While i do enjoy zelda games and zelda lore and whatnot i have only played 6 zelda games... i know there are a lot more than 6.
Obviously ive played breath of the wild and tears of the kingdom. I dont really know what made me want to play breath of the wild. It was very unlike other games id usually play. Especially since i tend to just play the same few games over and over again... but im glad i did, because i enjoyed it immensely, to the point where i played it twice, my first time being on the wiiu.
I think one of my earliest attempts of playing a zelda game that i can remember was wind waker on the gamecube. I never managed to beat it partly since the console was at my grandmothers house and partly because i got stuck at dragon roost island because something odd had happened with the collapsing stairs that i was unable to progress. I dont know if i had gotten actually softlocked or if it was just a skill issue on my part. I was kinda young at the time. I did end up playing and beating wind waker hd later on. Then i tried to play it again on the gamecube but for some reason i lost interest at the part where i had to find the iron boots to progress.
Ive played four swords adventure way too many times. More times than id care to admit. More times than i can count. For no reason other than it was the only zelda game we had for a while and i just loved playing the gamecube and it was not a very difficult game (there was one time when i was younger i did get stuck on one level for. Possibly hours, driving my parents insane because i just kept going back and forth trying to figure it out) and it was just a fun game. As much as ive played it i absolutely would not consider it my favorite zelda game. Its a fun game but its also boring at the same time. Probably just because ive already played it so many times.
Ive attempted minish cap twice and beat it once. My first attempt i couldnt figure out how to beat vaati, but in my defense, everything else in the game with singular eyes youre supposed to shoot them with arrows. So naturally i never once thought to swing my sword at vaati because he is just eyes. And eyes = arrows. And it just never occured to me to try and hit him normally until i replayed it earlier this year. Other than that, its a fun game, and i love how it looks.
I played links awakening dx. I dont remember much about that game actually. I enjoyed it. It looked cute. I had no means of playing the original. Thats all i have to say about it.
Now. Those are games that ive finished a playthrough of. Ive also attempted twilight princess. Unfortunately i attempted it right after having played botw for a while, so i had to get unused to being able to climb things. And... embarrassingly enough, i got stuck at the very first temple of the game where you get the boomerang. I just couldnt figure out where to go. And being very aware that this was so early in the game and i already got stuck did make me feel discouraged. Not that i thought the game was too hard, but that i shouldnt be struggling as much as i did... nobody was watching me play but i was still embarrassed anyway. So, perhaps in the future ill give it another shot.
Now i am playing ocarina of time and will hopefully play through majoras mask. I have a feeling i may not end up ever beating majoras mask, but... i will at least try.

Non-RWBY/ MLP models I wanna do and how I'd explain them in Remnant.
01. Felix Argyle (Ferris)
Tumblr media
Would Probably use a similar story to how he met his princess but set and altered to fit Remnant.
Felix was simply born with two physical Faunus traits. While I say simply this would be more on pair with a condition/ mutation like Polymelia a genetic anomaly that results in people having extra limbs.
The difference being that in Felix's case he's simply born with a extra trait. However the effects it has on him are more detrimental For instance racist see him as even more of a animal then most faunus.
While some faunus see him with contempt for seemingly being to them what Faunus are yo racist. His parents ashamed and afraid of redicue lock him up I their house
Things would play out similar to how they did in their book but instead of Crusch Jaune and the Arcs noticing the families odd behavior find and rescue the boy.
2. Toga (My Hero Academia)
Tumblr media
Her circumstances can be similar to her series. Given that Neo can form illusions and Xanthe can quite literally transmutation seemingly anything to gold I don't see why Toga can't take on the apperance/ voice and even eventually semblance of those whose blood she ingest.
Though I would alter the reasoning to that of that she needs the others aura to mimic them. Blood is just the easiest way to injest it as while the blood cells are still there is no reason they shouldn't theoretically still retain their aura.
03. Najimi Osana (Komi Can't Communicate)
Tumblr media
This one's fairly easy too, Najimi simply grew up with Jaune (Or one of his sisters) as a classmate. He befriended everyone like in his own manga/ anime.
And simply got a crush on Jaune convincing himself he'd confess at graduation... Only Jaune wasn't there and had left for Beacon.
04. Rebecca (Cyberpunk 2077)
Tumblr media
Rebecca's is a bit harder but off the top of my head, I can see her and the gang she rolled with in Mantle. Not as techy as they had been in Cyberpunk though, or maybe they were. Not really too important for the relevance her, point is Rebecca nearly dies. And only survives because Pietro can't help but try and save her on principle.
Using his technology... And even his semblance he does manage to save the girl, though the result leaves her more mechanical then human. Rebecca as we know is loyal, arguably to a fault.
So once she hears the old man quite literally tore his soul apart to save her she grows attached to him and his... daughter Penny who insist on calling her sister.
05. Midna (Legend of Zelda, Twilights Princess)
Tumblr media
Honestly, I got nothing for this one, doesn't mean I wanna make it any less. Maybe Jaune falls into the Twilight Realm instead of the Everafter... Or Midna is sent to Remnant instead of Zelda's world. Or Jaune and the Arc's as a whole could be Link's Ancestors who could be guarding the Mirror of Twilight to this day.
06. Amy Rose, Rouge the Bat & Blaze the Cat (Sonic Franchise)
Tumblr media
Jaune fell into Mobius instead of the Everafter
07 Hideri Kanzaki (Blend S)
Tumblr media
Him and Jaune come from the same village were his parents are farmers. Hideri unlike Jaune adored getting dressed up and praised and dreamed of the big city and becoming a cute idol.
Jaune supported his dream, encouraging his friend who in turn encouraged him to be a Huntsman as well. He left for Vale with Jaune who fought off several Grimm on their way there. He aimed to start his career as a idol while Jaune tried for Beacon...
Several months later he's crossdressing at a cafe and Jaune steps in to see how his friends doing.
08. Fujiwara Sisters, Maki & Nagatoro's Crew
Tumblr media
These are actually super easy, their civilians, lets say Mistral, since both shows are based in japan and Mistral seems to be the asia of Remnant.
I can see two simple ways of doing it, Senpai and Shirogine can be related to, or friends of Jaune's parents. Hence why when visiting Mistral Jaune decides to see how his old friend/ Cousin are.
Also maybe I should give a brief summary of three others I've already maid.
Louise de La Vallière (Familiar of Zero)
Tumblr media
this one as a commission already has a setting... Basically the Valliere family fought with the Arcs in the Great War where her grandfather fought besides Jaeger Arc.
The two grew close as brothers and agreed to marry their children, unfortunately Julius fell in love with Juniper and caused friction by cancelling his engagement to the two elder daughters.
Thankfully Jaeger did have a younger son, Jaune, who would become Beacon's Prof. Arc.
This is a reference to Louise fiancée Jean-Jacques Wardes
Tumblr media
who looks about the same ages a my Prof. Arc model, the irony being that Jaune supported, trained and helped his fiancée however he could unlike his traitorous counterpart.
He never intended to actually make the young girl follow through with their wedding either. Perfectly willing to break his word and dishonor himself so she could be free to love whoever she chooses.
Because of Jaune's influence and the fact that she's not considered a failure magician in Remnant and in turn ostracized Louise isn't as violent as she is initially.
And while Jaune doesn't notices it, Louise doesn't see their engagement in a negative light.
Manami Aiba/ La Brava (My Hero Academia)
Tumblr media
Born with dwarfism Manami always felt different, self conscious and misunderstood. She yearned for connection and affection from a young age and could always feel others look at her differently...
She was quite sharp and capable, but there was another facet to her... She Loved HARD. When she got a crush it wasn't a simple crush, but instead utter affection.
Her pure little heart was so filled with affection on her first ever that the immense emotion awoke her aura and semblance... Love. The ability to multiple the targeted individual dependent on her feeling towards them.
Given her semblance she saw it as proof that she needed to pursue him, cherish and learn about him. Unfortunately it resulted in her freaking said boy out, viewing her as a stalking, and rumor spread over the tiny lil' weirdo stalker.
She ended up leaving school, shutting herself off from others, and surviving in private using her impressive computer skills to make money. Whether that be a regular computer job, hacking systems for less savory people or selling information she managed to dig up to Hei Xiong.
But nothing healed her heart, made her reach out, there was no Gentle Criminal who filled her world with light in Remnant... No instead one day, where she'd been forced to leave her home on a rare occasion she was stopped by several thugs... And then saved, by a random, kind... Cute, tall... Knight.
Tumblr media
Ilulu (Miss Kobayashi's Dragon Maid)
Tumblr media
I'm thinking of doing something similar to the series but instead of Toru being injured and found by Kobayashi it's Ilulu who is found and healed by Jaune.

