SO ANYWAY. QPHIL AND HIS INNATE TALENT FOR PULLING BAD BITCHES ON ACCIDENT.

Reiterating initial mentions of this for context:

--He's married to the Goddess of Death (Kristin) and Missa (a reaper). He's also fuckbuddies with Fit (no one can look at their interactions & tell me there's no homo there) and Etoiles. Strictly fuckbuddies; Fit has something blooming with Pac, and Etoiles is aromantic. --Everyone who Knows(tm) about the polycule has turned calling it a harem into an inside joke they only reference when Phil either isn't around or isn't paying attention enough to be like WHAT. --In fact, it's unfolded into a sort of joke folklore around Phil made up by the islanders closest to him that he has this inexplicable charm to him that makes any man-attracted person weak in the knees. (Baghera totally started it. Cellbit, Foolish, & Fit perpetuated it & it spread from there) --All this fruity silliness in mind, I have no fucking clue what queer label I'd slap on Phil, if one at all. Part of me wants to claim him as pansexual bc I'm Pansexual So Therefore So Is My Cubito + the way he'd explain how he experiences romantic & sexual attraction is exactly what I described *my* exp as in high school and my friend was like "yeah that's pansexual." But I also feel like Phil's the kind of guy to purposely not define his sexuality & remain an enigma both as a "mind your business" & a "It's Funny To Not Elaborate" thing. (As of rn I'm rolling with "he's pansexual but in a font you've never seen before")

Obv Mrs. Goddess of Death Kristin came first, she's been with him since long before Quesadilla Island. Strangely enough, she can't recall too much prior to the island just like Phil, but there's no way the Feds know she exists let alone know how to fuck up the memory of a deity. But yeah, she was his first & is his ONLY romantic dynamic within his weird polycule

She's an avid fan of Phil being his best unintentional whore self with them nice ass shoulders on display all the time and that accidental man magnet charm. Loves watching him pull bitches nonstop without even realizing. And loves watching him be a total fruity dork with his besties. She knows if Phil was forced to choose ONE person out of the polycule to be monogamous with forever, he'd pick her. She's not worried at all about his yaoi island adventures

Next came Fit. Hough, what a man. They WERE, until recently, strictly fwb. They fucked nasty behind that gym and I'll die on that hill. The way they talk to each other sometimes? Big boy?? FitMC people are watching?? They fucked behind that gym. Their fwb was called off as soon as Fit got serious with Pac though. Phil was totally chill with it & actively encouraged it. He loves seeing Fit so invested in the romance he's got blooming. They're still more than friends, not lovers, but a secret third thing, the sexual aspect was just removed from the equation. Truly the most QPR of the polycule

Then came Missa. Oh Missa. Their dynamic IS platonic like Phil has stated & restated countless times, but Missa has a (not yet brought to Phil's attention) massive romantic crush on him. He hasn't spoken up yet to keep their relationship from getting rocky at all. But tbh that prob won't happen. They're platonic in the Kiss The Homies way. So what if they make out sometimes and are husbands? So what if they go on adventures that could be considered dates by some? They aren't a romantic relationship, even if Missa secretly kinda wants to be.

And finally, aromantic king Etoiles joined the fray. He and Phil started out as friends and that has Barely changed if at all, but sparring matches get a little too homoerotic sometimes and neither of them can resist the other when they're popping off extra hard. Things have. Escalated a few times. If yknow what I mean. Of all Phil's harem members polycule partners, he & Etoiles have absolutely ZERO emotional investment in the Spicy(tm) things they do together. It's simply a very intimate way of showing each other their respect & admiration for the other. What they have going on is a "*spanks you* good game, let's hit the showers team" kinda deal. They're the type of mfs to finish in bed then shake hands like "gg." Casual sex is >>>> to these two, but it happens waaay less between them than it did Phil & Fit, Fitza was habitual. Codebreakers is a once in a while thing

Btw once Fitpac gets more stable together and whatnot, Fitza could potentially reignite with Pac's consent. That's the key to healthy poly, all parties are informed & consenting. Pac would be like. An honorary harem member. He & Phil would have absolutely 0 intimate relations, they're strictly friends in the most basic sense of the word. They just also fuck the same guy (& would totally talk about it together if alone)

Phil sometimes tries to gauge if Missa only likes men or if he likes women too. If he does, he's going to ask if he'd like to hear about his lord & savior, Big Woman(tm).

Etoiles has 100% asked Phil who fucks the best out of the polycule bc like everything else, it's a competition & he Must win, he Must have the best dick game. This amuses Phil very much

GOD he wants to open up to them about it so bad. Like yeah he did w Fit that one time but he didn't go into detail and hasn't said anything since and bc Phil is an idiot that feels guilty easily, he doesn't want to tell Fit more atm bc he doesn't want to dampen Fit's high spirits or take away his time with Pac

OK BUT CONSIDER: POLYCULE GROUP EFFORT TO GET THROUGH TO ENDER KING POSSESSED PHIL AND HELP HIM FIGHT OFF EK'S INFLUENCE. OUGH.

Phil attracted all four partners with his raw skill and talent btw. If you even care. Literally was just going about his business being himself and it bagged him three dudes in addition to the literal goddess he already had

Although his feelings are platonic, Phil is attracted to Missa because Missa is a) the other father of his children and b) such a genuine and sweet person. And funny, even if a lot of the times the reason he's funny is bc he's like 2 seconds from having a stroke over whatever shit he missed hitting the fan this time

Phil is attracted to Fit bc. Well. That's FitMC of 2b2t, baby. Raw skill and talent sees raw skill and talent. Fellow anarchist. Also muscles. And that razor sharp stare. Fit's just dreamy as hell ok, let a man drool a little

Phil is attracted to Etoiles the same way he's attracted to Fit, HOWEVER, the reasoning is different. Etoiles has raw skill and talent, but it's the way he wields it and demonstrates it that makes Phil wanna act up. Also Etoiles is fucking hilarious. Who can resist a good sense of humor? Those dramatics make Phil swoon

Hazbin Hoetl 5-6

Spoiler warning!

Not gonna lie, at first I was cringing a bit at Lucifer. I was expecting him the have, like, grace and baddie energy. but he's talking to himself pretending to show off rubber ducks to a crowd.

And of all the potential dynamics he and Al could have had, competing father figures was NOT on my mind at all dude. Al? Dad?

