FARGO S5 DISC. & SPOILERS
gif set + pre-finale discussion below:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
i'm genuinely curious what is going to happen in the the finale of fargo's fifth season. not a single season of fargo over the years has ceased to amaze me - throwing the most bizarre plot twists at every angle.
as screwed up as gator is, i actually hope he makes it out. i think he's a disgusting excuse of a human being, but he doesn't completely lack humanity either ... which is surprising considering he was raised by a murderous psychopath.
now that ole' munch has taken his toll on him and dot has turned the ranch upside down, i really hope that he gets the chance to live. he'll get to see things the way they are and always have been ... now that he has been blinded.
i want dot to end roy ... and i want gator to help her.
i, personally, think it would be so much more moving for him to live with the consequences rather than to die as a sacrificial martyr of some sorts.

Lyon trying to trick Priam into becoming one of Fomortiis' servants, only to give up once he realizes Priam has too much experience and knows that any offer of easy power always comes with a terrible cost, deciding to go look for someone more guillible>>>Lyon being a perfect guy with no flaws and whose main trait is simping for the Renais twins; never thought i'd have to praise the Awakening Spotpass nostalgia-bait chapters of all things, but Heroes certainly has a way of setting bars unbelievably low.
TBH,
For some characters, the FE13 spotpass/DLC stuff has better characterisation than FEH!
Or...
FEH wants to sell alts, when FE13 wanted to sell "nostalgia" (that's totes why i bought all those packs back then lol), so FE13 could be close to the source material than FEH who wants you to feel bad for Lyon and his tragedy, thus buy alts where he's happy or lives his dream of being a "friend" to the twins.
IDK if FE13 Lyon was Lyon or already Fomortiis or whatever, but it's indeed more interesting to have him be the one who wants power at all costs - even if he had nice intentions (save the world, become the twins's friend) - and destroys everything he once hold dear (the twins, Grado, the world).
As my favourite FEH character says :
Lyon: “Thank you, Eirika. You were always…so kind. The Demon King will claim my flesh as a vessel for his resurrection. Before that can happen…I want you to kill me. I’m sorry, Eirika. I’m already-“ Evil Lyon: “Oh, please…Are you done turning your failings into some sad epic of personal tragedy… It’s time we started then. I have a ritual to complete…and some nuisances to kill.”
As long as they can make money, Heroes will continue to uwufy characters, regardless of canon (see Reinhardt).
But I stand with Fomortiis here, Canon!Lyon's failings led to his resurrection, it's not an epic tragedy, it's, at its core, the story of someone who wanted to rely on "cheap" power to gain everything he desired, and who was arrogant enough to believe he could count on and master said "cheap" power.
(cheap as in an easy way to get power)

— SMALL DETAILS. @lotuskissed: 7-9 for lilah
7. body hair; do they crop anything short? let it grow naturally? wax?
SHE SHAVES HERSELF OFTEN as part of her morning ritual at minimum 1-2x a week. She's not even that hairy of a person on her arms and legs, mainly them being thin and almost unnoticeable. Other places are a different question, but regardless, she doesn't enjoy the texture of body hair against her, so she tries to crop it as close as she can rather than leave it flowing.
8. name two or more things your muse can’t leave the house without.
Phone, Wallet, Apartment Keys - the holy trinity
Journal and/or iPad for Note-Taking/Writing Purposes
A good book/kindle, either an old-school literature classic or a pulpy romance novel
Cocoa & honey lip balm, clear gloss, and a small bottle of shea butter lotion
Lighter, an old habit she built with Virago that she just... kept around. She doesn't smoke herself.
9. does your muse usually carry around a bag/purse/backpack? or do they prefer to keep only what they can fit in their pockets?
