#time asking malon out when they were younger
skyward-floored · 2 days
Note
Since you're still doing requests, I would like to ask for more Hyrule and/or Four. Maybe Four could help him with his homework or something?
Here is more Hyrule and Four (and some Legend too). Hope you enjoy! And thanks for the patience XD
————————————————————
“...And then a monster rose up from the water, with lots of ten... tenti... ten... tenicles..? ...Legend?”
“Tentacles.”
“Right, tentacles. Ten-ta-cles, that tried to grab the hero. But with one swing of his sword, the hero sliced... is that how you say it?”
“It’s an ‘eye’ sound actually, but you were close.”
“Oh. So... the hero sliced the ten-ta-cles away, and the monster couldn’t catch him, no matter how hard he tried. A long battle en... ensued, all while the waves roared, and rain poun-ded on the ship. But the hero rid the beast of all his tentacles, and it fell into the sea with a dying roar. The hero had slain the monster, and... finally earned the treasure hidden in the ship.”
Hyrule closed the book with a proud look on his face, having reached the end of the chapter, and Legend grinned over at him from his spot on the floor.
“Nice job Roolie, you barely stopped,” he complimented, and the tip of Hyrule’s ears turned pink.
“I’ve been practicing,” he said shyly, and set the book he’d been reading from on the table. “Thanks for helping, Legend.”
“No problem.”
Hyrule smiled again, and flopped back on his bed, a warm feeling in his middle. He was getting really good at reading— he’d practically caught up to Wild’s level, and kept making progress, especially with Legend’s help. Soon enough he’d be able to read books without needing anyone to help with the big words.
It felt... nice. To learn.
The bedroom door creaked, and Hyrule and Legend looked up, their littlest brother padding in with a blanket trailing behind him.
“Four? I thought you were supposed to be napping,” Legend scolded, and Four blinked, then walked by without sparing him a glance. “Ugh. Moooommm, Four escaped his nap again,” Legend called, getting to his feet and walking out into the hallway.
He continued to talk as he walked away, voice fading down the hallway, and Hyrule peered over at Four, the younger boy watching him in silence.
Hyrule swallowed at his intense gaze. He didn’t really have a lot of experience with little kids like Four, and was still getting used to the whole little brother thing.
Four was nice of course, but he was also kind of... strange. He didn’t talk much, but when he did he was weirdly well-spoken for a four-year-old, and Hyrule often found him sitting in odd places with an ear pressed to the wall. Between that and adjusting to just having younger siblings in general, Hyrule honestly didn’t know how to interact with him most of the time.
And now he was staring. At him.
Four, oblivious of Hyrule’s thoughts, stared at him another few moments, then went over to his bed and tried to climb up onto it. His legs were too short though, and he frowned, trying to claw his way up the blanket Malon had made for Hyrule.
“Hey, hey careful!” Hyrule said, and Four stopped and looked at him, tilting his head.
“Sorry,” Four said. He looked at the bed, then blinked at Hyrule hopefully. “Can you help?”
Hyrule blinked back, then after a moment’s hesitation, slowly leaned over and picked Four up. He gingerly set him on the bed, and Four smiled as he sat down, stretching out his legs and wiggling his toes.
“Thank you,” Four said, hugging his blanket to his chest.
Hyrule nodded, settling back down in his spot, and watched him in confusion as he sat there, looking idly at the patterns on Hyrule’s blanket.
“Um... Four, I thought you were supposed to be in your bed napping?” Hyrule said hesitantly. He wasn’t sure what to do here.
Four frowned, and turned his head away to look at the wall. He didn’t say anything for a minute, then suddenly flopped backwards, his head landing on Hyrule’s lap and making him jump.
Hyrule looked down at him, and Four looked up, a sad expression forming on his face.
“...I got lonely,” he said quietly.
“Oh.”
Hyrule could relate to that. He’d spent most of his life feeling lonely.
Four curled up more with his head still in Hyrule’s lap, and Hyrule gave it a hesitant pat, Four snuggling up to him. His little brother was a ball of heat, and Hyrule began to relax as Four’s eyes drooped, running another hand over his head.
“Well... you can stay here I guess,” Hyrule said quietly, and Four smiled as he closed his eyes. “So long as Mom says it’s okay. Then you won’t be lonely.”
“Thank you Roolie,” Four whispered, and Hyrule felt a weird lurch of warmth in his stomach at the words.
He grabbed the blanket and set it more over Four as his little brother began to drift off, and Hyrule leaned back, watching as Four quickly fell asleep.
He supposed he would sit here and read for a while longer.
Legend came stomping back into the room a few minutes later, and Hyrule frantically shushed him when he opened his mouth, gesturing to the sleeping kid on his lap.
“...oh. Well I guess napping there is as good as anywhere else,” Legend said with shrug. “Good job finding him Hyrule.”
Hyrule nodded, and Legend left again to tell their mom he’d found where Four went off to. He paused before he left the room though, and looked back at Four and Hyrule, the latter smiling hesitantly at the kid in his lap.
Legend smiled himself, then quietly shut the door behind him.

THERE WAS AN UPDATE YOU KNOW THE DRILL SLEEPING BE DAMMED
theres so much going on jokes that i will deffinetly take advantage of theories of the meaning of things the goddamn art everything
Tumblr media
first of all apparently Malo Mart turned to a mega corporation???? well sorry twi no 60% of discount for you that sucks
Tumblr media
thats rough buddy
i cant take it seriously poor Four, look at that face
Tumblr media
thats the face of someone who will be grounded for some time after all this madness and is totally not happy about this
Tumblr media
Sky was waiting letters from Sun, maybe she couldn't write something for him? either way poor guy look at his sad face :( the heart makes it better
Tumblr media
baby? baby??? smol???? smol hylian???? tiny cute litol hylian????child????
ahhh Time dont just say yes and left it like that! i need to know!!!
Tumblr media
Twilight my man at this point you will be grounded dont test the old man's patience
Tumblr media
Time knows the dangers of excesive courage, yes it can keep you going and maybe make you win the battle, but can also kill you if youre not careful. This is what almost happened with Twilight, this almost might have happened to Time too
Tumblr media
He's scared that for this reckless courage he might loose his descendant, the one who brought hope to him and his wife to form a family and live happy
(also he saying this makes me think more about the posibility of Malon being pregnant, too much mistery please old man just tell me i will not say anithing ur secret is safe plweas)
Tumblr media
HERO'S SHADE HERO'S SHADE
not much to say here, it might be a wrong translation that im doing but hey! it reminds me that Twi already knows that Time is the Hero's shade but like. with flesh and eyes. alive.
Tumblr media
OKAY HERE I HAVE THINGS TO SAY
When Wild asks Twilight's face changes inmediately, he doesn't want to look down, he still feels the need to be strong in front of the younger heroes, worrying them is the last of his desires
Tumblr media
Four is not stupid, he notices the actual mood of Twi and ask again, but with different words. It looks like it really made Twi reconsider things
Tumblr media
doesn't exactly talks what was having him a little down moments ago, but at least it seems to calm them, again, they shouldn't be worried after what happened
Tumblr media
Twi for hylia who were you thinking he was talking about????
no really i have that question who was he thinking that was asking for him?????
Tumblr media
"who kicked the fuck out of that bad lizard??? who did that???? yes you did!! you did it amazing!!! im so proud my beautiful exterminator of dumb lizards!!!"

Personal Head cannons for the chain!
(this is part 1)
Time.
My guy is TALL, like 6’4 tall I'd say. Sometimes the smaller members of the chain complain when they have to look up at him.
DAD. JOKES. He may not admit it but he does it. Especially around Twilight and Wind since they are his known successors. Wind hates it.
Always, and I mean ALWAYS, keeps multiple fairies and potions on hand. Especially after what happened to Twilight.
Only gets a solid 5 hours of sleep each night, it's why he's always up at the crack of dawn. Sky was heavily concerned by this at first.
A funny one, but I personally think he’s lactose intolerant. Malon kept teasing him about it when they were younger.
Twilight.
His height would be around 6’1-6’2. Not as tall as Time but still tall enough. Warriors says it's good for the ladies. Which gets him a glare from Twilight.
Accidentally called Time “dad” once. Since then he's never lived it down, Time using it to his advantage to tease him. Even brought it up to Malon too.
VERY perceptive. Can tell if someone is hiding an injury. Can often snuff out poison too. Saved a couple of the boy's lives that way.
Snores. Not like an old man snore but it's still somewhat loud. Legend asked to never be put in a room with him again when sleeping. Twilight has been hit in the face with a pillow multiple times because of this.
I like to think he's also lactose intolerant. But it's more so because of Wolfie, rather than genetics. Wild sometimes teases him about it.
Sky.
5’10. And I will die on that hill. Once lied and said he was 6’0 and got immediately humbled. He was asked to stand next to Twilight for comparison and was called out. I'd like to think the Hylians of Sky’s era are taller than others due to being in the sky. Since the gravity would be different.
Regularly plays a song Sun (his Zelda) taught him on the harp. Sometimes the other members will pitch in with their instruments. Wind called him a sap because of it.
I’d like to think he's aware of the curse, and he blames himself for it. He hasn't told anyone about it though. Rather he opts for feeling guilty in silence. (my poor boy :( )
Talks in his sleep. Most of the time it's just mumbling, but he once scared Hyrule by yelling one night. He often has one-sided conversations with Fi when asleep. Wild picked up on it a couple of times.
When he first got to the surface, he would eat any berries he saw. Even if it made him sick. He did it a couple of times while with the chain and got heavily scolded by Wild.
Warriors.
5’11. Like Sky, he also tried to say he was 6’0, except he was more successful. Which probably means the chain isn't that good at measurements. Or math in general.
He once forgot to wash his scarf for like two months and it was an absolute nightmare. So now he triple makes sure he washes it from now on.
I reckon he sleeps like a vampire. Like full-on dead Dracula style. Legend thought he was dead once and smacked the shit out of him to wake him up. That was an eventful night for sure.
If he was modern he would definitely listen to Ice Spice. I will not elaborate.
He is suuuuccccchhhhh a softie for old ladies. He once went out of his way to help an old lady with her shopping and it was the sweetest thing ever. The other members teased him for it but he isn't ashamed of it. Mentioned something about respecting elders.

@savimatteo2810 I love love loved turning this headcanon into a mini fic. It ended up being a bit longer than I thought so sorry about that. Or not.
Hope you enjoy.
More Than a Brother
Wars had been a little offended when Malon didn't ask him to join the rest of the muscle with help on the ranch. He knew he wasn't the strongest hero and he wasn't ashamed of that. Still, he couldn't help that her words stung him a little. The only benefit of being side lined was that Wind had ended up with him. With nothing to do on the ranch Wars and Wind had offered to run errands for Malon in town and make their usual enquiries about monster sightings in the area.
They had been in Time's era less than a day but Wars was keen to keep his head focused on their mission. As tempting as it was to relax in a warm and welcoming place like Lon Lon Ranch, he was keenly aware that they couldn't let their guard down completely. Shadow was still out there somewhere, as were his black blooded monsters. Plus, they were still no closer to figuring out what was causing the infected monsters to begin with. Wars itched to do something and if he couldn't make himself useful on the ranch, he would gladly walk to town to do some recon.
