Adrien Protection Squad
Tumblr media
I am a big Cat Noir/Adrien fan and no one can change my mind. I have noticed a lack of Marinette/Ladybug Salt across almost all fanfiction platforms. And if I have to make things more even on my own, then I will do it. So, here is my take on a Marinette Salt and Adrien Sugar story. Don't like, don't read.
(Marinette Salt, Alya Salt, Girl Squad Salt, Juleka Sugar.) (Takes place after the episode "Felix.")
Juleka Couffaine was not known for her voice. She was the quietest one in the entire class. And that was saying something considering that Nathaniel was in her class. Nathaniel was the definition of the silent artist type who hardly ever spoke at all. So, if Juleka was somehow quieter than him, that really did say something about her own lack of using her voice.
But, Juleka was able to use her silence as a weapon. She noticed things that others did not. Being silent enabled her to easily hide and notice the things that others would not want to be noticed.
Juleka knew many things about many people. Things that they most definitely did not want anyone to know. Such as how Sabrina secretly hated Chloe and wanted nothing more than to be away from her, but knew that her father would get in trouble with the mayor if she did. Or how while Mylene supported Ivan and Kitty Section, she was not a fan at all of rock music.
Juleka thought that she was mostly alone when it came to people that noticed things. Until she became friends with the Flower Princess herself, Vallia Garden. Vallia and her twin brother, Lyon, were visiting Paris for a while because of a program they were doing at their original school which was like an exchange program, but without an actual exchange. The twins came from Greece, bringing along two heroes from their own home country.
The government had asked White Wolf and Beautifly to come to Paris to protect the twins. Their parents were known as the most charitable people in their country. Not to mention the richest. So, the government wanted the twins to be protected. Of course, they did not know that the heroes were also the twins.
Lyon is known as the Ice Prince. He gives many cold shoulders to many people. There are very few people that he actually is comfortable talking about in a more free way. He only really talks to Adrien, Kim, Nathaniel, Marc, Kagami, and Juleka. Vallia was the friendlier one out of the two of them. She got her nickname as the Flower Princess because of her bright personality on top of her always having flowers in her hair. She liked Juleka because she preferred her quiet nature over the energetic and talkative girls like Alya and Rose.
Juleka liked finally having someone around that noticed things. And both being a part of the Girl Squad, they definitely noticed something about them. Only after the events happened because of Adrien's cousin, Felix, Vallia decided to speak to Juleka directly about what they both had noticed.
Vallia caught up with Juleka after she got back to the Liberty after she got de-akumatized. They both sat in her room on the boat in order to talk.
"Juleka, I think we both know that things might have gone a little too far with the other girls," Vallia tells her.
Juleka nods. "I didn't think that it would get this far, but it has. I can't believe she would do that on a day like this."
"We should have seen something like this coming," Vallia said. "Marinette has always been so weird when it came to Adrien."
"Not just weird," Juleka says. "But obsessed. I don't... I don't actually tell this to many people, but Luka has had a few stalkers in the past."
"Oh my gods," Vallia swore, covering her mouth with her hands.
"It's why he attends online school rather than going to a private school or going to Dupont with me," Juleka explained. "Between his good looks and his musical talent, not to mention people noticing how much he looks like Jagged Stone, a lot of girls have stalked him in the past."
"I'm so sorry," Vallia felt so bad for them since Luka really was such a sweet guy.
"Luka has managed to deal with it and the stalkers all eventually were given restraining orders to keep them away from him," Juleka said. "But, having experience with stalkers really does give me perspective on the whole 'Adrinette' situation."
"It's just too creepy what Marinette is doing," Vallia says. "I have had this bad feeling ever since 'Operation Secret Garden' started."
"The schedule, right," Juleka already knew what Vallia was thinking when it came to what the Girl Squad had been shown that day.
"I highly doubt that Adrien told her his entire schedule," Vallia says. "Especially his schedule for three years into the future. She either followed him around, got it online, or used both. No matter how it is put, it is really creepy. I have no idea how Rose finds it romantic."
"I don't know, either," Juleka sighed.
"And do not get me started on all those presents that she has for him," Vallia got up and started pacing back and forth in Juleka's room. "She has gifts to give him up to when he is turning fifty. What in the name of Hades would make anyone think that is a sane thing to do?"
"It's also one thing to imagine a future to have with someone, but Marinette really does make it very creepy," Juleka added. "She not only has named all their kids, but also planned out how many they will have, what they will look like,  and even what their interests would be. She also specifically says that they would have a hamster as well. As much as any girl fantasizes about what their life would be like with the person they feel that they are in love with, Marinette's fantasy is really just adding to her creepy obsession."
"Plus, if she ever actually did end up with Adrien and had kids, I fear what she would do and how she would act if they were not what she imagined," Vallia says. "She actually plans for them all to be blond while having her blue eyes. The odds of all their kids being blond with blue eyes are extremely low. If any of her kids ended up the opposite, as in having her dark hair with Adrien's green eyes, she might outright reject them for not meeting the fantasy that she created in her head."
"Chloe might cling to him a lot and proclaim her love for him constantly, but not even she ever went as far as Marinette does," Juleka said. "I never thought that I would say anything good about Chloe."
"Well, you have to admit that even with her still trying to get back the bee miraculous, she has been doing better, lately," Vallia admitted.
"I'm just remembering all the times that both Chloe and Adrien have said how they are each other's childhood friends," Juleka said. "Out of everyone, Chloe would be the one that would probably sympathize with Adrien the most since she would have also known his mother."
Vallia nodded. "Not even Chloe would do something as selfish and cruel as Marinette did. Today is the anniversary of when Adrien's mother disappeared. We all wanted to send Adrien sweet messages to let him know that we care about him and that we were here for him on a day like this."
"And yet Marinette used it to send him a love confession," Juleka clenched her hands into fists really tightly.
"YES," Vallia started pacing again, really pissed off. "Adrien must have been feeling more depressed and sad than he ever has other than the day this mom actually went missing. What he needed were support and friends. And what does Marinette do? Take advantage of his vulnerability to try and confess her so-called love to him. What type of person does that to someone when they are vulnerable like that?"
"What do you think we should do," Juleka asked the Flower Princess, who was definitely not looking very much like her nickname at that moment.
"I think... I think we need to tell Adrien everything we know," Vallia stated.
"WHAT," Juleka yelled, probably rocking the entire houseboat when she did. "Are you serious? This could destroy Adrien. He sees Marinette as one of his best friends. If he finds out what she's done, this could destroy him and his ability to trust others."
"You are correct about that, Juleka," Vallia sighed. "But, it's better than leaving him in the dark. If he doesn't know, then he will continue to hang out with Marinette. He will continue to sit in front of her in class. And most importantly, he will be unable to avoid Alya's attempts to get him and Marinette together since he would have no clue that they would even be attempts to do that."
"It would fuel more into Marinette's obsession with him," Juleka knew that Vallia did have a point. "But, would Adrien be able to properly recover from something he would probably see as the ultimate betrayal?"
"If he has real friends with him, he could," Vallia says. "Friends that he would know in his heart would never treat him like that. It will be hard for him, but it will be better once he has an actual support system."
"Should we tell any of the others," Juleka asked her. "None of the other girls would ever get on board with this, but what about the guys? Or those outside our class?"
"I tell Lyon everything and he is a good friend to Adrien," Vallia knew she could trust her twin. "So, he would definitely be my first choice to help us protect Adrien."
"I have noticed that he does not like Marinette or Alya very much," Juleka showed how observant she was again. "And since you two are also rich, Adrien would know that neither of you would even dream of trying to use him for your own gain."
Vallia nodded again. "What about the other boys, though? I know that Nino pretty much follows Alya's lead when it comes to Adrien and Marinette ending up together."
"I think the guys would actually be on Adrien's side," Juleka says. "They did throw that amazing party that ended up attacked by that Party Crasher akuma."
"Hawkmoth really did not even try to come up with an original name that time," Vallia rolled her eyes.
"Tell me about it," Juleka agreed with Vallia.
"Well, we can definitely count on Kim to side with us and Adrien," Vallia said. "He is a lot smarter than people give him credit for."
"It also helps that as your boyfriend, you have probably ranted to him a lot about how much the girls were annoying you and creeping you out," Juleka smirked as she said it.
Vallia blushed. "You're lucky that you're correct and you're too cute for me to slap."
"You love me and you know it," Juleka giggled.
Vallia rolled her eyes again and got back on track.
"Lyon, Kim, and the other guys would certainly be on our side," she said. "While the guys are not as close with each other as the girls are, they are all still friends. And given that Party Crasher party, they obviously also care about Adrien."
"Nathaniel, Marc, Ivan, and Max may not know Adrien as well as Nino, Kim, and Lyon do, but they are still his friends," Juleka said. "Plus, Adrien is also an honorary member of Kitty Section even when he can not play with us because of his contract with Gabriel Fashion, so that does make Ivan loyal to him since he sees Adrien as a bandmate."
"Adrien has also actually been helping Nathaniel and Marc with their comic," Vallia tells her. "It turns out that Adrien loves anime, so when Nathaniel and Marc were having difficulties thinking of how to draw updated costumes for Ladybug and Cat Noir, Adrien helped them get some ideas by using his anime knowledge."
"I am... not actually surprised that Adrien loves anime," Juleka giggled.
"It does actually make sense," Vallia says. "Given that Gabriel is about as neglectful as a father can get, Adrien would probably have been raised more by Disney, cartoons, and anime than he would have been by his own father."
"Does Lyon still have that folder of evidence that he plans to use to get Adrien out of that house when it gets too much for Adrien," Juleka asked her.
"That folder has become a binder because of how much evidence that Lyon has gathered," Vallia stated. "He is waiting for the day when Gabriel pushes Adrien too hard. And given Gabriel hiring Lila when that girl is the least likely person to be a model ever, it won't be long. I mean, have you seen her hair? She looks like she has sausages dangling from her head. And that is not even touching on the fact that burnt orange is one of the WORST colors ever."
Juleka could not stop herself from laughing when Vallia said that. She may be known as the Flower Princess, but she could definitely be savage when she wanted to be. It was probably one of the few things that actually made people realize that Lyon and Vallia were siblings. Both of them could seriously smack talk like nobody's business. Neither of them started fights, but they sure as hell ended them with how great they are at verbally slapping people. Not even Chloe ever tried messing with them.
"So, we will most likely have all the boys on our side other than Nino," Juleka summarized.
Vallia nodded. "Do you think that we should try and get adults on our side as well? I mean, adults would probably be able to do more than a group of normal teens."
Juleka thought for a moment. "I... I'm not sure who we should get on our side in terms of adults. Since there will probably be legal stuff involved with his, my Ma is out. I love her, but everyone knows how much my Ma and Sabrina's dad do not get along."
"That's an understatement," Vallia knew very well how much the pirate mom and the policeman hate each other. "My dad is also out as well since he still speaks very little French. There has to be someone we can go to."
"This is definitely making me realize how much the authority figures in our lives have let us down," Juleka says. "Bustier is a nice teacher, but it is a toxic form of nice since he is always letting the bullies get away with their behavior while telling their victims to forgive the bullies even when the bullies are not sorry at all. And we all know that when it comes to Damocles, he is about as spineless as a person can get. Especially to those with money."
"Though, in a case like this, that can work in our favor," Vallia admitted. "Adrien, Lyon, and I are all rich, so Damocles would bend over backward to help us."
"Well, it would be less of helping us and more just doing what we want," Juleka said.
"Same difference," Vallia stated.