But, I watched these last two episodes a couple (okay maybe several) times over and, it's really growing on me. It was definitely the predeveloped impressions getting in the way of really enjoying these characters. Even the irks I had about Alastor aren't really irks anymore, especially with "Dad beat Dad having much better animation and a banger number for Al (seriously wtf he's horrific in this episode)--

"Could you butt out of my song?"

"Your song? I started this!"

"I'm singing it, I'll finish it!"

Before, I was seeing it as how well they pull off my (and arguably the long simmering fandom's) idea of these characters instead of how well the characters as they actually are are told. So many people thought this show would be a super serious deep dive on Christianity and commentary on religion itself. But at this point, it really feels like Heavan and Hell are metaphores. They focus a lot more on personal issues like relationships, coping mechanisms, flaws like nievety, displaced senses of self worth, etc.

Charlie's idea of what "gets people into heaven" is naive and brochure-like. Adam gave a literal list of three items that seemed overly simplistic (and turned out to be wrong).

But at least they had some idea about it. The higher angels themselves had no clue whatsoever, their only concern was preserving the status quo. And even when things are called to question they fall back to old ways just bc they're scared to change anything. Sera didn't have any malice toward Hell, she just doesn't want to make things worse, having Angels fall, have Hell attack Earth or Heaven, have more evil spread, by changing things.

Getting a better idea of what all of this is about makes it so much easier to appreciate things I initially was put off by. It just has a context that it fits into now.

Lucifer being this disillusioned depressed dork with "yeaaaah, No." energy fits into what we've seen of heavenly culture (uncanny innocence, annoying teen pop-culture energy, being perfectionist yet blind to their own flaws)

And The "Hell's Great Dad" song really broke the ice, especially when Mimzy busted in singing ITS MEEEEEEE-- like

Love her. I wasn't expecting to see Mimzy AT ALL since she was removed from the main cast. And after seeing people talk about her and how they were wondering about her, it definitely felt like popping in the way she did was a response to that. Even I was wondering bc you don't just drop a former love interest for a character like Alastor, but still have them show up in the pilot-- I wanted to see Mimzy lol.

Like, im sorry but I felt like she was pointing at me personally, not the other characters, and that was hilarious.

It's so random but doesn't feel out of place at all somehow. The tensions were already super high, so a random screaming woman busting in with even higher energy is like-- wtf?? :'D??

She was a blast the entire time tho, and actually tied into the reoccurring theme of only reaching out to someone so they can do something for you.

It also definitely pinched a side of Alastor, irritating that he does apparently NEED to be there, there's some obligation he actually has to the hotel, or at the very least some stakes to not holding things together, not bc he defended the hotel but bc he specifically says "I can't have that here" , he also doesn't refute the claims Mimzy makes about him. Al clearly adores her and isn't surprised by her antics at all yet still tells her to leave. With the mention of Alastor's "leash" in the same episode BC of Mimzy was just such a great way to use her character. A fun entrance, thematic relevance, and a great plot device to reveal more about Alastor's situation and motives.

Like I said, at first the food tasted cold. I was thinking to myself "Eh, nothing really that crazy ig" but the more I watch the episodes and get over whatever my expectations were, the more I enjoy what's there.

Like, at first I was thinking, "Oh no Lucy's another akward dork, a normie, a loooooserr" (not that being an akward dork or a normie is bad but those were the vibes I was giving off, I'm sorry)

But I keep watching "Hell's Greatest Dad" and NOW it's like

LOOK AT HIM< LOOK AT HIM GO

Like, he's fugghing adorable with the "WAP BAP BOOM"

the puppets and the circus imagery, and just the innocent unmalicious enthusiasm. He's stumbling around over barely knowing his daughter and is now sprinting to make up for being so absent-- and even that absence is implied to be due to chronic depression and pining, missing heaven and having to live in hell forever, not only being the one who supposedly created it by accident, but tried and failed to fix it, even having his own theme park ripped off by a deadly Sin. The show calls it out bluntly, but despite his cheery tone and, yeaaah, no, yeaaah, no" attitude, they did a great job showing that his depression manifested in detachment and disinterest. It sucks for the people it effects but it also sucks to be the one who dropped the ropes in your relationships.

So seeing him brjghtenup and glow over just helping his Charlie put her hotel together was great. He feels useful and wanted again. And imo it's a double edge sword as well if Lucy feels like he has to be useful to be a decent dad.

So, idk. I guess I do want to see how he handles trying to be in Charlie's life again, especially since, at this point Alastor knows and has supported her more than he ever has-- despite the rough beginning and the mockery. (Also Lilith's face being faded out was sus af)

I'm convinced that in Al's case it's definitely not from a genuine place, at least, we still have no reason to believe it is. He was glaring at Lucy as soon as he walked in, and the nearly every comment on how great his relationship with Charlie is was also a jab to piss off Lucy instead of a genuine expression.

A performance, in short.

Still, the fact that someone who's only just met Charlie has a better relationship with her than her father has got to suck to realize if you're the father.

Also-- the scene at the club-- I was pretty mixed about it, like, doing drugs, itself isn't bad-- it can be unhealthy and it can put others at risk if you're resigning your cognizance and self control for the sake of coping with stress-- so it can very easily enable bad things, especially if you become addicted, so,imo is pretty wreckless and definitely a vice. But it doesn't make you a bad person.

But then again angels also seem to think premarital sex and promiscuity is bad too. (Promiscuity puts you at risk for disease, and like drugs can be driven by vices, but, again, the thing itself isn't bad and can still be a healthy practice when it comes from a healthy place)

I'm genuinely proud of Angel for actually growing though, seeing him take care of Nifty and protect her from Val got me on the "Fuck em up" energy. It's always great to see a group of friends watching out for eachother when they know there's a danger to what they're doing-- ESPECIALLY when one of them is new to it all. That's why if you ARE going to do drugs or drink or whatever, definitely don't do it alone or without someone you trust with your safety.

And also never feel like you have to do those things to maintain relationships, some people feel like it would be an insult to imply they dont trust someone or just for being disinterested in their offer. And, frankly there are people who will prey on that.

That was just a great scene. It had some flaws, but was still great.