I think something I've seen people kinda neglect to acknowledge after the most recent Sonic Twitter Takeover is Eggman's always had a kinda conditional affection for Metal Sonic, whereas there's no such implication for Sage. I 100% think Eggman views Metal Sonic as expendable to some degree in a similar manner to how he views Orbot and Cubot, just not to the same degree. Like Eggman's always played favoritism with his robots, and Metal isn't exempt from that.
Metal's programmed to obey Eggman's orders, and it's safe to assume that programming was made stricter after Sonic Heroes. Hell, Metal tried to rebuild the Eggman Empire after Sonic Forces according to the IDW comics, Eggman is very much not going to give up on Metal Sonic any time soon.
However, Metal can always be rebuilt. He's a Badnik. The only distinction between Metal and regular Badniks is that Metal has a more intense drive to defeat Sonic, and Metal was designed to look like Sonic. Outside of that he's really not much different from any other Badnik. If Eggman really wanted to he could just scrap the current Metal Sonic and build another with minimal effort; in fact it's 100% possible that the Metal we see now isn't the same Metal we saw in Sonic Heroes, or even in Sonic Rivals 2 for that matter.
With Sage, she's basically Eggman's AI daughter. It makes sense that Sage would be the creation he's most proud of. She's her own person, and she can learn and grow (in fact, she does, which leads to Eggman viewing her more as a person and less as an AI). Metal's a Badnik. His programming is basically "destroy Sonic" and that's it. He doesn't have humanity, he doesn't learn and grow outside of learning more about his enemies' abilities.
Additionally, Metal has to be told to help Sonic and his friends, and Metal has to be told that it's for the benefit of Eggman if he's told to help Sonic. Sage actively told Eggman that he needed to work with Sonic in Sonic Frontiers.
Basically, Sage has humanity, Metal doesn't. For all we know, Metal could've been scrapped and rebuilt multiple times by now. I think that's why Eggman said Sage was his favorite creation he's made the Takeover; he keeps Metal around for convenience (because while he could just rebuild Metal at any point, it's probably inconvenient, and Orbot and Cubot seem to view him as a brother going off of Sonic Colors: Rise of the Wisps), he keeps Sage around because he views her as his daughter. He treats Metal like he could be scrapped at any moment; throughout the Egg Memos, he's progressively treating Sage like a person.
It makes complete sense for Eggman to say he's most proud of Sage, and if you think I'm wrong you haven't been paying attention to the subtleties in how Eggman treats Sage vs how Eggman treats Metal Sonic. 100% I think Eggman views Metal Sonic as a more advanced Badnik and nothing more, because at his core, that's what Metal Sonic is. Realistically, why be proud of something you can just make more of at any moment? He created Sage, and Sage is literally an entire person?? Why the hell is it so weird that he said Sage is his favorite of his creations??????

Do you have top 10 or top 7 favorite (fictional) characters (if you feel like listing multiple) of all time from any media?
That is actually a very tricky question, dear Anon. For you see the list if my favourite characters is CONSTANTLY changing. Similar to my list of my favourite songs haha. So I cannot give you a set "All time Favourite” list but I can offer you a "List of Characters Tyriq enjoys at this very moment on the 18th of March 2024”
1) Nero Claudius from Fate/Extra, Fate/Last Encore, Fate/Extella and Fate/Grand Order
Tumblr media
The second I had first heard this woman say "umu” that was it for me. I knew I’d be obsessed with her for the rest of my days. She is adorable, she is loyal, she is THAT GIRL, a queen, an emperess, a goddess, and just seeing her instantly makes my brain pump out serotonin. Who even needs anti depressants when you can have Nero.
2) Vash the Stampede from Trigun Stampede
Tumblr media
Babygirl. Princess. Loserboy. Golden Retriever Puppy. Beloved Wife. He’s adorable, pathetic, a wonderfully tragic yet optimistic character. He’s my beautiful little princess and I lay my life down before him.
3)Yoimiya from Genshin Impact
Tumblr media
Her absolute happy go lucky attitude and sweet personality is like liquid gold shot straight into my arteries. I had fallen in love with this woman the very second I had laid eyes on her. Also she has been my main for two years at this point she’s genuinly just that fun to play.
4) Kaveh from Genshin Impact
Tumblr media
The suffering artist trope CRANKED UP TO ELEVEN! Again like Vash this man is equally tragic as he is kindhearted and despite having been scammed out of his money multiple times he still cannot help but sacrifice his own well being if it would result in someone else’s happiness. Also before you ask: Yes, I do ship him and Alhaitham
5) Ichiban Kasuga from Yakuza
Tumblr media
What else can I say about Ichiban other than he’s almost stupidly optimistic and no matter how hard of a curveball life throws at him, he ALWAYS keeps the attitude of "once you hit rock bottom the only way is up.”, always trying to both see and bring out the best in people. Also he’s a massive Dragon Quest fan so obviously I’d end up obsessing over this beautiful specimen of a man who at the age of 42 still is not 100% sure where women pee from.
6) Erik from Dragon Quest XI
Tumblr media
Honestly I could have EASILY put the entire main cast of Dragon Quest XI on this list because the characters of that game are simply that likeable and well written, but if I had to choose one, it would have to be your very first party member and the hero’s best friend and totally platonic roommate Erik. This man’s sassy attitude yet undying loyalty and devotion towards the hero is so strong not even the apocalypse itself could tear the hero and Erik apart for long.
7) Ryuji Sakamoto from Persona 5
Tumblr media
I think at this point y’all are starting to see a pattern in my favourite characters: Ryuji is loyal like a golden retriever puppy, absolutely adorable and sweet with a severe lack of Braincells.
8) Silver the Hedgehog from the Sonic the Hedgehog Franchise
Tumblr media
Silver has literally been my favourite Sonic character since Childhood. His whole stick is that he’s unbeatable optimistic. Despite becoming from an apocalyptic future where everything is covered in flames, he never stops believing that things can become better if you try. His naivety however leads to characters like Mephilis abusing his optimism for their own agenda. But none of that stops Silver from
being one of my greatest comfort characters.
9) William James Moriarty from Moriarty the Patriot
Tumblr media
✨Be Gay. Do Crime✨
✨Communism✨
✨Clinical Depression✨
All these things and more describe William James Moriarty and he’s so valid for it.
10) The Professor from Puppet History
Tumblr media
He’s just a little guy. He’s a little guy and it’s his birthday

all-time dream peche show/set
some of y'all bless n keep u are weird enough to want this information and because i am quite literally an information professional (librarian) i spent too much time and thought on this. at least a lot of it was on the clock lmao putting this under a cut bc it goes off
a lil note
i tried to choose songs i know them to perform, which i suppose in some ways defeats the purpose of something like this lol i guess the dream part is in the production/performance. and alan still being in the band and it somehow being 1987 but they also have access to their entire back catalog. anyway! i reference a lot of mixes throughout and i don't necessarily mean they perform it exactly like that as opposed to the originally released version, more.. thats the vibe i'd want the arrangement to channel
set list
instrumental intro - painkiller (w bc/cta industrial samples. basically would love to see alan get his grubby rat claws on this one)
first quarter: classic pechay mold - walking in my shoes (anandamidic mix) - policy of truth (think the way dave’s busting this out on mm tour is maybe its platonic ideal) - stripped (highland mix + 101 rlly going off with the giant sound pads)
second quarter: we r grooving - halo (no notes whatsoever. a setlist with express purpose of GROOVE and i could take lessons) - mercy in you (devotional. the way it’s a gospel disco hit in 1996..if you come up w a better way to arrange this lmk) - in your room (album version obv + apex mix as the outro which litr samples judas/leads into)
martin songs: wanna see that man suffering and healed - judas (grooving outro fucking required this is my huge and glaring shade on devotional lol) - home (alan could have fun w this one i think) - strangelove (starts w mm tour acoustic mart + finishes with full backing n shared lead)
third quarter: let’s have some fun! - shake the disease (a vault classic that i’d love to see them do something weird with) - nothing (101 guitar moment w the caveat i have heard rumors of a ‘devotionalised’ version that didnt end up on the setlist and if it truly fucks like i hope it would, then that) - john the revelator (influence of the unkle reconstruction aka that twinkling far out grungy thing. feel like mart on guitar and alan sparkling along the keys would be mmmmmmmm)
mart n dave duet interlude - sweetest perfection/condition mix (alright ive seen no one discuss this but these 2 share more than similar names!! i can hear it!!! and to get an a. wilder layered sonic journey..i wouldnt know how to act)
fourth quarter: we R grooving redux (R for haRd) - it’s no good (influence of hardfloor mix) - enjoy the silence (devotional/onip aka mart get nasty with that solo and dave be gay about it)(alright this is gonna be controversial for this blog but i think it’s gotta be the paris version for this show. it’s such a filthy solo and also imagine alan on the drums for it)(whos playing the keys bitch this is a fantasy) - nlmda (aggro mix intro + split mix Yes at least 10 mins of this song)
encore: oh y’all wanted to dance huh - personal jesus (funnily enough with how Much™ i want everything else to be, playing this one straight might be the highest camp experience it can give) - master and servant (101 sound pads and outro breakdown) - just can’t get enough (live in hamburg where they just fuck UP that 12”)
2nd encore: peche mode is a sad band, but the best band in the world - a question of lust (flood mix) - black celebration (101 w all its extra interesting lil sounds is a fav but i’d be SO open to a new alan take on this one) - everything counts (the graph/on the wall/the hand shake versions only. everyone else need not apply)(yes that means u devotional)
setting and era (musically/aesthetically)
as for the musical era, here’s the thing: if alan is present (and as it’s my dream dm show he is) i trust him to unify All This under some kind of cohesive performance. these are but humble suggestions of my fav arrangements. i’d say the underlying theme of my choices is High on the groove scale, but also very much wanting old school peche banging with hammers
outdoor on the lawn venue. ideally june 1, so it’s alans bday n dave hopefully won’t shut up abt it. looks-wise mftm/101 w shades of violator dark summer sexy. in high fantasyland: alan’s got that bisexual denim on leather look of drumming personal jesus in 89. mart’s tits are slipping out of that super low cut tank of 90 with the armband on. fletch is in his cunty mock turtleneck. dave’s in leather pants, a red tank n shirt and The Jacket that he gradually strips out of of (feels sacrilegious to not have him in a crop top in the late 80s so let’s just say his tank rides up a lil hehe)
mostly devotional visuals tho colorized less blue/purple lol, the big sans-serif Ms of memento mori were also giving for me. always love a dual-level setup for a dm show, but only if dave can traipse about both levels and flirt with whomsoever he chooses (which he will)

