who is this Nate?
Oh.
Oh, buddy.
Oh I get to talk about Natewantstobattle and you will regret this.
Tumblr media
So! I'm not a NWTB expert so don't expect a full bulletpoint presentation BUT I can share my experience!
Natewantstobattle is a nerdcore turned original artist who made songs about video games, anime and cartoons for years and only recently (last year I think) decided to leave nerdcore behind and focus entirely on original music.
He's made some BANGER songs, has the voice of an angel and seems to have the same enthusiasm about dark/demonic fictional imagery as myself ^_^
He's made a lot of FNAF songs which is how I found him. His music got him noticed by Random Encounters (RE) who make small-budget indie musicals based on video games and decided to make a five-part special musical based on FNAF for which they reached out to get Nate involved. He appeared and sang as a prominent character in that musical as well as plenty of others that they made. Markiplier was also in that musical.
Nate is popular with a lot of Jacksepticeye and Markiplier fans as his content focuses on similar games, leading to the same people finding him. Because of that, the fans' habit of making characters or "egos" for youtubers from their videos also extended to Nate and honestly while I still listen to his music I haven't been active in the fandom for a while so I have no idea how many egos there are now, but I'm desperate to rejoin the fandom space and catch up!
Anyway, the egos I'm very well aware of are Natemare and Phantom.
Tumblr media
Haha yeah, he kidnapped Matpat for that music video.
The video in question is for Mangled, a 2~ minute song based on FNAF 2. The character he portrayed was an instant hit with the fans and was subsequently dubbed "Natemare" as a play on nightmare.
Also in 2018 Nate released a limited edition Natemare shirt thus confirming the name as canon and also I have that shirt so cough cough.
Secondly, Phantom!
Tumblr media
MAN I LOVE PHANTOM!
From a music video for a song of the same name.
As far as I'm aware there's practically no canonically confirmed information about him other than he makes deals and steals people's souls. That lead to a lot of fans calling him a demon, including myself.
It took me five years to put together a cosplay for Phantom because I couldn't find one part! You'd think it would be the staff, right? Impossible to find an exact replica, right? No. It was the bloody shirt. I couldn't find a single freaking long sleeve red button up shirt for YEARS. I've got it now, though.
Tumblr media
His original albums so far include Sandcastle Kingdoms, Paid in Exposure and To Let Go. That one is actually currently coming out one song at a time on his YouTube channel and music streaming platforms. There's only two songs out at the moment and I think the plan was to release them slowly until they were all released by the time the album itself dropped, but it was announced last month that it's been brought forwards to the 18th! That's in FOUR DAYS!!!! The last song to come out was Forgotten on Tuesday which is the one you saw me blogging about. It slaps so fucking hard you have no idea.
If you want any personal recommendations for his music, my favourites of his original work are Phantom, Forgotten, All I See, Perfect by Design and Branded.
PIf you look up Phantom you may see it titled as a Hazbin Hotel song but actually it came out a good while before Hazbin Hotel did, he just realised how well the character of Phantom matched with Alastor from HH and released a remastered version with some of Alastor's voice lines over it.
My favourites of his nerdcore songs are Mangled, No More, Stay the Course, Time to Move on and Ask for More. That last one is about Food Wars. I don't even watch that show, that's just how good the song is.
Oh! As an addition that I almost forgot to talk about, he's also a voice actor! He's appeared in Attack on Titan, Fairy Tail, he plays the main character in Luck and Logic and has appeared in multiple video games like Dream Daddy, Yandere Simulator and Monster Prom.

what are some tumblr accs u think have the cutest layouts and works???
Hii this is such a fun question :D I really love so many layouts its kinda hard to choose but here's a list of people whose work I read often! I was hesitant about tagging because I kept getting nervous :,)
@bywons : LOVE the layout sm its so pretty!! Everytime I read a new enha post that makes me all mushy and has me kicking my feet I check the url and i'm like ok makes sense. Her work is fr like a hug and i LOVE the layout and colouring of her works <3.
@junityy : Such a creative theme, it's the coolest layout ive seen! It reminds me of a protagonist from a cyberpunk movie or aespa's concept. Plus I enjoy reading her work sm, I loved the 5 love languages with enha, it was SO CUTE 🩷
@neos127 : her theme is so unique and fun! I just love the way she writes for Jake, it's just...so him. All the jake girlies enjoy her work, I twirled my hair reading the spiderman fic T.T her narratives are so creative!!
@wonwayne : banger after banger. I've never seen better characterisation and perfect balance of fluff and angst that gets you so so worried but hits you with immediate comfort.
@lilacnini : layout is so ✨️😍☝️adorable theme, it's so sparkly and neat it reminds me of wjsn concepts ✨️. Her masterlist is the morning newspaper to me, so diverse and fun to read.
@eun-luv : has the prettiest sets/themes. I love going through her blog like its pinterest. It's literally asmr but visual. It's so calming and great for inspiration when you're feeling low.
@hoonvrs : i love her blog's colour scheme and the cat header 🐈‍⬛️. Also the funniest enha writer ever, not kidding. I love her smaus they're so creative and fun! Her fic writing style is so nice, it's so descriptive, expressive and subtly humorous. Noona 🤝 21 century girl
@zreamy : love her theme, the colours remind me of the orange flower album. I have never been the same after reading her work, each work I've read felt like an out of body experience, not kidding. There are so many minute details that come to create something so beautiful, the narratives are so refreshing and realistic- i could write an essay honestly.
@asahicore : such a pretty layout, I love the colours. And her writing style? It's so interactive and memorable, moonlight was INCREDIBLE. It was full of passion, love and tension- i was on my knees with hope they would end up fine TT. I haven't even seen the movie it was based on and now I feel like the movie won't be able to excetute it like her.

ETHAN WHATS UR FAV MONKEES ALBUM i unmuted that one kj appa video post and went 😵💫😵💫😵💫 i want to give them a shot
omg Kate...... getting this ask was such a thrill okay but this is such a difficult question to answer... first of all the song from the kj appa video is "gettin' in" which is from their 1987 album pool it which is divisive because some people dont like it beacause it is silly 80s pop and some people love it cos it is silly 80s pop. but there are some true bangers and gettin' in is my fave song off it cos a) peter vocals😁 and b) its got a very talking heads vibe and i have so much fun with it. but ANYWAY my favourite monkees albums are
1. head (1968) - the soundtrack to the film and the only version spotify has is interspersed with like dialogue and soundbytes from the movie which is fun but a little annoying when you just wanna listen to the songs so here is a little playlist of just the songs
2. pisces aquarius capricon and jones which is more of a full album ^_^ and my faves off of that are daily nightly, love is only sleeping, words, pleasant valley sunday and she hangs out... <3
and 3. honourable mention to headquarters (1967) which is like... sort of an album and again the only version spotify has is the deluxe edition which has a gazillion outtakes and "alternate versions" and stuff, but my FAVOURITE version is the headquarters sessions which is almost like a live album cos its every recorded session including conversations and studio bloopers and other silly fun stuff. fave tunes off that album are for pete's sake, you told me, you just may be the one, and randy scouse git [banger]. my favourite demo of theirs is on there as well its called nine times blue and it makes me crazy ☝️
and if thats all too much heres my own monkey playlist #whatever it has all of head + the songs i mentioned here and some more.
and as a bonus this a fun playlist someone else made as an introduction to the monkees and honestly it fucks like you can start with whatever you want to start with but this is actually a pretty good intro to them if you can listen to it in order! okay that will be all thanks for asking i love you

