Bow's Character Arc

There was a discussion on Twitter from people who were confused about Bow’s character arc and whether he had one (he very much does, and it’s actually one of the clearest / most spelled out in the entire show!). To help anyone experiencing that confusion and because it’s never a bad idea to understand how character arcs work if you want to be a writer/storyteller, I might as well break Bow’s character arc down for anyone who might find it helpful.

Buckle in, it's nerd time!

At the most basic, a character arc is a change (usually growth) a character goes through over the course of a story. Usually good (positive change arc) but sometimes bad (negative change arc). It’s very often a reversal aka the character is often in the exact opposite state by the end of the story than how they start it out. It can be trickier to follow in an ensemble story like SPOP because there are a lot of characters with parallel story lines going on and multiple arcs colliding in different ways, but She-Ra does a really good job of giving each of the four leads arcs (with Catradora as the main leads, Glimbow as the secondary) near equal time.

Yes, including Bow.

What I think throws people about Bow’s arc is it’s based on hypocrisy.

Meaning…

He encourages his friends to talk it out and share their feelings… while hiding his own feelings from his dads and repressing his frustrations with having to be the middle man between Adora and Glimmer (Season 4)

He declares that average people (such as the kitchen staff at Dryl) don’t need the princesses and are just as capable of fighting the Horde themselves… while he believes himself and his abilities inferior to Princess Entrapta’s

He reminds the others (esp Adora) about the need to accept help… while refusing any help for himself (think about “Don't worry about me. I'm the one who worries about you. Can we go back to that? Please?” in Pulse through to that moment when he agrees to let Glimmer take him to check on his dads in Return to the Fright Zone and literally leans on her)

I think a funny way to sum up his character issue is: Not me, though.

This arc progresses across all five season as he gradually changes. He starts the series out repressing his feelings from both his family and friends while doubting his abilities and refusing to ask for help (he IS Adora’s mirror, after all!). Over the course of the series he learns to express his feelings instead of bottling them up (The Beacon > Reunion > really all of Season 4 but it comes to head starting with Boys Night Out through Beast Island > Stranded), gains more confidence in his tech skills (The Frozen Forest > Signals > Flutterina > Mer-Mysteries > Corridors), and starts to learn to ask for help (The Beacon > Pulse > Return to the Fright Zone).

Which of course all culminates in The Heart Parts 1 and 2 where he finally wraps up all threads at once by

a) asking Scorpia to trust him (putting faith in someone else to help)

b) completing Entrapta’s program to unchip everyone (proving he IS as good a scientist as she is)

c) giving the speech to everyone on Etheria rousing the common people to fight Prime (average people can make a difference… which he now fully believes that includes him).

And while you can make the argument that confessing to Glimmer is part of his arc to share his feelings, the fact is that he completes a full character arc without ever behind reduced to just someone’s love interest because none of his character growth is tied to his romantic relationship at all (which was what the original tweet claimed). It's all his inner journey to have faith in himself and his abilities and how they relate to his friends and loved ones.

And thus the guy who starts the series as “only one around here who’s not a princess” with doubt in his tech abilities ends the series as confident Tech Master and future King of the regular people he sought to inspire, which is about as textbook a reversal as you can get.

Does it come out of nowhere?

His character arc progresses and takes significant focus in the following episodes….

S4:E7 Mer-Mysteries

That’s 17 episodes out of 52 which means his character development gets approximately 32% of the focus of the entire show… which for an ensemble cast like this where he’s one of four leads is just about dead on as it's over a quarter of the episodes.

That's a significant chunk of screentime with multiple episodes devoted specifically to his character journey.

Is his journey as flashy and action sequence-y as what Adora, Catra and Glimmer get? No, but it's a) a show marketed to girls so it makes sense they get the more cinematic scenes and b) his arc is more emotional and thus didn't need to hinge on big action like theirs did. Though considering the culmination of his arc is him as a 100 foot tall hologram speaking to the entire planet, I personally feel like that was pretty hard to miss.

If you look at all of this and still want to say that Bow did nothing or had no character arc, I think the thing to ask yourself is: why is it so important to you to discount the accomplishments and character growth of this character specifically?

In conclusion, this is the face Bow makes when he spent five season growing, changing and kicking butt as Tech Master and Voice of Reason and you say he did "literally nothing"...

