BAD KIDS GAMING HCS
Nobody asked but i cant stop thinking abt it so
Fabian - canonically doesn't know what mobile games are, much less actual videogames. He sort of sees them as pointless (why do quests and adventures in a videogame when he could just do them in real life?) Of course the bad kids pull him into their gaming sessions, though he spends most of them asking what the controls are again and raising an eyebrow at their shenanigans. Ragh sits him down and makes him play some sport based video games which he does enjoy, he can get really into it if you give him time (he yells so so loud) he also gets into ddr style games bc he likes beating the other bdkds at them. Videogames are a good excuse to hang but he'd rather go out and play football irl.
Kristen - coming from a heavily sheltered and what i assume monitored family, kristen probablyyy isnt all that into videogames. At most i think she'd have some mobile games like idk candy crush on her phone, like fabian she'd get confused and spend her in game time running around and just watching the others play, she goes along w the others shenanigans v easily tho and loves doing silly bits while playing.
Riz - Riz is the type to play window games on their families shared computer for hours on end. Stuff like sudoku, pinballs, or solitaire. He'd love those games like the nancy drew mystery ones, or those games where you find items like I Spy. The only downside is he gets unhealthily fixated and will spend 3 days getting to lvl 100+ on Tetris if you let him, obsessed w 100% games and making funny number go up. Surprisingly good at rhythm games.
Adaine - into open world games, like fallout or outerwilds. Will spend days writing and churning out backstory and lore for her in game character. Veryyy picky and wants every decision to be true to their newest ocs backstory, will spend a solid hour on the character creation screen. She also loves more violent shooting games, although playing online with strangers gives her anxiety and she cannn get gamer rage, she'll get fixated on getting stuff like headshots and Winning and Being a good teammate that she'll start shaking and have to step away from playing for a bit. Single player fighting games w blood where she can turn her brain off and just fight are more cathartic for her. I feel like she ends up doing insane shit in them like saw and hack off limbs and go full dark story mode route and then regret it so so much and lie awake at night not sleeping bc of it and delete the save file. Its her dark secret shell take to the grave.
Fig - plays a large range of games, mainly more colorful and silly goofy ones she can play with the badkids. Shes sort of a little nuisance in games tho, she will troll and grief a lil bc she finds it funny. In singleplayer games she does love being a huge stinker and do silly stuff like pickpocket and get caught or accidentally set a bomb off in the middle of a cutscene or glitch her character to a-pose, she does a bunch of shit and laughs and doesn't take it seriously at all. Like adaine she also gets gamer rage. she gets them both banded from online for a month bc they team up to cast a spell on someone thru the screen. LOVESS shit like guitar hero and skater games sooo much, also into those wwe type games. Cant stomach horror at all but will make the rest of the kids sit down and play horror games w her so they can laugh and scream together.
Gorgug - he tends to like more older games, say in the style of star fox/loz and stuff. His parents gave him and older gaming system when he was younger n he still has it around and collects games for it, its seeing a lot more use than it originally did bc now he has friends to play with. The type of guy to still carry their ds around. I feel like hed also modify and rom hack stuff for his friends. He likes going to the arcade in person and playing there than sitting in front of a computer.
Ayda - yes im including her shes a gamer girl in my heart. I feel like she loves life sims/complex puzzle games, stuff like slime rancher, portal, animal crossing. She has 1000+ hours into a single sims save file. She spends hours and hours building and working on the most elaborate farming system for whatever new sim shes getting invested in. She especially loves organizing in games, she gets a bit antsy playing more survival based games with the bad kids because they leave their systems so unorganized (shes def the type to redo the entire base from top to bottom in dont starve while the rest die off screen). neat and orderly decoration is soo fun for her and the bad kids try not to step on her turf too much. refuses to play multiplayer if it's with anyone else but the badkids, but if anyone would start a gaming channel its her. will do obscenely gay cutesy stuff w fig n game. They build their own little base and junk and pretend to hosts weddings n stuff. Shes also very into speed running and breaking games with glitches to figure out how they work.

I am a proud wtrc apologist and I will die on this hill.
Was the acting great? No, particularly in serious scenes it falls a little flat. Was it realistic to how these character would have reacted to the zombie apocalypse? Absolutely. Was it everything that resident evil stands for in its campy awesomeness? Yes.
Was the CGI good? No. Did I want it to be? Also no. Was it faithful to the original standard of animation from the games? Yes!
Is the storyline the same as the games? No. Do I give a shit? No. Did they actually do a decent job tying the games together? Yes. Did they do a great job? No. Was it still creative to give Chris and Claire backstory in the orphanage and have a tunnel connecting the Spencer Mansion and the orphanage? YES!!
Was Avan Jogia a good Leon? Yes! Why? Because while Leon in the games is a bit more stoic, what Avan did a great job of reflecting is the actual gamer’s experience. Maybe when the zombies pop up Leon has a cool one-liner but you as a gamer might jump and be like what the fuck and that’s what Avan did. In addition, despite being a third person game, RE1 and RE2 were meant to be immersive so in a way the gamer’s reactions are Leon’s reactions.
Was there stuff about the movie that bothered me? Yes. What? The pacing felt a little off and particularly slow at the beginning, I’m still mad about how they nerfed Annette in favor of William, and there’s stuff I wish they included. Did it ruin my enjoyment of the movie as a whole? No!
What sets the movie apart from the Anderson films? The Anderson films missed the point of the Resident Evil franchise. They turned the movies from survival horror to action thriller and considering that Resident Evil literally coined the phrase ‘survival horror’ that’s pretty egregious. WTRC stuck to the theme. These people are trying to survive and in doing so encountering horrors they have to fight. They might have some experience and some ingenuity but they’re not supersoldiers. They’re people facing odds and trying to survive. The Anderson films feel like someone took the Resident Evil universe, plucked out what they liked, and threw the rest away. WTRC feels like a love letter to the original games. I could literally feel the affection the team had for Resident Evil as a franchise coming off the screen. The Easter eggs, the precise set design, the classic lines, the campiness, the care put into the movie is so clear.
Do I have an issue with Leon’s haircut? No and it’s such a petty argument anyway. Idk how to tell you that a bowl cut with a center part is very difficult to pull off in the modern day and while it may have been cool in 1996 when the first game was made, a modern audience isn’t going to accept it as easily.
Do I have an issue with Jill’s casting? No, and frankly most of the complaints feel racist to me. She had the spirit of Jill: strength, ingenuity, loyalty, poise, independence.
Do I have an issue with Wesker’s characterization? No, because of the context. In video games there’s a lot of telling rather than showing in the literal images on the screen and the lore you find along the way. We know the STARS team is a team because we’re told that and we get to see personnel files and such. In a movie that isn’t quite as easily communicated. Seeing a personnel file in a movie doesn’t allow you the time a game would to turn the file over and read every little piece of info, it gives you less time to sit with it and absorb it. Therefore a movie has to /show/ more. In WTRC we know the STARS team is a team because we see them be a team. We see their banter and them working together and their inside jokes. And that has to happen in a movie, simply telling us, hey these people are a team wouldn’t cut it in a movie and therefore it makes sense to start Wesker essentially further back in his own timeline, back when he was bonding with the STARS members. Otherwise, his betrayal doesn’t have the impact it does because we never saw him be loyal in the first place.
Do I have an issue with Ada’s role in the movie? A little, but once they nerfed Annette they also sort of nerf Ada automatically, as the two of them are so intertwined story wise. Again we run into issues between movies and video games. In games you have unlimited time and unlimited tries and unlimited ability to revisit facts. In a movie that’s not the case so cuts have to be made somewhere. Am I happy about where they made the cuts? No, but they had a ton of material to work with smashing the two games together in the first place. Also, in games a shift in perspective can literally allow you to play as another character, in a movie too many shifts like that is jarring unless the movie sets up that structure from the beginning. Playing as Ada in the games makes sense as a change in gameplay after a long time playing Leon and a way to tell the rest of the story but a movie can’t switch like that without people being like wait where the hell did Leon go we barely saw him. Once again, it all comes down to time.
Did I like that they cut Mr. X? No, but again, time constraints, and he only exists in the games as a complicating force and the movie already has presented the characters with plenty of complicating forces. In other words, movies don’t get to include all the side quests.
Overall, most of the complaints I see tend to come down to either racism or relatively unavoidable changes because of the type of media. In conclusion, I genuinely love WTRC and am glad that I have the chance to experience it in my lifetime.

Yeah, happy to help if I can! I won't lie, its a bit of a slog to dig through everything. But if you have the time the two most helpful things I've found for finding small details and background lore are youtuber whatever57010's All Possibilities videos, and OpenIV.
OpenIV is great if you have the game on PC. It lets you dig through most of the audio files, which is how I found all the Mrs. Philips lines. It's kind of a pain to install sometimes, but I have 2 working links. I think you can use it on your PC with an xbox game disk too, but I haven't tried it personally
whatever57010's videos are basically every outcome for a mission. It usually includes all of the alternate dialogue so its way handy.
If you want Trevor background stuff specifically, the rampages and obviously the mrs philips quest give a lot of insight on her. (He has lots of incest comments here and there too. Off the top of my head I cant remember where they are) Idk, a lot of his lore is just kinda sprinkled throughout the game, so its hard to direct you to specific spots. I hope this all helps though!

