I love fanfiction, its such a cool form of art and its great to see people who love the same media as me creating more content surrounding it, but I feel like my tolerance for fanfiction has gotten so much worse compared to when I was a kid.

I used to consume any and everything I could in relation to my faves, but now if I open up a fanfiction and it doesn't have paragraph breaks where there should be, or characters use words that they would never use in canon, I find myself clicking off more often than not.

I love and appreciate that those ones exist, I know there are people who appreciate them even if I don't personally, but I miss being able to consume fanfiction without bias towards word choice or structure.

#i was looking at jrwi fanfictions #and its taking so long to find ones i can actually read #i got a few paragraphs into one i loved the premise of #and then a character said “90% of the people here are neurodivergent and nobody is cishet”#and i just looked at it #like this bastard does NOT know what those things mean #this man stores traumas like theyre trinkets in a fun little box #he does NOT know the term “neurodivergent”???#or in another one he called somebody “babygirl” and im just staring #like sir you need a nap or smthn #ur not u when ur fanfic #but genuinely i love the fics that i cant read simply by right of existing #im glad theyre there even if its not my style #fanfic authors and fan artists carry fandoms hands down