LITA Ep 1 rewatch thoughts

Taking it from the top! Why is Phayu literally the nicest person ever? Like he just saw someone's car stalling near the road in the rain and he just stopped to help? I love that this is their official intro to each other bc it gives us viewers a clear impression of their dynamic from the very beginning. The music selection in this scene is so funny though bc it's intense and dangerous and Phayu is literally just telling Rain to turn his hazard lights on lmao.

I also love that every time Phayu helps Rain, he does so with encouragement for Rain to be more self-sufficient. The tire-changing is example one.

"You're so handsome" RAIN pls control yourself... I mean we all agree and Phayu's already looking interested but danggg

Ah Sky, the long-suffering (affectionate) BFF. Did we ever find out when they met? Was it just in college or before, bc it looks like Sky's Rain-related-nonsense-tolerance meter is constantly maxed out and that usually comes from long-term friendships.

I LOVE HIM there is not a single thought behind these eyes

Yassss department god Phayu for the win!! Love how this montage makes Phayu seem like a highly elegant and smart guy (which he is) but then we just watch him be a dork over Rain the rest of the series.

Fast forward a bit to the restaurant scene bc I forgot to keep typing...

Ok yeah sure you don't remember Rain, Phayu. Please, you made a beeline directly to him as soon as you walked in. Also, this scene makes my heart beat faster even though they do a lot more later on (where are those eyes looking, eh Phayu?).

The next scene where Phayu wipes Rain's hair gives me mixed feelings bc on the one hand, I don't like how Rain literally had to hit Phayu with a pillow before he'd let go, but on the other I didn't actually get a sense of danger from Phayu. I also did like that Phayu threw out "actually I'm bisexual" so casually - love that for us. I also think it's hilarious how fast Rain falls into the "I'm so into Phayu" headspace. I've heard some people call it subspace and from what I know I'm inclined to agree but I don't know enough to comment on that further. Also here begins the saga of Rain having a death-grip on Phayu's neck during intimate moments. We stan <3

Somehow I didn't notice the thermostat being set so low during every rewatch of this episode until now - I was always confused as to why Rain had to go under the covers but I get it.

When they wake up and Rain calls Phayu a bunch of names I couldn't stop laughing - it's even funnier when you know what's coming in the next few eps. Also my son really went "no thoughts head empty" after a single cheek kiss from Phayu. What a cutie

Rain cursing at the storm is so cute!!! Also we love our logical bestie Sky as always.

I LOVE P'Aon!! Also he's the first person to call Rain Phayu's boy and for some reason I think that's v v cute

I accidentally paused and can't stop laughing at Phayu's face here PLSSSS

And we've made it to the ending scene!! Ahhhh this makes me SO SOFT! I love it when characters tuck their face into their partner's neck when they're sleeping - there's something about the trust and comfort needed to do that which makes me so happy to see it play out. And Phayu's little "I'm really starting to like you, Rain" with the SOFTEST little smile on his face URGH I'M EXPERIENCING EMOTIONS

This is one of my favorite opening episodes of a series! We got introduced to all the main players as well as the key side-characters, and we got a good understanding of who Rain and Phayu are as individuals (less so on Phayu's side for now) and their dynamic together. I was so hyped to finish the rest of the series as soon as I finished this episode the first time

note: im not a troublemaker myself so i don't really know how to capture reader personality but i will try for you! i ask ppl on what's the weirdest school rule they have and doesn't think it's necessary so that i could have ideas for this.

day by day, you would be sent to the teacher's office because of your 'obnoxious' behavior. well clearly, they're the one who doesn't know how to make rules. the teachers are warning you to stop the behavior but what can they do?

you're one of the best students in hakuho academy. you're one of the reason why hakuho have a good reputation after all. the top3, the obvious top 1 is obvi reo mikage. you never had any intention to dethrone him though.

plus, the academy will do anything to close up any of your obnoxious behavior to the whole school. they won't let the best student ruin their reputation — but.. the top 1 student always 'tried' to stop you from breaking the rules. he's such a dork honestly. reo mikage, your rich boyfriend. yes, he is your boyfriend. unexpected, right?

rules 47 : you can't wear blue jackets to school even if it's the cold weather or raining.

"what kind of rules is this?" you grumbled. you were bored so you read through all the list of rules of hakuho academy while being in the comfort home of nagi. nagi and your boyfriend is playing on the PS5 while you sit back. you yawn and lazily blink your eyes at some of the stupid rules.

'blue jacket...' you glance at reo and a grin crawl up your face. "reooo, do you have a blue jacket?" you got closer to reo and lean your head on his shoulder. he glance at you while clicking on the console "yeah i do but it will definitely not fit you. it's too big for you." he stated while you pout "that's the point." he pauses his game and nagi groan.

"what are you thinking of doing with it?" he frown and lightly pat your head. you smirk at him; "why are you smirking.." he raise his brow and sigh "tomorrow i will give it to you." your eyes light up and hug his side "thank you!" he lightly blush at your gesture.

'maybe once in a while.. it's not that bad.'

as expected, reo's blue jacket it's too big for you. he had a tall figure, of course it will be big on you. you twirl around with blue jacket on you and laugh at size difference. reo smile at you trying out his blue jacket.

the moment you step past the school gate, you already got teachers coming onto you but oh! they were afraid to approach you because of reo and nagi being beside you. you wink at the teacher and wave. oh, so furious. reo lean to you "be careful going to class." he whisper. you raised a brow " i was aiming for the teacher to see me wearing it." you shrug with an amused tone.

reo chuckle at your carefree state 'this is what i like about you...' he so dreamingly gaze at you when suddenly plop! you fell. reo rush over you while nagi peek over reo's shoulder. "oi! are you okay?" he worried over you — your voice was muffling because you fell face planted to the floor. embarrassed to say so, you stand up to your feet without saying anything looking at other places rather than reo's face.

reo raise a brow and you put your hand behind your head and let out a little 'hehe' sound — hiding your embarassment.

ooooOOO it hasn't been asked before! I do plan on going more in depth with their relationship dynamics eventua l l y- so I suppose I'll mainly go into initial relationships/first impressions- ofc things will change and develop with time!! Ty for the question :>

She gets along rather well with Lilia and Malleus, more so Lilia given they're in the same club.