SPOILERS FOR THE ANIMATED SUBWAY SURFERS
i completely forgot they were making a series for this. i heard about it on tiktok years ago and promptly forgot about it. i mean i loved the game as a kid, but i expected the show to be kinda meh. its good, not like super great, but cause my expectations were so low it seems a lot better. anyway, once more, heres a list of random thoughts
-animation. its decent. it looks like 2d and then a lot of cgi. i wouldnt rlly be able to tell if they use 3d models but i dont think they do. the characters also look almost exactly like they do in the game. ofc its better quality but they already had natural proportions so there wasnt a big change needed
-plot. now im not saying its any gravity falls (10 year anniversary coming soon thats cool) but it has things sprinkled thruout the plot u dont notice until some other details revealed. like Frank, ofc i noticed the eye and him walking away, but him in the park and audience? i was like, holy sht, how did they do that?? not to mention the secret organization thats spying on them, their brought up sometimes. who knows, maybe their symbol is in the background somewhere and i didnt notice
-episode structure. idk if its only me, but it feels out of order. like the 1st episode they find the alien tech, but its in ep. 10 Yutani uses it to make a hoverboard, even tho Jake in ep. 2 slips up and says hoverboard instead of skateboard. also after they discover the tech, ep. 1 ends, but pics up ep. 10 where Jake runs away from Guard afterwards. this chase continues ep. 11 (which makes sense chronologically) but when he gets caught in the end, its ep. 2 where Guard takes him home. idk if this is intentional, but to me it seems like ep. 10+11 should be before ep. 2. the only reason i can think of them doing this is if they wanted a lot of the lore to be hidden until the last few episodes
-backstory. i havent played the game in years, and even then i only ever played, so ive no clue if theres lore already. but i do like the backstories given to the characters. Jake being the leader, spraypainter, having a single mom, and loving to eat. Fresh loving his shoes and boombox, and having a big family (i think i counted 6 others who lived with him) who all love music. Tricky who was a single child of rich parents, forced to do ballet, but wanting to street dance. Yutani whos super smart, isnt very good at skateboarding, and is adopted. even Frank, who doesnt have any backstory, seems rlly cool and his mystery makes him rlly interesting
-the website. why is it so cool? this is for a game from 2012, why is the website cool. it has no right. anyway it has a theme, like its the secret spy organizations files (the first thing u see if their symbol and the word archives in a cool font). u literally have a cool robotic women voice who reads info on all the characters. and the freaken locked thing at the bottom
-side notes: i was thinking Yutani's va sounded familiar, and its cause she also voices Amy from sonic boom. i only recognized it cause ive seen a few compilation from it on yt reccently. hell, i only watched this cause it was on my fyp. heres the yt vid i used for ep. 1-10, and heres the one for 11. the website has them all but idk if they all work

i am on my hands and knees begging for u to tell me about lila and margot 🙏
jasmine.............. thank you for this gift
under the cut because i expect it’ll get very long <3 :) update after i finished writing: it is, in fact, very long and also took me over an hour. so. take that as whatever sort of warning you might want.
let’s start with margot !
she was born to a couple of really young parents who..... did not want to be parents. at all. they were still in the party-and-get-drunk phase of their life and didn’t want to have a kid to worry about, so a large part of her childhood was spent couch surfing between relatives, mostly her grandfather.
they were really close! he would help her with her homework, they would cook together, he would let her drink underage so that she was well-versed in beer by the time she was like. idk. 16 lol. but she felt closer to him than her own parents, who were good when they were around but. they mostly weren’t around <3
when she was 19, her grandpa starting showing pretty serious signs of memory loss and whatnot and eventually had to be moved into a home. she was living with him by that point, so she had to continue to spend a year or so of her adult life couchsurfing. it didn’t help that she was in school full-time to get an engineering degree of. some kind. i think mechanical engineering. idk. and didn’t have a job, so to pay back her roommates she took up a majority of the housework as well as picked up odd jobs on the weekend. her grandpa’s health continued to decline through this time so she didn’t actually mind being busy because then she. didn’t have to think about it at all <3
and then.............. when she was 20......... her boyfriend of a year suggested that she not only move in with him but that they get married and margot, who has never had stability ever in her life, jumped at the opportunity !
after she graduated, she found it incredibly hard to find a career (even though they were in the same program and He had no trouble finding one), so she was back to not working but her husband didn’t mind and he supported her whole-heartedly. during this time she started running and then eventually started going to a gym with a couple of her female friends from their neighbourhood! she would also spend a lot of time at her grandpa’s but his health was still rapidly declining. eventually her now-husband said that she should probably stop visiting him and margot was like “.... ok i guess”
And then. :)
she kept spending time outside of the house and started taking self-defense classes with a few of her friends and her husband was started to get very antsy. he wanted her to be at home, told her that he didn’t like her going out at night or, eventually, at all, and would find ways to keep her home every night so she didn’t go out. during this time he also started getting. um. very manipulative. he was easily triggered into starting arguments. so she increased the frequency of her self-defense classes and, eventually, they became Very Useful in an argument with her husband. so. we hate him :)
after that she filed for a divorce, moved away and changed her name to her late grandmother’s last name. she started working at a gym in her new town and eventually decided to open her own ! she had gotten the building about 2-3 weeks before the outbreak hit and didn’t have any furniture or equipment of any kind, so she met up with 2 middle-aged women from her old gym and they travelled together until one of them was bitten in a fight with walkers and dragged into a big crowd of them to be eaten and the other one was bitten and margot had to shoot her when she got zombified and tried to attack. :(
that’s where i have left off for now but i am going to develop her More the more i watch the show !!!
okay. backstory over. now for the fun bits:
her faceclaim is mackenzie davis specifically in terminator (without the. lines on her arms and whatever idk what those are) and this picture is the most margot-vibe imaginable.
the haircut was an incredibly recent choice but it came in handy during the outbreak because she didn’t have to worry about keeping hair out of her face. girlboss !
she is 6′2 :) her and her husband were funnily enough the 2 tallest people in her graduating class
she spoke occasionally to her parents after graduating and moving away but they fell out of touch a year or so before the outbreak began and she......................... unsurprisingly doesn’t miss them at all
she has 1 keepsake and it’s an old keychain of her grandpa’s and if anything happens to it. she will kill everyone in any room and Then herself !!!
she likes to where tank tops to show off her big arms. is this very ergonomical in the apocalypse where zombie bites can kill you instantly ? nope! will she do it anyway to intimidate people ? yup!
she Cannot cook. at all. she lived off of take-out and microwavable meals for the first 20 years of her life and then she always had someone else making food for her until she moved away on her own when it was back to takeout.
on the topic of food :) her fave foods are mac and cheese with breadcrumbs and meatlover’s pizza !
she will do literally anything for a good beer. anything. she keeps an eye out for them every time she goes scavenging in buildings and will try to get at least 1 bottle per trip. girlboss !
she cannot sing. in fact she’s not just average, she’s Terrible. she can, however, play mad guitar because her grandpa taught her.
now onto miss lila :)
she was born in a town a couple over from rick’s and was the younger sister of 2 ! she had a really great family and a very very happy childhood :) her dad was a wildlife rehabilitator and her mom was a landscaper who took a lot of pride in their nice big backyard and garden and Land where they. you know. rehabiliated the wildlife and what not
she worked a lot with her dad and mom at their wildlife centre and also helped her mom garden a lot (their house was on the same property as the centre so it was a nice big plot of land). she took a lot of interest in rehabilitating animals and it sparked a very early childhood interest in Caring for things (namely little wild critters) which extended to her helping out little kids on the playground when they got scraped knees and things. she always had a package of bandaids in her backpack from second grade on. an angel <3
in her final year of high school she had a very quick fling with a boy from her high school that ended… poorly. and then she got pregnant! which she. Did not expect. nor want. nor need in her life because she was planning on moving to atlanta to go to medical school and kickstart her career. her sister, who had recently dropped out of school and lost her job, decided to Take One for the team and claim the baby as hers so lila could go to medical school and stuff. their parents promised to take good care of her and they all made a plan to hide lila’s pregnancy from their town (although i’m sure literally everyone knows anyway) and then she moved away in the summer after giving birth to go to school
she quickly finished up her nursing program but was out of job for a few years until she got a job offer to be the nurse at king county elementary school aka the school were one Carl Grimes goes to school. she moved there in may and one night, when her car Squealed to a stop in front of a dog who had run away from his home and was being chased by. Um. a certain sheriff’s deputy who was intending on bringing the puppy back home <3 they got to talking and. Well. the rest is history…..
she was a very beloved member of the staff and kids would often fake sick just to come to her office and get a sucker and she grew esp close to the grimes family :D after a couple of years living in king county she got a job to start working at some fancy prep school in atlanta and decided that actually she might want to. You know. start being a mom now that she was finished with school and had a career. so she moved away from king county at the end of the next school year and was unfortunately in atlanta when it was bombed by the government at the start of the outbreak so she and her daughter and sister all died :) and that’s that !
some fun facts because that was a very depressing end to her story:
she always has suckers in her office at school and her favourites are the watermelon ones.
she can often be found gardening in her backyard or watching the birds in the trees like a little nature baby !!!
she is very meticulous about planning. she Does have a daily agenda. she Will kill you if you touch it. shane likes to leave her little notes in it for her to find when she’s at school. sometimes they are not Just cute. she usually erases those.
she likes collecting ugly thrift store paintings of animals and hangs them up in her dining room and she Does think they are incredibly funny.
she is a vegetarian !!! very unwavering about it. shane finds it annoying because he’s good at cooking steak but she just has a salad and then they’re both perfectly happy <3
sends basically everyone she knows a Christmas/holiday card every year. even the teachers at the elementary school who don’t like her and or barely talk to her !!!
she is a terrible maker of tea and usually forgets about cups before she’s even halfway through them (thank god for her). makes everyone tea when they come over except shane (stupid ass) because he doesn’t like it and usually people just politely swallow it even though it’s too steeped or. sorry idk how tea works. she just Makes It Bad ok
she perpetually forgets to do laundry. Most of her non-scrubs have dirt stains or dressing stains or whatnot (except for her Really nice clothes) which is why she tries to buy a lot of patterns. makes things easier to hide <3