an honest review of minisode 3: tomorrow purely from musical observation (not proofread)
opening remarks: i'm one day late and that is definitely still valid. given that there is currently a boycott for big 4 from april 1st to may 1st, i've downloaded the album off of spotify so thank you to the developer who created the software.
is there a reason why both the chaos and name chapters only have two releases on their belt whilst the dream chapters have 3? in a way, i think this is telling of how fast the trend is changing here in kpop and pop culture music in general. i could say that kpop groups are literally cloud chasing the newest tiktok trending music given that le sserafim's newest release is full of familiar sounds rather than establishing their sound. i sure hope this album has a clear way to tell what it wants to tell because i have a pretty big expectation when it comes to txt, especially since i came here blind and deaf cause i don't know anything about this comeback apart from the concept and promotional photos.
speaking of that, concept-wise it seems interesting. i'm currently in a more neutral side because i just realized just how biased i can become even if it doesn't meet my expectations. i like how they basically embrace their fantasy-esque story retelling on things happening to individuals in real life. based on the txt.ibighit, the concept of this release is about past promises, salvation, and hope for tomorrow, which i've felt in a few of the concept photos. i, once again, feel disappointed to know the creative difference in between the concept photos and the music video. it kinda feels like false advertising as i realize the dichotomy of it. as i enter into the sonic world of this album with restrain and neutrality, i hope that the songs can help to invest me with them too.
let's start!
1.i'll see you there tomorrow: what in the illit is this? it sounds rhythmically and melodically complex at the start, which i like. but it became this light hyperpop-esque edm sound. i think this will be a challenging first song to here, especially with kpop fans who are not familiar with "strange beats". the bridge part kind of reminds me of daft punk in a way with beomgyu's voice on the vocoder filter. soobin's timbre is the highlight of this song for me because it has been a long time since i hear low-voice soobin, so i'm glad to hear it here. i like how complex the percussion of the song is, especially in combination with the bass playing.
2.- --- -- --- .-. .-. --- .-- ("tomorrow" in morse code): i know it's literally only morse code and it's definitely lore-based, but why do they bring back the morse code now when the last time we hear it is in crown/dream chapter star? hmmm
3.deja vu: i've heard from people that this title track doesn't have a bridge. that is definitely a minus for me. but let me here it first before continuing to write this.
at first listen, this reminds me of a japanese release of a kpop group. i was reminded of stray kids's slump, maybe because it's the synth that they're using. i like the little sprinkle of a floaty synth behind it as it seems like there is ghost (positively?) haunting the song, that's why it sounded a bit mystical and isekai-ish. i like that little interlude as it enters verse 2. okay, i now understand why there are people who complained about the lack of a bridge cause this song has the potential to be a more tear-jerker than it is now if there is a bridge.
i will compare this song with bts' spring day (which for me gives off similar vibes, especially with their current situation mirroring bts during their time releasing ynwa). i'm always near in tears whenever i hear spring day ever since it was released and i believe it is because of taehyung's bridge and how the song pays off what it is building throughout the listening experience, especially in the music video version with the added band interlude. deja vu has the potential to be txt's take on spring day (some may say it already is), but, for me, the lack of bridge = lack of payoff = lack of grit to the song. that second interlude with the guitar and added like another set of lyrics can definitely alleviate and add that grit i'm searching for. i also think that maybe strings can also be added to aid the tear-jerking sense of the song. but it is synthy so idk how it will be connected (maybe this is an encouragement to use acoustic/natural sound more than midi). i also think the short pre-verse also contributes to the lack of grit this song potentially has because it hasn't fully develop the transition between the verse and the chorus.
other than that, this is the first hybe song where the vocal processing doesn't sink the vocals into the instrumental (until the deja vu part in the chorus). yeonjun's voice has this yearning in it that is definitely to match the vibe of the song. he is definitely the highlight for me. i'm also not surprised at the lack of beomgyu here because this song is high even for me and especially for the boys. beomgyu's songs are the brooding, darker one but this one is more melancholic to hopeful so it is expected to not hear much of him.
a missed potential to add a freaking heartbreaking bridge and a much more grand departure. if they maybe get more inspirations from aespa's welcome to my world then i can hear the track in its fullest potential.
4.miracle: different types of me hearing the world miracle: (1) life could get better~ (suju's miracle) n (2) i believe in miracle (wayv's miracle).
the start of this song reminds me of bts' love myself before changing to enhypen's tfw. okay, it sounds more like those feel-good pop rock songs kinda like enhypen's orange flower or something that i called "road trip songs". it definitely embraces more of rock txt as it delves into something i usually listen at the start of my alt/indie music listening arc. idk why but hearing the synth synchopation at the verse reminds me of the game i'm currently playing, hyper light drifter (which is one of the sound i associated with my fic, subterranean homesick alien). i like the instrumental break at the part where i can say is the bridge, but maybe like a musical breakdown/slowdown where the song slows as it starts with acapella/minimal instrument before rising to the last chorus (that's a beomgyu part and he will definitely shine in that) and i like the cymbals bash at the end as the song closes out.
5.the killa (i belong to you): okay, guitar ooh the latin sound (which i expected seeing the title). it definitely is riding high (maybe dry) of tinnitus with their latin influence. a more lo-fi reggaeton, unlike tinnitus. tbh idk what to say because this is so similar to tinnitus but a bit mellower with the sensuality. i can feel the sensuality with the harmony. with how similar this song is with tinnitus, it also shares its weakness for it to be too droning especially because of the more lo-fi approach. i also don't know what to say on making this song better because i think it is meant to be a song that drones, like those 70's 12" disco songs that can be played for 10 minutes. maybe, if they consider it, making this song more bossa nova it can give off a more unique feeling. surely a bit more sensual but it sounds more like they are serenading you or something. i can also guess from the fact that this is a yeonbin song that it might even have innuendos in the lyrics. another safe entry for me.
6.quarter life: with the title of quarter life and the fact that this a unit song, i thought that THIS song is the yeonbin song because they are in/approaching their quarter life. so i didn't expect the killa to be their songs while beomtyunkai get this song.
i can definitely hear the same influence of this with miracle. the same inspiration maybe because of its rock vibes. it's like the quintessential coming-of-age song you hear in those american coming-of-age movies (say edge of seventeen, perks of being a wallflower type of movies). i can hear the mid 2010s influence of those feel-good songs but i hate how the song abruptly stops anhajkfhaj pls beomgyu sounds so good at the ending but they just decide to finish it. this song deserves a freaking bridge and too hear tyun belt his voice at the last chorus. ughh why are you making a song that can be 3 minutes long so short? me is mad.
7.deja vu (anemoia remix): even i am intrigued with why they decided to put a remix in the main release instead of a one-off single. but after listening to the song, i definitely understand why.
this version of the song is the one that i'm willing to pay to watch live (but i can't tho cause i'm boycotting hybe) because for me, this song doesn't deserve to have a choreo and i rather watch them sing their hearts out. in a way, this version of the song is the happier ending compared to the original's more melancholic. hearing the main synth being put here in it's original form makes it weird, like, you couldn't adjust the synth with the band background? idk, like make it sound more like an organ instead of an 80's synth.
even though in the context of which one i want to watch live, it's this remix. the original deserves to be the title track because i can't imagine this version of the song having to use the choreo. in kpop sense, using this version as the title track will actually erase the other pivotal part of kpop: the performance aspect. yet, i could definitely see this song being performed in the festival circuit (hopefully they do that)
closing remarks: concept-wise and now sound-wise, the concept photos captures perfectly of what the album sounds like (but i just dislike how the music video is different than the concept photos). other than that, especially coming from freefall, this album is definitely underwhelming for me. did it meet my expectations? it exceeds it actually but i just have the feeling that it isn't optimal enough.
to have txt embracing their pop rock side with soft rock now (especially with balletcore, fantasy, n rocker fallen angels as part of the concept) definitely defines them as the rock representative that i have assigned them too (along with woodz for the more grittier alt sounds and dreamcatcher with the heavy metal rock songs) and it shows in how i think their creative director knows that txt = rock, which validates my txt as a rock band au so much but i digress. this side of rock that they're showing is definitely the rock that can be found on tiktok--those songs you hear in those feel good tiktok which is imo a very beginner-friendly side of rock because of its pop n rnb influence. i also like that they're experimenting with i'll see you tomorrow, especially in the verses but the chorus sounds too generic.
i actually really describing this release their spring incarnate song. it's just a shame that they didn't do more with it. and also 17 min ep for 7 songs? i'm actually mad cause that is a freaking scam and the fact that none, NONE, of the song has sung bridges is just *sighs*
final ranking:
7. - --- -- --- .-. .-. --- .-- (it's literally morse code)
6.i'll see you tomorrow (will like it better if they embrace the weirdness instead of making it into the pop mold)
5.the killa (i belong to you) (too droning)
4.quarter life (that abrupt ending makes this drop against miracle even though instrumentally i like this one better)
3.miracle (it feels too safe for me)
2.deja vu (anemoia remix) (pls don't force the choreo to this one)
1.deja vu
small conclusion: how could it have been if deja vu had the spring day x welcome to my world treatment... just add the life-changing bridge, a chorus of string insturments, and voila: best txt title track. lovesong is still my fav title track but ughh what a missed opportunity. f u hybe and bighit for not taking risks
PLS TAKE RISKS!!!