As he and the Sailor left the ranch and joined the road headed for town, Wars realised the two of them hadn't spent much time alone together. He felt guilty that his attention was so often drawn away from his brothers, either by planning, scouting or just sleep and recovery. During the war he and Wind had been fairly close. Of course Mask, aka a younger Time, had also been around, usually causing trouble and generally being a little shit. But Wind had been a little older than Mask and he and Wars used to talk a lot. He missed those quiet evenings when Wind would tell him about his travels and exploring the great sea. Wars had marvelled at the idea of Hyrule being utterly submerged beneath crashing waves. Wind had marvelled at the idea of horses.
"So where do you wanna go first when we get to town?" Wind asked, pulling Wars out of his memories.
"Hmm?" He mumbled.
"I said, where do you want to go when we get to town? I've been saving up some rupies and I thought about going on a lil shopping spree. Fancy spending some of that soldiers wage you're hoarding?!" Wind gave Wars an elbow to the ribs and Wars rubbed at it with a smirk.
"I'm not hoarding it, I'm saving it." He insisted. "And I'm sure you're the only one who believes I have any rupies to my name anyhow!"
"Well that doesn't matter, what are you saving it for anyway?" Wind probed.
"Retirement," Wars sighed.
"Re-what?!" Wind scoffed, almost halting in his tracks as he tried to comprehend the older hero.
"Retirement Sailor. You know, that thing that happens to people when they finish working."
"Yeah, but you're not that old yet. I mean, you are old but you're not THAT old. Not like Time."
"Hey, I'm not old!" Wars retorted.
"Eh, you're old to me," Wind shrugged.
"Thanks, that's good to know," Wars chuckled.
Wind seemed to forget his pervious question and they continued walking in silence for a while. Eventually the light began to fade and darkness swallowed up the road ahead.
"S'pose we should find somewhere to make camp," Wind observed, already looking for a good spot beside the road.
"Time says there's a rise a little way off protected by some trees. It should only be a little further, then we can get some sleep."
"Okay good," Wind yawned. "I hate walking."
"I know you do champ."
Just as Time had said, Wars spotted the hill and the ring of trees just up ahead on their right. The pair stepped off the road and climbed the short rise to the top. Wars' eyes swept the perimeter instinctively looking for danger. The hill was a good vantage point. If Time hadn't suggested it, Wars would probably have picked it out as a good camp site anyway.
"Where do you wanna sleep Wind?" Wars asked, already pulling out his own bed roll and a flint and steel.
"Here looks flat enough," Wind announced, laying out his bed roll on a soft patch of grass beneath two trees. "I'll gather up some firewood. Did you bring food? Or do I have to eat your cooking?"
"I swiped some pastries from Malon's pantry before we left. But I resent your attitude towards my cooking!" Wars retorted, pointing his striking steel in Wind's face.
"What?! Everything you cook is lumpy and too salty, everyone says so," Wind shrugged, already turning to go look for sticks.
"What do you mean everyone?" Wars asked to Wind's back, but the kid had already walked away.
Wars sighed and shook his head. Trying to remind himself that he had wanted Wind to come with him on their little outing. When Wind returned with a hefty armful of decent looking wood, Wars set about lighting some kindling and building up their campfire. He pulled his bedroll closer to the steadily building flames and sat on it cross legged. Wind did the same, almost mirroring Wars' movements. Wars pulled his bag into his lap and pulled out the pastries wrapped in paper, handing one over to Wind.
"Thanks," Wind said, as he took the parcel eagerly and started to unwrap it.
"Thank Malon when we get back," said Wars, before he took a bite of his own supper. "Actually, probably best she doesn't know these are missing. I don't think she likes me much already."
"That's not true," Wind protested, lowering his pastry for a moment. He frowned at Wars which made him hesitate.
"Come on, I'm definitely her least favourite of Time's boys. I'm no help around the ranch and as you so kindly put it before, I can't cook. At best I'm a guest who has to be accommodated for, at worst, I'm a burden to her."
"I don't see you that way," Wind mumbled, almost too low for Wars to hear.
"What d'you say?" He asked.
"I said I'm sure she doesn't see you that way." Wind said a little louder. "She likes all of us, doesn't matter if we're useful on the ranch. Besides, I don't think Miss Malon is capable of being mean like that."
"No, I don't think that woman has a bad bone in her body. I wouldn't like to arm wrestle her, but she's certainly got a good heart." Wars said wistfully, gazing into the crackling flames of the fire.
"She'd make a good Ma," Wind sighed, raising his pastry to his lips again.
"I'm sure she would. And though I think the prospect would terrify him, I think Time will make an excellent father some day." Wars took another bite with a smile tugging at his lips.
"Could have fooled me back when we first met him. I thought I was a menace!" Wind huffed and Wars let out a cackle of laughter.
"You were both terrors, but Time certainly turned terroizing me into his own personal hobby," Wars chuckled as he spoke.
"Used to think you'd clap him round the ears if he ever stood still long enough," Wind remarked, licking crumbs off his fingers.
"Believe me I tried, but I don't think I was the right man to try and discipline that wild child," Wars shook his head.
They fell into silence as Wars finished his supper and Wind threw his scrunched up ball of paper into the fire. Wars did the same and added a few larger sticks onto the flames. A few sparks drifted into the sky and he watched them rise high towards the stars.
"Get some sleep Sailor. I'll take first watch," Wars insisted, nodding to his younger brother.
"You sure we need it?" Wind raised an eyebrow. "Malon says there haven't been monsters sighted in these parts for weeks now."
"I know, but that can always change. Besides, it's not just monsters we keep watch for after all. There's regular old bandits, wolves and of course the Bogey Man!" Wars flashed Wind a toothy smile and waggled his eyebrows.
Wind couldn't help laughing at the usually so serious Captain. He'd never made such a claim before.
"The Bogey Man?!" Wind raised his eyebrows, staring at Wars in disbelief. "Come on Cap, how old do you think I am?"
"Twelve?" Wars tried to remember the last time they had discussed ages with each other.
"Thirteen," Wind huffed, crossing his arms with a pout. "And I'm almost fourteen."
"Right, of course," Wars nodded.
"And as we've established, you're old. But if you want to sit up for half the night I'm not gonna stop you. I'm bloody beat!" Wind exclaimed with a teasing note in his voice.
"Language Sailor!" Wars chided him.
Wind wafted his hand in the Captain's direction and began to make himself comfortable on his bedroll. He yanked a blanket over himself and pulled it all the way up to his chin. Wars smiled. Wind did the same thing every night he went to sleep.
"G'night," Wind mumbled, his voice now muffled by the blanket.
"Good night Link."
***
A few hours passed in silence as the night dragged on. Wars sat with his back to the warmth of the fire, staring out into the night and it's potential dangers. Every now and then he wood look behind him at Wind. The boy looked even younger when he was asleep. The usual fire and grit of his personality washed away by peace and comfort. His face looked calm and his brow was smooth. Wars felt himself smiling at their youngest brother sleeping so deeply.
Wars yawned despite himself and quickly gave himself a shake. He drank some water and tried to sit up straighter. Years of training had made it easier to go longer and longer periods without sleep. Besides, if something happened to Wind because he fell asleep on watch, Wars would never be able to forgive himself. He tried not to look at Wind again and kept his wide eyes scanning around them for any sign of danger.
However, a short while later, his attention was drawn back to Wind. A sound like a small whimpering animal caught Wars' attention first. He looked down to see the peaceful expression on the boys face had been shattered. His face was screwed up in what looked like pain. Fear tugged at Wars' heart as he quickly checked to see what could be wrong. There were no immediate signs of injury and Wind hadn't accidentally rolled too close to the fire. His mind relaxed a little as he realised Wind was probably just having a bad dream.
Though Wars and all the heroes knew from personal experience, just how bad their nightmares could be. With a sigh, Wars got to his knees and scooted over to kneel beside Wind's head. He placed a gentle hand on the boy's shoulder and gave him an experimental shake.
"Wind?" He asked softly. He didn't want to wake him too quickly and disorientate the poor boy.
Wind didn't stir, but he let out a soft moan and scrunched up his eyes.
"Hey, Sailor," Wars tried again. "Wind, you're dreaming. You might want to wake up."
Wars gave Wind another shake, firmer this time, concerned about what might be going through Wind's head right now.
"No... don't wanna... Mustn't... Stop!" Wind uttered in barely coherent syllables.
"Come on Wind wake up!" Wars said loudly and shook both of Wind's shoulders for good measure.
At last the boys eyes flashed open. He sat up with a start and Wars did his best not to crowd him in case he panicked. Wind stared around himself, clearly confused and definitely afraid of something. Wars could hear his breathing coming out in rapid little rasps.
"Wind," He said, lowering his voice to a soft whisper. "Wind it's okay."
Wind whipped his head around and Wars could see tears streaking down the boy's face.
"Wind, Link, you're okay. You were having a bad dream. You're okay. You're safe."
Wars did everything he could to reassure Wind he was alright. He knew that many of the boys, including himself, didn't like to be touched too quickly after waking from a nightmare. It made him feel trapped, as though hands with evil intent held him down. So he waited until Wind seemed lucid enough before laying a hand on his back. Wind flinched, but he didn't move away either which was a good sigh. Wars tried again and this time Wind leant into his hand.
"There you go," Wars cooed. "You're alright. That sounded like one nasty dream."
Was began rubbing circles into Wind's back as he continued to speak. Wind nodded feebly.
"Nightmare," he squeaked, the sound tugging at Wars' heart. "Ganon and Aryl and Grandma... Mmm, don't remember much else."
"Well that's good. I'm sure you'll forget the rest too," Wars remarked, trying to find a positive.
Wind nodded and then flopped against Wars' body. He almost knocked them both to the ground but Wars caught him in his arms and braced himself just in time.
"You okay kiddo?" Wars asked with a frown Wind couldn't see.
"M'okay," Wind mumbled into Wars' chest.
He could feel tears soaking into the front of his tunic, but he hugged Wind closer to himself regardless. Wars couldn't count the number of times he'd woken up shouting and screaming only to fall into Time or Sky's arms. Their warm embrace chasing away the specters of his own nightmares. Somehow when the roles were reversed it was a little different.
Wars had always been a very closed off person. He had to be out of necessity. The army was no laughing matter. And after all, emotion had started the war of ages in the first place. He'd had to grow up and get smart quick, quicker than most young solders his age. Responsibility had been thrust upon him leaving no room for his heart. A cool head was all that was required for a hero in his time, he knew that, and Wars had done his very best. But all of that was behind him now. Yet he still struggled to show his emotions. The walls he had spent years building would probably take years to take down again. His brothers had begun to do some of that work. Assuring him at every possibility that not everything was down to him. The burden of this new threat was shared among them equally and everyone had their own baggage to carry.
The small body currently curled against his own tugged at that vulnerable side of him. The side he had done his best to bury deep deep down. But against his better judgement he had decided to let these boys in. Let them into his heart. Wind had earned a place there long ago, as had Time, little terror that he was. But Wind was still young. Too young by all accounts.