Sooo, someone on Rewritten Belial wanted to know what I see wrong with mid fight masses. Boy, boy oh boy, where do I fucking start
ANIMATION
My god. My god the animation. The problem for the most part isn't the animation itself (except for the title screen, fuck that, it looks so weirdly floppy and stiff), it's the fact the animations aren't aligned properly. Take one good look at Sarv's sprites in the first 2 songs. Look how often her position shifts. There's seemingly no ground whatsoever for her, her feet get positioned up and down seemingly at random with the notes and it's REALLY frustrating. It isn't even bc of exaggerated poses, Week 4 shows that exaggerated poses can work while still making sense with where the floor is. Sarvente continues to be an offender in that regard with the fact the telephone animation looks EXTREMELY choppy and lacks a lot of inbetween frames, not to mention how stiff it feels.
Ruv is a lesser offender, the only thing that bothers me is how his feet curve down on his idle stance, because, again, That's Not How The Ground Works.
Selever. Dear god. His idle animation is so fucked. He goes 3 steps to the left by standing still. And this is purely an XML issue btw, bc there's a gif in the files with the animation in its raw state and it looks just fine
ART
THE BACKGROUNDS, DON'T GET ME STARTED. They're completely fucking lineless. That's NOT what you do with FNF. In FNF, lineless stuff is the environment, a car, the sun, a house, individual objects that are supposed to be in front or behind of one another are lined, always, and the mod NEVER does this, making everything blend in super hard.
Then there's a problem all the sprites share. They are by no means in FNF's style. FNF's art style consists of a lot of thick lines, big shapes, and a generally very street-like style. MFM does none of that. The lines are thin (with sarvente having completely lineless elements, which you should NEVER do for fnf character sprites unless it's pure black) and look very out of place when put next to every other character. Ruv is, again, the lesser offender, although he's definitely still one.
THE CHARTING
Hell. Hell. HELL. SO MANY NOTES THAT AREN'T EVEN IN THE SONG ITSELF, SUCH AN ABSURD OVERUSE OF TRIPLES AND DOUBLES, because god forbid the player actually has fun doing patterns for fast songs, right?! Gospel is safe in this regard, meanwhile Zavodila. Why. Zavodila could have been perfectly fun and difficult without them. Why did you do this. They're not inherently wrong, you just need to implement them really well and chief this ain't it. Jacks and multis aren't to be abused, ever. Patterns are best, always.
THE MUSIC
Subjectivity zone has been entered. Worship, Parish and Gospel are very subjective and down to taste, personally I ended up only liking Gospel out of the three even if I insist it should be a metal song bc demons are just like that.
Now Zavodila I have an objective complaint about, AND IT'S THE BEST SONG IN THE MOD. This isn't too much about the song on its own, but as an FNF song. Listen to it. Listen to it and tell me Ruv's voice sounds like a voice at all. No. It's just hard bass without a smidge of voice on it. If it was a voice with a filter on it that made it kinda sound like hard bass, fine, Whitty is good for that reason, it's a voice with a filter that makes it sound SIMILAR to an instrument. But when it's JUST an instrument, you've gone overboard. Idk what Selever's song is called but it has the exact same issue.
THE WRITING
ULTIMATE SUBJECTIVITY ZONE ENTERED. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION.
The writing is very lackluster. Everything just kinda happens for the sake of it, there's no background motivator or thing that got BF and GF there against their own will, it just kinda. Happens. And the reveal for Sarv's demon form is VERY lackluster, she just goes "lemme show u a secret actually" and transforms for no reason other than an excuse for a harder song. And to be blatant hornybait btw, I saw the namefiles, this demon form was designed with pure libido and no brain processes. Either way; everything just kinda happens for no reason here. It's not good. It's. Very, very bad.
And then you get into the background lore and it all gets so goddamn confusing because Dokki literally dug up OCs from when she was a kid and tried to bullshit up some backstory for them and it all crashed horribly. Every little fact is thrown in just because, like. She's lucifer but also didn't want to become lucifer and did so on accident?? How? It's never elaborated on? And WHY would she help God, who she hates, to bring people to heaven, what kinda consequence is there to not doing it, why is she being told to do this, and yet she's apparently NOT an actual nun and is just wearing a costume. What the hell is going on there. It's a mess. And Ruv. What's going on with Ruv I actually don't know I just know apparently he has dead nerves that make him unable to smile (which btw THAT'S NOT HOW NERVES WORK THEY'RE SPREAD ACROSS THE BODY AND ARE VERY, VERY LONG, THEY'RE NOT DIRECTLY CONDENSED INTO ANY SPOT AND THEN THEY JUST STOP THEY'RE INTERCONNECTED) and that he "kills for a sense of justice and ends up becoming an antagonist because of it"?? It's all so confusing and it makes 0 sense. They should have been remade from the ground up instead of having been picked up and thrown a buncha shit onto. You don't pick up a rotten piece of meat, slap a buncha sauces on top of it and make it taste good. It's still old, rotten meat, and you should just get fresh meat instead. Same type, new start. Remake, don't rehash.
CONCLUSION
In my sincere opinion? This mod had a TON of potential. You could have done a lot more under more capable hands. On every single end. Writing, charting, art, music to a lesser degree, if it had been done by more capable and experienced people it could have been one of the best mods. But then it wasn't. And it got popular anyways. This. This all is why I'm reclaiming it. Because I see what could have been. How much you could have done with this mod. And I wanted to take a shot at the writing end of things, because that's what I'm most capable of, even if it isn't much. That's why I made Rewritten Belial. And why I hope I did a good job of making something worthwhile with these characters.
ALSO THE DEVS ARE SO ENTITLED HOOOOLY SHIT YOU LITERALLY CANNOT POST RECHARTS ON GAMEBANANA ANYMORE WITHOUT GETTING BANNED BC THEY GET MAD WHEN PEOPLE FIX THEIR HORRIBLE CHARTS. THEY NEVER, EVER ENCOURAGE FAN CONTENT THAT ISN'T SUCKING UP TO THEM AND JUST COPYPASTING WHAT'S ALREADY THERE WITH 0 MODIFICATIONS. MIKEGENO UR THE ONLY DECENT PERSON HERE BLESS YOU

OWCA ocs that gave me a lot of joy to make (lore under the cut)
Ok so, we have Mabel the Mutt, Ronnie the Red Panda, and Toby the Tanuki. Mabel was Toby’s mentor, and Toby & Ronnie are currently stationed together (neighboring host families).
Mabel was infamous in OWCA for being their best agent, a lot like how Perry is in canon, even nicknamed the “Hellhound” for her deadly skill and intimating nature. She tragically died on a classified mission and is now a legend of sorts, since a lot of younger agents looked up to her and continue to tell stories about her past missions and career. Though because of her eerily silent composure and straight-to-business attitude, no one knows much about her personal life. So hardly anyone knows about her apprenticing Toby (who was also the only apprentice she ever took)
Mabel & Toby’s case is unique within OWCA. Usually, OWCA trainees are enrolled at a very young age, many orphaned or even born into the organization. They go through a training school until they graduate with all their basic skills, which at this point they’ll be young adults, and then are placed with a mentor to hone those skills and get field experience. They train under this mentor until the head of their division promotes them to full agent status, and then they’re assigned a host family and/or nemesis.
Mabel found Toby as a baby, maybe on a mission or maybe during her civilian life, and decided to take her in as her own. She didn’t intend for Toby to join OWCA, but being raised by the best agent in the organization has its influence. Toby begged Mabel to let her join OWCA when she was in her teens because she wanted to help people just like her parental figure. And, being the best in the business has its perks. The higher-ups pulled some strings and allowed Toby to register as Mabel’s official apprentice though she was much younger than protocol, since she easily tested out of training school. So Mabel and Toby were very close.
The only people who know about Mabel’s final mission are Toby and the very head of OWCA. It was something like, Mabel took an extremely dangerous mission, something unfeasible even for her (because it was the only way to save x and Mabel can’t watch people get hurt without doing something about it, or because she’s the only one who might’ve had a chance of actually accomplishing it, etc, you know the drill) and bluntly tells Toby that she might not come back before leaving (since she’s emotionally constipated and doesn’t know how to say “I love you”). Toby, afraid of losing her only parental figure, secretly follows Mabel to try to help. Something ends up going horribly wrong, then Mabel finds out Toby followed her, and then sacrifices herself to save Toby and the mission. Toby is devastated and probably blames herself for either causing the accident or not being able to help.
So, Toby is reassigned to another mentor and is quickly promoted to full agent status. And we’re back to the present, where Toby is assigned to be partners with Ronnie the Red Panda (I haven’t decided why this is, maybe neither of them are actually full agents yet and they’re doing group field training under a mentor like in OWCA Files but instead of test missions, they go on real missions as partners and the whole team lives in a cul de sac idk).
The two of them butt heads because Toby is a rule-follower, strict, punctual, complete professional, while Ronnie likes to go with the flow, improvise, bend rules, etc. Ronnie is a lot more easy-going, energetic, and joyful, though none of that detracts from her skill as an agent. She has amazing natural talent, and many senior agents agree she’ll easily be one of their top agents with a little bit of polish. In fact, Ronnie is the only other agent who can compete with Toby. This also bugs Toby because she’s a little prideful, though it comes from a sad place- in her eyes, if she can’t be the best, then Mabel would have died for nothing.
Toby took after Mabel in the feelings department which means she doesn’t understand her feelings at all and couldn’t talk about them if she tried. Meanwhile Ronnie is an open book with her heart on her sleeve. Which also bugs Toby because she needs to unlearn associating emotion with weakness. Maybe Ronnie also has a tragic backstory to be unlocked but she managed to come out with compassion and kindness instead of bottling everything up until you die. Yanno, rivals with a lot to learn from each other.
Anyway Ronnie and Toby slowly open up to each other and become girlfriends. The End.

