it seems we've all come around on Toko but i know a lot of folks still shy away from the golden girl Iruma Miu. and i get it. i would never say you Need to like Miu, nor am i offended when people dislike her: she is extreme in a way that i think even surpasses Toko.
Miu is selfish and Miu crosses boundaries and Miu is really horribly rude at the worst times. however, Miu also, canonically/semi-canonically:
has psychotic breaks/delusions and depersonalizes (Shuichi FTs)
is so excited someone's paying attention to her that she doesn't mind if it's a fight/negative (Kaede FTs)
admits that her personality is an act (Love Hotel)
is so lonely she's willing to have a baby just to ensure her partner doesn't Leave (Love Hotel)
doesn't have Friends (Kaede FTs/Summer Camp)
is actually quite bothered she has no Friends but Toko does (Summer Camp)
acts surprised that Kaede is worried about her (Kaede FTs)
admits no one pays attention to her Inventions very much (Shuichi FTs) and invites Kaede for a sleepover the moment Kaede does (Summer Camp)
gets provoked by Kokichi for no reason, constantly, in a weird sexualized way (most of her English interactions with Kokichi - i'm told it comes off differently in Japanese)
continually talks about how no one understands her (every FT ever)
immediately falls in love with Shuichi in an Obsessive way because he acted like any person would and stopped her from self-harm (Shuichi FTs)
is genuinely sad when she thinks Shuichi doesn't want to be near her (Shuichi FTs/LATU scenes)
this is all unsurprising to me, because most people don't even try to talk to her like she's a Human Being, and when they do, they immediately get mad/aggressive and won't de-escalate. no, i don't expect Therapist Talk out of DR characters, but man, fucking...of course she's a weirdo who thinks she's a cyborg, when you even have Shuichi saying it's creepy when she's happy:
in her mind, he only ever Cares about her when she's having a breakdown! he considers her Pube Blood Food a sign of a "genuine" love confession! Miu's behavior makes total sense to me.
this does not Justify how she is, no. but i see a lonely and alienated girl who decided to act out in an attempt to get some attention, even if it's bad. Miu reads as severely mentally ill to me and just because her mental illness isn't cute, aesthetic, or quiet doesn't mean she doesn't deserve healing.

Girl help I've acquired possibly yet another expensive hobby
#op#2 of them in fact#currently making a frame weaving loom (and by that i mean my dad idk enough about wood working and this wood is too expensive to fuck up)#and getting into mechanical keyboards#i already have a lotta yarn so the real costs rn are the keyboards#which are like at least 100usd a pop#what sucks is that they all seem to be 60% keyboards or tkl's and like. i need my fn and number pad keys pls and thx#debated sacrificing the num pad and getting a seperate one bc wowza these custom boards are absolutely gorgeous but#i am on such a budget and a cheap (cheap!!!) keyboard i found that i quite like is still gonna run me 200cad#if i got a pretty keeb and a seperate numpad i could easily be looking at $500+ like lordy#that's not even counting the switches i want to get (gateron baby kangs which are. $66. I'm assuming in usd bc it doesn't actually say)#anyway debating on whether or not i should order the keyboard now or wait till later cuz like is it even gonna be there later?#so much of this stuff is temporary and u never know#its a 96% keyboard and it has a calculator button!! only other board ive seen with that is my dads maybe 2005 wireless microsoft#so useful tbh#such a pretty board too all things considered#and finding a nice board like that with the numpad is not easy lemme tell ya like i was truly considering a ducky which.#i cant say im quite fond of their logo among other things#i think its more of a cream than white but u cant win em all#hmm to purchase now or to not purchase now‚ that is the question.... i could technically afford it but then#there's ComicCon + cost of supplies and whatnot for opening up my shop which is gonna be probably at least a hundred...#and then i would like to get some nice wool skirts for the winter/now bc pants are of the devil which is gonna be another 100/150 or so...#augh#i think the government should give me more money i think that would be very sexy of them to do#anyway can you believe i went on my phone to find a banana bread recipe then did all this instead? crazy#hashtag adhd life

