Why would you do this?
Jensen so much as breaths and it's everywhere but if it's something like a guest character's birthday no one cares??? IT WAS LITERALLY THE OG V'S BIRTHDAY TWO DAYS AGO! TWO! BUT NOTHING?! ANYWHERE?! WHY?! Fuck this, happy birthday Fredric Lehne.

Fernando 2012 Chair Lore (source: me)
So I've been thinking a lot about Fernando sitting in this particular chair in the Ferrari garage in 2012 for [redacted] reasons:
Originally I just wanted to find more pictures of it for reference, and then went down a rabbit hole of 2012 pictures, trying to figure out when exactly the chair came to be. There's so many pictures of him in it, and it's so funny to me to imagine them hauling this super villain chair all around the world for him. And so now I'm obsessed with the evolution of it:
Pre-Chair - Australia to Bahrain:
He just had this little stool, well I should say big because it somehow still manages makes him look small. Clearly not comfortable; to paraphrase @sweatyflytrap, it's not conducive to his inner Shakespeare villain monologues
The Chair Appears - Spain
He suddenly now has this, aforementioned, super villain chair. Several things, why is it like this. It looks like a sim chair almost ngl. And then the weird plexiglass support is confusing me, like where did they get that. It furthers my narrative they just had this chair that they couldn't put in a car so they put that clear bottom on it. Anyways yes good, now he has somewhere to brood
The Chair Evolves - Silverstone
Look!! They gave him a booster seat!!!
The Chair is Now Here to Stay :)
I downloaded a truly horrible amount of pics him in this chair, so now you all must also look at them >:)
*he still had the chair in 2013, but I think they took it away from him in 2014 :( Is nothing sacred in this world??? I hope he got to take it home hahaha

What's up gay people (Excellent Entities fans)? I bring snacks (a stupid superhero AU I had a dream about one night) ~
So basically, this AU is about Latte (how could you tell?) and his life as an ex-supervillain turned "superhero".
Doodles and lore under the cut (tis long):
The basic premise is this:
Latte is a tech wiz. He owns a large business that produces many technologies such as phones, computers, and villain weaponry. The city he lives in is run by and constantly fought over by wanna be supervillains. The police force are also always on everyone's tails, trying to keep the crime down in the city.
With Latte's immense artillery and need for funding on future technological projects, he decides to play both sides of conflict, marching as a vigilante with the police and an arms dealer for the villains. He was not born with powers, but he has crafted a phone that grants him "ice powers". Eventually, he begins to lean more to the "hero" side to be different from all his peers and have easier access to funding. However, he still has a soft side for his clients, so he does allow for some big crimes to "slip" despite being able to easily stop them (cuz he built and fixes all their weapons).
Everything is good until some newcomers come onto the scene. One is Nail, Latte's sidekick and the most prominent reason for his shifting of morality. Chalky and Broomer are not new to town, but they do bully Nail a ton, so they are new on Latte's radar. Another is Smartie, the new detective in town that is trying to track down an expensive piece of classified technology rumored to have alien influence. Finally, Chocolate Bar shows up, a seemingly nobody granted god-like superpowers and a violent vendetta against the city.
Will Latte be able to keep the steady nature of the city in check? Or will it crash down in flames? Who knows, cuz I'm making this up as I go.
TLTR: I make a stupid superhero AU where Latte is a Green Lantern/ Batman knockoff who plays good and bad people like a fiddle with a silly sidekick, detective, and a plethora of frenemies before being kicked around by a salty middle-aged man.
If you actually made it this far, you deserve a metal. 🪙 Have a nice day bros :)

Okay but honestly Francis MapleStory is one of those cases where canon gives us so little that I could honestly just grab him and inject him with any character traits and development I personally like. Because like, we honestly only know the very basics of his personality. We don't really have much of a backstory or even a deeper more intimate look at his story within the timeline of the game. We know that he's emotional and considered childish (mostly due to him being emotional and having a special interest in toys, which is wild because certain quests imply that he also makes toys so at that point it should be considered a profession, right???), that he's strong enough to be allowed to join the Black Wings but weak enough to be the first boss of basically every storyline, and that he loves Orchid enough to pledge loyalty to her even at the cost of his own dreams and ambitions.
And that's it. Hell, even the reason he's in love with Orchid (and all the problematic elements that accompany it) are pretty solely from the FriendStory High School AU, in which case... He's a teenager in that story. It makes sense that he doesn't have a very developed or nuanced view of girls. In the main story of the game, we don't actually know why he became so infatuated with her, it could easily be for problematic reasons or it could be a litany of other reasons. Maybe he relates to her obsessive nature? Maybe him being so emotional makes him empathetic to her plight (especially given that she's such a... punished character)? And like, Orchid keeps him around for some reason, given that she's literally killed people in the past, so she either finds him useful or maybe even just enjoys his company at this point.
I dunno! It's interesting to me, they're the only two characters that defected from the Black Wings in the game and they're canonically accompanying each other. We know so much about Orchid but so little about Francis. And his autistic swag intrigues me.