"I honestly think the best we can do is protect Adrien as best we can on our own," Juleka admitted. "Since Gabriel would probably just end up pulling Adrien from school, which is the last thing Adrien would want, we are definitely not getting him involved. Plus, I highly doubt that Bustier would do anything since she is always preaching about 'love' and 'friendship' and everything else that makes her sound like a kindergarten teacher."
"That woman has on the biggest rose-tinted glasses that I have ever seen in my life," Vallia shook her head. "It doesn't really help with the fact that it is a boy that is the victim. Gender equality may have come a long way, but that doesn't stop how guys are often ignored whenever they are the victims of a girl. During any type of rape prevention lesson, people are always talking about girls needing to protect themselves, but they hardly mention boys as anything other than the bad guy in any scenario. Guys can be victims just like girls can. Just like how you just told me how Luka has previously had stalkers."
Juleka nodded sadly. "I have seen firsthand how hard it is for guys to get any type of justice against a female assailant. Luka had to give so much evidence against the girls that no one could deny that he was actually the victim."
"It really is going to be up to us to protect Adrien," Vallia said.
But that was when Juleka's bedroom door opened suddenly, making both of the girls nearly jump out of their skin. Thankfully, it was just Luka. But, from the look on his face, they both guessed that he might have heard what they were talking about. And from how his eyes looked, he seemed to have been crying as well. Juleka knew that Luka had been crushing on Marinette. So, hearing them talk about the type of person she really is must have been like a punch to the heart.
"Luka..." Juleka tried to talk.
"How can I help," was the first thing that came out of his mouth.
Vallia smiled as they gained their first ally to protect Adrien.
*****
To say that the boys were confused would be an understatement. Luka had texted Ivan, saying that he had wanted him to come to the Liberty to look at a new song he wrote. Kim was texted by Vallia, asking him to come to the Liberty with Max so that Luka and Juleka could also play Max's akuma villain game. Nathaniel and Marc were texted by Juleka, asking them to come over since she had an idea for their comic. Lyon had just come with his sister simply because Vallia told him what was going on. She did have to lock up his bow and arrows to keep him from going after Marinette, Alya, and the rest of the Girl Squad.
The boys were all sitting in the living room of the Liberty, which actually was a lot cozier than others would think given how much Anarka really did act like a pirate. Often saying how making a mess was a way of life to her. But even then, the houseboat really was a cozy and fun place to visit. Or live, in the case of the Couffaine family.
"You guys would not happen to know why we're all here at the same time, would you," Ivan asked the rest of them.
"Unless all of you also wanted to try out my video game, I have a zero percent chance of knowing that is happening," Max said.
"Juleka texted Marc and me, saying that she had an idea for our comic that she thought we would like," Nathaniel says.
"Luka texted me and asked me to check on a song he wrote," Ivan only got more confused.
"Vallia pretty much just dragged me here," Lyon shrugged. "Not until after she locked up my bow and arrows. She gave me a lowdown of what was happening, but I do not have every detail."
"Well, if she didn't let you bring your bow, then it probably has something to do with either Chloe or Lila," Kim chuckled. "They are the only ones other than Hawkmoth that you threaten to shoot with that thing."
"I may not be White Wolf, but I am still perfectly willing to shoot anyone that pushes me too far," Lyon smirked.
He may actually be the wolf miraculous holder, but it helped to say little lies here and there to keep his secret. Vallia also had to do the same thing to keep her identity as Beautifly a secret as well. They did not like lying. But, in some cases, it is just unavoidable where lying is the only thing they can do to keep their loved ones safe.
Vallia, Juleka, and Luka all then walked into the room. Luka took a seat with the rest of the boys as Vallia and his sister stood in front of them all.
"Our apologies for bringing you all here under false pretenses," Vallia started. "But, we needed you all here because we need your help."
"Are you two okay," Kim jumped to his feet, worried for his friend and girlfriend.
"Kim, sweetie, we're fine," Vallia had to gently get him back in his seat. "Juleka and I have talked about it at great length and we... and we need to stop Marinette, Alya, and the other girls."
"Stop them," Marc was confused. "From what?"
"We want to end this entire 'Adrienette' thing," Juleka stated.
"You mean by finally getting them together in order to stop those crazy plans Mylene is always telling me about," Ivan guessed.
"Hades, no," Vallia practically looked insulted at the idea of actually bringing Adrien and Marinette together.
"What we mean is that we feel... No... we KNOW that Marinette is probably the worst person on the planet for Adrien," Juleka had never sounded so blunt in her life.
"Huh," they made all the boys, except Lyon and Luka, get even more confused.
"You all know that when it comes to Adrien, Marinette can be crazy," Vallia said, the boys all nodding at that. "But, Marinette might be literally crazy. Juleka and I have been with the 'Girl Squad' for a while now and both of us have realized that when it comes to Adrien... Marinette is basically a stalker."
The boys all gasped at that. Though, most of them did not look like they believed the girls.
"We know that this may be hard to believe," Vallia started. "Especially since we know that Kim, Max, and Nathaniel have all been with Marinette for years in class. But, this is serious and we are not joking at all. Marinette has gone way too far with her crush. It's not even a real crush anymore. It's an obsession. A really unhealthy obsession."
"What exactly has Marinette done," Lyon asked them. "You did not exactly give me details when you dragged me here, Vallia."
"Marinette has just gone way off the deep end," Vallia says. "She has Adrien's entire schedule written down for the next THREE YEARS! Adrien certainly did not tell her that, because there is no way he would tell anyone his entire schedule for that far into the future. So, Marinette either gathered all the info online or followed him in order to learn it. Either way, it is extremely disturbing."
"Marinette also has gifts for Adrien," Juleka said. "And while that is sweet to think about at first, it is not sweet at all at the lengths she went. These gifts are all labeled, signed, and meant to be given to him for birthdays and Christmas for years to come. Even when he is turning fifty, she has a present for him. It's one thing to want to get someone a present early if they forgot a previous special occasion, but definitely not in the way Marinette does it."
"And while we feel that the girls should have been at least told about the all-boys party you guys wanted to throw for Adrien while his father was away," Vallia started again. "It was still wrong of Marinette to put on a disguise and basically break into Adrien's house that way just to be a part of the party."
"She did what," the boys gasped, having not known Marinette did that.
"Later," Juleka waved her hand to signal that they could talk about that later.
"It's just been made really clear to us that Marinette has gone off the deep end and needs to be kept away from Adrien," Vallia stated. "It's creepy, invasive, obsessive, and there could be a time where she might even end up arrested because of the lengths that she is willing to go to be close to him."
"She... She did only try out for the Mega Strikes tournament because of Adrien," Max remembered. "I will admit that being akumatized into Gamer because I was beaten by a girl was sexist of me, but Marinette had only wanted to be in the tournament because of Adrien."
"She also did try and give Adrien Luka's guitar when Jagged Stone came looking for a new guitarist," Ivan said. "That guitar means everything to Luka and she tried to just give it to Adrien even when she was well aware that Adrien plays piano, not guitar."
"There is also when Kagami's mother was akumatized," Nathaniel says. "Alix told me about how Alya and Marinette had planned for Marinette to sabotage her and Kagami's chances at the Friendship Game just because she was jealous of how close Kagami and Adrien were getting. So, she wanted to stop Kagami from winning the game even when Kagami really was just trying to make friends."
They all could not help but look at Nathaniel in weird ways. They had no idea how he had known Kagami's real reason for joining the game. Especially since they doubted that Alix knew that reason. So, Marc actually spoke up and answered their unasked questions.
"I hang around the fencing team a lot," he explained. "It helps me to write better fight scenes when I actually witness things like that. It's also why I always watch the Ladyblog whenever Alya uploads another akuma fight. So, I actually do know a number of the members of the fencing team, including Kagami. So, I told Nathaniel about it after he learned from Alix what Marinette tried to do."
They all nodded, understanding Marc's reasoning.
"Speaking of Kagami, Vallia and I were also at that movie premiere that Adrien took Kagami to," Lyon said. "We both saw that because of how jealous she got, Marinette actually teamed up with Chloe in order to sabotage Kagami. Kagami might be slightly cold and is also called the 'Ice Queen' by most people, but nobody deserves that kind of treatment."
"Marinette actually teamed up with Chloe," Ivan showed how shocked they all were.
"That is how jealous she gets," Lyon stated. "Only even getting worse when you remember that Kagami has never actually done anything to Marinette in the few times that interacted. It could have gotten a lot worse if Vallia and I had not been secretly interfering with their plans."
"Kagami is nice when you actually get to know her, as Marc has just proven," Vallia says. "So, she definitely did not deserve to be treated like that out of something as stupid as jealousy."
"I also have not gotten over how Marinette and Alya treated Juleka when Marinette tried to start her own website," Luka crossed his arms. "I know that Marinette apologized, but that still does not excuse everything that happened. I have been trying to get Juleka to come out of her shell for a long time. And yet the one time she does, it once again all becomes part of a plan to get Marinette and Adrien together."
Juleka looked at the others in the room. She had not told her brother the full story of what had happened. Both because she knew about his growing crush on Marinette as well as because he was always very protective of her. She knew that Luka would definitely have been pissed if he had learned about everything that had happened. He was a very gentle soul, but he also could raise hell if he was made angry enough. And upsetting his loved ones was really the only way to make him that angry.
"Alright, which one of you told him about that," she asked the group.
Without any hesitation, Lyon was the one that raised his hand.
"I regret nothing," he stated.
"I should have known," Juleka facepalmed.
"Well, I happen to agree that it was very wrong with how they treated you," Lyon stated. "No offense, but you are still a very naturally shy person. So, actually volunteering to model is a big step for you. That only makes it worse that you were basically forgotten by them the moment that Adrien was brought into the picture."
"That definitely seems to be a thing with Marinette," Vallia stated. "Whenever Adrien is involved, I don't think that she can see or notice anything else."
"And being honest, I doubt Marinette would ever actually have any chance with Adrien," Juleka, of all people, said.
That certainly got their attention. Of all people in the room, they did not think that it would be Juleka out of all of them that would say something like that. As someone that had been in the same class as Juleka for quite a few years, Kim had to pinch himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming.
"As much as I agree with you, Juleka, what makes you say it," Lyon asked her.
Juleka looked shy at all the attention on her, but she answered anyway.
"Well, it has been almost a full year since we have all met Adrien," Juleka explained. "Even those that were excited, shocked, or nervous about sharing a class with a known teen model, we have all calmed down and seen him as a person. But, Marinette has not changed at all about him. She is still a complete stuttering mess that can not form a single real sentence when talking to him. I don't think that she sees Adrien as anything other than the perfect model that his father makes him be all the time."
"I actually agree with Juleka about that," Nathaniel says. "It turns out that Kagami is really great at drawing. So, Adrien has been taking her to the art club, lately. He is always doing his best to get her to laugh because of how serious Kagami always is. He likes to joke around, make puns, and is generally probably one of the biggest anime fans that I have ever met. He is the complete opposite of the 'perfect model' that Marinette fell in 'love' with."
"If what she does is love, then I am glad most girls are scared away by my Ice Prince persona," Lyon stated.
"It also helps that you are gay," Vallia added.
"That too," Lyon agreed with his twin.
It was definitely shocking just how much this situation was causing. But nothing was more shocking than how it was causing Juleka and Nathaniel, the two most quiet people in their entire class, to be the ones that were being the most vocal about Marinette and her obsession. Though, they guessed that being so quiet meant that they definitely could see things that others did not because no one ever notices quiet ones like them.
"So, what exactly are we going to do," Ivan asked Juleka and Vallia since they were obviously the ones in charge of all of this.