I’m not flexing
I’m not
But I was wondering why everyone was angsting on social media over how to S-Rank the Cyber Space levels. And like yeah, some of them are hard! But others I feel like I had weird intuition while I was playing.
and then I realized.  Some of the Cyber Space levels are wholeheartedly straight-up ripped from Sonic Adventure 2.
I played one of them today for the first time and found myself blazing through it and knowing exactly which path was the fastest one to take, and then I realized. It’s  Sky Rail. I’m playing Sky Rail. I’m playing updated Sky Rail with a Green Hill Zone paint job.
LOOK
Tumblr media
THAT’S why I know to cheat to the right every time the path splits. That’s why I know which rail to jump to, when. THAT’S WHY, on a level I’ve never played before, I felt the wild subconscious urge to just ABANDON RAIL and jump into the void—AND THERE ACTUALLY WAS a platform waiting for me there.
Because I played Sonic Adventure 2 so many times between 9 years old and now that I could do this level in my SLEEP, no matter which version of Sonic’s shoes I’m standing in—AND I KNOW I’M NOT THE ONLY ONE. Why don’’t I see more chatter about this?! Come on tell me you all noticed it! I know I’m just stating  the obvious here but I was so stunned when I hit that platform to the left and thought “I HAVE been here before.”
But like it’s not an EXACT match. It just FEELS similar and if you just relax and let your muscle memory steer you it literally will not steer you wrong. Even when you do something crazy like abandon the rails; if it feels right because your memorized Sky Rail self feels like you should do it, it will pay off. Without LOOKING like a boring repeat. It’s even better than the nostalgia from those reimagined Generations stages.
And you know what? I don’t care what you have to say about it game-design wise, I don’t care if it’s lazy or whatever, it is IMMERSIVE. Because cyberspace is supposed to be a confused dream world influenced by Sonic’s memories and if I didn’t just have the most subconscious-Deja-vu-flashback experience to my 9 year-old self playing a much earlier adventure just now, RIGHT ALONG WITH SONIC—

when you get this ask you have to answer with 5 of ur fav songs and then send this ask to 10 of ur favourite followers :) (no pressure <3)
Ooooooooooh YES an opportunity to open THE ABSOLUTE FLOODGATES of my music preferences! Hmmmmhmhmm heheheheee *rubs hands together maliciously
Okay, so:
1.
AAEERREEEEREEEEEREEE YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH I LOVE SHELTER (by Porter Robinson & Madeon)
Tumblr media
(I’m so sorry I don’t know who this picture’s original artist is, I just found it on google, who ever it was, you are AMAZING ✨)
THE MUSIC VIDEO is just BY GOSH SO GOOD! It’s literally better than most movies I’ve watched. The story, the art, the colours… and the story! DID I MENTION THE STORY!!! AEIIIAJDJFNSNJ okay I won’t spoil it but I’ll have to literally bite my nails clean off gooo shoooo before I explodeeeee… oh… Oh… HERE IT COMES TAKE COV-
2.
Anyways, moving on
My next favourite… ooooh see this ones interesting because there are a bunch of songs here, it’s kind of like, you know when you have multiple favourites and you can’t really choose except I already have a favourite but that’s only because that favourite is relatively more favourite than my other favourites thanks to it’s possession of a feature or features that favourites it out of my other favourites… ish? Yeah? Yeah… ? *hopeful stare
Oki let me try again: i likey many song :D
This spot gets awarded tooooo.... a nightcore remix of Wake me up when September ends, uploaded by Syrex (unfortunately I cant seem to find the original video I usually listen to, the cover art on this is sliiiiightly too graphic for my liking (dw its not explicit or anything) but the original was perfect!)
This was one of my first nightcore songs, and something about it just felt so… magical 🌈 and 🌟mystical🌟… like a sort of window into another dimension? I still come back to it as my comfort song, kind of like a sonical blorbo…. A blorbo song? A slorbo? Yeeeaaah!
In a similar position but possibly not to the same extent are other nightcore remix songs like Drivers License (also uploaded by Syrex) and Fly me to the moon(also Syrex) and some others
3.
Now I do indeed enjoy a spot of classical music (mainly rather popular songs though) and what else do I say than frikin Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No. 1.
Oh ajsjdbdk do I love Tchaikovsky! “Canons are not instruments!” Tchaikovsky: *slow evil grin* “Your gonna love this” *starts 1812 Overture -need I say more
✨Tchaikovsky brain rot Tchaikovsky brain rot Tchaikovsky brain rot Tchaikovsky brain rot Tchaikovsky brain rot Tchaikovsky brain rot Tchaikov✨
Okay I lied actually I do enjoy more than a spot of it, I listen to it classical music sometimes obsessively, all the way from grand masterpieces while looking through my homework as a cunning super villain surveys their chaos to frilly piano pieces. Oooh speaking of, Un Sospiro by Franz Liszt, that is by far one of my favourite piano pieces… maybe close to Piano Conerto no 1 in terms of favouriteness? Maybeeee?
4.
I do also love some pop and dancey and songs. I think One Last Time by Ariana Grande definitely sticks on this list and is one of my all time favourites. The music video is amazing too! There also others like Solo Dance by Martin Jensen, Style by Taylor Swift (oooh another of my favourite artists btw) Don’t lose my number by Phil Collins and Heaven (DJ Sammy and Yanou)
5.
I (mostly) love my YouTube recommendations, and most of the time its cute (and very VERY impressive) animatics galore, and some of the music I’ve heard on them just sticks with me and lives rent free in my head. The one on this list has to be Sincerely, Me (from this animatic). Now I don’t know much about the song out of the context of this animatic, however rumour has it that it is rather twisted (again, I have actually no idea where it’s from, I never followed it up) but it’s so insanely catchy I find myself head-playing it on repeat and listen to it to scratch that very specific itch… the animation is absolutely 🌟amazing🌟 too in that video, and I keep coming back! Also I’d like to show you Think U Know by Ikson, found in this animatic by none other than cudlil :P I love her channel, and all the music she uses!
Tumblr media
So there you go! Now I know it may seem a bit like a genre rank, but I assure you it’s not. It’s not, it’s not not ntotntotntotn noooooo
It’s just that I sort of categorise songs by the way they make me feel, and most of the time the ones listed from 2-5 can be interchanged (meaning I like them all equally)
Oooh oooh! And ofcourse, Thank you so much for the ask! 🌈🌟

I think a problem with Sonic nowadays is that Sega sees the franchise as too profitable too simply drop but not profitable enough to really put that much money or reverence behind. Yes, I know apparently they are expanding Sonic Team but we will have to wait and see on that one. Thoughts?
I don't even know if it's "not profitable enough." Like they always give Sonic a shout out in their earnings, year after year after year. There have definitely been dry spells to be sure, but even if Sonic has been slipping over the years, I think it's still well within the top ten (or even top five) earners for Sega.
Which, at the same time, could be a big range that's hard to calculate, too. I guess we don't know how big is big enough for Sega. There are a lot of factors at play here and it's difficult to say one way or another.
Sonic Unleashed was definitely a game where there were complaints from the development team about the cost of making assets. Levels were gigantic, full of detail, and most of it was hard to see for how fast you moved through it. But they also spent the next three or four games vastly simplifying that pipeline, chopping out expensive features and streamlining asset use. Like I can't imagine Sonic Lost World was a very expensive game for them to make.
And something you gotta keep in mind is that a lot of the more modern engine refreshes are more about making asset generation easier and faster for the artist. Like, raytracing is (financially) expensive, but it's about giving the artist tools to just... put a light in the game and just have it work without having to write and tweak a million shaders. Even PBR, a similar system that predates raytracing, was about that. Taking "good graphics" out of the realm of programmers and coding and more into, like, the same way people tweak settings on their cameras.
(Pixar literally does this: the current version of their render technology actually simulates specific models of cameras and lenses)
I would think, and hope, that even though Hedgehog Engine 2 doesn't look THAT different from HE1, the tools behind it are making it easier to make levels. (Sonic Team even gave a CEDEC talk about this once called "The Level Design Forest", outlining how they were trying to optimize and simplify their level creation process.)
There are many mysteries about why Sonic games are the way they are, and we can only speculate what happens behind the scenes. Like how Takashi Iizuka has implied Sega's higher-ups won't let him make Sonic Adventure 3, or that recent tweet from Morio Kishimoto, where he reveals that there was actually a completely different director on Sonic Frontiers back when it was called "Sonic Rangers." When they changed directors and Kishimoto took over, he apparently reconfigured the entire game to become Sonic Frontiers as we know it today.
There are always a lot of factors at play in these kinds of things, and we're probably not even aware of 10% of them.

