This post is for people who LOVE MAKING SIs and get excited about them! Whether that's because of:
💖Deeply integrating your SI into lore
💖Designing outfits/hair/looks
💖Developing all of their relationships with other characters
💖Figuring out their life story, from past to present to future
💖Another super cool reason I missed! (share? :D tell me in tags, comments, or reblogs)
YOU ARE VALID AND I LOVE YOU! Sometimes it is just as much if not more fun to focus on SI development than on ship development 🥳keep on making your awesome SIs!!!

okay i meant to make this post forever ago but my personal opinion on why so many people were so dissatisfied with lightfalll (disclaimer: i am not one of these people, i love lightfall SO much), is that lightfall was kind of subjected to a really aggressive marketing campaign.
like, stick with me here, i feel like almost all the lightfall release content (the trailers especially) were so focused on battling the witness, how this battle has been centuries in the making and this is the Second Collapse Finally Finding Us, only for there to be,,, no real resolution. the end was left on such a severe cliffhanger, but not only that, there was NO battle with the witness. the witness didn't even seem to be having a hard time at all with what we WERE throwing at it.
and for narrative reasons *i* am obsessed with this ending; in terms of storytelling i adore practically every creative decision that was made in lightfall, but i think the reason that so many people were so upset about it is because lightfall had such intense marketing and was rooted in the implication that this was the End of Days, only for us to get almost no closure, and instead so many more questions.
(there's also something to be said, i think, about the fact that the people who ARE most upset about this are like, the youtube gamer dudebros who's content is very very often rooted in the aggressive, violence-and-warfare, pvp-centric, no-interest-in-lore approach to destiny, and that the people i've seen primarily ENJOYING the narrative decisions (or at least being understanding about it) are the artists and writers and loremasters of the fandom, but i'm not quite sure,,, how to expand on that point.)

“Grampa says I’m des-desen- from Royal Knights. The only knight I like is Sir Raven, though.”
Putting that aside to deal with later, Warriors asks, “Who’s Sir Raven?”
Legend grins, the expression bright. “He’s m’ am-ancestor! I met ‘im on my second, um, third ‘venture.” He proudly holds up two, then after a moment, three tiny fingers. “It was when I went to Labrynna an’ saved Nayru! She’s th’ Oracle o’ Ages! Her dress was really pretty.” His cheeks flush and he ducks his head to hide behind his hair at the admission.
Someone coos.
“How’d you meet him then? If he’s your ancestor?”
“Oh! I went back in time an’ helped him free th’ country from a witch who took over Nayru an’ then th’ queen an’ made ev’rybody build a big tower- it was th’ queen’s plan or-ori-gi-nally,” he sounds out, “cause the guy she liked disappeared an’ she wanted him t’be able ta see it from wherever he was bu’ then th’ witch lady took over an’ made it ta power Ganon or somethin’- I dun ‘member- so we had ta fight her but we couldn’t cause she was still controllin’ the queen but then she wasn’t and she turned inta a huge spider an’-” He stops to take a deep breath.
“An’ there was webs ev’rywhere an’ it was really really gross an’ scary but Raven helped me! She grabbed me an’ it hurt real- a lot but Raven an’ Ralph helped an’ then we cut her up an’ then she blew up! An’ ev’ryone was okay an’ happy again an’ Raven said he knew I was his descend-ant even though I tried real hard ta keep it a secret but he said he was proud o’ me an’ then Nayru sent us all home t’the future an’ the portrait in my gramma an’ grampa’s house changed.”
He blinks up at them with eyes sparkling amethyst. “Grampa didn’t try ta make me be a knight ‘gain after that, which is good, cause I told ‘i’m I didn’t wanna be a knight anyways.”

what book is it, if I may ask?
Dreams of Shreds & Tatters by amanda downum 💀 its an urban horror with queer characters thats supposed to be about The King in Yellow and other lovecraftian horrors, which got me interested since ive been so into the malevolent podcast. but when i tell you this is the most pretentious mess ever written... it spends more time relating to greek myths than anything king in yellow related, not to mention its random incorporations of alice in wonderland...? and this out-of-NOWHERE recitation of, apparently, the opening to beowolf?? in its original language??? what does this have to do with anything-
and everytime characters speak in a different language the only way to understand them is to use the google translate camera, theres no contextual help or rhyme or reason. nothing is explained. not even the batshit lore connections its trying to tie together from different sources. why is dionysus mentioned more times than the king.why is the Devil Himself walking the streets of vancouver. why are all these characters so insufferable. why is liz's asexuality a seemingly throwaway line in the start of the book while her boyfriend's allosexuality is given more time and narrative attention. why is that rift not discussed or elaborated on. what the actual fuck is going on

