I know this isn't a new thought at all, but how many people at CatCo do we think know Kara's secret? I'm not talking about the Nia/James/Cat/Winn people, but random others.
Does Ed the janitor sigh in frustration everytime he finds Kara's clothes ripped off in the middle of the hallway, only to fold them nicely and hide them behind the nearest plant? (Kara still hasn't quite caught on that they aren't landing there naturally when she throws them to the side)
Does Taylor in security casually loop footage and cut out the moments where Kara dramatically displays the House of El symbol?
Does Lindsay from accounting just so happen to sit across from a balcony Supergirl likes to use to fly in and out of, hidden enough that Kara doesnt think twice about what shes doing?
And Eric, from HR. He noticed that Kara's excessively late clock ins and very early clock outs lined up perfectly with Supergirl helping with massive fights and emergencies. He casually reroutes all the automated emails to Kara's bosses that should be reminding them to write her up.
Even bringing it outside of CatCo. Is there young a barista at Noonan's who always slips Kara an extra couple of sticky buns. Because she saw Kara become Supergirl in the alleyway behind the building one time, and Supergirl saved her sister during an alien attack. It's not much, but it's what a girl living off of tips can do, and saving the city must be hungry work.
The young couple living across the street from Kara's loft have seen her fly in the window carrying ridiculous amounts of takeout on so many late nights.
All these people, the normal citizens of National City. Connected by a secret they didn't mean to learn and would never tell, or even confront her about. They're all just content to keep the secret, and if Kara finds doughnuts on her desk after a particularly hard fight, or her favorite sweater that was discarded pre flight dry cleaned and delivered to her door? That'll just be their little way of saying thank you

Love and trust are two things that coexist. One cannot love without trust, and trust is followed by love of any form.
For Lena both of them were strangers, her mother and brother definetly weren't the lovely type, and all of her life she felt like trust was only given to be broken right after, resulting in the fortress of walls all around her.
Even when she felt like she could trust her best friend, it turned out she was hiding being Supergirl, and everyone around them knew, leaving the CEO out of the loop.
So, even after forgiving everyone, Lena will think twice before giving her trust to anyone else.
But Lena can't control who she falls in love with.
You moved to National City a few months ago. Gotham already had Batman and all his collegues, hence why you never used your powers; besides, it was way too gloom for you, so you decided a fresh start was for the best.
You realized you were right when the first day at your new apartment you were woken up by sun rays and not by police sirens.
You soon started working with Kara as the new superhero in town.
Everyone, especially Alex, were weary of you at first, but after a while of being nothing but helpful to them and the city they started to trust you.
One day you took you mask off and revelead you identity without expecting Kara to do the same, and that particular selfless action made her fully trust you, making her want to do the same.
And that's when you became a part of the superfriends.
A couple of weeks after meeting Lena you told her who you really were, even after Alex and Kara told you it wasn't necessary since she wasn't a part of the DEO; but, your words, you didin't want to lie to a potential friend.
That day the black haired woman smiled at you in a way so soft she never thought she was able to.
- - - -
"guys! Lena's here!"
You shouted as you opened the door to Kara's apartment, making room for the CEO to enter. "sorry I'm late, i had something to finish at work first" she meant to say to everyone, but her low tone made it possible only for you to hear.
"oh don't worry we were just chatting." you reassured her, helping her remove her coat, and unkowingly leaving a blush on her cheeks at the action.
"Kara tried to eat all the appetizers, but I hid some for you." you whispered, fully aware that the kryptonian could still hear you.
You two made your way to the living room where Winn and James where playfully arguing about something, Alex was preparing the table to make room for the next game, while Kara got up to greet her best friend.
Lena soon followed after you, sitting beside you. There were other seats available but you never seemed to mind it when the black haired woman chose to seat next to you, so it soon bacame a habit.
After all, it was easier to team up against everyone else.
You weren't as competitive as Lena during games, but you had a grit she really liked, and were much more skilled than she was.
That's pretty much how you two became friends. The first two weeks she kept to herself, she was never mean to you but she also never made an effort to deepen your connection.
But the moment you revealed your identity is when she started to be more open towards you, and slowly but surely the two of you became close friends, hanging out outsides of gamenights too.
"oh food's here" Kara chimed in at the sound of the doorbell, clearly hungry; and Alex groaned, needing to clear up the table yet again.
"I'll get it" Lena announced, starting to get up, but you stopped her with a gentle hand on her exposed thigh
"no I got it"
The kryptonian silently watched the interaction from her spot on the couch with a glint in her eyes, just like she watched any other interaction between the two of you. She knew Lena better than anyone, maybe even better than she knew herself. She knew how those smiles and those light touches became more than just friendly in the last couple of months, how everytime she asked if you were okay after a mission, Lena was much more worried that she ever let on.
And kara knew you had one of the purest and most honest souls she has ever known; you were the perfect choise for her best friend.
She swore to never interfere with your business, especially since she risked rushing and forcing things.
But, as she watched Lena laugh at something you said, she thought a little help never really hurt anyone.
- - - -
After a couple of hours, only you and Lena remained in Kara's apartment, helping her clean up. Alex had gone home since she had work early in the morning and James got a tipsy Winn home.
Lena was washing the dishes while you were sorting out all the board games in the living room and Kara was collecting the trash, "oh, by the way" Kara spoke, stopping the comfortable silence created between you three "how did you get here Lena?"
"oh I just called a taxi" she went silent for a second, turning the water off "I need to call one right now or it will be late"
"or, (Y/N) could take you" the blonde suggested, picking up a beer bottle off the floor near you, nudging your leg with it.
"uh?" you inquired raising your head from the cards you were supposed to put away, not really following their conversation.
"oh no don't worry, he should take a completely different route" Lena tried to argue, but sensing what they were talking about, you interrupted her.
"you didn't come with your car?"
"no she took a cab" Kara answered for her friend.
"oh then I can take you home, it's really not a problem" Lena, who still had her hands wet just smiled, nodding her head.
- - - -
The car ride was quiet, interrupted only by some light conversations here and there and the constant music coming out from the radio. Everytime Lena was in your car you she always refused to choose the music, claiming she liked listening to your music, it definetly wasn't for your relaxed side profile and the way you gently tapped your finger on the steering wheel.
"see? faster than a taxi and definetly cheaper" you joked as you parked your car in front of her house, making the woman next to you lightly chuckle.
"thank you, (Y/N)-" she started, but furrowed her eyebrows confused when she saw you quickly getting out of the car. She followed you with her eyes and smiled when you opened the car door for her.
"After you, my lady" you smiled, adding a little bow at the end.
"always the gentleman, I see" Lena complimented getting out of the car, now face to face with you.
"I had fun tonight" and for some reason, she wasn't thinking of the others.
"yea, me too" you shifted your weight from one foot to the other, the action bringing you closer to her.
"I'll see you soon?" she asked lowly, you two were so close there was no need to talk loudly.
"yea" you replied softly, not really being able to keep the conversation going.
The scientist pulled her hands out from the pockets of her jacket and wrapped them around your neck, bringing you in for a hug, and you reciprocated by wrapping yours around her waist. She disconnected from the hug that lasted a second too long, according to her rational judgment, and resumed talking
"good night, (Y/N). Drive safely"
"good night Lena, I will"
You made sure she closed the door behind her before driving off.
- - - -
A few days later Lena was in her office, working on her computer, when she suddenly felt a wind of air moving from the balcony all the way into the the room. "hello Kara" she greeted the hero, not moving her head from the computer.
"we need help"
her voice didn't sound so alarmed but the CEO shoot up to her feet anyway, just in time to hear you shout Kara's name and see you trip on the balcony, landing in front of them on your hands and knees.
"oh my god what happened?" she rushed to you, helping you to your feet
"you brought me to Lena?" you asked, recognizing the voice.
"you didn't know?"
Kara decided to interviene, clearing the puzzle for both of you "he's fine, he got sprayed with a pepper spray by a mugger, he will heal pretty soon but I though you might have something for the pain.
Feeling calmer, Lena recollected her thoughts, nodding.
"I know to expect bullets, not this" you spoke up again, rubbing your eyes, while your other hand held your mask.
You were, however, instantly stopped by Lena's hand on yours. "don't touch it, it'll only be worse. Put your mask back on, I'll take you to my lab."
She didn't let go of you, now wrapping her fingers around your wrist and got you out of her office. You were able to see lights and shadows but a little guidance didn't hurt. And to anyone asking, and herself, Lena would justify the not so professional touch the same way.
As soon as you two reached the lab, she lead you to a chair, while she grabbed what she needed.
"I'm sorry i literally crushed into your office, I could have handled it on my own too." you said, taking off your mask, knowing you were the only two in the room.
"oh I'm happy to help" she spoke from the other side of the room "and if by handling it on your own, you mean rubbing it like you did before, then I'm very happy you came to me" she teased, and by the way her voice got louder you'd guess she was standing in front of you.
"now open your eyes, and try to keep them open" you tried doing what she said, but closed them right after with a groan.
"it'll just be a second, come on" she got closer to you, now being in between your legs, and put a hand on your forehead.
When you opened your eyes again, you saw a small bottle in her free hand. This time you closed your eyes only when a drop of the liquid touched your sclera, but Lena seemed content with it. "oh it's cold" you commented, the constract in temperature already acting as a relief.
"see? it was just a second. Open the other one now."
After doing the same to the other eye, she put the bottle aside, wiping some tears gathered on your cheecks and at the pool of your eyes, while you kept them closed for a bit more, enjoying the now cool sensation.
Even with your eyes closed you could feel the closeness, how one of her tight was touching yours and how her breath touched your skin from time to time; it took everything in you to keep your hands locked on the top of your knees, and not put them around her waist.
Everytime you were in one of these situations. you couldn't help but think that Lena was holding back from doing something. It couldn't be that she didn't know if you liked her? You think everyone around you knows, whether you told them or they just figured it out.
For a long time you thought this was just her being friendly, despite all the times Kara told you you were the only person she acted so touchy and even vulnerable with, her being aware of it ot not.
So, given she actually likes you back, it must be something else.
You don't know a lot about her past since she rarely talks about it, you only knew the basics but you definetly knew about the walls she hardly lets anyone through.
But for whatever reason she might be holding back,
"are you feeling a bit better?"
you will wait for her to be ready,
"much better, thank you" you re-opened your eyes and she was indeed very close to you.
"great, i'm glad" you swore she glaced at your lips, before straightening her back and taking a step back. "let's get back to Kara, she must be worried"
You followed her back to her office, and found Kara sitting on Lena's chair, spinning around.
"yea, worried" you teased making Lena roll her eyes.
"oh! how are you feeling?" asked the kryptonian, raising from the chair. She had a light blush on her cheeks probably due to getting caught messing around.
"better, not thanks to you" you replied, making her gasp, pointing a finger at herself
"I brought you here"
You ignored her defence, turning back to the scientist "thank you again, I'll see you around?"
