One Week from Today: Relive the Astor Place Theatre Riot!
Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at 5:30pm EDT
Once again, friend, Ralph Lewis, Bowery Booster and vital third of the conscientious triumvirate known as Peculiar Works Project is offering his gripping, minute by minute explication of the Astor Place Riots on their anniversary through the NY Adventure Club. May 10 is the anniversary of that that looney event, when nativist supporters of actor Edwin…
This past month, like the previous ones of 2023, I have been running on overdrive. Here are fragments of what kept me busy in April/May. Among them: the premier of Rhinoceros, 80 pages worth of comics translated into Polish and organised into 32 panels for the Romanian Cultural Institute in Kraków, Ceau Cinema's posters and...
a multifaceted project crammed online here: mestering.ro alongside Ioana Ciolea's photographs and Felix Petrescu's fine recordings of an interview series comprising local craftsmen, among them Mrs Rodica Obradov and Mr Dragoș Nuță.
And some images from the biennial through which we tried to share some of the lessons learned when death is around the corner. Plus pics with two of the few people to visit my grandma and our lab back in 2022: Alex Bodea and partner Luminița Rațiu.
What did you think of Plotnikova's recent Odette adagio? Do you think she will eventually debut and get promoted (or in opposite order)?
It surprises me that she's not already a Coryphee, that shouldn't take too long honestly. However, I can't see her getting that big of a debut anytime remotely soon. I don't think she's even had a secondary principal role, only smaller soloist parts? Throwing her O/O so soon seems like insanity to me.
Had to walk through the law department to get to my theatre class. Feels strange walking past classrooms where people are actually learning something useful to get to the place where I'll write silly plays.

The hard-hitting, poignant, but outrageously funny verbatim solo-show was created from Gregory’s own interviews with a Stonewall survivor (Michael-Anthony…