I know you're blog title is probably exaggerating, but I wanna know exactly what moments and what about them made you cry. Hold nothing back. I'm willing to read a Bible's worth of this stuff. I love hearing about how people emotionally connect to pieces of fiction in a positive way, especially if it's something near and dear to me like Sonic.
nope i am not exaggerating in the slightest lol, i've kept count for the past year
That being said, I don't remember ALL of each moments that made me cry, but I answered a similar question a year ago (back then the count was only 6 times)
I cried because Sonic reminds me of a very obscure comfort character of mine and one of the 2 people I talk to who know about this character confirm that he is exactly like him, which hits deep because they both are optimistic punk guitarists who would definitely fit My Chemical Romance's "Danger Days" album due to their life philosophies
I made a new friend recently One of my friends has been a Sonic fan longer than I've been alive, and since I got into Sonic post-Forces they said that they were glad the first game I can experience be released is Sonic Frontiers because of how massively amazing it is in comparison to how the franchise has been for the past decade
Catching up with a friend since they're working and I'm in college and they allowed me to infodump on Discord call about Sonic Frontiers... I forget WHY exactly it made me cry at the moment but like, god this game was so good and I was only WATCHING gameplay
I think more recent ones I remember have been:
Outright crying because it took me so many hours to finally beat the Master King Koco Trial (I have video of this but I don't think I'm ready to use vids of me crying for internet clout yet LMAO)
Hearing I'm Here (Revisited) for the first time and hearing the instrumental + Kellin Quinn's vocals as Eggman aims the rifle, seeing Sonic grow so powerful he defeats The End in one shot, floats through space unconscious, and lands back down onto the planet okay and finally able to be with his friends again
I'm not 100% sure about these ones, but I guarantee-ish moments I have cried were:
Watching Penny "Snapcube" Parker play Sonic Frontiers (like I've said, this is the first Sonic game I've actively followed coming out + would have just watched let's plays before realizing it looked so fun to play that I wanted it for Christmas) and her playing the entire Chaos Island storyline where Sonic admits Tails is basically his little brother and he'll miss him when he goes out on his own adventure
Sage's sacrifice + hearing Dear Father
That shot in the original ending (Penny played Hard Mode so it was getting me antsy enough to see what the ending would be after the bullet hell section) where it's just Sonic flying through the air like a shooting star; the shot of Sonic being a literal star coupled with the specific part of I'm With You that plays just looked so incredibly beautiful
While once again I'm not sure if I can name specific moments, but Sonic Frontiers is genuinely one of the best experiences I've had. For the longest time I've only played free-to-play MMOs like Wizard101 and Toontown (and also Minecraft Bedrock edition), and while I have yet to catch up to Wizard101, I've never really gotten attatched to triple A games.
Watching Penny play Sonic Frontiers, after ages of hearing that "oh this old Sonic game is the best" "eugh these past few Sonic games are terrible" and seeing a human just genuinely enjoy this fresh new game, especially as the first Sonic game that I as a newer fan was seeing experience in real time, just filled me with so much joy. Seeing each update come out to make it better and better, and seeing Frontiers completely blow itself out of the water and put Sonic on-par with other triple A games instead of being seen as a joke 24/7, it made the experience of Sonic Frontiers being my first real Sonic game so much more sweeter. And heck, it's incredibly accessible! Wizard101 is basically a card game simulator and even I with a keyboard was able to 100% it, play hard mode, and complete the DLC!
I think that in itself, seeing Frontiers as my first Sonic game and seeing how good it is, just makes the entire experience really emotional for me. How so many of my friends who've been fans longer than me are excited I get to experience the same joy they felt when they first became Sonic fans. It's like seeing an old friend that you haven't seen for a long time mixed with the sheer joy of waking up on Christmas morning during your childhood.
I have a lot of feelings about this game ;w;
EDIT: OH OH that part where Sonic grabs the giant sword and slashes Knight in half coupled with the ending of Find Your Flame 100% made me cry too

If you could be in charge of 1 short Sonic project (1 game, 1 movie, 1 TV miniseries, 1 comic miniseries, or 1 merch line) and do literally whatever you want with no restrictions, what would you do? (I only request 1 answer for 1 hypothetical project, but feel free to answer for multiple options if you're truly inspired/bored)
1 ) Music video that features every important character and continuity (Similar to the Pokemon mv "Gotcha!" from a couple years ago) If I had a better computer setup and animation knowledge I would definitely want to try something like that now tbh.
2) A honest to goodness gacha game where you can collect every character. the game play itself could be like a pvp racing game like they have now but be more focused on the character aspect like having your favorite character on the homepage talking to you visual novel style and winning outfits for them and powering them up. And limited events where you can win obscure characters. Like Magia Record but Sonic. I don't think Sega realizes just how much money they could get just from Sally or Shadow alone in a game like this
youtube
3) Surge & Kit 4-koma gag manga. Elias (and by extension the Freedom Fighters) is there.
4) Sylvanian Familes/Calico Critters playset with Sonic & Friends. soft flocking and little outfits are a must

I mean this is the most sincere way what is appealing about incest shipping or underage shipping ? I understand dead dove stuff I like dead dove but ????
Okay, genuinely thank you for asking. Not just because I like to talk about it, but because I sincerely appreciate when someone asks what the appeal of something is instead of just blanket condemning people who enjoy it. And I apologize in advance that the answer is both long and, because I do not know the sum total of human experience, incomplete.
So, someone might ship something they would never condone IRL for any number of reasons.
1. The ship appeals to you for completely different reasons. Most people don't think of characters in terms of canon age and many familial relationships are not written in a way that scans to those actual relationships. Because of that, a person might ship a set of characters "in spite" of an age gap or a familial relationship. Most Wincest shippers aren't incest kinksters, they would just ship Sam and Dean together regardless of whether or not they're supposed to be written as brothers, and literally no Sonic fan artist has ever thought about a Sonic character's age in their life.
2. The forbidden love trope. You mentioned that you like non-ship dead dove content. That tells me you probably understand that sometimes the appeal of something isn't that you want it to happen, but that it is very emotionally affecting. A romantic relationship that one or all parties involved believes is completely off the table, no matter how much they want it, can be very emotionally affecting. It works better when you would also agree that that relationship shouldn't happen and having it be something you would condemn IRL does a good job of that.
In my experience, this also works very well as a queer metaphor. I don't like stories where the only reason two girls don't get together is because of internalized homophobia. But, as a lesbian, I do experience that same internalized homophobia. So I have an easier time connecting those feelings to a story where two girls resist getting together because they're related instead.
3. You have some kind of kink. I won't lie, this is the case for some people. Human brains eroticize taboo subjects, especially ones that a person has a past trauma with. This is normal and healthy. And anyone with a guro or inflation kink (or, hell, a furry) can tell you it doesn't mean you want it to happen to someone for real.
For many people this one applies to, they actually project on the would-be victim of the situation rather than the perpetrator (the younger party, the student, etc). Most of the people shipping Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask together in the 92 anime didn't want to groom middle schoolers, they wanted to pretend to be a middle schooler with a cool college aged boyfriend. (Though I should note, this does not mean people projecting onto Tuxedo Mask would be doing anything wrong. No one is being hurt, which is the important thing.)
4. It helps you cope. Projecting your trauma onto fictional characters, using fictional scenarios to play out events similar to your trauma, or even writing new, happy endings to things that happened to you, are all documented ways therapists and psychiatrists recommend coping with and healing from trauma. They allow someone to take control of what happened to them.
5. Spite. Look, is it pretty? No. But sometimes you want to do something harmless just because someone told you you can't. I feel like this also applies to crackships. Like, if someone's out there shipping Gary Oak with Delia Ketchum just because they thought it would be funny, that's a valid reason to do it. Of someone genuinely enjoys shipping Dib and Zim together solely because someone told them it was immoral and they thought that was ridiculous, that's valid.
These are generalities and specific people can talk about specific ships in more detail. And there are probably other reasons that don't fit into these categories that I don't know about or didn't think about. But these are the big ones that I know about, and none of them require ever thinking those relationships would be acceptable IRL.