"And why is Nino not here," Kim asked. "Shouldn't he also be here since this clearly involves his best friend?"
"We would have invited him, but he knows about everything that Marinette and Alya have done and yet never did anything about it," Vallia says. "For all that he says that he cares about Adrien and is his best friend, he certainly does not seem to care about how obviously obsessive that Marinette is."
The boys did not look as convinced as they had been when talking about Marinette's faults. But, at the same time, they did not really have any evidence to argue against them.
"As for what we are going to do," Vallia started. "We have talked about it and we feel that Adrien needs to be told everything that has been going on."
That was definitely a shock to the guys. They were all aware of how nice Adrien was, even to the point where he was a little naive, so they did not think he would react very well to hearing about this. They worried about how Adrien would react when he would be told.
"Are you two sure that he should be told," Luka asked them. "I know that I probably know Adrien the least out of everyone here since I am not in your class, but even I know this will definitely hit him really hard."
"It is a risk, but Adrien deserves to know," Vallia stated. "If Adrien doesn't know, he will still hang out with Nino, Alya, and Marinette. And that would usually end up with him landing right in the middle of probably even more 'Adrinette' plans that the Girl Squad will set up."
"As much as this will probably hurt Adrien, it is better he learns this now rather than later," Lyon agreed with his sister. "And as long as we let Adrien know that we are his real friends, that will definitely help him heal from the damage that learning about all of this will cause him."
The group all nodded, knowing that it was the truth. They just hoped that Adrien would not be akumatized over it. Because they were sure that if he was, then he would probably become the strongest akuma that Hawkmoth would have ever created.
*****
It turned out worse than an akuma. Adrien was a complete and utter wreck who seemed to have shut down everything other than his tears.
He was currently sandwiched between Luka and Lyon as the two boys were doing their best to comfort him. While it was Juleka and Vallia that had told him, their brothers had come along to be able to be there for the blond since they knew he would react like this. And Adrien definitely needed it.
Almost as soon as Vallia and Juleka were done, Adrien looked on the verge of either passing out or breaking down. Through a very shaky tone, he asked if they had proof of what they were saying. Neither of the girls was offended since they understood that Adrien really would want proof of someone he considered a great friend acting like that before he made any real decisions.
It was a good thing that Vallia had taken photos of everything in order to have proof. She showed Adrien everything she had. Marinette's wall of pictures of him, of the entire schedule she had for him, all of the presents, and there was also a video that she took when Marinette had been on one of her rants about their "future" together. Adrien had lasted about two seconds after seeing all of it before completely breaking down.
Lyon and Luka both comforted Adrien as best they could, understanding that someone like Adrien probably just had his heart completely broken. This was probably the first time that he ever really felt a sting of betrayal like this. Not even just from Marinette, but also from Alya, Nino, and the other girls in their class as well.
"I don't... I can't... Why did... How could..." Adrien could not form a single sentence as he sobbed.
"We knew that we had to tell you the moment that we knew Marinette had gone too far," Vallia tells him. "We couldn't let this continue."
"We are so sorry about this, Adrien," Juleka says. "You do not deserve to be treated like this by those you call friends. You are a person, not some type of prize to be won."
"I just... I have always talked about how much I hate fangirls and fanatics in general," Adrien managed to actually talk. "There have been times where girls have often tried sneaking onto photoshoots or breaking into my dressing room. Some have even tried stalking me to the point of attempting to break into the mansion. They terrify me. How could they do this to me?"
"We can try and sugar coat it for you, but that would not be helpful at all," Lyon said. "The only answer that we can give in general would be that Marinette has always had this obsession with you. And with you ending up in the same class as her, it only ended up with the obsession growing."
"You have made it clear that you want a normal life," Luka says. "I have heard from both you and your real friends how much you hate modeling. Your song is also very telling about how much you crave and hope for a normal life."
"I've just grown so tired of it all," Adrien looked and sounded so exhausted of his life. "I'm tired of running from crowds of fans, tired of having to be perfect all the time just to please my father, tired of having to look over my shoulder to see if anyone is following me, tired of never being able to hang out with my friends like a normal teen. I would give anything to be normal."
"We know that, and you have told them that, but the real problem was that they just refused to listen," Vallia said.
"You deserve better than that," Lyon tells him. "Vallia and I know more than others how hard it is to always be in the spotlight. People want to get close to us just so they might get either one of the gems in our family vault, an exotic animal from the sanctuary as a pet, or a rare plant. It's the hardest thing to really find those that want to be around us for no reason at all."
"We wanted you to know that we would be here for you," Luka says.
"I don't... know what to do," Adrien admitted. "While I have had stalkers in the past, this is the first time that it is someone I actually know."
"You do not have to do anything," Juleka places a hand on his shoulder. "We are going to be here to keep them away from you."
"I guess you can call us the Adrien Protection Squad," Vallia giggled.
"Did Lyon already threaten to shoot them with arrows," Adrien managed a small chuckle.
"I wanted to, but Vallia wouldn't let me bring my bow and arrows when she and Juleka told us about everything that was going on," Lyon admitted. "They are lucky that I am not White Wolf. Otherwise, we would be looking at some new ice statues in town."
Vallia had to convince her brother not to use his hero identity to seek revenge. Lyon had been very tempted to. If there is one thing that a wolf does, it's protect its pack. Over time, most miraculous users do tend to get more like the animal that their miraculous is themed after. It is one of the reasons why Vallia is always so good with plants given her butterfly qualities. So, Lyon was getting more like a wolf every day. Those like Ladybug, Cat Noir, Hawkmoth, and Mayura have not used their miraculous long enough for the same side effects to happen to them.
"You can be scary sometimes," Luka says. "I hope that you know that."
"Says the guy that can hear the heart songs of everyone he comes across," Lyon countered. "I've met empaths before and they are no joke."
"I think that it is really clear that we are the normal ones in our families," Vallia tells Juleka, who giggled in response.
"My mom thinks that she is a pirate on top of my brother being an empath," Juleka says. "I've always known that I am the normal one."
Adrien was able to smile at how they were all interacting with each other. Them being so normal was helping him adjust to what he had just learned about his other supposed friends. They were not treating him as if he was made of glass nor were they treating him with pity. Yes, they were worried about him and wanted him safe, but they did not do it in a way that made him feel as if he could not take care of himself.
"School is tomorrow," Adrien suddenly says. "I don't... I don't think that I can normal around any of them."
"You don't need to be," Vallia said. "You just try and go about your day as normally as possible while the rest of us run interference. But at the same time, you do not have to hide how you feel about them. You are your own person and they do not have the right to try and force you to be with Marinette just because she is obsessed with you and yet they only see it as a simple crush."
"You have no need to worry as long as the rest of us are around," Lyon tells him.
"Thanks, guys," Adrien smiled at them.
*****
The next day at school, it was definitely obvious to a lot of people outside of Bustier's class that something had changed for the nicknamed "Akuma Class." They saw that except for Nino, every other guy in the class almost seemed to form a barrier around Adrien as soon as the teen model arrived.
After having been given permission from Adrien to tell others, Marc told his friends Aurore, Ondine, Jean, and Mirelle from his class about what was going on. They all agreed to help keep Adrien away from Marinette and the other members of the "Girl Squad" during things like lunch, recess, and other general things where all classes were together instead of separated.
Even in the actual classroom, things had definitely changed. While being supported by Vallia and Lyon, Adrien went to Bustier and requested to change where he was seated. When he told their teacher that he was no longer comfortable where he was sitting, or with who he was sitting close to, she allowed him to change where he was sitting. Adrien chose to sit in the back, next to Lyon.
Adrien moving also had the rest of his "protection squad" moving as well. Vallia, who had been previously next to her brother, moved to be next to Juleka in front of where Lyon and Adrien now were. Max and Kim sat in front of them while they allowed Chloe and Sabrina to stay in their usual seats in the front. Nathanial and Ivan were not sitting next to each other at the desk on the other side of the aisle from where Lyon and Adrien were. They wanted to keep all the girls that remained in the Girl Squad away from Adrien.
It was definitely a shock to the rest of the class when they came in. Chloe looked like she wanted to say something since she was farther away from Adrien than before. But one look from Adrien made her be quiet. Marinette was the one that looked the most upset. If it was not for the fact that she had made it to class with barely a minute to spare, she could not come up to Adrien to ask why he and the other guys had moved.
Rose also looked upset because Juleka had nothing to say about Vallia taking her place next to the goth. Lyon's icy glare also did not go missed by them at all. And since he got back his bow and arrows from where his sister had hidden them, he was a lot more dangerous.
When their class had ended, Marinette had almost made a complete beeline for Adrien. But the guys had rushed Adrien out so quickly that he had basically been a blur. Lyon, Vallia, and Juleka all stayed behind so that they could confront the other girls over what was now going to be happening from now on.
They kept the girls in the classroom, only allowing Chloe and Sabrina to leave since they were not involved in the girl squad drama.
"We have something to say to you all," Vallia said.
The girls were definitely shocked. Especially since for the first time since they had known her, Juleka was standing tall and proud. There was barely a hint of her usual shyness.
"What are you talking about," Alya was the one to ask them.
"We are talking about how you all have gotten way too far when it comes to Marinette's obsession with Adrien," Vallia answered.
"I am not obsessed," Marinette looked like she wanted to yell at them, but did not. "I'm in love with him. There is nothing wrong with love."
"If what you have been doing is love, then I want no part in that," Juleka stated.
"Juleka, why would you say such a thing," Rose looked hurt and shocked. "Marinette and Adrien will be so beautiful together."
"That fantasy is going to stay a fantasy," Lyon crossed his arms. "I have met my fair share of stalkers in the past, but you all take the cake. Especially you, Marinette."
"Stalker! How dare you call my bestie a stalker," Alya looked ready to punch Lyon.
"He's calling it as he sees it," Vallia said. "Besides, there is no better way to describe Marinette. The wall of pictures, the screensaver on her computer and her phone, the box of presents, the schedule. She is a stalker and you are all doing nothing but enabling that toxic behavior."
"I am not a stalker," Marinette protested. "I did all of that because I love him. He is just so perfect in every..."
"He doesn't want to be perfect," Juleka interrupted her. "Adrien has said time and time again that he hates everything his father makes him do, especially making him act perfect all the time just because it is 'good for the brand.' He would do anything to just be normal."
"It's awful that you have the gall to claim that you love him when you do not even seem to care about what he wants," Vallia says. "Everything that you have done that you say is because you love him is all the same stuff that a stalker would say. They all claim to be in love with their targets with most of them even delusional about being in a relationship with them. Just like your made-up fantasy future with him."
"You're crazy," Lyon was blunt, to say the least. "If I had been Adrien, I would have moved the other side of the planet to get away from people like you."
Marinette had the gall to look like she was gonna cry at the things they were saying. Alya comforted her while glaring at the three of them.
"I can not believe that you three are acting like this," she was definitely pissed. "After everything we did to get Marinette and Adrien together."
"Have you ever once tried to ask about what Adrien might want," Juleka also crossed her arms. "Did it ever cross your minds that Adrien has a say in this as well? He might not even be interested in her that way. And considering how often he calls her 'just a friend,' then I say that he has already made his feelings really clear."
"Just because he is a guy does not mean he has to automatically be into Marinette simply because she is a girl that likes him," Lyon stated. "He is allowed to like her that way or not. And I highly doubt that he is going to want to have anything to do with her from now on."
"What did you do," Marinette shouted at them.
"We told Adrien everything," Vallia said.
"WHAT," the rest of the Girl Squad yelled.