why, you ask…cuz i miss him. and i’m not doing so well after dat one shot. honestly idek wat dis is, jus stuff which i wholeheartedly believe ig ? :>
love language : physical touch. his hands are always hanging around your waist or thighs. subtle touches and small kisses from him are everybody’s essentials.
favorite places to kiss : literally everywhere but mostly on the neck, nose, lips, thighs, shoulder and did i say neck ?
nicknames he’d call you : angel, princess, baby, babe and he’s definitely the type to call you cringe names just to piss you off.
his type : he’d go for anyone. that’s it. all he needs is someone who’ll match his vibe, someone who’ll understand him. the quirky, cocky, sarcastic, daredevil personality is his top tier. although he finds the quiet ones cute. at the end of the day, anyone. (cuz y’all are jus *chefs kiss*!!)
you’re gonna tell me the guy’s a smoker ? yeah no. he’s the cool guy who declines it whenever he’s offered.
the type of person to think that making cereal is a talent. and honestly, i agree with him.
his camera roll is full of pictures and videos. of you. the storage definitely exceeded its limit, and he has to upgrade it but he just believes that no storage can contain all the stuff because he’ll just keep on taking them. with no regrets.
his playlist : the type of playlist that gets you hooked from song one. he’d have banger songs. mostly underrated ones. slowed version ? yes, slowed version. it’s his thing. and your playlist is on repeat and oh, y’all’s spotify blend ? constantly played it’s illegal.
he’s a tsundere. not that he isn’t all olaf around the team and your friends. as soon as it’s just the two of you, he’s putty in your hands. absolutely, devastatingly adorable. so very soft, and he sleep mumbles, not sleep talk. every time you thread your fingers through his hair, your voice nothing more than a whisper, his thoughts pour out like rain. it ranges from ‘i’m so lucky to have you baby’ ; ‘fuck, you’re beautiful you know that ?’ ; ‘you have really soft hands’ ; ‘i could stare at you all day- no, forever and never get bored’ to ‘for some odd ass reason, i ship our history teacher and chemistry teacher. do you ?’ ; ‘baby, dick has so many synonyms, i’m jealous’ ; ‘atsumu and osamu fighting is like two gorillas competing for a rotten ass banana’. he’s a talker only around you, and you could listen to him all day, everyday.
if you’re the type to throw on mismatched socks, don’t worry, he does too, we don’t judge here. ‘socks is socks right ?’ he quotes.
sneaky kisses are his favorite. skipping practice to go make out with you ? sign him up.
kisses with him aren’t rushed. it’s the one where each kiss has a very deep meaning to it. like he wants you to know what he’s thinking.
is such a fucking tease, it’s frustrating. but is also the one who’s very needy for your attention. see how the tables turn ?
bullying atsumu about him being single is something you’ve both found amusement in.
midnight drives ? midnight drives. he’ll text you around the wee hours of the morning and ask you to join him for a drive, which you obviously don’t decline. playlist blasting in the back, your head hanging out the rolled down window, screaming the lyrics to your favorite song. cheap store candy wrappers are everywhere, a bottle of water, for which the cap’s already missing and you’re both arguing on who has lost it, the small engine sounds in the background. one more memory added to the album in his storage.
walking home from school, he likes to take the long route so he could be with you just a bit longer. hands intertwined, kicking small rocks and pebbles which is in his path, ears on alert, always listening to you, the quietness of the evening is all something he wouldn’t trade for the world.
conclusion : an amazing boyfriend, amazing human being, who i’m very pissed isn’t existing in this world.

tagged by @landoisokay and @bsaka7 to do my 9 favorite albums (with commentary. i had a lot to say...)
these are all relatively recent because i pick and choose older songs individually more than i listen to them as a single album. like i could pick at least an album’s worth of queen songs, but they’re not all off the same album, ya feel.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
in no particular order!! w some explainers below the cut:
dreamland (2020) - glass animals. i almost put how to be a human being but i’ve been listening to that album basically on repeat for the last three weeks so i needed to switch it up. such an experience of an album honestly?? where how to be a human being makes me feel like the main character in an over-saturated murderous movie set in miami, dreamland is like, over-saturated fast car movie set in tokyo (the like. hollywood idea of tokyo, to be clear). forever intertwined with midnight walks through empty cities during covid, driving too fast, the first time i hung out with people after getting to come back to college, neon lights on cinderblock walls and $12 plastic handles of liquor. fundamentally bittersweet as an album imo? but so full of bangers that you forget that it’s . really sad. tokyo drifting with denzel curry was my top song of 2020 and spotify helpfully informed me that i listened to it 30 times on my 19th birthday. lol. the “get loose, streetfighter” with the street fighter sound effect… oh yeah baby that’s art. it’s all so incredibly loud also a song of all time tbh. whole album is floaty and sharp all at once, insane production, the perfect sadness layered underneath, every song building into this brilliant crescendo… perfect album for 2020 eve for like so many reasons, i could wax on about this for AGES so if u want more drop an ask no joke it’ll make my week. still holds up soooo well
lemonade (2016) - beyonce. LOL. this album dropped right around when i was getting cheated on by my gf of. over a year. and then we broke up and i signed the papers to transfer schools the next day without telling anyone. so this album fr got me through uprooting my entire life to start over. (what timing, to get cheated on right as beyonce drops her got-cheated-on album). i knew beyonce belonged on here (too influential musically to me to Not) but i was stumped on what specific album to include (i had 4 on cd in my car in high school, for example, and homecoming: the live album felt like cheating) until i remembered how much play time this one got, and how much i leaned on the album and the visuals then (which. by the way. i bought on itunes bc it wasn’t available for streaming. used precious data bc school wifi wouldn’t let me download it. possibly the last album i bought on itunes??)
save rock and roll (2013) - fall out boy. oh man. 2015 me was on one bc i was a HUGE mcr/fob/atl/p!atd/green day girl but at the Exact same time. a 1d girlie. my shuffle would literally go from mama to up all night. ANYWAYS. was stuck between american beauty/american psycho and save rock and roll, but i think american beauty/american psycho didn’t hold my attention for long and only recently came back on my radar (has some very toxic inspiration won’t lie). the mighty fall ft big sean? life changing. big fan of rappers being dropped into songs that you aren’t expecting them to feature on. “i’m either fuckin or workin so the grind don’t stop” is a work of art. young volcanoes and save rock and roll were legitimately like. the most comforting songs of all time as a sad and lonely 14 year old
when we were friends (2019) - the backseat lovers. starts out so strong and keeps it going. what an album to listen to while absurdly into someone who then starts dating your roommate lol. just like, beautiful stuff. makes me yearn. crazy good to belt out in the car while driving
cleopatra (2016) - the lumineers. feels like home, and being dumb young and in love to me. i’ve been listening to them since ho hey played on our local membership supported radio station when i was . 11?? finally got to see them two summers ago and bawled my eyes out the entire time. this whole album no skips but also like. so overwhelmingly nostalgic and infused with feelings with nowhere to go that i can’t help but want to cry. i learned how to play ophelia on a piano in a basement of a dorm i’ll never see the inside of again lol. patience makes me insane and it’s literally just piano. the lumineers in general make a lot of music that makes me ache for times and places i can’t return to, but this album is pretty peak for it
lungs (deluxe edition) (2009) - florence + the machine. god florence just does not miss does she. dog days are over another local member supported radio station hit. i started listing all the perfect songs off and then had to stop because i was listing the entire track list. floaty and romantic with a heavy edge of morbidity and violence. remember when i said i love when rappers on songs you aren’t expecting? if you listen to anything from this post PLEASE listen to you’ve got the dirtee love ft dizzee rascal from this album. a long ass album that’s good the whole way through, i’ll truly never tire of it
ctrl (2017) - sza. i think SOS might be better and eventually take this slot but i’m trying not to let recency impact this too much. drew barrymore went quintuple platinum in my bedroom in high school. it really was the perfect album for insecure 16 year old me? speaks of growth that listening to this album doesn’t hit me where i live half as much as it used to, that instead of being like damn so real sza to things like . “im sorry im so clingy i dont mean to be a lot... lonely enough to let you treat me like this” im like. damn good song
hozier (expanded edition) (2014) - hozier. take me to church another song that member supported ad-free radio station introduced me to. what a fucking album my GOD. angel of small death and the codeine scene… jackie and wilson was literally like. the love song to me. still is can’t lie. need to be saved and have hands through my hair. every single song has lines that literally make my jaw drop, i feel like i discover something new on every listen through. “free and young and we can feel none of it”… foreigner’s god makes my chest ache. i can’t fucking believe this album is ten years old???
mt joy (2018) - mt joy. another album that reminds me of home; my whole family listened to this for months on end during covid. i’m your wreck is such an opener… “and whatever happens please remember all the laughter” like i’ll cry. my instagram bio is from this song lol. the bit where it shifts into what my family calls shoulder lean mode… anyways. ASTROVAN!!! A SONG ABOUT JESUS SMOKING WEED but like. also an emotional tale of assuring mom how music’ll work out even if they’re broke the whole time. whole album gives me Feelings. this might be the happiest album on this list and it’s. not really that happy. just a very specific kind of like. optimism. we move forward even when we look back. the world fails us but we build it better. idk. like the last song is a break up song, but it’s whole thing is “so if you worry, don’t worry bout me, i always wanted you to see the california coast-line on your own time.” so like yeah, love is burning out, but don’t worry about me. i told u. Feelings.
uhhhh no pressure tagging @mecachrome @freeuselandonorris @monacotrophywife and @oscarpiastriwdc