ahhhhh i wanted to put down all the fandoms im in so that people know, so here it is!
• pokémon - i casually watch the anime and read the manga on occasion, but im REALLY into the games. im mostly focused on gen 3, 5, 7, and 8, but i love all of them ahhHH, im super into everything that has to do with interpol. ive been playing since february 2018 but only got into the fandom around january 2019. my favorite characters are looker, anabel, elesa, platina, emma, and hop
• kpop - im a multistan but twice is my ult group and i love them SO much, the only one that comes close is loona. ive been a fan of twice since feb 2019 and a fan of loona since feb 2020 but i only got really into them at the beginning of the summer. my twice (and ult) bias is sana, my 1/3 bias is vivi, my oec bias is jinsoul, my yyxy bias is chuu, and my overall loona bias is yeojin
those are my main two fandoms but the rest will be under read more! all my fandoms will be in the tags but this is just like extra info
• splatoon - ive been playing splatoon since august 2019 and i love it! im not really great with the events of the main story or manga, but i know all the characters and LOVE octo expansion. my favorite characters are callie, marina, and agent 8
• six the musical - i literally just got into it yesterday but i LOVE it. my favorite queen is kate howard but anne boleyn is a close second. also why does everyone ignore jane i love her????
• club penguin - okay hear me out, club penguin has LORE. ive been playing it since i was 5 years old. i wrote club penguin fanfiction when i was 7. i highkey wanna rewrite it and post it here but im afraid of being judged hhhhhh. but yeah stan club penguin. its fun.
• animal crossing - ive been playing since december 2018 and im a lot more casual now but i love it! my favorite villager is rosie, i used to hate her but now shes my favorite 🥺 theres a whole backstory to that and its pretty crazy, if this gets like more than 5 notes ill tell it here
• ddlc - im not really into it anymore but i like it. i started watching playthroughs like june 2019.
• love letter - this game is gonna slap just yall wait
• frozen - don't judge me pls, i rlly like it, i dont know much about the term "kinning" but i feel like it would be appropriate to say i kin anna, again pls dont judge me
• undertale/deltarune - i feel like the cringe culture around this died off (i think cringe culture died off in general, hopefully) so yeah, ive played deltarune many times and im near the end of undertale rn, its fun! im a pacifist of course, but i am trying genocide on another save file.
• danganronpa - i dont know much about it but my friend got me into it and i like it! she wants me to watch playthroughs but im more interested in the anime ngl. my favorite character is kyoko kirigiri

I have some bits of lore that adds to the canon (idk if they technically count as headcanons and not all are my own) that I really like, especially about like physical attributes or decoration type things.
Dwarves, for example, take great care of their beards. Braids and beads and other things are added to make them look nice and are a source of pride for them. For men, women and everyone in between, if they can grow a beard you bet it’s the best damn bear you’ve ever seen.
As for orcs, there’s the same sense of pride in their hair in a slightly different manner. I like the idea of orcs having elaborate, long braids as a symbol of their skill in battle. If an orc loses a fight they’ll cut a piece of hair off as a sign of them losing their pride, so the more braids an orc has the more you should reconsider getting into a fight with them
Tieflings are where it gets most fun for me. With how varied they can be there’s a lot that can be said about them but the most predominant features are their horns so I love the idea or horn decorations. A good example is Mollymauk form Cirtical Role. Rings and bands to symbolize wealth or power or proficiency in their field are great additions that can be given to tieflings.
On the other hand you could have tieflings who chose to cut or file down their horns to try to fit in better, or those who don’t lose them willingly.
I also saw the idea of morality potentially shaping one’s horns which is really neat. The more immoral a tiefling, the more their horns “splinter” (think seer antlers). You can add onto this if you amke it so that it’s just a made up legend from non-tieflings and those with naturally uneven or more antler-like horns are treated differently because of it which can add to their backstories.
These are great for characterization too because it’s the little details that add more dimensions to your character. Also great additions to weave into backstories

i need to purge my brain of Amaranth lore so here we go
let’s start at the beginning! he was born to tiefling parents, Abby (warlock) and Faust (bard), a pair of travelers who lived in a secluded cottage in the untamed forests of eastern Cambria. they were killed by a group of fanatics bent on ridding their territory of demons (prejudice and fantasy racism play a big part in this story, fair warning) Amaranth, a toddler at the time, was spared. the killers were above directly killing a child, but not above letting him starve, cold and alone.
luckily, a ranger named Ceridwen Llywelyn was out in those woods less than a day later, and heard crying. they happened upon Abby and Faust’s cottage, door ajar, and went inside, where they found, first, the bodies of Abby and Faust, still lying in pools of their own blood, now dry. she followed the sound of crying to a room in the back, where they found a child no more than two, alone
kindhearted as she was, Ceridwen took the child, forwent their plans to gather food and pelts, torched the cottage, and made the journey back home to her husband, a blacksmith named Gareth. they barely even broached the subject of adoption, as soon as Gareth saw the little doe-eyed tiefling he practically drew up the papers himself. they named him Amaranth for his pinkish-red complexion.
Ceridwen and Gareth were both human, and they lived in a human settlement. they were both compassionate people who loved Amaranth unconditionally. they had no room in their lives for religious fanaticism that led to closed-mindedness and cruelty. the same could not be said of their neighbors, or their neighbors’ children
i won’t go into specifics (i haven’t hashed those out yet because i dread the thought of this) but children can be cruel when they’re taught a certain way. Amaranth suffered at the hands of his peers. jeering and names and jokes at his expense only grew worse as he got older and the other children got more... creative
dropping toads down the back of his shirt, throwing him in a pig sty, pretending to be friendly and leading him out into the woods to “show him something”, only to abandon him, leaving him to wander aimlessly until after dark (this did, however, lead to him unlocking his druidic talents)
but there was a girl, Selwyn, who had a bit of a soft spot for him, never really taking part in the bullying, and she and Amaranth grew... close? kind of. as close as they could get when your friends are being nasty to the nice boy you’ve taken a shine to.
one night, they’re out walking and she kisses him. it’s a nice moment, a little break from the constant slew of hatred, until some boys sneak up on them and dump a bucket of soured milk on both of them. the moment is gone. he runs home before anyone can do anything else. the experience makes him sick
now, where are Ceridwen and Gareth through all this? half-believing the lies Amaranth comes up with to explain the horrible things that keep happening to him.
the pig sty? “i tripped and fell”
getting lost in the woods? “i was out exploring”
getting sick after the sour milk incident? “it must’ve been something i ate”
and so on.
the last straw comes when he’s seventeen. they lock him in a pen of goats. it’s nowhere near the worst thing they’ve ever done, but the comments that come with it breaks something in him. they mock his horns. “be with your people, goat boy” they say. they leave him there. Selwyn won’t even look at him anymore.
that night, he goes into Gareth’s shop and takes one of his metal cutting tools (do those exist? like giant claw clippers you’d use on your pet? idk) and in a fit of self-hatred, clamps down on his right horn and breaks right through it. but he was too close to the quick and the pain is so great he passes out.
he comes to, the next morning with a splitting headache. Gareth is holding him and Ceridwen is nearby with a mortar and pestle, grinding up herbs to help with the pain and bleeding. he’s bedridden for two weeks as his broken horn heals. it won’t grow back, but the exposed quick will heal and scar over. still, as is, anything touching the broken end of his horn hurts more than anything so Ceridwen helps him file the jagged edges of the break, and Gareth fashions a prosthetic from silver
Amaranth doesn’t leave his house much after that. Ceridwen and Gareth know what’s been happening now, and they’re not too happy with Amaranth’s tormentors or their parents. Gareth is a big guy, intimidating, if Amaranth had been honest about what happened, he could’ve put a stop to it with a mere look.
leaving the settlement is not a decision they make lightly, but it’s what’s best for Amaranth. they don’t go very far, just two towns over. Gareth sets up shop as a blacksmith, and Ceridwen works out a deal with a local fur trader.
Ceridwen gets Amaranth some houseplants, and Gareth helps him cultivate a garden. He’s not overly eager to go out and meet new people, after all, he only knew true kindness from his adoptive parents. he doesn’t trust other humans.
still, Ceridwen and Gareth help establish him as a purveyor of herbs, an indirect healer of sorts. he knows what plants help with certain ailments and when his parents come to him with neighbors’ problems, he fixes a remedy and has Ceridwen or Gareth deliver it.
at some point, Ceridwen and Gareth have to go out of town, far north into Pictland, to get something for the smithy. Amaranth will have to be on his own for a while. the people of this new town don’t know he’s a tiefling and he doesn’t want them to find out. he stays inside.
townspeople still come to his door, asking for his help, and he does what he can. he delivers orders in the dead of night, when no one can see him, and has people leave payment on his doorstep. at first it’s only money, but as time goes on, townspeople leave him other things; honey and jams, breads and cheeses, mostly things to eat.
more time passes with no word from his parents. he starts taking jobs that normally go to Ceridwen, mostly pest control, dealing with dangerous and invasive creatures in the woods.
a year passes. still no word from Ceridwen or Gareth. by now Amaranth is an established druid, people go to him for help and he always does, but only at times when no one will see him. rumors circulate about him, but no one comes close to the real reason he’s so reclusive
at twenty, someone from his old town finds him. she stays at his door and refuses to leave without seeing him. in the dead of night, he opens his door to find Selwyn dozing off on his doorstep. he wakes her up and brings her inside. they talk about a lot, but eventually old feelings come up and they end up sleeping together.
the next morning, Selwyn asks Amaranth to come back with her, but he refuses, mostly because of the trauma he experienced, but he tells her it’s because he has to stay for when his parents come back. he tells her she can visit any time and she smiles sadly and nods. she leaves and he doesn’t see her again.
five years pass, and no word from his parents, but news travels and the clans of Pictland are at war, travelling is unsafe. Amaranth holds onto the belief that his parents are alive but worries nonetheless
and that’s the end of the backstory, after this, Draco worms his way into Amaranth’s life and “present” canon begins. going into all that would require going into some of Draco’s backstory and this post is long enough lol

Hi! I know that you’ve said that you won’t continue with the sequel planned for Wandering Bird, but I was wondering if I could inquire on what you might’ve written? It’s just, I really adore your fic; can’t get it out of my head actually (so I’m so sorry if I’m being insensitive!) You mentioned once that you were going to do a POV from Arthur Gwen and Morgana- does that mean they (Morgana and Gwen specifically) had an idea of Merlin’s fate? Could Arthur “see” Merlin during his adventures? Part 1
Part 2: (Again, I apologize for my questions-your story just has so many interesting plot points!!) How would Bonnie and Co interact/react to Arthur’s return? Why couldn’t Freya interact much with Merlin; Was it a lack of magic, interference or something else? Somewhat weird question: but did you have anything in mind for Merlin’s Vigil Night? (If he can get one poor dear). (Gushing continued in third ask I’m so sorry)
Part 3: I loved how you showed Arthur considering legal reforms before his death-and the Phoenix as the emblem? *Chef’s Kiss* Was the creation of the phoenix’s later on a reference to that? Random aside: I really adored how badass you made Merlin, without making him too edgy or dark, you know? Also I really loved the many prophecies/legends surrounding just Merlin as “Emrys”! I adore literally everything about Aithusa, and her final scene made me bawl (also your art is gorgeous!) You’re amazing!