"Why would you do such a thing," Mylene looked so shocked and scared.
"For someone that thinks that Marinette and Adrien are made for each other, you sure look scared about him learning about your actions," Lyon said.
"What you had done was not okay in any way, shape, or form," Vallia continued. "Everything that you have done is nothing other than showing that we are right about you being a stalker that is obsessed with Adrien. So, yes, we told him everything."
"And just as we knew what would happen, he was horrified, betrayed, and probably the most upset that we have ever seen him," Juleka says. "His heart was broken when he found out what you all had done. Especially Marinette. He thought she was a really good friend, but he now has seen her true colors."
"What you did was not cool," Alix glared at them.
"What was not cool was everything you guys and Marinette have done," Lyon said. "Not even just all the matchmaking plans, the schedule, and the presents, but everything else as well. Marinette, you teamed up with CHLOE because you were jealous of Kagami. Kagami never did anything to you and yet you tried to sabotage her because Adrien likes her."
"She is not the right girl for him," Marinette tried to protest.
"That is not for you to decide," Lyon yelled at her. "Adrien is his own person with his own desires. If he wants to like Kagami, then he has every right to. Especially if she likes him back. Real love is a two-way street."
"And what you did during the anniversary of his mother's disappearance was awful," Vallia said. "That was the day he needed our love and support the most. But you then made it all about you by taking advantage of his vulnerability in order to send a confession message to him. As much as we hate his other actions, Felix deleting those videos was the best thing he probably ever did in his life. Adrien did not deserve to have your selfish actions make that day even worse for him."
"I can't believe you three turned your back on us like this," Alya looked like she really wanted to punch them.
"I love him," Marinette was still showing her delusional state of mind. "I haven't done anything wrong."
"The sad part about that is how you actually believe all of that," Juleka said.
"Adrien knows everything," Lyon reminds them. "You are just lucky he doesn't want to bring up charges, which he is legally allowed to do because of your actions. Hopefully Adrien will actually be able to heal from this with the rest of us helping him."
"Time to wake up and smell the roses of reality," Vallia tells the girls. "Your ship had not only sank but it was sucked into a whirlpool never to see the light of day again."
The three of them then left the classroom, leaving the girls to try to plan more things to get Adrien and Marinette together. All plans that will be doomed to fail.
Not, the three only had one thing left to worry about.
And that would be trying to figure out how to stop Kagami from killing the entire Girl Squad when she learns what they did.

Scarlet Lady: Kung Food
Directory - La Befana
“Of course I know enough Chinese to greet him, Alya! That's not the problem!” Marinette said, going back and forth at her home's main hall, a complete bundle of nerves.
Today, Maman's uncle, Wang Cheng, was coming to Paris. It would make her nervous even if it were just that – but her great uncle was actually a very famous chef, who had come to Paris to participate in an international cooking contest. And, worse of all, he didn't speak French, so she had been forced to brush up her Mandarin with Maman's help.
“So what is the problem?” Alya asked.
“The problem is that I'm so nervous about meeting my world-class great uncle that I keep flubbing the pronunciation!”
“So?”
“So, pronunciation in Chinese is the difference between asking 'How are you' and calling someone a horse!”
“Chill out, M! I know what to do, just hang tight,” she replied, and suddenly the communication stopped.
“... she hung up on me!” Marinette said, shocked at the betrayal.
And, right on cue, someone called on the doorbell.
She opened the door, and saw a man of clear Chinese origin, with close-cut hair, thick eyebrows, a thin moustache and solid complexion. She noticed his resemblance to Maman: clearly, this was her great uncle, Wang Cheng.
“你好,” the man greeted. She was glad she could understand at least a basic sentence as 'hello'.
“Welcome Marinese, you're Chinette!” She internally yelled as she realized she had once more mixed up words. “Agh! I mean – welcome to Marinette's, you're Chinese...?”
Oh, right.
“Ah, er, no, in Mandarin...” she muttered, trying to remember the words. She offered him the bouquet of flowers she held in her hands as she welcomed him. “歡迎來到這個家!”
No good, I'm too nervous!
Her great uncle either didn't seem to notice her nerves or did not pay any mind to it, as he nodded while taking the bouquet.
At least he might appreciate my gi–
And then he plucked one of the roses.
He's destroying it?! He hates me already!!
Not a good beginning.
Still, she bid him inside, and led him to the main hall – where she realized that she now had another problem: with the language barrier, there was no way to even make small talk!
Her great uncle silently thanked her and sat down, leaving everything in an awkward silence that lasted for a couple of minutes before the doorbell rang again.
“I'll get it!” she shouted, eager for something to break the awkwardness, and she all but ran for the door.
“H-Hi Marinette!”
“Adrien?!” she asked, shocked. Here was Adrien, wearing a nice jumper and panting a little.
“Alya called saying you needed someone who speaks Chinese?” And he bowed. “I am at your service!”
“Really?!” God, Alya had saved her, and was sending her a miracle in the form of a friend! “Thank you, Adrien! You sure got here fast too!”
“Oh, uh, I was just in the neighborhood,” he replied.
----
He wasn't going to tell her that he had run all the way from his house.
----
The car meant to take Wang Cheng to the Grand Paris Hotel for the competition arrived, and the two teens piled in with the cook, who sat in the middle of the backseat.
“程師傅, 你是第一次來巴黎嗎?” Adrien asked. Marinette wasn't certain, but she thought he was asking about coming to Paris for the first time.
“哦, 我很久以前來過一次,” Wang Cheng replied.
Something about being here before?
“You speak very well!”
Marinette felt her eyes were about to pop out, because that had been her great uncle who had spoken.
“Much better than my French,” Wang Cheng continued, unaware of the whiplash he had just given her.
“I didn't know you spoke French!” Adrien said, just as surprised as she was.
“Very bad! My French is very bad!” Wang Cheng replied, apologetically.
Marinette pouted. All this fear that she would screw up, and it turned out that her great uncle could speak French just fine?
“Mood.”
----
“On 'The World's Greatest Chef', the best culinary masters from around the globe have been blowing our minds with their creations!” the speaker stated, clearly passionate about the event, as the view of the Grand Paris Hotel switched to the arrival of Wang Cheng and his companions. “Only one will win the title of World's Greatest Chef! The winner's dish will also become the new Mayor's Special at Le Grand Paris' menu!”
----
“Cheng Shifu!” the mayor said. “It's a joy and an honor to have you on the show's finale!”
Marinette looked awkwardly; the mess with Rogercop and the man's utter lack of initiative during Darkblade's attack were still in her mind. Never mind everything about Chloé.
“It's so uncomfortable when he's nice. He even called him Shifu!” she said, and Adrien nodded in agreement. “Sorry for wasting your time, Adrien. Maman never told me he spoke French...”
“Hey, I got to practice my Chinese!” he said. He was so nice, seeing the silver lining in most things! “And I got to see you.”
Before she could react to that, came the world's earsore, just as painful as it was during classroom time.
“O-ho! So it's your uncle competing, Marinette Dupain-Cheng?” Chloé said. “Only a loser would try to compete with soup! As a judge, I'll be sure to fail him~”
Chloé was a judge? If she didn't know the Mayor, she would have wondered what the hell the Mayor was smoking. Instead, she just turned up the heat.
“Well, it's a good thing there are 4 other judges with better taste than you!” she shouted, poking Chloé on the chest.
“Hey! Adrien, are you gonna let her talk to me like that?!”
Adrien looked on, arms crossed, and looking at Chloé with confusion.
“Did she say something wrong?”
She could have kissed him for that.
“Ugh! You're gonna regret this!” Chloé screamed, and she went back into the hotel, leaving them alone.
----
“I think Cheng Shifu would be proud of you defending him,” he told Marinette, who looked aside, clearly unhappy about something.
“Actually, I don't think he likes me,” she replied. “He didn't talk until you came and he ripped up my gift...”
He had seen the man keeping some flower petals in his pocket, but he hadn't realized they actually came from Marinette. This was something he needed to correct, stat!
“No way! Cheng Shifu said he improvises with 'fateful things' that come his way!” he said, remembering an interview from the program. “He plans on using the flowers in his soup!”
“Really?” she said, recovering her smile, and Adrien knew he had succeeded.
“Of course! Besides, who wouldn't love you?”
“Uh, Chloé, Scarlet Lady, jury's still out on your dad...”
Welp, that question had backfired.
“I meant people with taste.”
----
“A-chooo!” Gabriel violently sneezed, and when he opened his eyes, he saw that the design he had been working on was now covered in saliva droplets and a bit of mucus. Grumbling, he put the paper aside, blew his nose on a handkerchief, did his best to clean up the remains, and put another sheet on the desk.
I don't know why, but I'm sure someone is talking about me. And not in a good way.
----
Tikki knew Chloé was about to put yet another of her stupid ideas to task, but, unfortunately, she could tell there were other people around, so she couldn't just come out and find out herself: she had to guide herself by what Chloé was saying.
“M. Cheng? Marinette's looking for you,” she said, and Tikki heard heavy footsteps passing by before Chloé left her purse on a table. “Let's see if the judges like this soup after this!”
When she came out, she saw Chloé holding two large jars, one containing pepper, the other salt – and pouring them into what she presumed was Marinette's uncle's soup.
How petty can Chloé be?! Tikki thought, flying at Chloé in an attempt to halt her.
“Chloé! You can't just–!”
“Shut up, Tikki!”
Her lips suddenly sealed up, preventing her from continuing to speak, and she mentally cursed the literal-mindedness of the magic that forced her to obey (most of) her wielder's commands.
“This is what Dupain-Cheng gets!” Chloé declared, ignoring her as she tried – in vain – to get rid of the seal, rolling all over the table. “Huh, I didn't think you'd actually shut up!”
Tikki also felt like cursing Chloé.
----
“Time to determine the fate of Cheng Shifu's Celestial Soup!” Alec declared, as the Chinese chef stood before the judges, each of them having a dish full of what he had crafted. “Let's get tasting!”
He was thankful for his great-niece, who not only had done her best to welcome him in spite of her nerves, but also for the inspiration her flowers had given him –
“ECH! It's like kissing the Zombies' singer!” the rocker in the center of the table complained, holding his stomach. “O stars!”
“HUH?!” This couldn't be! He had tasted the soup when it was done, and it was as magnificent as ever!
“It's... inedible,” the chef next to the rocker added. Knowing that a fellow chef – especially someone he knew to be fair and competent – would not lie, he approached the closest dish, the one from the yellow girl, and took a taste.
“ECH!” he said. The taste was horrible! Someone had added so much pepper and salt to this that they overpowered the gentle taste of his Celestial Soup! “I–I never used these ingredients! This is sabotage!”
“But who would do such a thing?” the hotel owner asked.
“It was Chloé,” Marinette's friend intervened.
“Definitely Chloé,” Marinette confirmed, approaching him. “Uncle, you're right. Chloé ruined your soup because I made her mad.”
“Marinette, you didn't make Chloé do anything!” Adrien argued, but it was in vain.
“Shame is mine, not Marinette's,” he stated.
“Uncle...” Marinette tried to add, but it was too late. He had lost.
“I will never be the world's greatest chef.”
He walked back to the kitchen, internally raging about the lost opportunity, the chance of proving his skill wasted because someone had sabotaged his soup. He began to put everything in place for later cleaning -
- but then he saw a purse.
A purse he had seen hanging from the shoulder of the yellow girl when she said Marinette was looking for him.
A purse that had not been there when the soup was served.
A soup that the girl had not tasted – because she had known what had happened.
“Or maybe...” He grabbed the purse, as if trying to crush it between his hands. “Shame is on bratty yellow child!”