LILAH IS DEFINITELY A MID-SIZED BAG KIND OF GIRLIE, definitely depending on the situation and what she's bringing. Definitely like a messenger bag or crossbody bag kind of moment. Something that she could always take on the go with her if something were to ever happen... that, at least, she had the essentials she knew she needed if she needed to run at a moment's notice... for no particular reason. An example of what I think she'd have below:

I hate French universities' administrations so fuckin much ! I'm currently changing schools and reorienting myself to do a publishing Master degree and in order to join my new university, I need documents from my former university. I wrote to them on the 10th of July ; they never wrote back. We are now the first of August and I wrote to them again because I still need those fucking documents, but, of course, because we're in France and it's the summer vacations, the school is closed so I won't have any answer before the 24 of August ! BUT! In my new university, they said that any document sent after the 21st of July means that my inscription will only be valid at the beginning of September. Except I'm going back to THAT school on the third of September. So, I just won't have any documents that will prove that I am, in fact, a student at that university the day I'm going to said university.
I want to scream and hit walls, and just, like, erupt in French rage about the f****** French administration

@askr I HAVE ACQUIRED MY SON IN HIS NEWEST OUTFIT
Finally, I have them all,,,, and Lyon Emblem can be a thing now 😭😭😭 (no ephraim involved ✨). I have no shortage of heartbreaking voice lines to weep over now :). Seriously, they’re all sad,, even summer Lyon with the way he talks about Eirika.... and how it’s like he’s ‘strayed into a dream’ ;^;
OH and the paralogue!!!! THE WAY IT PARALLELS WHAT HAPPENS IN SACRED STONES IS JUST ;O; (natural elements (disasters?) tearing apart what brings the twins and Lyon together. Specifically Renais castle in the paralogue, which does get torn asunder in FE8 bc of a certain prophecy of a certain natural disaster not to say too much.  like how is this not an obvious reference)
I am so happy ;w;

Someone deeply influential in a subterranean way to comic book culture passed without comment this week: female bodybuilder Lisa Lyon, who was 70. Even if you've never heard of her, I guarantee you've seen her image, or a takeoff of one of her images.
If she seems familiar in some way, there's a reason.
You see, every single artist in the world has it drilled into them that an art swipe (tracing from figure studies or other artists) is unethical, but here’s the thing:
Every single working comic artist does it!
Tumblr media
Is it really cheating if everyone does it? Artists love to mock Rob Liefeld for his art swaps, but it is possible to do the same if you dig into the art catalogue of nearly any comic artist, even today. Nowhere else can I find a better example of the old quote that "hypocrisy is the tribute vice pays to virtue."
Tumblr media
In any case, there’s no better figure at the center of this than Lisa Lyon, who in the 1980s, was a female bodybuilder who was the center of an enormously influential series of sophisticated physique study photographs by superstar photographer Robert Mapplethorpe. It sounds almost quaint to remember now, but Mapplethorpe was so influential that he was the first photographer to be called to congress for obscenity in the 1980s, based on his male nudes and study of the gay BDSM scene, in a moral panic that sounds extremely familiar. He was also the first photographer to get a video game, the Flowers of Robert Mapplethorpe on CD-I, which was essentially just an image gallery set to muzak, famously reviewed by a completely baffled Angry Video Game Nerd and his sidekick.
youtube
Mapplethorpe’s favorite subject was Lisa Lyon, and his photographs were so widespread that they were essentially traced and used for art swipes over and over by comic artists that need a study of a muscular female physique.
Tumblr media
So at different points, photograph swipes of Lisa Lyon were the model used for Wonder Woman, She-Hulk, tons of fighting game characters....it's impossible to list all the times a Lisa Lyon photograph was swiped. We may never find them all. Most importantly of all, she was not only swiped but was the physical inspiration for the appearance of Elektra.
Frank Miller always had a foot in the fine art world, and like his mentor, Philip Jose Farmer, was also interested in the theme of how violence is often a substitute for sexuality in the lives of adventure characters. Miller was always fascinated by BDSM (which to me, explains a lot of 300), and explicitly said in many interviews he based Elektra physically on Lisa Lyon and was a great fan of Mapplethorpe.

Update on the French protests: we've had a well-known expert in contemporary political history call the situation we're in "the worst democracy crisis France has known since [the end of the 4th Republic]" and meanwhile the government is trying its hardest to maintain a façade of normal functioning by a) hiding from protesters, b) hiding protesters from view, and c) banning saucepans and other means of drawing attention to the protests that are being swept under the rug.
