I know that your designs might be uncommon, and they might not fit the quote unquote 'fandom norm', but they're so cool to see. Some of my favorite fanart has been with QSMP eggs that don't look like the typically design-and while the typical design is still absolutely lovely, don't feel like you need to conform to it. The eggs have no canon design. They have widely spread fanon ones, but those are only common because we, the fans, made them common. Draw what you'd like, because it's incredible to watch from the sidelines as casual competitive fanart reblogger.

anyways im like writing about caviar (and about oyster) because i need to distract myself from the fact that i still have to wait several hours for him :((((

What I think a lot of people don’t get about both Oyster and Caviar is that, based off their lines, both of them were old enough to remember a time before Vanillians settled in what is now the Republic. They would’ve seen the creation, establishment, and calcification of the currently hierarchy that disadvantages Cookies of the Sea compared to the Vanillians, especially from the view point of a Sea Cookie who managed to beat the odds and gain access to the centers of power. This undoubtedly would’ve had a tremendous effect on their outlooks on life and perspectives, as shown in Odyssey. But it also makes you wonder- What lives did they live before the Vanillians arrive?

Oyster says she comes from "a house of merchants and traders” so her family comes from a mercantile background, perhaps sailing to far off lands to buy and sell goods otherwise unobtainable. It’s quite possible that even before the Vanillians arrived, her family had a prestigious background among the Cookies of Sea, and that was what allowed her to reach a high station even with the new social hierarchy after the Vanillians’ arrival.

Caviar’s case is more unclear given how much less information we are given about him, but at the very least, it seems that he comes from a more common background than Oyster. (For example, how he prefers direct and blunt methods versus Oyster’s games of intrigue and manipulation) We know it was him who repelled the Durianeers from the Republic’s shores, and it’s hinted that he knows Black Pearl Cookie from a prior encounter in the update preview video. House Caviar is also noted to enjoy strong support from Lower City Cookies, perhaps seeing House Caviar as their only voice and representative in the upper echelons of power. This viewpoint is not entirely unfounded, as Caviar is the first to bring up the plight of the Lower City cookies to the Convocation.

Perhaps he came from a lowly fishing background, going out to fish for sustenance every day with his family/fellow orphans until one day, airships landed on the coast. He had to fight his way from the very bottom of both Sea Cookie society and Vanillian society, racking up victories and achievements but also earning scars and injuries, all in service of a Republic that treated him and his people as second class citizens.

Whether or not I’m correct, I’m excited to see more Caviar in this update!

side note, anybody else wondering what the fruits/fruit juice based Mulled Juice Cookie is doing in the Republic? Is he like a Hollyberrian emigrant or a descendant of one?

Imaginos Astronomy makes me feel like I'm a resurrected wizard on the beach standing against a stormy sea. Secret Treaties Astronomy feels like I'm a tired old piano man at a bar retelling the tale of the resurrected wizard.

had a minor crisis when 12ft.io went down yesterday and thankfully it's back now but this seems like a good opportunity to compile a list of similar paywall-evading tools in case 12ft ever gets canned for real:

12ft.io: the legend himself. definitely my favorite of the bunch by virtue of being the easiest to use (and the easiest url to remember), but it's configured to disable paywall evasion for a handful of popular sites like the new york times, so you'll have to go elsewhere for those.

printfriendly: works great; never had any issues with removing paywalls, even on domains that don't work with 12ft.io. since this site is literally designed to make sites print-friendly, it might simplify the overall formatting of the page you're trying to access, which can be a good or bad thing. my only real issue is that the "element zapper" (which lets you remove content blocks from the print-friendly preview) is a little sensitive if you're browsing on a touchscreen device, which means you might accidentally delete a paragraph when you're just trying to scroll. but if that happens you can reload the page and it'll revert everything back to its original state.

fifteen feet: basically a 12ft clone, minus 12ft's restrictions. haven't used it much since I only discovered it yesterday in the wake of 12ft's 451 error but it seems to do the trick.

archive.today: an archival tool very similar to the wayback machine, but it also works as a de facto paywall removal tool. (the wayback machine seems to remove paywalls as well, but archive.today has better UX imo and is way faster to use.)

and an honorable mention for sci-hub: only works for scientific/academic journals, not random news articles, but the other sites listed above only work for random news articles and not academic publications so you gotta have this one in your toolbelt for full coverage. pubmed is your oyster.