Wars found his thoughts drifting to Time and how he had essentially adopted the other younger heros. He really would make a great father some day. What about himself? Wars had never given it a moments thought before, but now he considered the prospect. Would he make a good father if it ever happened. Of course he'd actually have to retire and settle down and of course find a wife who'd put up with him.
Wind stirred in his embrace. Wars glanced down and found that while he'd been thinking to himself the kid had gone back to sleep.
As gently as he could, Wars laid Wind back down on his bed roll and tucked his blanket in around his body. With a sigh Wars scooted away a little and returned to his watch duty. Not before he considered his question one more time. Would he be a good dad?
***
Just after midnight Wars woke Wind for his watch and the bleery eyed teen begrudgingly unfurled himself from his blankets and went to sit by the fire for his stint. Wars knew he shouldn't feel guilty about making Wind do his shift. But he couldn't help it. Even though Wind was constantly insisting he pull his own weight with the group and be treated just like the other heroes, he was still a child. Though Wars knew Wind would have some very choice words for him if he ever called him a child to his face.
Wars slept fitfully until the sun began to creep over the horizon. He awoke to the feeling of weak sunlight on his eyelids. He'd always been an early riser, usually up before everyone else to chat with whoever had been on last watch. Wind gave him a nod as he sat up and rubbed his palms into his sleep caked eyes. Wars guessed he must have shed a few tears while he was dreaming, given the damp patch on his scarf. Either that or he had slept with his mouth open and dribbled down his chin. If that was the case he hoped Wind hadn't been looking at him at the time.
They broke camp at a leasurely pace, hoping to get a late breakfast in town once the bakery opened. There was a chill in the air despite the warm summer they were experiencing. Wars noticed Wind with his arms crossed, rubbing his upper arms to keep them warm.
"You cold?" Wars asked plainly.
"I'm alright, it'll warm up soon enough," Wind shrugged, but he kept on rubbing his arms.
With a sigh Wars pulled the scarf from around his neck and draped it over Wind instead. Wind stiffened and glared up at the Captain.
"I said I'm alright, you don't have to give me this!" He protested. Even though he pulled it around himself unconsciously.
"I know, but I don't want you to catch a chill. Looking after a hero with a cold or the flu is a pain in the ass!" Wars remarked.
It was a pretty lame excuse. They'd all been sick at some point on their journey, and none of them had ever made the sufferer feel guilty about their weakened state. But Wars couldn't admit that he hated to see any of them suffer, especially Wind. Although the young hero was surprisingly sturdy, Wars just couldn't escape the fact that he was still a teenager. A young one at that.
They continued to walk in silence for a long time while the sun gradually crept higher into the sky. Eventually Wind was warm enough to offer the scarf back to Wars, but before he could open his mouth to speak however, they heard a shrill scream rent the still morning air.
"Where did that come from?" Wind asked, wide eyed as he stared around the empty road.
"Somewhere to the west," Wars replied, ears and eyes alert.
Though he had already been watching out for danger, the scream had caught him a little off guard. He tried to pin point where it had come from but he couldn't hear much else. The birds had fallen silent which wasn't a good sign. Another scream. This time higher and sounding more strangled than the first. Wars and Wind's heads both whipped around in the same direction and they sprinted off towards the source of the sound.
It only took them a few minutes to run through the small coppice of trees and discover the source of the commotion. Some travellers crossing Hyrule Field were being mobbed by large flock of keese, two of which were on fire. The two people running across the grass waved their arms over their heads, swatting at the large bat-like creatures. Wars pulled out his fire-rod, knowing it wouldn't hurt the fire-keese much but that it would hopefully drop some of the others.
Wind held out his batton before him and began uttering a familiar song under his breath. Wars braced himself for the gust of wind he knew would surely come next.
"Get down!" He yelled at the poor travellers.
Mercifully they saw the two young men approaching and did as instructed. They both dropped to the ground, hands held protectively over their heads. Wars swung his rod in a wide ark towards the keese, sending out a spurt of bright flame. Wind's gust whipped up at the same moment and carried Wars' flame higher. A second later the flaming torrent collided with the flock and sent most of them spiralling out of the sky, only to poof out of existence in a flash of purple dust.
"Not infected!" Wind called to Wars, who had pulled out his sword to deal with the two flaming keese.
Wars swung high but the keese dodged easily out of his way.
"Damn it!" Wars swore under his breath as he missed again.
To his left he caught a glimpse of Wind with his hand in his bag, clearly searching for a different weapon. He was surprised when the kid pulled out his boomerang. Wars chuckled to himself. Of course ranged weapons would work better on these annoying creatures. But he wasn't the best shot in the world.
Wind raised his arm and threw his boomerang as hard as he could. It spun through the air in a swift ark towards his target, colluding with one of the two keese. Wind jumped into the air and caught the boomerang with practiced ease. He spun around to throw it a second time, once again hitting his mark. Warriors rushed forwards to make sure the two beasts were dead, plunging his sword into one when he found it twitching in the grass
Momentarily distracted by the puffs of purple smoke, Wars failed to keep an eye over his shoulder. A lizalfos, one from Wild's era, snaked through the long grass towards his back. Wind's keen eyes noticed the disturbance in the grass however and managed to cry out before the lizard like creature could reach its target.
"Dad watch out!" He yelled, suddenly clapping a hand over his mouth as he realised what he'd said.
If Wars had noticed he didn't waste time thinking about it. He spun on the spot staying low and ready for attack. His vision focused in on the Lizalfos and he held his shield out ready. He'd faced plenty of Lizalfos but the ones from Wild's era could be particularly troublesome. Wars used his low position to dash forwards and jab upwards towards the creatures head. It jumped back in alarm, but Wars had expected that. He kept moving, trying to keep the monster within striking range. Wind wanted to rush in and help, but Lizalfos were so unpredictable he could end up endangering Wars or himself if he interfered.
Warriors and the Lizalfos danced around each other in the long grass. Both waiting for the other to drop their guard or make a mistake. Despite the infuriating way the creature moved Wars was patient and chose his moment carefully. In its frustration the Lizalfos stopped moving to roar at Wars. Instantly he lunged forwards, thrusting his sword up into the creatures head through its lower jaw. With a strangled hiss the Lizalfos stilled and slumped forwards. Wars had to stumble backwards to avoid being crushed beneath it, before the monster fizzled into smoke.
As Wars got his breath back and bent down to pick up his sword, he noticed the two travellers approaching. A pair of young women with heavy back-packs hanging from their shoulders walked towards him and Wars slapped on a friendly smile of greeting.
"Thank you so much!" One of the women exclaimed breathlessly. "If you and your son hadn't come along when you did, those creatures would have killed us for sure!"
"Or at the very least they would have stolen our harvest," said the other, indicating their bulging back-packs.
"And we had no idea that lizard was in the grass too!"
"Actually they're called Lizalfos, and they're not that dangerous. Just difficult to land a hit," Wind enlightened them as he walked over.
"Wait," Wars said with a blink, as he registered what had just been said. "Did you say son?"
"He must be tall for his age, but you look like you've trained your boy well Sir," one of the women remarked.
She paused as she hoisted her bag off her back and set it on the ground. Opening the flap Wars and Wind could see that it was full of corn cobs.
"We don't have much, but I'd like to offer you some of our harvest in return for saving our lives. Please take it with our thanks," she continued, pulling out an armful of corn and holding it out to the two boys.
"Thank you ma'am," said Wind eagerly. He stepped forwards and clumsily took the food.
Wars couldn't help but chuckle as the boy struggled to hold what appeared to be at least ten corn cobs almost as long as his forearms. Hopefully he'd earn some points with Malon for bringing back free food.
"Here," he said, pulling out his own bag. "You can put them in here Wind."
Wind obliged and the two women watched as the boys loaded up Warrior's bag.
"Aww, Wind. What a cute name." Observed one of the women, earning her a scowl from the boy in question. "Did your mama give you that name? Or was it your father here?"
"My...?" Wind began to ask as he looked up into Wars' face, which had turned bright read.
Wind wondered if it was from the sudden exertion, or something else.
"Thank you for the food and I hope you don't run into any more danger on your journey. We should be pressing on now," Wars declared, as he streightened up and turned so that Wind couldn't see his face.
"Thanks again," said the woman as she hoisted her bag back onto her back.
Wars and Wind stood for a moment watching the two women walk away towards the road. For a long time they stood in silence, neither able to look at the other. Wars was acutely aware of how warm and flushed his face was. Had Wind really said what he thought he had? He tried to think it over in his mind. There wasn't really anything else it could have been. Had he really called him, Dad?
"Wars?" Wind asked, a little timidly from behind him. "You okay? That Lizalfos didn't get you anywhere did it?"
Wars cleared his throat and pulled his smile back onto his face before turning to look at Wind.
"No, I'm alright. No injuries to report here. How about you?"
"I'm good. Should we get going?" Wind replied, jerking his thumb back towards the road.
"Yeah, sounds good to me."
Warriors shoulders relaxed a little as they strolled back across the grass towards the road. He kept trying to turn his attention back to their task, completing Malon's errends in town. But he kept getting distracted. They had once again turned onto the road and Wind was walking a little ahead of him. Wars' scarf fluttered behind him, almost touching the ground. He'd looped it around his neck a few times, but it was still far too long. Wars felt himself smiling absentmindedly, then shook himself.
What was happening to him. What was he doing?! Wars was used to looking out for and taking care of other people. If you didn't have other soldiers backs in a war why would you expect them to have yours. The same was true of the Chain. They all looked out for each other and they relied on each other to have their backs in times of crisis. They were all experienced heroes who had faced numerous foes and come out on top. Despite all of this knowledge however, Wars couldn't shake the feeling that he had to protect them. Or more specifically, he had to protect Wind.
He'd been Wars' charge before and he'd done his best to look after the boy during the war. Despite knowing Wind was a capable fighter and wiser beyond his years, Wars' heart bled every time he saw the boy take a hit, or nurse an injury. The longer their journey continued, the more the Sailor had wormed his way into the Captain's cold heart. It wasn't just that the boy was likable. It wasn't just that he was so much younger than all of them. It wasn't even that Wars thought he couldn't handle himself in a fight. He absolutely could. It was that, despite his best efforts, Warriors had grown to love the kid. And if Wind's reaction today was anything to go by, he might love Wars in return.
"Hey Sailor," Wars suddenly found himself calling to Wind, before he'd even figured out what he wanted to say.
"Yeah?" Wind replied brightly, turning to walk backwards while he talked.
Wars was afraid that Wind might step on the scarf and strangle himself to the ground with it. He pushed the thought aside and tried to focus on the one occupying his brain.
"Did you..." He hesitated. Wondering if he could let the subject slide. "Did you call me, Dad?"
Wind's eyes dropped to the ground and he turned around again, still walking a few steps ahead of Warriors.
"You heard that?" He replied sheepishly, crossing his arms as his shoulders tensed.
Wars couldn't see but from the sound of his voice he guessed Wind was pouting. He'd heard that voice and seen that face many times.
"I did, your shout almost definitely saved my life," Wars affirmed.
He reached out and gently gripped Wind's shoulder, drawing them level with each other. Walking side by side Wars tried to catch Wind's eye.
"Do you... Do you see me as a... As a father?" Wars asked tentatively.