Unfortunately, I no longer have my original outlines and the roughly 15k I’ve written due to my old laptop crashing, and it’s been 7 years (oh my gosh how) so I no longer remember the details. Which is too bad - I have several abandoned fics in my mother tongue, and I always uploaded summaries of what was supposed to happen to provide some kind of closure to readers. I can’t do that properly with Wandering, but I’ll try my best!

Feathers was inteded to be a series of 7 fics: 3 long main stories and 4 shorter (8-15k) standalone side-stories. The graphics are pretty much the only thing I still have left x’D
You know this one, 75k of how Merlin spends those roughly 1500 years between the end of the show and Arthur’s rebirth. Then, the stuff that never got finished:
The Gwen POV side story, set during ch1 of Wandering. Focused on Gwen dealing with Arthur’s death, managing the kingdom and working on abolishing discrimination against magic users. Also getting together with Leon after a few years.
The Morgana POV one, at parts corresponding to ch1 and ch2 of Wandering. Honestly, I’m no longer sure about the details, but the early parts were supposed to explain and detail show canon, and then... I think I meant to bring her back in as a literal bird. With the life span of it, just keeping her consciousness, so she can watch what happens in the world. She probably watched over Aithusa, too, and Merlin, and IDK but the goal was to show her thoughts and eventually give her character justice and closure.
The Arthur POV one. He was kept in some kind of otherworldly, underwater palace-like place and could only interact with Freya, really, but he did get constant flashes of Merlin - especially where he was near Albion. This short was supposed to be very dream-like, as time works differenetly in that place. It’s kind of like when you’re half-asleep, y’know? So Arthur didn’t really live those 1500 years like Merlin did, but he followed his journey, in a way. When Freya “woke him up” at the end, they did have a conversation about it. He lost these memories when he was reborn. (But he still often dreams of water and a kind lady)
The next big one! Set in 2012, this would’ve started with Arthur & Merlin going to uni and “meeting each other” and ended with Arthur finally regaining his memories. Merlin kept away from him while Arthur was growing up, you see - aside from that one time when he learnt that by pure chance, Ray (who became a PE teacher) ended up being one of lil’ Chris/Arthur’s teachers. As old man Emrys, he got himself some history teaching shtick because he wanted to see how Arthur was doing, but he quickly realized that this is not going to work, what with him being in love with the man Arthur is going to become. xD So he left after a few months, and kept away from Arthur. (But kept pestering Ray with questions :D)
Anyway, when Arthur goes to uni (by this point, he exclusively goes by ‘Arthur’ btw, dropping Christopher) Merlin magics himself back into his eighteen year old form and gets enrolled in the same school. Agatha and Mike would have had prominent roles as basically Merlin’s sidekicks. Aggie is especially close with him, after him mentoring her about magic all her life.
Arthur has no memories either of his old life or about the years spent with Freya, so the dynamic at first is pretty much show S1. Most of the angst would have come from Arthur finally wanting to get together with Merlin but Merlin pulling away because there’s just too much Arthur doesn’t know; how is he supposed to be together with him when he’s hiding so much, lying so much? This Arthur is pure and free of the tragedies of the past, and maybe it’d be best if Merlin left him alone... But something must be happening - something the world needs Arthur for, if he slept through WWI and WWII but NOW fate decided to send him back...
Anyways, he would have gotten back his memories aroud the end of this instalment. Cue a lot of crying from Merlin’s part.
The last big one, a direct sequel to With Memories. A lot of recap and talking in the early parts, Merlin and Arthur reconciliating who they were in the past with who they are in the present and who they wanna be in the future.
There was a Big Bad of some kind of malicious magical origin (not necessarily a person, but an “end of the world” kind of thing/entity. It was 2012 after all. Little did we knew the real shit was coming 8 years later It was revealed that Arthur had magic himself, plenty of it - he couldn’t use it, at all, but he wielded a lot of pure magic, maybe related to how he was basically marinated in magic-juice for over fifteen centuries and how his soul was pushed back into the world xD There was a lot of magical and dragon-related lore to be revealed. The Phoenixes came back to play a part in resolving the Big Bad, too. But it’s all very hazy. What I do remember is that to fix the Big Bad, Merlin AND Arthur had to hold their Vigil Night, in a way - not dying, god now, but both of them hand to give all their combined magic back to earth. This resulted in the Big Bad no longer happening and Merlin losing his immortality =)
After figuring out their shit in the first half, they were pretty much together, btw. Learning each other in a new way. Arthur digged Merlin’s Phoenix emblem tattoo, that’s for sure. A lot of communication was needed, especially because it wasn’t easy for Arthur to understand Merlin’s grief (sometimes, Merlin looked so old despite the young form he wore; sometimes he felt ancient, and Arthur was a bit scared in his presence - not scared of Merlin, but scared of how to measure up to him, reach him, help him.) And Merlin had to understand that even with his old memories, Arthur wasn’t exactly that Arthur, the king - he had a life of his own in the present, a new identity, and it was unfair of Merlin to expect him to be the same. They no doubt talked a lot about Merlin’s lived experiences, his lost ones, Aithusa. (Merlin never stopped wearing the pendant made of Aithusa’s scale)
Happy end, of course :)
Well, that was a lot of vaaaague stuff, but hopefully gave you an idea? Bonnie wasn’t around too much, though I’m sure I’d have included some scenes with her. She probably didn’t met Arthur until Together Again. Aggie liked him fine but kept teasing him and she could be a bit harsh, what with her being so overprotective of Merlin. Mike and Arthur got along really well. Arthur was shocked when he was first fully introduced to the whole family and was met with his old PE teacher AND that brought up the fact Merlin attempted to teach him for a few months xDD
Buuuuut.... this was still just 6, eh?
Last instalment, another side oneshot, and a prequel to the whole series. Kilgharrah’s POV. Set a few generation’s before Uther’s rein, elaborating on some of the lore and backstories revealed in Together Again. (all of which I no longer remember, rip) I know we’d have met an ancestor of both Merlin and Arthur through Kilgharrah: Aurelius Ambrosius, who does some good deed to Kilgharrah, and the dragon blesses him - after this, the man takes the name Pendragon. And Coel, who was a dragon lord, husband to Ystradwal high priestess. Coel had a cheerful and kind personality, and he was the first human Kilgharrah came to like. They became friends. Coel was supposed to be Merlin’s grandfather, I think. Kilgharrah and his mate were expecting their first egg to hatch when Uther’s purge started, and that was pretty much the end of this short =(

All I have left aside from these is some tidbits of dialogue from the single file on the sequels I have:

“Whoa, Merlin, slow down. I can’t follow you.”
“I’m different from you. Okay? I’m not... I wasn’t... I didn’t reincarnate. I’m not a reincarnation of the original Merlin. I am the original Merlin. Do you understand? I never... Look, I never died.”
“You are. The same Merlin." Merlin nods. "The same Merlin who mucked out my horses and saved me countless times and magicked his way into my life.”
“I’m afraid, sire.”
The title comes without a conscious thought, and when he realizes, his heart twists and cracks.
Arthur just stares at him.

“So? Who are you guys, then?”
“I wasn’t lying about them. They are family. No! Gods, no, not like that,” he adds quickly upon seeing Arthur’s widening eyes.
“He’s our magical fairy godfather,” Mike and Aggie say in perfect union, completely straight-faced.

“The only times I was really miserable were the very first few hundred years, and later the roughly three centuries that followed Aithusa’s death. For the rest of the time, I wasn’t completely alone, and that... helped. A lot. But... it was hard. I hated how everyone I cared for withered away and died before my eyes, so I tried to keep people away for a long time. I was lonely, but that kept me safe from heartbreak. At least, that’s what I’d thought.
“But then I met Bonnie, and as I watched her grow up and start a family - a family that welcomed me - I realised how foolish I was for attempting to condone myself to a solitary life and deny myself the warmth of others’ love.”

Arthur wipes a hand over his face. “Owning a magical heritage but no apparent talent to use it... Just. Great. I’m a fucking Quibble!”