Fey's Pokémon Rue-minations: Bottom 10 Gen 1 Moves
I warned you, didn't I?
I'm not going to include obvious ones, like Splash. These are a special flavor of Hell, not just ones that are glitchy or intentionally non-functional. These are moves which either fail to understand how the game is played or moves which force the game into directions it didn't need to go.
#10: Moves Which Require (Re-)Charging
Dig · Fly · Hyper Beam · Razor Wind · Skull Bash · Sky Attack · Solar Beam
These moves are all cool, but they run into a problem with the mechanics of the games: you can switch out a Pokémon instead of having it perform a move. Almost no NPC trainers do this, so these moves are fine to use. The so-called "semi-invulnerable" turn in this generation is closer to true invulnerability, as the only move that can hit a Pokémon during such turns is Swift. Thus, against NPCs, Dig and Fly have some tactical use. However, because switching out when faced with a bad matchup is how competitive play works, most of these moves are actually useless. In Gen I, Hyper Beam doesn't need a recharge if it KOs a target, so it also has tactical uses.
Razor Wind would get remade as Air Slash and a few similar moves later on. Skull Bash is a duplicate of Headbutt. Solar Beam loses its charging turn in harsh sunlight. There not really any replacements for the rest; Game Freak never stopped using this mechanic, even though it sucks.
#9: OHKO Moves
Fissure · Guillotine · Horn Drill
I'm not sure if these are banned in competitive play or not. They should be, as they take the fun out of the prediction and counter gameplay essential to the game. They also rely too heavily on luck, with their abysmal Accuracy. If you're using these moves, you are saying that you have nothing better to do.
#8: Low Accuracy Attacks
[insert ridiculously long list here]
In a game where accuracy is literally everything, to the point that raising evasion is banned, when there is always a move with a decent accuracy that you can use, the existence of these is infuriating.
It's one thing when the accuracy check is for a status move so that the game can give a poor equivalent of a saving throw (resisting an effect). That's annoying, but a worthwhile mechanic. This is just wasting your turn.
#7a: Moves that Raise Evasion
Double Team · Minimize
I like these moves, but they're banned. Accuracy and Evasion are annoying mechanics, ergo no one likes to play with them. As they are separate mechanics, there really isn't a way to lower Evasion in Gen I, so you render yourself nigh-invincible. (I'm unsure if the presence of such in Gens II onward changed the ban, sadly.)
#7b: Moves that Lower Accuracy
Flash · Kinesis · Sand Attack
For some reason, even though the logic is identical (there is no way to raise accuracy in Gen I through a move), these weren't banned. This probably has to do with the fact that 1.) you can switch out of it and 2.) since it impacts the opponent and not the user, the opponent is more likely to get lucky and hit than if the user had used Double Team. Even so, these are really fucking annoying.
#6: Moves that Deal a Fixed Amount of Damage
Dragon Rage · Night Shade · Seismic Toss · Sonic Boom
I'm honestly not sure why these moves exist. I have theorized that this was a means of giving Ghost a special and a physical move in the same generation, but that was the extent of my reasoning. It doesn't make sense with Dragon Rage, since it negates the fact that Dragon is weak to itself; it especially doesn't make sense with Seismic Toss, since Fighting has no good moves, or Sonic Boom, since Normal has too many moves as it is.
#5: Moves that Lock You into Repeating the Move for Multiple Rounds
Petal Dance · Rage · Thrash · etc.
If there's one thing that's more annoying than not being able to hit, it's being locked out of the UI. "Partial" trapping moves are one thing; they work for however long and aren't worse for it each turn they go on. However, because of opponent switching, these moves are terrible.
#4: Moves with Recoil/Crash Damage
Double-Edge · High Jump Kick · Jump Kick · Submission · Take Down
Why are we hurting ourselves just to land an attack? Also, notice how all of these are either Fighting or Normal. Fighting doesn't have a good high-power move, while Normal has a bunch of duplicates of Body Slam that don't need to exist. What was the point of making these?
#3: Crabhammer
Crabhammer could have been great. But it's not a Bug-type move.
There's really no reason why Krabby and Kingler -- for whom this move was signature until Gen III -- are not Bug-types; Game Freak has a mysterious habit of making crustaceans anything besides Bug (all while making non-arthropods like Shuckle Bug-types), but Anorith/Armaldo and Dwebble/Crustle are both crustaceous Bug-types. But they weren't; they were mono-Water. As such, they couldn't receive adequate STAB until Gen IV, by which point the game is almost fundamentally different.
Had Crabhammer been a Bug-type move -- or, even better, had it been a Bug-type move that could also be treated as a Water-type move (depending on circumstances) and was still physical -- then Psychics would largely get checked. Or maybe they wouldn't, since they usually carry Electric-type moves, but they'd have a theoretical counter at the very least, especially if Kingler found a means of not dying immediately.
#2: Lick
In Gen I, there were three Ghost-type moves: Confuse Ray, Lick, and Night Shade. One of these things is not like the other one.
In theory, all three of these should have been signature moves of the Gastly line, given that they were the only Ghost-types in the generation. Confuse Ray (thankfully) had much broader representation, so wasn't. Night Shade was. Was Lick? No.
...Jynx also learned it.
Tumblr media
You would think that Lick would be a Normal-type move and the signature move of Lickitung, the Licking Pokémon, whose entire, unwanted gimmick is licking things with its tongue (not even swallowing them, just licking them). Lickitung appears in Period 1 of the internal index; it's several spots ahead of Gengar and two rows (nearly three) before Gastly, neither of which were related to each other that early in development. If it's not solely based on a lizard of some sort, Lickitung is likely based on the akaname, a yokai with a gigantic tongue that licks grime out of bathhouses.
It doesn't learn Lick until Gen II.
The idea of ghosts licking things is a trope that spans East Asia and even appears occasionally in Western cinema and such, but the former is a relatively obscure trope and the latter is done for comic relief and grossness more than anything. Ghosts, both in other narratives and in Pokémon, first and foremost rely on scaring the shit out of their targets. But Astonish wouldn't be a Ghost-type move until Gen III.
Lick itself doesn't even make sense -- 30% paralysis chance? If anything, it should be a Normal-type move with very low or even no damage and a close to automatic chance to cause the target to flinch. It's a stupid move.
But beyond being stupid, it locked the Ghost type into being a physical type even though all Ghost-types were specially oriented (and so couldn't use physical moves that well) up until Gen III, when we got several new Ghosts with lackluster stats: Shedinja and Banette are both physical attackers with no other good stats, Dusclops is highly defensive with poor stats otherwise, and Sableye's stats are relatively well-rounded for something not fully evolved (when it doesn't evolve at all). The good Ghost-types were specially focused and, especially given move pools, may as well have been Psychic-types.
The thing is, Ghost could have been a physical type from the get-go anyway: Golbat (bat, vampire, vampire bat) and Marowak (spooky scary skeleton, warrior channeling ancestors) could have been Ghost-types, as could have been Leech Life (which should have had a higher power anyway or had an improved equivalent) and Bone Club/Bonemerang. If these were the case, Lick wouldn't matter.
But it does. Because it screwed over a type.
#1: Self-Destruct/Explosion
Self-Destruct and Explosion are moves which annoy the Hell out of me for several reasons.
First, they're not uncommon. Lots of Pokémon which have no logical explanation for blowing up do so. Explosion isn't limited to things which are or could easily become bombs -- Voltorb/Electrode, Exeggcute, and Koffing/Weezing. Rock-types have a habit of exploding despite being made out of rocks, which by and large do not. Lots of lines get the move when only one member (Exeggcute, Seedot) make sense as having it. Shellder can learn it. If we expand our search to include Self-Destruct, we get still more users -- like Snorlax or Mewtwo, neither of which should have a self-destruct mechanism. Vanilluxe can learn it; it's freaking ice-cream.
Second, they're absurdly powerful. They're so powerful that making sure you have a Pokémon that can handle explosions somehow becomes a major component in team building, at least early on. After all, some Pokémon exist solely to give the user the chance to have them explode. Others aren't especially great attackers, but hey, they can at least take down one opponent. This is something I really hate, as it forces me to pick from a subset of Pokémon I may or may not want to use just to avoid having the Pokémon that otherwise would have a good type matchup not die because my opponent went kamikaze on me.
Third, they're redundant. Pokémon is no stranger to creating upgraded versions of the same moves, but Self-Destruct didn't need an upgrade. Since both halve the targets' Defense stats, they both are guilty of having the effectively highest Powers in the game -- and they were already contenders for that without the Defense bypass.
Fourth, they'd make sense as Fire-type moves, but aren't. They deal Normal (neutral) damage. This means Ghosts are immune to them (fine), but Rocks resist. I mean, sure Rock would still resist it if if were a Fire-type move, but Game Freak is aware that we use explosions quite effectively to break apart rock, right?
I don't find the prospect of being very close to a KO only for my opponent to randomly become powerful enough to KO my Pokémon in addition to itself. Either you let your opponent kill you or you take them out first, not both.

Road to Cream 64 v1 Part 6-4: We Are the EggJams
Tumblr media
As if it wasn't obvious but keeping here for consistency.
youtube
Bowser in the Dark World: Sonic Adventure 2 - Crush 'Em All (Weapons Bed)
BitDW is also one of those stages that keeps on getting a brand new track with each update, I think literally this time around. But the general theme I wanted was something industrial so any Eggman track from SA2 could've worked here. I know I used a track from Shadow's game in the latest build but it still has similar vibes.
youtube
Bowser in the Fire Sea: Sonic 3D Blast - Volcano Valley Act 1 (Saturn)
I feel I got a bit lucky with this one, having just done a saturn playthrough around the time of working on v1. Plus it's rarely that I get to use anything from this game's soundtrack, especially the Saturn version.
A big ol' climb up this weird lava platforming section with orchestral music happenin'. Seems pretty fitting. If I had to swap it, I guess it would be for the second act.
youtube
Bowser in the Sky: Sonic Mania - Steel Cortex (Titanic Monarch Act 2)
This is the final climb, just you and your skills. Can't fly through it just yet so you're at the mercy of this game's level design. All while this track is playing does give me the heebee jeebees. There was thoughts of using Act 1 (and I still kind of considered it for v4) but Act 2 just feels more final, which it should be.
Plus it paired up nicely with the actual final boss theme of the hack. A nice one-two punch for the final Eggman fight. I don't regret changing it to the current track that's used in the latest build but sometimes I wish I could give an option to swap songs for those who wanna experience it.
youtube
Bowser 1: Sonic Adventure - Theme of Eggman
Your first encounter with Eggy and his Egg Koopa, might as well use the classic theme. Yes, you could argue that his SA2 theme is more iconic, but I enjoy the instrumentation of the SA1 theme better in this case.

