his name on mav’s lips so he just smiled back, “yeah, well maybe ill do it more if you aren’t so stupid.” and all mav could do was laugh and kiss tom again within an inch of his life.
goose, who came to visit with bradley just sighed and covering his kids eyes and clearing his throat loudly. ice and mav jumped apart quickly and blushed, before mav smiled as bradley (who’d been let down by goose once they’d separated, smiled widley at his godfather, “MAV! daddy said you got hurt cause you were dumb so im here to make you feel better!” and ice chocked out a laugh as mav shot his best friend a look, “oh did he, well your daddy must love me very much if he brought my favorite godson over to see me” and goose and ice just rolled their eyes fondly because mav and bradley did this little routine so often it was second nature, “but mav im your ONLY godson.” “that’s why you’re my favorite baby goose.”
it made mav and bradley happy so no one had to heart to tell them it was a corny joke, because it was cute to see mav so happy. everyone could tell just how much he loved the kid and bradley loved his godfather just as much.
mav smiled wider, if that was possible, and picked bradley up with his good arm and placed him on his lap. ice sat next to the two of them and goose on the chair beside of mavericks bed, and the four of them just chatted, well it mostly consisted of goose and ice ragging on mav for being a bad influence of bradley, and for being dumb in general (calling him a dumbass in as kid friendly a way as they could) when carole was about to join them and saw just how happy and relaxed they all were, so she snapped a picture of them, which made them all turn to her at the flash. “whatcha up to honey?” goose had asked as he called his wife over to join then and pulled her on his lap, “oh nothing, just admiring our family.”
and if ice’s smile got a little wobbly at being included by the most important people in his boyfriends life, then no one else had to know but him.

I Walk The Line
Top Gun
Icemav, Tom “Iceman” Kazansky and Pete “Maverick” Mitchell
(Drabble, enemies to friends to lovers, getting together, 100 words)
***
“You know,” Iceman said, a hesitance in his tone as he traced the edge of Maverick’s hairline. “If this isn’t… you know, if you’re just looking for something casual. I won’t stop you from—“
“It isn’t.” Maverick’s voice held a certainty he had not shown in a while. “This is serious to me. I want this to be something I can trust.”
“I trust you. And I don’t do things halfway.” It sounded like a warning, maybe it was.
“Did I give you the wrong impression, Kazansky?” Maverick smiled, bringing their lips together in a kiss. “I’m all or nothing.” **

I am sad you are leaving this blog but I want to squeeze in a question. You are a very natural writer and make it look so easy. I was curious if you use a beta reader for your work?
Hi ❤️ i do not, which is why my fics are so stupidly long😕 i have “can’t kill my darlings” syndrome, i have way too much to say and i don’t know how to prioritize what it is i want to say, so i say EVERYTHING. i genuinely believe my fics would be sooo much better if they were edited by someone else. someone who isn’t afraid to look at a scene/sentence and say “that’s stupid as fuck/not as successful as u want it to be, cut it.” im still in the process of editing so liiiiike if you have any issues with my fics literally just dm me to tell me what’s dumb/not working & what i should cut, it would actually be sooo helpful (you can ignore this most recent fic bc the whole point of that was stuff that would’ve been cut anyway lol)
i would have loved a beta reader but … you know me, i am so shit at time management and deadlines that 1.) i never had time for a beta reader because i am always over deadline by the time i finish a fic draft (like the slider one shot, which i said i would post last November and actually posted in April, 5 mo later)
and 2.) i never share ACTUAL wips with anyone, not even on wednesdays. My wip wednesdays are, and always have been, a total sham. most of my wips usually look like this
Tumblr media
right up until like the week before i post them. like EVERY SINGLE scene looks like this, incomprehensible to anyone except me with my little delusions in my head, until i pull a few all- nighters and brute-force the transitions and the actions into place. so like i can’t share a real draft with anyone until (in my opinion) it’s basically passable enough to be a final draft anyway, especially for fanfic, like, my standards Are lower for “good enough” when it comes to fanfic. Above ⬆️ becomes below⬇️. obviously this ⬇️ isn’t perfect and will still need a final pass edit but it’s 🤷🏽‍♀️ good enough
Tumblr media
what i really need a beta for is to tell me, in no uncertain terms, if this level of detail/the existence of this scene itself is actually ever warranted. lol.
3.) as previously mentioned i can’t hold a deadline/reply to messages on time to save my life so any beta would absolutely despise working with me i fear

Nobody But Me - t.k
Tumblr media
a/n: i'm not an avid fan of iceman, BUT, this was so fun to write, and may have just changed my perspective........ i decided to make the reader goose's lil sis cos the anon used she/her pronouns in their request, and also because i thought it would be kinda cute if she was a little bradshaw. also i tried with the shyness part, but it was a little difficult, i hope you still like this though :,( thank you for requesting and i hope i did a good job in fulfilling your request!
also pls don’t repost or translate any of my work.. i don’t give you permission to do that.
pairings: iceman x reader, platonic!goose x reader, platonic!maverick x reader
warnings: jealousy, ice being a stud at the end, feelings of insecurity?
wc: 2,565
the request: 'iceman oneshot where he dates a civilian who is usually shy. But with the attention that ice gets from all the women, she starts to get jealous and decides to wear sexy clothes (like baddie girl style) to try to make him jealous. You Can decide how it ends… thank you' read it in full here
Dating the infamous Iceman wasn't as easy as you thought it was going to be. The man was a ladies magnet, of course - who can blame them? It was like he was sculpted by Adonis himself; the high, prominent cheekbones, full luscious lips, piercing blue eyes. It was a recipe for heart-break. At first, you were okay with the attention he received from the hordes of women that he attracted each time you two set foot outside your home, but it increasingly became less okay for you. You scrutinised and compared yourself to each woman that stared at him or spoke to him with lovestruck eyes; you could practically hear their hammering hearts as they spoke to Ice.
Ice was due to take you to the annual Navy ball tonight, and you knew that you were going to have to endure the staring eyes you've grown to hate. You couldn't help the jealousy bubbling within you, it wasn't who you were at all - hell, you'd always despised jealous people. To you, jealousy was a petty thing and you always thought you'd never experience such a thing because you were content with your life. That was until a certain show-stopping naval aviator strutted into it. Being a shy person, you were still in complete shock that Ice liked you, you presumed he wanted a confident, out-going lady - but to your surprise, he chased after you.
Tonight you told Ice that you were going to meet him there. Your brother Goose said he'd pick you up on the way with Maverick, and so you were currently waiting for him to arrive. Feeling a little extra insecure tonight, you decided to slip out of your comfort zone and opt for a velvet, sapphire blue bodycon knee length dress. The neckline plunged slightly, revealing some cleavage, two thick blue straps hoisted your breasts upwards and wrapped over your clavicles in a halter-neck. The top of the dress rested off your shoulders, the long sleeves encapsulated your arms all the way down to your wrists. You added a pair of translucent black tights and some black patent heels.
You sat on your sofa, knee bouncing lightly in anticipation, your hands beginning to feel a little clammy. "C'mon, Nick, where are you?" You muttered to yourself, wiping the anxious sweat from the palms of your hands on the sofa you were perched upon. Soon enough, the roar of his truck rattled your windows and you quickly rushed up and out the door, purse in hand, a big grin splattered on your pretty face. Goose stuck his head out the window, a confused expression on his face. You spotted Maverick in the backseat who waved at you with a handsome smile spreading on his lips. Happily, you waved back at your friend.
"Wow, Y/N, you look beautiful," Your brother was in shock at your appearance, considering he usually only ever sees you in sweats with your hair tied up. Although, you may have dressed up a little more tonight, definitely out of your comfort zone. Totally not related to making your boyfriend jealous. "Are you sure you're my sister?" Goose frowned, pointing his finger at you in a comical manner.
"Thanks Nick, you look great too in your little uniform." You taunted him. "Aw, you look so cute!" You grinned, trying to embarrass your older brother. He quickly leaned back into his car, rolling up the window with a thunderous look on his face. You bit back a laugh as you climbed inside the car, staring at Goose beside you with an amused, shit-eating grin on your face.
"You know, if you weren't my sister, I would have left your ass on your doorstep and driven off without you, Y/N." Nick grumbled, his hand gripping the gearstick as he switched it into first, pulling off.