Listen listen listen I just think Jack deserves the chance to yell at Vlad for underestimating and deliberately maligning him for two decades. I just think that everyone has gotten the chance to defend Jack Fenton to Vlad except Jack himself. Jack is not an idiot for thinking his friend had forgiven him and he deserves the chance to tell Vlad that himself without Vlad getting a word in edgewise.
Jack's friend blamed him for an accident that hospitalized him for years, and Jack went "He's clearly just blaming me because he needs someone to be angry at and I'm a very convenient target" and then celebrated when he thought he came around, and I want him to get the chance to tell Vlad that actually, he's the pathetic one.
Actually, Jack is much smarter and more successful than the man who constantly had to steal Jack's inventions and other people's wealth to get by, who pined after a woman for 20+ years because he thought she was hot even though he never managed to hold a normal conversation with her in the show that wasn't about his own bitterness, who tried to mentor a 14 year old multiple times and only succeeded in getting him to hate him. And Jack deserves to tell him.

Prior to sending the ask I was just guessing what matrophobia meant based on the root words but I looked it up after and went ohhhh and then you confirmed that extra dimension to it and I went OHHHHH
I think that gets to the heart of what I've been thinking about, that bittersweetness, because despite his best efforts... of course he could never end up anything like Yoko, but he still ended up with an abusive "household." Because in addition to Masato ending up how he did, he has to see those same situations play out, feel that same tension in the air between Jo and Ichi, over and over for almost a decade straight.
Like, in a way, he's forced to put himself in Toshio's shoes when that happens. He can't really get through to Jo, in the same way Toshio can't get through to Yoko, but he can try to step in before lasting damage is done, and he can try to make it bearable for his son. You know. Have a nice talk. Treat him to Peking duck. I'm SO normal about the (drawn-out) parallels of those scenes
So then with Jo... he kind of does become his father, even if he never wanted to (no one wants to), both through his ruinous neglect of Masato at birth and through how he comes to look at discipline and corporal punishment. I'm sure it's not lost on him in Masato's case (owww), but with Ichi, it's not like he has any reason to see him as his son... But How Far Can That Take You.
Because it's like, at the start, he was openly beating Ichi in front of Arakawa and not letting up much when Arakawa intervened. But then you have The Yubitsume Scene and Arakawa walking in on All That and... he looks sorry. Sorry for being caught, probably, but sorry nonetheless. Like... what changed between then and now... have you two had a Heartfelt Conversation... do you know where Arakawa got that scar... are you unable to change your "nature" even then...
Side note bro your SHOE is the size of his TORSO I promise you do not need to kick him with all the strength you've got like what the hell is this 😭😭😭
BUT ALL THAT ASIDE thank you so much for delving into the symbolism! Wonderful read. I don't really have an eye for symbolism, so that makes it all the more enjoyable to revisit the comic and everything with what you've gone into. I think a lot of your experiences resonate with mine, so conversely I'm not sure what others would take away from it, BUT I think there's enough there that's so insightful and evocative that it's effective without personal experience. I don't think there's anything I could add, so. Yeah. For once I am happy to sit back and take it all in... On that note, definitely looking forward to your next comic!
AUUUGH YEAAAH YEAHEYA HYEAH THAT EXACTLY OUUUGH OWIEE OWW.....
that's literally it though. like no extra notes. except The Obligatory Few i dont think it was an accident that arakawa is set up as the beginning of the game's 'protagonist' and planting that 'troubled family' taste first thing in our mind. i remember how i felt when i first saw arakawa walk in on jo and ichi and then arakawa taking ichi out for dinner i was just like🧍♂️Girl No The Cycle.... It's Continuing...... //screams// LIKE UGH IT WAS SO GOOD BUT ALSO OWWW STOPPP and then on the REPLAY it just hurts more cause with the added context to jo's character its like Oh No...... You're Your Father's Son....
and youre right: jo doesn't have an implicit reason to see how he treats ichi is wrong, hence he similarly doesnt have any reason to stop- not unless arakawa intervenes of course (and i will stand outside my window thinking of the possibility arakawa ever did try to have A Conversation with jo... arms folded behind my back and all like Man™️....)
oh but yeah, absolutely no problem ! im lowkey of an egotist so i do like to talk bout the stuff i make. More In Depth (though thats obvious considering the fuckin essays in the tags i always leave ☠️☠️) gerjlgaELKjg. so i was happy to explain ♪(´▽`) !! what i like about symbolism is that it can be intentional or not, and the fun is always finding it just by chance. i cant explain it properly, but i just think its a neat 'seasoning' of sorts to drawings (❁´◡`❁)
