1. Larissa Weems - Wednesday (2022)

Look, I'm obviously gonna pick Larissa first because I have made some genuine friends through the Larissa/Gwendoline fandom and that means she is my #1 baby girl/Menace Principal.

2. Moiraine Damodred - The Wheel of Time (2021)

It was hard to decide between Moiraine and Siuan, honestly, but Moiraine won out just because we get so much more screen time with her. She was the reason I came back to tumblr in the first place and I have such a lovely and supportive discord community thanks to her/the show. Her dedication to the mission about all else just gets me so 🫠

3. Aloy - Horizon Zero Dawn (2017)/Horizon Forbidden West (2022)

Aloy best girl 😍😍😍 I think the Horizon series might be my favourite games of all time. They are so much fun to play, the story is so interesting and Aloy is a great protagonist. She is strong, independent and doesn't bother trying to fit in. She does her own thing and I really respect that.

4. Xena - Xena Warrior Princess (1995)

Xena was so special to me as a little baby gay. The thirst I experienced was unbelievable but because her relationship with Gabrielle was (barely) subtext, it was safe for me to watch in a conservative rural environment.

5. Utena Tenjou - Revolutionary Girl Utena (1997)

This prince saves herself! Utena is iconic and this anime is one of the first shows that ever got me thinking about gender roles and patriarchy. Utena doesn't always get it right but she does try her best to help her friends.

6. Astarion - Baldur's Gate 3 (2023)

Look, I just love him. I would let him devour me with no regrets. I'm still in Act 1 of the game and he has absolutely seduced me with his charm.

7. Nadja of Antipaxos - What We Do In The Shadows (2019)

I cannot get enough of Nadja. The perfect all-powerful absolute idiot. Her own worst enemy. My beloved girlfail queen 👑.

8. The Captain - Ghosts (2019)

I love the Captain so very much. He's from an era when he literally would have been imprisoned for being open about his sexuality so he's so repressed and uptight but we see these little glimpses that are just wonderful and he's played with such care.

9. Kassandra - Assassin's Creed Odyssey (2018)

I still can't believe there are people out there who choose to play as Alexios when Kassandra is right there! She's amazing, such a badass and I never want to play another AC game because no other protagonist will ever be as good as her (also Ubisoft is evil).

10. Tissaia de Vries - The Witcher (2019)

Look, I just obviously have a thing for teachers who are a bit mean. Sorry not sorry to be a stereotype!

So many new things in the newest trailer to go through, so many good and crazy shots. V2 is gonna be amazing.

But anyways, I wanted to go through some of them and write them down for myself, so SPOILERS BELOW FOR S3/V2 since there’s a bunch of new shots from the trailer included.

These two shots are linked - originally I thought the eyes below were Yennefer's but this is Francesca 100%. In the shot above, we see Fringilla's head (her hair from the tavern) + Francesca's iconic braided hair - both of them are looking up at the fire circle that's crashing right down below on top of them - and then they both fall back if you watch the trailer. So the shot below is certainly Francesca watching as the fire collapses down on them. And those are her blue eyes, not purple like Yennefer's.

The shot above is continuation of that - Francesca seems knocked out or something and lands on Fringilla who protects them against the fire with magic in the very last second - this seems to be why the entire hall is completely destroyed in the following shots.

Here, we can clearly see Artorius Vigo (Fringilla's uncle) very much dead with Tissaia trying to desperately heal him - Margarita pulls her away in the very last second as fire explodes all around them (the firecircle that crashes on Francesca and Fringilla???) and puts up a shield to protect herself and Tissaia. So Artorius is a goner for sure. Tissaia and Rita save themselves in the last sec.

This one is interesting - for anyone who knows the books, all of the mages depicted here are part of the neutral faction of mages who were neither on Philippa's side or on Vilgefortz's, with some new tossed in as well.

There's Artorius Vigo, Bianca d'Este, Gerhart of Aelle (the oldest living sorcerer), Margarita Laux-Antille and Tissaia, plus more male mages - just extras but these should be Carduin, Marquard and Dorregaray. They seem to be defending against the arrows of the Scoia'tael who're standing across from them - since Artorius is alive here and the room looks fine here, this is before the fire circle crashes down. Also, since the elves are there, it would stand to reason Francesca is present as well - Fringilla and Cahir should be too. This could very well be the coup but it begs the question - where are Philippa, Sabrina, Keira and Triss, the northern sorceresses?