----
“Kung Food, I am Hawkmoth.”
“Ah! How are you speaking to me?!” Marinette's uncle shouted.
“Oh no, another foreigner. Now I have to explain myself...”
Inside Chloé's purse, Tikki was terrified. She was witnessing an akumatization in the first line, and there was nothing she could do about it!
Chloé, you idiot, you left me behind!
----
Suddenly, the four people that had eaten the sabotaged soup began to complain of stomach aches.
“Oooo, ouch!” Marlena Césaire twisted in pain.
“FUCK! That hurts!” Jagged Stone shouted.
“Hahaha! You ate my soup, you became my slaves!” a man said. He slightly resembled Wang Cheng, but only slightly – now, he had golden spiky hair atop his head and in his face, thick white eyebrows that seemed like clouds, red paint over his forehead and around his mouth, and skin dark as coal. Almost like a demon from Chinese legends.
Immediately, the afflicted stopped twisting and stood straight.
“Yes, Master,” they replied at the same time, no longer complaining of pain.
“Your first orders – grab the bratty girl!” the Akuma stated, pointing his finger at Chloé, who was speaking on the phone...
“And then, you know what she said?”
… completely unaware of the three people that were about to grab and bundle her up like a turkey for Thanksgiving.
----
I hope Chloé doesn't anger the Akuma and get herself killed before I get there! Tikki thought as she flew through walls and ceilings and tried to find her wielder. As disgusting as it had been to witness her pettiness, she was still the only one that could summon the power to stop the Akuma!
----
Marinette and Adrien watched on one of the screens the transformation her great uncle had undergone, as well as him taking control over the judges and capturing Chloé.
“It's impolite to leave the table without asking!” the Akumatized Wang Cheng exclaimed.
“What?!”
“Seal the exits!”
The two of them ran to the nearest entrance, but the glass was covered on the outside with a thick layer of a orange-ish liquid that had quickly hardened.
“What on Earth–?!” Marinette said.
“It's caramel!” Adrien identified it. “Delicious, but we're stuck now. I'm, uh, gonna look for your uncle.”
“What? Shouldn't we stay together?” Marinette asked. She might dislike horror movies, but she knew well that splitting the group was never a good idea!
“Oh, uh, I thought you could flag down Chat Noir?”
“You think he's really near by?” she asked, surprised, and Adrien nodded.
Closer than you think! he thought.
----
Flagging down her hero was surprisingly easy – just a few moments after splitting off from Adrien, she found Chat Noir, who seemed to have run to arrive.
“Chat Noir! You did get in!”
“Uh, yeah! Now, get somewhere safe while I deal with the Akuma!”
“No way! That's my 舅姥爷!”
“Marinette, think about your safety!”
----
Seeing the strange boy that had suddenly met Marinette, Kung Food had to ask Hawkmoth.
“Who dat?”
“Chat Noir, and Scarlet Lady will be here soon to keep you from finishing your soup!”
“Oh, surprise ingredients!” He turned to the rocker man. “You! Go get them!”
“As you wish!” he said, running like he had come out of some Japanese animation.
“Make sure you get Chat Noir first. Attacking the girl never ends well,” Hawkmoth counseled, and it was clear he was speaking from experience.
----
“You're not going!” he said. Couldn't Marinette see that her safety was paramount?
“Try to stop me!” Apparently not.
The elevator dinged, and the doors opened –
“Your seafood platter has arrived!”
“Jagged Stone?!” he asked. The rocker was carrying a huge club that seemed to be made of fish and shellfish.
And then Jagged swung the club, forcing him to step back.
“Whoa! I only want your autograph, not your appetizers!” he said.
“Sure, I'll carve it into your chest!”
“This scampi happening!”
“Chat, oh my gawd,” Marinette exclaimed.
Not all puns can be winners, ma Princesse!
----
Chloé hung from a rope over the rooftop pool, as the Akuma supervised the transformation of its clean waters into a large, Olympic-sized soup, while the hotel's chef, her father, and the TV guy added the ingredients.
She would have to raise a complaint.
In fact, she was going to do it now!
“This is ridiculous, utterly ridiculous! I have done absolutely nothing to deserve this!” She ignored that her sabotage of the soup might have caused this Akuma. “My hair is going to smell like grease!”
----
As she saw Jagged Stone attempt to brain Chat Noir, Marinette noticed she was near a closet, and remembered two things about her favorite singer: he loved 'rock' n'roll' things, and he hated XY (which she kinda agreed with, XY's music was horrible).
So, she put her hand to the handle, and called out.
“Hey, Jagged Stone! I think XY is more rock'n'roll than you!” She felt like she would have to wash her mouth with soap once they were done.
“What?!” Jagged exclaimed, turning away from Chat Noir to charge at her. “I'll show you rock'n'roll!”
At the last moment, she stepped aside, opening the closet door –
“Whoop~”
“AGH!”
– and paving the way for Jagged Stone to literally crash into the closet.
The moment she closed the door, Chat Noir put a chair right under the handle, preventing it from moving and keeping the rockstar inside.
“Bien joué!” Marinette exclaimed, offering a fist to Chat Noir – which he immediately bumped.
“Okay, you can come,” he said, and she grinned.
“Yay!” Being able to help Chat Noir was awesome!
----
“Hey! Open the door!” the rocker man yelled from within the closet. However, Kung Food could see the chair blocking it, meaning that, unless he sent someone, he would have lost one of his slaves permanently.
Not that he cared.
“Incompetent disciple!” If the rocker man was unable to do his job, then he wasn't worth the effort to liberate. “You, hotel man! Do me honor!”
“As you wish, Master.”
----
Chat Noir led Marinette to the elevator: he had seen the images earlier, and he had noticed that the Akuma had been on the rooftop, so whatever he was planning was likely taking place up there. The elevator was the fastest way there, after all.
But, now that they were relatively safe, he could relax just a bit – and he turned to Marinette.
“You know, Princess, you and me? We could go places,” he said, smiling and giving her a wink.
And Marinette looked aside, with that adorable face-wide blush as she twirled her hair around her finger.
“Uh, well, like, up?” she stumbled, and he realized he was now in uncharted waters.
All the anime he had seen, and never had the girl actually answered this way when the male lead flirted with her! He felt his face also burning up in response.
“I mean, cuz, you know, we're in an elevator, so–”
The elevator suddenly stopped mid-way up with a shake, causing both of them to fall to the floor.
“AGH!”
“OW!”
Oh thank God, Marinette thought.
----
As the doors opened, and both of them stood up, they found another of the guests waiting for them.
“What?!”
“Mayor Bourgeois?!”
The mayor was holding in his hands, of all things, a large string of sausages and potatoes – which he began to wield like they were nunchakus.
“Royal Local Hot Pot, and its giant string of smoked sausages!” André Bourgeois stated.
“AN OPENING!” Chat Noir interrupted, growing his baton so fast that it hit the mayor straight in the face before he could react.
“OOF!”
The mayor collapsed, knocked out, and Chat Noir quickly used the sausage string to tie him up.
“Wow, you got him really good,” Marinette commented.
“No mercy on the battlefield,” Chat Noir replied, before they went back to running up the building.
----
“What an idiot! He's of no use!” Kung Food shouted, angry that the cat boy and Marinette had so easily defeated yet another of his slaved.
“Tell me about it,” Chloé replied. It wasn't the first time she talked smack about her father, so who cared?
“You two, take care of this!”
Alec Cataldi and Marlena Césaire promptly dropped what they had in their hands and ran into the hotel.
That was when Chloé felt something else on her back.
“Chloé!” Tikki whispered.
“Tikki! Where've you been?!”
“Someone left me in the kitchen,” the kwami said in an accusatory tone as she began to undo the knots. “I'll get you out now so you can be Scarlet Lady–”
“NO!” Chloé yelled, making Tikki stop. “I'll drop right into the soup and it'll ruin my hair!”
Tikki looked down at the (somehow) boiling soup, and wondered what had happened to this girl's self-preservation instincts.
Likely died with her good manners.
“You almost have a point there.”
----
Chat Noir began to pull Marinette up through the hole he had opened, as the stairs to this floor were locked and he'd rather not catch the attention of whoever Kung Food sent after them.
“We're almost there. Keep your guard up,” he whispered, and Marinette nodded as she stood up.
DING!
“Oh, great, now what?” he complained.
“The show will begin with a smelly cheese trial!” Alec Cataldi announced, wielding what appeared to be a crossbow that used cheese as ammo, while Alya's mother wielded a bow and an arrow that looked like some kind of cake.
Alec fired his weapon, and Marinette covered herself up – and when the cheese hit her arms, it exploded in a POOF! while releasing a mist.
“Ah! It stings!” Marinette complained; it was a very stinky cheese that had hit her, and the smell was so awful her eyes tried to counter it by producing excessive amounts of tears.
“MARINETTE!”
----
From his hideaway underneath Agreste Mansion, Hawkmoth palmed his face.
He had known this was going to happen. It had been the first thing he had warned Kung Food about when he learned the Cat was on scene.
And yet...
“Dammit, what did I tell you?” he said, still covering his face, because he really, really didn't want to look at what was going on right now.
----
“YOU'LL %$#€ PAY FOR THAT!” Chat Noir yelled, but instead of going after the most recent bane of his existence, he tackled his companion.
“Hey!” Marlena shouted, but he was past caring, and, forcefully grabbing the bow, he fired a cake arrow at Alec's back.
“AGH!”
Alec dropped his crossbow, and with his superhuman strength granted by the Black Cat Miraculous, Chat Noir tossed Marlena at the bald man.
“HYAH!”
“AH!”
With both of Kung Food's last slaves out of combat, he quickly approached Marinette, who was still rubbing her eyes.
“Ow,” she complained, her eyes still crying.
“Marinette! Are you okay?!”
“Yeah, just a little watery.”
He sighed. She would be fine. As fine as one could be when smelling the kind of cheese Plagg liked, that was.
----
Kung Food was now too angry. His last slaves had been put down, and the only thing they had managed to do was to irritate Marinette's eyes slightly! He would have to put his plan in action.
“... I'm gonna cook the girl now,” he declared.
Chloé turned to the Akuma. In spite of everything that had happened so far, she hadn't realized what was the endgame for Kung Food.
“Hah?!”
“Time to add the main ingredient.”
And he began to slice the rope.
“No no no no NOOOO!” Chloé yelled as the rope began to break under the blade's sharp edge.
And, just as the last of the rope was cut –
“Gotcha!”
– Chat Noir jumped to grab her mid-air. Like a hero. Because that was what he was.
“Finally!” Chloé said, not even remotely willing to show any gratefulness even as she touched safe ground. Because that was what she was. “Took you long–”
“Just... just go,” Chat Noir said, pushing her away so he could deal with the Akuma.
With Tikki's help, she finally got rid of the rope keeping her arms tied up, and hid behind a corner.
“Hmph! Time for Scarlet Lady to put him in his place!”
Tikki looked down.
“... you mean the Akuma, right?”
----
“Fear not, everyone, for I have arrived!”
“Aw, man,” Chat Noir sighed. “Cutting it real close this time, Scar.”
He seriously suspected that she had just waited until there was little more to do than fight the Akuma so she could do a 'dramatic' entrance and steal the credit (as always).
“I showed up, didn't I? Lucky Charm!” she said, tossing her yo-yo upwards.
Suddenly, out of what could only be called hammerspace, Kung Food pulled out a sword that was oversized even by anime standards, thrice as large as the Akuma was – and made entirely of pepperoni pizza.
“I'm gonna cook you up real good!” Kung Food declared.