I mean casserolades are an old tradition in this country but they wouldn't have been needed if Macron &co hadn't started almost systematically banning protests in entire districts of the towns they visit and setting up police roadblocks to prevent peaceful protesters from going anywhere near them. (Too bad because these are the kinds of images the media get (these 2 are from Le Monde) when protesters get to talk to Macron <3) :
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Protesters corralled away where they can be easily ignored started banging pots and pans so the protest could at least be heard in the background of TV footage, and then pans started being confiscated.
French courts have repeatedly struck down the bans as illegal but police prefects keep churning new bans out every time Macron goes somewhere anyway, trying to publish them at the last minute so there's no time for a judicial review. (I saw a sign at a protest last week that went "Stop with all the bans we no longer have time to disobey all of them")
After boldly banning saucepans by calling them "portable sonorous devices" last week, today a police prefecture banned "festive gatherings of a musical nature" in a town Macron will be visiting tomorrow. They're (ab)using counter-terrorist legislation for all this, so these days we get to read unheard-of court rulings that go like "We are suspending this prefectural decree as we do not consider festive gatherings of a musical nature to pose a significant terrorist threat to the President."
If Macron had people showing up in support I don't think we would see so many pissy protest bans because then the media could show backers vs. opponents and things would look normal (and not like 70% of the country is very pissed off with Macron). But there's not much for them to show if they don't show the angry people banging pans and it clearly rankles Macron—we learnt yesterday that he sent a letter to 200,000 political supporters of his essentially ordering them to start making appearances all over the country, to show they are "proud of what you are and of what our country has become [since I got elected]." That seems a bit desperate.
For months Macron &co have been predicting that people would get tired of taking to the streets in large numbers, and now that people are going like—right, let's try a new strategy, small local protests greeting gov members everywhere they go!—we're hearing a clear "no not like that, that's not what we meant :l " reaction from the government.
They've also been trying the strategy of announcing stuff at the last minute, like on Monday the Minister of Education announced at noon that he would visit a higher learning institution in Lyon 2 hours later, and a hundred of protesters still showed up and tried to force their way into the building. They were held off by cops using tear gas and trying to block entrances (there's a pic that made me smile, showing cops trying to barricade university gates with garbage bins—how the tables have turned...!) and the Minister ended up not showing up and moving on to the next step of his schedule (protesters tried to follow him there but police vans were blocking the street.)
The first half of the video is at the uni in Lyon; the second half is in Paris later that day. When he returned to Paris the Minister was greeted by protesters with saucepans at the train station, it's like a national relay race of protesting at times. He had to go back through the train to leave via the other end of the platform under police escort so as not to meet any protesters (god forbid).
Macron commented that this was "uncivic" behaviour and I agree, civic behaviour on the part of gov members would be to at least face the people they choose to fuck over, instead of hiding behind cops and fleeing. Obviously Macron was condemning the 'uncivic' protesters though, and the Minister said he felt "physically threatened" by the "violence of [the protesters'] speech" which is a shit thing to say considering on the same day that he was mildly inconvenienced by having to take a different exit and felt physically endangered by words, yet another protester was mutilated after being shot at by police with a rubber bullet. Not a peep about this incident (or previous ones) from the government. The Minister of Education never even condemned that time high schoolers trying to protest got tear gassed and threatened with riot guns by cops in front of their school earlier this month.
But while people continue protesting despite the actual violence from cops, our ministers are looking pretty scared of citizens banging pots and pans. Here's a list of official visits that got cancelled "for safety reasons" (saucepan terrorism) in the past week:
1. Minister P. NDiaye cancelled a visit in Lyon 2. Minister F. Braun cancelled a visit to Evrard Hospital 3. Minister Delegate O. Klein cancelled a visit in Bobigny 4. Minister Delegate O. Grégoire cancelled a visit in La Baule 5. Minister S. Guerini cancelled a visit in Castelnau 6. Secretary of State B. Couillard cancelled a visit in Rochefort 7. Minister S. Retailleau cancelled a visit to the Paris Saclay University (electricity trade unionists cut the power in the building she was supposed to inaugurate, so) 8. Minister C. Grandjean cancelled a visit in Toulouse (this article says it was probably because the visit was quite near a big highway protest where protesters among other things were building a concrete wall on a national road)
Tumblr media
In the same bullshitting vein as "portable sonorous devices", gov spokespeople have been insisting that visits aren't being cancelled, ministers are just "adjusting the course of their trips" which is funny to me. I guess we never beheaded any royalty we just adjusted the course of their necks. I also read a newspaper article that made me laugh, that went like "Minister cancels visit; trade unions disappointed" and I thought it was because the cancelled visit was a meeting with the unions which they wouldn't get to have, but the article said it was actually because they had a good protest planned and wouldn't get to hold it...
