actually we're going to talk about Folie more because it makes me frickin insane that the two songs that took lyrics from to you unfinished are Coffee's For Closers and w.a.m.s. and in both cases the words are twisted to make them so incredibly painful. because to you is basically to my reading a huge love letter to the band's through all their ups and downs, "all us believers still believe every time we sing "two more weeks'," "you put my head in such a flurry," "send my love, to everyone above" etc etc etc and then not only does CFC take "preaching electric to a microphone stand" and pair it with the words I will never believe in anything again, but w.a.m.s. pulls "worry worry you put my head in such a flurry/ freckle freckle what makes you so special" from the heart of a poem about a band that is also a family and then IMMEDIATELY AFTERWARD says I'm gonna leave you, I'm gonna teach you how we're all alone. everything about the spirit of to you unfinished is flipped on its head, recontextualized and handed back poisoned. Folie is almost a breakup album and What A Catch, Donnie sounds like a farewell going into a hiatus that no one knew if they'd come off of. the way to you unfinished fits in feels almost like the same sentiment behind I Don't Care, lyrics taken and twisted around and pointed back, extra sharp, extra venomous, without concern for the harm caused. Pete going down with the ship, maybe. my love and hate for you are infinite, etc etc etc. do you get what I'm saying here?? *shaking you* do you get it?!

the thing about labru vs kabumisu is that both of them have the same core appeal to me, specifically from kabru's side of things: kabru being someone who is constantly agonizing about social rules and putting on the right mask, and meeting this Weird Fucking Guy who does not (cannot) care about all those things, and so kabru slowly allows himself to be more genuine. they're both such good relationships (whether you view them romantically or platonically), why must there be so much hostility between enjoyers of these ships?

There are only so many fanfics that use the entirety of DC as cardboard cutouts to prop up bat family characters that I can read before I go berserk.
I swear to god. Every character that has ever been shipped with a bat or coexists on the same team as a bat is owed an apology.
How many Young Justice fanfics that solely revolve around Tim must exist? How many Titans fanfics centered only on Dick? Why is it a herculean task to find a Justice League fanfic without Bruce as the main character?
And then even when you do find a fic that seems like it's balanced, everything still revolves around the bat. Like Kon, Cassie and Bart have nothing else going on in their lives except Tim and Tim's issues or thinking about Tim. Like Donna and Wally and Roy just cannot function if they aren't spending every waking moment thinking about Dick.
I'm... Guys. I'm at my limit. I swear to god. We need to make a Batman tag and surgically remove all these fics and quarantine them there. We'll keep the actual DC fics and they can do whatever the fuck they want in their own tag. It's getting ridiculous how hard it is to find fanfic that's actually DC related and isn't just 'The BatFam Show'.

HifuDo is mental. They're an established relationship but they're still painfully pining for each other. They're in that stage where they each have (not actually) unrequited love for each other and think that the other does not feel the same. But they're married.
And it drives me insane.