She-ra (2018) Official Merch

I've made a loooong post about She-ra merch and its weirdness, but I wanted to summarize it in the most comprehensive list of official merch for the 2018 Netflix reboot that I could assemble. I'm sure I've missed some stuff, though, so I'll update this if I find anything. Thanks to everyone who contributed, especially Clare and Tippen.

I did deep dives (with pictures and details) on con exclusive and promotion exclusive merch. Basic info on those is included below the read more of this post.

Everything with [L] at the end of its bulletpoint - or an * inside one - has a photo in the long post. I provided links to official photos/listings when possible, but most of them are defunct.

Pins/Accessories/Clothing (active):

A bunch of jewelry (necklaces, rings, earrings) and enamel pins from Han Cholo (+ one iron-on patch). I've seen resellers claim the chibi pins were exclusive to a convention, but they're up on the website. The long post* has pictures of these if they ever go down, and the actual convention-exclusive ones can be found in the con post.

Amazon print-on-demand clothing (+ tote bags and pop sockets) with a lot of different designs that are hidden on the site but still purchasable, see this post for details, and here's the direct link. Once you find a design you like, you can search its name in the regular search bar (for instance, there's a shirt design called "Power Stripes Catra," for that one you have to search just "Stripes Catra") to see all the kinds of items it comes on, usually a variety of tops/outerwear, maybe a tote, and sometimes pop sockets.

Bioworld also had licensed merch, but some designs are hidden on their store page, so the link shows everything available but includes both the reboot and the 80s original. As of writing, they have one lunchbox, two adult t-shirts, one adult crop top, and two youth shirts for the reboot.

Media (active):

A DVD of just the first three seasons (there's a box sleeve version that includes stickers and it's never clear in listings if this is the only version and they just don't show the sleeve or if they're two separate things). This is still for sale at multiple retailers, but there's no way we're ever getting a full boxset.

There were a couple of books: the Rebel Princess Guide, the Legend of the Fire Princess graphic novel, and then some small "novels." These are still available at multiple retailers, but the novels weren't made by the crew and at least some of these contradict basic facts from season one, so they're less canon than many fanfics despite being licensed.

Everything from this point on is out of production and only available via resale.

Toys/Figures (defunct):

Eight fashion dolls. The line had Adora, Glimmer, Bow, Catra, and She-ra (season one version), Battle Armor She-ra (2-pack with a model of Swift Wind featuring their Battle of Bright Moon looks), and a deluxe She-ra & Shadow Weaver 2-pack (SDCC 2019 exclusive). These dolls were supposed to be Target exclusive, but the rollout was botched and now they're collectors' items. There were also four cancelled dolls that were supposed to be part of the line.

Two Super7 action figures in a Catra & Adora 2-pack with limited articulation. They're rare collector's items too, though this time it's just because they were a limited run. [L]

A plastic toy Sword of Protection and shield sized for children. The sword lit up and said "For the honor of Grayskull!" when you lifted it. The gem was semi-transparent and had a picture of She-ra under it. This was a Target and Amazon exclusive (Mattel & Target are always holding hands 🤝). [L]

Clothes/Dress-up/Accessories (defunct):

Four licensed She-ra costumes (season one version) of varying quality: a Target-exclusive one in limited sizes, one from Disguise in a wider range of sizes, one from Party City (as well as a wig and Sword of Protection prop licensed under Classic Media) for children, and one from Rubie's Costume Company (with a season one Catra costume to match, as well as separate accessory packs and wigs for both characters) that was also available at Party City. [L]

Her Universe used their Netflix license to make three shirts, two jackets, an earring set, and a wallet. Photos in the long post* if these links go down (they are discontinued, after all). Bioworld (remember them?) are actually the producers of the earrings with their name rather than Her Universe's branding being found on the backing card.

Hot Topic made a few shirts (like, three. I don't have the primary link for the third design). [L]

Misc (defunct):

Zaks Design-A-Tumbler, a plastic see-through drink tumbler with a sticker sheet provided so you can place the character graphics inside as desired. Features the key character art seen on most other merch for the Best Friend Squad as well as the sword, the moonstone, Swift Wind for the horse girls, and some random sparkles and hearts to fill space. It was available via Amazon and Walmart.

Comcanroll made a Sword of Protection keychain, also defunct. [L]

Beneath the cut are con exclusives and promotional items that were not for sale (at all, or at least by themselves) but that you can still probably hunt down online. Also... still available apps.