Watching protesters mess with the government in small ways on a daily basis has been good for morale—on Twitter the hashtags #IntervillesMacron and #IntervillesduZbeul popped up (zbeul = chaos, mess, and Intervilles was a TV game show that aired for over 50 years, where French cities competed against one another in goofy challenges). I only mentioned cancellations above, but fun things also happen on non-cancelled government visits, like a Minister having to leave a building via the emergency exit because of protesters blocking the building entrance (which some people argued is worth more points than a cancellation as it's more entertaining):
Tumblr media
Various websites were created to keep track of all these smaller protests and to officialise the point system that ranks cities on their efforts to fuck with the government:
Tumblr media
(the first symbol means a protest, the second means a casserolade, the last one means protesters managed to get inside a building where a visit was taking place)
Tumblr media
(Translation: Ruckus (saucepans, heckling...) 1pt Protest: 1pt Creative action (chasing minister in the woods, etc): 2pts Measures of energy conservation (= power cuts by unions) 3pts Action that leads to a political figure fleeing: 4pts Cancellation of a visit: 5pts — then there's a weighting system where the score is multiplied by 3 if it's a Minister, by 5 if it's the Prime Minister, by 6 if it's Macron.) (I also saw an interesting debate on Twitter this week—since our leaders often embarrass themselves, how should the government's own goals fit into the point system?)
Right now the Hérault department is winning because on top of protests, power cuts and casserolades, protesters greeted Macron with a giant "MACRON FUCK OFF" sign hung from a cliff (!) and took over a highway display so it'd say "Welcome to [region] Butthole Ist"
Tumblr media
These past few days I've been discovering unknown French cities (and Ministers) thanks to them showing up in the hashtag after a good protest. I discovered a mediaeval castle I'd never heard of when unions hung banners featuring our most famous revolutionary dates from the castle's battlements. (Two days later, another protest with eloquent banners in the Musée d'Orsay in Paris:)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
People are very creative—last week we heard that protesters got prosecuted for giving Macron the finger and insulting him during one of his official visits (< we are a healthy democracy), so protesters in another region tried a more sarcastic approach, and greeted a deputy from Macron's party at a strawberry fair this week with clapping and confetti and "Thank you for making us work 2 more years, thank you for police repression, thank you!" The deputy beat a hasty retreat. Then said he would file a complaint against the harassment and intimidation he had been subjected to. (The tear gas and riot guns and arrests and protest bans are not intimidation of protesters on the other hand. Or the fact that another deputy from his party recently said on TV that they were "ready for war"... They're ready to wage war, but run and hide when people clang saucepans and throw confetti.)
Anyway. I'm enjoying the fact that they can't even attend a small strawberry fair without getting heckled right now. In one of my first posts about the political crisis in March I wrote something like "How will Macron and his gov have any legitimacy to speak about any issues after this?" and it cheers me up to see a lot of people across the country agree that they have no legitimacy to talk about anything, not even the strawberry harvest.
The next nationwide protest is of course for May 1st, but in the meantime it's been really fun following the smaller protest actions all over the place. Members of government & Macron's party keep making whiny statements along the lines of this is terrorist behaviour, we can't go anywhere, why are people not getting tired of fucking with us and the answer is, because it's really entertaining!
This was the last sentence of a recent Le Monde article about Macron's situation and it has such a sinister, end-of-reign tone:
Tumblr media
"I'm moving forward," Macron concluded, on April 20th in the Herault department, while behind his back echoed the sound of saucepans.

Part of The Big Adventures Universe
Summary: Magda comes home from training
Tumblr media
Pernille injures her knee during the match against Essen. She scored a goal before it though so it wasn't a total waste but it was still horrible to watch her have to exit the pitch.