Scarlet Lady didn't even notice the old credit card machine hitting her in the head as it fell.
“STOP! MAKING! WEAPONS!” Scarlet Lady freaked out, hooking her yo-yo around several objects and throwing them at Kung Food, who just deflected them with his gigantic sword.
Meanwhile, Marinette had grabbed the Lucky Charm, which had almost fallen into the soup, and realized that the strip of paper that had been dipped was very sticky yet still tough enough. Realizing what she had to do, she began to pull from the paper and dipped it into the soup.
“HAHAHA!” Kung Food laughed, as he readied his mighty pizza sword for a down slash that would slice Scarlet Lady in two.
Or he would have, if Marinette hadn't jumped in and tangled him in the souped-up strip of credit card paper.
“Chat Noir, now!” she shouted. Chat Noir went for the only object that had been there the entire time – his bag. Opening it, he saw a chef's hat.
“Cataclysm!” he shouted, destroying the hat and freeing the black butterfly.
“I could've done that!” Scarlet Lady complained.
“Then why didn't you?” Marinette fired
----
With the Akuma butterfly purified, and Wang Cheng restored to normality, the jury convened and agreed that, since there was proof that his work had been deliberately sabotaged, he would be granted a second chance to show his skills.
Remembering what had happened earlier, Marinette ran to the hotel's flower shop and bought a bouquet of roses that she brought to the kitchen, where her great uncle was already hard at work readying the ingredients.
“Uncle? Would you teach me how to make Celestial Soup?” she asked, plucking a petal with a smile.
“With pleasure,” Wang Cheng replied: he was eager to pass on his skills to his grand-niece!
“Seriously?!”
Wang Cheng and Marinette turned to look at the owner of the shrill voice, who was the same person that had started the entire mess.
“After all that? I told you, I hate soup!” Chloé complained. Marinette was glaring at her, and Adrien – who was also at the kitchen, having volunteered to help protect from further sabotage attempts – looked at his childhood friend with a raised eyebrow and crossed arms.
“I don't see why that matters when your dad kicked you off the jury,” he said, completely deadpan.
Chloé blushed.
“Daddy doesn't tell me what to do! I... I resigned!” she said in an attempt to cover up her shame.
“Oh? Cuz I heard the evidence was too overwhelming to ignore!” Adrien replied, pointing to a corner near the ceiling. “Say hi to the camera!”
“Ridiculous! Utterly ridiculous!” Chloé said, unwilling to accept that her crime had been caught live while she wasn't paying attention.
And Marinette, meanwhile, gave her a look of pity.
How did you forget that CAMERAS exist?!
----
After preparation was finished, the Celestial Soup was served, and Wang Cheng even tasted some to show the judges that it was as good as expected. The three men and one woman proceeded to taste it, and some of them even moaned in pleasure: the flavour was as divine as the name implied!
The deliberation was short, and Alec Cataldi approached the chef, who was giving Marinette a one-armed hug.
“Your delicious Celestial Soup has received the best score in the show!” Alec declared, smiling and clapping. “Making you the winner!”
“Thank you,” Wang Cheng said, “but soup has new name: Marinette Soup!”
Marinette smiled. That her uncle had given her name to such a wonderful dish was amazing!
“謝謝叔叔!” she said, hugging him back.
----
The next day, Adrien returned to Master Fu's shop, in order to update him on the latest Akuma – and what had happened during the incident.
“And she figured out the Lucky Charm again!” Adrien said, once more praising Marinette. It was a common occurrence. “She's so awesome, I would've just thrown it at him!”
“Hmm...” Fu began, before turning serious. “And you say Scarlet Lady was very late this time?”
“Yeah, but that's not weird.” Adrien waved it off. “She's pretty lazy when she's not angry.”
“She claimed to be Mlle. Bourgeois' friend, yet she didn't show up to save her. Very suspicious,” Fu noted. Had he found his suspect for the robbery, after all?
“It would be if Scarlet Lady wasn't a big fat liar,” Adrien stated, interrupting his train of thought. “Chloé's hardly any better.”
Fu wasn't sure of how to take that assessment, so he chose to concentrate on the one person that had been robbed of her destiny.
“It's very fortunate this Marinette could help you.”
“Right?!” Ah, young love. “She's amazing, with or without a Miraculous!”
With?
“What do you mean?”
Adrien suddenly turned bashful.
“Ah, I did temporarily let go of my ring when Reflekta attacked, and Plagg lent it to Marinette.”
“She was that cat?!” he asked, surprised, and turned to look at the Kwami of Destruction. “Plagg! That was very dangerous!”
“It was no big deal!” Plagg said, flying with his back to him. “I knew Pigtails would give it back. And she did.”
“Hmm...” he mused, standing up. “Maybe it's time for a second look...”
Behind him, Adrien and Plagg looked at each other, wondering what that was about.

Lil’ Heroes - First Day
As expected, there was a commotion as the new students at Francois Daycare toddled into the room. There were children of all kinds. The Fairy Squad were whizzing around, Sabrinnochio was allowing Miremba to use her as a scratching post. Sleeping Nath and MarcElsa were finger painting and scribbling together. Snow Mylene had noticed QuasiIvan and Julebeast chatting, and deciding to become friends with them. Ivan was surprised that a pretty girl like her wanted to be with him, but he liked it. Maxiro was showing off his modified toy robot to Kimules, who immediately decided he loved hanging out with the other kid. Reshmabela had created a rose for Roselle. Marilan and Meridagami had decided to be “rivals”, which they thought meant, “friends but we play toy swords a lot”. AdriPunzel was using his hair as a skipping rope for Demolition Denise. CinderZoe was talking to TiAlya about how she loved to clean her room, and Alya mentioned how she loved making snacks for her family. Due to the curse on their family, Julebeast and Maestro Luka had turned into their beast and toy piano forms. Thankfully, no one seemed that bothered by it, with a lot of the kids finding Julebeast to be adorable (she kinda wished she was a lil scary). Juleka then started playing on Luka. Alix had nabbed some candy and toys from previous students in the confiscated, and was tossing them out for others to play with. Reshma had used her magic to create flowers for the teachers and other kids. AriOndine was having a blast, giggling with delight as she toddled around on her new legs, happy to have friends on land. Her favorite new friend, Kim, had given her a ride on his horsie, Xuppu. Jeanzco and Robette were putting on a show for all of their new friends to enjoy. Sure it was chaotic, but the fairy teachers, Miss Bustier and Miss Mendeliev, were just happy to see everyone getting along.
That is... until Chloestazia showed up. She was Zoe’s half-sister and was bratty to both her and the rest of her classmates. Most of the nicer students just ignored her, deciding that maybe she’d be nicer after a while. Some of the more feisty students messed with her, before being told to stop by Zoe and the more worried kids. Overall, Chloe tried to get everyone to do what she wanted, but would realize soon enough that it didn’t work like that. After snack time, Miss Bustier decided that everyone should have a full introduction to the rest of the class, with questions saved for after everyone was done.
Miss Bustier: Ok, everyone. It’s sharing time! We’re gonna go around the room and share what makes us special!
Kids: Yaayy!
Miss Mendeliev: And no interrupting ok? We don’t wanna have any timeouts on the first day. If you have a comment, raise your hand.
Aladdix: *Whispering to IsmaGenie* I no scared a timeouts.
IsmaGenie: *Whispering back* I wike yoo.

Roselle: Ooh! I wove to wead! I wove that I get to see woyals! Just wike a faiwy tale!
Chloestasia: I bettew than aw you wosers. My mama’s wich. Zoe’s gotta cwean aw my toys. *Sticks her tongue out.*
Kagamerida: I a pwincess anda wawwior. I wove swowds and my awwow. I don’t wike beaws, cause they bwinded my mama.
CinderZoe: I wike cweaning, except for when I gotta do it fow Chwoe. I got miceys as my fwiends.
Jeanzco: I’m da empewor! I wove pwaytime and putting on shows. I hate wwamas!
Demolition Denise: I fwom a vidya game! My mommy’s one of the staws, and I’m gonna be just wike hew when I gwow up. I wove wecking stuff, but then I fixes it.
Simon Pan: I go to Nevewand and now I can fwy! Jingew's a faiwy and we best fwiends! We fiwght piwates and mewmaids. *Looks at AriOndine* I don mind mewmaids, I wike you! The Nevewand mewmaids awe meanies, but Atwantis ones awe nice!
Robette: I wove singin and makin music! One day, I wanna be in a band and make evwyone happy!
Reshmabela: I gotta gift and I can make fwowews! I da oldest sibwing and me an my famwiy hewp out India!
IsmaGenie: I onwy a infant genie, but I stiww powewfuw! Awix fweed me so I no gotta stay in wamp! Yoo nevew had fwiend wike me!
BluRore: I a faiwy awso! I wike bein a mommy to othew kids, so I hope dat ok. I aciddentawy made Sabwina into a weaw wooden giwl, but now I gotta a fwiend!
Miremba: I a hooman-wion hybwid and a pwincess. One day, Imma be da queen a da savannah!
Lacey Bell: I not name Jingews, I Wacey! Im a faiwy too, and I wove tinkewing wif tings.
Now that everyone knew each other, it'd start a wonderful friendship that would last for generations. After story time, everyone's parents or caretakers came to pick them up. They couldn't wait to come back tomorrow.
That was the first day! Thank you so much to @msweebyness for helping out with the concept. As always, make sure to reblog, reply, post and ask to share your thoughts. @artzychic27 @msweebyness

The new Miraculous film is actually alright
I didn't have high standards for this film originally. I put the release date on my calendar, but forgot about it as I didn't care all that much. However, today I was too tired to do much so I decided to give it a watch.
First thing is the animation. It's better than the show's, but there was a missed opportunity to redesign the characters to look less like they were just concept art for a final character. Chloe's hair looks like it was dunked in olive oil and was never washed out. Another thing I noticed is that Marinette always seems to be wearing some sort of earrings, which confused me as her disguised miraculous looks exactly the same as the earrings she wears at the start of the film and when she takes them off halfway. I hope they did what Jimmy Neutron did and reuse the film assets for the next season of the show. The camouflaged state of the butterfly miraculous looks so tacky! The creepy basement has been redesigned to replace the lift with stairs and the capsule with generic flowers. The school's been redesigned to look less modern and for some reason, both Marinette and Adrien now have analogue watches. Also Adrien has a phone with 1 camera and uses wired earphones. I imagine it's trying to do what the show did, by keeping all the technology from 2015 as that's when season 1 came out (the only contradicting point being the English news reporter from the season 5 finale said "God save the King", which implies this takes place in 2023 or later). It would be weird if Adrien didn't have the latest tech considering he's supposed to be rich and all. However, Alya's phone looks more like a modern phone due to the fact there's no buttons on the screen side and no bevels. Is she a time traveller?
The voice acting's fine. Something I didn't realise at first, is that this film is a musical. The songs are so damn cheesy and whenever they would play, I would open up discord and look through my unread messages while tuning out the generic songs about not being worthy, love, being a villain, etc. Marinette's singing voice is different than her regular voice and it's really noticeable. Nooroo's voice changed and I really don't like it. I like the scared and high-pitched voice that they had in the show as it gave the impression that Nooroo was terrified of being used for evil (possibly because a similar thing happened to them before), but had no choice and just had to obey. Fortunately Nooroo's a minor character in the film so I don't have to hear that out of place mystical mature voice much.
The music is just generic Disney style cinematic piano stuff. Careless Whisper (or as I call it: the sexy saxophone song) plays twice in the film. Why. Why would you unironically put a meme song in a film?