OOOOoooHHHhh the temptation to build another keyboard even though you finally finished your first keyboard build and got it to your perfect specifications after literally a year of slowly adding to it.
#I want to make themed keebs#a portal one is a MUST#thinking white keycaps with blue and orange specialty keys on either end#probably liner switches with the acrylic base I use for my current keeb#since i wanna move my cyber wave keeb to a neon blue shell instead#also wanna make zelda keebs#eyeing a wooden shell for a link keeb rn#but DO i want to spend hundreds of dollars building something purely for aesthetics#yes#do i have the MONEY to do that#no#the dilemma#the issue with the zelda keebs is a want the lettering to be in hylian#which those keycaps DONT EXIST#so i would have to literally buy a crickut just to cut out letting to put on blank keycaps#and thats a lot of work#and wouldnt even be a permenent thing since the cutouts would peel#if i ended up useing those keebs#someone talk to me about mechanical keyboards#i think about them a normal amount (lying)

Deej - Common Wubbox
The last wubbox to awaken on Earth Island, Deej is a shy, uncharacteristically quiet monster, lacking any sort of voice with which to speak or sing. Though it tends to avoid most other monsters, it’s slowly gaining the courage to find some real friends, starting with the other two wubboxes of its island.
Bebop - Rare Wubbox
Another of Earth Island’s wubbox, Bebop is much more outgoing than its common counterpart, and is Deej’s closest friend. It’s very curious, and loves meeting new monsters and experimenting with robotic technology, using its electrical alignment to power its creations.
Zeed - Plant Epic Wubbox
The first Epic Wubbox in its entire archipelago, Zeed tries its best to maintain an image of competence and power, but isn’t immune to getting involved in its friends’ questionable ideas. It considers itself the “voice of reason” and “most mature one” out of all the Epics, which is only somewhat true.
Frozz - Cold Epic Wubbox
Chill yet chaotic in nature, Frozz is nearly the polar opposite of Zeed. While not too bright, it’s great at coming up with jokes and poor decisions.
Greebo - Hybrid Epic Wubbox (Wubcorn...?)
With its very existence considered a massive anomaly within the monster world, Greebo originated from an accidental fusion of Zeed and Frozz’s power cores. Despite being one of the strangest things discovered in its world as of late, it’s still just a kid, mostly taking after its Cold elemental parent’s playful and mischievous personality.
Alva - Common Wubbox
Creator of the Wublins and one of the oldest wubboxes known to monsterkind, Alva is seen as a parental figure by many of its modern counterparts. Spending most of its time on Wublin Island raising its many “children”, Alva is almost perpetually exhausted, but still is willing to help the monsters of the other islands, particularly now with the recent rediscovery of the dormant Celestials.
Keeb - Screemu
Brash, rebellious, and irritatingly loud despite its complete lack of ears, Keeb is one of Alva’s eldest children. Though it often drives its parent and siblings insane, Keeb isn’t always a menace, and loves giving itself and its friends paint and ribbon makeovers for fun.
Vikath - Thwok
The first Wublin to be awakened, Vikath is one of the quietest of its siblings, preferring not to speak due to its overly long tongue. It prefers to stay away from the chaos brought on by Keeb and co, and tries to keep things relatively calm when it can.
Gnees - Poewk
Often short-tempered and grouchy, Gnees’ personality is somewhat similar to Vikath’s, but less tolerant of stupidity. On rare occasions it’ll begrudgingly help out Keeb with its misadventures, but would rather keep to itself, endlessly trying to perfect its musical performance.
Raydar - Water Epic Wubbox
The most reclusive of all the Epic Wubboxes, Raydar doesn’t often leave its island. From what the others have seen of it, it’s a sarcastic but easygoing individual, observing the antics of its friends from afar and only occasionally joining in.
Tekk - Earth Epic Wubbox
Loud and boisterous to an almost earth-shaking degree, Tekk considers itself the leader of Earth Island’s chorus, its intense nature showing not just in its song but its personality as well. It often strikes fear into those unfamiliar with it, but under the rough, worn exterior of its mechanical parts, it’s a good-natured and supportive friend, being particularly protective of Deej and Bebop.
Acer - Air Epic Wubbox
A rather air-headed agent of chaos, Acer is somewhat immature compared to its peers. It’s adventurous, energetic, and fun-loving, spending a lot of time hopping from island to island and visiting its many monster friends.