"I think you're lucky to have her as a sister." Maverick shrugged from behind you two, grinning at you.
"You tryna walk to the place, Mav?" Nick glared at his best friend in the rear-view mirror, earning a hushed chuckle from you.
****
The three of you walked into the function room, your eyes darting around the place to try and spot your boyfriend. "Guys, can you see Tom anywhere?" You asked, glancing at the two smart-looking pilots beside you.
"Uhh," Nick hummed, craning his neck to search the room, leaning from left to right. "No, I can't. I need to go to the restroom, I'll be back in a couple minutes." He quickly said, returning to his normal stance. Nick placed a hand on Maverick's shoulder and glanced between the two of us. "Keep her safe whilst I'm gone." He said with a smile, swiftly walking off in the direction of the toilets. You rolled your eyes at his words and groaned quietly.
"I'm a grown woman, Nick, I can take care of myself." You grumbled, making Maverick laugh. "Oh, is that funny?" Looking at the darker-haired pilot to the left of you, he grinned at you. You'd known Maverick since you were a small teen, so you were quite close to him, with him being Goose's pilot and all.
"You know, I don't think you could handle yourself in here, Y/N," He sighed, leading the two of you toward the bar. "Navy men aren't... the typical kind of guy you're used to." Maverick explained, his eyes locking with a stunning blonde across the bar. You internally groaned at him.
"You're acting like I didn't grow up with a brother in the Navy, Mav, and did you forget that you're the cockiest one of all? Let alone the fact that my boyfriend is also in your class?" You replied, folding your arms across your chest.
"Touché," Maverick chuckled as you reached the bar, his arm coming to rest against the surface, leaning his side on it. A smug smile reached your lips as you perched yourself on top of a free barstool. "Goose is right though, some of them can be a bit... over-bearing, or forward." He added, catching the eye of the bartender. "Two beers and a...?"
You looked up from your lap, sheepishly glancing at the bartender who had a kind smile upon his face. "A coke, please." You replied quietly. The man nodded and wandered off to fulfil your request.
As the bartender moved out of earshot, you looked back to Maverick. "There's no way you're complaining about how some guys can be over-bearing or forward when you sing to women in public to pick them up." You couldn't hold back the laugh that bubbled in your throat. The bartender returned, sliding your drinks to you with a gracious and grateful smile. Maverick said a quiet thanks and passed you your coke.
"You act like that isn't a good way to pick up women." He scoffed, taking a sip of his beer.
"Mav, I'm a woman myself. I can tell you that it's an awful way." You laughed, fingers anxiously fiddling in your lap. Maverick noticed, and he couldn't help but feel bad for you. He knew you didn't do well in big crowds, so tonight must have been hard for you.
"You okay?" He asked, nibbling on his bottom lip.
"Yeah, just a little nervous, I haven't seen Tom anywhere." You sighed, eyes peering around the room in another weak attempt to find your boyfriend. Maverick nodded at you. Suddenly, your curious eyes had found Ice stood with Slider, and of course, a swarm of ladies were gathered around him with amused, awe-struck grins on their faces. A strange and uncomfortable feeling settled in your stomach. "Can we go dance?" You quickly asked, pleading Maverick with your eyes. Two can play at this game, you thought. Knowing Ice disliked Maverick, you thought it was a perfect way to get his attention.
"Sure, yeah," Maverick's brows knotted at your unusual request, but he didn't decline it. He wanted you to feel comfortable, especially since you were Goose's little sister. Off the record, he also thought you were very pretty, so he definitely wouldn't deny you a dance. You quickly hopped up from your seat as Maverick quickly finished his beer, your hand grabbing his to lead you to the dance floor. The pilot saw the mischievous glint in his eyes and he was suspicious. "Are you sure you're okay, Y/N/N?" Maverick quietly asked once more and you nodded as the two of you reached the dancefloor, making sure you were in Ice's line of sight.
You grabbed Maverick's hand and placed it on your waist, his other one settling in your hand. You sighed. "Yeah, I just wanted to dance with you," You replied, keeping your eyes trained on your boyfriend from afar who was still laughing with the group of women that had gathered around him and Slider. Not wanting to torture yourself anymore, you looked at the ground, trying to bite back the tears that were beginning to well up in your eyes. Maverick's eyes were searching the floor for Goose as he noticed the change in your mood.
"If you want to go home I can get Goose?" The pilot asked you, and you shook your head, lifting your head up to look at him. "He's just over there talking to Sundown and Wolfman." He nodded to the right of you and you looked, smiling as you watched your brother banter with his friends.
"No, no it's fine, I'll be fine." You smiled. "So, have you seen anyone you like?" You asked, desperate to change the subject and avert the attention from you.
"There was a blonde at the bar who was making eyes at me," Maverick replied with a smug smile and you cocked a brow, throwing a quick look to the bar. "I think she went home though." He said dejectedly, noticing your dire attempt to spot her.
"I'm sure there will be plenty more women lining up for you, Mav, don't worry," You sighed, soon laughing afterwards as you noticed his pouty face.
Unbeknownst to you, in the back of the bar, Ice was watching you laugh with Maverick as he held you on the dancefloor. Slider's eyes flicked to his friend's concerned face, watching the way his jaw clenched with irritation. "You good, Ice?" Slider asked cautiously. Ice knew you looked good, too good - he hoped it was him you were dressing up for, and no one else. He loved the way your dress hugged your curves and complimented your breasts, and he admired the way you had done your makeup. In all honesty, he thought you looked absolutely beautiful- stunning even.
"Yeah," Ice replied quickly, still staring at the two of you. God, it rattled him to his core to see Maverick of all people holding you like that and making you laugh. "I'm good." He gave a reassuring smile to his RIO, but it didn't do much. Slider was still suspicious, so he followed Ice's gaze, his eyes quickly landing on you and Maverick.
"Ah," Slider chuckled, earning a stern, disapproving look from Ice. "Mav's got your girl, huh?" He added, pressing salt to the wound.
"Maverick hasn't got anything, Slider." Ice frowned, voice venomous as he looked back at his RIO. Slider was a dick sometimes but he had Ice's back in all situations.
"Maybe you should go and fetch her before he sweeps her off her feet." Slider suggested, bringing the bottle of beer in his hands to his lips to take a swig. Ice didn't reply, he only averted his gaze back to you and Maverick, who was now twirling you around with big grins on both of your faces. Ice couldn't hold back the green fire that burned within him, his fingers twitching at his side as he tried to fight back the urge to go and steal you from Maverick and show him who you belonged to.
"Are you dizzy? I feel dizzy just watching you," Out of breath, you laughed at Maverick as he grinned brightly at you.
"Just a tad," You breathed out as Maverick laughed at you. "You wanna find Goose?" Before he could reply, his eyes looked above your head. You frowned at him, confused as to why he wasn't replying.
"Mitchell," A familiar voice spoke behind you, setting your body on fire. Shit.
"Kazansky," Pete replied back as you whipped around to face your boyfriend, his jaw tense and clenched with irritation. Tom glanced down at you, wrapping a tight and protective arm around your waist, his fingers roughly caressing your clothed skin. You saw the way he glared at your friend, and you felt a little guilty for dragging Maverick into your pettiness.
"See you later, Mav," You squeaked out sheepishly, throwing him an awkward smile from beside Iceman. Your boyfriend lead you away from the dance floor and to the bar, his hand never leaving your waist. "You okay, Tom?" You asked shyly and glanced up at him, his blue eyes piercing yours.
"Yeah, baby," He smiled down at you, flashing you a heart-stopping smile. "I just didn't like the way Maverick was holding you." He admitted as you leant against the bar with your hip. Ice shuffled in front of you, and you let your hands sit on his chest, frowning. He slowly brushed your hair out of your eyes, a blush creeping up your neck.
"What do you mean? We were just dancing?" You asked, puzzled at his words.
"Nobody but me gets to hold you like that, sweetheart." Iceman replied with a low, darker voice, leaning down with a smirk on his lips, your cheeks somehow getting pinker. You swallowed thickly, your heart rate going insane from the close proximity between you and Tom. You almost couldn't handle it when he returned his strong hands to your waist, giving you a breath-taking squeeze as he pressed a soft kiss to your jaw.
"Tom," You breathed out, your hands flying to grasp at his neck. His lips curled into a well pleased smirk as he listened to your shallow breaths, clearly effected by his touch. "People are watching us." You bashfully stated and Iceman pressed another kiss to the corner of your lips.