Faragonda:
- How I feel about this character:
I love her! She is amazing! I love that she is very patient and warm but also won't let anyone hurt the people she loves. She's a badass. She can fight her own battles and has a strong will and resolve despite her kind attitude and her desire to solve things peacefully and I think that is a great combination of characteristics. I love that she's always there for her students and is super understanding. I think she's a great headmistress.
- All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Griffin. They know each other so well and understand and respect each other. Let's be real, that would be the perfect relationship.
Hagen. I have only seen the two minutes of interactions they had in "Secret of the Lost Kingdom" so you can pretty much blame @trashcankitty12 for that since it started from her fanfiction. I just realized a few days ago that they are the sunshine and raincloud trope and I kinda like that, though, it could've been done better.
Griselda. Idk, I've seen this and I think it would work as well. Honestly, I would be more sold if we'd seen more of their relationship but I guess we'll just... have to die. 😑
- My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Griffin. Like I said, I live for this friendship. They have so much history and not all of it is pretty but they are still as close as ever. I love the fact that they've had major crises in their friendship but they still managed to get over them and trust each other. And Faragonda is so supportive of Griffin, I can't. Not to mention that they're both super protective of each other.
- My unpopular opinion about this character:
I think Faragonda is more selfish than expected. What I mean with this is that she would totally sacrifice herself for the people she loves, just as well as she would sacrifice everyone else for the people she loves. This would make sense if you look at her past, too. She most certainly went through big rejection when she discovered she was a fairy. Not only from her family, but also from pretty much everyone else in her life. So the few people that stuck with her mean the world to her and she can't afford to lose them no matter what it means for anyone else. And Marion and Oritel's death only exacerbated that thought process.
- One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I wish we'd learned more about her family and the time she thought she was a witch. I think that would've been really interesting and could have brought up some magical lore. Like, more about the fairies and witches and how light and dark magic came to be (also, am I the only one who thinks we should have gotten more emphasis on Mirta and maybe seen a conversation between her and Faragonda since Mirta is the only one we know of who's been through the same thing Faragonda has?). I reaaaaaaally want to know how she handled that period. (Spoiler: I might have an idea about that and it might be morphing into a fanfic instead of the set of headcanons it was supposed to be.)
Sky:
- How I feel about this character:
Uh... Can I skip this question? 😅 Honestly, I don't really like him. He has some qualities that I like but just... No? I don't feel it.
- All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Honestly, I don't care about his romantic life. I would say Bloom, but they are the only canon ship that I really don't give a damn about.
- My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Brandon. As much as I hated their idea to switch identities in season 1, that's a sign for some strong friendship. You don't just do that with anyone and I like the fact that he's so close with someone who was supposed to be just a servant to him. We haven't seen anything about his life as a prince but I'm willing to bet he didn't have many real friends so it's good to see him have a genuine friendship.
- My unpopular opinion about this character:
I don't like his relationship with Bloom. I feel like they don't fucking communicate, like, at all! At least half, no, wait, at least 70% of their drama would've been avoided if they talked to each other and he trusted her to tell her shit. Imagine how much cooler it would have been if he'd told her that he was actually prince Sky and he was engaged but he likes her and doesn't want to be with Diaspro. And then Bloom could've sneaked on the Day of the Royals for support and because she wanted to see Diaspro and the two of them could've actually talked which would have provided an opportunity for character depth for Diaspro. Maybe she would get to tell Bloom why she loves Sky and Bloom would feel bad bc apparently Diaspro's feelings are genuine but they aren't reciprocated and we could have some quality drama there with Sky and Bloom both trying to let Diaspro down easily and after a period of adaptation they could have all been friends. Now i want to write this. *exasperated sigh*
- One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
Get some goddamn backstory! I know I say the same about all of the characters, but that's because they have the same flaw in getting no fucking backstory. How are we supposed to get this character when we have no idea why the hell they are like that? I feel like Sky could be a great character if they'd delved more into what makes him like that. Why did he feel the need to swap identities with Brendon? They said that he wanted to see what not being a royalty was like but why? Was he tired of being a prince and just wanted to be normal (in which case some backstory would have fit right in) or did he want to see how ordinary people get treated so that he could get them better for when he became a king? Just give me something about this character's life gdi!
Tecna:
- How I feel about this character:
Pretty meh tbh. She is so underdeveloped, it's painful. We don't know anything about her except that she's good with technology and smart. That doesn't make up an entire personality and it doesn't make her very relatable for me.
- All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Timmy. We get to see some emotional reactions from both of them when they're together and I like that. I just wish they'd done more with them even if in the context of their passion of technology. Just let them go on a super cute nerdy date where they go look for computer parts at a second-hand technology store or something. If they're only gonna have one characteristic, at least expand it to the point where it's believable that it's taken over their lives because they are so interested in it. There were so many possibilities.
- My non-romantic OTP for this character:
... Error 404: File not found. Honestly, her relationships with the others are so non-existent that I don't really... have anything for this category. Like, who is she closest to? I have no idea. I'm gonna say Musa, though, because: a) I think music and technology together can make some pretty cool things and b) Musa seems prone to hiding her emotions and Tecna is a bit detached from her own feelings so I feel like that could be a bonding point while they can also learn something from each other. (Man... I feel like exploring the possibilities now... Gdi! I have no time for that.)
- My unpopular opinion about this character:
I feel like Tecna's powers were very underestimated. And not just on a magical level. She is super smart and inventive and she should've been given a bigger role in a lot of the missions. Also, if any of the magical realms are anything like Earth, then Tecna could be super useful and vital to missions since everything is so technology-based. None of that was well utilized. None of it.
- One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I wish she'd gotten her Enchantix differently. Faragonda said that to get Enchantix they had to sacrifice themselves for someone from their planet. Yet, Tecna sacrificed herself for Layla's planet and still got her Enchantix. Now technically, there might have been a Zenithian on Andros at the time, so in saving the planet Tecna saved that Zenithian as well but that is totally not what Faragonda meant there, I'm sorry. Also, if they'd gotten her to save someone from her own planet, we could have learned something more about her and her backstory. I think it would've been better.
Darcy:
-How I feel about this character:
She's my fave Trix! I've loved her since I was little. I love that Darcy is more collected and controlled than Icy and Stormy but she can be just as terrible when she's raging. I like that her composure doesn't make her more stable than they are and she can totally flip from calm to mad in 0.03 seconds. It makes her unpredictable and allows her to fit in with the temper of her besties while she also remains different from them. I love her powers! They're so cool and I wish we'd seen more of them. I'm sure they could've made something amazing if they had messed around with her power of illusions. Come to think of it that fits well with her character, too, since she isn't patient and calm but only gives the illusion of that.
- All the people I ship romantically with this character:
Riven. Look, I know that relationship was as unhealthy as it gets, but they looked cute gdi! In an AU maybe they could've been the perfect couple.
Maybe Flora a little bit. Don't ask me why, I don't know. I just remembered I had some thoughts on this but I can't quite piece it together yet. I think that could have some cool symbolism, though, because in a way Darcy's powers are the opposite of Flora's since plants need light to survive and Darcy's powers are... well, darkness. Also, nature doesn't pretend and Darcy's magic is literally focused on deception so...
- My non-romantic OTP for this character:
Icy and Stormy. They've had less than graceful moments in their friendship but they stuck together through it all and I actually like that. It gives them some depth (which, let's be real, they were very lacking of) and I appreciated it. I feel like I prefer her relationship with Stormy since they are more on equal ground while Icy separates herself as the leader of the trio (and the worst of them tbh).
- My unpopular opinion about this character:
I think Darcy is actually a lot like Musa but their approach to feelings is different. Musa will erupt when she reaches her boiling point while Darcy is more calculating in that regard and is more likely to hide her feelings if she's after something that exploding will get in the way of. So basically, you could say Musa is more genuine while Darcy is more for pretense in the name of her goal. Musa's feelings find outlet in the harmony of her music while Darcy's cause chaos and it's an interesting opposition to work with, especially considering that sometimes their reactions can overlap. I can see how Riven can be confused as to which one of them would be better for him.
- One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon:
I wish we'd gotten some backstory. What was her life like that it made her want universl domination? How did she meet Icy and Stormy and how did they become friends, considering that neither of them are exactly open to bonding? How are they connected to the Ancestral Wicthes (I mean, they can't be direct descendants so what is up with that) and how did they get their hands on the Whisperian Crystals (also, where the hell did the Crystals go after season 1)? So many questions and no answers.
This was so fun! I got so many new thoughts! So... Ask box is still open! 😁

