To my beautiful motherland, to my India and her people, HAPPY INDEPENDENCE DAY.
Most of us here, I know, are disillusioned by this country, the petty politics and fights, by poverty and illiteracy, by the unemployment and overpopulation. Many of us are weary of her sorrows, and of people who cannot uphold the values we stand for.
Today is the day we remind ourselves that this is our home. India is our mother. She is not a goddess. She is not a Queen. She is the oppressed peasant woman standing in the fields with her child in her arms. She is the soldier in the lonely borders, and she is their family clinging onto hope. She is the tribal, fighting against injustice.
She lives in the cold of the Himalayas and the long coast by the sea. She is the summer sun and monsoon wind, autumn leaves and winter rain, the shopkeeper by the street, the officers in their cars.
She is, in the end, what we will come back to, time and again, the wet scent of earth, the rousing tune of the National Anthem, the proud Tricolour fluttering in the breeze, the three lions of the Ashok Stambh, the chants of "Jay Hind."
She is what we will love, no matter what, because she is our mother. Her lands are wet with the blood of our noble ancestors, of our freedom fighters, and when we stand barefoot, we will hear the distant echo of Netaji and Bapu rallying our people towards glory.
Today, this we shall remember.

everybody’s always on writing prompts like “what if there was a world where everyone had a timer ticking down to their death… but you met someone whose timer said infinity!” or “what if everyone had their cause of death tattooed across their forehead… but you met someone whose forehead said THE CREATURE!” Enough -
enough. stop with the shock value. there is no need to insert THE CREATURE; the benign concept of such a world is horrifying enough. not even in urgency, but just in banal, everyday interaction. imagine you meet someone and their timer says two years. not tomorrow, not urgently soon, but two years. enough to do quite a lot. they could fall in love in that time - could they get engaged? have a baby? you might otherwise get to know them, befriend them, but perhaps you opt not to, make a conscious choice not to invest in your own grief. what balancing act would every individual person have to participate in - I have ten years, is that long enough to be a good mother to children? is that long enough to secure a caretaker for my own mother? my wife will die a few months before me. my newborn’s timer reads nineteen years.
and cause of death. you interview for a job and emblazoned across the healthy, smiling face of the HR lady is MALNUTRITION. your country is prospering, safe, but every person you meet on the street from the babies to the old women read BOMB. BOMB. what kind of havoc would fate wreak on the world? what about the loss of privacy? how would that shape our notions of hope? idk man I think a lot of those ancient poems were right, and the fates are monsters. I’m interested by the framing of these ideas as trite horror tales when the premises themselves are so much more disturbing if simply taken to their logical ends

thinking about harvey stardew valley and being a rural country doctor with a caseload like:
guy who won’t accept any diagnosis except “you have consumption and need to go to the seaside for your health”
woman who asks what gemstone he would prescribe for her UTI
guy who spends half the day trying to give himself a concussion and the other half trying to blow out his hearing on his guitar
two people who have struggled with alcoholism for years but reject all of his resources for it UNTIL someone gifts them alcohol biweekly for a year straight and suddenly their lives turn around
guy who will not stop mailing people bombs but in a friendly way and like this just isn’t on the PTSD screener??
guy who won’t stop asking him vague but increasingly bizarre questions about the safety of truffle oil
woman who EATS ROCKS
and also there’s a fucking wizard. what’s up with that. how often do you think the man goes “why did i get an MD why didn’t i just train to be a wizard i didn’t even know that was an option” while performing emergency surgery on this one farmer who won’t stop picking fights with ACTUAL MONSTERS

sometimes. i just have to remind myself that percy took annabeth to paris. like, canonically. he forgot their one-month anniversary. and took his girl to paris to make up for it. the standards are in elysium.

So I’ve been joking for a while about how Inko manages to afford all of Izuku’s AM merch
But I decided to nerd out and look closer, and I’m pretty sure the only expensive piece Izuku owns is the poster he got from Sir
You might think his dorm looks absolutely stacked
Tumblr media
but that’s only because it’s a very small room and he brought every piece he owns
If you look in his old room it’s all the same posters
Tumblr media
so he’s owned it all for at least a few years, he’s been working up to this for god knows how many years, just to be the proud owner of 5 posters so basic even he would put tape on them
Tumblr media
All of his figures are less than 50$
One of which he’s had since he was a child
Tumblr media
And it doesn’t look like the other unidentified figures are anything special either(except maybe AM in his yellow suit)
Tumblr media
Izuku only has generic fanboy shit, like maybe one of the posters is a custom but I honestly I don’t think he owns a single special anything
The dead guy poster is 100% the coolest thing he has, no wonder he’s so reverent about it 💀
As for fits this is all we’ve really seen is
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So yeah Inko isn’t dropping stacks on merch, I’m pretty sure those sweaters were a 2 for 1 deal because they’re almost identical 💀

When Palestinian’s say “From the river to the sea, Palestine will be free,” they are not calling for the ethnic cleansing of Israeli Jews/all Jewish people entirely. They are just asking for decolonisation.
Between the river (the Jordan River) and the sea (the Mediterranean Sea) lies Palestine, which has been occupied by Israel for the past 75 years. When they say Palestine will be free, they mean exactly that- for decolonisation; to end the illegal occupation of land that was theirs first.
I don’t know where the idea that this motto means genocide or is a “rallying cry for terrorists” came from, but all sources I have seen that spread this message are all pro-Israel and have unreliable propaganda filled articles. There is one article specifically that says that the Palestine flag emoji is used as shorthand for this phrase, and using it is antisemitic.
I hope people keep using this motto, keep chanting it at protests, and know that it does not making them antisemitic, pro-genocide, or an ignorant person. For it to not be obvious at this point that no Palestinian wants an ethnic cleansing of any kind, is shocking.
decolonizepalestine has an amazing article with more details about the history of the phrase and the myths surrounding it.