"Good," He murmured against you, kissing you this time. "They need to know that you're mine and I'm yours." He mumbled through kisses, your fingers tightening against his neck as he pulled you flush against him - so close that you could almost hear his perfect heartbeat. Right then and there, you knew you had to have him.
"Ice, take me home," You gasped as his hand slid down your waist and to your thigh, squeezing it. You felt the fire build just from that one touch and you knew you wouldn't be able to fight it back any longer. "Please." You begged, letting your hands slide down his chest sensually. Tom smirked at you and took your hand in his, pulling you from the bar you two were stood at.
"Yes, ma'am." He grinned at you and you felt your knees go weak as you stared up at him, a lustful smile coming to rest on your lips. As the two of you walked towards the exit, you found Goose and Maverick stood with Slider and Sundown across the room who looked confused, but you simply waved at them, bidding them farewell. It was too loud to shout across, so Goose made a phone call sign with his hand and you laughed, nodding at him. He just wanted to know that you were gonna get home safe. But of course you were, Ice was with you.

Behave
Rating: M
Relationship: Iceman/Maverick
Summary: in which Mav is a little shit and won't let Ice listen to a speech
---
Ice gave his partner a brief but telling look. Mav rolled his eyes in response and kept on bouncing on the heel of his feet.
Ice leaned over to him, "Behave."
A slight smirk played aroubd the corner of his mouth when he whispered, "Why? Im bored."
"I know."
They shared another look and Ice saw, he could  just tell by the twinkle in Mav's eyes, that Mav would not behave.
He sighed, "We're halfway through. I can't leave."
"You could take a break... I could use one."
Ice straightened his back and watched one of his superiors talk on a small stage.
"After the speech," Ice muttered under his breath.
Mav nudged his side, "Yes, Sir."
"Really?" Ice asked, his eyebrows cocked. "That's a low blow, Mav," Ice chuckled and took a swig from his champagne.
"I know it turns you on."
"That's what you want to do? Annoy me until I drag you out of here?"
Next to him Mav made a low humming sound in the back of his throat. He touched Ice's elbow, making him look at him, "That's exactly what I want, Sir."
Now it was Ice's turn to roll his eyes. Fondly.
"Unfortunately, that's not gonna happen."
For a moment Maverick stayed quiet, then the hold on his elbow tightened and he dragged Ice down so he could whisper into his ear, "Well, then I'll have to find a nice spot just for myself and fuck myself open on my fingers, pretending they're yours, and get off, touching myself thinking about your mouth on me."
"Mav..!" Ice choked on his words. One day Maverick would be the death of him.
"You know, I'd let you know where I was going, but uhm-" he nodded at the stage, "since you're so captivated by his speech, I'll leave you to it."
Just like that Mav was gone. Ice watched him make his way through the crowd and when he turned around, eyebrows raised in question and invitation, Ice muttered a quiet "fuck it" threw back the rest of his champagne and followed his disaster of a partner.

Despite not living in San Diego, I was familiar with the infamous Hard Deck. Everyone with a brother or friend in Top Gun knew about the bar. Relationships were formed and broken there, brawls were apparently a common occurrence, and bartenders and waitresses were never short on military men to choose from. The stories Slider brought home made me want to pack my belongings and join the Navy, although some tales were a tad explicit.
But I didn’t want to be walking through the Hard Deck's door right now. Slider had misled me into thinking I was walking to dinner to catch up with friends at a small, quiet restaurant. That was a huge mistake. Row after row of cars filled the parking lot, and the motorcycle section was completely full. The place was practically bursting at the seams with patrons.
“Ron, when I said I wanted to spend time with my brother this weekend, I did not mean at a rowdy bar!” I exclaimed as my brother, Slider, pulled me through the packed doorway of the Hard Deck.
“Shouldn’t have come this weekend, then,” Slider replied. When I groaned, he turned around and grabbed my shoulders, forcing me to look him in the eye, “Please, just suck it up for me this one time. We’ll do whatever you want tomorrow.”
I rolled my eyes, “As long as you get your hands off me.”
Slider lifted his hands and, in the blink of an eye, he dashed to the bar. I sighed and shook my head. This trip had been a pain in the ass, let alone this brief encounter. In fact, if my parents hadn’t offered to pay the full price for the flight, I wouldn’t have come. Slider and I had never been close, for some obvious reasons, and visiting him in San Diego was more of a California vacation for me than a trip to see family.
I meandered through the crowd aimlessly, looking for anyone or anything that caught my attention. The posters and memorabilia on the wall provided entertainment for a small period of time. Yet, I quickly became bored. I stood on my tip-toes and looked over towards the bar, seeing if I could easily order a drink. Men in white and blue hounded the bar, drooling over the female bartenders and trying to order a drink.
To the right, Slider was there talking to a blonde man I didn’t recognize. His back was towards the bar and he was carelessly eating bar mix as he talked to my brother. Something about him was familiar, yet I couldn’t put my finger on his identity without seeing his face.
His presence didn't bother me, and I walked over to the other side of the bar to order a drink so as not to disrupt my brothers' conversation. At first, the bartender didn't notice me. She was too preoccupied with receiving compliments from the throngs of Navy men who surrounded the bar. She eventually walked over to me, clearly disappointed that her next customer wasn't a hot Navy pilot, and I purchased my drink.
I returned my gaze across the bar to my brother and his companion. As I made eye contact with Slider, I smiled and raised my glass. He reciprocated, but instead of engaging in conversation or approaching me, he nudged his friend. When the blonde man turned around, he was instantly recognized. It was the man, the myth, the legend: Tom Kazansky.
My brother's closest companion.
A casual acquaintance.
Someone who always seemed to be on the periphery of my life.
All of these qualities apply to Tom Kazansky. Iceman, as his friends refer to him.
“Hey Iceman!”
I called over the roar of people bantering around the wooden bar.
“Hey Y/N! Good to see you.”
“Good to see you as well, Ice!”
We both nodded to one another, making a fake clink of our glasses over the bar.
I assumed that was the end of our interaction because there was no reason for us to communicate any further.
We were acquaintances, not close friends.
I had no common interests with Iceman, no established relationship, and to be honest, I'm not into blondes.
But he was nice, just nice enough to make his presence pleasant whenever we were together.
Then there was the ego issue, which I'd rather not discuss at this time.
“Hello everybody!”
I could recognize that sweet, singsongy voice anywhere. I snapped my head around, averting my gaze from Iceman. Penny stood atop a small stage only slightly raised from the ground, microphone in hand, confidently addressing the audience.
“As you may have heard I got a new karaoke machine!”
Penny indicated an old, blocky karaoke system with a small screen positioned atop a spare table.
Oh, that's what it was.
It was antique, a relic from the past. However, as long as it played cheesy romance songs on repeat and provided the option to sing into a few microphones, clubgoers would eat it up.
“Who wants to go first?”
The entire club held their breaths.
Oh, come on. I thought for sure at least one drunk would be brave enough to belt a tune.
“No one?”
Silence.
I looked around the bar until my gaze was drawn to Iceman.
He was… smirking? And staring at me?
What the hell?
I cocked a brow in his direction.
“I’d like to go first!”
While maintaining eye contact with me, Iceman called to Penny.
“But I want it to be a duet.”
No.
Oh hell no.
Oh fuck no.
My heart stopped.
A duet?
With Iceman?
He had to be fucking kidding me.
“The time of my life by Bill Medley and Jennifer Warnes please Penny.”
The entire bar erupted into applause.
Oh God. That idiotic corny song from that idiotic ass movie. While the patrons continued their chorus of delight, Iceman strolled over to me, his ego larger than the entire city of San Diego.
“Wanna be my duet partner baby?”
Baby?
What. The. Hell.
“You’ve gotta be kidding me Tom.”
Iceman shrugged.
“Why would I be messing with you?”
“Because why would you be serious?“
Unfortunately, the excitement had died down, and the bar patrons could sense my reluctance to sing.
“Sing with him!”
A random man shouted in a deep, raspy voice.
“Sing! Sing! Sing!”
With each passing second, more people joined the chorus of exclamations.
This was so humiliating.
Not singing would be ten times more embarrassing than singing at this point. If I didn’t suck it up and belt, no doubt I’d gather a bunch of unnecessary attention.
“Fine!”