I can't believe this is real but there are two apps. She-Ra Stickers is available on iOS and Android and is exactly what you expect: "stickers" (pngs) to send in texting conversations. She-ra Gems of Etheria (also still available on iOS and Android) is a match 3+ game. It doesn't have micro transactions or ads (since, you know, the whole thing is an ad) so it's actually better than most things on the app store.

@tippenfunkaport also made a post about "digital merch" (backgrounds, printed papercrafts, etc) that Dreamworks posted online.

Promotion Exclusives:

I made a separate post for promo-exclusive merch. Things marked with an [L] still have photos in the long post, but photos are better gathered for all of these things in the promo-exclusive post, so please look at that one if any of these interest you.

Lootcrate/Lootwear made a pair of socks, a notebook, and a tumbler all featuring the season one She-ra silhouette. These were only available as part of their subscription service and not for individual sale. [L]

A Sonic kids meal tie-in that featured: magnets of the characters, funko-esque She-ra and Hordak figures, Swift Wind & Imp "straw buddies," and a small inflatable toy Sword of Protection. [L]

The following is promotional material that was never available to the general public:

A statuette of She-ra sent out to family bloggers to promote season four. Very limited due to the tiny production and being fragile. [L]

An equally rare metal lunchbox was sent out exclusively to influencers to promote season one.

Media press kits included a number of items that made it to the public as con-exclusives (see below for more details): collectors cards, buttons, and a foam tiara.

Stickers plugging the Dreamworks Careers' socials were also produced, likely for recruitment. [L]

Gray zip-up hoodies with a small sword on the front (pocket area placement) and a larger logo on the back were made for the crew and never available outside of Dreamworks.

A shirt featuring a graphic of She-ra riding Swift Wind with the She-ra logo in the corner - distribution & source currently unknown. Looks similar but is distinct from an existing Amazon POD design. Best guess is it was given out at an event (con, reviewer promo, employee event, etc), but I'm putting it here since I have no clue where it was from.

Con exclusives (defunct):

I made a separate post for con-exclusive promo items. Some of these still have photos in the long post, but photos and details about which cons they were available at and such are gathered in the con-exclusive post.

Button pin sets (4 sets, 4 buttons each) were at comic cons. These were possibly also available on Amazon for a time but I can't find confirmation on that beyond a backing card logo that could just mean the backing card itself was produced by Amazon. They aren't for sale now either way.

A foam She-ra crown and flat plastic/foam Sword of Protection, handed out at multiple cons.

She-ra socks designed after her uniform (including a cape on the back) seem to have been given out at cons. Photos are only in the long post* because they aren't good and I ran out of room.

There's a number of official poster designs that were handed out (mostly as mini posters) at cons, but most listings online are reprints.

Collector's cards were handed out at cons, probably SDCC.

Temporary tattoos, stickers, bookmarks, and coloring sheets were handed out at Power-Con (years unknown) and possibly other locations, likely those that sold the Scholastic books. [L]

A plastic shopping bag, made to be a disposable advertisement, exclusive to Anime Expo 2019. This one also don't have a photo in the con exclusive post because it's just one of the poster designs already in there, but there is a (wrinkly) photo in the long post*.

Questions and Clarifications

We're thrilled with how many people have expressed interest in this already and are gearing up for an amazing event!

Here's a quick round up of some of the questions we've gotten so far....

(that's how you should picture me answering all these questions)

Does it have to be a new fic or can you participate with an existing fic / new chapter of an old fic?

Must be a new fic written specifically for the bang.

Can it be an AU?

AUs are completely welcome. So long as the focus is on the SPOP characters, you can put them in whatever situations you wish!

Can it be a crossover?

While characters from other properties can cameo, the main focus of the story should be on the SPOP characters.

Can you post something from an existing AU of yours?

A new standalone fic in an existing AU of yours is fine! In other words, if someone could hop into your Bang fic without having read anything else of your AU and still follow it, that would work.

Can I write my own fic, but also sign up to illustrate someone else's?

Sure! Just let us know on your sign up form so we know what is going on.

What kind of draft is due on March 31st?

The objective of that check in is to show to the mods that your fic is close enough to finished that you are on track to post it on time. There may still be typos, it might still need a lot of editing, but it should be at least 75% complete.