His heart was thumping in his throat. As he waited for Wind to respond, Wars thought he might pass out from the sound of blood rushing through his ears.
"Well..." Wind began. "Not in a weird way. Like, I know you're not my Dad obviously. But, you know... You've always, always taken care of me and stuff and... The others are like brothers, they're loud and brash and they like to tease. But you're..." Wind tried to find the words to finish what he wanted to say. What he was feeling. "You're more... Yeah, I guess you're more like a father to me."
Wars let out a breath he hadn't realised he was holding. His heart beat returned to normal and he didn't feel quite as sick. As he relaxed a little a warm tingle washed over him. He feeling he had rarely experienced before. It made him fell light and safe. Wind, their little pirate, saw him, war torn and shell shocked Warriors, as a father figure. So much so that in the heat of battle he had called him Dad.
"What about Time?" Wars frowned, finally catching Wind's eye.
"Nah, Twilight and Wild might see him as some kind of parent, but they have a connection with each other. You and me know what that Sprite is really like!" Wind gave Wars a nudge to the ribs and he couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah, I guess when you two met for the first time he was younger than you. That must seem so long ago for him." Wars observed, his face growing pensive.
"Yeah, not so long for us though," Wind nodded.
"Apparently not."
Their conversation dwindled and Wars tried to think of what to say next. Wind saved him however by adding,
"You don't have to say anything about it by the way. I think I just wanted you to know."
"Thank you Sailor. And, I'm honoured."

Twi talking about his reader with Time and time putting together that his friend settled down and had kids and such. Upon first meeting Twi’s s/o he isn’t sure because she’s so nice and welcoming not like the woman who he knew that fought her way into her position until Twi says something absurd which leads to her ranting and eventually yanking at Twi’s ear challenging him that Time is like “ah yes this is definitely a descendent of hers” has been heavy on my mind lately.
time and twi being related is so integral to my sanity its insane.
time seeing pieces of the future, his impact, the impact of those around him, and his response to it all is also just as important.
(imagining a one-on-one grandfather-grandson time-traveling trip together because what are the rest of the chain gonna be doing except for looking like🧍🏼)
Tumblr media
"Why don't you tell me about your version of her? It's only fair since I've given you my share."
Time isn't sure how they started talking of you, but he's glad to hear you made something of yourself a few centuries down the line, even if he wasn't hearing it from your words as he would've liked.
There's an unsure look on Twilight's face before he quips back with "d'ya want the good ones, or the bad ones?" Uncertainty quickly turns into adoration. "Dream girl ain't got a shortage of either."
(If Time were younger, he'd certainly gag at the nickname. It was cute though, and after Twilight had explained his reasoning for calling you that, it added onto the level of sweetness.)
Idk why I started this off like it was a fic. Anyways.
After arriving in Ordon (or wherever else you two decided to live), Time would be a little more than conflicted because?? You literally kissed Twilight's cheek and gave him the most dreamy smile??? You are not your ancestor????? But he also doesn't want to call or think of Twilight as a liar????????
(To be entirely truthful, he doesn't think Twilight has a lying bone in his body.)
After being invited inside, Time is further confused by Twilight's telling of you. You offered him clean clothes, to bandage his scrapes and bruises, and asked him what he wanted to eat since it was nearing the time you usually started dinner.
Time doesn't even think his version of you knew how to cook.
Since the dinner table only seats two (for now. Twilight is always talking about how he's gonna build a bigger one for the future), you, Time, and Twilight are settling yourselves around the living room or whatever they were called back then.
"Shame Malon ain't here, huh Old Man?"
You elbow Twilight hard enough to almost make him drop him plate while hissing "don't be rude," and that's when Time finally starts to see the similarities between his you and Twilight's you.
"What? 'm not the only one that calls him old man! Everyone does! He said we could call 'em that to!"
"Oh, so it's your job to point out the obvious now? What if he was insecure about his age?"
"He ain't!"
The second thing that makes him reason that you really hadn't changed in over a hundred years is when you kick Twilight for pulling your feet into his lap while the plates were still present.
You said it was a hygiene thing, Twilight joked that it was because your feet were ugly.
There's a knot on Twilight's head now.
Totally unrelated but just had the brief image of Time laying in bed with Malon once they hit his timeline and he's just telling her all about his time staying with you and Twilight to try and convince her about moving the whole having kids things to now instead of later.
Also imagining him finding you in his timeline and just gossiping, asking if you've found anyone special to settle down with.
(Time looks like he gives and gets good gossip. He looks like he knows exactly what to say/do to get the good stuff because of everything from Majora's Mask.)
ANYWAYS.
Time sees a lot more of his you in Twilight's you the day after. Whether you work alongside Twilight or somewhere in the city (or not at all), he's able to see everything in your mannerisms.
(You asked if he wanted to do the equivalent of a ride-along while you were out and he's never said yes to something so quickly— except when Malon asked him out. Y'all are def talking about stupid shit Twilight's done.)
From how you haggle prices down, to how you drive away people who had less than innocent intentions (from yourself and others. He'd have a field day retelling how you verbally bullied a man for trying to steal from an older woman), it all just screamed his you.
As soon as he gets to his timeline he's showing up at your front door to catch up, trust and believe 🤞🏽

A Cinnamon Mask
Warnings: A panic attack happens, and a character being poisoned in the past is strongly alluded to.
1/3 fics!
The fire in the hearth crackled, filling the comfortable silence. The Chain had stopped their current trek through the snowy land of Hebra to rest, and Wild had guided them to the Hebra Trailhead Lodge, which was luckily devoid of its common patrons, allowing all nine of them and their various gear to fit inside the small cabin.
Wind had commandeered the bed, wrapped in various extra blankets with the remnants of a spicy elixir in the bottle he held. Being from a tropical climate and constantly under the sun, the pirate was not acclimated to cold weather. Next to him was Sky, the knight happy to be resting under a roof, even if the cold had little to no effect on him. A perk of growing up and living on an island in the sky.
One. Two.
The others were faring better than the sailor, even Legend, with his lack of pants. He claimed to be used to weather extremes, and refused to elaborate further. Sat on either side of him were Hyrule and Four, the two seemingly content to help him repair rips in their clothes.
Three. Four. Five.
On top of the barrels next to the hearth was a pile of Time’s armor, the man in question slipping on the warm doublet Wild had offered over his own tunic- the cold metal of his armor would do no good to keep Time warm. A quiet conversation with Warriors and Twilight was held as Wild piped in from where he was making something in the pot.
Six. Seven. Eight. Counting himself, 9.
Time adjusted the warm doublet, it surprisingly fit, with no tightness around his shoulders, a common issue for him. He kneeled down to reach his pack, digging around to find the thick blanket that had been packed (but knowing Malon, she probably put an extra one or two in).
A sharp whistle broke through the quiet atmosphere, demanding attention to the hearth, where Wild stood with six steaming mugs and Twilight behind him with three.
“I made us some hot chocolate, it’s a recipe I learned from Uma in Hateno,” appreciative murmurs rose, “And don’t worry, Twilight didn’t do any of the making.” That drew a few laughs from the heroes as the two proceeded to pass out the drinks.
Nodding his thanks, Time wrapped his hands around the mug, feeling both the warmth and the craftsmanship of it. Must be one of the mugs Sky carved, judging by the intricate patterns and steady lines.
“It smells good,” Wind took a sip, “and it tastes good too! I don’t think I’ve ever had this before!” The sailor’s hands were wrapped tightly around the mug, likely attempting to leech the heat out.
“It’d be a mite strange if you’d’ve had this before, being from a warm climate and such.” Twilight was nursing his own mug, as he sat down next to Sky.
The conversation flowed easily as Wild’s hot cocoa loosened the grip of any remaining cold, at some point turning onto the topic of stories from their adventures.
“There’s no way! That’s impossible!” Four shouted, face painted in complete disbelief.
“It’s not impossible, I’ve done it! When we next get to my Hyrule, I’ll ask Gor Coron and see if he would be up for another round.”
“You’re telling me you sumo wrestled a Goron? The people that are partially made of rock? Those guys?” Legend seemed skeptical, his left eyebrow lifted up.
Twilight struggled to defend himself as the younger heroes ganged up on him, poking and prodding for answers, or in Legend’s case, trying to get him to “tell the truth”.
A choked whine snapped Time’s attention away from the conversation, his ears flicking as he turned to face the direction of the noise.
He was met with a wide-eyed Warriors, staring down at the mug that rested in his tight yet trembling grip. In one motion, his grip loosened and the mug clattered to the floor, spraying the (now cold) hot cocoa across the floor.
Another choked off whine, and Time slowly advanced towards the captain, keeping his hands in view, as if he were approaching an easily-spooked horse. One foot stepped on a creaky floorboard and Warriors’ head whipped up, still wide-eyed, but Time could better see his expression.
Pure and utter panic.
Watching him carefully, the elder hero noticed that the younger had positioned himself into a position where he could both attack and defend, likely done subconsciously. Time raised both his hands up, showing he was unarmed.
“Captain… what happened?” In a flash of blue Time was knocked to the ground, and Warriors had effectively cornered himself, the panic in his eyes brighter. The war hero trembled as he brandished his sword.
A pair of calloused hands helped Time back upright, “Why did he attack you?” The rancher mumbled, gaze locked onto the captain.
“He’s panicking, that’s what. Something set him off.”
A few heads swiveled to the veteran, who only shrugged and gave a non-committal noise.
Warriors was muttering something, and Time strained his ears to try and catch what he was saying.
“Poison… trust… cinnamon…”
The rest was too mumbled to understand. It seemed his descendant had also heard what Warriors had been muttering, as he tilted his head in confusion.
“Poison? Cinnamon? What is he-“
“Fuck.”
All 7 heads snapped to the veteran, whose ears were pinned against his head, a look of recognition in his eyes. He growled.
“He thinks his drink was poisoned.”
“What?” Wild stared at Legend, a quizzical, yet worried, expression adorning his face.
“Cinnamon. It’s used to mask the taste and smell of poisons.” Legend explained.
“How do-“
“Not the time, Rulie.”
Time wracked his brain for something, for anything, when he landed on a moment a few weeks back, when he and the captain were up for watch.
Shit.
“I know what happened,” several heads turned to look at him, “he thinks we tried to poison him.” He turned his eye back to Warriors, the panic still evident in his gaze.
Again, he shuffled forward, palms held upward in a placating gesture. Warriors pressed himself further into the corner, his breathing picking up and hitching on every other breath.
“Link.”
The utterance of his actual name snapped Warriors partially back into reality, gaze now finally realizing Time.
“There you are. Link, listen, we aren’t trying to hurt you.”
Time advanced forward again, now within reaching distance of Warriors, and he slowly descended onto his knees, the joints creaking in protest.
“Can I touch you?” He waited until Warriors processed the question.
A nod.
Settling his hands on the captain’s knees, he started tapping an easy rhythm.
“Steady yourself. In for 4… hold for 7… out for 4…” Warriors copied his directions, breath hitching a few times, but steadily evening out.
“There we go. You’re okay. What are 5 things you can see?”
“You, the bed, the others, Sky’s shield, mugs.”
His rhythm continued.
“Good, now, 4 things you can touch?”