my small contribution to nerd!kiri...... he def brings his fancy, expensive mechanical keyboard to the office. built the whole thing himself, has super cool keycaps - the whole shebang. at some point you end up going to his desk (with, like, the weakest excuse as to why you're on the complete opposite side of the office LMAO) and end up making a comment on his keyboard. saying it's pretty, sounds nice, etc. he ends up briefly telling you about mechanical keyboards, shows you ones he's seen online that he thinks are neat. and you're interested in it - because they really are pretty and he's so animated and excited talking about a hobby, it's hard to not be excited along with him 🥺
so later, when y'all are a thing, he builds you a keyboard. it's entirely to your taste, both functionally and aesthetically - he even got matching artisan keycaps for yours and his keyboards, same design just matched to the respective color scheme of your keebs. so even if the work day may suck, and you can't see him until later, you have a little piece of him with you 🥰

curious about your on-the-go fic-writing keeb and how it's set up. also the whole switches post gave me the incredible desire for some sort of "what's in my bag" sitch. thank you i liked reading about your switch opinions.
Oh hell yeah sure.
So my mobile keyboard is amazing.
This is an EPOMAKER NT68. It's a 65% bluetooth keyboard that I have used to, at this point, write about 80% of the PT Benji AU. It's a fucking joy to use.
I got it on sale from Bezo's Store for about 70 bucks (it's 95 right now). At the time, it came with Gateron Blacks installed but literally like seven of the fucking switches had bent pins and had to be replaced. It came with five spare switches so I was p pissed.
Which, I was fine obvsly because I keep buying switches on the cheap.
Okay but about this specific keyboard:
EPOMAKER NT68
Haimu Whisper Silent Tactile switches (which I LOVE, very good feedback without a ton of sound, great of typing at work)
Cannoncaps CXA Superplum (which is to to date the only caps I have ever paid full price for which I should not have done except they might be my Actual Favorite Profile. this is unfortunate bc they fucking never going on sale, but that special spacebar shape is incredible)
my lil vinyl record player artisan was a gift 8) the maker is 2Tcraft on Etsy
What I love about this keyboard is that
It allows for three BT connections at a time, so i can swap from my phone to my home PC to anything else with two buttons
the sound of it on a deskmat is actually one of my favorite noise profiles of any keeb I've used
it is the most portable keeb without going into weird Nuphy keebs (which I did consider a lot) or going Ortho (which I ALSO considered but this was before Akko put out an affordable Ortho option, god bless Akko)
it has a felt magnetic sleeve that can be folded around the keeb to protect it or into a lil triangle to prop your phone on, which I use all the time. when this thing starts wearing out, I will be very sad.
it fits into my cheapass Vera Bradley crossbody bag so i bring it with me everywhere and I have genuinely used it a fucking lot, like a LOT.
it is a major conversation starter, everyone at work wants to know more about it which is fun.
obviously I had switch issues with the stock keeb and had to swap out some non-working switches, BUT the stock is honestly very good otherwise and the caps it comes with feel perfectly fine. you can use them for a while without issue.
some caveats:
this thing is an investment. i told myself that basically this is what my patreon is for and I saved up for a few months to justify it to myself. i'm glad I did it but also Oof That Pricetag.
the software for this thing is fuckign incomprehensible. i have tried many many times to add some hotkeys to it and fucking forget it. I managed to turn off the lights and that's all I'm doing with it. if you want this for coding and need something very easy to add layers to, FUCKING FORGET IT. go get one of Drop's Orthos instead.
sometimes i type too fast for this thing lmao. it doesn't happen often but like if i'm REALLY going max speed, it will every once in a while (like once in a paragraph) miss a key. I'm fine with this because it doens't happen with casual use.
it is portable but you are gonna need to find a bag for it to fit into. It fits perfectly into a Vera Bradley Sling Backpack, which I picked up on clearance from my local Hallmark store oddly enough.