At her nod you started going back to the balcony, then threw a confused look at the blonde when you noticed she wasn't following you.
"you go on ahead, I want to talk to Lena first" by the look on the woman's face, she didn't know about it either.
"okay, have fun" you smiled at the two, flying away.
- - - -
"good, you're here" Alex sighed as soon as you and Kara entered the main room of the DEO, already in your supersuit.
"what's going on Alex?" asked her sister.
"a group of aliens just escaped Metropolis' prison, last time they were out they tried getting everyone with any sort of power so they could trade them for their boss, but Superman stopped them"
"and now they're onto us" John finished
"how do you know they're not trying it again in Metropolis, or somewhere else?" Kara asked and this time Winn answered, putting pictures and a map of the city on the big screen.
"they installed a chip in every alien's suit so they could track them in case of escape. Very useful for shapeshifters and aliens who can become invisible."
"that's smart" Supergirl furrowed her brows "why don't we have that?" she turned to John, who didin't seem thrilled by the idea
"it's smart, unless they simply decide to take off their clothes."
Next to Kara, you were only half listening to the debate, a disturbing thought forming in your head "I don't care about that" you interrupted "where are they going Winn?"
"it looks like they parted ways, they're headed to-" the images switched and you instantly recognized the building.
"they're going to Lena" you felt your blood freezing in you veins "I have to go" and without another word, you were off
"Superman is containing the outbreak in Metropolis so it's up to us." Alex explained, normally she would have scolded you for going on your own before knowing the plan, but this was actually a matter of time, so she let you go.
She also knew how worried you were.
"Kara you go to CatCo, while we'll take the smaller groups, they only care about their goal, so get Cat somewhere safe and trap the aliens somewhere. Then call us, and we'll take them back to Metropolis"
And with that, Kara flew out the window, telling you the plan through your earpiece.
- - - -
"okay got it, get Lena safe, trap the aliens, move on" you repeated, removing your hand from your ear.
You broke the window on your way in, you figured she could just get it fixed, not that you were worried about that.
Lena wasn't in her office but they couldn't have gotten to her, according to Winn, they were three minutes away, and you took way less than that to get here.
You ran out of the room, getting to her lab.
You found her sitting in one of the chairs, looking at who knows what. The sound of the door opening made her raise her head, but the smile reserved just for you slowly vanished, taking in your tense stance. Even with your mask on she could read you.
"what's wrong? are you hurt?"
"follow me, there's no time" you heard Winn through the earpiece warning you "please, I'll explain later"
Your voice confermed her suspicions, and she got out of the room with you.
"we need to be quick" you grabbed her hand "we'll take the stairs"
As you run up the stairs you could hear the doors to the building breaking open and people starting to scream, making Lena slighlty jump in fear.
"don't worry, they have no interest in your employees, they just want you." you tired to reassure her, but it didn't seem to work since she stopped moving completely
"who's they? what's going on (Y/N)?"
"we have to run Lena" you pleaded almost desperately.
This really wasn't the time to talk and she didin't seem to understand, so you put a hand around her waist and the other under her knees, and started running with her in your arms.
You tried to briefly explain their intention and your plan, shielding her with your body every time you slammed a door open.
"and I'd do anything to stop it"
Kara confirmed they couldn't fly, so you just had to trap them on the roof and get Lena somewhere safe.
You only let her down when you reached the edge of the roof, and you could hear them quickly approaching.
You didn't let go of her waist yet, thinking she might get scared and fall.
"do you trust me?"
Thanks to the closeness of your bodies, she could catch a glimpse of your eyes, and she could see they were full of fondness and sincerity.
All things Lena always saw when she looked into your eyes.
She let her gaze fall to the ground, then back to you, before nodding.
"I do"
You nodded back, and Lena swore she could feel you smile.
"great" you got off the edge when the aliens broke the door "then jump when I tell you to"
You tried with all your strength to keep them from getting to her, while also trying to seal the door shut.
They weren't a lot but they were fast and agile, which made it hard for you to keep up.
As soon as you sealed the door shut you heard Lena shout your name, only to see two of them getting closer and closer to her.The distraction got you a punch in the gut, making you fall to the ground; consequencently giving them the upper hand.
Your scream came out muffled, but the woman was still able to hear it.
"jump Lena, now!"
Lena looked at the ground once again, the aliens were getting closer but the others held you down, making it impossible for you to move.
Taking another hit to the jaw, you yelled again.
"please, you have to trust me!"
And without a second thought she was in the air.
She tried looking up, waiting for you to come save her, but all she could see was the fast approaching asphalt so she closed her eyes,
Her arms came to her face, a vain attempt at protecting herself.
The next thing she knew, she was on the ground, but she was on her feet while her waist was once again held by your hands; while hers were unconsciously gripping onto your biceps for dear life.
"how did you-"
She tried to speak but her heart was still pumping in her head for the near death experience.
"I told you, they only care about you. They run up to the edge as soon as they saw you jump"
Being in a closed off parking lot, you were able to take off your mask, in an attempt to calm her down.
and it seemed to have worked, but you sensed she had something else to ask, so you spared her the effort.
"I would have never told you to jump unless I was totally sure it would work."
With a little smile, you took one of your hands off her waist to reach Alex through the earpiece.
"Alex there's six of them, they're stuck on the roof of Lena's building"
Putting your hands to rest along your side, the black haired woman almost wished you put them back on her waist.
"get home as soon as you can, it's still not safe for you out here. I have to go"
"please be safe" she whispered, nearly pleaded, her eyes focused on the bruise already forming on your jaw.
"and come back in one piece."
With a job like yours you could never promise something like that, it was a dangerous game where one false step could get you killed, and you both knew that.
But with the way she was looking at you, with her eyebrows forrowed together and her mouth slightly agape, and the way her hands moved to hold your wrists; she made you want go fight death herself and win, just to come back to her.
"I will, I promise."
- - - -
It was a few hours later, since getting back home Lena had her eyes glued to the news playing on the screen, like they always were when she knew you were on a mission.
After the boring news of a soccer player winning a title the woman couldn't be bothered to remember the name of, you and Kara finally apperead on the screen, busy escorting some aliens in a black van she presumed belonged to the DEO, as the reporter provided an upgrade on the situation.
"this imagines were of almost two hours ago, so we can safely assume all the culprits are now back in Metropolis' prison, all thanks to Supergirl and (Y/S/N)" concluded the man, and Lena turned off the tv.
She could finally feel herself relax, sitting on the couch. And although she felt a bit bad you didin't text her to tell her you were okay, she understood you were probably tired and wanted to freshen up a bit.
She also debated texting you, or calling you, but at the last second she decided not to, wanting to avoid waking you up in case you fell asleep. It wouldn't be the first time it had happened, as soon as a mission ended Kara needed to eat to regain her streght, while you prefered a good three hours minimun nap.
But not this time apparently.
As soon as she put the phone down, she heard a knock on the door. Quickly getting up to open it, already knowing who was on the other side.
"I don't know if you had dinner yet, but i'm starving" you said, holding the bag of takeout in your hand.
"hi" she replied softy, not taking her eyes off your face.
"come in" she shook her head after a while, making room for you to enter.
"uh no I didn't eat anything" she answered your question from before, watching you get settled on the couch, after hanging your coat at the entrance.
The scene alone felt so domestic that it brought a smile to the woman's face.
"what do you want to drink?" she asked, heading to the kitchen
"whatever you're having" but you were too focused on setting up the table, and Lena knew this, or you wouldn't have answered like that.
So she repeated the question. This time you registered her words "mhh I'm fine with anything, as long as it's not wine"
She smirked, whispering a "that's more like it" leaving you confused at her remark, as she went to get a bottle of wine for herself, and a bottle of soda for you.
- - - -
While eating you decided to put on a random movie, it was meant to act just as a background noise, but you were actually getting interested in it, considering there wasn't much noise coming from the woman sitting next to you.
That's because she was looking at your side profile. She tried watching the movie, but she soon found out she preferred the way the movie played on your face, with the light shining on your skin, enlightening your features.
From the tip of your nose to your cheekbones, from the lips Lena swore never looked so soft, all the way down to-
"(Y/N)"
She called, but your hum of acknowledgement didn't satisfy her.
"(Y/N), look at me" she tried again, but her tone never lost it's sweetness.
"mh?" this time you turned your head to face her, the movie long forgotten when she gently grabbed your jaw.
"the bruise" she stared, moving her fingers along the skin, trying to find it
"it disappeared"
"it healed" you whispered. And thank God you didn't want to say anything else because you lost all the air in your lungs when her eyes met yours.
"did you get hurt anywhere else?"
She moved her free hand to rest on top of the couch, letting her head lay on it. You adjusted your positions too, hoping she wouldn't pull away when the motion brought you invitably close, with her legs now trapped between your arms.
She didn't.
"nothing more than small bruises" she could feel your throat moving as you talked.
"you asked me to jump off of a building today" she informed you with a small smile, as if you didn't know.
"and without any protection"
Not catching the playfulness in her tone, you let a frown appear on your face.
"I never would have let you jump if i wasn't sure-" you tried reassuring her but she stopped you, whether it was intentional or not, when she moved her hand to the back of your neck, fingers playing with your hair.
"I know (Y/N), I know. It was my decision to trust you"
"thank you for trusting me then" it was all you could muster up at this point, not really knowing where she was going with it.
"thank you for never giving me a reason not to"
Silence fell on the two of you, the way Lena was looking at you, how her gaze flickered from your eyes to your lips; with her fingers tracing figures on your scalp and the way her bottom lip was caught between her theet made it impossible for you to think, let alone talk.
On the other side of the room, there wasn't a single part of Lena's brain that wasn't screaming at her to do something. She could feel your arms touching her thighs, and you looked at her like nothing else in the world mattered right now. And for you it didn't.
You clearly wanted this as much as she did, and she always noticed. Lena was one of the smartest people you knew, so she definitely wasn't oblivious to the way you always held yourself back when the moment got to heated, and she could tell it was for her sake.
And this fact alone tipped her over the edge. She already trusted you with her life, it was time to trust you with her heart.
The hand on the back of your neck tightened it's grip, forcing you down to meet soft lips.
Not that you were complaining.
The kiss was urgent, telling you just how much she has been wanting this.
You could taste the wine she had drunk a few hours ago and wondered if it had always tasted this good.
Her other hand came to rest on your cheek, bringing you impossibly closer.
You put your hand on her waist, thriving at the sound of surprise she let out.
The kisses got more soft and kind as they subsided, and it was Lena who made the first move, pulling away from you.
Shily smiling at the sight of you blindly following her lips.
You opened your eyes to find her already looking at you, with one of her hand coming to your chest to gently stop you.
There were a few seconds of silence between the two of you, you were fairly without words, the only thought occupying your head was the kiss you just had and Lena herself.
