Fellas I think the brainrot got me in a special way this time with the Saints of Eyes and Ears
Here’s a little breakdown of the Saint Grian of the Desert Sun, First Saint of the Church of Watchers and the Third Book. He’s the patron of people who are betrayed, of people who work behind the scenes, and of people who suffer for the sake of their debts.
The Saint is most commonly depicted in paintings either about to martyr himself (top left) or clutching the body of Scar of the Desert, the man he killed and was indebted to (bottom).
His symbols are the sun in a clear sky, or with clouds fleeing its light, blooming cacti, lit matches, and other burning things. Stigmata associated with him are marks like bruised knuckles, dried blood (especially under fingernails), tear streaks, or scuff marks consistent with falling from a great height.
Close-ups and transcriptions of my chicken scratch handwriting below the cut
Tumblr media
Saint Grian of the Desert Sun, First canonized Saint, Third Book, Self-martyred
Most commonly depicted right before his self-martyrdom
Tumblr media
Stigmata resembles bloodied hands, blood under fingernails, and bruised knuckles
Commonly depicted in stained glass with his symbols of the blooming cactus and the lit match with eyes closed
Tumblr media
The oldest intact painting of Saint Grian and Scar of the Desert, dated shortly after the widespread publication of the Third Book

[ID: A cartoon drawing of Slimecicle and Juanaflippa, she's on Slime's arms as she has a blank stare at his shoulder, her body is loose as Slime has one hand on the top of her head (the other arm holding her by the side of her torso) he has a disturbed / scared / shocked expression, looking up, not at her, his brows furrowed, his pupils are unfocused. There's blood that has the color of a TV glitch, it's coming from Juana's head, and is on Slime's hand, that is holding her close to him. The TV glitch colours are on Juana's pupils as well. Juana has a human appareance, brown hair tied in 2 pigtails, she has glasses, a yellow t-shirt, a red shirt under, she has some dark green shoes, combining with a skirt of the same color, white baggy socks. She has red horns, wings and tail dragon-like. The background is black, a TV-static texture coming from Slime's head. There are 2 lines resembling their heart's pulse, first one is white, it's from Slime, its a quick one, going up and down, agitated, and the second is from Flippa, a pink line with no sign of life. The drawing is a reference to a painting called "Ivan the Terrible and his son Ivan". ]