This step is to ensure we're assigning artists to the fics that are nearly ready for the event and not giving someone a writing partner that has barely started.

What happens if I don't get my draft in on time?

While only writers who get their first draft in by the March 31st deadline are eligible for an artist partner, writers who complete their draft after that are still welcome to post their fic as part of the event and will still be listed alongside the other content. They just will not have the chance to be paired with an artist.

Are there any limitations on what fics can be about? i.e. does it have to center around certain ships or characters or prompts?

As long as the focus is on the SPOP characters, anything goes! The only thing to keep in mind is that artists get to choose with fics they illustrate. So the more appealing or interesting to draw your idea is, the more likely you are to attract an amazing artist.

Any restrictions on mature content?

Generally, it's open to whatever, but, for the comfort of everyone involved, we'd appreciate if it was nothing too... let's say controversial. If you're not sure, feel free to ask. Keep in mind, the previous answer about artists getting to choose applies here too.

Will you be sharing the Big Bang content on this Tumblr blog?

Yes! We plan to share links to all the fics as they are posted.

Can I participate without joining the Discord?

Unfortunately, no. This event is hosted by the SPOP Creative Flex and as such is run under the guidelines of that community. While Tippen is the head mod of this event, she is not on the mod team for the server itself so if you have questions or issues about the SPOP Creative Flex server specifically (including appealing a prior ban or other issue), you can contact the server mods through the email listed here.

What should I write? I can't pick!

That, I can't help you with. But I would say pick the idea that is begging to be written, particularly if it's large scale and exciting. It is called a BIG Bang after all! Think epically!

🛠 Behobene Bugs

Es wurde ein Fehler behoben, der verhinderte, dass Einträge mit Tags von der Suche richtig indiziert wurden, wenn sie von privat auf öffentlich geändert wurden.

Letzte Woche gab es ein Problem, das dazu führte, dass es so aussah, als würdest du jeden Blog, der dir folgt, automatisch zurückfolgen (tatsächlich fand kein automatisches Zurückfolgen statt). Es war einfach ein Anzeigefehler, den wir nun behoben haben. Wenn du einem Blog, der dir folgt, ebenfalls folgen möchtest, musst du selbst auf „Folgen“ klicken.

Das bereits erwähnte iOS-App-Update zur Behebung häufiger Abstürze wurde veröffentlicht.

Der Hinweis bei nicht unterstützten Browsern wird nicht mehr von der Fußzeile für die Anmeldung auf der ausgeloggten Entdeckenseite überlagert.

Wir haben ein Problem im Web behoben, bei dem die Suchergebnisse in Blogs manchmal als unformatierter Text angezeigt wurden.

Außerdem haben wir im Web ein Problem im Tab „Deine Tags“ behoben, das dazu führte, dass die Position des Tag-Filter-Modals von der Bildlaufposition beeinflusst wurde. Es wird nun korrekt angezeigt (in der Mitte des Bildschirms).

🚧 Baustelle

In der neuesten Version der iOS-App gibt es ein Problem, das verhindert, dass Screenreader den Text von Direktnachrichten lesen können. Wir werden dieses Problem in Version 32.6 der App beheben.

Wir haben Kenntnis von einem Problem, das dazu führt, dass der Feed „Du folgst“ abrupt endet, wenn du dem Radar-Blog folgst. Wir arbeiten daran, dies so schnell wie möglich zu beheben.

🌱 Demnächst

Im Web arbeiten wir daran, den Button „Account löschen“ von der Einstellungsseite deines Hauptblogs auf die Seite mit den Accounteinstellungen zu verschieben, um zu verhindern, dass jemand versehentlich den gesamten Account löscht.

ANDI MACK!!!!!! andi mack came out when i was in 7th grade i think? i was SO obsessed with it (still am tbh) and it's what really got me into fandoms the way i am now. it's the reason i got tumblr lol i remember when everyone was trying to guess tj's name. there's this specific post where the joke is that tj's name was tippen jippen kippen 😭😭 i think about it every day. idk. the whole andi mack experience was just so awesome. i have so many awesome memories of fandom jokes and theories and amazing people i've met <3 (you all know who you are 🫶🏼) forever missing dumb-binch-juice's fics. i also remember how me and my friend @sapphicprincessjulia started a tyrus religion board on pinterest LMFAO. i haven't checked it in a while i wonder if anyone is still active on it. but yeah! andi mack has my whole heart :)