The scientist, once again, had so much to say and little courage to do so; strangely, the person who made her feel the safest also made her nervous as hell.
"you kissed me"
You spoke up, the hand on her waist twitching as if you didn't think it really happened.
She bursted out laughing, feeling at ease again.
"I did. And you kissed me back" she whispered
"I did" you repeated, a huge smile taking over your face. "can I do it again? can I kiss you?"
You slowly leaned back in, giving her time to pull away, and Lena can't believe it took her this long to do it.
You scooted closer to her during the kiss, and Lena moved her legs on top of yours, making it easier for you.
Your hand fiddled with the hem of her shirt, sneaking your fingers under it, You didin't want to do anything more than just kissing, at least not tonight, but it was nice feeling her skin against your fingertips.
She was once again the frst one to pull away. As much as she wanted to keep kissing you, god she couldn't get enough of your lips already, she wanted to talk to you.
"stop with the kissing now pretty boy" she said affectionately, the pet name spreading warm all the way to your chest.
It took her a moment to gather her thoughts, around the same time it took you to pay attention to her words.
"I've liked you for quite a while now" she started, and you straightened your posture, adjusting your hand to lay now on her knee "and I think I've always known that, I just couldn't find it in myself to trsut you enough for that"
You slightly nodded at her words to show you were paying attention "you can trust me on everything" you breathed out and lowered your head when you felt her playing with the button of your blouse.
"I realize that" she bit her bottom lip "you know, Kara also had a part in this" she said after a bit, changing subject.
You tilted your head, confused "she did?"
"the day you got sprayed in the eyes-" the woman let out a little laugh at your groan "Kara stayed back to give me a wingwoman sort of speech. Saying things like 'he's a good person' or 'it's clear that you like him too'" She moved her hand around, remembering her friend's words.
"I should thank her then" you answered, but made no move to reach for your phone
you got closer once again "but not right now, I have other things to do" and she accepted your lips on hers without hesitation.

Powergirl Should Die
Supergirl. Powergirl. B!D. Kara Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Alex Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Lena Luthor, Winn Schott.
Word Count: 2550.
Porwergirl should die. Someone should kill her.
The suit is skin tight, it clings so forcefully onto you as if it's trying to become part of you. But this other skin, just simply doesn’t fit right over your bones.
There is a huge House of El crest over your chest, in its golden glory. It weighs down on your skin, heavy and sacred. It should help you feel at ease. It doesn’t. It feels like it’s burning your skin like a branding iron.
Kryptonian?
Yes.
Super powers?
Yes.
You’re a superhero. Next, please!
Kara stands tall next to you, hand on your shoulder. “Would you look at that,” your sister smiles brightly at you. “Mother and father would be so proud of you, mini me.”
Kara has called you that your whole life, but you never felt so little as you do right now. You've also never felt so much like Kara. Crumpled up inside this supersuit to fit someone else’s dream. You don’t think your parents would be very proud of you now.
“Kara, this feels odd.” You try to lift the suit from your skin, that is so snuggled up it barely leaves you room to breathe. “I-I look like you.”
“I know!” She proudly squeaks. “I asked Winn to only change the colors. How do you feel about the white, red and blue?”
“Like a walking American flag.” You wince at the thought. You like the white, it’s a little more sober than the blue in Kara's suit, it also reminds you of the vest you used to wear back in Krypton. The red cape feels like they've ripped a piece of Kara’s and placed it on your back. The high blue boots are uncomfortable and the matching gloves are just plain stupid.
“You certainly don’t look like one.” Alex chimes in from behind you, and you turn around, sick of the sight of you in the mirror. “Honestly sis, I like this suit. I think it might be even better than Kara’s.”
“I wouldn’t go that far, mine has history.”
“Yours is a copy of Superman’s.”
“That’s what I mean, history.”
You watch your sister’s bickering with faint attention because they both would never say how ridiculous you look with this dull, hideous, comical outfit.
But it didn’t matter how foolish you looked, or how stupid you felt. There was no way out of this. Kara said you looked perfect and Alex agreed. J’onn, who’s been the closest thing to a father to you on this planet, gave you a stiff smile when asked what he thought. He could read your mind, remember? That’s what he thought about it. And Winn was just over the moon with his creation. No way out. From that day on, you’re Powergirl.
It hasn’t been long since you started being Powergirl. You’re still not the most prominent face of the Supers, thank God for that. You do the easy jobs while Kara takes on the real bad guys. You follow her lead. Obey to what Alex tells you to do over the comm that is permanently stuck in your ear. As if you couldn’t hear her from miles and miles away.
But with every passing day, it becomes even more obvious to you that you were really not cut out for this superhero life. Not good at it. Not happy with it. Not fit for it.
The very opposite of Kara, actually. Because Kara fits everywhere and with everyone. She fits perfectly in her suit, with her alias. Perfectly at her job at CatCo, as a news reporter. And ever since she landed on Earth she created her perfect family, story, life on this planet.
You, on the other hand, wish everyday you were still at Krypton. You are well aware that if you stayed behind, that if your parents hadn't made Kara snuggle your smaller form against her own body on that pod, you would have exploded. You wouldn't be alive today. And you wish people knew you don't want to be dead, you just wish your planet hadn't exploded in the first place.
Sure Kara feels the same. Yet she makes a name for herself and gives back to this planet that took you both in so willingly, that gave you both powers because of its sun. Kara is just different.
"Mother would want us to use our powers for good." She would whisper to you in the dark, whenever the Danvers would tell you to not use your powers. Whenever they asked you to fit in completely. "Father spent so much time trying to stop our planet from deteriorating, don't you think that if he had powers he would use them to make that happen?"
She would ask you questions that didn't feel like questions. That required no answers at all. Kara would tell you what she knew about them, use them as arguments to explain to you (convince even) why you had to become a superhero too.
And you would lay there in the dark, after your sister was asleep, looking at the long dead stars, and wondering whether she was right. Whether that was your parents' plans all along or just a sad coincidence.
"Powergirl." You hear Kara's voice early in the morning while you're still trying to brew yourself a cup of coffee. "I need you for a second."
"It's too early in the morning and I have to get ready for work." You press on your comm to answer. "Can't you deal with it alone?"
"Hm, no. I need you to come here now."
You let out a huge sigh, trying to ease your own mind. Coffee will wait, you guess. You're out of your pj's, into your suit, and out of the house in a blur. You stop next to Kara while she stares at a billboard.
"What?" You can't help the harshness of your tone as you see no emergency around her.
Kara says nothing. Only points at the billboard and you finally take note of it. Written in large red colors, the sentence: Powergirl should die.
Huh.
"It seems that you have an enemy." Kara says when time enough has passed for you to read the sentence over a few times. "Don't worry, we'll catch them."
Cute. It's your first thought. It's almost like someone wrote you a love letter, au contraire.
Kara makes an effort to tear it all down, destroy the billboard before anyone sees it. You don't help her, stuck inside your own mind, replaying the words in your head.
"No need to worry." She assures you, hand on your shoulder to get you out of your trance. "No one will do you any harm, mini me. I'd never let anyone hurt you."
"Thanks, Kar." You look at your watch on your wrist. "Work calls." And so you fly home.
You try to lodge that sentence in the back of your mind. You don't wanna seem stressed out, even though you are. But showing how actually worried you are about it, and with the fact that someone is coming for you, it's inconceivable.
Kara would worry. Alex would stress. Ooof, you can see it all playing out. Sleepovers and excuses for you to miss work and hang at the DEO headquarters so they can keep an eye on you, until you're feeling suffocated.
No, no. You can't go through that. It's been a while since you and your sisters shared a bedroom. You don't think you three can do that again now that you're grown ups.
It happens again. You don't see it, but you hear the agents commenting about it, a couple days later. They get muted the second you fly in the DEO, which is not only annoying but foolish. You do have super hearing after all.
"So, where was it this time?" You ask Alex, while she tries to avoid looking at you.
"Where's what?" She tries, and you furrow your brows.
"Winn, put it on the monitor." You ask coming closer. Winn looks at Alex as if asking for permission, but you don't give her time to deny him. "Come on, I heard the agents. I'm still Kryptonian even if I'm not a Super."
Winn huffs. "On the tallest building of National City." The photo goes up on the large TV in front of you, and you swallow deep.
Powergirl should die.
"Y/N," Alex talks in a low tone so the agents around can't hear her. "it's not personal."
"Looks personal." You cross your arms, turning your back at the TV. "Someone wanting me dead sounds like it's as personal as it can get."
"Supergirl is looking into it, I promise we'll catch whoever did this."
"Alex, please." You pass her on your way to the training room. "You know damn well my favorite thing about you is that you don't lie."
"You've lost too many punching bags." You hear a voice behind your back, and you breathe deep before turning around.
"Just training a little." You look at the number of destroyed bags by your feet and decide that it's true, there's too many, even though that's what they're here for.
"Alex told me about the message." Kara approaches you slowly, trying to test the territory. She can see your distress, but doesn't know the extent of it. And she won't, because you're definitely going to fake it.
"Yeah, tall building. They got the writing off quickly, though. So no major problems."
"Honey," Kara's voice is even sweeter now, if that's possible. "I'll catch them. I'll be patrolling tonight. No one's coming for you."
"I'm not worried." You smile at your lie, or half of lie for what it's worth. Knowing that Kara will be patrolling the city helps. You know your sister would never let anything bad happen to you. And it's very unlikely that anyone on this planet could easily defeat two Kryptonians.
Kara also smiles, and brings you into her arms for a hug. And you breathe out, calmer. Kara's arms have kept you safe from many perils. Spaceship lost in space, new planet, new school, new job. Surely she can keep you safe again.
You don't feel safe, though, when you wake up to a familiar voice far away. You rub the sleep from your eyes, well awake, paying close attention to a conversation you weren't invited to be a part of.
"Alex, I went around the city, there's no new wri-"
"Kara? What was that?"
There it was, in big red letters the sentence that has been haunting you for days. Powergirl should die. And under it new words' been added, someone should kill her.
"I found new writing." Kara's voice comes a second later. "It's worse this time."
"Take a picture so we can compare the handwriting and get back here."
"I have to clean this up." But before Kara even has the chance to, you're flying next to her in front of the L Corp building. "Y/N! What are you doing here?"
You move closer to the building to investigate. The ink is still wet, it wasn't done too long ago. You look around trying to find cameras. It's Lena's building, you're sure there are cameras everywhere. You spot one with a direct view.
"Mini me-" Kara tries.
"Go to work Supergirl, I'll deal with this. Someone wanting me dead is my problem." It's always been your problem, you are aware. But Kara promised you, you had nothing to worry about. Promised she would patrol the city. Promised she would protect you. And yet, here it is, in big block red letters.
"But-"
"I got it, Kara. Can you just believe in me?"
"Y/N, you know I do. I just wanna help."
"I don't need help." You clench your jaw, tired of being treated like a little girl. Like a mini Kara instead of your own person. "I'm Kryptonian too."