She's been stuck at home for most of her rehab while Magda continues to go to training.
It's a little hard going because Magda worries from a distance, barely conversing with her teammates at the end of the day. You've been staying at home too, insisting on helping Pernille get better because that's what your mothers did for you.
Magda worries over you too. Pernille's got such a limited range of motion now that she worries if you're getting everything done that you need to like brushing your teeth or eating your lunch.
Pernille can be a bit of a pushover when it comes to that kind of stuff when she's injured and Magda doesn't really like you snacking through the day rather than eating a proper meal.
It's probably why she speeds home every day when practice is over. It's ingrained into her now even though she comes home to a similar thing every time.
Usually, Pernille's set up on the sofa with her leg stretched out while you're either next to her or sitting on the floor. You usually have some toys spread out in front of you or maybe you're focussed on whatever show Pernille's put on to keep you both occupied.
Today though, as Magda enters the house and throws down her bags, she sees a different sight.
Pernille's passed out asleep on the sofa. She's clearly gotten one of the pillows from their bed because she's clutching at it with one hand as she snoozes.
A blanket is thrown over her body, one of the lightweight ones that you like to wrap around your shoulders and pretend is a cape. Speaking of you, you're curled up next to her.
Pernille's other hand is being used to press your little body close to hers. It's a safety thing more than anything, to make sure that you don't roll off the sofa in your sleep, but it still brings a fond smile to Magda's face.
You're buried under the blanket too but Magda can just see a hint of the pyjama top that you haven't changed out of. Clearly, it's been a lazy day for everyone but Magda because she has no doubt that if you haven't gotten dressed properly then Pernille hasn't gotten dressed properly either.
You look so soft and cute though so Magda pushes down her jealousy at not having a lazy day with her girls. You snuffle a little bit as you wriggle in your sleep, smacking your lips together and Magda just watches you both for several seconds.
When you eventually settle, she smiles and goes to change.
She'd already showered at training so all she needs to do now is put away her bag and get changed. She's been training all day but it doesn't mean that she can't join in on the rest of your lazy day now that she's home.
"Hey, princesse," She coos to you when she returns in her pyjamas.
You're in that odd state of inbetween where you're still asleep but also, somehow, awake too. Your eyes flutter open.
"Hi, Morsa," You say, your voice soft and groggy with sleep. You slowly lift your fuzzy head and Morsa cradles it gently.
"Aren't you all sleepy? How was your nap?"
You make a few grumbling sounds as if they communicate how you feel before sitting upright. The blanket falls from your body.
Magda was right. You were still in your pyjamas - a pair of fuzzy trousers and your Lyon van de Donk shirt. It's been chosen for this week's sleepytime top.
You usually cycle through football shirts for bedtime because they're all too big for you and make you feel all nice and cosy. Last week it had been Keira Walsh's Barcelona shirt and the week before that it had been Alexia's Spain one.
You yawn and rub at your eyes.
"Momma's still hurt," You say," But she's okay."
"That's good." Magda reaches out to tickle your tummy. "And what about you? Are you okay?"
You nod. "We had a lazy day so we ate pancakes and had a little sleep." You yawn again.
"Are you still tired?"
"Uh-huh."
Magda smiles as she helps pull you from Pernille's grip. "Well, there's not much space for me on the sofa so why don't you head on up to the big bed and I'll get Momma?"
It's clear that you're excited but your movements are still sluggish because you shuffle up the stairs to the Big Bed, snagging the blanket on the way.
That makes Pernille wake up, blindly reaching for where her previous warmth has gone.
"Hey," Magda says," How's your knee?"
Pernille makes a face as she sits up. "It's fine. Where's Princesse?"
"Upstairs," Magda says," I promised sleepytime cuddles in the big bed."
"Hmm. That's generous of you. Can you just leave me to my nap?"
"We're napping upstairs." Magda helps Pernille to her feet, supporting her weight all the way up the stairs.
"Hmm. That's nice."
It's clear that Pernille is halfway to sleep again so Magda settles her in bed quickly.
Automatically, Pernille's arms are out to wrap around you, curling herself around you protectively.
