Have you tweaked the character from canon? If so, what did you tweak? TELL ME ABOUT ISIS
Canon Questionnaire
We're getting lengthy in here so enjoy my rant under the cut.
Okay WELLLL how do I put this gently.
Yu-Gi-Oh does a lot of showing and not telling but the characterization for non-main characters is so all over the place or non-existent that we don't get shown a lot of the reasoning behind their behavior.
Isis, in canon, is a kind, wise, and compassionate woman who has strong maternal instincts and is a firm believer in destiny. We don't get told or shown much outside of that. We see only the sides that she wants us to see. Her role is minimal; a plot point to pull the readers along and help show why Malik is a redeemable character despite everything he's said and done to the protagonists.
Now, we do see an inkling of why she is this way. She bore witness to Yami Malik murdering their father. She was the one who indirectly caused this in the first place by letting Malik see the outside, despite it being a cardinal sin within the Ishtar clan. And you want me to believe this didn't affect her in any way?
I wanted a more realistic Isis Ishtar. An Isis Ishtar who has to feel and deal with the ramifications of her actions every day. An Isis Ishtar who tries to be the glue that holds them together. An Isis Ishtar who is working to fix her past mistakes and patch her strained relationship with her family, especially Malik. He's her baby brother; she was supposed to protect him and she couldn't even do that. Was that what destiny had intended? To be the catalyst of Malik destroying himself in a fruitless effort to purge the pharaoh for something he was never a part of? No. Destiny be damned; she will be the one to save Malik. And she manipulated Seto to do it.
If she just wanted him to have that card, she could've just mailed it. But no, she needed make this personal. Plant a seed in him that is too tempting to refuse. She knew Seto would want any opportunity to win back a paltry title from the pharaoh; the tauk told her that. Wherever the pharaoh is, Malik is sure to follow. And that was her prime target. She wasn't expecting to lose to Seto, sure, but in the grand scheme of things, that didn't matter. What mattered was saving her baby brother from himself. He fulfilled his part of her plan; what came after was of no concern.
Like are we gonna ignore that Isis Ishtar is a master manipulator without needing an item? Like they're both good at using others to get what they want; Isis is just more subtle about it. Did she feel bad? Sure. But it was a necessity to protect the only thing that matters: her family.
Also like consider: you think that because Isis Ishtar spent so much time orchestrating this entire thing, from building her career up, FROM SCRATCH, to become Secretary General of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities to organizing the exhibit at Domino Museum for the explicit purpose of manipulating Seto into setting up Battle City that it kinda spiraled into control issues just like Malik but for wildly different reasons. Just A Thought.
tl;dr: realistic isis who feels the consequences of her actions and still struggles to rebuild her family and probably has some control issues (also sorry seto lol) > cardboard cutout isis

I just came on here to share something of note related to my job that I felt was somewhat relavent to fandom. I don't tend to like to reveal too much about my personal life on here especially as it relates to my job since I don't necessarily want anything irl connecting back to me on here so I'll keep this very, very general but I currently work for a nonprofit that centers around a very specific subfield within an acronym of the STEM umbrella. Most of what we do involves public outreach and education on that specific field through online articles, videos, magazines/journals, and events, etc. (as well as helping fund research, grants, and mentorships/job opportunities for people in the field, particularly of underrepresented groups).
Anyways I'm saying all this to say that today I saw we'd made arrangements to pay for media training for a few of our more higher up volunteers to help prep them for media interviews and to be good brand ambassadors for our org. The training includes things like reviewing talking points and going over sample interviews and interview tips and is expected to encompass at least a couple of hours per person. We dropped well over 10k on this expense. And this is all just for a few VOLUNTEERS for a relatively small nonprofit org in a very specific subfield/subject. Like I said we're a non-profit so we're obviously not just in this for the money or the good PR it may bring, even if we do still realize that those things are integral to our success as an org. And yet we still dedicated a sizable chunk of money and time to this endeavor for people who are not even technically employed by us. I just want y'all to let that sink in for a second and think about how much the scale of that extrapolates to ppl like celebrities doing what they do on the world stage.
Imagine how much more intense and in-depth something like media training gets when you/your image is literally the brand you're acting as ambassador for, and a shit ton of ppl behind the scenes all have their own stake in your success as a brand in the particular image/version of you (accurate or not) they want portrayed. now imagine you're a young impressionable child being made to sit through potential hours of mock interviews, being drilled with questions and "appropriate" talking points and the like until the ppl in charge of you are satisfied (tbh it's not hard to see how/why rebecca ferguson described it as akin to being brainwashed), and being foisted with all that responsibility/pressure in every single thing you do or say in front of a camera. Is it any wonder that you might eventually get to a point where you just paste on a smile and say/do whatever you're told to like a wind-up robot playing along with the role you've been given even to your own detriment (liam)? Or that you might get to a point where you just stop wanting to do almost any interviews at all cause you're sick of being party to all the fakery and bullshit (z@yn)? It's two sides of the same coin but both could very much be read as a trauma response
Anyway I just needed to rant a bit cause the stuff with work brought all this to the forefront of my mind and it forever infuriates me to no end that people still don't see (or don't want to see) how much of what we're shown and/or told is fabricated in the name of staying on brand for whatever version of their image a celebrity may be trying to sell in that moment