“The floor, my sword, my scarf, the wall.”
The breaths evened out more.
“3 things you can hear?”
“The fire, the wind, and creaking wood.”
Warriors’ eyes lost their panicked sheen.
“Almost there. 2 things you can smell?”
“Fire, and- and cinnamon.”
Time kept up his tapping.
“1 thing you can taste?”
“Nothing. I think I burnt my tongue.”
A quiet sigh of relief flooded through the group, who chuckled at Warriors’ comment. Time breathed deeply out his nose, stopping his rhythm and instead gripping at the captain’s knees. A scarred hand rested over his and squeezed.
“Better now, Captain?”
Another squeeze.
“Thanks to you, old man.” He chuckled and stood up, joints clicking as he went, offering Warriors a hand and pulling the hero up.
“So-“
“Shut up. Don’t apologize, damn it.”
“Legend…”
“No, Wars. You had a completely valid reaction to something. Don’t go fucking apologizing for it.” The vet snapped, crossing his arms tightly. Warriors crossed the room and set a hand on the pink hair.
“…Nice to know you care, pricker bush.” His hand was a blur as he messed up the vet’s hair, who squeaked and batted at his arm.
Time watched as they laughed at the two’s antics, a small grin on his face.
Warriors wasn’t fully okay, his hands still held a slight tremble and his eyes still a tad too wide. But Time knew that with time (ha), and his brothers, that the captain would be as right as rain sooner than later.

I cant sleep so modern!linked universe hc time.
- Rusl buys Twilight a dna/ancestry thing for his 20th birthday.
- having been adopted into the Ordon family since the age of 15, the gift doesn't go over well at first.
-However after some deep conversations, Rusl explains that he promised Twilight birth parents that he'd do this if anything happened to them.
- Still Twilight procrastinates and after some cajoling from midna, finally does it a year later for his 21st birthday.
- at his party, a small family dinner at the Ordon home with Zelda, Illia and Midna in attendance, he lays the envelope on the table and says "before I open this, I want you all to know that what ever I find in here that you are all my family and I love you all."
- the first thing in the envelope is his genetic information, some basic stuff he already knows, some stuff he doesn't and somethings Zelda remarks he should see a doctor about. Apparently he's actually 65% Karariko as Renado predicted.
- the second thing is copies of his mother and father's Service Papers. Both served in the military; one as a murse and other as an officer. Both died of burns and smoke inhalation after rescuing several of their fellow tenants when the apartment above theirs caught fire.
- the third thing is a list of public records. His father was originally from Hateno and an only child save for a half brother who died a few years later. His mother, from kakariko, had two much younger siblings. Sheik and Link.
- while there are some records of a custody battle Shiek and Link were separated in the system after the death of their mother. There is an obituary written by Twilights mother with a picture of her and her three children. There's no further information about Link or Sheik.
- Until one last little page slips out, A wedding announcement from 10 years ago. Announcing the joyful union of Malon Lon and Link Kokiri. He's seen this before.
- in fact, Twilight sees this exact newspaper clipping framed in his old boss's office. He visits at least twice a month. He even jokes with him the it was the only proof the guy could actually smile.
- The Lon Lon Family owns their aptly named Lon Lon ranch but he reports to Malon's husband directly when it came to the horses. Especially Epona. He just saw the man last week, for crying out loud!
- He has an uncle. And he's already known the man for 5 years now. They thought it was just a funny coincidence that they had the same name.
- Illia says its fate. Zelda assures him that this can't be an accident. Midna presses his cell phone into his hands. Rusl tells him that its his decision and that they'll respect whatever that may be.
- He calls first, of course. He only works at the ranch on weekends these days anyway. It would be weird to just show up to his shift and just go "hey, do you know im your nephew?"
- he asks if Mr Kokiri would like to talk some time under the guise of needing some advice. Under all the grump and sarcasm, Kokiri really is a saint and easily says yes, asking if Twilight is okay since he sounds stressed.
- the next day, Twilight stumbles into his boss's office with all the papers in his hands.
- "if you need advice about school, you've come to the wrong place, kid."
"No...uh sir this ain't about school. Yet. But uh...do you recognize this picture?"
- he sets down the obituary with its photo of his mother, grandmother, Sheik and Link somewhere in Karariko. Kokiri studies it but otherwise seems clueless. "No, sorry, I dont."
- "Well according to these papers," Twilight sets them on the desk and spreads them out so he can see. "This is my mom. And this is you. Her brother. I think...I think you're my uncle."

I have a writing request. Fem reader, specifically.
Hear me out: LU Time is married to reader, and Malon is a friend or possibly reader's sister.
The rest of the chain meets reader. It can play out like the comic.
OR
Do you remember the scene where Time is introducing his Epona to Twilight? Reader is away from the ranch and comes back in the middle of that scene, singing Epona's song.
Either is fine. Love your writing! Whatever you do will be fantastic.
I haven't done many asks before, so I hope this is good enough!
Here's that specific section of the comic for reference for the Epona scene. It's the second panel in the sequence. https://www.tumblr.com/linkeduniverse/173981328449/about-linkeduniverse-part-2-of-0-1?source=share
I’m so soft for this but the the horse one specifically got my whole heart 🥺💕
Characters: Time x Fem!Reader
A/N+Warnings: N/A, safe for everyone. Written by Mishwanders - pls do not repost.
When the chain first found out that the old man was hitched, bets and guesses were laid in full on what type of woman would be willing to wife him up. Although Legend and Warriors were throwing around more playful banter towards Time’s way, Twilight found himself rather excited to meet his great-great-very great grandmother. He’d heard a lot about you from the moments he did have alone with his ancestor, seen some of the letters that had been given via Mr. Postman. So he knew exactly what type of person you were: kind, sweet, someone who easily melted down the old man’s tough exterior.
When they arrived at Lon Lon Ranch, the group was eagerly looking around for you, but Time knew they had arrived earlier than expected, and that you were off in Castletown, completing what business you had over there for Malon. So, instead, he and Malon both put the boys to work at the ranch, hoping that it would ease your mind a bit from the long list of tasks that they both knew constantly plagued your mind. Besides, Time found himself enjoying the suspense that was hanging amidst the group, noticing how they continued to watch the entrance anytime they passed by, waiting for you to arrive. In the meantime, Time wanted Twilight and his horse to meet his Epona, his other favorite girl.
Time approached the old mare with a mane white as snow, slowly reaching out towards the beautiful beast. She was quick to place her head closer to his hand, allowing him to pet her. Time smiled as he showered her with love, and a soft, “Hello there, sweet girl.”
Twilight watched his ancestor with awe at seeing how soft he was around the horse, seeing how much he cared about her, just as he had his own. “This your Epona?”
Time smiled back at him with a cheeky grin. “The one and only. She’s had her fair share of adventure with me in her years. Now she stays out in the field, enjoying her life. She even had a few foal’s of her own and they’re all just as wild as she is.”
It was a nice moment between them all, but Time noticed how Epona’s tail began to swish happily when the sound of a subtle and familiar song reached their ears, followed by the clop of hooves that were growing ever closer.
Time turned his attention towards the sound with a smile on his face when he caught a glimpse of you riding towards him, sitting atop your own stead. You had been humming Epona’s song as you made your way back onto the ranch, coming ever closer towards them. Time felt as if his heart was daring to burst out of his chest at the mere sight of you, at how the evening sun made your hair glow against the backdrop of the sky, how your smile only seemed to make you look even brighter.
“I can attest to that statement. Duke here was ready to bolt out the gate as soon as I put the saddle on him.” You replied, patting the younger horse you were saddled upon.
Time reached out to you, helping you down off of Duke. As soon as you put your feet on the ground, you wrapped your arms around his neck, pulling Time closer. His arm found its place around your waist, a hand at the base of your neck as he pulled you into a kiss that was so soft, yet so craving, it was hard for anyone (Twilight and the horses in this case) to deny the man’s undying love for you.
There was a moment of small whispered “I missed you’s” between the two of you before Time turned your attention to the young man watching on with a warm smile. From the moment you set your eyes on Twilight, you knew this was the young man that Time had mentioned in his letters to you - the same one that would become your grandson long down the line.
It didn’t take long for you to pull him into your arms too, squishing his cheeks together, asking him all sorts of questions (have you eaten? How hard has he been working you? Here’s 50 rupees-) because he was your kin, and you already adored him. Time couldn’t help but laugh at the sweet moment between you two, feeling a tug on his heart to see two people he cared about so much in this life meeting for the first time. He could see it in Twilight’s eyes - the sense of love and care. It was the same one you always had, it’s how he knew that Twilight was your descendant too.
Nothing could make him happier than this moment.
Because he got to share it with you.

some modern lu au (i need to figure out a shorter name for this) info while i wait for that poll!!
ages in this modern au so far (tentative to change, depending on if their gonna be bio or adopted brothers)
time is 27, warriors is 25, twilight is 23, nearly 24, sky is 21, hyrule is 18, wild and legend are 17, four is 15/16 (i haven’t decided yet), and wind is 14.
time is one of those older siblings that didn’t love the responsibility of the oldest so didn’t really act like the oldest or help around a lot when he was younger and as a result, warriors was sort of considered the oldest for awhile (wars sometimes jokingly refers to time as his younger brother)
when they were younger, (think like 4 and 6) warriors and twilight fought a lot over stupid things they would be the siblings that fought multiple times everyday but were completely fine again after a few minutes. (time swears that they fought more than the twins and that they were the troublemakers when they were all younger but none of the younger brothers believe them)
time is either gonna be dating or engaged to malon <3 (all the boys love her, though some were originally apprehensive)
the twins, wild and legend, are both the cooks in the family, though wild enjoys cooking more while legend enjoys baking. wild likes cooking more because it gives him more freedom to mess around and test different things out while legend likes baking because it tells you exactly what to do and when to do it.
the twins are basically the opposite of one another in that way, wild tends to just go wherever seems cool while legend likes to know exactly what to do and when to do it.
they both love hyrule to no end, if the twins had a fight more often than not you’ll find one of them with hyrule and the other with sky.
sky is dating sun, he (and his brothers) is childhood friends with her (and her younger sister dot). sky met sun at a playground when they were 5 or 6 years old where sky was too scared to go off a tall slide and sun pushed him down. they’ve been friends ever since.
four met for through sky and sun and they’re best friends. (totally platonic guys, sorry to the four/dot shippers)
wind is the subject of being babied by his brothers as the youngest. no matter how old he gets he will almost always be babied.
wind and tetra are friends, they are also rivals, but they would definitely punch a kid in the face for the other, no questions asked.
i wanna have wild and legend be autistic (most of them honestly), but i don’t wanna accidentally portray them wrong so i’m not completely sure on this yet, same with adhd. (if ya’ll have any tips i would love to hear them!!)
okie that’s it for now!!

Time After Time
Another commission! :D
Masterlist
They asked for Time but after LU.
Content under the cut!
You had an interesting relationship with the part time help at Lon Lon Ranch.
He was used to having you show up every now and then. Link looked forward to it. The conversations were rather short but well meaning and fun. He was happy to see you come around, gather up the stock and take it to town to sell for the Ranch. Talon had you full time while he was only there for a few days a week.