Cheap shot? Maybe. Definitely. You throw it, anyway.
You clean the writing then fly home to suit up. You can't face Lena without it. Another secret that only makes you hate your secret identity as hard. Lying to your friends, sneaking out, it's all stressing and there's literally no reward high enough worth of all this.
"Lena."
"Oh shit." Lena's hand goes to her chest after her obvious scare. You can hear her heart almost beating out of her chest. "It's too early for bad news, Powergirl."
"Trust me, I agree with that." You breathe out, trying to give her a smile. It comes out flat. "I was wondering if I could look into one of your surveillance cameras. There was some writing on this building this morning, I would very much like to know who's responsible."
"Writing? I - I didn't see anything when I came in."
"Good. I cleaned it as fast as possible." You point at her computer and she breathes deep as if she is agreeing with you.
It doesn't take long for the images to be up, and you two to be carefully reversing the filming until Lena sees you and Kara flying in front of it, and read the words herself. She looks up to you and quirks up an eyebrow, in question.
"Currently unsure if someone is threatening me or if this is just general knowledge being passed on."
"People don't want you dead, you're a superhero!" Lena argues. "Maybe Lex, but he's currently serving his time."
"Clearly not everyone agrees with you." You point back at the words on her computer.
"It's awful." She admits, even though she doesn't fully trust you or Kara yet. "Wait, wait. There."
You can't see a thing. One minute is there, the other isn't. You slow down the images, trying to see any detail. Lena soon takes over and slows down as much as she can. That's when you see it, just a tiny flash of red. You hold your breath. Thankfully, Lena hasn't noticed it.
"How's this possible? There's no one."
"Seems that I'll have to patrol the city myself tonight." You're almost leaving Lena's office when you turn around one more time. "Thank you for your help, Ms. Luthor."
"I was barely of any help at all." Lena points at the computer as proof and you give her a smile.
"Au contraire, darling. You showed me everything I needed to see." You wink at her, then fly out.
You march inside the DEO, positive on your plan. No one is talking you out of it, that's for sure.
Winn tries to argue that it is illogical for you to just give yourself to your enemy. He gets ignored. Alex argues that as a DEO agent she can't let you do this, and as your older sister she would be insane to leave you alone in this situation. You don't budge. Kara pulls out the big guns, her promise to mother and father, her duty as your protector, how you're the only connection she still has with Krypton, her love for you and so on. Her cries fall on deaf ears.
So at night, you fly around National City watching and studying everyone in it, even though you know you should only be looking for one person. One person with superspeed, a red cape and a big motive.

Kara Danvers x Reader (Gender-Neutral)
Request - Can I request fluff for Supergirl Kara Danvers x Reader who is a Saiyan like from Dragon Ball; and how they bond over how similar and different they are? Like how Krypton was once seen as a shining beacon for the galaxy, while the Saiyans were fearing across the galaxy as being planet conquering savages. Kryptonians focused more on furthering science and exploration, while the Saiyan loved nothing more than combat and getting stronger.
Tumblr media
You are training with Kara, usually like training with your best friend. But she knew something was wrong and she stopped.
“What’s wrong, Y/n?” Kara asked.
“I just miss my home planet,” You said.
You sit on the ground and she sits next to you.
“There are times I feel like that. I miss my old home and everyone that I used to know” Kara said.
“How do you keep going?” You asked.
“It can be hard sometimes. I wonder what if it didn't happen, would I have met Alex and my friends differently? There are a lot of what-ifs, but you are not alone and you shouldn't bottle up all the time. If you want to talk about it, I'm here for you” Kara said.
“You are like that green alien the small one, because you always know what to say” You smiled.
“You mean Yoda” Kara laughed.
“I don't think that's his name. But, I miss everyone so much” You said.
Kara puts her arms around you for comfort. You and Kara stood up and went back to training. You went Super Saiyan and you smirked at Kara.
“Just because you can change your hair color, doesn't mean I'm scared,” Kara said.
“I don't expect you to be scared,” You said.
You start to fight with Kara. Your punches are going faster but Kara starts to catch up and she blocks your punches. But you and Kare keep going, you use telekinesis to move a boulder to hit Kara. But she used her heat vision to destroy the boulder.
“That’s all you can do?” Kara asked.
“Nice, thinking on your feet” You smirked.
You moved back then you got into form, then your power starts to from Destructo Disc. A razor-sharp disc of golden ki that can slice through almost any substance.
“I really hate that move,” Kara sighed.
She starts to dodge your attacks now you start to go faster.
You and Kara trained for hours, but you two are not tired. But back at the deo, Lena and Winn were explaining something but you got confused. Because the conversation was about science you pretended to know the topic. But you made no sense but Kara knew, and you tried to pretend again.
✯ ✯ ✯ ✬
You went to Kara’s apartment and you gave her a bag. A little while ago, you and Kara stopped Lex’s robots and Kara got hurt.
“What is this?” Kara asked.
“They are called Senzu Beans, which helps us Saiyans heal faster during battles. Try it and you will feel it” You smiled.
“I never heard of Senzu beans before,” Kara said.
She ate two senzu beans and she can feel her body healing fast.
“Wow, Y/n! These beans are like magic. I feel much better” Kara smiled.
“See! Since you are feeling better… maybe we can get something to eat?” You said shyly.
“Yes, we can and I will call Alex,” Kara said.
“Keep the bag in case you need it” You smiled.
She hugged you and you hugged her back. You and Kara met Alex at a restaurant and you always order a lot of food.
———
You are training with Alex and Kara but you try to be careful with Alex. You don't want to hurt her so you hold your powers back. Alex teaches you how to fight without your powers.
“Y/n, we are going to have a game night at my place you should join us,” Kara said.
“I like that idea,” You said.
Kara used her super strength to throw a car at you, but you moved out of the way by using teleportation. Now, Kara and Alex start to attack at the same time but you block their attacks.
——
You like game nights with them. You are always having fun and there are always snacks. You always try to beat Alex in each board game, because sometimes she is on a winning streak
✯ ✯ ✯ ✬
It's Halloween night, and you and Kara have on costumes. Kara wants you to experience trick or treat, and you quickly say yes. You are dressed as a pirate and Kara is dressed as a vampire. You and Kara are also taking Alex’s daughter to get candy. Your bag is halfway full
“Wow, people on Halloween are very nice,” You said.
“I think we have enough candies and we should go home,” Kara said.
“Please can we get more candies?” You begged.
You give her the puppy eyes and she tries not to give in.
“Fine! Let's get more candy” Kara said.
You smiled then you wrapped your arms around her and picked her up.
“Y/n, Y/n put me down,” Kara said.
“You are the best friend ever!” You yelled.
You gently put her down. She did keep he promise and you got more candy, then went home with her. You start to eat half of the bag then Kara takes it away, so you can save some for tomorrow.

Vigilante
“This is the third Cadmus associate this month,” Alex says, frowning as she looks at the screen in front of her.
“I know.”
Kara is standing next to her sister. They’re reading the police report that Maggie sent over. It’s the third time someone has handcuffed a known member of Cadmus to a police cruiser while the patrol officers were inside a coffee shop on their break. The first two had already been on the DEO’s radar, but the third person’s connection to the terrorist group was unclear until Winn did some more digging and found a financial link.
“Clearly, someone has better intel than we do.”
Alex is unhappy about it. Sure, it’s good to get these guys off the streets, and without using any DEO resources to boot, but Kara knows her sister doesn’t like being in the dark about who might be behind these citizen arrests.
Kara bumps her shoulder against Alex. “We’ll get to the bottom of it. I promise.”
Alex nods but doesn’t look convinced.
The tension at the DEO spikes a couple of weeks later when not one but two people are found, this time handcuffed to NCPD’s front doors. Winn tries to find footage of the moment it happened from nearby security cameras, but he has to tell Alex that the cameras were not only disabled but any view of the front door area would have been obscured by a cloaking device he retrieved from a small ledge on the building itself.
“Clearly, whoever is doing this is not only way ahead of us, but they know their way around technology the DEO hasn’t even heard of yet.”
Alex is frustrated, and J’onn is concerned.
“We don’t know what Cadmus will do now that someone is picking off their members one by one,” he says. “It’s a provocation. They could retaliate.”
Kara agrees. Whoever is doing this is playing with fire. She’s worried about the city, worried that Cadmus might unleash one of their signature large-scale attacks in order to scare off this vigilante. She knows what Cadmus is capable of. Kara shudders as she remembers her last encounter with them, when she was kidnapped and forced by Lillian Luthor to blow out her powers and then had her blood drawn against her will.
She’s also worried about Lena.
Kara knows from past interactions that anytime Cadmus strikes, Lena is usually in the crosshairs somehow. Either as bait, or as a human shield, or simply because Lena is nearby, trying to foil her mother’s latest plans to do harm. She decides to pay Lena a visit to warn her.
When she lands on Lena’s balcony at L-Corp, she finds her hunched over at her desk. Kara can see the tense set to her shoulders, and when Lena turns around to greet her, it’s clear that she’s tired, like she hasn’t slept properly in weeks.
“Supergirl, to what do I owe the visit?”
Kara wants to ask how she’s doing, why she’s still at the office this late, wants to drag her home, cook her a real meal and force her to sleep. But she’s here on official business, not as a friend.
“I’m here to give you a heads up that Cadmus might be planning something.”
Lena tilts her head to the side, eyebrow raised. “Oh really? And what might that be?”
“We don’t know for sure. We just know that someone has been undermining the organization for weeks, making sure members have been arrested. We think Cadmus is going to retaliate soon.”
“I see,” Lena says, but she turns around and walks over to the small bar in her office and pours herself a drink. “And why are you telling me this, Supergirl? Do you think I know what my mother might be up to? That I’m involved somehow?”
When Lena turns around to face her, her gaze is hard and piercing.
“No,” Kara holds up her hands, palms out. “Not at all. I just, I’m worried. They’re dangerous and you’ve been hurt by them before.”
Lena’s features soften. “So have you.”
“I know, but I’m, well, I can take care of myself. I just wanted to tell you to be careful.”
Lena nods, but turns back to her desk. “I’ll take that under advisement. Is that all?”
Kara swallows. “Yes. That’s all.”
“Alright. Thank you for the heads up, Supergirl.”
The visit leaves a bad taste in Kara’s mouth. Something about how closed off Lena seemed doesn’t sit right. Over the next few days, she decides to keep an eye on her, and it’s during one of those unscheduled patrols when she hones in on Lena’s heartbeat. It’s too fast, too full of panic. Kara follows the sound in a flash and finds her in an empty warehouse near the port. Or at least Kara thinks it’s Lena, because the figure in front of her looks nothing like the Lena Luthor she knows. She’s clad black tactical gear, a mask obscuring her face, and she’s currently engaged in honest-to-god hand-to-hand combat with none other than Lillian Luthor.