(warning, LOONGG late night rambling post)
ok, so you know about Yume Nikki Online? that really good online multiplayer hub hosting both the original game and a collection of fangames? i feel like that idea could apply really well to OFF and its fangames too! and i got the perfect name for it, OFFline.
i imagine it can go with a similar premise of YNO but just allow people to talk and gather around in OFF-related games. but i see a lot of potential for OFFline to include some kind of PvP-dedicated fangame, which I'll call Engage. which, with how many ideas i have for it, might be best to not make in EasyRPG.
the basic idea i have in mind is that there's a central hub where people can just chat and hang out which has three divisions:
Versus
Team Battle
Arcade, subdivided into Campaign and Endless.
Tumblr media
what all of these modes have in common is a shopkeeper. it'll probably be better to make them an original character, but basically, for Versus and Team Battle, at the beginning of a match, you're given a set amount of credits to purchase from a list of items, weapons, and armor. for consistency's sake, i think its best that certain items are locked for certain characters only (say, no one else can use weapons and armor for Home characters), but healing and damage items are fair play for all.
whoever hosts a room will be able to dictate which select fangame they'd wish to fight in (as in, which cast of characters both users must use), OR decide that anything goes and both users are free to make the party of their dreams (its also here that they'd be free to select which battle theme plays).
Versus mode is between two players, who have full control of their own parties. while Team Battle is a 4v4, where each player will have control over their selected party member.
as for Arcade, its basically just singleplayer fun; the intent is that with the large amount of enemies and bosses from the multitude of fangames present, it will bring something different each time via randomizer. Campaign i would describe as being similar to Smash 3DS's Classic Mode, where you're given 3 branching paths with varying difficulties. the more difficult ones you beat, the more credits you earn, where you can make a pitstop before each boss to stack up (with zodiac orbs being pricier). referring to the sketch above, yellow cubes are enemy encounters, red cubes are bosses, and purple is for the end-game boss (the final boss from the og game/fangame, if applicable). i figured that every 3rd or 4th encounter being a boss will help prevent the gameplay from being monotonous beatdowns of regular enemies. you'll get choices for enemies and bosses, but there's only one endgame boss and that's random each time.
and lastly, Endless mode is just that. this time, you're given a larger supply of credits to use and once you enter the first round, there's no going back. each round will supply a minute amount of health or energy items to use, but will progressively get more difficult. my hope here is that it isn't just more enemies each round, but for it to sometimes bring fewer but beefier enemies, and maybe even a miniboss. you progress through each round by clicking on the individual cube labeled with the appropriate number. i figured like this it'd be more reasonable to fit within RPG2k3's limits but at this point it would be bloated so oh well. and of course, once you die, it ends. a public leaderboard will be on display to show the top 10 players and their scores.
now to get the obvious out of the way, online functionality with this many features would be difficult, if not impossible, to implement. as such, i would not be opposed to taking an approach similar to the UT fangame Don't Forget, where OFFline will be developed on an engine like Gamemaker and attempt to re-create RPG2k3's vibe and the individual games being hosted, along with Engage. the problem with the latter is that i think its more realistic to just let EasyRPG do all the work in porting the fangames like YNO, rather than recreate each one in a more modern engine. but at the same time, that would be the only feasible way of having any of these planned features to work without any fuckups. of course, i suppose a workaround to having multiplayer work in RPG2k3 would be to have a Parsec session or something similar, but that'd only be a solution for Versus mode at best. it would definitely not work for Team mode and might conflict with general offline.
in fact, the idea of OFFline might take some mad wizardry to even make it work, and i wouldn't be surprised if it barely works. making it in EasyRPG and using 2k3 as the basis vs. making it in a modern engine is the double-edged sword of this whole hypothetical. i'd love for something like this to happen, but i imagine it would be too much work to not only develop, but to keep the servers online for an otherwise niche fanbase. still, i cant shake away how much potential and fun this could be.
with that said, rambling is now over!

