I am recently rereading the original matilda book by Roald Dahl and the book matilda vs the movie(s) is like, really fucked up?
You know the iconic cake scene, where Bruce has to eat the whole cake after the Trunchbull steals a piece of his? In the book, it is heavily insinuated that the cook from the kitchen drained her blood and baked it into the cake. And everyone is just chill with that?
Ms Honey in the books is like 100% poorer. She has no furnature and no running water. In the movie the trunchbull steals her money to the point where she's like, kinda poor. But in the book she steals to the point of like, almost killing her her
I'm sure there are more, and I also know that the movie is super fucked up anyway but like, god damn

From my Bookshelf #11: Roald Dahl's "Matilda"
Like a lot of readers, I’d say the book is much more substantial than a movie adaptation. Directors often take out key parts of a story or rehash them to suit their own visions which deeply contradict the author’s original intent. People who have never read the book are fooled into thinking that the movie is the full story while those of us who have first listened to the author are disgusted. But…

I’m @littlemxhoney because I’m like a nonbinary Miss Honey from Matilda!
And I loved the enby take on the Little Miss Sunshine trend so, voila! ✨

I watched Matilda: the musical on netflix. And loved it of course.
Tumblr media
The music was great, the actors, both kids and adults were awesome and perfectly cast...
But one thing I really really liked, was that it wasn't just Matilda who stood up against Miss Trunchbull.
Even the older kids, the prefects, were warning the younger kids, not just to scare them, but to protect them.
When that first boy came running for help, Matilda told the other kids what to do, sure. But the other kids went along and helped her.
All the kids cheered for Bruce to finish the cake.
You could see they were hurting, but they weren't broken.
I loved how Miss Honey kept trying to stand up to the headmistress. First quietly, by making learning fun. But then by protesting, and trying to speak up for her students, more and more forcefully so as the movie continues.
I loved that in the scene leading to Trunchbulls defeat, it wasn't Matilda who gave the first push to the other kids to revolt. They all stood up to Trunchbull. Matilda's power lended the physical force the kids lacked. But Trunchbull had already lost before that, when the kids found strength in one another. Realizing that they were stronger together.
So that when we get the song 'Revolting Children' it's the kids' song. Instead of making it Matilda's song.
That it's Bruce who calls the entire school to revolt. And the older kids choice to join in before they even realize that Trunchbull is already defeated.
It goes against the idea of the lone hero saving the day, and instead shows how a person can inspire others to save themselves by working together.

I was sitting in a classroom and the Trunchbull from Matilda burst through the wall like the Kool-Aid Man but she was entirely naked and holding a stick of butter while screaming about fairies.

Hello! Your blog is pretty cool! Can Mrs. Trunchbull (from Matilda) kill Macbeth?
(I am so sorry if this was asked already and I missed it)
Yes, Agatha Trunchbull from Matilda could kill Macbeth!
Tumblr media
She applies for the Gender Clause. She does claim that she was never a child and/or that she grew out of childhood very quickly, though this is most likely just something she has convinced herself of due to her vehement hatred of children, refusing to believe she ever could have been one, and not some sort of supernatural origin.
Thank you for your submission!