The "Budget" in Budget Keyboards is changing
The budget keyboard landscape has changed.
Back in 2020, a budget keyboard would usually mean buying something from Ali Express or Amazon. However, this all changed during 2022 and onward as the keyboard market changed and provided new offerings to enthusiasts and those entering the hobby.
We now have budget keebs that have an aluminium body, LED screens, a really good sound profile, etc etc. All these cool features and it doesn't have to break the bank. However, there are other keyboard vendors out there that like to brand themselves as "budget" and "affordable," but it doesn't look that way when you look at the cost.
So as the hobby starts to open its doors to more in-stock options, and people are now being careful about whom they're giving their money towards, What defines the budget in "Budget Keyboard?"
I'm sorry, the QK65 V2 cost how much?!
What made me decide to write this blog post was looking at the cost of the QK65 V2.
I used to own the R2 of the QK65. Unfortunately, I sold it because I wasn't really happy with it + I have the QK75 version on the way. That keyboard alone was $300 AUD alone.
So now enters the QK65 V2, which many describe as a huge upgrade from its predecessor. In my honest opinion, the keyboard looks similar to the Think6.5 by Graystudios, only it has an LED screen, not a light block.
So it shouldn't shock you that the cost of the QK65 is nearly similar to the Think 6.5 in the aftermarket.
According to SwitchKeys.com, if I were to order this entire keyboard without any extras, it's going to cost me nearly $390, excluding shipping. Based on my previous QK pre-order experience, I get free shipping because I'm a local.
My second-hand Think 6.5 Valentine's edition was around 500. Just $110 off the new QK keyboard.
The reason I bring this up is because the QK lineup was described as the budget option for those who love Owllab's products. After all, QwertyKeys (the manufacturer of the QK lineup) is the sister company of Owllabs.
Even YouTubers who reviewed the ORIGINAL QK65 were shocked at how good it sounds, as well as its price.

What was the budget keyboard landscape like back in the day?

Back in the day, the budget keyboard market was pretty underwhelming. It was mostly plastic keyboards, many of which have north-facing LEDs. Or you'd get something made with multiple acrylic layers stacked up. One thing these boards have in common is that they sound very terrible. Like seriously, you need to mod the heck out of them if you want it to sound very decent.
This obviously changed over the years with the release of the Monsgeek M series, Keychron, and the QK and Neo lineup, just to name a few. The same can be said for keycaps, with vendors like Osume and Canonkeys releasing in-stock options.
And while it's great to hear that there are IN-STOCK options for those entering the hobby, you also need to be wary of the price of these metal rectangles. Just because the group buy model is slowing down doesn't mean we should forget the price of these machines.
Anything above $300 AUD is not budget, it's mid-tier

In my very honest opinion, any new keyboard produced by QwertyKeys shouldn't be considered as budget anymore. I think they're entering the mid-tier market, especially due to its quality and features.
While it's cool to see that there are many "affordable" keyboards in the market, I think the community needs to draw a line on what is considered to be "budget" and for me, that's anything above $300 AUD.
As of writing $300 Australian dollars converts to $204 USD. And I think it's fair to say that anything above $200 USD or $300 AUD is too much for the budget label.
But just because that marks out QK doesn't mean there are no options left for very good budget keyboards. If you're someone who wants a decent LED screen, get the Gamakay LK75. It's super affordable and it's only $99 USD. Another good alternative is literally anything from Keychron. I tried some of them when I went to PAX Aus this year and their boards cost between $100 to $270 AUD. I wish this was my board instead of the GMMK Pro that I bought overseas.
And speaking of the GMMK Pro, can we all agree that we were very delulu, thinking that this keyboard was "budget" when clearly, it wasn't?
The budget keyboard market is changing. And as prices increase and features get added, we need to determine what counts as "budget." And to me, the QK65 v2 and anything above $300 AUD no longer counts. But that's okay because, with enough elbow grease, you can make a cheap acrylic/plastic keyboard to sound really good.