Heyy!! I don’t know if you still do Chrollo fics , but if you’re doing recommendations/commissions , can you make something like where the readers like “do you think you’ll kill for me one day?” and he’s like “yes. of course I will my darling” ?? It’s based off a sound I heard somewhere .. I think the song is called “I want it all” by Lana del ray. Thank you!! 🫶
damn he really would say that huh?
Bad Habit.
Yan Chrollo x F Reader.
Synopsis: “Where there is carnage, there is beauty.”
Warnings: Yandere themes, unhealthy relationships, general anxiety and uneasiness, references to disturbing works of art (Saturn Devouring His Son, The Nightmare, Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan), manipulation, and talks of violence.
Word Count: 900.
*~*~*~*
There are as many things people can see as beautiful as there are shades of light shining through a prism.
Spectrums are quite common along with comparison and placement. It varies greatly from person to person, their preferences and their life experiences and their joys, and their fears.
Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, yes, but the eye of the beholder is also the window to their soul, to their psychological responses and traumas and memories of a past that would rather either be forgotten or worshiped. Every soul is different, and there is beauty in that. So, why do you find the heart and soul of Chrollo Lucilfer, whom many would call beautiful if they never knew him for what he truly is, so, so simply lovely? It does not have to do with his mannerisms or his confidence or his knowledge of virtually everything in this world, you concluded one day, after receiving yet another call from him, with him, as always, asking general questions like if you miss him and such. It is because he is the only thing I can cling to that will stay here, with me.
You cling onto him like a lost puppy, yearning for any sort of affection they can get no matter the cost. You did that when he first transported you from one place to another with hardly regarding any words from you on the matter. You do that now, in this art museum, full of unfamiliar faces and unfamiliar artwork and unfamiliar architecture. You missed home, back then. You still do now, and Chrollo still does not care one bit.
His hand is like a cuff, his arm like a chain, as he walks with you from one room to the next. But, still, it is the only thing that keeps you from falling apart.
So, like a sort of dance, you two move in sync. It is up to Chrollo as to if or when you will stop. It is never up to you, after all.
Does Chrollo enhance the horrific allure of these paintings, or does he once again bring all the attention to himself?
*~*~*~*
“Mythology often comes from our own woes.” He says, pointing upward, slowly, to Cronos’s eyes, which are bloodshot and large and dark. “A popular theory was that Goya was representing an oppressive government through Kronos, and the son that was prophesized to kill him as an adult represented the people who had started to revolt. But others don’t see it that way, oddly enough.”
You don’t respond, you simply look at the beheaded infant, which looks so soft and so rotten at the same time, with blood and deskinned chewed flesh running down his neck. He fits into his father’s hands perfectly, like he was made to be eaten.
*~*~*~*
“While most incubi are written and drawn as physically attractive creatures, this one in particular looks more akin to a gargoyle than that of a man.” He hums, and you can feel his hand wrap more tightly around yours. Not so much in a strangling, hurtful way, but rather just in a sort of reminderful way. “Maybe Fuseli was trying to make sure that the point of what the incubus really is is sent across to the viewers?”
With not a single word coming out of your mouth, a sure sign that you are zoning out his words, he squeezes a bit tighter to get your attention back where he wants it to be.
“What do you think, beloved?”
Once again, instead of answering, you choose to remain silent and focus your attention on other things. So, you look around. To the floor. To your high heels. Everything else, anything else. Only silence remains for a few more moments, but when the silence is not enjoyed any longer with another increase in his grip, you decide to answer before you get yourself into trouble.
“...I… I think that maybe it deals with sleep paralysis.”
Chrollo widens his eyes and smirks, and from those actions alone you know you have created a believable lie and concept that is sure to be amusing to him.
You’re forgiven.
*~*~*~*
“Historians say that the son’s death was the point of no return for Ivan.” A cradling of the arms and a Cat’s Cradle are the same; they both trap those within them.
Eyes are still eyes, whether they are real or not. Ivan the Terrible’s show a thousand tragedies and a thousand other faces his destiny could have worn, if he pushed the other one aside, if he had the strength to.
“Just like how Ivan was his son’s undoing, his son was also his.”
*~*~*~*
“...Would you ever kill for me?”
Violence is often not the only path Chrollo can choose to take. His words can be another, albeit that road will be much longer, and less smooth.
Who knows what he will choose when the hour of the heist comes to fruition when the art can finally be grasped and never let go of?
Which path do you prefer?
Which path does he prefer?
Do you prefer to be threatened with sweet honey that sticks to your skin or is so hot that it burns it?
“Of course, my dear.”
What you find grotesque, like the way the topic of violence is spoken so naturally from you and him, Chrollo always seems to find beautiful, like the way your moving lips are so lush.
Paintings are often just a reflection of how the world is, after all.