I shouted in annoyance.
“Yay!”
Everyone exclaimed joyfully in unison.
So I got on that fucking stage and started singing. I made an effort to be good in order to avoid drawing attention to myself for being bad. But not good enough to draw attention for being outstanding.
It was going well, microphone in hand, my adequate vocals and stage presence working in my favor. Despite the fact I couldn't shake the feeling Iceman was growing closer by the second. Iceman's voice was becoming raspier and more seductive with each passing second.
I kept my gaze straight, trying not to think about Tom seducing me only a foot away.
And I owe it all to you…
Final note. The final note before I could escape this horror. The final note before I could shake away everyone’s burning gaze. The final note before I could break away from Tom’s crushing presence.
My feet became disoriented.
I gasped, falling backwards as someone yanked on my shoulder, tugging me towards them.
I slid back into someone's strong arms, my gaze darting around the room until it settled on Iceman's bright green eyes.
What.
The.
Hell.
I furrowed my brow, one of Iceman’s strong arms entirely supporting my body as he dipped me down, my back only about a foot from the hard ground.
“Tom?-“
As the song faded into silence, he thrust his face forward, his lips crashing into mine. My initial reaction was to resist him, so I gasped against his lips, my hands finding their way to his chest to weakly push him away.
But his taste was so… enticing.
After only a moment, I found myself kissing him back. My eyes fluttered shut, my hands gently rubbing his clothed pectorals as a sense of bliss washed over me.
Our lips meshed together perfectly, the entire crowd of patrons erupting into a chorus of applause and cheers. The kiss grew hungry, desperation coursing through my veins as I longed for more.
Just as I was about to slip my tongue past his beautifully plush lips, he raised my body to a standing position, our lips pulling apart with a wet smack.
Tom raised his eyebrows in sarcastic shock.
“Wow honey, you’re crazier than I thought.”
As I hustled to avoid the awkwardness, my face flushed bright red, blood rushing to my cheeks.
So much for not attracting attention.
I pushed away, Iceman not resisting as I moved hurriedly through the crowds, excited drunks occasionally hollering in my direction.
I kept my head down, hurrying towards the bathroom, the intense sounds becoming too much for my overstimulated brain.
“Fuck.”
I mumbled under my breath.
“I fucking hate this shit.”
I flung open the bathroom door and slammed it shut behind me.
I sighed deeply, attempting to quiet my racing heart as the blood pumped through my ears.
Why did he have to kiss me?
God, I wasn’t supposed to be in love with him.
I wasn’t supposed to be in love with that egotistical maniac.
I backed myself up to the counter with the sinks built into the marble.
“Ugh, fuck this.”
I twisted the faucet handle, splashing cool water on my face and inhaling deeply.
“You good baby?”
My heart leapt from my chest. I jumped, turning my head to the side to see Iceman standing confidently in the dim bathroom light. His muscular arms were crossed over his well defined chest.
“What are you doing here Tom?”
Iceman chuckled, as if the answer was completely obvious.
“Giving you what you fucking want baby.”
He said blankly, his eyebrows slowly climbing up his brow.
“What?”
“Don’t play fucking dumb.”
My brain was disconnected from my mouth, I dropped my jaw and stared blankly into Iceman’s gorgeous green eyes. I couldn't say anything. I was unable to speak.
But words were unnecessary.
It was painfully obvious that Iceman knew exactly what sinful thoughts were brewing inside my brain.
He knew from the moment our lips broke away and he stared deeply into my lust blown eyes.
Iceman sauntered towards me, his strides long and slow.
The pressure was heightening.
My calm heart had been restarted, and the racing of my pulse had begun once more.
Tom assumed his position directly in front of me, his proud chest only inches away from mine.
“I bet you’re thinking about fucking me right now, aren’t yah baby?”
I gulped.
“I-“
“You don’t have to answer that if you don’t want to.”
Iceman's voice was husky and seductive. I wanted nothing more than to drop to my knees and suck him off until he came atop my tongue.
He took a small step forward until I was forced to cock my head upwards to stare him in the eyes.
“I already know the answer.”
Iceman licked his lips suggestively, his gaze drinking in every inch of my bright red face.
“You thought about my cock pumping inside of you the moment my lips touched yours, didn’t you?”
I sighed, my breathing uneven.
It was true.
I wanted his cock buried inside of me the moment I gave in to his enticing lips.
“I won’t let your imagination do all the work.”
His eyes found mine, and an intense, passionate stare was ignited between us.
“Tom…”
My eyes broke away from him and found the door.
“What if someone walks in?”
Iceman gripped my chin, his hand jerking my gaze back to meet his green eyes.
My eyes widened in surprise, and my heart slowed as I awaited his next action. The anticipation in the room rose tenfold.
“Then they’ll know just how good I make you feel.”
I was unsure. Iceman smirked in response to my unease.
“Oh, come on baby. I know you think it’s hot.”
Iceman pushed me back until my rear end struck the countertop. I threw my hand backwards to white-knuckle grip the marble's edge, inhaling deeply through my nose as I drank in the taste of stale alcohol on Iceman's incredibly skilled tongue. Iceman wedged himself in between my legs, his knee dangerously close to my core as his calloused hands found a comfortable position wrapped around my clothed waist.
“You’re an awfully good kisser for someone who spends almost their entire life trapped inside a plane.”
Iceman chuckled against my plush lips, bringing his knee upwards, hiking my skirt up to my hips as he ground his clothed knee against my clothed heat.
“Oh baby…”
He mumbled, his voice’s resonation now coming from the back of his throat.
I groaned uncontrollably, squeezing my eyes shut and digging my nails into Iceman's bicep as I spread my legs wider for him, resting my sweaty brow against his. Iceman’s hot breath fanned across my face, my groans stroking his comically large ego.
“How do you think I spend my free time?”
Despite my closed eyes, I could hear the thick smirk laced in his already arrogant tone.
Tom's hands dragged down to the sides of my pelvis, gripping the plush flesh of my hips and dragging me along his thigh. His muscular leg rippled as he pushed and pulled me atop the scratchy fabric of his jeans.
I dropped my jaw and threw my head back, exposing my neck to him as he dragged me along his thigh. Iceman pressed his lips to my neck's sensitive skin, sucking and biting a bright purple bruise into my skin. I gasped, taking command and grinding my pelvis aggressively into his thigh, becoming increasingly desperate for more as the wetness began to deep through the thin fabric of my panties.
“God I can’t wait to see your face when I bury my face in between those pretty little thighs of yours.”
He mumbled against my bruised neck. Iceman dragged his tongue along my jugular, stopping when the tip of his tongue teasingly grazed the thin skin beneath my earlobe. His wet mouth and deep sultry tone sent shivers down my spine, causing giant goosebumps to appear on every inch of my skin.
“You’re already so fucking worked up and I haven’t even touched you yet.”
As my intense arousal became noticeable, I gulped, a flush forming on my cheeks.
“Why don’t you get on with it then?”
“Oh come on baby, you know you like it when I make you beg for it.”
I asked, my voice trembling as my hips came to a halt. I nearly groaned from the lack of pleasure being applied to my soaking wet heat. But I needed to take control, even if only for a few seconds. I needed to tease Tom and show him that I could be the boss. If he liked the brief glimpse of my dominant side, he might want to relive the night's events, but with a different person holding the cards.
And the idea of being on top of Iceman, barking orders with his cock deep within me, sent a wave of heat down to my core.
I opened my eyes, creating passionate eye contact with Iceman, who had a smirk plastered on his wet lips.
“How do you know what I like?”
As I smacked him in the face with my low blow, Iceman gritted his teeth and furrowed his brow in annoyance. I scoffed, dragging my hand from his bicep to his well-defined pectoral muscles, fidgeting with the collar of his white t-shirt. I felt the intense pressure of his gaze bore into my skull as my eyes followed the path of my fingers.
“How ‘bout you hurry up before I get bored and go fuck Maverick.”
“You wouldn’t do that.”
Iceman stated firmly. I was really getting under his skin. I snapped my eyes up to his crushing gaze, trying not to falter in the face of his stare as I fought the desire to grind against his clothed thigh.
“You don’t know me.”
I smirked, chuckling slyly.
“Either you hurry up, eat me out, and make me cum so hard I’m seeing stars. Then bend me over this counter and fuck me until I can’t walk.”