#vegas is doing an excellent job of walking that line#it's his only positive one so it makes you wonder where he picked up this kind of nurturing behavior from#(WHERE is the MOM BACKSTORY!!!!!) i can never get enough of your tags, even when it's you talking about eating wall paint or being pushed under a train because same. but also, these tags make me think that vegas and pete will be fine in the grand scheme of things because vegas still has that nurturing side? he still knows how to treat someone he loves because of macau, and now, when vegas is set on 'you are no longer my pet, you are the most important person in my life'??? aaaaaa, i am not okay.
(the post in question)
awww anon thank you i am glad someone enjoys my morning tag rambles 💜
but also, anon, YOU ARE EXACTLY CORRECT.
it is really hard to learn how to love someone! and it's much much harder if you have no idea how it's done, and what your partner might need from you. vegas has probably never been in romantic love with anyone before pete, and he has no healthy frame of reference for what that kind of relationship should be like, because he's never seen one up close. frankly, if i were vegas, i would see all the shit going down around me and wash my hands of any sort of romance (which, like. maybe he did do that. 😔)
but vegas's saving grace — his tie to humanity, his one existing relationship where he both gives and receives love — is with macau. so even if he doesn't know how to love pete, he does know how to love macau, and to respect him, and take care of him.
so here's this soggy wet paper bag of a man who has no idea what he's doing, only knows that he wants to keep pete happy. and he's only ever kept one other person in his life genuinely happy, so i bet he's just going to try all that stuff for pete too.
i see vegas cooking for pete in the safehouse, and i think about a young vegas standing on a kitchen stool in the dead of night, trying to cook something for a tiny macau who couldn't sleep and is very hangry about it, and then i think about vegas making sure pete is well-fed for the rest of his life. i see vegas pulling pete's head onto his lap in the hospital, immediately pulling macau in too — casually dropping a kiss on macau's forehead and then immediately repeating that for pete like it's nothing, like he's done that to pete a thousand times before.
and i think, yeah. vegas is suuuuper fucked up. but he does know how to love. the rest is just details, and they're gonna figure it all out just fine.

Reframing common employer phrases into plainspeak
Laziness = poor ppl resting/playing, ever
Working vacation = rich ppl getting paid to rest/play
Rage applying = looking for a better job
Rage quitting = leaving toxic job/boss
Quiet quitting = refusing to do free labor
Blackmail = employees leveraging anything
Insubordination = talking about pay at work
Company culture = guilt trips & pizza as pay
Morality clause = make us look bad, get fired
"We're like family" = "we ask for favors, then never pay you back"

GUYS I NOTICED SOMETHING IN PSYCHONAUTS 2
It may or may not be just me imagining things BUT,
Raz's first reflex when being seen in his underwear isn't to cover his crotch (unlike what the interns think; see picture below)
Tumblr media
his first instinct is actually to cover HIS CHEST
Tumblr media
(thx @portalcartoon for the screenshot!- he also does this when Sasha and Otto sees him in his underwear)
so yeah, even tho it's very likely that it's just a weird detail about him, my trans ass interprets this as Raz being a baby trans boi
thank you for coming to my TEDtalk

A while back I made a post about how I just. Can't imagine the Akashi siblings with another eye color than green and how me and my friend won't stop arguing bc she like the idea they're blue best. Then there had been two reblogs/comments: 'ocean eyes' and 'heterochromia'
Problem being, three siblings all having heterochromia is.. rather rare I'd say – but then again, it's fiction, who cares. So real the problem being, I can't imagine them with complete heterochromia. Too much blue, don't like it, don't think it fits.
But. Sectoral heterochromia, now that, I can see. Bc it looks dope af too
(Also, green remain the dominant color)
But only for Sanzu and Senju.
Light green eyes with light blue spots.. Can't see Takeomi with that.
BUT THEN.
Takeomi has big pupils in his early drawings, right? And we're going to ignore my friend saying it's bc he's high So.
Dark blue central heterochromia.
Thx yall for coming to my tedtalk

Been seeing so many people misgendering WX-78 recently. (Most ppl on this platform are good, mostly its other platforms) So I decided to give actual evidence on why and how they are CANONICALLY nonbinary. This is not a head-canon. This is legit canon information
thx for coming to my ted talk
A paragraph of text on WX’s DST wiki confirming WX is nonbinary.
Tumblr media
They are officially stated to be nonbinary by Joe Wreggelsworth, he works at Klei Entertainment.
Tumblr media
There is hundreds of quotes that use they/them pronouns for WX. There is no currently usable quotes that depict WX as anything but nonbinary. Here is some examples
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When WX-78 is trapped on the Nightmare throne and a character inspects them the character uses the “other character” voice line. Not the voice line for a male character on the throne.
Tumblr media
More text on the DST wiki using they/them pronouns for WX.
Tumblr media
And in the description of the Klei animated short Disconnected they/them pronouns are used for WX
Tumblr media
And here is a clip of Klei Entertainment developer Steven (or maybe Stephen? Idk how to spell it) using they/them pronouns for WX. This is from the Rhymes with play WX-78 refresh stream
I also dislike when people use He/Him pronouns for Woodrow (WX when they were a human) First, we don’t even know WX’s gender from when they were a human was male. Woodrow could have still used they/them pronouns. Here some text from Wagstaff’s wiki page of Woodrow being referred to as they/them.
Tumblr media
Yes, you can argue that WX-78 was originally not supposed to be a nonbinary character. Heres u/Pingy_Junk ‘s discussion about that on reddit.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope this “tedtalk” had enough information/made sense. All in all, WX-78 is nonbinary and will kill u