When he first joined the staff, he was a much younger man. And you were lovely. You were the first to approach him. The first to ask him his interests. It was then that he realized that he didn’t have an answer to your questions, such as, what his favorite color was or his favorite food. It was embarrassing for him, but you carried on, never making him feel guilty for his lack of normal upbringing. You never dug too personally but he felt like you cared about him.
As the years went by he managed to work up enough of his trademarked courage to approach you first. It couldn’t have been an everyday thing and some days were easier than others. But you made the morning worth looking forward to.
And then the portal opened and Link felt the call of the Hero’s Duty once more.
With a heavy heart, he goes to his home, as barren and lifeless as it is and collects his best gear. Link goes to Talon to explain the situation and why he’ll be missing work for an unknown amount of time. Malon cries but wishes him well.
He takes a breath as he walks away.
It’s your day off. He won’t be able to say goodbye.
Link leaves a note, in all its rudimentary glory. It’s not the greatest, nor does he think it’s enough. Link knows he is no longer the young man that could do flips and rolls and dodge quickly. There’s a high chance that there’s no coming back from this.
He leaves the ranch, and consequently Hyrule, behind.
Only to end up in another Hyrule entirely, with boys burdened with his same glorious purpose. A surge of protectiveness wells up within him and he vows that even if he can’t come back, they will.
The journey goes as he expects even if there were things he didn’t expect to meet along the way.
Satisfied, tired, and missing the boy’s antics already, he walks through the new portal and finds himself at home. Link swallows the knot in his throat the best he can- which is to way, not at all- and begins to take off his armor. It’s heavier this time around.
Link figures that he should go tell Talon that he’s back and ready to get back to work if his position is still available. He’s not looking forward to it and he doubts that he’ll be able to find work but maybe he can work something out with Talon. He’s known the man for many years, surely that can come to some agreement. Link still needs to get paid.
But that might have to wait until the morning. He’s tired.
The bed is freshly made and clean. Link doesn’t think too much about it as he collapses into it. He kicks off his shoes and buries his face into the pillow. Link calls asleep before he can even count to five.
And then the door opens and something falls to the floor.
Link lifts his head- mentally aware that his reaction time should be quicker than this, he can’t even reach his weapon- and looks toward the door.
“Link?” You whisper.
Oh, it’s just you, Link sags with relief and flops back into the pillow.
A moment passes and Link can feel himself falling asleep again.
Wait.
IT’S YOU!
Link jolts up and throws himself out of the bed. He’s still delirious and he’s stumbling over himself like a drunk man as he tries to approach you but you can’t go back to bed now. “Hey, hi, hello, I’m back. What is- How is- are-”
“Ok, ok, easy big guy.” You place your hands on his shoulders, steadying him. Link places his hands on your hips. He can’t help himself. He leans into you and tucks his face into the crook of your neck. You squeak and tense up. “Um! Link-!”
“I missed you.” He says with a thick voice. Link can feel himself getting emotional. He has no idea why you’re here but he didn’t realize just how much he missed you until you were right in front of him again. Link mentally thanks the boys wherever they are. They kept him distracted.
You tense up even more at his words but when he moves his arms around you and pulls you close, he can feel you relax and hug him back. Link’s heart lightens a bit with relief. Vaguely, he was aware that his hasty actions could ruin that precious, if ill established, relationship the two of you shared.
He takes a deep breath, taking a moment to take in your scent subtly before pulling away, repositioning his hands on your waist. Link clears his throat. “Sorry…”
“It’s alright.” You say quietly. “I missed you too.”
Link has so much to tell you. He doesn’t think you’ll believe any of it and yet the first person in his life, he thinks, that he actually wants to share it with. But he stumbles with the idea that you’re here… in his house…
“What are you-? Why are-? How did you find out where I lived?” Link settles for.
You shift your feet awkwardly, not looking him in the eye. Your hands rest on his arms and your face turns pink. If Link were a lesser man, he’d take advantage of this. But it’s too early.
“I asked Talon… and then I asked Malon when that proved to be worthless.” You huff and Link chuckles with it. You soften and rub little circles against his forearm with your thumbs. Link is losing his will power. This is dangerous.
“I.. didn’t know you lived like this.” You say in that quiet and thoughtful voice of yours. It sends Link’s heart into a frenzy- but he can bring himself to feel the shame that he lives so basically.
“It’s just me here… It works just fine.” He finds himself saying. A bit lonely at times but… maybe he could invest a bit more time here. Make a place to invite people over?
You hum at his answer. “I got your letter.”
Link’s heart stops.
You sigh and look up to his face at last. “You worried me. You made it seem like I’d never see you again.”
Link is hyper aware of the placement of the new scar across his lower back that could have ended a lot worse had he been alone. He gulps and rubs circles of his own against you. “It got close to be honest.”
Your face drops. “Don’t tell me that.”
“Sorry.”
You push yourself into his arms again, seemingly before you even notice that you’ve done it. “I tried to find you.” You say against him. “So I found your home, but you were already gone. And this place was filthy.”
“Sorry.” He repeats himself.
You hiccup and Link feels a small damp patch begin to form by his shoulder. “Don’t do that again.”
“Ok.” Link holds you more firmly, swaying a little as you both stand in the middle of his tiny cabin. “I don’t plan to, I promise.”
You nod. “Good. Or… I’ll never talk to you again, Link. I swear it.”
Your unprompted seriousness startles him into chuckles. Link nods. “Don’t do that. I’d miss you.”
You huff and hug him tighter. “Did you eat?”
He did not, in fact, eat anything since the morning he walked through the portal. But he doesn’t want you to know that.
His stomach betrays him.
You laugh and pull away to wipe your face. “I’m taking that as a no.”
Link curses in his head. “No… I couldn’t bring myself to do it.”
“...I brought lunch?” You offer hesitantly.
“Did you know?” Link raises an eyebrow. There’s no way you knew he was coming back so soon.
“I.. kept bringing food.” You kick the floor and avoid his gaze once more. Your face turns a bright red. Gorgeous.  “Just so you’d have something to eat when you’d get back.”
Link is touched. He might actually cry. “Well… I’d love to try it.”
You sigh with relief. “Good. Um… Here.”
You pick up the basket that was strewn across the floor. So that’s what fell. “I have fresh bread and some berries I know you like. There’s also some jerky and I put cooked potatoes into this container so they’re still warm.”
Link can’t help it anymore. He leans in to kiss your cheek, shooting his shot.
You shut up instantly.
Link pulls back. “Thank you.”
You bite your lip and shove the basket in his direction. “No prOblem. “ You clear your throat. “I have to go to work now but I’ll… let them know you’re back? So you can still have a day off before you show up?”
He smiles. “You’re too kind.”
“Um… Ok, yeah. I’ll do that then.” You turn to leave, almost running out of his home before you pause. Link has only just enough time to put the basket on his cleaned table (just how much work did you put into this bachelor’s shack?) before you practically run into him and kiss his cheek in return. “I’ve waited this long. I’ll wait some more….Okaygoodbye!”
Link looks out his window, stunned, and sees you pass as you finally make your way away from him and toward the Ranch.
His hand comes up to where your lips blessed him and he collapses into the chair under him.
Link’s hand moves the basket away from the edge of the table and it swivels to cover half of his face. His grin is the brightest it’s been in a long time. Link is very glad, for that moment, that the boys don’t see this.
He’d never hear the end of it.
But remembering his descendant’s face…. Link thinks that he has a chance to get what he wants. He thinks you both waited long enough. Link will talk to you tomorrow.

@hotcheetohatredwastaken yes, I will be tagging you every chapter. No, you are not getting out of it.
:)
Chapter two of my Hamilton x LU little writing thing I have going on! Featuring: Hyrule and Time talking about their pasts :)
This one is Hyrule centric :)👇
Hyrule strolled through the streets of downtown Castletown, scrolling on his phone with his right hand in his hoodie pocket. One of the best coffee cafes was down the road, and Hyrule had been dreaming of coffee for the last ten days. He’s been at rehearsal in and out, and he hadn’t had the chance to actually go somewhere and get a good coffee. Oh he loved coffee… the smell, the effect, the taste…
Soon he reached the cozy cafe, with a beaten wooden door and a handmade sign. The second he entered, the sweet smell of cinnamon and coffee grounds hit him. A young and accented voice came from behind the counter; “Welcome, dear! Take a good look at the menu and tell me when you're ready!”
Hyrule smiled and glanced up at the large menu above the counter filled with pastries. There were so many options. Yet, it was the blissful time of pumpkin spice, and nothing beats pumpkin spice. Soon after he decided, a bright head of red hair popped up from behind the wooden counters with a wide smile.
“What’ll it be, hun?”
With a small smile, Hyrule told her that he wanted a large pumpkin spice coffee. With an excited grin, the woman wrote down the order quicker than he could process.
“Hyrule? Is that you?”
Startled by hearing his name from the back, Hyrule poked up his head to peek behind the doors separating the front counter to the small room in the back. He saw a glimpse of spiky blonde hair, but didn’t get to see the rest.
“Time, hun, I told you to stop harassing the customers!” The woman scolded.
“Oh! Is Time back there? I didn’t know he worked here. I’ve always seen him at rehearsal.” Hyrule asked curiously.
“Oh my! Are you a part of that musi-“
“Yep! He’s Burr, hun.” Time came again, coming out with coffees on a platter, “Sorry. Malon always drags me along to the cafe. Nice seeing you, Hyrule.”
“And you too, Time. Is this your wife?”
“Yep, don’t tell Legend. He still thinks I’m not married.” Time handed Hyrule his coffee, chuckled, and sat down with him at a nearby table.
“Really? And I thought he was over with those dumb bets he always makes.” Hyrule frowned.
“Bah, who cares. It’s all for fun anyways.” Time waved him off, taking a sip of his own coffee. The place was relatively empty, most tables abandoned. There were wooden planks on the walls, painted with flowers and coffee beans. The counters were filled with all different types of pastries, from vegan strawberry toaster strudels to giant double chocolate muffins topped with chocolate chips. There were warmly lit lamps in every corner. And well, the only word that could describe this place was cozy.
“Do you and Mrs. Malon own this place? I love it.” Hyrule says in awe, smelling his warm coffee.
“Yeah, we bought it a couple years back. When we moved in here, we had nothing better to do, so we opened a little cafe.” Time smiles. “Then, I started doing Broadway again, and now we’re here. This is the first time I’ve been in the shop in ten days. I missed it.”
“By the way, I’ve been meaning to ask what got you into broadway. I’ve just graduated, so I needed something to do. I looked for something local, and I found it. What about you?”
“Well, I did theater in junior high and high school, back when. When I graduated, I took classes at a local community college. That’s where I met Malon. From there, I had been doing music lessons for kids. I was a genius, you could throw any instrument at me and I’d know everything about it.” Time laughed, “But now, I stopped doing lessons and got back into broadway. I think the music got me into it. I’ve always loved music, since I was younger than you.”
Hyrule stares at the table. “Yeah, since me and Legend basically grew up together, we bonded over music. That’s how we became so close, just bonding over the things we know best.”
“And I’m glad you did. I’m glad you didn’t bond over something stupid, like, like, cars or something.”