You're asleep again too and Magda slips into bed to join you both.
Pernille adjusts herself to rest her head against Magda's shoulder as she presses a soft kiss to it. "How was training?"
"Go back to sleep," Magda replies," You're still exhausted. We can talk about training later."

Your first time versing Lyon was the match of your dreams
Barça Femení x teen!reader
Tumblr media
pt. 3 masterlist
Warnings: lots of happiness and not proofread as per usual … 😁
A/N: i forgot to mention that mapi's knee is 100% functioning and not crippled in this series!!!! i’ve decided to turn it into a series because i love our hay day obsessed reader so much.
also, reader takes alexia’s place in scoring a golazo because our wonderkid needs her time to shine and what better time to shine than in a uwcl final 🪄🪄 (peep my reference in the fic to the gif im so smart)
we need a nickname for little miss wonderkid so i dont constantly refer to her as reader so plz suggest some in my asks 🥹
You were way too nervous for the final to function. You regretted eating breakfast that morning because it felt like you were about to throw it all up.
Honestly, you were even nervous to look at the players. You stood timidly between Lucy and Irene in the line, secretly hoping you never had to leave the tunnel. You did not want the likes of Ada Hegerberg charging towards little 16-year-old you.
You glanced down at the ‘NV15’ written on your wrist in black. That forever-present question of 'What would Vidić do?' loomed in your mind.
He wouldn’t be worrying about anyone on the opposition. He’d just be worried about breaking the Brexit tackle world record and keeping everyone in white as far away from the goal as possible.
The officials at the end of the tunnel signalled to both teams, which meant it was time. As you emerged out of the tunnel, walking out to the sound of a stadium full of culers, you didn’t feel scared. The cheers from all around the stadium deafened you, but also made you feel an insane amount of pride.
As you stood beside your teammates, the Barcelona anthem blasted on the speakers and the crowd became a choir as they sung the anthem loud and proud. Your attention was in the stands, looking at all the people that had come to watch. You almost teared up when you spotted a little girl and her older brother wearing a jersey with your name on it. Your name. Just having a mascot blew you away, so seeing people you probably weren’t much older than, wearing jerseys with your name on the back, was a crazy concept.
It made you think about the future. It made you hope that one day, you’d grow up to be some little girl’s idol the way Vidić is yours.
“Get ready to shake hands, (Y/N),” Irene reminded you, noticing that you looked a bit spaced out. You brought yourself back to the present and nodded, sticking your hand out to shake the long line of Lyon hands.
When Alexia asked you to bend down and hold the match day pennant, it almost felt like blasphemy. Your mouth was slightly agape as she thrusted it into your hand. “But why me?”
“My knee is no good, it’s better if I stand,” she explained.
“But why m–”
“Just hold it, nena!” Alexia laughed, getting back in the line. You crouched down, holding the pennant in one hand and bracing the ground with the other as you smiled gingerly for the camera.
As soon as the photographer lowered his camera, you sprung to your feet and gave the pennant back to Alexia. “There you go, capi!” you said happily, motioning to Renard who was approaching with their own pennant to exchange. Alexia laughed and patted you on the back, mumbling a quick ‘gracías’ before turning away.
You walked over to the bench and shrugged your jacket off, folding it neatly for one of the team management to take to the locker room later on. With one last meaningful glance at your wrist, you ran onto the field to take your position. Irene was with you in the center and Lucy covered the right while Ona took care of the left. Jona had told you to be prepared for Mapi to come on, so you kept that in mind too.
As soon as the whistle was blown, you were relieved to see that Aitana, Mariona, Caro and Salma had already gotten things under control. That gave you time to scope out the Lyon front three and think about how to handle them.
You thought about what Lucy said. ‘Don’t get hurt trying to do extreme tackles.’
At the end of the day, it all came down to instinct. When Dumornay started running at you with the ball, her feet moving too quick for you to focus on, you knew what you were going to do next had to be purely instinctual. This wasn’t the match for calculated tackles.
It was a fearless tackle. It wasn’t even much of a tackle, actually; you had just gotten to the ground right in her path and made contact with the ball first before she even touched you. When she did touch you, the top of her boot got caught on your abdomen, knocking her over. It was the consequence of her own speed and momentum.
