My fav part is that we haven’t seen this side of Mew at ALL (apart from some very light manipulation), but he warned Top from the beginning. He was like “I’m not a virgin for any reason other than I know how I am and if I start liking a guy that much I’m gonna get CRAZY and I don’t wanna get CRAZY.” And Top was like “haha wow that’s cute, girl, tell me more” bc he was too busy hoeing, and now look

But seriously:
Can anyone name a bad new character??
Do you know how hard it is to introduce new characters when the old crew is so universally beloved?

please share your thoughts on vinland saga. what is your favorite character, scene...? what is something you learnt through it?
omgogmogmgmggogm ty for this ask anon also so sorry it took me a while to get around to but i appreciate it i loooove vinland saga sm n i’d love to talk more ab it 😭🫶🏼💕 n if you’ve seen the show too i’d love to know ur answers to those questions as well aaa :””)
my favorite character for suuurrree is thorfinn :”) he is my sweet summer child, the apple of my eye, the kindest of all, my son, my heart, my treasure, my love, i adore him sm there are times where i think of him n i just start tearing up out of nowhere. imma sound so fkn insane when i say this but i really truly believe he exists in my hearrrtttt 😭💕 like he has to, there’s no way these feeligns of adoration i have for him have not manifested on some physical realm i just love him sosososooso much sobs he is my favorite fictional character of all time n i wish i could smooch makoto yukimura very gingerly on the cheek for bringing such a beautifully well written character to life. his determination to become a better person, live true to his ideals, and create safe haven for others is srs so inspirational to me i love him sm

i would literally commit war crimes for him LMFAO (even tho that’s the opposite of what he would want anyone to do for him haha)
as for what i’ve learned n my fave scene(s) i will add a keep reading bc spoilers and also it’s gonna be really fuckin long 💀
what have i learned from vinland saga? dear god, so much. i could talk about this show for hours, HOURS, and i have before!! it is just that dense in philosophy n had my head spinning from all the reflections
of course, there is the infamous line in the show ‘i have no enemies’, which i think can mean a lot of different things to different people, in thorfinn’s case it is the line that allows him to adopt a life of tranquility n pacifism. i think for me, this line taught me to assume the best in people, and once i started doing that i think i learned how peaceful n meaningful life can be. for example, if i interact with a rude person or am fighting with someone i care about, and i am affected emotionally by it, i might think of that lesson from the show and i feel free in knowing that i have no one who i desire to hurt or retaliate against or even harbor negative feelings towards in my head(the saying comes to mind to think or speak negatively about others is to poison yourself) as someone w a lot of fuckin anxiety it’s very liberating to think that way, and i think that’s the biggest lesson i’ve learned from the show (among many, many, many others. i think another big lesson is obviously the subject of forgiveness, both in others and in oneself, but this post will end up being too long if i go into depth of all the things i’ve thought ab while watching vinland saga)
as for my fave scenes, i’ll try to just pick three 😭😭😭
1. end of the prologue. the scene when askleadd dies was so beautifully done. the moment where in his final moments, he urges thorfinn to rethink his life and what he wants from it, and to follow in his father’s footsteps. askeladd was such a cruel, violent, and objectively horrible person n was the cause of thorfinn’s journey of hatred in the first place, and yet in his final moments somehow his words to thorfinn did not feel out of character. that was the moment where i realized wow, this author knows what tf he’s doing and is truly so talented. to have a character’s traits sneak up on you like that, built so subtly throughout the show, so that the payoff feels so real and fitting and not forced, driving the direction of the story in the way we had been hoping for the whole time. fuuuckckf. also, quick mention of the scene where thorifnn finally lets go of his dagger n all the scenes from season one flash by on the metal. fuck. i cry EVERY. TIME.
2. i mean it’s a given, but the scene when thorfinn finally understands his father’s words and admits to a circle of bloodlust vikings that they are not his enemies, and that he has no enemies. what a wonderful full circle moment for his character arc, i get chills just thinking about it
3. this one may be a bit more random lol, but the episode that will forever stick in my memory is gardar’s backstory episode. fuck i could writr a ten page essay about this one twenty minute episode ALONE, but i’ll just pick out the one scene that just kills me. the scene where gardar helplessly watches himself in the past, as he leaves arnheid & hjalti, and there’s nothing he can do to stop himself. fucking hell. if there’s any scene that i think could perfectly show what a feeling of regret is like, that would be the scene, and what fucks me up so much about that scene is how he cannot even manage WORDS. he is a grown man, reduced to intelligible sounds because his pain is so profound and his guilt runs so deep that it is like he becomes all but a helpless child. just kill me, seriously. i had never cried so hard in my LIFE watching anything than in that episode. i sobbed so hard i had hiccups n my sleeves were covered in snot. but the ending, when he got to see his son again in the afterlife n he was the age that he wouldve been if he was still alive :”) my god. yukimura nails anything that has to do with father son dynamics, im sure its because he has a few boys of his own, and his love for his children is so evident in his writing. but also, the fact that he was able to make me feel SO MUCH for a character we hardly knew anything of, and also to use a character that the audience is not very familiar with to tell a story that i think almost everyone on this planet could relate to in some capacity (things we want to change n wish we could go back to do so…) just what a genius genius creative decision like he is just such a wonderful writer i appreciate him so much 😭😭😭
god, all of s2 is honestly my favorite scene LMFAO. the whole entirety of it is a masterclass in story telling. imma just do a quick few more of my fave scene shoutouts tho 😭
thorfinn getting his ear sliced by fox, thorfinn calling einer his brother, thorfinn climbing his way out of valhalla, thorfinn telling arnheid about vinland before she passed away, snake revealing the truth behind ketil’s name, thorfinn reuniting with his mother again. god just all of it. i swear, just all of it.
GAT DAYUM THIS IS LONG but idgaf i’d talk about this show until i draw my last breath lmfaooo thank u anon for this ask im clearly insane 🤣🤣🤣 ur probs like im never sending this bitch an ask ever again LMFAO just joking but srs i appreciate it i had a lot of fun answering :””) i just love this show so much