Green Day has been around since 1989 and theyre still producing BANGER hits please link one of my green day rec playlists because links dont work in asks but uhhh yeah
GREEN DAY ERAS:
pre-American Idiot (1989-2000)
focused on personal problems with a little "hey society sucks right"
that mostly comes in Warning (2000) tho
billie joe had really long hair in 1989-1991 look
Tumblr media
1039/Smoothed Out Slappy Hours and Kerplunk both have a lot of love songs
Dookie has general themes of growing up
Insomniac is definitely interesting. only like half an hour long tho :/
Nimrod and Warning are both explorations in genres and they have a really unique sound to them!
THE 2000's
this is just American Idiot and 21st Century Breakdown
both banger albums! just because they're both political doesn't mean theyre connected tho
seriously the worst thing you can do is treat 21CB as an American Idiot sequel. because it's not
some of the best Green Day songs ever on these two albums. just listen to them both fully honestly
2012
despite this being one year, it contains 3 albums (¡Uno!, ¡Dos!, and ¡Tré!)
do not listen to Nightlife.
Fuck Time is great tho
some amazing songs! about 3 or 4 per album
Let Yourself Go >>>>>>>
also Kill the DJ
but yeah not some of their best work
REVOLUTION RADIO (2016)
one album
another political album
again.NOT American Idiot or 21CB sequel. it's its own thing
this one's more personal to Billie Joe tho
so many good songs!!! especially Still Breathing omfg
FATHER OF ALL (2020)
no
well sugar youth is really good
SAVIORS (2024)
FUCK YES
YES
YES
YES
IT'S EVERYTHING I LOVE ABOUT GREEN DAY ALL IN ONE ALBUM
LISTEN TO THE FULL THING OH MY GOD
Check it out guys!!! It's so good!

Review #172: Bridge Over Troubled Water, Simon & Garfunkel
Simon & Garfunkel have always been hilarious to me. They are such massive goobers. Goobers with huge egos that dated/married/divorced beautiful women. Both insufferable in their individual specific ways. But also they make the most precious and beautiful music together. They know how good they are but lack self-awareness about literally anything else (like that they’re goobers). Everyone likes it though. You want to not like it because your Mom likes it, but you cannot deny its pull. You like it. It’s good. Have you met anyone that hates Simon & Garfunkel? I haven’t.
It really is good. It opens with the title track, which is a big, gorgeous vocal performance that keeps getting bigger. The accompanying music gets bigger too, without drowning out the vocals. The sentiment of the song is just so lovely too: I’m here for you, you’re my friend. It’s nice not to have an entire album of love songs.
Cecilia could be a love song, I suppose, but it’s really about a man who is desperate to reconcile with a cheating partner who sounds pretty toxic. I’d love to hear Cecilia’s side of the story. I really would. I think about this all the time. Especially because they are both such GOOBERS. It’s a really fun song though. When they do upbeat, they really go for it. See also: Keep The Customer Satisfied, Baby Driver (it has a sax solo, c’mon!).
These Goobers know how to put together a damn fine arrangement that makes some of their songs feel deeper: El Condor Pasa has a really Spanish feel to it with the guitar (duh) and some flutes. It’s a whole vibe, that matches the lyrics. Would I rather be a sparrow or a snail? A forest or a street? A hammer or a nail? These are the big unanswered questions in life, right? No, but it feels like it in this song because it’s mysterious and philosophical. This whole vibe thing is also successful in The Only Living Boy in New York. It sounds like what it’s about, and it’s so beautiful. But totally different to Bridge Over Troubled Water and El Condor Pasa. The slower more ballad-y songs on this album sound like a damn Bob Ross painting.
The Boxer is maybe (???) the most well-known song on this album, but that’s based in absolutely no fact whatsoever on my part. I have no idea. It just seems like most people know that one. Like it got more radio play or something. I like it a lot, but there’s low registering repetitive sound running through it that has always just sort of bugged me. Possibly because I just cannot identify what the instrument is? What is that sound? It could be a cello/double-bass, or some kind of horn, or honestly even a percussion type thing. But I don’t know what it is. Honestly it kind of sounds like a duck to me. I’ve even wondered if it’s a kazoo. I haven’t looked it up, but I could. But will I? I’ll just forget about it until the next time I hear it: Sometimes (often) the duck kazoo is all I can focus on instead of the rest of the song which is pretty fucking pretty.
For a really soft, folky, gentle record made by two goobers, I would also definitively state that it’s somehow full of straight bangers. I could elaborate further on that but I’d suggest you listen to it yourself and you’ll see what I mean.
ETA: it’s a damn BASS HARMONICA. I honestly wasn’t that far off with the kazoo. Also, The Boxer took over 100 hours to record. This blew my mind.