Um Weihnachten und Silvester 2023

Das Schulfach "Rosa Tiere" ist beliebt: Gemeinsames Spielen in getrennten Haushalten

Weihnachten wird coronabedingt so wie auch schon 2020 in zwei Haushalten gefeiert. Während der Vorbereitungen am Weihnachtsabend ist die Verwandtschaft wieder im Schrank, was dieses Jahr besser geht als 2020, weil K. inzwischen studiert und von seiner Uni eine Zoom-Lizenz hat. Wenn er die nicht hätte, müssten wir uns alle 40 Minuten (oder was da so das aktuelle Limit ist) neu verbinden. Das gemeinsame Zoom-Essen klappt diesmal etwas schlechter, weil Haushalt 1 schon mit dem Essen fertig ist, als man sich in Haushalt 2 gerade erst an den Tisch setzt.

Ich weiß nicht, wie es genau dazu gekommen ist und wer die Idee hatte, aber an einem dieser Weihnachtsferienabende spielen wir skribbl.io zusammen mit Personen aus einem dritten Haushalt. skribbl.io ist ein Malspiel, bei dem man reihum einen Begriff malen muss, zum Beispiel "bekifft", "Sockel" oder "Reißverschlussprinzip", während die anderen im Chat raten, was das Dargestellte sein soll. Dass das am Handy und an den Touchpads von Laptops eher schlecht geht, ist kein Bug, sondern ein Feature, denn so krakeln alle, und diejenigen, die weniger gut zeichnen, können es auf die Technik schieben. Oder auf das knappe Zeitlimit.

Beim ersten Mal spielen die Mutter und ich gemeinsam an ihrem iPad. Da ist das Zeichnen etwas einfacher, die Teilnahme am Chat dagegen unnötig schwierig, weil das Browserspiel aus unklarem Grund nicht die normale iPad-Tastatur einsetzt, sondern eine eigene, kaum benutzbare.

Beim zweiten Mal am nächsten Tag nehme ich meinen Laptop und kann dadurch zwar noch schlechter zeichnen, aber besser am Chatgeschehen teilnehmen (und schneller meine Lösungsvorschläge tippen, was relevant für die Gewinnchancen ist). Es hängt offenbar auch vom Gerät und dessen Einstellungen ein, ob man bestimmte Spielelemente überhaupt sehen und ob man Umlaute verwenden kann.

Irgendwann in diesen Tagen gehen wir von skribbl.io zu "Gartic Phone" über, einem weiteren Malspiel, bei dem man abwechselnd malen muss und dann beschreiben, was auf einem anderen Bild zu sehen ist. Diese Beschreibung bekommt die nächste Person dann wieder als Malaufgabe. Innerhalb einer Runde ergeben sich so wie beim "Stille Post"-Spiel interessante Verschiebungen.

skribbl.io ist eher währenddessen lustig, bei Gartic Phone wird vor allem am Schluss gelacht, wenn man die Alben sieht, die automatisch aus dem Malgeschehen zusammengestellt werden. Wenn man schnell ist, kann man diese Alben auch als GIF speichern. Das sieht zum Beispiel so aus:

Gartic Phone funktioniert für die jüngste Teilnehmerin (10) besser, weil man dafür keine Rechtschreibkenntnisse braucht. Bei skribbl.io muss man das Lösungswort richtig schreiben können, auch wenn es "Akkordeon" oder "Darth Vader" ist. Für die älteste Teilnehmerin (80) waren beide Spiele wegen des Zeitlimits zu stressig, aber bei skribbl.io konnte sie wenigstens bei jemand anderem zugucken und mitraten. Davon abgesehen war beides einfacher und lustiger als unsere Versuche von 2020, in zwei Haushalten gemeinsam physische Brettspiele zu spielen.

Warum wir das nicht schon früher gemacht haben, ist mir nicht ganz klar, während ich diesen Beitrag schreibe. Die Spiele sind ja nicht neu. Erst nach dem Aufschreiben habe ich eine Theorie: Es ist wahrscheinlich das erste Jahr, in dem alle Neffen und Nichten ein eigenes Gerät haben, mit dem sie an solchen Spielen teilnehmen können. Bis dahin mussten die Jüngeren gemeinsame Familiengeräte benutzen und/oder vorher um Erlaubnis fragen.