Cassian totally foreshadowed Nemik’s death with his “you’ll sleep when it’s done” line and honestly I’m not surprised at all with this narrative choice, because it gives Cassian a reason to fight for something bigger than himself (and avoids other problematic, more trope-y death plot points)…
But goddamn if I didn’t hope it wouldn’t actually happen that way 😭😭😭

that doctor in station 11 saying "the courage to bear witness to death is the job, the courage to be there" hit me so hard for some reason. the way the show revolves around the aftereffects of a pandemic and how our current pandemic is one of the main reasons i stopped being a doctor. the way my lack of courage to be there, how it slowly damaged me mentally, is one of the reasons i couldn't continue being a doctor. it all hits home so much.

the extent to which i am crying screaming losing my mind at the sheer perfection of that utsukushii kare finale is unreal and has me beyond excited for the movie. so get ready for a never ending stream of me ranting about this show. and for me inevitably crocheting that cushion.

I know I gush over the good place a lot, but I just want to add… I genuinely think this is the best show ever made. It is an actual masterpiece.
This is truly a show that makes you think and reflect on humans as a whole. The fact it says that no one is beyond rehabilitation and no one deserves eternal torment is so awesome, and genuinely, I agree. Everyone deserves a chance to become better people, since no one is inherently evil. Even if it takes millions of years (or bearimies), everyone is capable of change. It literally shows it, by having an actual “Arizona dirtbag” and a literal demon, improve into the most morally correct characters ever is amazing.
I think that a show, a COMEDY SHOW, taking this stance is so brave and makes leaps and bounds in the humanity of everyone. The fact the show also says that an eternal “heaven” is not all that its made out to be (in the most beautiful and tear jerking finales ever) is so amazing and true. Even Chidi’s wave speech about the concept of death: 1. Made me ugly cry (i mean, i ugly cried throughout the entire episode, but still), 2. Is so beautiful.
This is such an amazing philosophical show that I think everyone in this world needs to take notes on. Watching this show will genuinely make you become a better person, which is something very few shows, or none at all, are able to accomplish.
Here are some of my favorite clips saying that change in everyone is possible:

Alright, I'm done with Oh No! Here Comes Trouble for today. I got advised by @troubled-mind to watch episodes 10-11-12 in one go for maximun damage, and to be sure to have time to recover so I'll do them this Saturday.
I am not ready, I already know it.