Bowser 2: Sonic Heroes - Egg Emperor
Surrounded by lava, a platform as wobbly as your moveset, and the hard guitar riffs echoing throughout the fight, yeah boi it's the Egg Emperor theme!
I haven't used alot of tracks for Sonic Heroes so another case of wanting to even out my track selection. I think even then, I still would've used it cause it works great as a "he's not messing around!" kind of track.

Eggman 3: Sonic Mania - Ruby Illusions
The rainbow colors are in effect, the stage is ready to crumble at your feet, you're one final fight away from saving your mom, are you ready? God, I love this track so much and the mood it sets. Tee Lopes, you son of a bitch, why you so good?
It's been one of those tracks I've left since the beginning but I've had ideas on changing it for another track, but right now it's still uncertain. It's just too good! One of those I need to eventually put in-game first to get an idea before swapping it.

Ending: Sonic Advance 3 - Ending A Credits: Sonic Advance 3 - Staff Roll
I'm actually pretty proud of the first one. The opening melody is still the same as OG SM64 but when Vanilla appears, it transitions to the Ending A midi. Did have a bit of trouble select which instruments to use and the sudden change in timing messing up when the songs in -game but I'm really happy with the final result.
SAd3's ending was something I couldn't pass up. Aside from it being linked back to Cream (if you got the best ending), it's a really nice sendoff to the Advance series in general and felt just as appropriate here. I actually had to edit the original version to fit the SM64 credits and once I had to swap tracks for midis to save space, this ended up being one of them.
There was only one midi I found of this that sounded good and it never finished properly, just looped. So I had to actually manually adjust it myself to make sure it ends just like the song. After that was done, then just a matter of aligning instruments and honestly, god I dunno how I managed to pull it off but I can't seem to even go back and edit it again. Dedication to the project.
Tumblr media
There's probably a few tracks I forgot here and there but I will probably get to them in later parts since I do make some more changes down the line. But I hope this four part madness was a fun little ride.
Next Part should be the end of v1, just getting into the last bits before publishing and eventually talking about the SM64 PC Port and that whole mess.

Award for Best Multiplayer Games
Apex Legends
Nobody knew Apex Legends even existed in January; the popular consensus has been that Fortnite would go on to reign just like the master of the entire battle royale hill, but Respawn and EA truly had different objectives. The very first battle royale with personalities has pushed the form onto the battle royale scenario like Wal-Mart shoppers looking to be first in line on Black Friday, but now that we've spent enough time with the game title, Apex Legends deserves to be right there. All of our Apex Legends critiques explain literally why the latest free-to-play label has become a welcome inclusion for over 25 million enthusiasts worldwide, along with how it shakes up the genre as we know it.
Tumblr media
Way back in October 2016, Respawn released Titanfall 2 (opens in a new tab). Despite truly being in all probability the perfect multiplayer fps for the current generation of internet platforms, this massively undersold and quite a popular part of the video gaming world just didn't enjoy achieving the bliss of wall-running across entire multiplayer game maps at velocities Sonic the Hedgehog could simply dream about. It had been assumed that since EA decided to buy out Respawn, the staff might be improving Titanfall 3. While this is undoubtedly true, Apex Legends was released as a stopgap before the franchise's third name. Because Apex Legends is set in the Titanfall universe, many of the visuals are taken directly from Titanfall 2. Many of the best Apex Legends weapons (opens in a new tab) have previously appeared in the series, albeit with some nerfs. That is a necessary change, though, because whereas the Titanfall games are arena shooters where you can respawn and get straight into the action in a split second, Apex Legends isn't similar to that. People devote time to looting up; each play is truly a battle for success, not only for who can rack up the most kills.

The battle royale market has rapidly become saturated since the release of PUBG. Apex Legends is truthfully going toe-to-toe by incorporating the primary little games in the market at the moment: Fortnite, PUBG, Blackout, Ring of Elysium, and the list goes on. Respawn claims that Apex Legends has been improving since spring 2017, meaning that the product they've produced is very polished. You will find zero coverage of the early access teething hassles going on. It's got some issues like if you revive a person for the moving supply cruise ship, you clip through and hover in mid-air; however, for the most part, it is an authentic AAA battle royale video game, and it can feel that mode, which can't be said for most of the gaming titles trying to make waves.
Tumblr media
Titanfall is known for the gigantic mechs that aircraft pilots can control and overcome the battlefield with, so anytime information arrived on the scene that Titans had been left out of Apex Legends, it started an uproar. While Forte is unmistakably a Titanfall title, Apex Legends is not. It truly is just emerging in precisely the same arena. Only trained aviators can use titans in Titanfall lore, whereas here you begin as a legend competing in the "Apex Games."It may seem even stranger that wall-running isn't a feature; despite not being bothered by the decrease in titans, even I have been apprehensive about not being ready to wall-run. Hurtling around a large map and making the most of every surface seemed like a good way to differentiate Apex Legends from other gaming titles, but after playing for a long time daily since launch, Respawn has made the correct choice. In a multiplayer arena shooter game, if at any time you fail to kill someone who flies across the edge and blasts anyone across the face with a handgun, you can say "well played" and rapidly respawn to go to that person and acquire vengeance. Battle royale games do not work that way. It is possible to spend up to 15 minutes looting and searching for the appropriate accessories; therefore, the fact that you can be killed in an instant by a person primarily hovering over the game map will be nothing short of infuriating. Despite the lack of fall damage and the ability to scale walls, the fluid motion experience that you would expect from a Titanfall arena game title is achieved.
Buy cheap PS4 games with the best deals.
And that's because it is a Titanfall game. Both Titanfall gaming titles were firmly established during the Frontier War, which involved numerous factions, including the IMC, Frontier Militia, Apex Predators, and others. It survived for a long time and ended at some tipping point concerning the Battle of Typhon—the events in Titanfall 2—and the Apex Games, which happens to be the focal point of Apex Legends. So a competitive bloodsport includes emerging, because that is a logical length of advancement, directly? Framing it in this manner helps to make the entire game-play encounter feel like a different version of The Hunger Games. Every game has a "champion," who is anyone who has won their most recent valuable tournament and also has a 500 XP bounty on their head. There's also a "Kill Leader," who is, as you might expect, the new lady who is leading the increasing number of murders. All this is truthfully revealed via an excellent loudspeaker ecosystem, which boosts the environment in which you excel in Apex Legends.
Call of Duty Warzone
In the Warzone variant of Battle Royale, the usual 100-person limit has been increased to 150 to accommodate the three-man task force set up. Similar to EA's response to Apex Legends, Activision appears to promote longevity through social connection. The longer you're together, the better everything else is. Camping isn't a fine spectator sport, and the larger the team, the more likely it is for a single soldier with a temper to rebel against the norm. The stress of a team situation will not benefit the stressed lone wolf. However, a "Mute all" control key is visible to shut off potential bad power.
Tumblr media
A solo mode has been rolled alfresco in a patch post-release; however, as it could indeed be removed again at any time, be prepared to play in a squad queue at some point in your job. After all, you cannot expect everyone to enjoy their alone time enough to end up being dependent on a set group. If you want an approach that resembles a marine with a few pats on the back, forms a pre-made team. However, you have to accept the fact that gaming is, in truth, a fun activity for some and not a job.
The few respawn options available after having too many chests, on the other hand, will benefit the astute player. Squads can pick up injured teammates, and even if you break down as part of your accident, that does not mean you are out of the tournament. If you die, you're transported to the Gulag, a map that most Modern Warfare 2 players are probably familiar with. They can be right there to use their particular flexibility in a one-on-one match. Loadouts are randomized every time, which means it's necessary to alter your current typical dueling strategies to have a shot at winning. If you win, you'll get a second chance in the industry. You can either lose your chance or be the victim of another fall, and your remaining coalition can toss some foraged cash into a local dispenser box to help you return another time. Due to the existing element during a time when Sandbox survival games were gaining popularity, the battle royale category earned a place in the video game hall of fame. The notion that death means death was akin to the tired cover of the run-and-gun strategies used by most online shooters. It's intriguing to find out how players gradually alter this delicate equilibrium of games, but these second-chance physics will go a long way to increase player retention.
Tumblr media
Without a ranked time of year, top-tier fans will continue to play alongside less competent and relative beginners, denying the other 99 percent the opportunity to see the outcome of an event. All in all, exactly where's the enjoyment in throwing the ball into the bucket much faster than it would take to fill the lobby? This is what Call of Duty has done in this regard, which may not be a sign that it truly is in the best interests of the advantages, but rather a way to give people who aren't inclined to compete for a reason to stick around. Professionals in the top e-sports leagues do not rely on respawns to make it to the highest level. The only thing they can accomplish is to make it possible for more people to be able to experience the game while increasing the tips of the champions. But a consistent provision of meat for the grinder isn't the only thing Warzone truly does to shake up the old formula. Are you feeling lonely, or do you prefer not to have a companion to help you regain your stamina? You can spend the money on your preferred killstreaks or ammo, as well as additional armor if you anticipate an intense fight. The insanity of massive killstreaks being pulled outside of Slim by air will become as frustrating as any other regular game; however, it's difficult to ignore the excitement that purchasable killstreaks can add to an already predictable game. Battle Royale fanatics have etched an intricately planned script to ensure its success over time, and anything that can shake the norm can give Warzone the chance to share a space with the classic titles as time passes. There's more still. Loadouts that enter the industry regularly reward players who play in a high-risk environment. They are similar to the airdrops found in the most popular Battle Royale games on the market, but instead of providing randomized high-tier loot for everyone to fight over, they bring a selection of pre-determined loadouts and a maximum arsenal of battle-ready equipment and tools to help anyone right back into the game. Warzone comes with tiered loot, just as do the other titles. It's not clear at this point what one rarity of weapon displays over another, but you can be sure that the guns that are found in the various caches around the area come with significantly more add-ons than your average assault rifle. There are also legal agreements and missions that you'll see in the field that can be completed with a bit of extra funding about the tarmac. They mark the locations of targets (such as loot caches or enemy groups) on the maps, giving teams an extra incentive to risk human life and limb on the streets in search of ways to start a fight. Exploration is truly a big aspect of an enjoyable battle royale experience, and Warzone will do all it can to facilitate and promote the breakout of brutality. It sounds like a stressful experience, but that's exactly why I consider it to be ahead of other game providers about the player's and the viewer's involvement. There will hardly ever be a dull minute.