wait hang on who are the hot gay boys in that gif set you reblogged
HGLHSIERGLSJDGALKSHGLK i was gonna put the [do you have any idea how little that narrows it down] meme but im pretty sure u mean this one <3 and in any case i will always be down to ramble about the Sillies(tm)
ok so those guys in particular are from the fox procedural called 9-1-1 Lone Star, which is a spinoff of the original 9-1-1 (which just got moved to abc after some Drama that went down so my tag for it is 911 (not fox) lmaoo). but both shows are about first responders (firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, police) with a particular focus on firefighters. 9-1-1 (the og) is set in LA, and primarily focuses on the 118 firehouse and the firefighters/paramedics there with some other characters in the main cast who work as dispatchers/police officers (the police storylines are more often than not FULL of copaganda which sucks but the main focus is on the firefighters so i'm able to enjoy the rest of the show). 9-1-1 Lone Star is pretty much the same except it's set in austin texas, and is about the 126 firehouse. there are onscreen queer characters in both (in the og there's a married lesbian couple raising a kid, and in lone star there's the aforementioned hot gay boys [one of whom is unfortunately a cop but i swear to GOD i will get him out of there. one day.] and in lone star there's also a trans man and wlw woman in the main cast.) and my favorite thing about these shows is the found family !!! like these are the shows that have endeared firefighter aus to me because they live together and eat meals together and just. the familial/platonic love is So Powerful and it legiterally makes me cry to watch. like there's romance ofc but genuinely it's one of my favorite found family medias to ever exist. its So.
of the two the og is my favorite for a LOT of reasons, but they're both pretty enjoyable !! lone star definitely has more of a comedic tone than og (theyre BOTH funny but lone star doesn't have as many somber intense moments as og does, and they're much more spread out so there's a lot more room for goofy shenanigans. but og still definitely has plenty of those) and the team dynamics in them both are just...ughhh <3333
HOWEVER. lone star has ..... Him...(derogatory)...he's the fire captain and (despite lone star SUPPOSEDLY being an ensemble show with no Main Character) is in fact. the Main Character. and he's the blandest most obnoxious crustiest white man to ever LIVE. he gets most of the storylines and he's constantly propped up by the writing as The Coolest Guy Ever when he's just . not . i hate him so much it's unreal it's soo so unreal (<- biting the bars of my cage) BUT the rest of the team ??? absolutely love them. like i DO love lone star a lot its a great show with great characters and dynamics but it just has. the most annoying guy to ever live front and center when ITS SUPPOSED TO BE AN ENSEMBLE SHOW FEATURING EVERYONE EQUALLY. grr. anyway. og does a much better job of being an ensemble show, and i could not choose a favorite character of the main cast if you held me at gunpoint. angela bassett is there. i am gay. jennifer love hewitt is there. i am very gay. etcetera.
AND SINCE YOU ASKED SPECIFICALLY ABOUT THE LONE STAR GAYS ILL TELL YOU A BIT ABOUT THEM
so one of them is tk strand (firefighter/paramedic, also the son of the Main Character (derogatory). i have many many many thoughts about that. i would probably get gunned down in this fandom if i ever said them aloud.) and the other one is carlos reyes (a private detective TO MEEEEEEEEEEEE but unfortunately fox is full of cowards who refuse to see the truth. they wanna have a gay cop in their show sooo bad </3) and they're kind of the main romance of the show (there Are others ofc but theyre like. The Focus. which is fine ig but i do wish there was more focus on other relationships because in general lone star isnt as good as the ensemble thing as og. but i already complained about that so i digress.)
now they're a fun pair because one of them has been shot, frozen almost to death, and otherwise put into a coma on MULTIPLE occasions. and it's not the guy whose entire job is to get shot at. (the whump in both of these shows.....................absolutely effervescent. im thriving here.) and they have a very fascinating relationship because their personalities fit together really well but they have different ways of coping with shit that kind of tear each other apart a little bit. which is of course terrible for them but incredible for me. and the writing is at times ridiculous. soap opera-esque, even. they're ridiculous. i adore them. they cannot catch a god damn break and i love that for them even more. <3

love that 2.02 gives me "Spahr is having a bad day and we're going to acknowledge that, his head? yikes. a mess in here, but nobody who isn't us needs to know that" exactly what I asked for, yes, I do want to know how messy it is in there bc I've been suspecting that it is CHAOS in there. nobody with that polished of a performance is actually as tidy inside their own mind, never is.
and I'm just "YESSSS" about Spahr feeling this guilt and anger and worry over Phineas and wanting to blame Imelda but feeling mostly angry at Phineas and most of all himself for having failed Phineas in so many ways and it's just like a bad feeling in an unquantifiable way, like, yes, love this, this is content for me, very excited you feel guilt, Spahr, there is hope for you yet