so,,, i was rewatching episode 5 as one does to deal with the fact it’s not saturday yet and when i got to the scene where kinn and his father discuss while playing chess the scene in episode 7 in the hospital with kinn and his father talking again suddenly came to mind and it's fascinating to think about how much both scenes parallel each other and have in common in terms of kinn's character development or more specifically the way he’s breaking free from the role he is supposed to play
Tumblr media
in episode 5 kinn goes to his father because chan told him he wants to talk to him and kinn enters the scene like a lost kitten with puppy eyes afraid of what his father would want considering he had sex with porsche the night before and neglected his work the day after and he knows that his father is going to scold him and it's something that always sticks to me when i rewatch the episode because i really like kinn's little expressions here (mile is an acting genius wbk)
Tumblr media
so he enters the scene with a stance that makes it seem like his head is weighting on his shoulders and he exales when his father very calmly says 'have a seat' so kinn hints a nervous smile and sits while his father looks at him showing a little smile himself and here kinn hasn’t his jacket on and his hair looks messy he seems so small and powerless like up to that point we saw a fierceless kinn with flames in his eyes and little to no fear surrounding his persona and this scene is maybe the first time we see that vulnerable of him side he then shows in episode 6 when he's alone with porsche and it is also the first time we see kinn actually positioned below his father and kind of scared of him as opposed to the other conversations they had in which it always seemed like they were almost at the same level and kinn always seemed at ease maybe just a bit intimidated as he should because he is anyway father an older person and the leader of their family so he should show respect always
Tumblr media
so he's lost and he tries acting as normal as possible but he knows his father can see right through him and his eyes express that sense of vulnerability he's feeling trying to obtain his father's validation they start talking his father seems at ease and starts with small talks and it's kinn that finally breaks and goes to the point because he feels his father's judging gaze on him and the moment they start talking about porsche and about what happened between them the night before kinn is not the mafia boss anymore he's just a boy trying to justify his action to his father who's scolding him
Tumblr media
'as a boss, i'm supposed to take care of him, aren't i?' he seems so lost he's trying to justify himself he just wants to hear his father say he did the right thing but
Tumblr media
and kinn lowers his head once again avoiding eye contact with his father because deep down he knows that what he did was innapropriate
Tumblr media
and at the end he says this, asking his father again what he should do, understanding that if he doesn't want people to gossip about what happened he needs to be bossy and reminds them who's in charge and punish porsche is the only way to do that
Tumblr media
but then he says this and i think he says it because he wants his father to decide against the idea of punish porsche because kinn knows it wasn't porsche’s fault and he knows he doesn't deserve the punishment so it's like he's saying to his father 'are you sure we should punish him?'
Tumblr media
my god look at this lil meow meow eyes he's so tamed he just wants to obey his father and don't dissapoint him it hurts
and the conversation between them ends like this with kinn visibly at loss and korn who once again established his power over his son
but then episode 7 happens and we hear korn say 'your eyes have changed' and they have indeed because the way kinn is looking at his father now after being alone with porsche in the forest for days is different those days apart from his reality really did something to him and he doesn't seem scared of his father and in search of validation anymore
Tumblr media
(referring to the first picture of this post) this time kinn is not sitting opposite to his father but they're beside one another and neither of them turn their whole body towards the other they’re sitting straight and eying each other now he's watching his father how he watches everyone else like he's sitting on this golden throne above all else if his father was the one looking down before he's now looking up at him and it's so important that he indeed noticed it and says 'your eyes have changed'
Tumblr media
kinn's expression does drop only because it's the first time he comes to term with the fact that porsche is changing him and the people who knows him are noticing it but he doesn't break eye contact with his father he doesn't lower his head he continues to look at his father fiercely and then his father proceeds with the apple and knife story which parallels the chess analogy he used in episode 5 and we see kinn reacts in a way that screams something along the 'what is this old man saying please shut up' opposite to the chess game when he was practically shitting his pants for how much he was afraid of his father's reaction and i love how opposite the two scenes are because now his father is trying to scare him again with his stories and lessons while what kinn gets from the whole conversation is the fact that he should work on his trust issues to be with porsche because he wants to be with him he wants to trust him he’s beginning to appreciate himself more because of how porsche makes him feel and he doesn’t want to treat these feelings as weaknesses but as a strengths and that's why he accepts the apple from his father and takes the bite he's accepting to be corrupted by the decision he's making that could jeopardize everything he has worked for ‘till that moment and it all culminates with kinn escaping the hospital to go and be with porsche and gifts him his gun(s)
his father asks him to come back to his old self for the sake of the family but later kinn confesses to tay that he doesn't want to be like his old self anymore he's aware of the progress he has made and he wants to move forward
the two scenes parallel each other and give us an insight in the changing developing of kinn's true character which i guess will come to its climax at the end of the series when he'll fully trust porsche with his life and they'll begin the us against the world act