A Hard Day's Night: A 16yo's (horrible) album review pt.3
Tumblr media
A Hard Day's Night: Catchy, she's so nice! She's like, a classic. Wasn't there that movie made with this same name or am I tripping? Dude making these reviews is like, giving me carpal tunnel I've never typed this much b4 !! Erm,,, but yea :/ this song is just a classic that's all I gotta say !!!
I Should Have Known Better: Harmonica goes insane honestly. Uh this song confused me 😭 like. i'm stupid??? I don't know girls this one through me for a loop. At first I was like, "Dang this girl's a runner she's out with other guys '-'" and then for a brief moment I was like no, "Okay maybe she's loyal she's just stupid and doesn't know what to say when the guy compliments her or something" I'm leaning towards the second option but the title still trips me up like, I should have known better what is that supposed to mean 😭😭??? Likeee,, "I should have known better that a girl like you would run off with different men" or "I should have known better that a ditzy girl like you wouldn't know what to say when I told you I love you" ?? I'm confuseddddd. Maybe I'm stupid. Help me 😭😭!!
If I Fell: THE DRUMS!?? Hellooo?? They're so cute !!!! They're so faint yet full it's so.. uh girl idk they're striking a chord with me. Was there a looping machine ??? Was that a thing in the 60s ?? If not that steady hand work was AMAZING. Good Job Ringo! 👍 Anyway yeah I'm familiar with this song already, she's another sister to me I love her!
I'm Happy Just To Dance With You: This song has like, melancholic undertones 😭 it makes me depressed. Not like, super sad but it's like, "Once this dance is over, I'll still love you" or something like that. Idk she's just so sad :(((( but I actually really like this track ! She's so sad I love it!!!
And I Love Her: erm, she's a bit too slow and sweet for me! I can imagine that under the right circumstances this song would be an absolute banger and just get me in my feels but right now a loud english class probs isn't the environment for this music idk.. but uhhhhh yeah. I WASN'T bored per se just mildly amused by her.
Tell Me Why: Girlllll we're getting drama???? Why this girl crying 😭 and lying ?! 😭😭 I'll tell you what these girls are! toxiccccc !!! Is it the same girl or multiple?? Because omg it's actually insane these girls are crazy or this one particular girl is just an absolute mad woman I can't tell 😭😭 uh but overall it's a pretty energetic song it's pretty good 👍
Can't Buy Me Love: Okay I heard the first line or whatever and I was like, "sugar daddy :3" what. girl nevermind. He wants a girl who doesn't want material things from him that's so sweet!! Apparently Paul and John turned their backs on Money from their previous album but whatevs I get it. Sometimes people are in a mood 👀. Uh I liked the song but the girl could bark she was a little loud for me idk 😭
Any Time At All: This song sounds a bit more modern idk but oh em gee he's gonna be there for you! Not in like a romantic way (but it could totally be seen as such) but in like a friendly sweet way !! Super cute idea for a song. Unfortunately Bruno Mars has already capitalized on such an idea with that one song that I cannot remember for the life of me rn idk
I'll Cry Instead: Teehee this song is evil >:3 !!! Revenge is real and this girl is gonna be a victim!!! I love itttt it's so catchy and just makes you wanna bop your head along with it. 10/10 for her, she was exquisite.
Things We Said Today: A parting song 🤨 hmm interestinggggg. Girl they had A LOT to say in this apparently 'cause looking at the lyrics, it reads like a short story. I mean, I know that is technically what a song is but most of the time the songs read like poems this one goes crazy (and yes I know, some parts are repeated) but OMG she was a lot !!! Charming track but I didn't really groove with this one!!!
When I Get Home: okay when I read the title I thought this song was a threat I'm not gonna lie to you 😭😭.. it still seems like a threat to me. ALSO these songs need some gut to them !! These tracks have the potential to sound more angry but they won't do it and I'm trying to understand why. The Beatles have made some angry sounding songs before (but that's for a later albums) and they've all sounded fantastic. I get that the songs at the time (60s) were all lovey dovey and cute and not so aggressive but RAAHHHHH it's so frustrating to hear the same thing over and over again. But anyway yeah I feel like this song was just too repetitive for me :/ EDIT: okay listened to this song multiple times I completely misunderstood it but the rant is STAYING !!!!!
You Can't Do That: uh this girl's a runner !!! Quick someone get her, someone watch her 😭😭😭 this song is a pretty tame response to the knowledge that your girl is talking to other people. Also this dude is oddly obsessed with his reputation like, boy, reputation don't mean nothing if your girl doesn't even respect you that much ?? I don't know i've been mean with these reviews don't mind me I'm just crazyyyy this album review has been a mess 😭
I'll Be Back: this relationship is not healthy wut. He left her just to see if she would chase after him. You know what good on you girl 'cause that was a crazy thing to do on his part. Uhm overall (despite the weirdness in the relationship dynamic) I think it was the perfect track to close out an album with. It's not using all the tricks in the playbook but it's also not completely lacking either !! It's was also a very chillaxed song and not too overbearing. I liked it!! Probs won't listen again but idk I could totally be lying don't listen to me!
More Reviews on the way, next up: Beatles for Sale...

It's here!!!!!!! The Ryuseitai Trip Album cover is finally here!!!!!
Ahh, my sweet boys, they all look so pretty and cool and handsome! And I love how their outfits remind me of their Comet Show oufits! Tetora, Midori, and Shinobu are all up front, taking center stage in the shot while Chiaki and Kanata are to the sides and more to the back. But they're all standing together, as one unit! Five incredibly and wonderful individuals who make up the brilliant Ryuseitai!
youtube
And here's the preview for Ryuseitai's new song, which we'll get an MV of once we get the album release on March 6th, New Daybreak! Once again, Ryuseitai refuses to release any bad songs, it's banger after banger after banger with them!
Looks like the lyricist is Maori Kodama. I can't find any information on them other than they're also the one who wrote the lyrics for Bokura no Stella from Ryuseitai's Stella Maris story. And that song is the current love of my life, so I totally look forward to hearing what lyrics they came up with for New Daybreak! EDIT: Okay, turns out Google Translate and the Enstars Wiki was just lying to me...The lyricist's ACTUAL name is Saori Kodama. In which case, there is PLENTY of info on her! She has a long history of song writing under her belt, with plenty of anime being graced by her music. And, from what I'm seeing, it looks like she was especially involved in magical girl anime! She also has written prior stuff for Enstars other than Bokura no Stella and New Daybreak. So yeah, how fun that Ryuseitai's new album will have both tokusatsu AND magical girl influences!
The arrangement of the song is being done by Shuhei Naruse. He's done compositions for several Kamen Rider series and some Mega Man anime as well!
And the composer of the song is Hironobu Kageyama. A singer and composer who has done a TON of music for a variety of tokusatsu series as well as several anime, including famously being the singer for Dragon Ball Z's first, and honestly most well known, opening theme "Cha-La Head-Cha-La".
Having two people who are known for their work on tokusatsu shows working on a song for Ryuseitai is perfect! And from the preview alone I am already loving the feel of this song. Can't wait for the full version.....Especially when we get the MV!!!!
So yeah, I've already preordered the limited edition version of the album. So I am ready for that Ryuseitai musical goodness! Especially since we will be getting full versions of Bokura no Stella and Relax Paradise too! Aaaaaahhhh!!! I love you Ryuseitai!!!!!

i was gonna make a review abt every song on All Or Nothing but i really dont have much to say about the music itself or at least every song individually? my fav is. it hits different. it's so fucked up how it has THAT TITLE and is also the fucking best song on the album like thats unfair. thats cruel. honorable mentions go to cheeky bants/project x for the kinda mario menu-esque vibe, phantasy land for the evil title AND feeling very mallcore, high score hotel for having a bit of that anamanaguchi flavor, moon chair for being pretty, also spooky week and are they fighting both having the spooky scary vibes i fuck with LOL.
i think my overall thoughts are honestly, idk how well 80s synthwave specifically fits with the dapg vibes???? like the chiptune stuff def works, like theres a precedent there with endless fantasy in the og dapg trailer on phils channel, the kevin macleod bangers usage in older vids among other things, but idk when i think of dapg outside of what theyre trying to do w the brand i dont rlly necessarily think of chill lofi beats to relax to ykwim lol. not that i dont fuck with the vision im just saying dnp arent necessarily chill nor relaxing LMAO but thats what i love about them! but maybe w this new branding thats like what theyre trying to give off now? idk who knows. all in all its pretty cool i fuck w it, next album should go full chiptune or fuck it dnp hyperpop album maybe lean into the like scenecore sparkledog of it all 100 gecs x dnp when