Kara lands in the warehouse and her arrival throws Lena off. She turns toward the noise and Lillian takes advantage: she grabs a metal pipe from a nearby table and swings it at Lena’s head. The hit sends Lena stumbling backwards, and that’s when Kara puts an end to the scene playing out in front of her. Using her super speed, she incapacitates Lillian and calls Alex for backup.
Then she rushes over to Lena, who has taken off her mask and is hunched over and a little unsteady. Kara holds her up with a firm hand against Lena’s elbow and forearm.
“You. It’s been you all along.”
Lena doesn’t respond, just presses the sleeve of her shirt against her temple to stop the flow of blood from a cut on her head.
“Why?”
Finally, Lena looks up. “Because I was the only one with the inside information to bring them down.”
“You could have come to us. To me. We would have helped.”
But Lena shakes her head and freezes Kara in place with a firm look. “I couldn’t let her hurt you again.”
Kara swallows hard. She can hear the telltale signs of DEO vans approaching. She gives Lena’s arm a quick squeeze.
“Are you okay to get out of here? The cavalry is going to be here any second now. It’s probably better if they don’t find you here.”
Lena draws her eyebrows together in a confused frown, and Kara squeezes her arm one more time.
“You protect me, I protect you. I’ll take care of this,” Kara turns to nod at where Lillian is sitting slumped over in a chair. “No one needs to know it was you. Go and take care of your head, okay?”
After a brief moment of hesitation, Lena nods and scrambles towards the back entrance to the warehouse, out of sight just in time before the first DEO agents come barging in. Kara vows to swing by Lena’s place later with some ice cream and several of her patented Kara Danvers hugs to make sure Lena knows she’s not alone, that she’ll always have her back. Just like Lena always has hers.

Fem gip spider girl- Phoebe Parker part 2
Part one
(I might make this into an actual Fic.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Fluff, mentions of intimacy, possessives, golden retriever x black cat.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Phoebe grabbed the glasses from the cabinet as she helped Kara prepare dinner for her and her annual friends night.
When she started dating the blonde superhero, she didn’t realize how different her and Kara actually were, but that’s what made them perfect together.
Kara’s golden retriever energy lightening up the room, whole Phoebe black cat energy threatens anyone who dare disturb Kara.
“You don’t have to stay if you don’t want to.” Kara tells her, walking to her as she came back from the living room.
“This is important to you, babe, I’m fine. Just your friends.” Phoebe muses as she was her won boss anyway, her and Lena going 50/50 on the company due to both of them being billionaires and well Phoebe loved working, especially photography. Reporting just came with the job.
Phoebe rolled up her sleeves, revealing the tattoos she had prior to getting bitten by a spider. Her black silk shirt matching her dark aesthetic as a silver necklace hanged from her neck. It was a matching one with Kara.
She had supergirls symbol while Kara had a spider. And the some of the many rings Kara got her her littered her fingers.
“You get the door, I got the pasta.” Phoebe tells her as her hair was in a lose pony tail, her black curls showing off.
Kara stiffened for a second, signaling she was listening to the footsteps walking towards her door.
“Just a sec.” Kara tells her, grabbing her face and pulling her in for a lingering kiss knowing Alex would be too over protective to let her kiss her girlfriend. Older siblings were a pain in the ass.
“Your cute.” Phoebe muses, watching her walk off before taking the Pasta out the oven, mixing the salad in a giant bowl with a salad grabber thing? Phoebe didn’t really pay attention to what Kara told her it was. Too busy staring at the blonde.
She brought it all the to the table as Kara greeted her friends, opening the door for them.
“It smells great, Kara!” Winn hums as the smell hits their noses.
“Thanks!” Kara smiles widely, proud of herself even though Phoebe had to make 99%, the on 1% helping put the cheese on the pasta. Phoebe didn’t mind as long as it made Kara happy.
“Hey Miss. Patera.” Winn greets her, still not used to seeing his boss outside of work.
“Please, Phoebe outside of work.” Phoebe tells him, giving him a brief smile before walking back into the kitchen.
“Damn.” Kelly mumbles to Kara as her, Lena, and Alex gawk at the woman who was currently grabbing wine from the cabinet.
“I know.” Kara tells her, starring at her girlfriend as she could practically hear the cocky smirk she was wearing.
“Babe? Could you bring the ranch in here?” Kara asks her as she walks towards the table, setting the napkins out once she breaks her trance.
“On it.” Phone calls back out, grabbing the sauce before walking into the kitchen. The wine bottle in her other hand as she sat next to Kara.
~~~
“Uno!” Kara calls out as she leans back into Phoebe, sitting in her lap as she played Uno with her friends.
Phoebe on her phone as she went online shopping, buying more things for Kara, who could see it.
“Attached to your phone, much?” James comments, narrowing his eyes at Pheobe. His comment creating unwanted tension.
“Have something to say?” Pheobe looks up at him, raising an eyebrow in a challenging way.
“It’s friends night.” James laughs, although no one laughs with him. “Phones aren’t typically allowed.”
“James-“ Kara glares at the man, annoyed with his constant jealousy.
“It’s fine, he’s right.” Pheobe hits order on her shopping cart which was really a bunch of stuff for Kara before putting her phone down.
Lena looks at Pheobe knowing the woman well enough, hiding her smirk.
Pheobe grabs the cards, shuffling them through her fingers, slightly showing off.
~~~
“Reverse. Reverse again, plus four, change the color to red and uno.” Pheobe calls out her cards as she sets it down before setting her last card down, winning the game, and leaving James with about 24 cards.
“Should have warned you she was a pro at Uno, banned her from playing.” Lena laughs, as James looks at his cards and back up at the woman who kicked his ass.
Kara stiffens as she hears something in the distance, police sirens and crashing. “Babe. could you help me get the mail?” Kara turns to her.
Pheobe focuses on her hearing, hearing the sirens too. “Of course.” Pheobe smiles, allowing Kara to get up before following her out.
“Are they?” Lena turns to Kelly who smirks. “Go little Danvers.”
“Hey hey hey, they did not sneak off to…” Alex shivers in disgust.
Before she could get up, super girl flies past the window, with Spidergirl swinging behind her, showing off as she flung past the window.
“That explains a lot.” Winn muses, putting two and two together.
“What? How?” James rushes to the window, watching them swing and fly off.
~~~
Pheobe lands on Kara’s balcony, roses in her hand as she takes off her mask, walking into the building.
“You didn’t-“ Kara walks over to her, bringing her in for a hug, making sure not to smoosh the flowers.
“Here, my love.” Phoebe’s Russian accent showing as she grabs a box from her pocket.
Kara’s eyes widen in pure happiness, making Phoebe smile at her. “Open it.” Phoebe tells her, setting the flowers in a vase.
Kara opened it to find a rose ring, decked out in diamonds as a sapphire sat in the middle.
“Babe- I-“ Kara’s words got stuck in her throat as she put the ring on her right ring finger.
Phoebe walks up behind her, wrapping her arms around Kara’s waist.
“You deserve the world, Mon amour.” Phoebe kisses her neck, her black of her suit contrasting to Kara’s pastel clothes.
Phoebe pulls Kara back into her as Kara lets her head fall back onto her shoulder, enjoying the attention.
Kara gasps softly, turning around so she was facing Phoebe. “I love you.”
“I love you more.” Phoebe smiles, pulling her in for a kiss, her hands trailing down to the blondes waist, gripping it.
“Show me.” Kara tells her softly against her lips. Getting a smirk from the spider superhero.
“Jump” Phoebe mumbles against her lips as Kara wouldn’t let them part for a second. Following the command Kara jumps, Phoebe grabbing her thighs for her legs to wrap around the superhero’s waist as Phoebe walks them into the bedroom, not disconnecting their lips for a second.
Note: This this as a part of Supergirl May-hem. Like to give a special thanks to @theredcapeofk for providing art for this fic and @mad2balive for beta reading for me. This was the first time for me to participate in an event like this and I am glad they have helped me make this go as smoothly as possible.
Lena sat with her head against the limo window watching the vast green trees and valleys go by while listening to Don’t Speak by No Doubt. She was going over the things in her life that got her to this point and the unfairness of it all. She just wished that she was back at home underneath the covers. She was suddenly brought out of her thoughts by a soft tap of her knee.
She pressed pause on her CD player and looked up to see three adults staring up at her with concern: Her father and mother, Lionel Luthor and Elizabeth Walsh, were sitting across from her with Lionel’s wife, Lillian Luthor, sitting to her right. Lena had always found their relationship a little peculiar. Lionel and Lillian entered a polyamorous relationship with Elizabeth about a year before she was born and they had been together ever since. It was not the norm, but she liked it because she had an extra person to love and call Mom. However, now she can’t stand any of them because she feels betrayed by them all.
Lena narrowed her eyes and snapped, “What?”
Lionel rubbed his temple and said, “You don’t have to answer with that tone.”
“You’re kicking me out of the house and abandoning me in the middle of nowhere. How do you expect me to sound?” seethed Lena.
Her mother winced but tried to keep a passive look on her face.
“That is not what is happening here. Nevermore is a wonderful school. They have wonderful teachers, the students are friendly, and you will learn more ways to control your magic,” Elizabeth tried to reason.
“I control my magic just fine. I’m even better at magic than you!” scoffed Lena.
Elizabeth grimaced at that last statement and tried to return to a more passive face.
“That may be true sweetie, but the way you’ve been using your magic is… less than desirable.”
Lena scowled while looking back out the window. “I have been practicing magic wonderfully,” she muttered.
Lena felt Lillian grabbed her hand softly. She looked over to Lillian staring at her with a soft smile on her face.
“You have a gift with magic. While I found the last stunt hilarious….”
Lionel frowned and asked, “Really, Lillian?”
Lillian looked up startled and asked, “What? I’m not going to lie to the girl. It was funny.” She turned back to Lena with a soft smile and said, “As I was saying, it was a funny stunt and I get why you did it, but violence shouldn’t be your go-to when someone has slighted you or someone else in this household.”
“But Morgan Edge was being a jackass,” muttered Lena.
Elizabeth sighed and said, “Language, sweetie.”
Lena rolled her eyes and said, “Morgan Edge is a butt face. Happy now?”
Lionel rubbed the back of his neck and asked, “You don’t think what you did was the least bit overkill?”
Lena thought back to what happened a week ago. After school, she walked to L-Corp to listen to a presentation that Lex and Edge were putting together about a new energy-saving initiative.
However, Lex never showed up to the meeting, just Edge. He went on to pitch his own idea of replacing steel with nth metal since a new supply of it was found in South America and it is stronger than any metal on Earth. Because of the large supply of it found, it would save energy costs.
While Edge was explaining the numbers, Lena found it odd that Lex was still missing and used her magic to try to locate him. She found him locked in a broom closet with a pit bull. Lex had managed to get to the top shelf where the dog couldn’t reach him.