kinda fluffy-ish kinda angsty. slow burn. I finally finished it, sorry I posted it only half done. I didn’t mean to lol. Also writers block was literally killing me.
As the day progressed, Daren became more and more sneezy. And snotty for that matter. Even in his room he forced himself to stifle as to not get his germs everywhere. This, plus his lack of tissues, caused the snot to build inside his nasal cavity. He couldn’t breathe through his nose at all.
A knock could be heard on his door. Before he could even respond, Dante enters with about a thousand things to help his deteriorating condition.
“your long over do on some chicken noodle soup.” Dante says with a wiry grin.
Daren looked up at his roommate.
“I told you to keeb away from’b me’b” he mumbles.
“well, I’m a shitty listener.” Says while setting a bowl of chicken noodle soup on his night stand, as well as some cold meds, and a glass of water.
Daren looks at the things.
“thangbs” he mumbles before adding “but you really should go”
With a dramatic sigh Dante sits down on Darens bed beside him.
“aww, but your bed is sooo comfy. I think I could stay here all day” Dante says while practically lounging on top of Daren.
Daren attempts to protest but all he manages to get out is a helpless hitch from a building sneeze. Daren puts one elbow up to his mouth and nose, and with the other hand he tries to keep Dante at bay.
Dante sighs and settles down beside his sick roommate.
Daren tries his best not to sneeze, but in the end is forced to bury his face into his elbow and stifle several painful sneezes.
“hehh’ngggxxttt! Ehnnggst! Huhh… hi’.. hennnggnxxt!” Each stifle causes Daren’s head to spin, and Dante’s eyes to grow more and more concerned.
“bless you.” Dante say softly to the taller man who seemed dazed with the mini fit.
“you shouldn’t stifle, it’s horrible for you and it looks like it’s painful” Dante adds.
Daren sighs and sniffles. “I hab to. Don’t wanna get you sick with dis.” He says tiredly.
“I said stop stifling, not sneeze on me. You can cover your mouth and sneeze normally you know.” Dante says with an eye roll.
a thick yet unhelpful snuffle is all that can be heard from Daren.
Dante sighs then pulls Daren close. Surprisingly, Daren doesn’t protest, rather he leans into Dante.
“did I finally convince you to stop worrying about me?” The shorter of the two asks playfully.
“Nope. I’b just reasoned in b’my head that when I gibe dis to you that I’ll take care of you to make upb for it.” Daren mumbles, letting himself melt into his roommate.
“Aww” Dante says softly. In that moment he wants nothing more then to press a kiss to Daren’s clammy forehead. But he refrains.
“Want me to spoon feed you soup and sing you a country lullaby?” Dante asks the ex cowboy teasingly.
“I can feeb myself, thangb you bery much.” Daren says with a huff. Then he giggles at himself. “God, now I can’b stob thinkin bout you singing a horrible rendibtion of some country somb” Daren says as he takes the bowl of hot liquid and eats a spoon full. The soup felt magical on his throat, but the steam quickly caused his nose to run like a facet. He sniffles wetly.
“Do we hab any more tissues?” Daren asks Dante as the shorter male is just finishing up his giggling fit over the thought of singing a country song.
“nope, sorry. We’re all out. I could run to the store-”
“nopb, don’t worry bout it. I’ll survivb” Daren says, cutting Dante off.
Dante sighs as he watches Daren’s losing battle with his nose. Mucus keeps trickling down his nose and on to his upper lip where it’s hastily wiped away.
Daren felt fully embarrassed as his nose kept running. Sniffling, or at this point snuffling wasn’t helping keep the thick liquid at bay. Then he felt the sharp prickle in his nose. With his hands occupied holding the bowl of soup, he couldn’t properly cover his mouth. So he opted to sneeze into his shoulder, managing to stifle somehow.
“Ngggxxxt!”
but that half assed stifle did nothing to rid the tickle. If anything, it made it worse.
“hnngggaah! Nngggxxtah!” He stifles desperately into his shoulder. All his muscles contracted with each powerful and barely stifled sneeze.
Once Dante comes to the conclusion Daren is done sneezing, he speaks up “bless you x2” he says.
Daren turns back to Dante. he opens he mouth to speak.
“Tha-” he cuts himself off with a large, messy, uncovered and unexpected sneeze.
“Eshhiuww!”
snots runs from his nose onto his chin. But his nose doesn’t stop there. Two more rapid, messy, and uncovered sneezes overtake him.
“Esshhhuui! Exhhuuw!”
snot runs from his nose, to his chin, down to his neck and collar bone. Daren looks unbelievable embarrassed and shameful.
The taller man just lowers his head, knowing he had gotten snot on Dante.
Dante sigh and mumbles a soft and tender ‘bless you’, far to in love with the ex cowboy to ever be mad at him over something like this.
Dante hops up and gets some toilet paper, first cleaning up his hoodie that had tendrils of snot clinging to it. Then he goes to gently cleaning up Daren.
“you can leave me to die of this cold now.” Daren mumbles.
Dante chuckles and continues cleaning him up.
“nah, I’m good. I rather not have a body in my spare bedroom.” Dante says with a chuckle.
“and don’t worry about this, I’ll pretend it never happened if that’s what it takes to make you stop looking like a child that feels guilty because he ate one more cookie then he was supposed to.” The shorter male adds with a smile.
“Thank you. For all of this. And for loving me.” Daren says quietly.
Dante freezes. Love?! He knew?
shit shit shit….
Dante then feels stupid when he realizes that Daren meant platonically.
“oh, yeah, you know. Anything for a bro.” Dante says with an awkward chuckle.
“No Dante. I know… about everything.” Daren says softly.
Dante knew in that moment that his world was either about to come crashing down, or he was about to reach the peak of his days.