Conversation
Jack Saunders, BBC R1
Louis: Hello, hello!
Jack: It's good to have you back, thanks for coming in!
Louis: Thanks for having me back!
Jack: Of course, any time, mate! You're in to get some fun, can't have enough, can you?
Louis: I love it, lad, love it!
Jack: Last time you were here, you were in 2019, [...] and we played this game, called "Keep or delete?". Do you remember what happened during that game?
Louis: Not specifically, I do remember the game.
Jack: Ok. Let's see if this docs your memory.
Jack: [replays the 2019 game which Louis says he would get rid of Arctic Monkeys' I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor]
Louis: I must've turned up drunk that day, I must have, honestly. That's a crime! What was The Strokes song? What was it again? Did you know?
Jack: Yeah, yeah, it was up against The Strokes, good memory, it was Last Nite, by The Strokes.
Louis: It's a though pick, but I don't imagine why I picked that? "I Bet You Look Good On The Dace Floor" is a super nostalgic song for me, to be fair.
Jack: Last time was carnage and we will hopefully get it tonight, especially with the end of your tour. You been super busy, man. Especially with this Indie festival you run as well, at Malaga.
Louis: Yeah, man, I mean, that's been a dream of mine for a long time to put out an event like that, to be fair.
Jack: Do you kinda of feel having a responsibility to, I guess, be a platform for your music fans, something that your fans might not normally experience?
Louis: Yeah, that's why I like doing those things and that's also why I like picking the right supports on my tour. You know, especially with bands like Stone, I don't know if any of my fans would've heard of them specifically if I had not brought them to the festival, for example. So those kinda of things are definitely fulfilling for me.
Jack: I'm glad you brought up Stone.
Louis: Oh, they are amazing lads!
Jack: Who else did you had on your festival?
Louis: So Voodoos opened up, then SunRoom who supported me American-in the US tour, then Hi? and then we had The Vaccines. I'm proper honoured, man, for them to play the festival.
Jack: So you didn't do this thing half, you went in full wag. Did you had a dream with them afterwards, as well? Did you get to hang out with them?
Louis: Yeah I did, to be fair. I think, not me finest hour, I went to club after, think I lasted about an hour before leaving quite drunk.
Jack: So, for your brand new music video releasing as well, and I think this was very evident with Walls, you clearly trying channel kinda your taste within your music [...] with BTM, feels like you've done it again, man. It's clearly something you're actively trying to keep going in the music, right?
Louis: Definitely! I tried to come up with something from the blocks that felt like a statement of intend, felt ambitious, it's got that big chorus and yeah, even the album as a whole, I think it's a much better representation of me, as an artist, and not saying the first one isn't, it's just... On your first album there's so much room for over thinking.
Jack: I mean, it's a different prospect being on your own compared to being in a band.
Louis: Oh, definitely.
Jack: You were finding yourself over there, on your own, so there's gonna be an element of development still going on. I'm glad you brought the chorus up as well, coz that's the first thing that I thought when I listened to the track. I was like 'This chorus feels so BIG'. For you, those kinda of like BIG and kinda of indie choruses that you think about, what comes to mind? The ones that you always hammer or sing along? That kinda of thing...
Louis: You know what, the irony is the first thing that comes to me mind in terms of a chorus that I can remember singing, is ‘I Bet You Look Good On The Dancefloor’, which I cancelled the last time I was here, like an idiot!
Jack: [laughs] I'm not surprised, man, that is essential, a banger, isn't it?
Louis: It is, it is!
Jack: You worked with [producer] Mike Crossey on this one
Louis: [nods] Yeah
Jack: Now, look, I've got a list of the credentials to display. He's worked with Yungblud, [lists other artists], Arctic Monkeys - you can tell Mike you got rid of one of his songs--
Louis: No, no, I didn't it, I didn't it!
Jack: Well, you have been on tour for what we've talked about, you been pretty close to fans over the last few months and probably your whole crew, to be honest. Anyway... You should probably know them pretty well, do you agree?
Louis: I'd say so, yeah. I hope so.
Jack: Well for the first ever time on the Radio 1 show, Louis, we're gonna play a game of how well do you know your fans.
Louis: Okay
Jack: Okay. We've got self confessed super fan Ali with us right now, she's gonna post 5 questions about herself and her fandom view and all you gotta do is get the right answers, Louis. Is as simple as that!
Louis: I could be wrong, but I think I know Ali.
Jack: You do?
Louis: I think, I think if it's the same girl I'm thinking of--
Jack: Lets meet Ali.
Fan: [introduces herself] I travelled to see you all over the world, but how many gigs have I travelled to to see you as a solo artist? [lists options]
Louis: If she's asking the question, gotta be a lot, 50 is a lot, so let's go with 33.
Fan: What's the single longest journey I did to a show? [lists options]
Jack: You must heard of some fans travelling crazy distances to come and see you.
Louis: Oh, definitely!
Jack: What's the maddest or maybe longest you heard of?
Louis: I feel like there was a few people at the AFHF2 that came from South America, which is like... Crazy! I mean, shot in the dark, let's go C. I do think it was the girl that I thought it was. I can recognise the voice, I think so.
Fan: I've been holding up a thing at your gigs, what is it that I hold up? [lists options]
Louis: Now this just kinda confused me because this is not the girl I thought it was but there is someone, I should know the lyrics by now but some of the One Direction songs, I didn't sing all parts in it and I covered it and first few shows this girl held up the lyrics so I'm gonna go with lyrics.
Jack: I mean, have you seen many blow out flamingoes?
Louis: I haven't seen one, to be fair. So that's pretty random.
Fan: A fun fact about you is that you can do farts with your arms--
Louis: [laughs]
Fan: Can you guess a fun fact about me? [lists options]
Jack: Do the armpit!
Louis: Nahhh... A bit sweaty under there to be fair.
Jack: Cmon, do it
Louis: Nahhhhhhhhhhhh
Jack: It's too lubricated [both laugh]
Louis: So...
Jack: [Re-lists option A]
Louis: Surely no chance
Jack: [Re-lists option B and C]
Louis: I mean, even for a super fan, that'd be hard. Let's go B. Let's go B.
Jack: You think?
Louis: No sense of smell? I've heard of that about before to be fair. Yeah, so let's go with that.
Fan: Out of all the show's I've seen you, can you guess which one was the favorite? [lists options]
Jack: What was your favorite out of those ones? Well, what was your favorite show on the last tour you've done?
Louis: It's hard, it's kinda cliche but the last gig that I played, which was in Milan, right at the end of the tour, honestly for the first 4/5 songs it just felt like the whole year flashed before my eyes. It was a massive massive gig, that was by far the biggest gig of the tour--
Jack: San Siro? You're a football fan as well, that's gotta be like so!
Louis: Yeah, yeah! Honestly, honestly, really really really special, so that, for me, would be my favorite. Surely, is her favorite as well, I'm gonna go with that.
Louis, getting question #1 answer, wrong: That's crazy, crazy! What a legend! I played maybe 70 shows this year, so she must've come to most! That's madness. [Jack: 3/4 of the show] About right!
Louis, getting question #2 answer, wrong: Incredible, man, incredible. I hope I get one of these rights.
Jack: So do I, is not looking good right now.
Louis: I love my lot, I thought I knew plenty about them! Clearly not!
Louis, getting question #3 answer, right: [laughing] Nice, nice. I know who it is now, I know who it is now.
Jack: So she hold up at every single show?
Louis: Yeah, there's a couple of times where I feel [...] I don't remember and I'm like 'Who's got lyrics?' and I only had to look a couple rows back and she's there, man. What a legend!
Louis, getting question #4 answer, right: [laughing] That's pretty strong, to be fair!
Louis, getting question #5 answer, wrong: I should of [got that right], really. There's a sentimental aspect to that that I missed.
Jack: I was gonna say that, because the way she's describing it, it was a very special one.
Louis: It was, it definitely was! I think Milan just happened a couple of weeks ago and that's why it fogs the memory a little.
Jack: When you did the Wembley one, did you feel sentimental? Did you think about how far you'd come?
Louis: Oh, massively. My relationship with that venue, we were put there together as a band, that's where I did my first solo performance with Steve Aoki, I came back as a judge, we did a lot of the auditions there, so I spent a lot of time there in me career but the only annoying thing is I fractured part of me arm on tour.
Jack: How did you do that?
Louis: Honestly the stupidest thing in the world, man. I decided about 12 months ago, I used to be quick when I was 18, a quick runner, decent sprinter, and I decided that I could still keep up with that pace. But I can’t. Anyway, I challenged someone to a race, and it's jsut... Honestly I ran into a wall. I sound ridiculous but the finish line was just too close to a wall and I’d just gone right into the wall and fractured me arm.
Jack: At the Olympics, they have a cushion in the end so they don't do that.
Louis: Next tour I’ll be investing in one of them, definitely!
Jack: Louis, legend! You know, 2 out 5
Louis, upsetti: Is not great, is it?
Jack: I think you know your fans well, I think you are just from tour
Louis: Yeah, that must be it, good lad!
Jack: Thank you so much for coming in tonight, rockstar, as always! Round of applause!
Louis: Thanks, as always.
Jack: Louis, one more thing before you go
Louis: yeap
Jack: I'm gonna give you a chance of redemption
Louis: I like it
Jack: Would you like to bring it (I Bet You Look Good On The Dance Floor) back?
Louis: One hundred percent, man!
Jack: YES! YES! It's been a long 3 years without the song, but finally!
Louis: [ha ha ha ha] Thanks again man, cheers!