Iceman raised his brows, a sly smile breaking through his stern facade. Tom lowered his knee and stood confidently in front of me, his expression urging me to keep going.
“Orrrrrrrrrr, you keep up the teasing shenanigans, I leave-“
I leaned in until our noses brushed against each other. My lips instinctively pulled towards his mouth, wanting more of his taste.
“And I fucking cuck you.”
I dropped my voice to a whisper.
Iceman chuckled and took a deep breath, our chests briefly touching, his firm yet slow heartbeat reverberating along my insides. If Iceman noticed my racing heart, my phony confidence would crumble. I hoped he wouldn't give my unhinged pulse a second thought.
“You’re mean, aren’t ya?”
He cupped my face with a calloused hand, dragging his thumb pad slowly and sensually along my cheekbone.
“I bet you I can fuck that attitude right outta ya.”
“Do it then.”
Iceman cocked an eyebrow.
“Alright then.”
Iceman redirected his grasp to my waist, effortlessly lifting me up onto the countertop. As the backs of my thighs pressed against the cold marble, I let out a quiet gasp. My hot, soaking wet core providing a stark contrast to the cool, dry counter.
Iceman’s talk figure shrunk down until his face was level with my clothed pussy. I spread my legs further, encouraging him to eat me out as our eyes connected in a moment of heated passion.
Tom spread his fingers along the tops of my thighs, bringing his touch to the waistband of my panties. He grasped onto the sides of my underwear, tugging them downwards. I shifted my hips to quicken the process. Without breaking eye contact, Iceman bunched my panties into a ball and stuffed them into the back pocket of his jeans.
Iceman threw my knees onto his broad shoulders and tugged me forward until his face was mere inches from where I desired him most. I leaned back and placed my hands on the cool countertop, bracing myself for what was to come.
My pussy began to ache, Iceman’s hot mouth teasingly moving against the insides of my thighs.
“I betcha Maverick wouldn’t make me wait this long.”
Iceman rolled his bright eyes, refocusing his gaze to my throbbing cunt, burying his face in between my thighs.
He licked a single stripe from the base of my pussy to my clit, drinking in my taste as he groaned, the vibrations sending a pleasurable jolt through my body.
“Don’t kid me baby, you wouldn’t be this fucking wet if you didn’t enjoy the foreplay.”
Iceman flashed me a smirk before wrapping his warm mouth around my swollen clit, the presence of his face between my thighs pushing my skirt up to my hips.
“Oh.”
I gasped, my mouth forming an o shape as I tangled a hand in Iceman’s straight blonde locks. He started off slow, gently sucking my swollen bud as he maintained heavy eye contact with me. Tom’s eyes bore into mine as he drew out every slow movement of his tongue against my soaking wet heat.
His mouth was doing little to quell the aching within my lower abdomen. I restrained myself from grinding into his face, my body desperate for friction. Instead, I showcased my tension by gripping his hair more intensely with every wimpy flick of my clit.
I flung my head back in shock, my body tensing up, my death grip on Iceman’s hair tighter as he gave a harsh suck to my clit.
“Is that what you want, baby?”
He asked, his tone low and sultry against my heat.
“Yeah… that’s what I want. That’s exactly what I want.”
Iceman began eating me out like a starved man. The suction of his mouth grew so strong he was forced to hollow his cheeks in order to provide me greater pleasure. His tongue flicked my bud with an increasingly intense pace, my knees instinctively crushing his head between my thighs.
“Fuck Tom.”
I mumbled almost incoherently as I felt Iceman’s growing smirk against my pussy. I stared at the blank ceiling above me, my eyes half lidded as I felt my orgasm rapidly approaching in the pit of my stomach. The coil was tightening.
“Ice…”
My eyelids fluttered shut.
“You’re gonna make me cum.”
“Well that is the goal sweetheart.”
Cocky bastard.
I utilized my grip on his hair to hold his mouth against my core, my hips gently rocking against his face in a desperate attempt for more pleasure.
I threw my head forward, drinking in the sight of Iceman’s gorgeous face buried between my legs, drinking in my juices, his large hands gripping the plush flesh on my thighs.
“Ice…”
I mumbled, my voice cut off as I moaned loudly, my brow knitting together due to my rapidly approaching orgasm.
The coil was pulled tight, my orgasm easily achievable thanks solely to Iceman’s skilled mouth. I grit my teeth, my thighs shaking in anticipation right before my intense release hit me like a ton of bricks.
“Fuck!”
I exclaimed as I came all over Iceman’s face, my head thrown back in pleasure as my lower abdomen released all of the collected tension.
Ice gave a few lazy flicks of my clit before rising to his full height. I slowly brought my gaze forward, my eyes connecting with his in a moment of passion. Tom’s pupils were blown with lust, his plump lips wet with my juices.
“Your pussy tastes so fucking good baby.”
Iceman ran his tongue along his mouth, collecting the cum that collected on his lips, his demeanor egotistical.
Although, in his defense, not many men could make me cum only using their mouth. I consider this a victory for him.
I grasped the hem of his shirt, pulling him forward in hopes of slightly intimidating him.
“Why don’t you hurry up and fuck me Iceman.”
Iceman smirked devilishly, his eyes narrowing.
“Oooooo. I like it when you're mean.”
Ice took a step backwards, his strong arms tugging me forward until my feet collided with the hard floor. My legs shook, the post orgasmic haze still in full swing.
Tom spun me around utilizing his firm grip on my waist, thrusting his hips forward to pin my pelvis against the marble countertop. I leaned on my elbows, staring at the bare wall in between the mirrors as I heard Ice unbuckling the thick buckle on his leather belt.
I gulped, my stomach flipping with anticipation, my blood running cold. I yearned to be filled with his thick cock, my pussy clenching desperately around nothing as I waited, anxiety coursing through my ice cold veins.
There was rustling.
He was unbuttoning his jeans.
I wanted to look back.
I wanted to see how perfect his cock was.
But why spoil the surprise?
A chill ran up my spine as Iceman thrusted my skirt upwards until the fabric pooled around my waist.
“I’m gonna fuck that sexy little attitude right outta yah.”
I inhaled shakily.
“Just… fucking do it already Iceman. I can’t wait any fucking longer.”
Iceman chuckled from behind my now fully exposed ass. A hand travelled up my backside until it reached my hair. He pushed my face downwards until my cheek was firmly pressed onto the cool countertop, my hands splaying out to my sides.
“Just sit back and take it like a good little girl.”
I swallowed thickly, a large lump forming inside my throat.
The tip of Iceman’s cock was dragged through my folds, stopping at my swollen clit. He rubbed it against my bud, eliciting a low groan from the back of my throat.
“Fuck…”
Iceman harshly tugged on the roots of my hair.
“You’ve done enough talking. Moans are the only thing I wanna hear coming from your pretty lips.”
Tom snapped his hips forward, our pelvises colliding as he bottomed out inside of my soaking wet cunt.
My jaw dropped as he stretched my walls to the brim. Iceman gasped, his hips stuttering as he relished in the feeling of my pussy wrapped around his thick cock.
“Who knew a girl with such a big fucking attitude could have such a good pussy?”
My attitude?
My attitude was big?
Right.
Fuck you, Iceman.
Or, rather, hurry up and fuck me, Iceman.
I kept my lips glued shut as Iceman began his brutal assault on my pussy. The resonant slapping sounds of sex reverberated off the thick bathroom walls, bouncing back to my ears.
My eyes fluttered shut against the cool marble as Iceman filled my cunt to the brim with every merciless thrust.
His breathing grew ragged, breathy and forced as the coil inside my stomach began to build. This time, much more intensely than before. The orgasm he was about to give me would be life altering, truly mind boggling.
The tip of his throbbing cock brushed against my g spot. I squeezed my eyes shut, my thighs clenching together instinctively as I grew closer to my much awaited release.
I gasped with every thrust, my body lurching forward against the smooth marble as Tom snapped his hips at an increasingly intense pace.
“Want me to fill you up baby? Want me to cum inside your pretty little pussy?”
I opened my mouth to speak.
“No. No talking.”
I nodded vigorously, spots clouding the blackness of my eyelids as the feeling of nirvana began to bleed into my brain. The feelings I had experienced from the karaoke kiss were coming back. Only now, they were much stronger. The pleasure, the satisfaction, the yearning. It was all coming back tenfold.