My NeverAfter OC (warning spoilers up to ep 6ish)
Princess Catrìona
Sister of Kate Crackernuts
(Kah-tree-nah) The Scottish Gaelic name for Katherine (Kate)
The story of Kate Crackernuts
"Kate Crackernuts" is a Scottish fairy tale collected by Andrew Lang in the Orkney Islands and published in Longman's Magazine in 1889. The tale is about a princess who rescues her beautiful sister from an evil enchantment and a prince from a wasting sickness caused by dancing nightly with the fairies.
In the original version, both sisters have the name “Kate” and are the same age.
First Neverafter (Ep1-3]
Closely follows the original tale, with the dark times coming after their story ‘ended’
Both grew up in a Small forgotten kingdom bordering Jubilee
Catríona is the daughter of the King and Kate Crackernuts is the daughter of the new Queen (The Stepmother)
The Hen-wife and the Stepmother on the third try trick her into losing her beautiful head and switching it for a sheep’s one when she is 18
Kate grabbed Catríona's human head and they ran away to fend for themselves, where they came upon the kingdom of Jubilee
Kate finds that one of King Cole’s sons is sick, and goes on to watch him for three nights, following him to the Green-hill where faeries force him to dance the night away
Over three nights Kate gets the cures for her sister and the prince
Kate Crackernuts reunited Catríona with her human head and healed King Cole’s sick son from the wasting
The sick, now healed, son marries Kate and the good son marries the ill, now healed, Catríona [Their Happily Ever After]
As the war came to Jubilee they fought alongside their husbands and died on the battlefield at the age of 24
Present day post merging of the two lives:
The faeries of the Green-hill bring back Catriona into the new world
as something (the Stepmother) has reached Kate first,
they didn’t want to summon either of the princesses, but the princes have disappeared, due to Jubilee not existing, in this new version
the Mother Goose putting Old King Cole in the book, and his kingdom disappearing from the Neverafter [fairies and Catriona don’t know this]
in this world the Stepmother has stolen her human head and locked Kate away somewhere, stopping them both from escaping together
The second world Catriona had left her father’s castle on her own scared of her Stepmother who stole her head and of what the people would say of her sheep head.
Neither sister completed their set stories
Fairies task Catriona with finding the source of the stories going missing and bring it to them, for Catriona and Kate cannot have their happily ever after if their princes doesn’t exist
Throughout her journey in her second life, she has started to doubt the sincerity of the fairies, but for the major part still sees them as the preferable side and an opponent to The Stepmother
Returned around the same time as PCs despite dying much earlier than the group, the faeries were reluctant to employ a princess and spent more time trying to find other methods, the reluctance is noticeable to Catriona when she is in the in-between with the faeries of the Green-Hill
we'll see what happens in Tuffeton, but I think she would be tailing the party after hearing news of the disappearance of the massive spider that had taken the village previously
Her new body/skills
the stepmother still has her human head and in turn, Catriona now has the head of a ewe with curling horns she can use to ram her opponents. [Minotaur reskin]
she speaks with a sheepish lisp as she had to reteach herself how to speak common as she initially could only bleat when her head was stolen
she can speak to any type of sheep, and understands some goat tongue
This Catriona has been wondering the Neverafter after running away, studying magic as a force to rescue her sister, and combat the Stepmother [3rd level Fighter Eldritch Knight]
Break down of her Image
The head is of a Scottish Blackface sheep, where the ewes also have horns
The armour is believed to be dated around 1515 from Greenwich, England, and belonged to Henry VIII
The sword is a European sword dated around 1400AD
The page is from a 16th Century manuscript written in Latin, Scots, and Gaelic
Again all original art and character designs are by Giuseppe Lama

a really bleakly funny thing i have discovered and they have i think, mercifully dropped from elf lore, is how in second edition dnd the forgotten realms surface elves were established as having their word for their own race be ‘tel’quessir’ and everyone else gets to be like, ‘n’tel’quessir’
which is like fine, and then they actually define what that means and ‘tel’quessir’ means ‘people’ and ‘n’tel’quessir’ means not people and then they have a word for half-elves and the word means ALMOST PEOPLE and it’s SO BAD. IT’S SO BAD.
and as a result it comes off even more bonkers that the drow have a completely different set of words and have multiple different ways to express how xenophobic they are, and they still come off as more reasonable solely because they aren’t going around calling everyone who’s not a drow “non people” and expecting everyone to be cool with that