HI HOWS THE ALBUM (← insane)
you know how when l(glu) was released april said this:
Tumblr media
[image ID: a screenshot of text from a page on the song lyric website genius. it reads, "underscores said, 'Everything was too sad. I wanted to have some fun.' the text is white on a dull grey background.]
i underestimated it and i am having a TIME. um so i wrote up some thoughts i had on every song (i don't really know how to properly talk about music but i really like underscores so i am going to say things anyway haha)
(SPOILERS FOR WALLSOCKET BY UNDERSCORES BEYOND THIS POINT. content warnings for songs discussing grooming, war, suicidal ideation and transphobia.)
track 1: Cops & Robbers
i remember mentally exploding when i saw the thumbnail for this pop up on youtube. every time i hear the beginning guitar section my brain chemistry just is like... YEAHHHHHH ITS WALLSOCKET TIME!!!!!! this song just feels so so fun—the "haha gotcha" tone of it, and the speed and energy, and the part where it's like "and its full of all of your money / yEAHHH!!!"—i looped this thing so much until the other singles came out (and then i looped those. a lot.)
i love love love the bridge of this song and it gets stuck in my head all the time
track 2: Locals (Girls Like Us)
it's another underscores and gabby start banger!!!!!!! i love the songs both of these artists make and this one is no exception. immediately when the intro started i was like YEAHHH!!!! and then when the spoken "good luck" suddenly turned into that loud sample "Good Luck!" i was honestly startled enough to jump the first time i listened to it.
this is one of the songs where i don't really get the full symbolism behind everything yet (the whole horse section in the gabby part... basically gabby's entire part actually because i am not sure what the things they mention symbolize)
i really like how the repeating words mantra extends basically throughout the whole song in different ways, and the chorus is so so catchy
track 3: Duhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
i really enjoy the wordplay underscores uses in her lyrics a lot... like how she describes a fishing lure to play into the "taking the bait" theme in the chorus (at first i was like "huh??? what colorful piece of plastic?" and then i was like OHHHHH!!!!) and how she indirectly alludes to things ("the name of my illness/is just one letter short of my own" - S*nny is five letters and i think this song is about S*nny's queer identity so the four letter word being referenced here might be LGBT??? not sure / and the "my favorite animal is engraved on the sides of my ribs" which i currently don't know the meaning of, but the person on Genius who suggested it was a reference to the creation of Eve makes a really cool point)
the transition in this song to the Patented Louder Ending Section is just soooooo soooo pretty... it gets me every time...
Tumblr media
shoutout to this "OH" in particular.
track 4: You Don't Even Know Who I Am
originally when this song came out (both unofficially in "The Story of S*nny", then its official release), it honestly was not my favorite, but now it gets stuck in my head a lot and i don't mind at all! the singing and effects pair really well together. I also really like the intermittent beeping sounds that occasionally show up.
edit: i was lucky enough 2 be able to go to a live show and OH MY GOD was this song SOOOO cool in it. the freaking lightbulb effect is so cool when i realized what was going on with it i screamed
originally when i first started listening to this song i really liked the last loud bit but now i'm not really sure why but it's kind of off to me now? i dont know maybe something about the notes is a little weird to my ears but i still enjoy
track 5: Johnny johnny johnny
oh my god. OHHHHHHHH MY GODDDDD. this song has been stuck in my head since my first listen and will probably stay that way for the next month or so. this song is so amazing. IMMEDIATELY i was extremely intrigued by the way it opened (i had never heard of the Johnny, Johnny hand game thing before, and upon looking it up i was like OH MAN you KNOW the song is going to be mind blowing when it has LAYERS like this).
i think my first impression with this song was that it kind of reminds me a lot of underscores's MARINA covers?? like in a really good way, since i think underscores has mentioned marina as an inspiration and it's so cool seeing how many kinds of music she can make
i also love how like... expressive underscores's voice is, even in ad-libs and effects like the repeated "whoops!" in this song... it adds so much to the atmosphere and the um. growing dread as you realize what this song is about and are more and more aware of the juxtaposition between its topic and its tone. (the "johnny's gonna be the one who finally makes me real" line gets me every time in particular.... aaaaaaa)
this song's climax near the end is also just so so cool... i love how it takes a ton of elements that showed up earlier in the song and suddenly puts them all together (the "johnny johnny johnny johnny whoops" chant suddenly appearing alongside the chorus and transforming as the two are played at the same time)
track 6: Shoot to kill, kill your darlings
HIP, HIP... HOORAY!!! ough. this song. man. MAN. i am so crazy about how well this song tells a detailed story while still being catchy and fun to listen to (same with pretty much the rest of the album too haha) because that is such an impressive feat. the repeating gun sound impacts between verses are so crunchy i love them.
the line where it's like "he doesn't like what she chooses to do with her body / but he's given over his body as well / you'd think he'd get it more than anyone else"... OUGH...
this song is originally written in a very like... mostly conversational tone, but it's just so so fitting when at the end, OMB just accepts that her friend is going to go to war anyway, and to reflect this mood change, underscores just. drops all the fancy lingo and straight up repeats "I just don't want you to die" as the instrumental deteriorates. OUGH$$$))
track 7: Horror movie soundtrack
for some reason i was not expecting the banjo? guitar? notes that played in the album trailer to actually be a part of one of the songs in the actual album itself, and when that familiar tune started up, i immediately got chills and was like "OH SO WE'RE DOING THIS NOW".
god. the "you won't get away with this" being introduced as a calmer line that is mostly said like a quiet vengeful promise to becoming a big part of the crescendo is so so cool.
track 8: Old money bitch
i think this song was definitely my favorite of the singles when it came out because i could NOT stop listening to it and thinking about it when i wasn't listening to it. it is so so catchy. i didn't know where this sound would be in the album because i didn't have the tracklist memorized and it was such a gutpunch to hear it RIGHT after Horror Movie Soundtrack; we listeners just got to peek at OMB's current state of mind--her fears of losing her friend and her bitterness towards everyone except her friends and maybe "the girls"?--and then we IMMEDIATELY see that mara is bashing her on TOP of that. bonus points if mara happens to be included in "the girls"--I think this song does imply that OMB and mara were originally on good terms before their "first big fight" at a birthday party.
track 9: Geez Louise
i was NOT expecting to hear a rock/metal song from this album and i was smiling so hard when this came on. honestly surprised that i WASN'T expecting this because she makes so many different things but omg.
during my first time listening to the album, i'd remembered there was a song with a 7 minute timestamp in the trailer, but i forgot what song it was and by the time the album was over i was still waiting for the seven minute song. this song really does not feel longer than an average song to me somehow and it still feels only like three minutes every time i come back to listen to it.
i just... MAN. this song first being loud and angry and resentful, then bitter and dismissive with the "we don't have to talk about it", then suddenly transitioning into a feeling of like... an epiphany about identity in henhouse!'s part, is so so cool. the repeating "we don't have to talk about it" suddenly becomes like... an admittance of a sudden unspoken kinship. it's so... augh...
i had never heard about henhouse! before this song and after i was done with the album i immediately went searching and was shocked to only find one song... i am so excited to see more from henhouse! in the future though
track 10: Seventyseven dog years
hold on... is that the scream sample brakence uses in hypochondriac????? (maybe it just sounds similar haha)
the "do do ee oo ee oo oh oh"s in the background fading in and out are so pleasant and the crunchy texture of the drums in this one are so nice and i really like how the song transitions very nicely in and out of busy-ish loud and quiet sections
it's a little hard to hear the vocals during the louder parts but still a very cool experience!
i don't really know what the significance of dogs in this album is yet but i am curious because they've popped up a couple times (this song, the whole "ilovemydog77" password, arg and song thing)... i wonder if it has something to do with "dog" being an anagram for "god"
track 11: Uncanny long arms
ohhhhhh my god oh my god. i already knew this song was gonna be crazy because JANE REMOVER but man. i got interrupted in my first listen during the first verse of this song but i was so bewitched by the vocals that i had the chorus stuck in my head until i kept listening. another AWESOME example of how much vocals have been growing and evolving since the past albums... all the singing in here is so good and this song is just captivating.
the echoey louder part of the chorus ("and i saw that my hands were in a different place than before"/"and i woke up and felt my hands all on the carpet") transitioning into that ADDICTIVE "i can touch my toes/without bending over") is just so so pretty.
AND THEN THAT PART WHERE IN JANE'S SECTION IT DROPS OFF FROM THOSE VOCALS INTO A CRAZY EFFECTS ZONE. when the vocals suddenly break off and stutter and you suddenly honestly feel a little scared at where the song is going and then it fades gently into strings and more echoey vocals. GAH..... this album and its ability to play with my feelings...
(currently talking about this song while taking into account the current theories on genius that it is about mara realizing she has stalked S*nny so much that now she is talking to her, she has realized that she has overstretched and done something wrong (the metaphor being "waking up with long arms"), then deciding to withdraw ("getting an arm reduction").
the inlaws callback actually blew my mind when it showed up. i guess it kinda is a bit of irony in terms of the Lore... originally the lyrics of kinko's DO fit mara because she doesn't necessarily have real struggles (but yearns for S*nny's tough upbringing and struggles), but NOW she is just realizing what she has done by inserting herself into S*nny's issues and realizing she could affect them and have a huge impact for better or worse... ough...
track 12: Good luck final girl
this song feels both really cozy and mournful,,, especially the tune of the chorus and its tone... i can't decide whether "i hope you get what you deserve/that's not how this thing works" is more bitter or hopeful, but i think that's kinda the point because the description of this song says it's about the main characters realizing how they should grow up
considering there are 3 verses for our 3 main characters... i thiiink that the middle verse is most likely S*nny's (it talks about a girl down the block offering to help her, but she rejects the offer and says she doesn't need "people like that" anymore; likely referring to mara, "the girl next door" whose interactions with her were um. yeah.)
i am not sure which in the top and bottom match with old money bitch and mara... i think the last verse is OMB mostly because of the "ive postponed my suicide indefinitely" line, and also because of the sudden tone shift of the song (no more guitar, ambient noises in the background giving the feeling of being around people but feeling alone, the repeating of a final line over and over at the very end until it fades away like in Shoot to kill, kill your darlings)
um yeah. good album. good luck. wall sock er 👍