So Perfuma from She-Ra actually ISN’T canonically a lesbian? I read on Perfuma’s wikia page that Nate Stevenson confirmed that Perfuma is a lesbian and not bi, so I googled this confirmation and it’s just that Nate Stevenson liked a tweet calling Perfuma a lesbian. Could’ve been just liking a tweet acknowledging she’s sapphic and wlw, could’ve hit the heart by mistake, could’ve approved that headcannon just as a headcannon. But at the end of the day, Perfuma might’ve genuinely liked Bow, or might’ve just had comphet, and the viewers can decide. She’s canonically sapphic, unspecified whether she’s bi or lesbian, which is going to drive some fans INSANE and she’s getting the Princess Bubblegum treatment.

I always thought she was bi. She is bisexual to me. And in canon too I might say because do you really think a heavy lgbt topic like comphet exists in she ra world? The world where being queer isn't questioned or shunned? I highly doubt it exists. Tippen makes good points.

Bow wanted to see the sunrise so Glimmer teleported them right out of bed at daybreak to see it. But they were both so tired they ended up falling asleep and missing it anyway.

Somehow, they didn't mind.

(I was on a long car ride today so I decided to doodle this over one of these chibi bases on my preschooler's Fire using a very chewed-on freebie stylus. There are probably far better ways to do art and higher quality equipment but, eh, whatever works.)

The vast majority of U.S. voters across the political spectrum don't support Republican proposals to gut Social Security benefits for Americans under age 50, according to polling results published Tuesday by the progressive think tank Data for Progress.

The survey, conducted Friday and Saturday, showed that 82% of all likely voters somewhat or strongly oppose policies that would mean "Americans currently under 50 would receive fewer Social Security benefits when they retire than those who receive Social Security benefits today."

Opposition was relatively consistent across parties: 84% of Democrats, 83% of Republicans, and 80% of Independents or third-party voters. The figures were also roughly the same regardless of age, gender, and education level.

Data for Progress further found that 72% of respondents—including 76% of Democrats, 66% of Republicans, and 72% of Independents or third-party voters—are "less likely to vote for a candidate who supported cutting future Social Security benefits for Americans currently under 50."

Back in January 2020, then-President Donald Trump—who is currently the front-runner for the GOP's 2024 nomination, despite his various legal issues and the argument that he is constitutionally disqualified from holding office again—said that programs like Social Security are "the easiest of all things" to cut.

Three of Trump's Republican 2024 opponents—Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, ex-Vice President Mike Pence, and former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley—are now publicly pushing for changes to the program that would affect younger people.

Republicans in the U.S. House of Representatives have also set their sights on the program and are currently fighting for funding cuts to the Social Security Administration that Julie Tippens, legislative director of the American Federation of Government Employees, recently warned would "devastate the agency's ability to serve the American public."

Earlier this year, House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) announced plans to establish a "commission" to examine ways to cut Social Security, and the 175-member Republican Study Committee proposed raising the program's full retirement age to 69.

As Data for Progress press secretary Abby Spring wrote in a Tuesday blog post:

"Republicans have argued that these proposed Social Security cuts are necessary to ensure that Social Security remains financially solvent—meaning the program would have enough funds to fully pay out beneficiaries—without affecting seniors currently receiving Social Security benefits.

However, other proposals, such as the Social Security Expansion Act or Social Security 2100, could extend the solvency of Social Security while increasing benefits for current and new recipients. These plans would be paid for by increasing taxes on wealthy Americans."

The think tank's poll also revealed widespread support for using tax hikes targeting the wealthy to sustain Social Security. Specifically, such policies were backed by 77% of everyone surveyed, including 83% of Democrats, 63% of Republicans, and 76% of Independents or third-party voters.

"When it comes to Social Security, candidates in the Republican Party are seemingly competing over who can offer the least popular proposals," said Data for Progress executive director Danielle Deiseroth. "No one—not even Republican voters—wants cuts to Social Security benefits for Americans under 50. Instead, voters would rather see taxes on wealthy Americans to ensure Social Security remains a guarantee for all."

Democratic President Joe Biden, who is seeking reelection, "proposed increasing taxes on the rich and businesses to prevent Medicare from running out of funds. But the latest White House budget does not propose a solution for extending Social Security," The Washington Post noted last month. "Numerous congressional Democrats have called for trillions in new taxes to avoid the Social Security shortfall, as well."