*slides in* Hi! First of all: I love your art forever and ever it is so beautiful and gorgeous to me. It's my favourite ever. Also, inspired by your recent posts of Fel carrying Osiris, I was thinking... How about drawing a pietà scene with them? Or maybe with Red and Fel, that would be more thematically correct for a pietà.
ALSO also: I remember quite a while ago, you posted drawing of our favourite Hunters as hunters from Bloodborne (and what amazing pictures they are!!! I drooled over them for hours I swear) and you wondered in the tags how Exos would even work in a setting like that? I forget your exact wording but whatever. I present to you: the concept of steampunk Exos! Steam powered, even. Bloodborne is seemingly based on Victorian England, so it could work! Possibly. Maybe. If they can do weird blood magic they can do steampunk Exos :)
Anyway! Thank you for continuing to show us your beautiful art and I hope you have a nice day 💖
Aah, thank you!! 🥺💙
Well that's an interesting idea, I'm writing it odwn! I sometimes think about doing homages of some artworks, but I always feel like... it's too much responsibility maybe?.. I feel like I have to make it look absolutely flawless and that's utterly impossible, so I'm scared to even try and mostly just rotate all the ideas in my head, lol. For example, with Red and Fel I was thinking about redrawing Repin's "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan", since it's. well, pretty much exactly what happened akjsdhfkj (It's an extremely famous painting in Russia, portraying tsar Ivan the Terrible, who accidentally killed his own son in a fit of anger and got absolutely devastated once he realized what he's done. Tbh it's so well-fitting that I've always wondered if it was an intentional reference to that story from Bungie. Most likely no, but still! Very on point.)
There's one painting though, which I think I can actually make a homage of... Mostly because I wanted to draw something like that with Felwinter myself, so when I've seen that painting I was like whoa! That's it!! But I won't say which one it is, he-he... Hopefully I'll get it done soon
About the Exos - oh yes!!! That's possible! Actually, I've finally got my hands on "Lies of P" recently (and I freaking love that game already), and it has something similar going on there. At least, I think so; there's still some ~magic~ included from what I got so far. But I'm still at the beginning, so! Will see later! Very curious about how puppets work there in general and how there's such a... drastic gap in quality between P himself and everyone else.
(Please don't tell me anything about it though, I want to dig into everything myself)
Have a nice day too!!

I made you in my image.
So why do you error? Why do you fail me so?
Image Description : A digital painting of Rhinedottir and Nigredo from Genshin Impact, colored mostly in red and dark teals - positioning of the characters references another painting called "Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan".
Nigredo, a frail young man, is wrapped around in a dark cloth as he limply sits against his mother, held close to her chest. His face is concealed by the shadows cast over his face.
Rhinedottir, despite holding him, looks down upon her creation with a scowl of displeasure, teeth bared and eyebrows furrowed : for she refuses to believe something made of her flesh would come out so frail and flawed.
Over the whole scenery is cast a sharp, red light : alluding to what awaits the failed creation as punishment for not being good enough.
End description.

I think Silent Hill is cool, and since SH2 already has a character named Maria that shares the same... terrible fate... as zelda games would put it, this is the laziest excuse ever made so I can put Shadow in Silent Hill, I’ll make other things related to this, one of these days.
Needless to say, this picture was inspired by “Ivan The Terrible and his son Ivan”, I always thought that painting was very beautiful due to its raw delivery of emotions.
The image is (almost) on 4K, so feel free to zoom in to enjoy all the details (and laugh at the errors), I hope the compression of the site doesn’t destroys it
I think this render came out Okay, I give it a 6.5/10, it really looked a lot better in my head, and it certainly doesn’t looks like the reference, but at least I know the next ones wont look worse than this

Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan, Ilya Repin, 1883-1885
Tumblr media
[Tw: blood, violence, death]
This painting depicts the moment after The Tsar of Russia, Ivan the Terrible, accidentally delivered a fatal blow to his elder son's head whilst in a fit of rage in 1581. The painting portrays the anguish, horror and guilt as the infamous Ivan the Terrible cradles his son in his arms. And the gentle, tearful forgiveness in the eyes of his son as he nestles his head weakily into his fathers chest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The painting was first sketched out in 1882 whilst in Moscow. In the original sketch Ivan is holding the scepter in which was used to kill his son in his hand, however in the final piece it is on the floor beside the pool of blood where his sons head would have been before Ivan lifted him up and cradled him. I believe that this small detail does rather a lot to alter the piece and the meanings behind it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Some have referred to the painting as 'Ivan killing his son' however, the painting is clearly a depiction of not the action of killing but rather the consequences of after. It is not a painting of violence but a painting of the repercussions and resolutions of violence.
The weapon being in hand during the original drafts of the work creates a sense that we are witnessing the immediate shock after Ivan has committed the act, in my opinion these original sketches more easily fit with the title 'Ivan killing his son' as it feels like it takes place much much closer to the moment in which the murder was committed.
Tumblr media
I believe the final piece is more heartbreaking. The weapon being on the floor beside a pool of blood creates a scene of a father seeing the blood around his sons head, dropping his weapon and rushing to hold his son, the way the carpet in the image is lumpy further adds to the scene as it creates a clear image of Ivan lunging forward to his injured son. Furthermore, without the spear in hand Ivan more easily can clutch his son and the position of the hand tightly around his sons waist whilst the other clutches the bleeding wound further cements that the scene depicted is not supposed to be the initial horror of the acion but rather the guilt-filled, terrifying realisation of what he has done as he cradles his dying son.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Additionally, in the final work son is holding onto his father as he dies, which also changes the atmosphere of the piece and creates a stronger sense of the son forgiving his father in his final moments, creating all the more painful and moving scene which I believe the original works don't capture as well partly due to this subtle change in body language.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Another aspect of the body language that changed and affected the overall tone of the piece was the positioning of Ivan the Terrible's head. In the original sketches he is looking away from his son as if calling or pleading for help whereas in the final piece has his sons head pressed up against his chin as he looks onward in horror. This change further creates a more heart-wrenching scene as in the final piece he knows that there is nothing that can be done to save his son and so he can do nothing but hold his son as he slips away, powerless to change the outcome and with no choice but tho accept the consequences and live with the horror and guilt of his own acts.
Tumblr media
Finally, according to Repin, the work was inspired by his confrontation with themes of violence, revenge and blood during a time of great political unrest in Russia during 1881. The Tsar of Russia, Tsar Alexander II, was killed by a thrown bomb by a revolutionary orginisation who were all later executed. Repin attended the execution and it seemed to have left a great impression on the artist as many of his paintings were devoted to the group and, in the memoir of his friend Vasily Kamensky, Repin said 'Ah, as it was a nightmarish time...complex, appealing. I even remember each board each board on the breasts with the inscription "regicide"...' And in his own memoirs about this period he wrote "This year followed like a trace of blood, our feelings were bruised by the horrors of the contemporary world, it was frightening to confront it..."
This perhaps adds another layer to the piece as, during such a time of violence and horror, Repin decided to paint a sorrowful scene that depicts the aftermath of violence such as was going on all around, a comment on the irreversible brutality that resides in the world but particularly that existed in Russia at the time of the paintings creation.
So, in conclusion, this is not just a heartbreaking work of guilt and horror and anguish but is also one of remorse, sorrow and forgiveness and is undoubtedly one of the most striking and interesting pieces I've seen because of both the paintings content but also of the context and history that surrounds it. It has survived two attacks and acts as a window to the world the painter was living in during the time of its creation.
Please comment with any of your own thoughts or feelings about the piece as well as anything you think I've missed or any interesting context you happen to know.

Title: Holy Trinity Icon | Silver-Plated Orthodox Icon | The Holy Trinity Andrei Rublev
Key features: handmade, coloured silver plating, consecrated Materials: wood, 999 silver plating
Size in inches: 5.12 x 7.1 Size in cm: 13 x 18
Description:
1 HOLY TRINITY ICON (ANDREI RUBLEV VERSION) + GIFT BOX
BRAND-NEW AND UNUSED
Every believer knows about the famous Orthodox icon The Holy Trinity written by Andrei Rublev almost 600 years ago. It’s probably one of the best achievements of Russian icon painting in history, and it possesses truly infinite power. And now everyone has a chance to get a quality copy of this masterpiece created by the skilled hands of talented masters. A consecrated icon covered with a coloured silver plating can be a thoughtful gift for a brother in faith, relative, or family member.

Although the motif may look simple, there are many meanings in this depiction of God. As we know, Our Lord exists in three “Hypostases” – the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And this icon is a symbolic depiction of this integrity. There’s no mention of what figure (angel) stands for what hypostasis, and thus, the viewer can understand that they are inseparable and consubstantial.