My Thoughts on RUSH! Track By Track:
OWN MY MIND: 9.5/10
STARTING WITH A BANGER OMG It's so fire I started bouncing when it got to the chorus it's so good and an awesome choice for an opening track we're off to an amazing start. Very punk-esque and the lyric video fits the same vibe.
GOSSIP: 9/10
Obviously I've already shared my thoughts about this song and I'd be lying if I said it hasn't grown on me more since I made that statement. I've been singing it to myself everyday while I cook for like four days now. It's so catchy, the MV is a total vibe, and I do like the meaning behind it.
TIMEZONE: 9/10
These are lyrics to definitely scream when you're just going through a bad time. I mean I know it's symbolic of a long distance relationship but I feel like many people can relate to it. Also love that little sexy bit snuck into the middle there lmao
BLA BLA BLA: 10/10
ICONIC BADDIE ANTHEM IDC IDC IT FUCKING SLAPS AND SO FAR IT'S MY FAVE IT MAKES ME FEEL LIKE A BAD BITCH AND HONESTLY THAT'S JUST WHAT WE ALL NEED SOMETIMES WE NEED THAT BAD BITCH ENERGY IN FULL SWING YES WE FUCKING DO
BABY SAID: 9.5/10
I was pleasantly surprised by this one lol by the title I thought it was gonna be a ballad but it's very funky but like in a rock way and I love ittttt plus the lyric video with Vic just totally vibing made it even better
GASOLINE: 8.5/10
Obviously we've all heard this song before but I'm glad they put it on the album because I've been wanting so save it so bad lmao but it's such a powerful song and I can feel the activist rage radiating off of it every time I listen to it.
FEEL: 10/10
FAVE FAVE FAVE OMFG THIS SONG SET MY FUCKING SOUL ON FIRE THE GUITAR AND THE SLOWER PARTS TOGETHER I'M SO !!!!! Dami's voice is incredible and the lyric video is just... I'm being so normal about it.
DON'T WANNA SLEEP: 10/10
YES YES YES GIVE ME MORE ANGSTY HARD ROCK SONGS GIVE THEM TO ME NOW. Also the mini guitar solo at the end? Addicting. PLUS...that Lucy's diamonds lyric...A BEATLES REFERENCE?! +1000000 POINTS HOLY FUCK
KOOL KIDS: 10/10
Personally, I tried to avoid listening to as many concert versions of the song as I could until now because I wanted to go in somewhat blankly and I'm so glad I did because THAT WAS AWESOME I LOVE IT and I think I'm starting to notice a pattern with all the songs I'm rating 10s lmao
IF NOT FOR YOU: 8/10
This is a song that you need to have blasting in your headphones while you gaze longingly out of a car window while it's raining, watching the drops race down the glass and rooting for one in particular, only for them to join together to make one drop in the end and that's the only way I can describe this song. I can see Må performing this live and the entire crowd is just belting out the lyrics right along with them.
READ YOUR DIARY: 10/10
PUNK ANTHEM HELL FUCKING YEAH I'M IN LOVE also another astounding guitar solo? THOMMY YOU ABSOLUTE MAD LAD THE TALENT YOU HOLD IS INDESCRIBABLE. 100% ANOTHER FAVE TRACK. Also, aesthetically speaking, the lyric video is everything I wanna be and more.
MARK CHAPMAN: 10/10
SURPRISE IT'S IN ITALIAN I love this one so much I CAN'TTT it's so good it had me jumping in my mf chair !!!!! And AGAIN WITH THE BOMB ASS GUITAR SOLOS THOMAS RAGGI YOU REALLY POPPED OFF WITH THESE THINGS plus the lyric video is so special to me I know it's just them walking back and forth but it's special how they each have their own runway walk I can't explain it you either get it or you don't
LA FINE: 9.5/10
I've already shared my thoughts about this but it definitely has that Teatro D'Ira Vol. 1 vibe we've all been dearly missing and it's just an incredible sound that will always be iconic
IL DONO DELLA VITA: 9.5/10
If y'all thought LA FINE was reminiscent of TDV1, you're gonna LOVE this one. It sounds so much like it that I can't help but listen to it and be like "That's the Måneskin I know" because it's SO symbolic of their sound. The way I view it is that this song, just based on sound and vibes alone, is LA PAURA DEL BUIO's younger, more emo sibling and no I will not take criticism on that because I know I'm right. Also the lyric video is majestic and I'm right about that too.
MAMMAMIA: 10/10
Again, another one we've all heard and there's no debate it's incredible and I still come back to the MV and lyric video every now and again because they're just as iconic as the song itself.
SUPERMODEL: 8/10
This one has truly divided the fandom lmao but for me personally I like it and it's a song I listen to and then forget about for a bit and then I listen to it again and remember how much I love it. Idc it slaps and it's in my playlist for a reason.
THE LONELIEST: 10/10
Again, no question. The perfect song to cry to while simultaneously screaming the lyrics. The MV is a cinematic masterpiece and the song is so emotionally wracking in the perfect way. Damiano's lyrics are either fun and quirky, super fucking angsty, or poetically deep and meaningful there is no in between.
CONCLUSION: This album is a No-Skips album and probably one of the best albums I've ever heard and I will not be listening to anything else for the next month. Thank you and goodnight.