With the ball at your feet, you did what you always did best — kick it as hard as you could and hope it goes well. You must’ve hoped extremely hard or hoped to the right deity, because the ball landed right at Aitana’s feet. Not an inch in front.
With one touch, she had beaten her marker. When Aitana got the ball, it was almost always a goal, and this time was no different; before you could even register that your ball had been kept in play, let alone found a player of your own, it had beaten Endler’s desperate hands and hit the back of the net. The stadium has the loudest atmosphere you’ve ever experienced after Aitana’s goal.
She came running to you, her arms outstretched. You threw yourself into her, hugging her tightly. The rest of the team came shortly after, suffocating you two in a big team hug. You heard some muffled voices praising you and Aitana, but you were too stunned by how quickly it all happened to even register their words. There were many pats on your back and side hugs before the game reset and you were back to your centerback position, kissing the writing on your wrist.
“Aparejo increíble (Y/N), and the pass! Magnífico!” Irene said, pulling you close and ruffling your hair (to which you huffed and slicked it back down) before running back to her position.
You didn’t actually intend to make that pass, so was it that special? Aitana did score from it, but she just has magical feet.
The match had flown by, both teams only separated by one goal at the 90th minute. Lyon were desperate for a goal. Barcelona were desperate for another. Many changes had been made, including Mapi and Pina coming on.
You watched as Diani came down the left wing and somehow managed to beat Lucy and Mapi, which meant you were going to have to try tidy up at the back and not let Diani get to Cata, the last hope.
At first, you just jockeyed. You held her off and tried to delay her, which worked; her stepovers were useless and she couldn’t get past you by tapping and running… but then she did.
She took a touch just wide of you, giving herself heaps of space to dribble up to goal if she was quick enough to retrieve the ball. The big underlying issue was, your jockeying had led you two up to the box. You could either get a card and risk her scoring from a penalty or worse — not do anything and let her put it in. You would rather break your Hay Day login streak than let that happen.
As she lurched forwards to get another touch on the ball, it was like everything was in slow motion. Time slowed down as you extended your leg and thrusted your entire body forwards, cushioning your fall by sliding on your arm across the damp grass and towards the ball. You closed your eyes as she got closer to your face, hoping that if you didn’t see it happen, the collision wouldn’t hurt as much. If this tackle went wrong, it would be over for you, for Barça.
Diani’s opening had been a gift from God himself, so you prepared yourself to see her celebrating happily, the ball rolling into the net when you opened your eyes, but when you finally did open them, the ball wasn’t in the net. Diani wasn’t celebrating.
She was lying on her chest, scrambling to get to her feet. The ball was out, discarded somewhere near the barriers as a ball boy passed a new one to Lucy to throw in. Cheers had rung through the stadium upon your last-ditch tackle, but you had been too distracted to pay attention to them. You had been too focused on trying to execute the perfect tackle that would either make or break the game.
The only thing you guys needed was another goal to really seal the deal. Lyon were getting dangerously close, you needed a goal.
When Lucy had played the ball in, you moved a bit further up the field, watching the play. You noticed Caro receiving the ball, and then you noticed the absence in the middle of the box. You scanned for Aitana or Pina or anybody, but they were all marked by figures like Renard and Carpenter or in other words, brick walls that were not letting them in any time soon.
It was all, pure, instinct. You ran– no, sprinted up the field, flailing your hands in the air. “Caro, Caro!” you screamed, motioning to the middle of the box, begging for a cross.
The cross she delivered from the right wing was set to land just in front of you. You couldn’t reach it for a volley and you sure as hell couldn’t bicycle kick it in. It was travelling fast and getting nearer by the second, but that was the advantage.
Without a second thought, you jumped up. Your body was basically horizontal in the air as you flew forwards, forehead connecting with the ball. It was a shame you couldn’t watch it shoot past Endler, burying itself right in the bottom left corner. You flew into the net as well, and the only way you realised you had scored was when you sat up and looked to your side to see the ball. That’s also the only way you realised you were in the goal.
