So, before, when I hadn't seen the middle seasons. I thought Dany was shafted by the narrative. Now that I've filled in how truly, truly awful the whole White Saviour insult that her entire story arc is. I've realised it's the barbaric Unsullied, and the always screaming Dothraki that were really fucked over. The characters of colour are only ever compared to her dragons: the flying beasts, and never matched with the men, women, Lords, Ladies and Knights of Westeros. The framing is always fire, fire, screaming hordes. Brutal, brutal executions, knives and fire. They are monsters so that she can be monstrous.

i feel like it needs to be said. i feel like the reason dany gets labelled “mad queen” and no one else who does horrible things gets called mad is simply because danny’s father was the mad king. allow me to explain.

does dany do cracked things? a little bit yes. she acts out of emotion and rage at times BUT so do other characters and some characters do horrible things just for fun (joffrey we’re looking at you). however no one else has a father who was labelled as mad or has an entire family labelled as mad. dany’s family is known to go a little crazy in life, therefore it makes sense to give her a nickname similar to that of her father and one that fits with her family’s past.

i think dany being called the mad queen is simply “well that was her fathers name”. to me it’s almost like a son being called junior cause he has the same name as his father. it’s just

calling dany the mad queen doesn’t negate the fact that other ppl were WAY crazier than her, way more brutal than her, more ruthless than her. i think it’s just a familial thing, dads mad so daughter must be mad too. dad is called mad king so daughter is called mad king queen.

i really hope this makes sense. i really hope no one comes at me with an anon question calling me stupid or brain dead or whatever y’all wanna throw out. i really hope y’all understand this is MY opinion on the matter. it’s the way i see it. dany did do some crazy things, which i think is a result of a brutal and traumatic life, but her family’s history of mental illness can’t be overlooked. i personally think dany is called mad just out of..laziness, for lack of a better word. other ppl could be labelled mad as well but it doesn’t have the same ring as “the mad queen”.