I feel like talking about music. I'm gonna post 7 albums that describe me. Shit that shaped my worldview, reflects my aesthetics, and all that other stuff. Puttin it under read more so no one's dash gets clogged.
Tumblr media
ZUU - DENZEL CURRY.
I'm a huge fan of southern Hip Hop. It's dense and eclectic and always so full of life and culture, everything from Andre 3000's thick Atlanta twang on Intl Players Anthem to DJ Paul's production on any given Three 6 Mafia project, it's just my shit. It all speaks to the state of living in the south and has made so much impact on the broader state of Hip Hop. especially in the modern day.
This album feels....so personal. Like coming back home and meeting up with an old friend and realizing you both still know that secret handshake you made up in middle school, or watching the emotional climax of a coming of age movie. I was as wild as I was loving in my youth, so tracks like Ricky and Speedboat and Shake 88 which reference everything from getting in fights in your high school Dickies and football hoodies to escaping hood life to spitting bars about neighborhood bad bitches. It just speaks to me and my experiences, It's always good to know there are other black dudes out there writing love letters and cautionary tales about the violent environments and close knit & loving cultures that surrounded them in their youths spent below the bible belt. I wish I'd had this album when I was 17.

2. VIVA LA COBRA - COBRA STARSHIP
I've been listening to Cobra Starship since I was about 15, and this album has never left my all time greats. It's so fucking fun, like an 18 year old stole his dad's credit card and drove up with his friends to hang in NYC with fake IDs. The bragging, slightly macho, slightly cynical, fun but not too stupid persona Gabe Saporta personifies on this album speaks to me so deeply and shaped me into the man I am today. He has the cynicism and self aware, sarcastic edge that only a former Punk making dance music could have.
Tumblr media
3. THREE DAYS GRACE - THREE DAYS GRACE.
Around the age of 13 I was carrying a massive weight; some of it was dysphoria, some of it was internalized racism, some of it was just plain average shit that comes with the territory of being a child under capitalist patriarchy. I felt lost and misunderstood, until I found this album completely by accident. Tracks like Home and Drown spoke to my experiences with abuse and the intense bouts of willpower and self sufficiency that I knew I was capable of but didn't have the courage to act on. I'd put these songs on in my room and drift away, all the pressures my parents and friends and school had put on me just washing away. It was loud and raw and angry and fueled the newfound passion and teen rebellion that would make up the majority of my teens and shape my worldview in adulthood.
Tumblr media
4. RUN THE JEWELS 2 - RUN THE JEWELS
The aggressive machismo on this album and the general fuckboy-isms of it all speak to me. Bars like "you want a whore in a white dress, I want a wife with a thong" and verses like "I got that dick in her mouth all day" are just standouts. Just laying everything out, speaking your mind, holding back no punches. The album also weaves in tracks about police brutality, class warfare, and the harsh reality of being pushed to do things you aren't proud of to make ends meet (Killer Mike has a bar about having to sell cocaine to a pregnant woman, and another about his wife being shot by police in front of his son.) I honestly can't see who wouldn't be changed after listening to this, or at least feel seen. It's a no skip banger from beginning to end, if you really wanna understand the essence of Jared, this is it.

5. SOUL GLO - DIASPORA PROBLEMS
Growing up a black kid who liked rock music was extremely taboo, back in the day. It earned you some level of alienation in both black and white dominated spaces. I'd always felt in between worlds; The gritty realism of Hip Hop spoke to me just as the maniacal, commanding essence of Rock and Metal did, and it seemed neither party wanted much to do with me.
Imagine my excitement in 2022 when I find out about Soul Glo, an all black Punk band from my town, who frequently scream their hearts out about everything from police brutality to fake friends to feeling ostracization and tokenization as a black Punk band, with absurd humor and such intense display of vulnerability unlike anything I'd seen before. Finally, I thought, a band that understands me. A band for guys like me.
Tumblr media
6. MOBB DEEP - THE INFAMOUS
I got way too high on acid while solo tripping last year and spent a lot of that trip freaking the fuck out. Doom Metal was too much, looking in the mirror was too much, watching tv was too much, everything was just too fucking much.
Except for this record.
This record saved my life and got me into Rap music again. I've cried to it as many times as I've lifted and shaken my ass to it. Though I've never been involved in the street life-- especially not to the degree that Havoc and Prodigy lay claim to-- I grew up privy to it. My environment was incredibly violent. A lot of moralizing by mass media and white people of all backgrounds was lost on me; my father sold drugs to keep me fed and to put Christmas presents under the table, and he'd brought a couple of sex workers into the mix as well (all of whom were incredibly kind women), I felt if anything or anyone was failing, it was the justice system that put guys in these positions.
This album is fucking ruthless. The Jazz and Boom Bap elements add depth to it that I can't really say any other Jazz or Boom Bap rap album has done the same way since. It's also incredibly vulnerable at times. These guys have more nuance and versatility than any other rapper of their time, and it speaks to me as a black dude of working background and experience.

7. THE SLIM SHADY LP - EMINEM
Anyone who's followed me for more than a day knows how much I love Eminem. I think he's witty, charming, funny, and a really down to Earth dude, which probably sounds insane considering the amount of violence and bigotry he spews on the mic at any given time.
This album practically shaped my life and the way I internalize other people's opinions of me. As a kid, I grew up with a pretty abusive mom, and as such always felt the need to apologize or shrink in on myself just for existing. I hadn't really learned how to nurture the spirit until Eminem. The rage, the insanity, and the violence, was all a sheen for an album that truly told a story of how to power through life only trusting yourself and a few other insane, close friends, but most importantly to not let anything get you down and to simply not give a fuck (and to tell anyone who insists otherwise to get on their knees and suck it). The guy spoke real shit and had the credentials to prove it, he knew what he was about and made his dreams a reality, and that was awesome to me.

i need to post something so here are some song recs :)
ミラレルミラー - Namitape: honestly namitape is terribly underrated, they have this retro/shynth style mixed with vocaloid which is something i haven’t seen much, but i love, just listen to them pls
2. Labios rotos - Zoé: this is the kind of music that makes me glad i know how to speak spanish, the lyrics are so fucking cute <<33 and it has a very dreamy and calm yet emotional melody, is just perfect, and THE LAST PART when the singer says “amor, amor, amor, amor” and there’s the smoll bell sounds there is just heavenly (btw im linking the video where i found the song, which is as beautiful as the music and the reason i watched umibe no etranger lol)
youtube
3. arabesque - lily chou-chou: lily chou-chou’s music is awesome and it only gets me more excited to watch the movie, but this one is my personal favorite out of all of them, just note that whenever you decide to listen to it, please take time to actually listen to it and allow yourself to feel the music, you wont regret it
4. backlight - ado: fucking badass, my favorite in the one piece album along with new genesis, its so fulled of rage you tense up and scream along it, it also has a catchy melody and finally, ado’s vocals are god tier (as always ✨)
5. tamed-dashed - enhypen: this feels like the kind of song you blast in your car while driving at full speed or you dance to like if you were in a club (even if you’re just in your room cuz ur lonely lol), immaculate vibes, absolute banger
6. one last kiss - hikaru utada: if i once thought beautiful world was the best nge song, it was because i didn’t know this existed. i dont think i have enough words to describe it, is melancholic but at the same time it gives you a sense of hope (specially one you check the lyrics), if something you always enjoy softly and i love it (if you check this out i’d recomend listening to the rest of the nge songs, they’re all bangers)
7. sweet dream - c!naH: and finally…one song of alien stage because is a must have lol, this is my favorite out of the songs of alnst, the retro vibe, the dreaminess, the mv, the slight melancholy…all i need to say is that i love the song and bonus points bc sua is my favorite chatacter and this is the closest thing to a character song we have from her
and this is all! pls tell me where can i find more songs like this ones (i have a VERY soft spot for dreamy songs) and, idk, im missing more so i’ll consider a pt2, have a nice day :)