She honestly finds Lilia to be hilarious- though she often finds herself dodging any fatherly advice he may have to offer. They love the same type of music, share a sense of humor, and honestly can just chat for hours. Though- Lilia is a bit... concerned? For her wellbeing? He has to eventually acknowledge that, most of the time, she's not gonna listen to him unless whatever he has to say aligns with her stubborn ass. He hopes that can change. She, however, with uneasy feelings about parental and authority figures, just wants to continue their pleasant chats. Fatherless behavior

Malleus and her actually share a class! So- ig their relationship isn't entirely canon compliant, but the initial relationship is very similar. Though of course she's fuckin scared of him, she's on edge around every single damn magic user until she realizes theyre- also just people, yaknow. She sees no issues with talking with him regardless, there were plenty of fae in her homeland before, she doesn't get why some students are uneasy around them simply because theyre from briar valley- So I suppose Malleus would see her simply as being brave and entertaining at first similarly to canon, where she is just vibing, having a bit of fun with teasing him for being a dork. (She has memorized all the gargoyle terminology)

Silver and Sebek however...

She is uneasy around Silver. She can't read him as easily as she can everyone else. She doesn't always know what the best thing to say is in order to gain favor- because half the time his facial expression remains the same. She doesn't know how he's feeling. It's like she's gambling, rolling a dice trying different things- she doesn't like it, she's uncomfortable, but she remains civil. Silver is- oblivious to this at first until Lilia informs him otherwise, though ofc if he confronts Yuu about it, she would outright deny any and all of it regardless. At first, at least.

Sebek...

Oh Sebek.

Yuu, simply wanting to be seen, garner favor, be HEARD. Be someone who is important and matters, constantly being yelled over and disregarded... just for being human? For, what? Treating Malleus like a damn person? Oh, she's mad. She's mad mad. And now HE'S mad too- because how DARE she call Malleus a nerd???? Who would do such a thing???

They don't get along well, period. Even as they begin to see more of each other than simply what is on the surface- both being hardworking, stubborn, determined people when it comes down to it, it would still take a LONG time, and probably some intervention, in order to finally shake hands and call a truce to shouting matches. Until then, cover your ears <3

Hi! (this got a bit long, sorry for that,,)

I just finished reading the update and wanted to let you know I absolutely loved it! It was such a pleasant read, even if it wasn't packed with drama and action to the brim—I feel like a palate cleanser like this was appropriate after such an eventful start to the story.

I loved all the interactions between the characters, the dynamic between Oswin and Nathanael is especially fun. Actually, Nathanael by himself is fun. The oats sowing euphemism made me laugh more than it should have because, yes, I'm childish like that. What a dork; I love him. (I'm imagining now a scene in an alternate universe where MC stumbles up to Oswin dazed out of their mind after they shared a pipe with Nathanael, which is immediately followed by Oswin grabbing the merchant and shaking him until he spills out what it is he smokes—because we all know it ain't just plain ol' tobacco—and how could he let MC of all the three other people gathered take a drag, all while MC and Zahn sit by the fire, watching a looney tunes cartoon unfold before them.)

Oh, and Zahn! Oh man. Can I just say if they asked, I would give them anything? (the world, the universe, the stars; you name it.) Actually, no, scratch that—they don't even have to ask; I would just bring them all the yummy food and warm blankets and pamper them until they accept they are worth it, because they! are! not! a bad! person! Also, I don't know why, but before they were introduced, I had this image of them being a character that would only appear here and there (you know, like every story has a character that just doesn't get enough screen time), but knowing they'll be tagging along for a while longer makes me really happy! Right now it feels like a circus lol we have a horse (maybe also a mule), an elk, a cat and a golden retriever✨.

I also found it particularly interesting how you implemented the hobbies! To be honest, I haven't read the flavor text for all of them yet, but I picked sewing as soon as I saw it as an option (no reason, I just liked the idea). My MC chose to be a healer, so learning that they were the most trusted with stitching up wounds was a really nice touch. Nathanael cracks me up too. I find fun in writing for all of them, but I feel like he gives me more liberties. I wrote the oats line and made myself crack up, but thought most wouldn't find it quite as funny so I'm glad you did! Also, your imagination is pretty much spot on with that scenario!

The hobby section was fun, but also a little bit of a slog for me to write since it was huge, so you won't find a ton of differences. The exception is the singing hobby. I really want to incorporate original music in some way, but I have zero - absolute zero - skills in it, including writing lyrics. I went a little extra, and I found a small artist to help me out, though the type of song I asked for was like waaay out of their normal wheelhouse, lol. I think they did a wonderful job. They are listed in the credits too.

I can't wait to give you a chance to spoil Zahn a bit! They need it and will adore you for it! Well, they will adore you pretty well regardless, lol. Shadow does not like clothing, but he's also getting attached to MC - best bed he's tried probably ever - so he'll make an exception to wear the little sweater.

Lodge Adaman interactions are up, and...wow, do I have some opinions about it.

Starting with the Pokemon, I do think it's great that Grass is the standard type of the Diamond Clan given Hisuian Lilligant. I also think it's cool that he's interested in Pokemon Behavior specifically. Like it's the most interesting aspect to him, even beyond just raising Pokemon himself.

Items make sense. I think it's kinda neat that Z-Crystals are listed as points of interest. Like yeah, these things are cool. Also he likes Gym Badges. Has no idea what the fuck a gym is, but the badges are neat.

Friends check out, kinda love that Irida's there, also find it really funny that no one else in Diamond Clan is his friend. Oh god is this signaling who gets in? Oh god are they gonna add Melli? Putting that aside, he's slight friends with Dexio. ...how? Is Dexio even on the island? Elio is also an interesting pick, I don't have enough of a handle on Elio as a character to have a sense for that dynamic. Being friends with Lyra and Rosa feels like they just picked the grass starter protags, but I could definitely see Rosa getting along with him. I also like how it's all or nothing. Either he is absolute friends, or you're like a distant acquaintance, but at no point are you casually friends. Ride or die, bitch.

Hobbies. My man can cook. I also love that Time is a hobby. Like yes, I enjoy the hobby of experiencing time. Or maybe it's like contemplating time? Either way, dork. I do think it's hilarious that Space counts but only slightly, and that apparently the one modern attraction he latched on to was Ferris Wheels. Get him and N to hang out.

Fashion is whatever, not much to say.