Tom’s cock twitched before he spilled his hot cum into my cunt. He groaned as he continued to thrust into me, determined to help me find my release. Iceman’s calloused fingertips traveled between my legs, brushing against my clit.
I moaned pornographically as I came all over his throbbing cock, coating his dick in my juices.
Iceman gently rubbed my clit, giving a few meek thrusts to assist me in riding out my release.
He released his intense grip on my hair, pulling out of me. I immediately felt empty in the absence of his cock. I groaned and twisted my head back to see Tom's back. He was buttoning his pants and slipping his thick leather belt through the pant loops.
“Well.”
He said, turning around to face me, his hands slyly placed atop his hips.
“I’ve had the time of my life.”
I rolled my eyes.
“You’ve done enough talking.”
A genuine smile broke Iceman’s handsome face.
“Touché honey, touché.”

You tried to resist looking over at him, but no matter what, your eyes always seemed to be pulled back to the man across the bar.
His familiar bright smile was plastered on his face as two women were standing unbearably close to him and Slider. They held the straw of their drinks in their toothy grins as they eyed Tom.
You felt your chest clench as annoyance bubbled through you. Forcing yourself to look away again you swallowed, tapping your finger on the bar top.
It had been years now since you and Tom became friends, you even considered him one of your best friends. But, it wasn't long until you ended up falling for him. You knew you shouldn't, you didn't mean to, but it was something you had no control over.
You wish you could control it. That way you could make those feelings go away. Nothing was more painful than unrequited love.
Your eyes once again rose up to lock on him. You felt the familiar uncomfortable clench of your chest as you saw him look at the woman in front of him.
"Hey."
A voice broke you from your thoughts. Looking over, you saw an attractive man standing in a Navy uniform, leaning on the bar he had a big toothy grin as he smiled at you.
"Hello." You greeted, sitting up a little straighter.
"Air Force huh?" He asked as he eyed your uniform.
"How'd you guess?" You asked with a sarcastic tone.
He chuckled as he sat down on the stool beside you. "Lucky guess." He replied.
You felt a flutter in your chest, and spared a look over at Tom. You wanted him to be looking at you, but his eyes were still on the women in front of him.
Pushing the thought aside, you looked back at the man beside you. You may not be able to completely forget how you feel about Tom, but you may be able to move on from it.
As the woman in front of Tom continued to ask him about his job as she obnoxiously chewed on her straw, Tom's eyes scanned the room looking for you. He much preferred talking to you.
When his eyes stopped on you at the bar, he felt his chest tighten as he saw you laugh, leaning forward as you gently pushed the man in front of you playfully.
He had never seen the man before, but he was clearly piquing your interest.
Tom felt his heart start beating a bit heavier in his chest as he watched you. The way you smiled brightly, a smile he often thought he was the only one to see. The way you were turned to face the man fully, told Tom you were truly interested.
Looking back at the man, Tom saw the way his eyes raked over you, and he felt his stomach turn.
Why was he reacting like this? He had never felt this before. Not towards you. Then again, in the years Tom had known you he had almost never seen you go out with someone, or even seen interested, until now.
He knew what the feelings were. Anger, annoyance, jealousy, fear. But why was he feeling it now? What did it mean?
As Slider nudged his arm, he looked back over, trying to force his thoughts to focus on what Slider was saying, but he couldn't seem to get the idea of you and another man off his mind.
--- --- ---
Tom watched you with curiosity and confusion as you ran off to the showers after training the next day. Most of the time you would wait for him, and you two would walk together and talk, but today you never even set eyes on him.
A feeling in his gut told him something was wrong, that maybe he did something, but he couldn't place what that might have been. His impatience only rose as he waited to see you, hoping you could go to the bar together. You could talk about it then.
When he did finally see you, he noted you were dressed up a bit more than usual, and the feeling in his gut only worsened.
"Y/n!" He called out as he saw you walking towards the parking lot.
As you turned at the sound of his voice and smiled, he felt a small amount of relief wash over him.
"You wanna drive to the bar together?" He asked casually, nothing unusual about the request.
Your face changed, and he felt his chest tighten.
"Sorry Ice, I'm not going tonight. I have a date."
Various feelings ran through him as he stared at you. 'Ice'? You haven't called him that in years. It's been Tom and Y/n for ages.
"Date?" He asked, his voice giving away his confusion.
You nodded, a somewhat shy smile on your face. There was something else there, in your eyes, but he focused too much on his on feelings to catch it.
"And I'm running a bit late, so I gotta go. I'll see you later." You smiled and turned to leave, leaving Tom standing alone basking in his own confusion and jealousy.
You had to go quickly, otherwise you'd give in an go with Tom. You couldn't waste another night of watching him flirt with everyone but you.
Tom stood there for a few minutes, watching as you drove off. His chest was tight and his breathing uneven as he tried to fully understand why he was feeling so upset about this.
Before now, he had never fully comprehended that you could start dating someone. That it wouldn't be him who was the closest man to you in your life. He just always assumed it would just be him. But why?
Suddenly it hit him. Because he wanted it to be that way.
He loved the idea of you and him. Sure he hooked up with some people here and there, but he had never been in a relationship. Because, well, because of you.
As he stood there and realization washed over him he felt uneasy on his feet.
It wasn't that he wanted to be your best friend, it's that he wanted to be with you. He just never fully comprehended it until now, until he realized he might be losing you to another guy.
"Hey Ice, you going to the bar?" Wolfman asked as he walked past.
Tom looked over at him and forced a smile "Yeah, yeah I'll be there in a while." He lied.
Tom looked down the road where you had driven off and felt his gut twist. He felt an overwhelming urge to chase after you. If only he knew were you were going. But he didn't. So he would wait.
----
As you pulled back into base, you had a soft smile on your face as you thought about the last couple of hours. Your date had gone surprisingly well, and you got along great.
You liked him. But you knew that wasn't enough. Every time he leaned in closer, flirted, or tried to make a move, an image of Tom would flash in your mind, and you would pull away. He wasn't Tom, he never would be.
Walking towards the barracks, you almost jumped as you saw a silhouette leaning against the wall. It only took a second before you were able to full recognize who it was.
You continued to walk closer "Tom?" You asked with a soft and curious voice.
His head snapped up at the sound of your voice and he quickly stepped away from the wall. "Y/n."
"Is something wrong?" You asked, seeing the almost overwhelmed look on his face.
"No, well- I was just waiting for you."
Your heart skipped a beat as you stopped in front of him, "Why?"
He seemed uncomfortable as he looked around "I wanted to make sure you got back alright."
You chuckled "Okay, thanks dad."
He smiled softly and shook his head "I also wanted to talk to you."
You felt a nervous flutter in your stomach "About what?"
He opened his mouth but hesitated before he cleared his throat "Do you like him? This guy you went out with?"
He knew it was the guy from the bar the other night, it had to be.
"Yeah, I do."
He nodded his head "How much?"
You let out a soft scoff "Why doesn't it matter Tom, what is this?"
He let out a frustrated breath as he rubbed the back of his neck "I just- I don't like it. You, you meet this guy at a bar and talk for what an hour, and your already going out with him?"
So he did see you the other night? Realization hit you, and an odd sense of satisfaction came with it. But why was he acting like this? What did it mean?
"Isn't that how it usually works?" You asked with a bewildered tone. "I mean, haven't you done the same with a dozen women you've met the same way, why am I suddenly wrong for doing it?" Your voice rose with your annoyance.
Your words made Tom realize he was being a hypocrite. He sighed and lifted his hands up "You're right, I'm sorry. I just." He swallowed harshly as he avoided your gaze.
"It's just what, Tom?" Your voice was softer now.
"I don't like the idea of you going out with other guys." He admitted quickly.
You felt the realization of is words hit you like a truck, while also cementing you in place. "You don't like the idea of it?"
"I don't want you to go out with other men." He corrected himself.
"Other men?"
"Men that aren't me, okay?!" He rose his voice a little "Look, I didn't realize it until I saw you with that guy last night, but then tonight you went out with him and it hit me like a ton of bricks that I-" He stopped and met your eyes, and you saw an almost panicked look behind them.
"That you what Tom?" You asked as you stepped closer.
He could see the look in your eyes, reflecting his own sense of desperation.
"That I love you."
You felt your breath catch in your throat, your heartbeat was so heavy you felt it in your head. You felt an overwhelming wave of emotion wash over you. Shock, relief, joy, but the loudest, was anger.