Now the writing. Oh the writing.
Spoilers here (I go over the ending and important plot points):
First off: this takes place in this alternate world where Marinette is unpopular and weird and Adrien has been at this school for a while now. I like this take as it's similar to season 1, but does a better job at Marinette's character arc. How they meet in this universe is by the library. Also Marinette's not a creepy stalker in this universe, and can actually talk to Adrien enough to ask him to go to the prom thing. Again I like this take as instead of her following him around for 4 seasons before he eventually confesses his feelings, she gets to know him better and they become friends via the help of Alya and Nino. Also when Alya saves Marinette from being publicly humiliated by Chloe, that was a better transition into them becoming friends then how it was originally with them meeting by just sitting together in the same class.
It was annoying how we never got to see Adrien's reaction to finding the miraculous. He finds this cat, didn't question how it got through his window when his room's on the 1st floor, cat turns to ring, then it just cuts and the next time we see him he's cat noir. Meanwhile Marinette freaks out over realising she's the chosen one. She never calls herself Ladybug in her introduction, but people start calling her that as they're all really unoriginal when it comes to name. Cat noir fights the enemy like he (somewhat) knows what he's doing, but Ladybug has absolutely no idea and is acting very clumsy. Something that annoyed me about the original origin story, was that Master Fu just met them 2 and decided that because Marinette gave him a macaron, then she would be a good Ladybug. In this version, Marinette saves his life by pushing him out of traffic, and the kwamis decide who their holders are by destiny or something. There's a couple missing features from the show:
Her magic ladybirds don't activate by her throwing the lucky charm. She figures out how to activate them in the end of the film by moving her arms around.
They don't de-transform after 5 minutes after using their power.
There isn't a manual in the stick and yo-yo (that would be a bit overpowered though).
They don't seem to break the akumatised object, the akuma seems to fly out of it after.
The suits can be damaged by attacks but they can't in the show. Towards the end, Cat noir and Hawk moth have a battle and he rips half of Cat noir's mask off. They also don't seemed to be affected by the magic plot device introduced in United Heroes that makes humans not question why the superheroes look so similar to Marinette and Adrien; Hawk moth realises that Cat noir is Adrien and oh my god that scene was written like it was a fan-fiction I would upload here. Personally I would make the backstory scene a lot darker (although something to note is that in the show, Emilie's death was a lot more recent than in the film) and have Cat noir actually manage to cataclysm Hawk moth (like in season 5 episode 3) instead of the Eiffel Tower (even though that was really cool too) just because I'm so curious how that conversation would go if he knew he essentially killed his own father. I was laughing in that entire scene so loudly that my brother messaged me on discord from the room next door asking if I was having a stroke. I was laughing so hard that I could barely hear what they were saying, and I was more focused on why Gabriel's eyebrows are shaded so tackily.
There's no akuma alert on their phone, they detect danger by their miraculous glowing. Better concept imo.
Ladybug doesn't use her lucky charm in the entire film. Cat noir uses his cataclysm so why doesn't Ladybug use her power? This doesn't make sense to me.
Anyway, Marinette finds out that Adrien likes someone else when she asks him to go to the prom (that isn't described as a prom, but essentially that's what it is) and he rejects her saying that he likes someone else. Well, Hawk moth figured out much sooner in the film that he can akumatise himself and become really OP with a crap ton of butterflies. That version of him reminds me of Dr Robotnik when he gets the Master Emerald in the second Sonic film as he controls his power in a similar way. He drags the earrings out of Ladybug's ears and doesn't put them on? Instead the miraculous of the ladybird goes directly into the butterfly miraculous and it fuses that way. No different form though. So anyway, Marinette is on an island because from what I remember the place was flooded, but her island was separated from the one with Hawk moth and Cat noir. She finds out that Cat noir is Adrien, but the others are too busy having a mental breakdown that they don't notice her 4 metres away. At the end she tells Adrien that she's Ladybug in the cheesiest way. This was at the prom, Adrien's sad that he's never going to see Ladybug again because Hawk moth's been defeated and he knows that Ladybug isn't interested in becoming a couple; so he's next to a tree outside the venue. Marinette finds him and then this really cheesy scene plays that I can't really explain but it would have been better if she just asked why he was sad and then Adrien would be vague, but mention something about never being able to see his crush ever again. Marinette would mention that it's because he likes Ladybug, and because he's Cat noir, the only time they meet is when they're saving the day from akumatisations. He would act startled but that's when Marinette would mention that she's Ladybug, and that he doesn't need to worry. Marinette in the original scene is too vague.
Plagg deserved more screen time: he only appeared in 3 scenes, 2 of which involved him eating cheese. It's such a shame as Plagg's my favourite character from the show. The charm from his original character's been watered down and because he barely features, he never gets to make up for it.
Yeah essentially that's my thoughts. I prefer this universe over the universe of the show as this one makes more sense writing wise. It's not perfect, but it's not too bad. I quite enjoyed it but I feel like it could do with a bit of polishing to make it really shine. I'm not sure what direction the show's going with Lila being the new villain, but this film was definitely a better version of the Hawk moth arc due to it's smaller scale.
You can watch it on Netflix (I think) or some random piracy website that I used called miraculous.to. Use chrome though as the video buffers like mad on firefox.
I spent more than an hour typing this out.

Pairing - Adrinette + Ladynoir Prompt - 'Coffee and Marriage'
Summary:
"I got you a fresh cinnamon-bun latte from that place you've been wanting to go...? It's not decaffeinated and it's full of natural sweeteners too. Do...do you like it?" He couldn't help the way his voice wavered with vulnerability towards the end, nervous by the way she remained silent and her eyes continued to stare at the cup.
Was the latte art too much?
Did she not like cinnamon buns?
Mon Dieu...does she hate coffee now!?
"Adrien..." He froze at her direct tone, internally praying to every God he's ever heard of for his face to not sweat because the last thing he wanted was to get his nasty sweat all over Marinette's lovely hair-
"Marry me."
(Or, Adrien gets Marinette a coffee and the sleep deprived girl asks him to marry her.)
~(x)~ . . . Usually, Adrien was one of the few people in the class who was quite apprehensive and utterly unamused with Marinette's extreme caffeine habits and intakes. And that's putting it lightly. He and Alya were the only ones vocal about their distaste for the unhealthy addiction too, the former regularly concocting up schemes to get the silly designer to drink some water or get some damn sleep in his spare time. "No Plagg, I'm not turning off the lamp. I need to brainstorm a few more decent ideas to get Marinette to look after herself. She's so stubbornly smart and she would easily evade the ones I've already come up with so far-" "I don't care if Pigtails likes to munch on raw coffee beans or bathe in sugar like an idiot- I NEED MY SLEEP KID! SLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP!!!!" A few weeks back, they were just so close to breaking Marinette's habits, having replaced her beverages with vitamin water and decaffeinated teas in a manner that would make even the most stealthiest ninjas out there proud and coaxing the girl into using their laps as a pillow to nap on during break times. Not even Agreste junior allowed the shy girl to stammer or run her way out of it whenever it was his turn to be the human pillow. (But holy shit, he was never as thankful for the muscles he gained through sports and part-time heroing as he was then, having to hold back a squirming girl away from her coffee was a workout itself!) He even noted that she slept better and for longer when she was with him! It was all going amazingly! . But then Nino... . Oh, Nino. . It only took one, teary-eyed, lip wobbling plea from the aspiring artist, a promise of a freshly baked peach and orange blossom soufflé in exchange for only one can of the small, cheap energy drink Nino was sipping at the time. How could Lahiffe refuse such a delectable, once in a lifetime opportunity!? He tried his best to not take the temptress' offer. Oh boy did he try- No. Actually, he didn't try at all. He's a greedy glutton. An absolute slut for the Dupain-Cheng's goods. Just like ninety-nine point nine percent of the rest of France. The other nought point nought one percent of them were health freaks that thought just consuming a crumb of buttery carbs would doom them for eternity. "Did you say p-peach? And- and- and orange blossom??? All of that in a soufflé????" "Uh-huh~ With an even layer of powdered sugar, some shavings of candied oranges, a smidge of orange zest and a handpicked peach tree flower which is edible," "Mon Dieu...mec..." "Is...is that not enough? I'm sorry for bothering you-" "WHAT!? NON, NON, NON! IT'S MORE THAN ENOUGH! Here, you can have the whole pack of drinks! I will die for that godly dessert, Marinette!" And that's how Agreste and Césaire found an energetic Cheng, bouncing off the walls like the hyperactive Duracell bunny whilst simultaneously doing a million things at once and a shamelessly content Nino, leisurely licking his spoon to savour the last taste of the devil's concoction, letting out a pleased belch and smacking his lips. To this day, he still claims that getting whacked by Adrien's ruthless sabre and the random, terrifying broom that Alya found, multiple times, was completely worth it for the gold that was the handmade Marinette Dupain-Cheng soufflé. Thankfully, his girlfriend and his best friend kept a sharp eye on him from then on, never hesitating to direct threatening messages through their eyes alone whenever he dares to even budge for Marinette's hazardous requests. That's how they managed to get the girl back into healthier habits. The model even snuck around her balcony as Chat Noir during his night patrols just to make sure that she wasn't storing any of the heart attack juice secretly. "Your plans and schemes were already bad enough, but this is ridiculous! You're just stalking the girl now!" "What? No Plagg, I'm just trying to make sure that she's okay and getting some sleep." "You can do that by calling her or texting her!" "But this way is easier!" "STALKER. S. T. A. L. K. E. R. You're a STALKER." "That's enough sass from you, monsieur! Plagg, transforme-moi!" "NONONONOONONO I'M SORRYYYYYyyyyyyyyyyyy-" . So yes, usually Adrien was a rigid anti 'Coffeenette' guy. But that didn't mean that he wanted her to be deprived of caffeine for life- that was asking for way too much. No, no, no. He just wanted her to get back on her feet on progressing terms and recently, she has been doing just that, much to his chagrin. He wasn't that stupid, however. With all the work and extracurricular that his beloved friend has, not even he would be able to power through them all without a drop of coffee. Now that she was well weaned off of it, he thought that it would be a good idea to let her indulge once in a while again. Moderately, that is. Plus, everyone has noticed how exceedingly lethargic and exhausted she has been for a while which not even the naps with him were able to cure. It would crush him if the naps stopped working. Adrien unconditionally loved holding Marinette and absolutely adored running his fingers through her soft, silky hair as she snoozed on his chest. He had to help her out. Just before he arrived at school in the morning, the blond decided to head to the new café that he's observed Marinette eyeing dreamily lately, wanting to surprise her with an enticing hot drink from there. He enthusiastically splurged on the beverage, making sure to politely ask the barista to use the healthier ingredients they had available and even getting an adorable cocoa picture on the milk foam which he carefully handled once given. (It was of a charming, black kitten with little black hearts around it!!!) He was deaf to the barista's coos of how lucky his 'girlfriend' was to have him, heads in the clouds and purely excited to make his wonderful friend happy. Adrien also hoped that it could be enough to get Marinette to forgive him for all those times he and Alya denied her of her sugary concoctions. It was for her best. With the comforting scent of cinnamon and nutmeg wafting from the cup, he internally prayed that this wouldn't backfire and revert her back into the feral caffeine monster. 