But now I start yellin. Places. Why is Lake Verity listed? Diamond Clan is situated next to Valor, not Verity. That seems like you just copied Dawn's answer to avoid needing to make a new one. Also how does he actually know any of these specific places? Ecruteak? Melemele? Fucking Pallet? He's never been there! Why would he care? This feels weird to me. Ecruteak at least checks out because Lore, but I cannot imagine what Pallet Town is offering him. This was like the one time to have very few listed places, but for some reason they still slapped a bunch in. Also apparently he is never neutral about anything unless it's in a very specific location.

Others is packed with hilarity and frustration. First, Impatience is listed as his favorite thing. I kinda love the commitment to being this way. Second, Ninjas rank high. Guess he's a fan of Benny. Fourth, Pearl Clan is moderate favoritism, which is just kinda comical. Fifth, one of his Others interests is Fancy Lady. Cultured. But the big one. The one that drives me up a goddamned wall. Is Space-time distortion. DeNA. Listen. You can't just keep slapping region specific stuff into characters' favorite things list like that. The entire point of the distortions was that no one liked them and they caused endless problems, the fuck do you mean Adaman loves them? I'm sorry, this one just feels like complete nonsense.

On the whole, pretty fun spread, but man I really wish they'd put just a little more thought into Lodge choices. Lake Verity has borderline nothing to do with him, it should be Valor but they didn't want to add another selection so they reused Dawn's. And the Space-Time Distortion being a favorite is just them over-emphasizing "They love stuff from their region and nothing else!" It's frustrating. Just once, I want a character that's like "Yeah, my region blows, but this other region is cool." So long as it's not Kanto they're bigging up.

LMAO okok yeah fair I should've expected this.

Under the cut. This is a ramble.

So in the start of the Crystal Tower arc, Azure considers Graha to be something of a...petulant brat. Often reminding him of a child who thinks being given a job means they're a grownup now. Of course, this was back when Azure was MUCH quieter, so he said nothing. Just judged with his mean gay stare.

As their time in the Tower continues, Azure does warm up *slightly* to Raha. Since Azure is newer to studying magic than...literally everyone around him in this scenario, the two end up talking a lot. Especially since Azure has a crash course in Allagan magic that no one else has had access to yet (Ymhitra is still writing the research paper).

Raha is a giant dork so obviously he's enamored with the WoL the entire time (loser). Doesn't pick up on the fact that Azure doesn't particularly like him and that stubborn drive to be friendly is what gets Azure to warm up.

When Raha decides to give up his life to the tower to preserve it, Azure is...frankly offended. The Allagans deserve no such sacrifice, in his opinion, and for it to be done by someone with such a zest for life and a hard childhood infuriates him. He openly says "fuck their wishes." and calls them monsters/warmongers who have no right to make demands of anyone.

The last thing Raha heard from Azure was "You are a fool and an imbecile and I wash my hands of this." before the au ra stormed off.

Their dynamic at the start of SHB is JUST as one sided as it is in CT if not moreso. Because G'raha Tia is a fool and an imbecile and Azure wishes he could wash his hands of all this.

In truth, I think Raha would think Azure hates him and would hate him more if Azure knew the truth. And that's part of why the Exarch keeps his identity a secret.

Azure is so skilled at being cold and making a person feel judged. And the Exarch has been kidnapping his friends' souls and seemed to genuinely think approaching Azure like a friend would be fine.

But Raha can't help being enamored with how kind Azure is to other people. Particularly the twins. He's sweet and supportive and quick to protect people. A storybook hero, truly. And easy to romanticize.

It makes what Raha is asking Azure to do twist the knife in his gut that much more.

This will now get less thoughtful cause eepy and I've been rambling.

Their relationship picks up towards the end. They enjoy an old man/disabled moment sitting together. What with all that Crystal and Azure fucking. Dying. Raha has all sorts of feelings about Azure saying "I've always wondered what it'd be like to go on an adventure just for fun."

Post reveal and Emet defeat, the two actually start to talk. Azure apologizes. Graha apologizes. Azure tells Graha to keep apologizing, reminding him the list is quite long.

The Scions note how quickly the two seem to get along once Azure gets over his frustrations. They just...click well together.

Feelings turn romantic quickly, but nothing comes of it. The two share lingering touches.

Raha wishes Azure wasn't so...comfortable being in revealing clothes now.

Things become *actually* romantic at some point post return to the Source. Come sit in Azure's lap babygirl.

I'm skipping EW for now but Raha has to accept the fact that his new boyfriend comes with two teenage adopted children. Insert Yshtola laughing at the little family in front of her when Alisaie, Raha, and Azure are all reading with the first two falling asleep.

On top of that they're both extremely quiet and usually quite serious in the comics adding a very interesting dynamic!!!

They're both very mission focused and pretty often keep their thoughts to themselves, Helia obviously much more than Riven bc Riven makes comments here and there but he doesn't have sustained conversations with really anyone in the comics

(also this being after the Shab stone is so weird, comic Riven is acting more like his show counterpart and being a loose canon who hates authority, wait, now he's back to normal and hanging out in the background again)

It also really looks like they're making silent eye contact here, which I know is just me reading into things, but I enjoy it

ok since I'm half asleep as it is second ask for the morning: what's the dynamic you see between the doctor and Nearl? do you think they keep it secret once they're aware it's actually mutual, do they broach the topic quickly or dance around it like awkward little nerds, also OBVIOUSLY I have to ask if either doms/subs for the other? does nearl enjoy letting go of being so strong and in control during her daily life and enjoy getting bossed around a bit as a peaceful sexy vacation from having to be the inspiration for the whole of Kazimierz

This is a very good and excellent question thank you for asking it

0% chance they act on it immediately. Nearl is a giant dork and will suffer nobly in silence even once she realizes the feelings involved are mutual. She'll come up with plenty of noble, self-sacrificing justifications for hiding from her feelings.