The angels look exactly the same, which explains the whole idea of the Trinity. The only difference is the background behind each of them: a house, a tree, and a mountain. Angels are sitting around the table, and there is a free place where any devoted Christian can “sit”, join the Almighty, and address Him with his requests. This “empty seat” is a symbol of an invitation for each of us. It means that every person can find his place next to God.

Although the Holy Trinity is known across the globe, this sacred image is not as popular as the icons of Christ or the Virgin Mary. However, it can be found in many churches and homes of believers. Even the mighty Tsar of all Russia Ivan the Terrible personally said prayers in front of the original icon. Nowadays, sincere prayer in front of this icon helps to improve health, get divine assistance in a complicated situation, or find consolation after a loss.
[MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURE]
This is the exact copy of the famous icon by Andrei Rublev. It was created by independent Orthodox artisans who work with prayer and love for God. In the production, only quality and natural materials are used – wood and silver. The icon is already consecrated and can be used upon receiving it without taking it to the church.

The team of Andcross Art Store expresses its sincere gratitude for shopping with us. Your support has tremendous value for artisans and the Orthodox Church in general.

ANDCROSS ORTHODOX WORKSHOP-STORE
Holy Trinity Icon | Handmade (5.12 x 7.1 inches) 13 x 18 cm Wooden Orthodox Icon | 999 Silver
Key features: handmade, consecrated Materials: wood, 999 silver plating
Description:
1 ANDREI RUBLEV’S TRINITY ICON + GIFT BOX
BRAND-NEW AND UNUSED
The Holy Trinity is one of the most prominent works of Russian icon painting. For generations, the Trinity has been a complicated theme to depict, and Andrei Rublev’s masterpiece portrays Triune God in a simple but meaningful way. The sacred image is sometimes referred to as the Old Testament Trinity and serves as a source of inspiration for modern icon painters.
This copy is made by talented Orthodox masters who don’t start working until they pray. The object absorbed the spiritual strength of its creators and can become a wonderful gift for yourself or your loved ones. The image of the Trinity will be a nice addition to a home icon corner, protecting its owner from sinful thoughts and helping him to lead a life of a true Christian.
Fervent prayer in front of this icon purifies the soul of a believer, helps to get rid of worries, fears, and anxieties, and allows us to find peace and hope. By sharing your sincere thoughts and telling about your sins in front of this icon, a person as if talks to the Lord Himself.
The icon shows us three individuals (in the form of angels), which appeared to Abraham at the Oak of Mamre. These angels are sitting around a table. A tree is depicted behind the middle figure, a mountain – behind the right angel, and chambers – behind the left one. The heads of the Angels are slightly lowered as they are in the middle of a silent conversation or prayer. Their faces are the same – as if there’s one angel depicted three times. But each of them is God, and these figures show His triune nature. A depiction of the Trinity as three identical figures remains rare in Christian art, and it invites all believers to acknowledge that The Trinity is One.
[MATERIALS AND MANUFACTURE]
This product was manufactured with great care and love for God. We offer only the products created by believers and religious people, thus, making sure that the spiritual value of any item is beyond any doubts. Ivan the Terrible and His Son Ivan on 16 November 1581.
Ilya Repin, 1883–1885.
I chose this painting because of the simply superb rendering of a face stricken with abject horror at what act has just been committed (zoom in if you can, as it needs to be seen up close). The Russian Tsar, Ivan the Terrible (1530-84) has just killed his own son in a fit of rage. It refers to the real life incident in which the Tsar seemingly did kill his son and heir, Ivan Ivanovich, following an altercation with his younger son's pregnant wife, whom he beat for wearing immodest clothing, subsequently causing a miscarriage of the baby.
There's a lot more for me to read up on about both the Tsar and the painting, which has been vandalised twice and about which Russian opinion is divided, with some saying the story is untrue.
Acc. to Wikipedia "Contemporary sources present disparate accounts of Ivan's complex personality. He was described as intelligent and devout, but also prone to paranoia, rage, and episodic outbreaks of mental instability that increased with age."