She used magic to poof the dog away, but the damage was done. Lex was a babbling mess with scratch marks everywhere, and a urine stain on his pants. She instantly poofed him to a hospital so that he could be treated and given a sedative to calm down. While the doctors were working on Lex, she poofed back to L-Corp and burst back into the boardroom where Edge was finishing up his presentation. She remembers the confrontation with Edge vividly.
She approached him like a cat about to pounce on its prey. She tapped his shoulder while looking at him passively.
“Is there a reason why you locked my brother in the broom closet with a pit bull?” Lena demanded.
Edge chuckled. “I have no idea what you’re talking about.”
Lena looked down at her hands nonchalantly and said, “I found him in the closet not too long ago. The pit bull had run him up to the top shelf. The closet is only able to be locked with a key from the outside, so Lex couldn’t have done it himself. When I asked him what happened, all he could say was ‘Edge’ over and over again.”
Edge smirked and said, “‘Edge’ could refer to so many things. Besides, it’s kind of pathetic that Lex couldn’t stand up for himself against a dog. The most basic of people can do that.”
Lena raised an eyebrow and asked, “Oh really?”
Edge laughed obnoxiously which caused Lena’s skin to crawl. “Everybody knows that your brother doesn’t really have thick skin when it comes to business, or anything else for that matter. He comes from a Wasp-y upbringing, but he is anything but. L-Corp needs strong and dominant leaders who can take the reigns. Not those that cry in the corner.”
Lena narrowed her eyes and frowned. Her eyes turned black and started walking toward Edge, which caused him to gulp. When Edge looked around, his face fell when he noticed that everyone in the room was frozen in place and silent.
Edged looked back at Lena and stuttered, “It’s…nothing…personal….kid….”
Lena stopped within inches of him and smirked. “I find it funny that you think that you’re a Wasp considering you’re really just a worker bee gathering things in attempts to make your mommy richer and hoping that she loves you more for it. Too bad that she’ll still ignore you no matter what you do.”
Edge took a step back hesitantly and said more confidently, “You don’t know what you’re talking about.”
Lena smiled while brushing her hand against his arm which caused him to gasp. He was so nervous that he didn’t notice a purple glow going from her hand to his arm.
“Maybe you should be reminded of what bees do when a Wasp tries to enter solo in their hive.”
Lena cackled as she turned around and left. The room became lively again after she left. Everybody left the room except for Edge, who sat in the room in stunned silence.
Lena has thought back to that day with a smile on her face often.
Lena looked back at Lionel smiling and said, “I don’t think that it was overkill at all.”
“You had bees burst through the wall at his home and attack him,” Elizabeth said with a deadpan stare.
Lena looked down while pulling at her dress and said, “They just bit him. It is not like any of them used their poison stingers to kill him. If I wanted that, I would’ve done something that didn’t leave a body.”
Lillian raised an eyebrow and said, “You realize that it’s comments like that which have us concerned?”
Headcanons for being Alex Danvers' Daughter
Tumblr media
Growing up in and out of the DEO and on the busy streets of National City gave you a first hand look at how tough your family is and so on your first day of kindergarten you had apparently seen 17 more aliens than any of your classmates, which they had all said zero. Except for a little boy which said he was an alien. And you added to your number. 18 aliens.
The nights Alex was home, which was every night unless the city is literally falling apart, she would tuck you in and sing you to sleep.
Alex picks you up from school and then it's home most days but some times it's straight back to the DEO if things are heated.
You'll never tell your friends, but you have free access to Supergirl anytime you want. But you honestly didn't know Kara was Supergirl til you were like 8 years old, so she's just aunt Kara to you, half the time you forget she is Supergirl until she changes in her super speed in front of you.
For a long time you looked up to your aunt Kara. I mean who wouldn't. So while you knew your mom was totally cool and all she was still your embarrassing mom and aunt Kara was Supergirl...
You were a bit shocked when she sat you down and told you she was into girls instead of guys, but it didn't take much more that a week or two to process it and understand your mom.
Basically living at the DEO taught you many things, including, keeping your thumbs on the outside of your fist when punching, how to pull a really good prank on an alien, how to hide yourself away in a building with trained agents keeping an eye out for you, how to throw a ninja star, and how to shoot a gun(Alex taught you that though), how to make a army general very very angry(that technically wasn't your fault but you still left crying), and what it takes to make Winn freak out beyond compare (which is way easier that you think).
Game nights with family are the best. When you play as your moms partner your unstoppable, but even now you always want to play with Nia.
When learning how to drive you ran into a tree off the road and took a picture while waiting, sending it to a Danvers family GroupChat saying, "My driving skills are out of this road"
It was your aunt Kara's old car. She wasn't terribly mad. But Director of the DEO scary Alex Danvers AKA Mom was livid.
You weren't allowed to drive for two months. Alex even moved your DMV appointment because of how mad she was.
You begged her not to. which turned into angry crying and some yelling from both parts...
So the next week was spent in your room, school, and the DEO. trying to avoid your mom.
Things blew over and you eventually got your license! Yay!
Closer - Kara Danvers x F!Reader
Tumblr media
Warnings: almost death, fluff, gaaaaaay, gxg, dumbasses in love
A/n: SOME ONE CALL THE PRESS LIV IS FINALLY WRITING A FEM X FEM FIC! and its with my fav JLA member! I restarted supergirl recently since I never finished the first time round. I love Kara so much and i hope you all love this fic one as well.
*********
I was taking a short break, writer's block had hit me hard this time around. What could one say about super girl that hasn't already been written about the caped heroine. She was gorgeous, kind and a national treasure much like her cousin.
Which is why I decided to hopefully get rid of this stupid writers block by getting fresh air on top of the Catco building, I was always able to just clear my head up here listening to the sounds of National city below.
I was stupidly in my opinion walking rather close to the edge of the building when I hear the roof access door open.
Two very familiar voices seem to be in a small argument. I stop my pacing to eavesdrop, who knows it may be more entertaining than just my own thoughts.
“Kara, you have to tell her. Your love struck eyes are starting to slightly gross me out,” one voice says, I realize it’s winn, one of my coworkers who sits just diagonal of me in the office, “I’m pretty sure by the way she looks at you she also has feelings for you”.
“Winn! Stop, it’s not that easy, besides we don’t even know if she even likes girls! I don’t want to get my hopes up,” Kara sighs sadly, my heart breaks a bit thinking that my long-time crush might have fallen for another.
“Kara, she has a 3 pride flags on her desk, plus she was just telling Janice about the new gay bar that opened up downtown not to long ago,” was winn talking about me? Kara Danvers, has a crush on me?
I try to step closer to hear a bit more of the now very interesting conversation between the two friends when my foot makes contact with an air conditioning duct and it makes a loud noise.
I look up to see Kara standing in front of me with a shocked look on her face and Winn with a smirk.
“Ugh, I am just gonna go, yeah I’m just gonna go back to my office and you guys can forget that I was ever here” I say starting to back away forgetting how close to the edge I was until it was too late.
I didn't process what was happening until I felt the free fall. I saw Kara’s scared face and her reaching her hands out but it all happened so fast. As soon as I felt the wind blow past my hair as I fell, I saw a flash of blonde hair and I felt something solid and warm wrap around me. I was once again on the roof of Catco.
When I feel myself being let go I lurch forward and release everything that was in my stomach. Once I am finished, I look behind me and see Kara and her disheveled outfit, all wrinkled from catching me. Wait wait wait, she saved me. How is that even possible unless she’s…
“YOUR SUPERGIRL?!”
“Surprise,” she says nonchalantly as though it was no big deal, however her face soon changes to one of concern. She holds my own face in her hands examining me, “How could you act so recklessly! You could have died, if I didn’t have my powers I could have lost you!”
“I am so sorry Kara,” I say, my lip quivering when the reality of my fall finally hits me.
She pulls me into the tightest hug I’ve ever had, the tears fall free as we embrace, I pull back after a short recess of crying, to look into her green eyes “So I assume after this traumatizing event it’s too soon to ask you out on a date?”
She smiles her gorgeous smile and shakes her head yes, guess I finally do have an article to write out the amazing supergirl.
SUPERGIRL FINDS LOVE
Me, waking up in a cold sweat in 2023:
…okay but the fact that Lena immediately saw Kara as an enemy and started plotting to change the brains of everyone on Earth without our consent because Kara didn’t tell her she’s Supergirl…
…proves that Kara’s reasons for thinking she couldn’t tell her were exactly right?
Like, forget Lena’s concerning season 2 politics of “every alien should be outed without their consent because we can’t trust them,” or Kara being worried that Lena would be in danger if she knew.
By late season 4, the only reason Kara didn’t come out to Lena was that she was afraid of what it would do to Lena.
Because Lena told her what loss could do to her.
Starting in 2x18, “Ace Reporter,” after Jack died in Lena’s arms:
Lena: My mother saw her son dragged, bleeding and raving from her house. And when I got there, Lillian was tidying his room like he'd been away on a business trip. That's how I feel. Cold and calm. Until I think about Beth dying in jail, and then I feel warm for a minute Kara: You're in shock, Lena. Lena: I don't know. Loss does strange things to my family, and I've lost a lot of people. Kara: Well, you're not gonna lose me. Lena: I think when I feel things again, I'm gonna be very, very afraid… Of the person I might be. Kara: You don't have to be afraid. I'm right here. I'm not going anywhere. Lena: Promise? Kara: I will always be your friend. And I will always protect you. I promise.
Lena tells Kara she doesn’t feel like she has an anchor to who she is, and that she’s afraid that negative events outside her control will turn her into someone she doesn’t want to be.
So Kara offers to be her anchor, and Lena accepts.
Seems fine, right? Kara’s a reliable, dependable, and determined friend who is also very hard to kill. It’s a fair bet that she’ll always be there for Lena.
But this promise goes deeper than that: Kara becomes responsible for Lena’s feelings, and thus, in both of their minds, her actions.
In late season 3, the second reason Kara lists for not telling Lena her secret is, “If Lena ever found out that I was Supergirl, she would be devastated, and she would lump me in with every other person in her life that's betrayed her.”
(For reference, this is only 2ish years after they first met, which is about how soon she told Winn.)
“She would be devastated.” — Kara still feels directly responsible for Lena’s mental wellbeing.
When Lena is upset that she almost lost Kara in late season 4, Kara feels bad and finally decides, in that moment, to tell Lena that she’s Supergirl.
And then Lena says…
“I don't know if I'll ever recover from it, but I know there is no way I could ever trust anyone ever again if it wasn't for your friendship and your integrity. It just… It means the world to me, Kara.”
Lena again places all the responsibility for Lena’s happiness (and potentially goodness) on Kara.
So Kara puts her glasses back on and repeats the promise… “I'm always gonna be here for you.”
Kara decided to tell Lena she’s Supergirl to protect her from emotional pain and then decided not to tell her for the same reason.