Meanwhile Doc is justifiably worried about HR, Kal'tsit, and how it affects their relationships with other operators and is pretty hesitant to make a move for that reason. They're also, like, still trying to piece together who they are and what their old self was like (and what that old self meant to the people around them), so they're not going to make big moves like this with any sort of alacrity. Eventually someone just tells them to "kiss already, you idiots" and they finally stop pining and allow themselves to be happy

They switch off who doms and who subs. Both of them face so much pressure all the time and really enjoy being able to let go and hand themselves over to someone they love and trust. Being able to just not worry about anything besides doing what they're told for a bit is a really helpful release from all The Responsibilities, and of course both of them love being able to offer the other that release as much as they do receiving it for themselves. Doc may spend a lot of time ordering operators around to ensure that Rhodes Island runs smoothly, but we've seen that they're pretty agreeable and willing to go with the flow under normal circumstances, and we can't forget that Nearl is a knight at heart. She's a devoted champion, she loves having herself a lord/lady to serve ;)

ive always been confused as to why people ship edxling, it feels so random. nothing against it, it just feels like one of those ships with no basis in canon and is just people wanting to ship two dudes because its gay. also i noticed edxling shippers basically ignore winry and lan fan's existence. so i wanted to ask you, since you seem to really like the ship but also are knowledgeable on fma beyond just shipping, why exactly do people ship edxling and why is it more popular than lingxlanfan?

okk so i DO NAUT know if i'm really the BEST person to answer this cuz i'm rly into a specific niche of ling/ed and not much interested in them as a couple during canonverse (post-canon boys ofc, as i'm known for ^_^)!!!! but i'll like... try to answer why i THINK people like it (′︿‵｡)

○ PART 1. - HOW THEY INTERACT IN CANON

ed and ling have a (relatively) strong basis in canon! they actually often interact from the time they meet, getting more screen-time or time to be around each other in canon than some other characters we see associated with them. and i think the widest appeal most people get from them is that they're boys in the same rough situation around the same age so they can relate to each other, so just the main concept behind their interactions as characters?

i also think a big thing with the interest in them is interpretation. a lot of people kind of feed off of crumbs in canon and view them a certain way which wasn't originally intended but is nice (and entertaining!) to view in a romantic light lol

i personally know that ofc, my main interest with them as a PAIRING isn't in canon but more post-canon starting with ling as emperor and ed ambiguous where there's more interpretation for how they turn out, how they would interact with each other; since they're essentially a blank slate if i wanted to fiddle with a few things whereas with other pairings in fma i can't really do that with because their roles are definitely set and i have to jump over hoops unless i just want to make something not resembling the epilogue in that regard which, if i'm not very interested, makes things difficult for me to really care for a couple which is a big appeal for me imo for them (but i'll stop rambling about that because it's hyperspecific as a writer and getting to analyze the characters and tear them down). so most of why i care for them is really just my interpretation of them and that's why i can't really speak much for why other people are into the pairing

another part of it is tropes..... i think tropes are a BIG one for a lot of people :-) you've got a makeshift and universally accepted sun and moon dynamic with the canon yin and yang colour scheme, you have idiots/idiots, royalty/commoner (who defies the regular trope just by being an asshole and ling not really giving a shit about the royalty thing beyond the principal of him being born into it alone so it isn't tacky ya novel tropey), tall/small, foodie x foodie, battle couple, and just them being a generally normal couple beyond their lives being a gd trainwreck with their positions and shared traumas because the dudes are just kind of chilling out personality-wise with how they act towards each other. they're The Buds Of All Time In Canon If You're Into A More BROTP SItuation™.

there's opportunity for pretty much any genre with them as well in regards to the most simplest categories of angst and fluff because they're both dorks and, as is fma, have Loads Of Baggage and can butt heads if you so wanted to set that situation up :o) they're very flexible characters when it comes to a dynamic!

○ PART 2. - I MEAN YEAH THEY'RE GAY I GUESS

yeah they gay keep scrolling :o))) i don't really have much to say about this one beyond personal takes because i see a lot of people going "people are just shipping this because it's gay!" about literally any m/m or w/w pairing ever and like....... as a gay man i just.... like seeing characters be gay, i don't see issues with that unless it's people fetishizing my identity. i don't want to go too deep into this one because it's more just my personal feelings as a gay man when i hear this sort of thing whereas i usually don't care unless asked out of someone's morbid curiosity

it's one of those things where i think most of the fandom just likes seeing themselves represented and i think worrying about people ONLY liking them from them being a male/male ship isn't an issue at all that you need to really worry about tbf

again it's just one of those things where i think if a person's reasoning for it is "it's gay i like it" is because they identify with the identity they assign to the characters in some way, just like giving an interpretation, so i could care less really........... most of the appeal i'd feel is them looking at ed and ling both and going wow they're both boys and they can relate to each other and they've been through a lot together in the span of canon, and they're (maybe) my favourite characters! i wonder what they'd be like as a couple?

or they fall into the aforementioned trope thing, etc and i honestly don't think that's a big part of it it's just an "oh i like them" thing. it's like picking out barbies at the store like i couldn't really care less if that were the case and if that is a personal issue it's one that shouldn't really be an issue just in a "minding your own business" way

○ PART 3. - NOT CARING IS A WARCRIME

honestly in terms of ling/ed enjoyers "typically" not caring about winry and lan fan, i haven't seen that, like... much if at all but that might only be because i DO NOT interact with the edling enjoyers in this fandom outside of like two other people that aren't me, one of whose favourite characters jump between lan fan and winry when i actually like them a lot myself... because.... they're the girlies of all time

(also i suck at paying attention and i don't mean to it's just a Thing That I Do)

most people into them though that i've observed (at least recently which is kind of skewered since ling/ed content only happens every gd blue moon we are fighting for our gd lives out here it's usually only a few people actually consistently posting on social media beyond casual writers on ao3) usually like edwin and lingfan, put them in a polycule, stir until well mixed, or actually draw/write/like one or the other MORE than them because edling is one of those things where it's like most of us go "well cool! i'll do a thing for this and probably never again" which is COOL and amazing but it's mostly one of those things we look at collectively and go well theyre neat. anyways,

like i don't ONLY focus on ships or certain characters in fullmetal alchemist as a watching/reading experience while definitely having favourites and i usually don't pay attention to people who only do so that............... that might be my issue here.........! :o) give me the clown nose boys

also when it comes to 'ignoring' winry and lan fan i don't think there's much of a basis when it comes to ignoring them because some people might just not really care for them as characters and honestly that's their cup of tea, not much to really get curious or worried about; same with their respective ships

while i personally ADORE lingfan winfan and winpan and can talk about them for a while i don't really care for edwin much because i'm not into childhood friends to lovers and i don't much care for how they were written in canon. it's just a matter of preference really with anything, and on the topic of wondering why lingfan isn't as popular i simply think it's a matter of them being less popular characters and the reason they DO get as much content as they do at all is likely because they're implied to be canon in the same boat royai is