my custom keeb + sounds:
more info below, if u wanna see what i did
its around 65 CAD dollars on amazon, but i got it for 15 using a giftcard my old teacher gave me (i cleaned my highschools fish tanks for 3 years, wasnt expecting any payment but she gave me some money seeing as i would work 1-3 hours daily, sometimes all 5 days of the school week to keep those fish from dying, its a long story eurrr).
it came with the matcha keycaps + some extra keycaps for customization, rgb backlights, and some generic red linear switches (felt like 55g springs) which i later switched out for aliexpress fake holy pandas (67g springs), which are considered one of the best tactile switches out there, and the fake ones are honestly pretty close to the real ones. The stock red linears were good, especially for a starter enthusiast i think, but they were barely lubed and the springs inside were so LOUD. i thought the case was empty because of how loud the spring ping was LOL. to fix it, just l.ube the springs well.
they came factory lu.bed but i still went over them with my own aliexpress (again. i did not want to spend a lot of money) l.ube. they have crazy thock and when over-lub.ed, become creamy.
i did the foam mod using thick felt foam (also from ali.... it was precut to fit perfectly okay) plus another layer of that thin white packaging foam from the keyboard box. Unfortunately, the keyboard, despite saying it can be customized in its description, had the plate and the back case welded :/// i had to cut around the foam to slip it through the welded parts.
i added the thin white foam and some painters tape to the inside of the spacebar keycap to create more thock, which worked very well.
the new ali switches also didnt fit in the front plate?? they fit in the pcb just fine, but the front plate was a little too small or something so when i would push the switches in, theyd fly out. i had to put the thing on the floor and step on it to get some of the keys to stay. i eventually had to frankenstein the original red linear switch cases with the internals of the pandas to get the spacebar and enter keys to sit right and fit with the stabilizers.
the stabilizers are white plastic and removable, as long as you unsrew the entire top part of the case first LOL. they work fine with the stock switches, but struggle to move the keys up or down without sticking if you use any other switch.
the fekker holy pandas worked well, especially since they were fakes and a lot cheaper than the real ones - real pandas cost about 83 CAD for 70 pcs, while i got 110 for 25 CAD! there were a few in the bag that didnt work, and they were shipped in a plain plastic bag, but they give you extras so you have enough working ones for a full size keyboard (which has 104 keys).
i accidentally damaged the pcb copper wiring stuff by pushing in a switch without checking if the pins were aligned; the pins bent instead of going into the holes and scratched the wires. because of this, i lost function in both the f11 function key and the print screen key. i dont ever use those so im fine with it.