Sabrina being a badass Kaedweni HBIC in a new dress. The woman behind her in the first shot is Keira Metz, so they're definitely there after the ballroom has been destroyed. Knowing how she hates the elves, this rock is probs heading for one of them. There's more shots that seem to be in this same sequence from other promo material - Cahir swordfighting someone in this room, Francesca blocking a lightning bolt from Tissaia (she fires it from above), Istredd killing an elf, Stregobor staring in anger at the destruction.

I have no idea what's happening here but it looks terrifying - the ocean is completely dried up and Aretuza is burning down. The lightning probably means the portal in Tol Lara is going haywire and we know how that ends.

Perhaps the most devastating shot of this trailer for me. Margarita, Keira, Tissaia, Yennefer and Marti Sodergren staring at what is no doubt Aretuza falling down in flames once the coup has ended. Notice how Tissaia is completely grey - no doubt caused by the huge tragedy that has just destroyed everything she's ever worked for.

Piggy-backing off my last post about how I'm tweaking S3 for Yennefer, I decided to go into a little more depth like I did with some of my other posts about my other Season tweaks for my Netflix version of Yennefer, which contrary to popular belief is NOT my main Yennefer verse even though I use Anya as Yen's face claim. I am mixed media Yen always, and you may always ask me to use icons of her from the games because I have those too. That being said, lets breakdown Season Three:

Because she never actually tried to sacrifice Ciri to the Deathless Mother, her strained relationship with Geralt is mostly over how she's going about teaching Ciri because she pushes a bit too hard, and also over trying to mend the fact that even though she didn't try to sacrifice Ciri, she did separate Ciri from Geralt while she was still being coerced by the Deathless Mother no matter how she was trying to resist her, so there still is broken trust, it's just not something that they can't get over.

While she has been trying to get this whole mom thing right, Yennefer and Ciri butting heads at Aretuza was perfection. They did a great job given that Ciri is older in Netflix than she was in the books, and it was just wonderful. Yen will sacrifice literally anything for Ciri, and that includes her dignity, and so I'm keeping that most definitely.

YEN SAID 'I LOVE YOU' BACK AT THANEDD. They took this from me, and it's one of the main things I was looking forward to this season because 'Time of Contempt' is their first verbally exchanged 'I love you', and I'm so mad the show didn't let Yen say it back. Yes, she made it clear she loves him at the end of the Season, but I'm salty about it.

She didn't leave Ciri to go and try and save Aretuza and Tissaia. I get why Netflix had her do it, but my Yen doesn't have the same relationship with Tissaia because hers is closer to their book relationship. Because of that, she stayed with Ciri and Geralt, and they were all forcibly separated from each other. This would make Yennefer be the one to find Geralt in the water (and mirror a very specific book scene), and still have to spread herself thin trying to find Ciri as well.

Yennefer still feels a bit of guilt in feeling like if Geralt sees her and she doesn't have Ciri, then she failed him, but not enough to keep her away. The only thing that makes sense is she's trying to find Ciri, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't be checking in on him as he heals if she can because the girl can portal: she can do both things and she should have.

Oh, and one of the most important things: Yennefer did not help to form the Lodge of Sorceresses. In the books, she didn't want a part of it, and was only brought on by Francesca, only to then have to tell them all to shove it up their asses because they wanted to hand Ciri over to Emhyr. Phillipa was one of the founders and I'm still confused as to why they had Yen do it instead, but it all boils down to them making Tissaia more important to Yen than she is. I'm sorry, but my Yen will not be picking Tissaia over Geralt and Ciri--it makes no character sense to me to do so.

Finished the Tower of Swallows reread and all I can say is…THIS FUCKING ENDING…LEGENDARY! ICONIC!

(Spoilers for ending of book)

It’s…

Terror.

Begging.

It’s the prey becoming the terrifying predator.

It’s “Reince, you were going to teach me pain, remember? With those hands? With those fingers? Those ones? Those? The ones you’re holding the ice with?”

It’s chattering teeth.

It’s backing up and getting a running start.

It’s fingers on ice.

It’s vengeance. It’s slaughter.