...because ed and roy are, ofc, the titular characters in the franchise :-)

edling/linged being more popular i feel is a case of "edward is the protag that most of the fanbase will cling to immediately therefore it's popular" and people attract to it because if into it they WILL usually want to headcanon him as bi or gay and have a ship catered to their interests to view him in that light

being cross-platform with twitter, ao3, and tumblr altogether i've seen more of people asking why people are into the pairing or saying people into the pairing are overbearing than literally any content or people actually talking abt the gd dudes because it's again.... it's.... it's literally just like six of us locked in this homosexual little room altogether, me included, speaking from experience because i have been Producing Content For Them Consistently For A Few Years Now! Most Of What You're Seeing Is Either Years Old Or Just Word Of Mouth, Goddammit

obviously i'm not gonna toot my own horn about being dramatic over being into a pairing and be like 'fullmetal alchemist fandom.... UNITE to create edling content!' because it isn't worth my time and i'm not THAT invested in them, especially not more than the series itself since it's far more intriguing and open for possibilities to me without romance at all, but like guys we r people just vibing we just think they're neat

○ PART 4. - CONCLUSION TO MY... THESIS

i actually have no idea how long this is or where i was going with this but i tried to address anything from the ask! yeah no i don't really care about debating these guys on the internet or anything about the fandom at all and i try to avoid it the best i can but this just seemed like a question so hopefully this sated ur curiosity anon :^) thank you for letting me rant about my blorbos and hopefully u don't think any part of this was meant to be condescending

obviously no one has to be into these guys but hopefully this helped u understand a bit from my experience :o)

TL;DR: i think people are into it mostly because of how they interact, wanting to project their own identities onto their favourite characters, tropes, and enjoying the character dynamics together! can't really talk about the lan fan and winry situation because i haven't noticed it and i don't think ling and lan fan being less popular is something to get worked up about, relatively

ACTUAL TL;DR: none of the points i've made are relevant to the ship in my personal opinion there is no reason for this post to even Exist. i just like them because i think they're cool. sometimes you don't need a reason u just like them. the pairing doesn't have to be interesting, can be Average or Mid™ just don't be a dick and don't be outwards about that sort of thing with your thoughts in that regard as is common courtesy

Meggy, might I present some thoughts about Bob Floyd and his family?? Be warned, kitchen shenanigans can and will ensue and I promise I will have some new Calvin thoughts/thots coming soon (lol).

Bob, his dad, Joe Floyd, and his brothers all have this hilarious dynamic where they give each other the worst amount of shit possible. Bob is a total sweetheart with his mom, you and his sisters, but with the men in the family? All bets are off.

Michael, his oldest brother is a police officer who's seen some seriously crazy shit on the job. It was the morning after your wedding when Bob woke up a little hungover with his hair sticking up at weird angles and looking like utter hell and the first words out of Michael were "oh my God you look scarier than that crackhead I arrested two weeks ago." (lol).

Sean is a firefighter who has also seen some crazy shit on the job. Funniest call he ever got was a fire at a house on a college campus and he was on the radio, manning the hose coming from the truck when a drunken frat boy jumped buck-naked from the top window and landed on top of the firetruck (lol).

Liam is a physical therapist who works with disabled veterans which is how he met his wife. Liam's wife lost part of her leg when she was in Afghanistan but the two of them have run together in marathons all over the US, including Boston. Alot of the prize money that Liam and his wife have won has gone to helping disabled military and first responders.

Then there's Eugene. Eugene's a bit of a dork but he's unbelievably street smart when it comes to running a business. And when it comes to his brothers giving him shit?? He's got a tongue sharper than a razor (lol).

"Hey Eugene, nice wig what's it made of?"

"DAD'S CHEST HAIR!!!!"

When they're all with Mom or Meemaw, these boys are sweet as pie, but if it's Dad and Papa??? DO NOT.....I REPEAT........DO NOT LEAVE THESE ALIEN ASSHATS ALONE FOR MORE THAN FIVE MINUTES!!!!!

It all started with Thanksgiving kitchen shenanigans. You were out with Bob's Mom, Irene, and Marty, his Meemaw, getting last minute groceries when Irene's phone suddenly blew up with pictures of Bob, Joe and the boys engaging in some pretty stupid kitchen shenanigans. Beer was involved and Joe ended up accidentally slicing his finger to which Irene could only groan, "I'm gonna fuckin kill them when we get home" (lol).

Getting the tree for Christmas was no easy feat either. At the tree lot they had found the perfect tree, nice and full, tall and just absolutely gorgeous. Joe looked around at the boys and was like "did either of you numbskulls bring a saw?" The looks on their faces said it all and it left them having to literally dig the tree out of the ground, roots and all and drive home with it strapped to the top of the truck. When they got home, they drew straws to see who was gonna have to cut the stump and needless to say Bob ended up having to do it. He ended up coming out in a Jason mask from Halloween and scared the shit out of the neighbors (lol, if you've ever seen National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, you'll get the reference, if not it's all good).

Joe's also had a rather colorful Navy piloting career and goes by many nicknames (Foul Mouth Floyd is always a favorite, because the man has no filter, lol) but none are more well known than his callsign, "Rabbit". Mav and Ice used to be members in his unit and were dumbfounded that he and Irene had as many kiddos as they did with Bob being the youngest (eight total and Joe was the seventh of thirteen, the men in the family clearly have out of control breeding kinks and Bob clearly inherited that gene, lol).

Meggy there's so much more I could add to this but I just can't for I am in the silliest of moods and this just randomly waltzed in like it owned the place (lol).

Mary! yes absolutely! please indulge me with some much needed Bob thoughts 🥰 i can’t wait to read these & future Calvin ones too :))

Which of you dummies would join a book club ?

Santi would join one that talks about erotic books, he'd read the back of the book to get an idea of the book. He doesn't actually read it. He just let's the dorky humans get themselves riled up discussing the book. He just sitting their planning on how he gonna rail all the little dorks and nerds. When they ask him about the book he describes sensual secen that vaguely resemble the book . Its not right but no one is calling him out due to being highly flustered

I can see Nebul joining one and actually does get into discussion because he actually reads the books. If the book club discusses a book with a master in it. He gets really into and imagines himself as the master of all the little humans in the group. It gets quite because Nebul got little into it and he just plays it off as joking. The group is a little quiet after that.