Why I love sonadow
(Haven't talked about/posted about my love of sonic on this blog but go figures I'd write about my fav ship first before literally anything else-)
So this is mostly a ramble, but I a few points to make on why exactly why I love this ship and just basically rambling about every little details that make the ship so lovable in the first place.
So for starters, I love this ship, and I'm willing to sail on it till it sinks. I find their dynamic quite entertaining as the two work as a competitive duo, have a really nice dynamic, and the two are pretty similar in terms of ideals and the fact that it's very much hammered in that shadow is one, if not maybe the only one, who is only equal playing field with sonic. I find that it's very refreshing to see someone who isn't always left behind his trail, and can actually keep up and even RIVAL that of sonic.
After the events of SA2 what started my true love for this ship statted to form. It was during the very final ending. (Of course the small seeds of banter and how sonic would influence shadow to slowly becoming his best self as well as shadow slowly gaining respect for the blue blur also made me love it-but this is what got me on board y'know?)
-I remember the fight where sonic and shadow team up to defeat the bio-lizard and I loved the cute little lines the two shared during the battle.
Sonic's little "are you okay?" And "you need rest! Let me handle this!" lines are just so wholesome- it's just a cute detail that I feel gets overlooked. You usually don't see these sides of sonic anymore, and it's so hilarious that he's saying this all while shadow is too busy monolouging- it's so sweet.
I find it very endearing that even though he should be focusing on defeating the bio-lizard like shadow is, he just spends his time worrying about shadows wellbeing. (Shadow does the same for sonic, just less often.)
Also, during the sonic q&a shadow's treasured moments is of sonic attempting to save him which I find also very endearing. (Sonic's reaction was also very cute.) Though the topic of sonadow was brought up and them immediately dismissed made me feel really sad, but I'm okay with that fact anyhow as I can understand why.
Theres also that one poster of shadow and sonic being a "swashbuckling duo" which I know everyone thinks about the "swashbuckling" part but they all skip over the "duo." Like, it's just those 2. There is a reality where these 2 are together, not only as pirates (MY FLAG MEANS DEATH-) but as a DUO??! Meaning not only are they working together on a LITERAL SHIP, but also- they are known to go swashbuckling adventures together. Also shadow is the captain and I can't state it enough how I love the fact that THIS IS A THINGGGG!!!!
(I know this is far fetched, but let's be real- the only pirates that exist in the sonic games are sonic rush. Hey, if there's 2 versions of sonic why not make it 3?)
Also, let's not forget sonic's "looking out the window scenes" and the his talk with Rouge about shadow (he called him a hero, and honestly that is the sweetest most saddest thing I've heard in very in a very long time), as well as his "sayonra shadow the hedgehog"
Rouge spent more time with shadow than sonic so understanbly she'd understand sonics sadness as these 2 have spent more time with shadow than anyone else (I'm not counting eggman, he is an enabler and helped lead shadow down a self-destrutive and literally destructive path. He doesn't count, not ever will he count.)
It's just Sonics tiny gestures of greif, like looking out through that window, the Sayanora when no one was around, the small "are you okay?" ,and sassy banter between the two is just so sweet, fun and entertaining to see.
(This is a bit more on shadow but I feel it's a necessary part into understanding why this works so well-)
Also, shadow's writing has been fluctuating in quality almost as much as sega's own games. It's safe to assume the consensus that shadow is the "angry edgelord who hates sonic for some random reason and always fights him beacuse bla bla bla" isn't very true and I feel like that idea is what really makes this ship weird for some other people. (Or it's just not the type of ship they'd like, which is fine by me.)
Shadow, to put it simple.. is a very compassionate character with a lot of trauma put on him. He didn't know how to handle/process that trauma, and spending like what? 50 years, trapped in an isolated cell, unaging, left alone with no one to help him escape, getting your memories tampered with, having your ego fed with the "ultimate lifeform" stuff, as well as having noway to talk, cope, or even process the fact that your best freind- the only person that has (to my knowledge) treated you like an actuall conscious being, that isn't a weapon or some science project to get some cure- just got murdered by you guessed it! Humans! Not to mention the leader of the "humans" aka the government led this???!!
It puts a pretty sour taste in your mouth if you ask me.
So when I see the edgelord shit really ticks me off. Beacuse at the end of it all, shadow isn't really sonic's rival (even that one Lego sonic spinoff game literally refers to shadow as sonic's "freind" along with amy, knuckles and tails like come ON people!!) He's just another one of his freinds.
Besides, shadows been through about mabye 3 whole identity crisises? Which in my book is more than enough for shadow to either be gay or trans(cis or not) and honestly it's quite fitting.
Not to mention, as a mlp fan, I have to say.. the amount of comparisons I can make to blue gay pony and the blue maybe gay hedgehog is far to many. (I mean for crying out loud- the chaos emeralds are literally the colors of the rainbow, and sonic is about a few furry points away from shoots rainbow lasers at his enemy's yknow?)
(Also the soundrack escape the city has "follow my rainbow" lyrics randomly in that track, and so I cant unhear/unsee the idea of like- running away from you home beacuse your not accepted or whatever- and it's all like "follow me" and "set me free" and what not and it just *chef kiss*! Like, yah foo! "Set me free" from the realityy~~ so we can bee togetherrr foreverrr~~?? Or somethimg??)
Also to drive this thing home, sonic is literally shadow's adventure.
Though it was thanks to his popularity that allowed him to revive from thy dead, I do think it was an understatement to say that in some ways he didn't have fun around sonic while he was alive.
The whole "faker" stuff was quite a fun banter in my opinion, and sonic is one of the most frequent non-team dark character shadow communicates with.
(Going on about the "faker" stuff: though I don't have any recollection or proof of it, but if shadow has infact called sonic "faker" atleast once, it's actually more endearing than as an insult he tries to pose it as. The whole conversation went as "faker? Your not even good enough to be my fake!" (Which is a hilarious way to say, "no u") so saying that would be admitting that sonic of all creatures has met the guy's standards.. Which I find oddly amusing.)
It's conversations where it's just the two of them (like the iconic "what you see is what you get!" Scene) where I see those cracks in his "too Kool 4 skool" and the "dark, mysterious edgy boy" persona fall.
Though the facade doesn't really start to fall apart until later on in the game (and never gets as far as Rouge and omega do) it's safe to say that makes sonic the 4th (well technically the 2nd or 1st) character that shadow might be okay with letting his guard down around.
I guess there's a part of me that really wants this to work. I like the pining aspect it brings, the angst and well as the wholesome. I like to see shadow happy, and I like to see sonic happy as well. What really got me going is the saying that they're equals in a way. They don't "complete" eachother but they complement eachother in a good way.
They're similar yet different, and their different views of the world can show the other another side, a darker and lighter side to the world they live in. Sonic gives shadow that light and shadow give sonic that dark. Yin & yang.
I don't think they HAVE to be romantic with eachother, I like the idea of it, (mostly beacuse I like picturing them watching late night movies together like the night owls I just know they are!) But them being freindly rivals everynow and then, or just freinds is good enough for me as well. ( I enjoy all sides of this sonadow pizza pie.)
I find it nice that they have this unstoppable duo vibe, like nothing can really take em down when they're together. I like the fact that (don't quote me on this as im sure where I heard it from-) at times it's said that even their thoughts catch up with one another (ADHD headcannon for sonic and ADD for shadoww~) and I find that they're just so in sync it's amusing.
Also I love thinking about sonic being this sassy, talkative, distracted mess of a hedgehog whilst shadow is the dresses to impress, not as talkative and probably hyperfocuses on way to much stuff, secretly a softie, also mess of a hedgehog. Add mess + mess = more mess and I love it! It's like a spaghetti and meatballs! Both make a big mess when handled improperly but when cooked by someone who knows what they're doing, it tastes delicious.
And that's my ted-talk on my little hyperfixation of my favorite ship. I needed to get it out and I hope maybe someone finds this and considers this maybe one of their favorites too!