Both of them laughed that time, and Hyrule had the coffee he’d been dreaming of for the last ten days. They had been given break for this weekend, the cold of the winter starting to creep in as autumn started to fall behind. Rehearsals had been taking up most of their time. Some days, Hyrule wished he didn’t have to go due to the slow weather and traffic. But when he got there, he didn’t regret it. The friendship between him and the a actors and actresses accompanying him would grow more and more, No doubt.
He was going to love this musical.

Febuwhump 2024, Day 19: Twi, Time, Shade (Chain) - “Please Don’t”
Fandom: LOZ/Linked Universe
Consequences on not telling Time the full truth was lurking in the woods between Twilight and Time's eras. Pulling Time to the side to tell him of the Hero's Shade, there's an attack on camp, forcing the secret to come out in the worst way.
CW: blood, injury, language, self sacrifice
Apparently I have a pattern of hurting Twilight in some kind of way when Shade enters a story.
“Guys, wake up. Anyone know this place?” Legend asked as he and Wild sat around the cooking pot. They had just shifted while most of them were asleep.
Twilight looked around curiously. “It feels familiar, but too young to be my era. Time, is it yours?”
The Old Man took a deep breath in, scanned across the new forest, then let out his breath. “Feels too old to be mine. Could be in a between era.”
Twilight blanched at that. That could be the worst thing to happen since that meant Sh- Nope, he was over thinking it too quickly. “Did either of you scout out around here?”
Wild kept stirring, but pointed in a direction. “Yeah, there’s a road about half a mile from here. Seemed to be well used, but it was too early in the morning for people to be using it.”
“I’ll go see if anyone is there now.” Twi tried to stand to make his way to the road, but Wild swiftly pointed his ladle at him with a fierce look.
“After. Breakfast.” The steely look had Twilight consciously sitting back down like a good boy. He was not going to piss off his Cub when it came to everyone being fed. A few others snickered and giggled and all got the same look from Wild. He really could be terrifying.
Wild made a feast of a meal for them: Crepes, oatmeal, omelets, toast, honey and nut fruit and of course an assortment of drinks that everyone liked. Even with the great smelling food in hand and a hungry stomach, Twilight was having issues forcing the food down.
Thankfully his own mentor had mercy on him. “Come on, you're too antsy and it’s killing me to see.”
The unknown bad choice of words could have made Twilight run for the trees to bring everything back up, but then he wouldn’t have been allowed to leave camp. Instead he put on his normal clothes, sword on his back, then waited as Time finished putting on his armor.
The walk was silent outside of Twilight’s heart pounding in his ears and the birds singing in the trees. That was until Time broke the silence. “Alright Pup, what has you so worked up?”
“I don’t know what you mean.”
“I know you are lying and hiding something. You get the same crease in your forehead Malon does. Spill it.” Time grabbed the young man’s shoulder, bringing them both to a stop.
Twilight took several long breaths to calm himself and to figure out the words. “This is going to be hard to tell you, specifically you.”
“Harder than telling me that we are related, can shapeshift and that I somehow trained you in my future?” Time gave a half amused smile.
Oh if he only knew… “Yes.”
Time straightened up, full attention on his descendant. “I’m listening.”
“I didn’t tell you the full truth of how you ended up training me in the future.” Why did he have to do this now?! “You didn’t time travel to my era to train me.”
“How can that be if we are an unknown hundred of years apart?”
“Just… When we met, you weren’t exactly al-” A howl nearby stopped him short. His eyes blew wide.
Time grabbed the hilt of his sword. “Wolfos?”
“N-no” Twilight spun around. “I know that howl.”
Paws making contact with the forest floor could be heard getting closer, making Twi’s heart nearly leap from his chest. A flash of gold had Twilight racing for it.
“Pup, wait!” Time was no spring cucco, but he kept up with the younger.
Twilight zig-zagged through the trees, catching the briefest amount of gold and white. “Shade, wait up!” he hollered, but the wolf stayed out of sight. When he no longer could see where he went nor could hear him, Twilight stopped.
Time stopped with him, slightly panting. “Friend of yours?”
A yip had both men’s heads turning. Standing a few feet away was the wolf in all his golden glory. Twilight knelt down move eye level, “Are you going to just sit there or are you going to get over here and say hi?”
A few bounding steps later and the wolf had his front legs draped over Twilight’s shoulder. Shade rubbed his head against the other’s neck, giving slight whines as if saying he missed him. There were a few licks to Twilight’s hairline before the Hylian stood up, wolf still hanging on his shoulders, showing that he was taller than the younger.
“Pup, you are aware that he is a spirit, right?” Time asked, eyeing the giant wolf carefully.
“I know, but how do you know?”
Time opened his white eye, pointing to the marked side of his face. “He sees all.”
That gave a chill down Twilight’s spine. “Did he tell you who Shade is?”
“No, he only gave an all too delighted laugh.”
Shade’s ears perked up and did a slight swivel. A low baritone grumble came from his chest. He pushed off of Twilight’s shoulder and seemed to be tuning into whatever he was hearing. Twilight closed his eyes, filtering out the noises around him to get a longer range.
There was metal clashing, hollering and the screeching of monsters. “Ambush… Camp!” Twilight and Shade bolted in the direction of the others, Time right behind them.
When the two heroes broke into the clearing of camp they saw seven heroes all armed and surrounded by a mix of different era’s monsters. Giving a gruff-snarl, Shade led the attack as he literally dove into the horde. The action had Legend screaming like a kit and Twilight was not going to let that slip away later.
The camp turned into a bloodbath as more and more monsters swarmed in from all sides. It wasn’t an impossible fight, just one that they weren’t prepared for since most of them were still in their night clothes.
Twilight made sure to keep an ear out for everyone, especially Shade. Not everyone would right away think ‘Friend’ when seeing a red eyed wolf covered in blood. He knew first hand how badly that could go, seeing that he went through that exact thing after his adventure, forgetting that Ordon hadn’t been told yet of his ability to shift and they already had nightmares from when the children were taken and a wolf had been stalking around that time. That wolf had been him, but he was there to protect, not harm. They didn’t know and he paid the price. He would never blame them either.
Somehow in the fray Twilight became overrun with monsters and was brought down to his knees. His sword was ripped from him while at the same time a heavy foot flattened him onto his back. One of Wild’s silver Moblins was pressing its weight against his chest, club high in the air. The monster roared and Twilight matched it, but not out of fear. Twilight roared in defiance.
He didn’t know how it happened, but he knew why and when it happened. The fight unexpectedly turned, drawing the attention of the monsters to someone else. That someone else was Shade, but the wolf was now the skeleton Twilight had been trained by.
He stood tall as a fully armored in gold metal, sword drawn, single red eyed stalfos. To the rest of them, this would seem to be a Boss Stal that happened to be out in the open. He locked his gaze on his descendant and made his way over in large strides, ignoring fights around him.
As Warriors went to be the first to strike, Twilight hollered, “Wait!”
Shade caught the blade’s edge with his metal covered hand. He didn’t strike back, only shoved the captain away. Time was at his backside, sword already slashing at his side and it forced him towards Warriors who tried again to land a hit. With the power behind Time’s swings, Shade had to pull his weapon, but to defend himself.
It was irrational for Twilight to think something could happen to the Hero’s Shade as if he could be more dead, but he was not going to risk the chance of talking to his mentor again after everything. He didn’t think he could handle seeing metal and bones fall to the dirt. And what would happen if they did? What would happen to Twilight as a baby since Shade was the one to care for him in the woods before leaving him at Rusl and Uli’s door? Would Twilight still win against Ganondorf?
Would Twilight fail the legacy Time started? He would damn himself, but not the legacy created by a child who held the weight of the world on his shoulder yet still died with regret. He could never.
Twilight’s mind screamed for his original mentor. ‘No! Please, don’t! How can you not see who he is?!’
With everything happening so quickly, the Moblin holding Twilight down had looked away, foot relaxing some on his chest. The monster was still big, but Twilight just twisted his body enough to get a shot with his foot to the things jambags. It worked to his surprise. Sword in hand, the Moblin’s head fell to the ground.
Twilight looked up at Shade who was deflecting Warriors and Sky while Time readied another deadly blow. With his mind still irrationally thinking, Twilight ran to stop the fight, but it was about to be too late. He wasn’t going to make it.
Time had his Biggoron Sword thrusting forward and Twilight knew the other was too far into the motion to stop, so he did the one thing he could think. He just prayed that Time would forgive him if he survived.
“Shade!!” Twilight was one more step away.
The Stal turned around to his name being called, his eye locked onto Twi and the sword headed now for both of them. It was all in slow motion.
The Ordonian had no fear as he jumped that last step, flinging his arms over the golden armored skeleton into the resemblance of a hug. At the same moment Time’s blade was run through Twilight’s back, coming out his chest and imbedding into Shade’s chest plate. Twilight sucked in a stuttered and pained breath, sagging into the boney arms that wrapped around him as they both fell.
The sword jossiled as they landed, Twi on top, and he screamed at pain that slowly subsided as he went into shock. He looked between them, grabbed the blade and stood, removing the tip from the other. Twilight swayed on his feet as the battle continued around him, hands now bleeding from the sharp edge he was still holding onto and now pushing out of himself until he heard it clatter onto the ground behind him. Straightening up, he mouthed an apology to his former mentor before he couldn’t hold himself up anymore, going to his side.
Shade was up and holding Twilight in his arms before he hit the ground again. He looked around at his old companions seeing that there were many of them injured and Hyrule was going to be needed for those. He only had one choice and he wouldn’t fail or so help him he would fight every damn goddess and god there was! He laid the boy on the ground, trying to ignore the sounds of him sucking in breath and blood into his lungs. Shade placed his hands on the ground drawing in only as much magic as he needed. The grass around him shriveled and died as they gave their essence to him. Muscle and flesh formed under his armor though his clothes stayed tattered and torn.
Feeling his body reformed, he removed his broken helmet, throwing it to the side. He didn’t care how many enemies were left or who was now jaw dropped at the sight of who he was, what he had become. He didn’t care about the shock his younger self was still in. All he cared about was his Pup. Tearing the boy's tunics open more to access the wound, Shade saw how dire the situation really was and honestly Twilight should have already died from it.
With his death, Shade didn’t just become the Hero's Shade. The Lost Woods had granted him the power to protect the forest, to give and take life inside of it. That didn’t mean only for the things inside the forest originally, but the people who entered with ill intentions too. He was a deity in a different form than the one inside the mask he carried when alive. He placed a hand over the wound and one on the ground. He pulled magic from every living thing outside of the last few monsters and the boys. The tree’s bark rotted as the leaves turned brown. The grasses grew dry, critters that hid in the ground were consumed as well. It physically hurt him to do this, but he promised to restore it all.
Looking over his shoulder he shouted, “Leave some of the monsters alive! Restrain them!” To give life was to take life. Different shades of green magic swirled over his hand touching the ground, absorbing it, then releasing it into the boy’s chest. Twilight thrashed as the magic worked to stitch him back up.
“Twilight!!”
“Wild no!” Time went to grab Wild by his belt, barely making it to him when Shade’s hand swiped from the ground, upwards. Deep underground roots sprang up, blocking the Cub from getting too close.