I could see Patches join one. IF THAT LOSER GOT OUT THE CELERGY MORE AND LET HIMSELF HAVE FUN. He just so happened to join one with a cute human in it.(he actually been stalking them for a month now.) He just so happens to start talking to the cute human and becoming their book buddies really fast because they have so much in common.

Maybe Obie if his crush is in one and their always food their.

I'm not to sure about the rest. But I thought of funny Scenario with Admin. It's silly canon. Never to happen in canon.

Admin in a club meeting discussing the romance of the two main characters.

Book clubs, huh?

Oh yeah, Santi only reads if it's something made by an author from the lust ring. And even then, his attention span can leave a lot to be desired if it isn't like, the raunchiest thing to ever be written. He brings volumes of filthy eroticas to every meeting, especially anything to do with incubi, so that he can then read nasty passages aloud and interrupt with:

Or:

Nebul is usually one to stick to more philosophical books or anything related to astrology, even astronomy or psychology. He won't shy from an erotic romance once or twice however. Though he's likely to go on long-winded spiels about how most of these romances portray a flawed or lackluster interpretation of power imbalances in kink. Or how they're nothing compared to the true symbiosis of master and pet dynamics.

The wraith will likely sit next to the most timid or soft-spoken people and get off by exerting pressure on them. They're silently influenced to agree with him and get subtle praise when they do so, he's already working his magic without them even knowing. Any more dominant-presenting people will be challenged into backing down constantly. He wants to be in charge of the club.

Let's face it, Obie is more likely to eat the books when no one's looking than actually read them. Uhh... What chapter are we on again?

Patches knows every book you like and he's read them all before you. Do you want recommendations? Because the dullahan has at least twenty possible titles you'd probably love. Oh no no, you don't have to buy them! He'll let you borrow his copies, it's the least he can do for someone as cultured as you! Besides, the two of you seem to have similar tastes, how about you ditch this club and he can take you two somewhere calmer to read together?

Whenever you read any book, Krulu is also technically reading it, even if indirectly. He's probably complaining that you take much longer to read than him, which drives the higher nuts. If you do go to any book club, I assure you Krulu's going to be scrutinizing everyone in the back of your mind, and he will force you to criticize mediocre writing in the most possible insulting manner towards the people who enjoy reading it. Human literature bores him to the core, it's a complete snoozefest for Krulu. They'll get bored enough to fuck around with the surroundings, making walls deform or objects move on their own, touching people without them seeing his hands. Anything to speed this shit up.

Agner would love a book club, he's the only one that's normal about it.

i think a lot about the difference between getting paid time off and taking days off--in my position, i feel like i take fewer days off than i would if my schedule and pto weren't so regimented. also, i just restrict my time off kind of pathologically because of the austerity of it all. puts you in a head space! my hours are really capped, so i can't make more subbing or something like i could at the public library. but at four days (esp. while in school) i don't really feel like i can get a second (regular) job (although i'm entering gig archives career period lol so that'll be happening next year). i mean i personally can't really work over 35 hours health and transportwise but i just mean even hypothetically. i couldn't really get second regular part time library job, office job, or retail job because of the hour demands of this one (although i do really look for local weekend-only library jobs, they never go up, and many of the sub jobs are overt scabbing [please watch out for this in libraries]). eta: i guess i should say, when i worked in public libraries, and i don't know if it's still like this, the part time clerk condition was thought of in 20-25 hour blocks and was a bit more.. modular. a lot of us may work 20 hours here, 20 hours at another library, 10 or 15 hours as a page. but because of the fake-professional nature of ts/circ at the academic library it doesn't feel designed to do that (but doesn't compensate enough to make itself livable on its own.) (also i should say, back in the day at least, as i started in clerkship really at peak post-recession library industry austerity, librarians lived like that too.) anyway we talk a lot in society about how many days we 'get' off but i want to know more about how many days we 'take' off regardless of if they're paid, and also this is fundamentally a different thing than how many hours someone works.

another thing that i'm kind of pilled on, and i don't mean this to sound haterish but. i was really shocked to discover that the chain food service workers i organize with, their companies are calling them "full time" when they are not full time. i guess i knew that this was happening but the legality escapes me. when i was a barista at not-really a chain, the practice of scheduling someone less than 40 hours to deny them benefits was hugely agitating to my coworkers. (an interesting dynamic was that we viewed it as what they did to the service workers--shop and cafe--in the museum, when the professionals got a better deal.) so it would make sense that starbucks in particular would have a rhetorical strategy to anticipate that, and (as i understand) extend their so-called benefits to less-than forties. in all the cases i'm referring to, workers say (and this makes perfect sense) is that they are called "full time" because they are allowed to work up to 40 hours, but never more, and their managers basically schedule them so that they can last-minute schedule them more hours. so they'll be on the schedule at 28-30 hours but may last minute work 38. and everywhere that's unionizing right now, especially starbucks, is using underscheduling as a tactic.

QUICK pitch for a union. if you go to a job every day in order to collect a wage from somebody, the "somebody" you collect wages from has every particular of their dumb ass little business or service provision enterprise planned out for decades. this is the economy. there is NO reason, unless you're saving lives, or choosing to be a freelance little art dork working on your own time, or whatever, and even then tbh but setting that aside, there is no reason why you should not have a guarantee about how many hours you will work on this pay period, and how many dollars will be on your next paycheck. perhaps even your next few! any deviation from that expectation should only really be determined by your personal decision (or perhaps negotiation with a coworker) to work more or less than than that. there is no reason you should be working at a god damn drive through coffee business in a shopping center and not know whether you're going to work 56 or 80 hours this month. absolutely none and this one thing is what a union is for, in my opinion. almost everybody in a union can say with some certainty exactly what they will be working (or exchanging pto for) and receiving for the next, say, 30-90 days. that itself is what it's worth.

anyway here's what's driving me crazy, and i can't decide how i feel about it. all of these people who work 28-35 hour weeks call themselves "full time" because that's what their boss says they are. i am curious if there is a potential strategy in doing this, but i'm haterish because i ROUTINELY get told i work less than the service workers when they work fewer or the same amount of hours. not naming names but a certain someone has often been working 25 hour weeks but saying they're full time and i'm part time :|.

i personally choose to organize around "part time work" because of a political strategy and identification i see within it, right, especially in my fields (libraries and higher ed.) my impulse is that these heaux have false consciousness... girl you are a part timer. part time work is queer you should lean into it