happy Sunday! 💖
Philautia 3 & Ludus 3 for Maria / Philia 5 for Arianwen / Eros 5 for Emmaera
Happy Sunday to you as well! 💗
(Some discussion of sex below the break and in the tags)
(7 Forms of Love Asks)
Philautia 3: Does your OC judge themselves by the same standards as they apply to others? Or are they sometimes hypocritical in condemning others for faults they also possess? Or perhaps they find it easier to forgive others for things that they cannot abide in themselves?
Maria is harder on herself than she is on anyone else. I think her standards for others vary based on the other person's situation---she has a very low opinion of the rich, for example, because they do so little to give back---but in general, she holds herself to a high standard. When she fails, she internalizes it and struggles to let it go. That isn't something she would show outwardly, though; she laughs a lot off and dwells on it in private. Only the people who know her best have any idea how personally she takes failure.
Ludus 3: How does your OC feel about one night stands? Have they ever enjoyed a night of passionate romance with a stranger? Is this something they are quite keen on recreationally? Or only something they might engage in under specific circumstances (such as the eve of a battle or after a difficult breakup)?
Ooof. Yeah.
Definitely not something she ever thought about before Fenris. Maria found people attractive before him, and flirted and dated (a little), but Fenris was the first person she actually wanted to have sex with. If she'd thought for a second that it would be a one-night thing, she would have told him to go home. After that night, she really, really struggled to find a balance between wanting him to stay around (and remain her friend) and trying to put her feelings for him aside.
(I think from his perspective...the only thing she could think to do was not touch or look at or be near him at all. Given how affectionate she is to all of her friends otherwise, the contrast was as stark as it was painful...but this question isn't about Fenris)
The most logical solution she could come up for to solve this problem was dilution. Maybe she couldn't forget that night because it was the first time. Therefore, she would just drown out the memories with a lot of other experiences and then, obviously, all of those confusing feelings would go away and she could have her friend back and everything would be just like it used to be.
So Maria spent a few weeks of focused experimentation at the Rose trying every sex act that sounded even remotely interesting. It was nice enough, interesting from an experiential perspective, but the sex never felt like what she'd had with Fenris. There was no emotional connection, and without that the whole experience remained somewhat academic.
She was working up to one-night stands when Leandra died, and after that it all seemed a bit pointless. Fenris was so present for her, especially after the fight with the Arishok, that she finally conceded that she was just going to have to live with being in unrequited love with him forever. At that point, I don't think she ever seriously considered casual sex again--though she did have suitors in the gap between acts 2 and 3.
Philia 5: What is their most fervent wish for their best friend(s)? How far would they go to make it happen?
Safety and happiness. Wen would even refrain from killing to make this happen c:
Joking aside, Alistair is her dearest friend. By the end of the Blight, he's family to her. I think her deepest wish for him is that he eventually can have a life that he chooses for herself. She is well aware that she's the reason this couldn't happen, but she didn't see any other choice at the time. She would gladly and easily assassinate the nobility to make his life earlier, but more importantly she would let them live for his peace of mind. She remains his closest confidante even at a distance even though it's really hard for her to act in that capacity. When he calls her to Denerim to act as an advisor for important meetings, she neither complains nor climbs out a window.
(Morrigan, who is her next closest friend...Wen is willing to let Morrigan go if it really makes her happy. At the end of Witch Hunt, it breaks her heart a little bit to say goodbye for good. I like to think they connected again later, after Morrigan came back to the material world with Kieran.)
Eros 5: How closely is their opinion of their own beauty (or lack thereof) linked to their confidence? Do they see themselves as more or less worthy of love or sex based on how attractive they feel?
I don't think Emma is especially preoccupied with her appearance in general. If she were to think about it, she would suppose she looks pretty enough, but then she'd move on to something more interesting. Her confidence is linked very strongly to her mind; her body is a secondary consideration most of the time. She does try to present a particular image, especially given her role as the Inquisitor, but I don't think her idea of self-worth is tied to her physical appearance at all.
But then, she is my absentminded professor OC and forgets she even has a body half the time when she's comfortable. The hardest times in her life are times where she is forced to feel herself intensely for long periods of time: after she is stabbed, when she loses her arm, the rough period in Kirkwall when she's going into Darktown several times a week and having to heal constantly.

I read the “Good omens 2 is bad on purpose” theory and while the author is annoying it does make sense! However I don’t think they’re aware that if it’s true it could only ever be the death/rebirth type set up for an End of Evangelion style “I Hate Every Single One Of You” ending

eyrie truly does kinda detest thancred at parts in ShB HUH
#i was doing some feeing out a thought writing and not Howdy eyrie is so….frustrated with him#I can look at all of the pieces of how it goes from player perspective but how he treats minifilia makes their skin crawl#how he so angrily places blame on her shoulders + his utter lack of talking to her about anything#the BROODING—it drives them bonkers how he broods and walks away from any conversation#mayhaps y’sthola shouldn’t have been so harsh when Minfilia was right there to hear it. no it was unfair to her#but he needed to hear that and hear it from her in her harsh manner#it drives eyrie up the wall to see her treated as such#they know thancred cares but it doesn’t mean anything if she doesnt know it#he lets his grief cloud so much of their relationship to where she feels as if he resents her#and it bothers eyrie so much#yes they have their own failings as a parent and they know full well how much they have not been there#that obligations and fears drove them away from many of their children before those children could remember them#but for their eldest chidlren they did get to watch grow up—god they would be devestated if they did not know how deeply eyrie loves them#they would be heartbroken if there was ever a shadow of doubt of how much eyrie loved them#are they projecting a bit? yeah definitely#but it’s so upsetting for them to see what is going on#especially when minifilia gravitates towards them#part is her admiration of them through stories and actions on the first#but they’re just so open and caring for her? part of their love for her is merely the Echo#but they still hold great affection for her and it’s heartbreaking that thancred refuses to treat her as such#jsjdjdkd im neck deep in my ShB replay and I’m just. sitting here in the weird sauce#this isn’t me being thancred critical or the like I get the arc that is happening with him#i understand it. sadly eyrie is trapped in the narrative without the foresight and narrative Context so they get to suffer#oc: eyrie kisne