"You've gotta be kidding me." You let out a soft almost scornful laugh.
Tom frowned, as his chest clenched.
"All this time, all this time." You turned and paced for a moment before turning back to face him "For years, all I've ever wanted was for you to see me. All I've wanted was for you to want me. But you never did. And when I finally give it up, and try to move on, now you do?"
Tom realized what you meant and felt guilt wash over him. How long had you waited for him to realize? How long had you ached over him never returning your feelings?
"I'm sorry." He said softly "I'm sorry it took me so long to see it. I mean, even before I realized that I loved you like this, I knew I loved you in some way. And I knew that I wanted to be with you I just didn't realize how."
He took a step closer to you before slowly reaching up and brushing his hand down your arm until he took your hand in his.
"Y/n, it might be selfish, but I cant see myself ever living without you. And I dont want to."
Looking into his eyes, you saw nothing but honesty, and though you were angry with the time wasted, and the truly bad timing, you couldn't help but smile.
"I'll never forgive you for making me wait, you know?"
He smiled as he tugged you closer "I know. And I deserve it."
His eyes flicked down to your lips, and he felt an overwhelming urge to kiss you.
He met your eyes again "And I will make it up to you every day."
"Oh will you?" You asked with a smile.
He nodded and smiled in return "Yeah, I will."
Leaning in swiftly, his lips pressed against yours, catching you by surprise. You felt butterflies erupt in your stomach before sending an electric shiver through your body as you leaned into the kiss.
Even if he did make you wait, it was better late than never.

Pete likes to kiss Tom, he like is a lot. He doesn't know if it's because of the way they kiss or for all the warm feelings the actions causes him. It doesn't even have to be a full blow make out session, just a peck on his lips and his day is completely changed for the better. That's why three weeks in their thing Maverick presents Iceman with a contract, an actual one with all the y and the x in the right places, with Chipper's signature and stamp on the end of the two pages. Now Maverick begins over breakfast, with Slider and Goose present at the table too, if you're going to sign it you are going to have to kiss me for at least thirty minutes every day. And if you don't, at page two, there's a list of things I can ask you to do because of that. After a second of silence Ice watches at the paper and then at Slider because do you have a pen on you Ron? and Goose has already a foot out of the kitchen because oh god, and me and Carole are the problem. C'mon Slider, let's get out, I'm buy breakfast.
Tom is signing, his smiling is dopey and he has the time to write ky before Pete is sitting on his lap because the thirty minutes starts now and Ice can't say he's sorry about being late for whatever they have to be after.

top gun class of 86' shenanigans
Tumblr media
everyone knows maverick and goose are bestfriends and that they do the dumbest shit together all the time. whether in the air or on land, those two are never not fucking around, and the rest of the tg86 class love it. there's never a dull moment with goose and maverick in the mix
one day goose and mav snuck into all their classrooms early and whenever jester sat down there was a whoopie cushion, every. single. time. the first time it happened heatherly jumped a foot in the air and hollywood laughed so hard his hat fell off, which of course caused everyone  to laugh. so much so that jester, red in the face, made them all run laps until they stopped laughing. even viper cracked a grin at the outrage on jester's face, and winked at and mav and goose because he absouelty knew that they did it, and by the end of the day everyone else  did too.
another time, for sundown’s birthday, chipper left base early, because of course he did, and bought a pie. so when he and sundown sat with the rest of their class for breakfast in the mess hall, after everyone sang (butchered) a rendition of happy birthday, chipper told him to close his eyes, before smacking him in the face with the pie, a bright smile on his face as he yelled, "HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUNSHINE!" and then took off with sundown hot on his heels and pie all over his face. goose got a great polaroid of the whole thing and chipper  keeps it on the inside of this locker. sundown was still yelling about his hair having pie in it later in the day and did the same thing to chipper on his birthday. then it became a tradition for all their birthdays to pie each other. viper even got in on it and did it to ice, now that was a great polaroid.
another time, maverick and ice made a bet, and ice lost so his punishment? having to ride with maverick, on his motorcycle for a whole day. slider nearly pissed himself when he heard about it because everyone knows that mav rides but no one hates that thing more than goose and ice, especially since maverick refuses to wear a helmet no matter how many times they both try and get him to. mav swears they have meeting on when they team up to harass him about the helmet, but nevertheless ice lost and was now holding (clinging) to maverick for dear life as goose and slider were talking beside them. slider was leaning on goose with tears in his eyes as he watched ice yell at maverick about "not letting him die" before they had even started riding, hell the bike stand was still out, which mav pointed out to a very unamused iceman, sighing, maverick turned around and lifted ice's helmet up (he still wasn't wearing one) and kissed him softly, "ice, baby, i'm not gonna kill you okay? trust me." and ice begrudgingly did, so when mav lifted up the kickstand, turned around and reved the engine, ice relaxed just a little bit, then mav, being the lovely asshole boyfriend he is, turned around and sped down road with ice yelling in ear about how he was going to break up with him once he was off the damn bike and goose and slider, now watching with hollywood and wolfman heard ice yelling from down the street.
when ice ice baby came out slider, mav and goose made it their ringtone for ice, and he has never been more unamused.
goose and carol had ice and maverick watch bradley once and poor baby cried so hard when ice and mav left to go home because, "his uncles are so cool” and “he doesnt want them to go.” and from then on they've babysat him every time goose and carol need them to, and once when the four of them all went on a double date, hollywood and wolfman offered to watch him, and when they came home the three of them were cuddled up on the couch with hollywood's hat on bradley’s head, with him on hollywoods chest and wolfmans arms around both of them. goose took a picture and left them there before turning off the lights, carol decided that the pilots would get pancakes as a reward tomorrow morning and bradley got a few more cool uncles to brag about at school.
once jester were lecturing and hollywood was leaning back against wolfman's chest with his hat covering his face, hollywood wshipering into his ear, and jester barely glanced at them before clearing his throat, "gentlemen if you cant keep it in your pants until the end of my lecture then i’ll sperate the two of you." and then he was back to lecturing. ice snorted so hard he had to cover his mouth and chipper put his head down, but his shudders shaking gave him away. safe to say hollywood and wolfman kept it in their pants and moved a safe distance apart from each other for the of class. they didn't live it down for weeks.

When Tom got the initial call from the San Diego Hospital, he panicked. Had something happened to Rachael? Was she hurt? How hurt? His voice wavered as he pressed the green button, “Hell…Hello?” “Hello, is this Thomas Kazansky?”
“This is he. May I ask what this is about?” “I am very sorry to have to tell you this, Mr. Kazansky, but your wife has been in an accident. If you could please come to the hospital as soon as possible that’d be great.” “Of…of course. I’ll be there soon!”
Tom had at least broken ten traffic violations as he drove as fast as he could to the hospital. Once there, he tapped on the front desk, impatient and nervous about what is exactly Rachael’s condition. The nurse smiled, knowing he was scared, “Hello Sir, how can I help you today?”
“Um… ah… my wife, she was in a car accident earlier tonight and I’m here to see h…her.” “And the patient’s name?” “Rachael Kazansky.” He blurted, worry in his voice. “Ah, yes. She’s in room 81422. If she’s not in there, she’s either getting an X-ray or scan done, but your more than welcome to wait in the room while she’s gone.” “Thank you,” Tom uttered under his breath as he ran passed the desk and to the elevators.
In…out…in…out. Tom had so many visions of how badly she’d been hurt, but shook his head, he couldn’t think about that anymore. He clumsily reached for his phone in his pocket, found his number and pressed the call button. It only ran twice before he heard the other man’s voice on the other line, “Hey Ice! What’s up man? You never call this late?”
Tom tried to keep the tremble out of his voice, “It’s…it’s Rachael, Ron. She was in a car accident and she’s in the hospital. Your like family to us, so…” “WHAT? We’re on our way now, you know we’ll always be here for you Tom,” before the line dropped, he could hear Ron tell Jade the news.
He spun the phone in his hand and tightened his grip, taking his frustration out on it. How could he not be there for her? He knew it was impossible for this to be his fault, but put the blame on himself anyway.
Tom sat in the waiting room, head in hands as Ron & Jade rushed through the doors, startling the other occupants. “Where is she? Have you seen her yet? Did they have to take her to surgery?” Tom opened his arms, knowing that Jade would want to hug him. “I know her room number, I just can’t make myself walk in and see her all bruised and beaten.”
