Warm n’ Cozy

Callsign: Angel; before becoming a pilot, Angel worked as a field medic for the navy. Many of her patients called her their guardian angel.

Both Y/n and Callsign are used in this drabble!

Pairing: Bradely “Rooster” Bradshaw / Wife!Reader

In which a certain brunette pilot wakes up to his wife, seemingly the most comfortable she can be, while he is most definitely not.

AN: IM BACCKKKK! I woke up this morning and had an idea so here it is :D

Rooster woke up to the blinding California sun shining through the curtains, 9:32 AM. Husband instinct, he rolled over to find you still asleep, giving you a kiss on the forehead and grabbing his phone. That’s when he noticed:

He was freezing.

You had a habit of setting the AC to low temperatures so you could snuggle up into the warmth of Bradley and your duvet. This was mostly a struggle because you liked to steal the duvet from Rooster as you slept. So, there you were, rolled up as a Y/n burrito under your fluffy white covers, and Bradley felt as if he were naked in a corn field. No coverage, at all. Just his pajama pants.

He didn’t want to get up. But he knew if he tried to get some of those covers back from you he would wake you up. He’d been in this situation before, and everytime he never knew how to get covers back so he could cuddle up to you and go back to sleep. Usually, it resulted in Bradley getting up and starting his day, but you looked so adorable in your blanket fort that he didn’t want to leave this moment.

Before he messed up anything, he grabbed his phone again and took a picture of you, the top of your head was all you could see peeking out from the blanket. And he would never let you see that picture because you would try to delete it. Every time.

So there Rooster sat, trying to weigh out his options. He could get up and make you some breakfast, which he knew you would enjoy, but he didn’t want to get up. He could try and slowly pull some blanket back to his side of the bed and go back to sleep, but that would wake you up.

Bradley was at a fork in the road, one that he had faced many times. He had to decide quickly, though, because he was still freezing.

Ultimately, his laziness won him over and he started slowly untangling you from your cocoon. And he did it again. You started to stir and he immediately stopped. His eyes were wide and he was praying you wouldn’t wake up, though he knew it was inevitable.

“Roos, what’re ya doin?” you slurred, bringing your hand up to rub your eye.

“Sorry, Angel. I was trying to take back some of the blanket, it’s cold.” he was quiet, in case you could still salvage sleep out of this.

Thats when you lifted your arm to invite him in to your wrap. And he happily accepted, wrapping his arms around you to gain some warmth.

This was the only scenerio where he was able to go back to sleep and stay warm, and he wouldn’t trade it for anything else.

-Puff played minecraft with the band once and kept building dicks when they turned around for a second and when i tell you it pissed them OFF SO BAD but he was still giggling like a teenager bc "haha pp funny"

-When someone matches his energy (like when hes being a little shit) his brain stops working and he doesn't know what to do

-If he ever gets clingy his excuse is that the weed he smoke was shit and is making him all "mushy and lovely dovely" OR he just doesnt say anything and buries his face into someones chest/shoulder (clingy💀💀)

-If he gets really pissed his voice gets super high and Axel makes fun of him that he sounds like Mickey Mouse

-Puff wrote half of the YFM songs high.

-Puff loves using baby voice to annoy others but if anyone does it to him he will be SO flustered bc he finds it so childish and embarrassing

-He is fascinated by magic tricks, like he tried practicing once but got so frustrated bc he couldnt do it on the first try

-He will insult your whole bloodline if you beat him any game. Video or board game.

-He had a goth phase in high school. Prove me wrong.

-His favorite season is Autumn. I feel it.

-He LOVES being in the centre of attention, but when hes being made fun of he hates it.

-When everyones asleep he draws dicks on their faces and takes pics. He has like 100 of them.

-He hates being out in the sun. Like he cant see shit in the sun AND he gets hot easily.

-He either bottles up his emotions or breaks down. But its really rare for him to express his actual emotions.

- He has alot of moles on his body.

-He probably has a very sensitive skin. Like anyone pinches him and his skin goes RED so fucking fast.

-Hes either Polish or Russian. I cant decide LMAO

-Hes the driest texter you ever saw. Like you text him "I love you" AND HE REPLIES WITH A THUMBS UP.

- I feel like he hates his smile and laugh. Like he laughs all of the time but hes really insecure about how he sounds and looks.

I was tagged on this ages ago by @klayr-de-gall , @kingsandsaints , and @thelittlestgremlin and never got around to doing this, and it took me so long because I knew it would be VERY HARD for me to pick only 5 comments that mean a lot to me. As content creators know, comments are AMAZING GIFTS given by readers when they want to publicly state what they liked about a fic and seriously make creators feel validated and like what they do is worthwhile. It’s FUEL and I love every single comment I’ve received. So, in no particular order, here are MORE THAN FIVE. I literally could not narrow it down to five:

I'm sure a bunch of people have commented on this bit already, but I don't even care. It's amazing. It killed me. I'm dead and it's all because you're amazing. <3

Ambrosia was referring to a Billy’s first kiss with Steve, a moment I’d described using extended sound/musical metaphors, and I really appreciated that she’d copy/pasted that bit to outline as a favorite as it was a part I was particularly proud of writing.

Ugh, that broke me a little. Christmas, and people doing nice things for each other, and someone who didn't think he'd ever have these things, having these things... I am weak, so weak, for those things.

And his scars. Him reading them all wrong, and Steve infusing them with love and adoration with every kiss. Maaan, I love scars. Because they're proof that you lived through something horrible but survived; got through it. And Billy did that. He got through the horrible thing, and now he's being rewarded with all the things he could never have dreamt about: love, a town full of people who wants him to do well, and people to help and support him.

Ihni really hit the nail on the head with what I wanted readers to take away from this fic: a town full of people who wanted to help and support Billy as well as Steve, who wants to infuse all of his love into Billy, into his scars.

I was so, SO happy to give a reader specific details to walk away with. That means a lot, and Sarah picking out those details meant I’d done a good job.

I love it when people say where they were when they read it and their reaction in that moment. Plus the “fuck you. But mostly thank you.” had me rolling laughing, lol. I adore this comment.

To have another Trek fan comment about how much they loved the fic and want like MORE fic or even a show is a top compliment lol but like it was a SPECIAL moment for me to work the word imzadi into the fic, and I’m SO glad it was meaningful for flippy, too.

I know literally nothing about any of the Star Trek things except they involve space and there are aliens and like, DUDE, I love how accessible your story is!! You made it very easy to follow along for someone who is super unfamiliar with any of this universe. AND I LOVE that Billy is an empath! It fits him so well and it adds this bit of mystery to him too because he can read Steve's emotions so well but there's always going to be a 'WHY does he feel this way??' question tacked on which has the possibility of being very conflicting for the two of them (and then you have Steve who doesn't have that ability to read Billy's emotions but at the same time it seems like he CAN, like he knows Billy so well it doesnt matter if he's an empath or not, he KNOWS Billy). AND OMG. Billy standing up for Steve to his dad. Like. Goddamn so sweet.

This is but a sample of the kind of comment that granpappy-winchester (LazyBaker on ao3) leaves on fics. Sara’s comments ALWAYS describe how the fic makes he feel, points out specific details and lines, and more than anything -- they make you feel VALUED as a writer. Getting a comment from Sara is one of the greatest things you could ask for as a writer.