ok sam is the narrator right. right. u definitely said that somewhere i’m not making that up. imagine me sticking a microphone and obnoxiously large camera in ur face while i ask this: do you have anything to say on sam and jackie’s relationship specifically in the sense of narrator vs person trying to escape the narrative. what does that look like
leans directly into the microphone. no comment
hgkldsahjkgld but no youre right sam IS the narrator and sam and jackies relationship is weird on SOOOOO many levels as a result. what it mostly looks like is a mess that ends up with jax dead and sam even more haunted than she was. lets go.
sam and jackie are parallels in one of the like. most literal senses of the word. like :
both take objectively selfish actions that cause huge amounts of destruction for personal gain (sam leaving her tower, jackie abandoning their universe). both of them justify this as necessary, on different axes (jackie justifies it on a very small and personal scale, sam says she's trying to save the world)
both of them have families that they love deeply, and are deeply motivated by the loss of. similarly, unlike almost anyone else in the story, both sam and jackie are taking actions to try to get their dead family back. jackie will actively acknowledge this and talk about it. sam refuses to acknowledge it even in her own fucking head
both of them are 'outsiders' to this specific universe. sam is a woman out of time, jackie is a person out of place. if you cant guess the pattern by now, they also react to this one in inverse ways - jackie does a lot of going 'wowwwww this shit is crazy lol haha' while sam mostly feels terrified, lonely, and deeply unsettled by seeing the world as it is now
both of them know that the end of the world is coming. and this is where the narrator/person escaping the narrative dynamic comes from: jackie just wants out before the end of the world. sam wants (or tells herself she wants, it's complicated) to save it. their respective roles come entirely from this difference in response. they also completely and utterly trap each other in these roles as a result of their inability to communicate/understand each other
so they already kind of hate each other because they're so similar and HATE seeing in the other what they see in themselves (ie. jackie being open about saving their family when sam is doing the same thing and wont admit it makes sam constantly livid) and then all of that completely comes to a head wrt their position about the apocalypse. they sorta argue for each others positions here, if that makes sense - sam, the narrator, knows that she is doomed but silently wants very, very badly to find a way out, which she is equipped to do AS A NARRATOR but WONT because she thinks shes doomed, while jackie, the character in the story being told, does everything they can to get out while knowing silently that they will never be able to, and makes sam worse as a result. and jackie only realizes that its sam that's the narrator, that it's sam that's the reason they can't get out, like AS sam is about to kill them. it sucks so bad.
the parts of s/n that aren't about grief or various communication breakdowns causing the apocalypse are about responsibility, and thats a LOT of what this mess of a relationship hinges on. jackie completely gives up their responsibility to the world they were in. sam, who has been motivated COMPLETELY by senses of obligation - to the world, to her job, to her family, to eric, the list goes on - sees this and is so fucking resentful of it (why can't SHE give up and go home, why cant SHE stop this stupid quest entirely when they can, it's not fair) that she genuinely and actually cannot allow jackie to live, which is what their final confrontation comes down to. sam kills jackie because she cannot imagine a world where someone (read: sam herself) can give up their responsibility like that and still be forgiven, and this is the EXACT SAME REASON she becomes the narrator at the end of the day. if her and jackie had been able to see eye to eye, if they had tried to understand each other, maybe sam would have realized that she could have been forgiven and would make a different choice at the end, but they can't because theyre the same and they hate each other for it. its so messy. it is so fucking messy
thank you for the DELICIOUS question bc i could literally talk about these two and their fucked up relationship and how it makes sam worse and makes her specifically look terrible for like. days.