i know you posted your thoughts on the big arguing scene in “we need to talk about pete” but i was wondering if you were going to post a full breakdown? that episode was a lot and i love hearing your thoughts on eps. ignore this if you have done a breakdown and i’m dumb and just missed it lol
**spoilers for the war of bugs and rats and we need to talk about pete**
What’s up denizens of Magic NYC? Now, I unfortunately live in normal NYC where I have to pay bills and stuff so I’ve been MIA with recaps for the past few eps but, no sweat. We’re gonna do a double feature of the above two eps and then I’ll group in the last battle episode with the upcoming episode. So lets catch up on what’s been going on in The Unsleeping City There’s a LOT to get through so vámanos y'all.
First up, we have our big bug fight in Queens, which Sophie enters with a camelback full of box wine because Emily is Emily.
“I’ve heard of gentrification but this is crazy!”
Brennan enjoys making those gross, chittering, bug noises way too much.
Have we talked about Pete’s cowboy hat? Because, for real, what is up with Pete’s cowboy hat? It seems absolutely apropos of nothing. Was he just like, “Sick,” and he decided to wear it everywhere? That seems to be how he makes all of his decisions.
“Butthole 2: Electric Boogaloo.”
Emily clocks the cat *immediately*. Like to the point where I’m almost thinking, “Did this cat exist before Emily mentioned looking for one?” And I want to say yes because La Gran Gata seems very fleshed out, specific, and intentional. But folks, we are living in a post-Avanash world so idk what to think. (Edit: The cat does have a mini now that I’ve gotten to that but idk, that insert shot could have been shot post ep so like, who knows?)
Anyway, Emily’s entire mission objective immediately becomes saving this cat she’s vaguely aware of.
“5E you crazy.”
The Cast, Knowing Emily just rolled a 25 and still has a 1d8 Bless in Her Back Pocket if She Needs It: Brennan, Just Ask.
The horror on Emily’s face when she realizes that she just called an attack on the cat cocoon.
So Emily goes off on a very Emily side quest to rescue a random cat but happens to unlock a very cool NPC–La Gran Gata–who is like the spirit of all the bodega cats out there. Sophie immediately calls upon the entirety of her limited Spanish skills to try and make friends with the cat, and succeeds.
The, “To arms, to arms my brothers!” thing kills me every time. Are all rats just Like That? Is that what they’re like when they’re out and about too?
Kingston rolling a nat 20 to literally walk across the store is wild.
Oh also, Pete failed a wild magic surge roll which just lets him fly. So far, those wild magic surges have really been working out for him.
Anyway, Bug Boss Becky turns Ricky into a “buff-ass” dog.
Zac playing dog-Ricky with almost exactly the same self-awareness (or lack thereof) as normal-Ricky is so funny. He’s an Akita and I was expecting Dalmatian but that makes sense too. Ricky, the very good boy, attacks Becky and–as a Sentinel–stops her in her tracks.
Emily does a ton of damage and Brennan, about to describe her attack, is like, “Are you still drunk?” Emily shuts down the opportunity to look cooler and is like, “I am a messy, drunk bitch. Describe that.” Emily isn’t here to be cool. Emily is here to roleplay.
I had never heard the word brindled before now and Brennan uses it to describe two separate animals in this ep.
Siobhan rolls a nat 20 to dispel magic on Ricky which is objectively good but also I would have loved for him to be a dog a little longer. Also, this moment makes me really, really want to get some backstory on Misty. Like, clearly there are some serious Fae Shenanigans going on with her and I need specifics yesterday.
Also, Ricky comes back with pointier ears and wolfier senses and I’m just picturing Channing Tatum in Jupiter Ascending.
Before I forget, Sophie, Pete, and Misty yoink magical items from the magic bodega within the bodega La Gran Gata opened up. Sophie’s is a magic ring that amps up her punches. Misty took a mirror and Pete took a grill (like for your teeth). Not sure what those do yet.
The fact that this whole fight wasn’t under the Umbral Arcana and there are people out there that remember is a little concerning for me. I can’t quite tell if it’s the sort of thing that will come back or more of a warning of what can happen if the U.A. goes down again.
Post-fight, Sophie asks La Gran Gata for mismatched David Bowie eyes like the cat has. Siobahn goes, “That’s what you’re gonna ask? You drunk bitch.” But Sophie has her wish granted. I’m sure that won’t raise any questions with people who have known her her entire life.
“She’s gonna fuck that cat.”
So the fight’s over and they realize that the Key to the City is missing which I can’t imagine is a good thing.
This brings us to the RP ep, We Need to Talk About Pete, which picks up directly where the previous ep ended.
Ally and Emily go for the exact same joke of getting Guinness’s post-fight. Kingston–as a medical professional, Vox Populi, and sanest adult of this troupe–loudly objects (smacking the beers out of Pete’s hands multiple times) and wants to know what the hell is going on with the bugs they just fought.
Sidenote: Sophie took a level in Warlock with La Gran Gata as her patron because of *course* she did. I wonder if this was the plan from the beginning or if Emily was watching all her friends spellcasting and started getting the jitters from magic user withdrawal.
Murph’s “What?” face when Emily says, “I’ll be waiting, but not in an impatient, desperate way,” is gold.
They search the bodega and find a thing of 1000 Hour Energy and Kugrash gives it to Ricky over Pete’s objections. They also find Holy Grail Laundry Detergent (Kingston pays for it), The Grill I mentioned earlier (Kingston hates this), and this bagel.
All the magic users show up. Alejandro wants an explanation pronto and everyone points a finger at Pete who explains everything in his typical, nonchalant, vague, kinda spaced out way which Alejandro is not digging at all. He starts to go off on the enormity of the situation and Pete starts dropping acid.
I’m gonna stop here for a sec to talk about how Ally is playing Pete. There are moments when I feel like Ally is doing something as a comedian for a bit. And there’s kind of a sense of, is this funny? Obviously. But what are the in game implications of this move? Like the running joke of Pete constantly being high on something is funny, out of game. But, in game, it’s massively concerning. And I’m really curious about where Ally is choosing to draw the line between doing the funny thing and doing the prudent thing. I almost said the in-character thing but Ally made a character so consistently bonkers that whatever he does could plausibly be the in-character thing. Pete is kind of a massive disaster.
Anyway, Alejandro drives home the point that Pete’s actions have consequences and have caused actual deaths at this point. Pete’s magic is internally going wonky as he gets more distressed (I really wanted to see a wild magic surge fail here but alas). But he’s still outwardly like a 4 on the giving a damn scale when the situation is a 13 out of 10. Pete is only half listening to this because he’s halfway out the door, smoking. Alejandro plans with Kingston to discuss Pete later.
Misty, always sowing seeds of chaos, suggests Alejandro stock up on Juul pods before they stop selling them completely. Kingston hates this (this is basically his mood for the episode).
Outside, Pete gets a text from Priya which ends with them planning a meet up for later after leaving her on read for a while. Pete dips without saying anything to anyone but Kingston who ignores him (and also Sophie who Emily hilariously guilts Ally into including out of character). Dipping on the conversation about how to fix YOUR mess isn’t the wisest move but Pete isn’t the wisest guy.
In the meantime, Ricky does the Twilight Bark to summon a dalmatian (yes!) to help him find the stolen key to the city. Kugrash turns into a busted ass dalmatian who has trouble keeping up.
Ricky doesn’t have the plate mail armor that usually makes a Paladin so unstealthy but he is so hot as to have the same lack of stealthiness which is one of my favorite adaptations of the game for this setting. Anyway, Ricky does the superhero thing of running through the city, helping everyone with a problem along the way, and loses the key in the Financial District which smells like death (feels about right).
Siobahn playing Misty as, “Oh, I can’t believe I didn’t realize it was Emma Lazarus,” when, in reality, she was the first person who made the connection was great. S/o to ppl who separate player and character knowledge. Misty partied w/ Emma of course because she partied with every historical figure that’s passed through NYC since she showed up.
Post adventure, people need to go to their day jobs. Misty has a +10 to performance but rolling a 3 is rolling a 3. It’s not her best work. Later, her assistant brings her holly, silver, and assorted other stuff which sounds like Fae BS if I’ve ever heard it. Misty cuts her off before she can elaborate more. I know we’re getting a secret spilling episode next time so I’m really hoping we get some Misty lore because she is being frustratingly cagey. She talks so much but says so little that means anything.
Kugrash sneaks into his son David’s house (while Emily learns a rat fact she clearly didn’t want to know) and Murph and Brennan tag team go for the proverbial emotional jugular.
Murph rolls a nat 20 on his investigate and so he gets a lot of his old files and puts together that Robert is Robert Moses–a famous historical figure in NY who I actually heard about for the first time very recently. Or maybe I should say infamous. He did a lot with NY infrastructure–especially highways–(Emily connects this to the Highway Hex immediately) and he wasn’t exactly the warm and fuzzy type. His bread and butter was working the system. There’s a Pulitzer winning book called The Power Broker about how he was able to amass power and influence. I don’t know enough about NY history to run my mouth off about the guy but the little I do know is in character with his T.U.S. incarnation. Also, just FYI, irl this dude died in the 80s. So, you know. That’s interesting.
Brennan, I guess: Why invent new bad guys when history is full of terrible people I just have to give magic to?
Brennan, continuing his tradition of letting people get emotionally destroyed by nat 20s, has Murph find a crushing letter from David to Kug which was never mailed.
Note: So, as I was writing this, my video timed out right at the line, “I don’t expect this letter to find you before my funeral,” which is kinda good bc idk if this is what I need at 1 AM. Anyway, back to the pain.
The letter reveals that David has devoted his life to stopping crooks like him (Kug) and that he’s mostly upset about how his leaving has affected the younger, more fragile Wally.
“I leave the letter because I’ll remember it.” Yeah I bet you will.
It looks like Kug is gonna confront Wally next ep which I am now even more excited to see.
So let’s move onto the SECOND big gut-punch of the episode. Kingston goes down to the station to give a statement about the Santa Incident. He sees a shit elemental in a lineup which isn’t super relevant to the main events but I can’t not mention something like that.
Anyway, guess what? Kingston’s ex (Liz) isn’t dead! She’s an attorney for the justice system of The Unsleeping City and she’s pissed the hell off. During their interview, he stops the tape recorder to cuss out Kingston for going on a “date” with Misty and for getting her involved in all the magical junk which means she has to do things like fingerprint shit elementals instead of being on track to be D.A. like she originally was. The way she described it made it sound like she was press ganged into it which seems like it shouldn’t be how this works, you know? Is there no blue pill option here? Also, not to be all grass is greener but I actually am a lawyer in NY (closer to Kug’s job, minus the crime) and I would swap with Liz in a heartbeat.
The fact that anything Kingston says as Vox is per se admissible is a cool detail.
Sophie fights an old man (Jackson) in a CVS and joins a monastery which sounds like a shitpost but it isn’t. With La Gran Gata’s blessing she is now a member of the Order of the Concrete Fist.
I saw the Staten Island joke coming the second Brennan started talking but it was still hysterical when it landed.
At the same time, Pete is getting knuckle tats because, sure. And he also goes to see Priya who I am baffled was with him for any length of time. Maybe it’s the artist thing?
Also, Sophie keeps postponing her meeting with Mario which is concerning to me. The story is still happening when you’re not interacting with it. Brennan specifically said when she texted him that she got no response which doesn’t make me feel good about what’s going on with him.
Ricky has three super jacked, fratty firefighter bros, all named John who are like woke as hell. I wish I could follow the dude around for a day because every single facet of his life is wild.
Well, this episode promised we were gonna talk about Pete so let’s talk about Pete.
The gang, sans Pete, meet up with the magical powers that be to discus the destruction the newest Vox his leaving in his wake.
Sidenote, wild that Sophie has been magic for like 15 minutes and got to go to this meeting.
Alejandro wants to know what the plan is for if Pete’s powers go off the rails again. Kingston, who has clearly seen Old Yeller, offers the most drastic solution immediately: if it comes to it, we take him out. (Cut to Ally’s “Yikes” face). Kug, Sophie, and Ricky push back on that.
Misty, hilariously (and also suspiciously), is mainly concerned about NY because she needs theater to keep happening. This woman is chaotic something and I’m not convinced it’s chaotic good yet.
Anyway, I already did my big write-up on this part of the episode, but I’ll say it again: Kingston is right. He’s harsh but he’s right. This is some Phoenix Force BS that’s happening and do you know how that arc ends (the OG one, not the million other Phoenix Sagas that have happened since)? It ends with Jean Grey killing herself so she doesn’t lose control and eat another planet. Ricky is too dangerous for his own good and he doesn’t seem to have the emotional maturity to care (or at least to care at the correct level). Like, he was a drug dealer when this started which is already not ideal. He caused a huge mess and then just bounced without trying to help fix it. He thought that a week was enough time for human casualties to be water under the bridge. Frankly, not considering the nuclear option and just having to figure out if killing him is something the group is willing to do on the fly would be the more irresponsible option.
And not including Pete in the discussion would bother me more if he hadn’t openly blown off every serious discussion people have tried to have with him so far. If he’s not going to take things seriously, it makes sense they don’t invite him to the serious discussions.
The version of this story where Pete accidentally gets a bunch of people killed, finds out what he did, cries about it for a full day, and then finds out they’re talking about possibly killing him is a story where Pete is more sympathetic imo. But still, finding out that people talked about killing you under any circumstances has got to be rough.
IMO, the order of things that should be done right now are (1) putting magical training wheels on Pete, (2a) getting Pete trained or his powers transferred if it’s possible/he wants out, (2b) either way, getting Pete into therapy (like, he needed therapy before he got magic. now it’s just a matter of life and death–besides just his own), (3) talking to Pete again about the stakes and telling him point blank but not in while heated that there’s the possibility of a scenario where his powers go out of control and you have to understand that at that point it’s a matter of saving as many lives as possible. Like, Kingston can say, with conviction, “If I go rogue, you should do the same to me.” They’re in the same boat. Kingston’s just been rowing longer. Well, similar boats anyway. I imagine the Vox Populi powers are less inherently chaotic. And maybe the knowledge that a nuclear option is on the table would make Pete not want the job or want him to have his powers muted or something. Cool. Then you have that discussion at that point. Just, these are the conversations that need to happen. And maybe his own mortality will be the thing that helps get Pete’s head in the game.
What jewel did Ale take out of his pocket during this conversation? Taking note of that. (Juul, not jewel. Duh. Thx thethief )
Pete gets in touch w/ Alejandro’s granddaughters who tell him that Alejandro’s still pretty pissed (which is surprising to Pete but like, bro. People died). Then, Robert shows up to sweet talk Pete and show him the video (that he somehow has) of Kingston talking at the Pete Meeting. When I was watching this the first time I was like, “How long before this blows up in their face–oh, almost immediately. Cool.”
He takes Pete to his vampire nightclub and hits him with Pete’s own “I didn’t create the demand” line that you just know Brennan put a pin in to hit Pete with that Uno Reverse card.
Robert tries to get Pete to summon Nod and then just does it forcibly with some kind of blood magic when Pete is hesitant. Pete wild magic surges, kills a bunch of vamps, and Nod (super injured by being in the waking world) teleports them both to the subway.
The group (including Alejandro) meets them there so they can catch the L train to Nod but Epona shows up. And you already know from Fantasy High that Brennan is on the ACAB train (or is that AFCAB?). Epona is now wearing a crooked badge–crooked badge for a crooked cop. She wants Nod. No can do. The gang gets ready to–to quote Mr. Cubby-make some bacon while Alejandro tries to cast a spell to summon a train to Nod (the place not the person).
So I’ll see y’all next time (whenever that is) for some subway fighting and some backstory unlocking!