Jade smacked the back of Tom’s bleached blond head, “Grow a pair! She’s in there scared to death, waiting for her husband to calm her down and comfort her! Tom, I say this with love. You know I do, but seriously, go be with your wife!” Tom nodded, a little ashamed about his behavior. This isn’t about him, it’s about Rachael, his amazingly strong and confident wife.
He knocked softly on the open door, trying not to startle Rachael as she slept. “Hey Baby, how are you feeling?” Rachael gave a half-asses loopy smile, “I feel like I was hit by a bus.” “Plea…please don’t joke about that. You had me so afraid and nervous when I got the call about you being in a car crash.”
“Tom, babe, I’m fine. The only thing that’s badly hurt is my car. I just got some scraps and bruises, a broken leg, and maybe a concussion. That’s still waiting to be analyzed sense they carted me straight to the X-ray for the leg.” “I’m just glad your ok. I called Ron & Jade too, they’re in the waiting room. Want me to send them in?”
Rachael made grabby hands at her husband, wanting a hug and to be close as possible. “When the truck hit me, I swear I saw my life flash across my eyes. It happened so fast, I was so scared that I’d never see you again.” She whimpered.
“Shh, you’re ok. I’ll always be there for you Rach. I have no choice, remember our vows?” Rachael sniffled a little before a small laugh escaped her, “For better or for worst, through sickness or through health. I’ll always be by your side.”
“Exactly. Do you wanna see Ron & Jade yet?” “Yeah, Jade’s probably throwing a tantrum about not seeing me right now.” “She’s an adult, she wouldn’t.” “If she’s not able to see her chaotic best friend that’s hurt and in the hospital, she would and we both know it.” “Yeah, ok. I’ll go get them. I’ll be right back gorgeous.” He missed her forehead tenderly, before leaving the room.
As Tom entered the waiting room, he saw Ron & Jade holding hands and talking in quiet voices. “Hey, she’s ok. A little busted up, but she’s alive. Rach wants to see you both.” Jade pushed both men out of the way and b-lined it to Rachael’s room.
“Oh my god Rach! You’re ok! I was so worried for you! Tom, that shithead, didn’t tell us anything but that you were in a car accident!” Jade started to cry at the thought of her best friend, the other half of the chaos crew, was hurt. “Oh Jade, don’t cry! I’m ok, really!” “I know, I know! It’s just hard to hear!”
The two women hugged, attached to each other like glue as the men waited right outside the door. “You know that Jade and I are here for you guys right?” “Yea, of course. Rachael and I would be there for you guys too. We’re a family, Ron, thats what they do.”
“Have you called the others? The rest of the squadron would want to know, they care about you guys too.” Tom nodded, “I will tomorrow morning. It’s too late, they need to sleep, I also don’t want to overwhelm Rach with more visitors.”
“Understandable. They can be a lot.” A noise from one of the machines Rachael was connected to grabbed the attention of the nurses nearby, making them rush over.
Jade’s voice sounded above the yelling and beeping, “Help! Please help! I…I don’t know what’s happening!” “Ma’am, please, step aside so we can help her!” That grabbed the men’s attention at the scream of Jade and booked it to the room.
Nurses and doctors crowded the small space and pushed Tom, and their friends out, before the nurses helped the doctors. “Eyes not responding, push 10 milligrams of Diazepam I.M. And get her tested, order a MRI too!” “Anything specific?” “No, all of the test, now!” “Yes sir!” “Right away!”
They wheeled her away to another floor, her friends huddled together and tears running down their faces. Jade grabbed Tom’s hand and squeezed before being pulled back into Ron’s arms. “She’ll be alright, she has to be. She was smiling and talking be…before she started seizing,” muttered Jade.
It’s hours later before the scans and test come back, the doctor on her case comes over to them, “It seems as if she’s got an acute brain bleed. She’ll need surgery, and a few weeks of rest afterwards. I’ll see you after.” The doctor bid goodbye and walked off to what they assumed the operating floor to scrub in.
It’s even more time spent in the waiting room, eating cheap vending machine snacks, horribly burnt coffee from the cafeteria, and tears burning their eyes.
Tom and the couple had to call into base and let them know what had happened to Rachael and they had a family emergency and needed a few days off, which the Commanding Officer easily granted.
As the night slowly turned into daytime, Ron made calls to the squadron members to let them know about Rachael’s condition and comforted his wife and best friend. It was hard on all of them, they all formed a tight bond over the weeks of Top Gun.
Once Rachael was put in an Post-Operation room on another floor, and the anesthesia wore off, the others were able to see her. Tom sat on a nearby chair, which he drug up to the side of her bed so he could hold her hand.
Ron stayed back, and rested on the farthest wall, Jade sat on the other side of her best friend’s bed in another very uncomfortable seat she found in the hall that she carried in.
Tom felt a squeeze to his hand, he lifted up his head and saw Rachael’s dazed eyes looking around, “What the hell? Why do you have sad faces, I told you I was fine.” “Rach! Oh my god, baby! I was so worried!” Tom shouted as he kissed her hand and then her forehead softly.
Jade gingerly hugged Rachael as tight as she dared, careful not to hurt her best friend more. Tears streamed down her face as she tried to wipe them away before Rachael could see. No such luck, “Jade, I said I was fine. See! No worst for wear!”
“You just had surgery! You can’t say that!” “I would have never guessed that I was just out of surgery. I couldn’t tell by my headache, or new room.” “Please don’t use sarcasm in a time like this.” “Sarcasm is how I cope. I’m in pain and it brings me serotonin.”
Soft laughter could be heard from around the group, it would be Dragon who can make them laugh in a time like this. “So, I’m guessing that the others know too and plan on visiting soon?”
Tom missed her hand again before starting, “Yeah, round six or seven. Goose said that Bradley wants to see his favorite pilot.” “Aw, and I wanna see my lil man too! I miss him, I have seen him in so long!”
“Two days isn’t that long.” “To you maybe, but for me? It’s an eternity,” Rachael pouted. The men rolled their eyes lovingly as Jade laughed.
Six-thirty on the dot, there was a small knock on the door before a blonde woman holding a small human came in, “Auntie Dragon!” Yelled the boy as Carole looked sheepish, “Sorry, he heard this morning that Rachael was hurt and couldn’t stop begging to see you. Goose wanted to wait until later for us to visit so you could recuperate.”
“Oh it’s fine! I’m always happy to see my favorite future pilot!” Bradley was let down from his mother’s arms before running as fast as his four-year-old legs would let him to his Uncle Ice, who picked him up and sat him down on Dragon’s bed as she scooted over to make room.
“I’m glad to hear that your ok, you had us all worried when Tom called earlier and said you needed brain surgery.” “I’d say, nothing got done in the air today, all worried sick about your health. Mav was so outta his head, he almost took a nose dive more than once!” Announced Goose as he entered the room, backed by most of the squad.
“Oh, so he’s more dangerous than usual when people he cares about is hurt?” “I am dangerous, Ice.” Smirked Mav as the others laughed at the memory. “Yeah, yeah.” “How’s the best of the best doin?” “Pretty good, I got my lil buddy to help keep my mind off of the pain.” “When do you come back?”
“Um, I’m not sure. I didn’t even know I had brain surgery until afterwards.” “Nice shaved head, by the way.” Smiled Hollywood, with his arm wrapped around Duckie, his girlfriend. “Thanks, I think it looks badass.” “It definitely does,” stated Cricket, Leonard’s girlfriend and Duckie’s sister.
“Hi girlies! I haven’t seen you in a hot minute! Hugs are in order!” Said Rachael as she leaned up and waited with open arms as the two midwestern sisters made their way to the bed.
The girls smiled and gently hugged her back. “Before you take our girls away, can we get hugs too?” Dragon pretended to think before smirking and opening her arms again. Each of the men took turns getting a tight and loving hug from Rachael.
The others stayed and socialized until it was lights out for the floor and said their goodbyes before leaving. Unfortunately, this included Ron and Jade too. It started out as one of the worst days of Tom’s life, but it ended better than he expected.
“When we get home, could you stop by Wendy’s? I am craving fast food after being forced to eat this disgusting hospital food.” Tom laughed, loud and hard, before kissing the crown of her head, “For you, I’d do anything love.”
