I'm really worn out. Yesterday we spent allll day going over to appointments for kiddo at Seattle Children's - surgeon in Bellvue, imaging in Federal Way. Signed all the forms to prep for surgery. Only to get called later: the dr says the issue she needed surgery for has very mysteriously, extremely surprisingly - resolved itself, after she got our new imaging. Wut? Good news. I hope. I feel unsure what to think. But what a rollercoaster of a day. Then, I randomly broke out in... hives, I guess? Last night. No reason. Lasted until this morning. All over my ribs kinda? Really ouch. Today, sooooo tired. And i have a broken toe, from tripping when I was walking, because thats what I do. It's purple and crooked af. But it was my niece's sweet 16, 🖤 So we went to her party. I'll post pics later, everything was decorated so fun + she's beautiful. Home again. Hives again. Whyyyyyy? No new food, no new med, no new cleaning products, no nothing. But, it reinforces that it's definitely, genetically, all my fault that my kiddo has weird mystery health issues already, right? Sigh. So... I'm going to eat the brownies my sweet kiddo baked for us, take the longest, hottest, bubbly-est bath, and go to bed. Which will be easy because I was so lazy today I didn't even make the messy bed you see behind me, lol. To the mom with no mom friends, I know it’s lonely. I know it’s hard. You wish you had someone to call. Someone to have play dates with. Someone to just understand.

You see the women all over social media posting photos of their kids playing, and growing up together.

Moms getting coffee, going to the park, and hanging out while their kids play.

You sit on the other side while you glance now and then and wonder what it would be like, to have that.

You feel guilty, and wonder if you should make more of an effort to find people. You wonder if you’re taking away an experience from your child because you don’t have that.

You are not alone mama. How do I know this?

Because I am a mom with no mom friends. I understand you, I am you. There are so many of us out here that get it. We have our own group, we just haven’t found one another yet.

Babies can’t fall asleep on their own!!!! This is a biggest myth of all when it comes to newborns or babies. When someone tells you that babies cannot fall asleep on their own and it’s not biologically normal for them to do so must not realise or know how babies fall asleep inside the womb. Yes babies can fall asleep on their but they need to have a positive safe and secure environment to do so plus the opportunity. Many Babies don’t get the down time that promotes a secure and safe sleep environment. A baby who is fed, comfy, been burped and has had a nappy change. Can happily lie awake, play and fall asleep when they are relaxed and ready. Picture shows my little one doing this quite frequently as a newborn. Sleep is a learned skill. The environment inside the womb isn’t quite the same as on the other side. Doesn’t mean that babies can’t feel safe and confident to fall asleep independently. It’s about consistency. Giving a baby a good positive routine that fits in with you can make a world of difference. Humans thrive on routine. Babies are human’s!!! So why do we treat them so differently🤷‍♀️. Doesn’t mean you can’t feed your baby to sleep or cuddle then to sleep. It’s about how often you do this that will create a pattern that either gives your baby skills to fall asleep independently or they rely on you every time it’s sleep time.