hiya so ain’t a normal post for this blog, think of it like a youtube video but text (i’d make this a video but i don’t have a good mic & idk how to edit), anyways this is a start to a series of posts i’ll sometimes make, the point of this series is to point some fandoms at other pieces of work like the thing that fandom likes, so like in this post i’ll talk about other pieces of work that homestuck fans might like
anyways most of the post is under the cut cause it might be a long but i’ll show the 1st 2 that way you can see if you like my reasoning, also i haven’t seen every piece of media ever so i might miss some things so feel to add in a reblog
(also the numbers i use aren’t to show the quality, it’s just what came to mind 1st)
1: borderlands
ok tbh this game is why i made this post, this game series has a lot of the same kinds of humour (though borderlands doesn’t to what i can recall have any ablest jokes or the stuff like that), it’s a very fun game series even for those who most of the time don’t like shooters as it’s kinda like what would happen if overwatch’s fun shooting mechanics had a baby with diablo 2‘s skill trees
the story is really great, taking a lot of cues(and names) from greek legends, also a hot tip, you really don’t need to play the 1st game, just start at borderlands 2 then go to pre sequel and then tales from the borderlands and you should be fine
also there are quite a few lgbtq+ characters (including a canon lesbian relationship that can end in marriage, i say can as it’s a part of a game where what you say and do can have things end in other ways), and there is also a lot of room for oc making as it takes place in it;s very own world that has a lot of things no other story really has
2: Undertale/Deltarune
ok you most likely know about at least Undertale but hey this is my post and i get to add what i want. anyways Undertale’s story is this: once a upon a time monsters and humans both lived above the ground but one day a war started, humans with their determination sealed the monsters deep beneath Mount Ebott, creating a barrier only a human soul could pass, one day a child climbs Mount Ebott and falls into the undergrond, the way this tale ends is up to the player
ok so there are quite a few characters that you get to know well, they all have backstorys that are quite the tales, there is canon lgbtq+ characters (including a canon relationship with two of the woman characters, a non binary protag and trans coded characters),
it’s also a very funny game and the story is one of the best story's i’ve ever heard, also if you like the music of homestuck then you’re gonna love this game’s music as it was made by toby fox (some of his songs from homestuck are: Black, Descend, Savior of the Waking World, MeGaLoVania, ect)
now Deltarune isn’t a full game yet and only chapter 1 is out rn but if you’ve already played Undertale then give this a go
3: My Hero Academia
ok so a lot of you already know about this anime but i still feel i should about it. So the show’s plot is about a world where most people have superpowers called Quirks, the main character (named Izuku Midoriya) has the dream of be coming a superhero like his role model All Might but he has a problem: he was born without a Quirk, the show has him slowly learn how to be a hero, make new friends and fight evil
there are a lot of characters so if you liked the bigger cast size of homestuck then this will be great. the fights are very well done and the super powers are well done, there is also a lot of room to make oc’s so if you liked making oc’s this show should be great for you

4: danganronpa
did you like the murder in homestuck? wish there was more and it was somehow more nuts? well then these games (plus anime and book or two) are for you!
the 1st game story is this: you are Makoto Naegi, a student of Hope's Peak Academy, who finds himself trapped in a game of mutual killing among his peers, in Hope's Peak Academy everyone is some kind of Ultimate (of skills or things like being a robot), Makoto Naegi is the Ultimate Lucky Student witch is a Ultimate given out in a lottery
the games have a lot of unique characters and a story about as messed up as homestuck, there are also canon lgbtq+ characters but for the most part most are only coded (and the ones that are canon don’t uh really get any happy endings), also due the whole Ultimate thing there’s a lot of room for oc making
here’s the order that you’ll wanna use (bolded means you need to see or else later things won’t make sense anything else is just a plus): Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc > Makoto Naegi Secret File > Danganronpa Kirigiri (may not be canon) > Danganronpa: Togami (not canon, also just save yourself from wasting time and don’t read it, it sucks) > Danganronpa 2: Goodby Dispair > Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc IF (non canon) > Danganronpa Zero > Danganronpa Another Episode: Ultra Despair Girls > Ultra Despair Hagakure > Danganronpa 3: The End of Hope's Peak Academy (there are two different complimentary series. The idea is that you alternate between the two of them starting with Side Future, then Side Despair so your order would be F1, D1, F2, D2, etc...) > Super Danganronpa 2.5 > Danganronpa Gaiden: Killer Killer > anything else to do with the main danganronpa universe > Danganronpa V3: Killing Harmony (not canon to the rest of the games, it is it’s own verse)
5: steven universe
so i’m sure most of you have heard of this but it’s really good so it’s worth sharing, here’s the plot: The Crystal Gems are a team of magical beings who are the self-appointed guardians of the universe. Half-human, half-Gem hero Steven is the "little brother" of the group. The goofball is learning to save the world using the magical powers that come from his bellybutton and he goes on magical adventures with the rest of the Crystal Gems, even though he's not as powerful -- or smart -- as fellow group members Garnet, Amethyst and Pearl. Despite his shortcomings, Steven usually finds a surprising way to save the day.
this show has so many lgbtq+ characters that if i tried i wouldn’t be able to list them all, there is so much room to make oc’s if you can think of a type of gem then you got a gemsona idea buddy cuz any gem can be a character and the story is really great
6: the adventure zone
ok so this one is a tabletop rpg podcast, so far there has been two main campaigns though one is still on going, the 1st one is called The Balance Arc it’s the campaign that was for d&d and so far is the only main campaign to be over as it has a ending (though they sometimes still do live shows set in the campaign), it’s also the one you should must likely start with, then the 2nd main campaign is called: Amnesty it uses the monster of the week rpg and is on going, this podcast is hosted by the McElroys
here’s what campaign 1 can be summed up as: The story of four idiots that played DnD so hard that they made themselves cry.

7: critical role
another d&d show! yeah i know but this one and the last one are very very different, for one everyone in this show knows how to play d&d, anyways this is a web series in which a group of professional voice actors play Dungeons & Dragons, that is played live every Thursday. There are two campaigns, one of them is over while the other is on going, both are already very long so you better have some free time on your hands
if you do watch then be ready to cry at least once
8: 17776
ok so uh this one is a bit odd, it’s on the shorter side os things and is a serialized speculative fiction multimedia narrative by Jon Bois published online through SB Nation, it’s odd but from what i know it’s good
9: paranatural
a webcomic that is made by the same person that made summerteen romance (y’know from Paradox Space?) anyways the comic follows the story of Max, the new kid at school, and the other members of the Activity Club as they fight ghosts, investigate the secrets of Mayview, and interact with their fellow middle school students
it’s a fun webcomic that has characters that you end up really wanting to learn more about
10: young justice
so this show is a pertty good way to get into the dc fandom, you don’t need to know much of the lore of the main dc verse as a lot of the stuff isn’t quite the same in the show so need to worry if your not the must into comics, the story is about the the teenage team of superheroes as they save the world as well as deal with normal daily life issues
it’s a fun show that can make you cry really fast, that goes from light hearted to dark very quick and isn’t afraid to kill off a characters