At this point, Lena’s emotional reaction and associated consequences are clearly all that are keeping Kara from doing it.
“Well she should’ve trusted that Lena wouldn’t go bad! This clearly means that she didn’t have faith in Lena and Lena was right to be pissed.”
This goes back to the idea that started this post: Lena reacted to learning Kara’s secret in a way that is entirely consistent with what Kara was afraid of and what Lena said might happen.
Sure, if Kara had told her at some specific “right” time by Lena’s judgment, Lena wouldn’t have taken it as a betrayal or a sign of mistrust.
But Kara’s behavior or opinion of Lena shouldn’t have been the only thing keeping Lena from going bad in the first place.
The fact that it was a possibility put too much pressure on their relationship.
It resulted in a dynamic where Kara had to be perfect, but Lena was not responsible for how she reacted to perceived imperfection.
It also resulted in Lena continuing to believe that she doesn’t get to decide if she’s a good person.
So, you know, not super healthy for either of them.
Hey, a question I've been wondering for a bit: when you're writing a story, how do you decide if the supporting cast of friends will be the "early" group (James, Winn, Maggie, Lucy), the "late" group (Nia, Brainy, Kelly) or both? I LOVE reading Superfriends (and Lena's friends), and the more content of them a story has the happier I am. I've always been a bit partial to the earlier group, but I've read lots of stories where I've enjoyed the later group, and I also loved the way you combined them all in, say, the small town and dwts aus. (btw, you're welcome for not turning this into a screed about how Sanvers is otp. Believe me, I was tempted.)
That’s really shifted over time as characters have come and gone. Usually it depends on what I need from the characters - how their personalities and stories link to what I need that character to do within the fic, and their relationships with Kara or Lena or both. In DWTS I was exhausting every DCTV character that’s done a crossover that I could to fill out the cast of dancers and stars, lmao. For small town au I wanted Kara to have a tight-knit group, so I really just chose my favourites. Supergirl has a lot of great secondary and tertiary characters to choose from so I like to mix it up.
Powergirl Should Die - Final
Supergirl. Powergirl. Kara Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Alex Danvers x BabyDanvers!Reader, Lena Luthor, J'onn J'onnz, Winn Schott.
Word Count: 2750.
Part 1. Part 2.
Powergirl is gone.
"Boss." You nod at J'onn when you fly into the DEO. Alex hears your voice and makes her way towards the both of you. "Tag me in tonight. I've got a good night of rest. I'm ready to patrol the hell out of this town."
"I'm sorry, Powergirl." J'onn, whose voice displays no emotion at all, says. "I'm taking you out of this case. You're too close to the cause."
"What? Of course I'm too close, it's about me!” You speak a little too loud and notice all the other agents pretending they can't hear you. "You can't get me out of the case of someone trying to kill me."
"Are they? Trying to kill you?" You hear Winn's voice on J’onn’s back and you turn your head to look at him. You must be making some face because he looks scared when he sees you. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't butt in."
"Yeah, you shouldn't, computer guy."
"Hey!" Alex defends him and you roll your eyes.
"I just –" Winn continues even after seeing you scowl. "They haven't done anything. You have been getting those messages for a couple of weeks now. You should think someone would have tried something. Did anyone try anything?"
"No."
"Besides," Alex chimes in again. "It's not wise getting yourself in danger for it. Wait around, when we catch them you can do the interrogation yourself."
"Is this for real?" You look at the three agents ganging up on you, looking dead serious about it. You shake your head in disbelief. "This whole place is a joke!"
You go to L Corp for lunch. You show up with a bag of Belly Burgers and a whole speech for Lena. The thing is, Lena truly helped you sleep well the night before. With her you felt safe and yourself. Even with her finding out that you are Powergirl, you could let yourself forget about it, at least while you were in her arms. But still you can't help but feel like you took advantage of her.
You decide to save this whole conversation until after you both finish eating.
"Hey," Lena slides in a little closer, reaching for your hand on top of the couch. "You were quiet all throughout lunch. You know you can trust me with your secret, right?"
"Oh, yeah. I'm not worried about that." You give her a truthful smile and she slides in even closer, grabbing your hand and holding it between hers.
"What are you worried about, then? Let me in." Lena requests so softly, there's no way you can deny her. "I know the writing is keeping you awake," She makes sure. "but what else is keeping you closed off?"
"Lena." Her name comes out as a whine, and as result she kisses your temple while squeezing your hand in comfort. "What if the writing is coming from someone I know?"
She furrows her brows, but doesn't press you further. "Then you can do something about it, right? You're Powergirl! You're the strongest person I know!"
"Really?" She agrees with her head. You don't buy it. "What about Supergirl?"
"I mean, don't you and Kara have the same powers? Why would she be stronger?" Lena seems sincere, like she truly doesn't think that Kara is better than you in any way, including being a superhero.
"Yeah, I guess." You don't wanna tell her that you think your own sister is writing those things. Lena is Kara's best friend too. You can't poison that unless you know for sure. And the only way you can know for sure is if you confront your sister. "I guess I do have to do something about it."
You're not exactly thrilled to have this conversation with Kara, but it seems to be overdue.
"Hey," Lena whispers a bit closer. "I'm here for whatever you need. Always."
"I thought you would be mad that I didn't tell you I was Powergirl."
"I was. It lasted half a second." Lena says and you smile widely at her.
"I'm sorry about yesterday. I was so sleep deprived I just made you uncomfortable with the whole nonsense about you getting me naked. I mean, obviously you wouldn't wanna kiss–"
Lena interrupts you, with her lips crashing into yours. You first widen your eyes in surprise, but when her hand makes way to your neck, you're quick to close your eyes and melt into the kiss.
"I wasn't gonna kiss you yesterday." She whispers, breaking the kiss, and you slowly open your eyes. Your faces are so close you see every single color in Lena's iris. She's so damn beautiful. "You were so tired, it was like taking advantage of a drunk girl."
"I would've let you, though." You joke and she laughs before kissing you again. "Thank you, darling. You have no idea how much you've helped me last night. It was the first night in months I haven't had a single nightmare."
"Glad to be at service." Lena kisses your cheek, and you move your hands out of hers to snuggle her into your embrace. "Same time tonight?"
"Can't wait." You punctuate it with kisses on her face, and finally breathe deep. At least a good thing since you can't patrol the city tonight. Although, you don't think there will be any writing done. Not after you confront Kara about it.
It's after work when you fly through Kara's apartment window, unceremoniously.
"Oh hey!" Kara opens her arms excitedly when she sees you and you give her a forced smile. "You were reading my mind, I was about to call you and ask you to come over."
You make your way inside, but not before your sister pulls you in for a hug and a kiss on the top of your head.
"Why?" You untangle yourself making way to her couch. She furrows her brows when notices that you don't hug her back, but you're already throwing yourself on the couch, supersuit and all.
"Alex told me J'onn decided to take you off the case." You raise your head at her when she comes closer, a clear scowl. "I'm sorry, mini me. I promise I'll do whatever it takes to make the writing stop, ok?" Kara kneels in front of you, reaches for a loose strand of hair, and puts it behind your ear. "It will be alright."
"Will it?" You glare at her, crossing your arms in front of your chest.
"It will." Kara gives you a trying smile. "In the meantime, maybe you can talk to Lena about having more sleepovers, so you can continue sleeping well. I'm sure she won't mind."
"Why are you so worried about how well I sleep?"
"Because!" You hear her heart picking up the pace, so you wait for the rest, sure you must be closing in on her real reasons. "Sleep is important, and I know you were having a hard time with it. Nightmares ain't fun." You raise an eyebrow at her, she licks her lips. "And you said you were having them for a while. How-how long again?"
"Months."
"Right. Months with no good sleep, having to work and be a superhero. It takes a toll."
"You know what else takes a toll on people?" Kara raises an eyebrow in question. "Lying."
"Um, I guess. Have you? Been lying?"
"Me?" You can't believe she won't admit it. And she thinks you're the one lying. What the hell. "Oh no, I'm not the liar. You are."
"What?" Kara's mouth opens and closes a few times, like she can't believe she got caught. Like she didn't think you would find out. "What are you even talking about?"
And then, just like that, you snap. Anger starts boiling your blood, and you get up in a swift movement, ready to unleash hell. She stumbles back in surprise. It takes her a few seconds to get up too.
"You made me a superhero. Forced me into this life." You spit out greeted teeth. "Have you ever thought I could want something else? Have you ever thought of me as something other than a mini you?"
"What?"
"You got me to work for you and Alex! So you could both control my every step! And now what? Now you don't want me to be Powergirl anymore?"
"What?" She repeats, looking so surprised, you don't know how she can fake it so well. When did your sister become such a good actress? "What do you mean? Of course I do!"
"Then why have you been writing on fucking billboards and buildings that Powergirl should die?" Kara's eyes widen so much, you can't help but to roll your own. "Oh Rao, stop playing dumb already! I saw you, ok?"
"You saw me?"
"Red cape, blonde hair flying in the wind. All of it."
Kara furrows her eyebrows, "Really?" You agree with your head. "Red cape like this one?" She grabs your cape, pulling you to the direction of the mirror. "Blonde hair like that one?" She points at your reflection.
"Oh yeah, that makes sense." You can't stop the irony thick in your voice. "Yeah, sure. I'm the one writing that I should die."
"You are." Kara holds your face between her hands. "You haven't been having nightmares, Y/N. What you think you're dreaming, it's really happening. And the red cape you saw was yours."
"No."
"It's not the first time, either. You used to have them in Krypton too. Used to go around doing things you wouldn't remember and blame them on me."
"You're lying." You push Kara away from you so strongly, you're amazed she doesn't fall. "Just admit you did it! Why won't you?"
"Because I did! Our whole lives I would take the blame for everything you did while you were sleepwalking. With mother and father, Eliza, even with Alex. Gosh, Alex is still mad at me for destroying her chances to go to Europe when you were the one that did it!"
"No, you did it! You – You exploded Alex's stuff with your heat vision and Eliza thought you were feeling left out, I saw your blonde hair!" You stop yourself, walking backwards until your legs hit the couch again and you fall in it, wordless.
"You hate being Powergirl so you want her dead." Kara whispers lightly not to startle you. "I can't take the blame for this, because it won't stop it. You're the one that has to stop this now." She clears her throat to make sure you're still listening. "Kid, I can protect you from all the monsters and villains and planet explosions, but I can't protect you from yourself."
Your mind is screaming at you. Short-circuiting being overflowed with memories. She is right. Oh no, Kara is right. It was you all along.
When Kal was born you were jealous of the attention he was getting, so you stole his baby blanket and hid under Kara's bed.
You lost your spy beacon, so aunt Astra could only communicate with Kara afterwards. But you blamed Kara for having stolen yours and everyone believed you.