“If you get too close, the magic will jump to you and I can’t afford that, not when he is barely alive.”
“What happened?” Hyrule asked.
“I- he-”
“No point in pointing fingers when what is done is done and even more so when it was no one's fault.” Shade snapped.
Twilight stopped moving, stopped breathing, heart nearly a flutter if that. His eyes were open, but no light shined in those blues.
“Come on Pup, take a breath, just one.” Shade closed his eyes and with a yell, pulled an extreme amount of magic from his surroundings. The trees snapped in half, forcing the boys to move closer so as to not be crushed. Shade gave away some of the magic he had used to bring himself back, revealing the wounds he had received during his final battle, including the fatal gash that went all the way across his midsection.
He could feel the wound closing the last bit all the way through and he pushed it slightly over to where his boy’s heart was lying still in his chest. Knowing that he was draining near his limit, he raised his left hand from the ground, raised it up in the air and swiftly slammed the magic overtop of where Twilight’s heart was.
“BREATHE!!”
Twilight’s eyes shot open, back arched off the ground, mouth drawing in gurgled air. Shade turned him to his side where the younger began to heave, globs of blood spewing onto the dirt before being turned back over.
“You irresponsible child! I kept you alive from the age of one up until I could teach you everything I knew, past fighting Ganon and this is the shit you do?! What were you thinking?!” He gave the boy a shake, wanting to knock some sense into him. All he got was a bloody smile. “Why are you smiling?”
“I missed you.”

LUtober Day 26: Camp
See the full collection on AO3.
Camp Lon-Lon had been a fixture on the shores of Lake Hylia for years. Time was sent to the camp when he was young, and it helped shape him into the man he was now. It’s also where he met Malon, whose family founded the camp to give disadvantaged youth a place where they can find themselves.
Now, as a way to give back, and to spend more time with Malon, he was back at the camp as a counselor and had a cabin of boys from various backgrounds to watch over.
He’d never admit it out loud, but this batch of boys was the best group he’d ever had. They were all very different, but they’d formed a bond that Time never would have expected considering their backgrounds.
He opened the door to Cabin 3 and took in the sight before him. Two rows of two sets of bunk beds, older boys on the bottom bunks and younger boys up top.
Warriors was trying to get Legend’s nose out of the book he was reading; Wind and Four were up on the former’s bunk with a flashlight trying to make elaborate shadow puppets; Wild was hanging over the side of his bunk, holding a flashlight half under his chin and making faces at Twilight, who was trying not to laugh, but failing miserably; Sky was listening as Hyrule very physically told the story of how he’d gotten lost on the nature hike earlier.
“Alright boys, time for lights out.”
“What about flashlights?” Wind asked.
“Flashlights too.”
A chorus of awwwws came from the three actually playing with them, while the others begrudgingly got under covers and settled in for the night.
“Got a hot date or something, Old Man?” Warriors asked with a smirk.
“Boy, that nickname never gets old, Wars,” Time said as he tossed a pillow at the boy’s head. “It’s a big day tomorrow, everyone needs a good night’s sleep if you’re going to do the camp relay.”
Sky groaned from under his pillow. “Why isn’t there a napping contest?”
“Because that’s no fun!” Wild exclaimed as he remained hanging upside down from his bunk.
“Wild, you are not a keese,” Time said as he flipped the boy back onto his bunk, who giggled and flopped back onto his pillow before nearly screeching as Twilight nudged the bed above him with a foot.
Time continued down the row of bunks. “Hyrule, you’re not going to wander off tonight, right?”
“I solemnly swear,” he started before lowering his voice, “because Legend said he won't come find me if I get lost and it’s not his fault if I get eaten by a bear.”
“It’s not!” Legend said.
“I’ll tell you a secret, Rulie,” Time said, whispering “Legend would never let a bear eat you.” Hyrule’s smile could have lit the whole cabin.
Finally, all his campers settled,Time turned off the light before retreating to his separate bedroom. He closed the door and paused to listen. Whispers and giggles and shushes came from the other side.
Time could put a stop to it, but decided against it. The boys will find out tomorrow how important sleep is before a full day of physical activity.

Personal interpretation of Link-Zelda relationships:
SkSw - Sky/Sun : Best friends to lovers (literally canon XD) They grew up together, Sky had been the first to fall in love.
MC, FS - Four/Dot : Relatives! Smith is Four's grandpa, but also Dot's uncle (he had a much younger sister, Dot's mother). In the Italian version of MC, Smith is both the uncle of Four and Dot (this implies he had 2 siblings who are Dot's mother and one of Four's parents). since Smith is internationally Four's grandpa, I left him like this while being Dot's uncle too. Four and Dot are as close as siblings!
OoT, MM - Time/Lullaby : Sibling relationship! They couldn't see each other at first. Lullaby blamed him for not having helped them despite being the hero of their prophecy, and every time Time tried to meet them and discuss they would end up arguing. Time decided to get away and stop trying until Malon arrived and fixed everything as she was close friends with Lullaby and loved Time. Time and Lullaby then became like siblings!
TP - Twilight/Dusk : Friends to interest. They were friends as kids, got eventually separated, and then met again during TP after about 10 years. They didn't get as close as when they were kids so fast, but bonded thinking about Midna, the adventure, and Time
HW - Warriors/Artemis : Allies to interest. Wars has had a thing for Artemis since he had seen her the first time as a young recruit. Artemis found him interesting. After the events of the game Wars was traumatized and needed time, so they began hanging out without getting into serious stuff.
BotW - Wild/Flora : Friends? After BotW they went on a journey to help rebuild their Hyrule. They started off as acquaintances and became friends then... people started asking if they were a couple but they kept saying no...but someone saw them kissing
AlttP, OoS, OoA, LA, AlbW, TFH - Legend/Fable : Twins! They're step siblings with the same father, but they were born the same day of the same year, and they totally forgot they have different mothers. They love each other so much! They keep teasing each other as a form of affection.
Z1, Z2 - Hyrule/Dawn/Aurora : Sibling relationship: Aurora is a kid and after she "lost" her older brother (she doesn't consider hom family at all now) she grew close to Hyrule at the point she asked him to be her new big brother. Hyrule accepted without esitation, he's legally her big brother now (and thus a prince), while Dawn didn't use formalities and isn't as close as Aurora for Hyrule, she acts like the eldest of 3 siblings!
WW, PH - Wind/Tetra : Friendly rivals to an unlikely couple! The words of the king made them think about spending time together, while exploring the sea to find a new land. While still keeping their personalities, the two think they wouldn't be bad as a couple!
ST - Tracks and Angel : Literally canon couple like Skyward Sword XD What else can I say!

Hello Beautiful Beasties!
Smut-tember 23, Day 9: Time x Malon - "Daddy"
Summary: Cute nicknames for you spouse is, well, cute. But there is a name that Malon calls Time that dives him crazy in the best of ways. The boys are never going to let it down.
Word count: 944
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Every couple had cute nicknames for each other: Sweetheart, Darling, Love, Hun, Honey-Love, Sugar, Babe, Baby, ect. It is all sweet and endearing to call someone by those names, but Malon found a nickname for Link shortly after they got married that had an effect on him she didn’t expect.
She used this single word nickname only during specific times. The moment she would whisper it in Link’s ear she was racing off to be just out of arm's reach of him. A game of chase through the barn, yards, the house and would end in the bedroom with her on her back, calling out that nickname while Link plunged deep into her.
That nickname hadn’t been able to be used lately since for the last eight months, every time Link, Time , has been home, eight young men and boys have been with him. An opportunity did present itself one morning after breakfast when Talon, Malon’s father, came to stop by. Talon had all the new boys’ attention as he told stories of when Malon and Time first met. Malon and Time stayed in the background in the kitchen, having a rare moment alone. Time kissed her neck, soaking in his wife after being gone longer than he liked. With each breath drawn in that held her scent (alfalfa, honeysuckles and something he has always related to the warmth of the sun) he was gaining back his sanity.
They swayed as if dancing, holding each other close, her back to his front. She turned her head and stole a slow kiss to his lips. He kept her chin pointed up by a gentle hand under it, not wanting her lips to go anywhere else but where his were. Of course, like always, the kiss deepened and Malon clung to the arm that was still wrapped around her. They hadn’t noticed that Talon was done with the stories and the others were now coming back to the kitchen. A cough from Legend had them reluctantly separating, eyes filled with lust, hearts pounding.
Talon was used to the two's show of affectionate, acting like he saw nothing. “I’m headed into town, won’t be back until tomorrow afternoon. It was a pleasure to meet you boys and I hope you stay safe out there. Keep my son-in-law out of trouble.” The younger heroes all said their goodbyes and laughed at the idea that Time could get in trouble since he was always the one to avoid it.
“Bye Dad, I’ll see you when you get back.” Malon waved to him.
Talon gave a fake sad sigh, “Boys, if any of you ever have a daughter, don’t ever let them grow up. From the age that they learn to talk they call you Daddy, then suddenly you are just called Dad. It is a sign of them being all grown up. Anyhoo, enjoy your stay. Goodbye Link, goodbye Dear.” Talon closed the door behind him as he walked out of the house.
Hyrule sat at the table with a spark of curiosity. “Why do daughters stop calling their fathers that?”
Malon giggled as she stepped away from Time. Time groaned because he knew what was coming. He was never going to hear the end of it. “Because we find someone else to call Daddy."
Time laid his head down on crossed arms on top of the counter. Why must she do this to me?
"Isn't that right, Daddy?"
Warriors and Legend caught on first while Malon took a few more steps away from her tortured husband. Wars grabbed Wind, spinning him quickly around towards the door. "I'm sure there's something for all of us to do outside."
Legend grabbed the front of Hyrule's tunic, pulling him from the chair. "You had to ask."
Twilight snagged Sky and Wild who were blushing at the realization of Malon's words. "I don't want to hear this or what comes next. Move!!"
Four was somehow the first out the door.
Time didn't give much time after Four swung the door open before he sprang from his spot. Malon gave a playful scream and darted up the steps to the second floor. Time caught her half way up and threw her over his shoulder, marching into the bedroom, slamming the door closed. He sat her on her feet, hiking her skirt up and went to pull her panties to the side, only to realize that she had none on. Someone was planning this, he thought with a grin, but still teased her already moist entrance. Time barely had the chance to removed his trousers to free himself when his wife threw a leg over his hip, clinging to his shoulders.
They were acting like newly weds who couldn't get enough of each other. Especially when Time lifted Malon into his arms, pressed her against the wall and began to make her call out the name he loved to hear roll off her lips. She shoved them away from the wall, causing Time to trip over his own clothes, landing on the bed behind him. Laughter filled the home and it would have been nice to hear Time's care free laughter, but "Daddy" still range clear above all else as a reminder of what was actually going on.
Outside, far enough away that Twilight's wolf-like hearing couldn't hear, the heroes busied themselves. Hyrule was beyond confused and Legend was on the verge of needing to have The Talk with him as they picked apples together. "Wait, I'm not understanding. Why did Mrs. Malon call Time, Daddy? Is she pregnant?"
"If she wasn't before this morning, she might be after what they are doing now."
Keep it Naughty you Beautiful Beasties!🖤