You had never stood up faster or yelled louder. You zipped past Endler and ran down the field towards the nearest camera. Your first goal of your career couldn’t have been more perfect, so you needed a celebration to match.
Aitana appeared by your side, and as you two ran side-by-side, you pointed to the people in the stands. It was a simple but meaningful celebration; it was the same celebration Vidić had once done, and you remembered it vividly. In fact, it was one of your favourite moments.
You ran to the corner flag where the rest of your team were, and you all fell into another affectionate huddle. Lucy squeezed your side. “You’re in the wrong sport, I think you’d do well as a professional diver!” she jeered, having to yell her words over the noise. You grinned at her and hugged the woman tightly right before being instructed to reset.
The ball had barely started moving again before the referee blew the final whistle. Everyone from the sidelines jumped from their seats and ran onto the field, and the people on the field ram towards your goal. Cata booted the ball into the air and jumped on top of the big hug, and then Pina followed. There was singing and dancing and flags being thrown and tears and hugs for days.
It was happy moment upon happy moment for everyone as it all sunk in — you had finally, finally beat Olympique Lyonnais in a Champions League final for the first time in your history. You had helped beat Lyon and make history with this team, and you had won your first ever Champions League and quadruple, but you had to give credit where it was due.
You knew if you never had a role model like Nemanja Vidić, nothing would’ve happened the way it did for you against Lyon.
Being a 16-year-old girl with such a fiery passion to defend and hold it down at the back wasn’t easy. There wasn’t many defenders that played for the badge the way Vidić did. The reason you loved him so much was because he exerted such an immense sense of pride and dedication to his club, and that was the type of defender you wanted to be.
That was the type of defender you had been today.
You couldn’t believe Keira and Patri when they ran up to you saying that the officials wanted to see you so you could receive the Player of the Match award once again. Your jaw was dropped and you went red as they basically dragged you away from the locker rooms and towards the officials. Your cheeks were still red from embarrassment as you took the photo.
You learned that you couldn’t just slink away into the locker rooms after such a big match, so you spent a solid 10 minutes talking to fans all around the stadium. It was a bit awkward for you at first because most of them were either as old as Alexia or literally your age, but you figured you’d have to get used to it.
The best part about the whole day was, when you eventually got back to the locker room and picked your phone up, you had reached level 300 on Hay Day.
As if one major achievement wasn’t enough.

Moving day (Alexia Putellas x reader)
Since the champions league final things couldn’t have been better for you. When you returned to Barcelona you signed a 5 year extension cementing your future to the club. But not only that, you were giving yourself a chance at a future with Alexia.
Months had passed and your relationship was in a really good place. The two of you were out celebrating your one year anniversary when Alexia brought up the prospect of moving in together.
“You want me to move in with you?” Alexia asked just as you took a sip of your wine causing you to choke on the red liquid.
“Si, no. Yes, do you not want to?”
It was cute how flustered she was getting.
“I would love to. Your place or mine?”
It was a tough decision. Alexia’s apartment was her home, she had lived there for years but your place was bigger, more central and the view from your balcony could take her breath away.
In the end, Alexia makes the decision not to choose.
“Let’s find a place to call ours”
That is how you find yourself in an empty house surrounded by boxes with your girlfriend trying to hook her phone up to the sound system that came with the house.
All of the boxes were labelled in great detail. It’s why when Alexia saw a box with nothing on she became suspicious.
“amor meu”
You and Nala come running in from the garden which Alexia finds strange given that she was almost positive you were in the living room.
“That’s me” you say rather proudly.
Your girlfriend points to the box in front of her and whilst she might not recognise it, you do. It didn’t come from your apartment in Barcelona. It came from your apartment in Lyon.
Alexia got a strong case of Deja vu because just like how she did in the French city, she opened the box to reveal your Balón d’Or amongst your other trophies that she knew you kept in Lyon.
“These are your things from Lyon”
You nod your head as you can see Alexia still wants to say something.
“Why are they here?”
“Because I live here. My life is here now, with you” you walk over to her and close the box. You look her dead in the eye as you say your next words “my ties are here now, to this city, to you. I need to put that in the past and focus of my future”
“Our future” Alexia corrects you before placing a gently kiss to your lips.