Alex said she wouldn't be back from college that year. Instead, she was going to Europe for the summer. You got mad and sad, you missed your sister so much and was so anxious to see her, yet she wasn't coming home. So you did it. You exploded Alex's side of the room and said Kara did it.
And Kara took the blame. She took the blame for you again and again. She would have people yelling at her, mad at her, but she wouldn't accuse you.
Oh my God, you just blamed your sister for wanting you dead when she was only trying to protect you from yourself again.
"Kara," You raise your tear-soaked face at her. "I swear I didn't know. I – I didn't do it on purpose."
"I know, baby." She whispers, one lonely tear rolling down her cheeks.
"No, I – Kara, I –" You can't talk. Can't breathe. It's all too much. "I'm sorry." You fall on your kneecaps, head hanging low. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry. I'll tell Alex, I'll call Eliza and tell her too, I wish I could tell mother and father, I wish I –"
Kara kneels in front of you, pulls your face to her chest and hugs your head. "You're ok. It's ok." She kisses the crown of your head. "It's what I'm here for. I'm here to protect you. I'm here to prevent you from getting hurt. I would've taken the blame for this too, if I could. But if I did, the writing would never stop."
"You took the blame for everything." You cry harder. "Oh Rao, I've been hating you for weeks. But it was all my fault. And you," You look up to her, though you can't see right with all of the tears blurring your view. "You knew. I was treating you so badly, and you knew exactly why."
Kara shrugs. She doesn't care that you've been blaming her. Why doesn't she care?
"I told you," She answers the question right out of your mind. "I will always protect you. And I won't stop just because you're being mean to me. I'm your big sister and I love you."
You hold her tight, crying non stop, unable to tell her how much you love her too. But she knows. She knows by the way you're sobbing and giving her a bone-crushing hug at the same time.
"It's time to let Powergirl go, baby." She cleans your tears, and helps you up. "Come on, let's let her go."
"But – But you need my help, you need me to be her." You whine, even though you are making it easier for Kara to detach the cape from your back.
"No." Kara speaks softly and kisses your temple, soothing. "I don't need Powergirl. I need my sister. I need you, Y/N."
She helps you out of your stupid gloves and boots, while you cry. You don't know why you're crying. You're happy, you’re finally free of this gigantic responsibility that was placed on your back. You’re happy you won’t have to lie anymore. And yet, you cry.
“Come on, it’s over now.” Kara shows up in front of you with one of her baggy hoodie and you’re out of skin tight suit soon after. And so you can finally breathe again.
You watch Kara carefully folding your suit and placing them in a box. She gives it to you so you can decide what to do with it. You don’t take the box from her hands.
“You keep it. In case of an emergency.”
Kara looks at the box in her hands. “I’ll not ask you to put on this suit again, I promise.”
And you believe her. But you also know that if any of your sisters or Lena are in danger, no one will even have to ask you.
“You take it to the DEO then. I’m sure they’ll keep it safe.” You hug Kara tight, one last tear falling from your eye. “Thank you for everything. Thank you for keeping me safe and always protecting me. El Mayarah."
"El Mayarah, mini you. Mini sis? Minnie Mouse!" Kara says and scrunches her nose at it.
"Yikes."
"I'll think of something else." Kara guarantees, kissing the top of your head. And you make your way to the door. "Wait," She says before you leave. "You're not wearing pants."
"Oh," You look at the large hoodie reaching mid thighs. "It's fine, I don't think Lena would mind."
"I knew it!" Kara says excitedly, and then she furrows her brows right after. "Can't let you leave the house with no pants, though. Especially now that I know where you're going."
"Fineeee." You pretend to be annoyed, but you're not really. It wasn't a good idea leaving the house without pants. Kara gives you matching sweatpants and kisses your head one more time before you leave.
"I'm happy for you and Lena, little one." Then she smiles brightly, eyes lightning up as well. "I think I got it this time."
"You've got it."
Powergirl is gone. Not dead. But definitely gone. And that lifts a huge weight from your shoulders and you're completely sure you won't have nightmares and won't sleepwalk again. At least not for that reason.
But hey, who are you to skip a sleepover date with your beautiful girlfriend, right?
Do you think that it was a missed opportunity to explore Kara’s intelligence? Because I’d assume that because of her kryptonian knowledge of advanced science that she could successfully cure most diseases and cancers (ex of how Krypton engineered babies to meet certain vocations and be genetically superior) and that she would never actually solve those problems because interfering with the human advancements in health, mathematics, science, tech, etc. could have very serious consequences in other ways.
So to not explore her guilt over choosing to not save millions of lives through her intelligence and how she balances that out in her heart by saving and inspiring as many as she can as supergirl seems kind of crazy to me. Even if just for one episode!
I’m rewatching and have thoughts 😂
"Do you think that it was a missed opportunity to explore Kara’s intelligence?"
Yes.
Simple as that. 😂
Nah but real talk, they obviously needed to have a role for the whole dorky-sidekick-with-a-crush trope Winn, so they needed him to be the brains to Kara's brawn, but to do so they clearly felt they had to diminish Kara's intelligence (🙄), otherwise this man had no purpose (typical, especially for this show). But then he left anyway. So, ultimately, a total waste on all fronts.
I'm sure some would say by that standard/rule "Then what would Lena's role have been?" sarcastically as if Lena and Winn are interchangeable but if you can't see that Lena elevated the show by creating the subversion of the Super/Luthor trope, and that if Kara had been a genius, she wouldn't have had to been reduced for Lena to exist, because Lena never needed someone else diminished in order to shine. She and Kara could have been true equals in terms of their intellect and them working together once they got past the secret reveal... something that would have been even more fulfilling, especially in all those canon moments on the show when Kara was hurt or incapacitated and Lena was the only person on the planet who could save her (Winn certainly offered nothing in that regard or those moments)... so...
ETA: Yes I meant to add that I also think they heavily neglected a lot of elements that would’ve been fantastic to explore when it comes to Kara’s trauma, possible guilt over what you mentioned, and so. much. more.
Alex is alone.
Of course, in the middle of the day the DEO is not empty. There are still agents present, walking through the command center, busy doing research, etcetera.
But none of them are close to Director Danvers, Querl notes as he walks in, toward her. Nobody seems to notice her, standing with her arms resting on the table, her hands fidgeting with something. Nobody sees the look in her eyes, no doubt remembering a time when other people she trusted stood around the table with her.
Querl has studied the records- he knows who else has been here. The former director, J’onn- who she seemed to consider a second father. Her own father, Jeremiah, before she knew who he was truly working alongside. Winn, for a time. Others have come in and out, like her ex-girlfriend Maggie, and even Mon-El and Imra, along with himself before he knew his stay in this century was indefinite. She misses all of them, he’s sure.
But he knows there is one she’s specifically thinking of. One she was supposed to protect, who became her strongest ally when she learned of the organization’s existence. One who she would literally not be here without.
One who, now, has been forced out, though not by any fault of her own.
(“From now on, the DEO will require full transparency from all of its assets”, Haley had said. How much longer until his own identity was under scrutiny as well?)
That, however, was a lower priority. And he would, theoretically, have time to plan for a way around it.
This… he hadn’t calculated. Even when Lockwood was shouting at her, he hadn’t considered it would lead to the President arriving at the DEO, asking that Kara reveal her secret.
And yet that was exactly what had happened.
He didn’t blame Kara for her decision, and he expected Alex didn’t either. It still hurt, however.
So it was with that in mind, that Querl approaches her, and as much as he could say in that moment, nothing seems adequate for the situation.
Instead, he simply places a hand on her shoulder, and she looks at it briefly before gently patting his hand, and letting out a sigh.
“Thanks.” She says.
“Of course.” He answers. “I’m sorry.”
“Me too.” She tells him. “I tried to prevent it…”
“I know. But…”
Alex lets out a sigh again.
“You probably saw this whole thing coming, didn’t you?”
Her tone is more accusatory, and takes him back- mentally, at least- to a time when she would have never let him put his hand on her shoulder, or get as close to her in any way as they are right now.
“No, actually.” He says. “Not these specific circumstances.”
Alex nods.
“So I guess you don’t know what we should do next.”
“No, that much is clear.” He says. “We keep helping Supergirl, as much as we can. Like you always have.”
She smiles, just a little bit, when she finally turns to look at him.
“Like we have.” She corrects. “That, I can agree with.”
He smiles back, just as briefly, before continuing.
“What is she doing now?”
“She said she was going on vacation, visiting her cousin and Lois Lane on their family farm for the holidays.” Alex answers. “I certainly don’t blame her. If it was me… well, I’d certainly want to take a vacation too, but I don’t think I could have shown that much restraint.”
Restraint is practically second nature for me, he thinks, the inhibitors holding back how strongly he feels about their current predicament, but considers that such a statement would sound like bragging, so he avoids it.
(He also avoids any comments about hopefully getting to meet Superman and his soon-to-be wife, because those would definitely be insensitive in this circumstance.)
“Me neither.” He says, attempting to reassure her. “Then I suppose we should plan for what may happen when she returns- Agent Liberty getting out of prison, if the protesters on television have their way, or any number of new rules Haley could impose on the DEO.”
“Yeah.” Alex answers. “Somewhere other than here, though.”
“In private. Indeed- lead on, Director.”
She looks more confident now, as she begins to stride away, and in what is becoming a habit for them now, he follows soon behind.
“Certainly, Agent Dox.”
My thought on season five.
It took way too long. Partly because of laptop trouble. Mostly because of Lena’s stupid bastardous existence. But I’ve finally finished season five of supergirl. And as always. I have Opinions. Some of which many will most likely hate. So please. Read the fucking tags before you click the readmore. It’ll save you a helluva lot of time. Got that? Good. Now let’s begin.
I still miss Mon El. It’s A Super Life was nowhere near enough. Kara needs her soulmate dammit. I know it ends with Kara becoming The Sponge Who Could Fly. But she, and we, deserved Mon El back full time.
I miss Winn and I miss James. I know why they’re actors left. And I don’t blame them for leaving. I blame the hellers of the fandom. But still. I miss them
I’m loving dansen. No notes. Yet.
I really like Andrea. She’s much more sympathetic than Lena is.
I’m loving William. I know he dies. And I’m bracing myself for it. But right now he’s the Graham Humbert to Kara’s Emma Swan. If you you know what I mean.
It’s. A novelty to see Buono play a modern role after seeing her in Mad Men and Stranger Things. I don’t like Gamenae. I’m just saying it’s a novelty.
I found Lex screaming in Lena’s face at the end of The Missing Link to be incredibly cathartic. It was high time that she got yelled at.
I still maintain that Lillian is the superior Luthor. Far more impressive, and better acted, than her bastard stepdaughter could ever hope to be.
Once again. Everyone brings their A Game. Except for Lena’s actress.
I am STILL pissed off about the wonky as fuck morality system in this show. And I FULLY believe that I am always going to be pissed off about it.
There’s probably more. But this is all I can think of right now. So. Tell me what you think?