'I'd have to transform as Chat Noir right there and then to keep her in check,' He mused to himself humorously. . Finally, Adrien arrived at class, pleasantly surprised at his beloved's presence on her bench. His heart sank slightly at the way she was passed out on the desk, hair quite dishevelled and her brows tense. She really was going through a lot... Not wanting to waste any more time, the boy roamed towards her, placing the cup down gently and then bent down to her level so that their faces were a few centimetres apart. He placed one hand on her cheek, his thumb rubbing her brow sweetly as he whispered her name a few times, beckoning her to wake up. Adrien was blind to the way Alya and Nino synchronously waggled their brows at each other, cheeky smirks plastered on their lips as they watched the persistent model prompt their precious girl awake. At last, with a soft "Ma Princesse~? S'il te plait, réveille-toi," murmured lovingly in her ear, Marinette's lashes fluttered open, revealing dazed baby blues. They flickered around, trying to regain their bearings until her eyes focused on the beaming boy before her. Her brows furrowed once more as she lifted her head up, face still very much leaning against his strong hand for support and warmth. "Hmm...Adrien?" The way she breathed out his name sent his heart to overdrive and the boy couldn't help but melt. She was way too cute for his own good. "Salut, Marinette. How are you holding up?" He brushed her cheekbone in comforting circles, foreheads almost touching and his heart never ceasing to race. He earned a disgruntled groan as a response, causing him to chuckle. "If you're here to torture me with those horrid vitamin water drinks again, I will ignore you for the rest of the day no matter how many times you throw those puppy eyes at me." It took the golden-haired boy everything to not correct her with "kitten eyes", deciding to shake his head at her good-naturedly. Even her glare was attractive! "Heh, I think you'll really like what I got for you this time," "That's what you said last time and it turned out to be carrot sticks. CARROT STICKS." "Hey, they were organic, fresh and well seasoned. With a side of hummus too." "That's not the po-oooooint..." Giggles erupted from Adrien, completely entertained by Marinette's whines and dramatics. He loved seeing this side of her. It was just so tempting to gather her up in his arms right there and then. "Stop laffin' at me..." She slurred, cheeks red with embarrassment. Without another word, Adrien brought the cup in front of her, placing her hands over it as he lifted the lid to show the creamy, sweet goodness with a generous waft of steam emanating from it. He bit his lip to hide his goofy grin as he carefully watched Marinette's expression, his hands over hers now. . "Adrien..." He froze at her direct tone, internally praying to every God he's ever heard of for his face to not sweat because the last thing he wanted was to get his nasty sweat all over Marinette's lovely hair- "Marry me." . His mind turned to mush. He blinked once. Twice. Maybe thrice. And then his mouth ran without his permission. "Sure." . The rest of the class exploded with pandemonium, their unadulterated havoc was blind and deaf to a blissful Marinette who was happily sipping away her latte and a very confused, 'oh-shit-what-just-happened?' Adrien. ~(x)~ . "I think I'm engaged." Was the first thing that Chat Noir blurted out as soon as Ladybug landed on the rooftop, the heroine instantly losing her footing and almost fell face first against the slates. Her partner however was quick to catch her, his clawed hands steadying her arms but his face remained slightly panicked. His Lady gave him a look that demanded an explanation, straightening up to meet his gaze. "You see, my super cute and talented good friend proposed to me after I bought her coffee...I said yes," He was clutching his tail now as if he was guilty of a crime, kitten ears drooping and rosy lips pooched. Ladybug simply raised a brow, looked to the side in thought and scratched the back of her head. "Huh...how funny. My sweet, adorable friend- the boy I like, gave me a coffee whilst I was sleep-deprived as hell and apparently, I accidentally told him to 'marry me'..." "..." "..." "Don't take it back, Marinette. I even bought an engagement ring." "..." "I even had our names engraved on it!" "..." "My Lady...?" . "...Of all ways for our identities to be revealed...this is what we get???" Tiredly, she slapped her hand against her face, still lacking the energy and mental power to have fully blown freakout. Not even the delicious boost which was the latte he generously bought her was enough for her brain to compute the situation. "...We're still getting married, right?" "Is that really all that you can think of right now? Huh, Adrien? Or is the lack of caffeine messing with your brain too?" "Well, I'm also thinking about our wedding night if you want honesty." The hero sneakily bopped her nose with his, way too amused with the outcome to her liking. Her brain just simply had too much excitement for the day. "Just...just take me back home and we'll talk about it after I get some sleep..." "Need me as your pillow, Buguinette~?" "With our hypothetical wedding night on your brain? Not a chance, alley cat." "Ah, boo..." . Ladybug instantly detransformed on her balcony as soon as her partner dropped her off, her body vibrating with the need to get inside her bed right away and sleep for the next ten years or so. It wasn't until her head finally landed on the pillow did she realise that the sly feline not only snuck a brief, tender kiss on the lips but he also slid the ring on her finger and whispered in her ear "Be Mine," before leaping away. . The engagement ring. . Now, how the hell was she supposed to explain to her Maman and Papa that she's engaged!? . . . ~(x)~ A/N: Don't worry lads. It's more of a promise ring. The idiots get each other much nicer engagement rings down the years cos the fools have forgotten that you can't get married until you're eighteen in France ahahahahah! Dumbasses.

Post-Reveal Revelry Day 21: Celebrate
Read them all on AO3
—-
“Geez, what a day,” Marinette said. “I’m exhausted.”
“Me too,” Adrien admitted. He automatically stuck out an arm to steady her as Marinette took off first one shoe and then other. She let out a sigh of relief as her feet hit the floor and she was able to wiggle her toes.
“Oh my god, that feels so much better. Whoever created high heels is a sadist.”
Adrien smiled. “Couldn’t wait to do that inside the apartment, huh?”
“A sadist, I tell you,” Marinette said fervently, waving one of said high heels in Adrien’s face. He thought about reminding her that she had been the one to insist on the heels in the first place – she had a pair of flats that would’ve also beautifully complimented her dress, and Adrien had tried to encourage her to wear those instead.
But just as quickly, he decided not to. That would only make Marinette pout, and he didn’t want to put a dampener on her mood.
“Come on,” he said instead. “Let’s go inside. You can shower and then I’ll rub your feet.”
“Would you? You’re the best.” Marinette’s eyes brightened and she scurried up the hall ahead of him. Adrien followed, taking the keys out of his pocket and unlocking their door.
While Marinette went off to shower, Adrien changed and then got Plagg and Tikki settled. Both of them were stuffed with food, so it was mostly a matter of plunking them both down in their little bed and dropping a blanket over them. Then he went out to sit on the couch and wait for Marinette.
She was out of the shower in less than twenty minutes, a record for her, and reappeared with dripping hair and a towel around her shoulders. She smiled at Adrien and pranced around the couch, throwing herself down. Two dainty feet landed in Adrien’s lap a few seconds later. He shook his head, fighting back a grin, and took her left foot between his hands.
“It really was nice though,” he said to fill the silence.
“Right? Oh, but I should’ve known. Rose has been planning this for months. Of course hers and Juleka’s wedding would go off without a hitch.” Marinette snuggled further into the pillows they kept on the couch.
“Well, not quite without a hitch. I heard Alya say something about the flowers?” Adrien said.
“One of the centerpieces didn’t show up, but it was no big deal. Rose and Juleka didn’t even know about it.” Marinette looked pretty satisfied with herself. “Alya and I took care of it. We didn’t want anything to ruin their day.”
Marinette might have been giving some credit to Alya, but Adrien was pretty confident that she’d been the one to fix the problem. That was just the sort of person that she was. And of course she would’ve done it so quietly and so cleverly that Juleka and Rose would be none the wiser, just so that they could celebrate their day without any fuss. God, he loved this woman.
“Sometimes I think you missed your calling as a party designer, not just a designer,” Adrien said, gently tickling one of Marinette’s polished toes. She huffed at him and lightly kicked his hand.
“It was fun helping out, but I don’t know if I could do it all the time. Party planning is hard work,” Marinette said. “Although it really was cool seeing everything come together.” She shrugged. “Guess if I ever get tired of trying to make it as a designer, I’ve got a back-up.”
“I’m sure that Rose and Juleka would give you a wonderful recommendation,” Adrien said.
Marinette grinned. “Just like I would give you a wonderful recommendation if you decided to quit working at the bakery and become a full time foot masseuse,” she teased, nudging at his hand until he resumed rubbing.
“I don’t think your dad would let that happen,” Adrien said honestly, and Marinette laughed.
“No, he definitely wouldn’t.”

Space Between 1
Ao3 *** Part 2
@maribatmarch-2k21 Day 2: First Time
~~~~~~~~~~
The first time Marinette died she was six. She had been walking along the sieve with her papa when she was pushed and fell into the river. She doesn't remember how long it was until the doctors started her heart again after having drowned. Her parents told her it was the scariest 10 minutes of their lives but she doesn't remember that.
What she remembers is the garden. A ring of flowers circled the garden, a small pond in the center surrounded by lush soft grass. A willow tree with two swings hang from its branches on one side of the pond. On the other a long bench with a podium next to it. She went over and on the podium were two stone tablets, one was blank. The other had Marinette written in elegant script, a single line was the only thing on the tablet with her name.
That was when she blinked and her eyes fluttered open.
"She's back. We got her back." she heard but it seemed like she had cotton in her ears.
---
The next time she was in the garden she was now 14. It was during Desperada that she died again, and again, and again. The kept being time missing but that was thanks to the snake miraculous. At one point she just stood or sat at the podium when she would arrive. At roughly every 2,000 deaths she would remember them all. When her number hit 34,559 and the other stayed blank she was ready to scream.
She has now died 34,559 times and 34,558 of those times were because of Adrien. The count had changed from tallies to just a number at some point.
She was going to say something when she appeared in front of Adrien for the up tenth time but he beat her.
"Sass, scales rest." The poor Kwamii nearly fell from the air in pure exhaustion. "It's been 4 months."
She cut him off. "I know?”
"Wait!!! How do you know."
"34, 558 times you rewound." Both Adrien and Sass stared at her.
"You are a Gray-Soul.” Sass exclaimed, “When did you get the memories."
"Around every 2,000 and about 17 times so I don't remember the last 500 of them." Adrien seemed to sigh in relief.
"Give it a week," Sass spoke, Adrien paled but that was a problem for future her.
She nodded. "Okay, but we need to deal with Desperada."
With Luka's help they finally were able to defeat Desperada. Okay sure she was bitter toward Chat during that fight, he hadn’t shown up earlier, but it was understandable. Okay she did die again with Luka but that was only once. She begrudgingly fist bumped them both in the end, but she was tired.
"M' lady are you alright?"
"Huh. Ya, Ya I'm good." she waved him off and left soon after.
A week later unfortunately, during yet another attack did her memories return.
"LB are you okay!" Chat asked her. Her gaze became steely and that akuma didn't stand a chance.
"Meet me at the tower in 15 minutes." Mari's voice was cold and serious. She gritted out attempting to process before swinging away.
"So Kitty anything you want to confess to or should I just tell you what I remember."
"Um... I'm.. I'm sorry," he was crestfallen.
"I'm not mad at you Adrien." she consoled. "It was a shock and I'm processing."
"I knew you didn't want to reveal and I'm sorry." He blurted, tears brimmed his eyes as he shrunk on himself.
"Hey, hey look at me." she placed her hands on his shoulders. "Would you believe me if I told you I used to have the biggest crush on you."
"You what?!"
"Ya but I just found out what a dork you are," she grinned flicking his nose.
"Am not!" he pouted.
"Are too Agreste."
"Fine, will you tell me who you are since you know me?
"Marinette. I'm Marinette, Adrien." she chuckled.
"Will you go on a date with me?" He looked hopeful.
'Sigh' "I'm sorry but no Adrien." he was going to protest but she stopped him. "Yes, I used to have a crush on you, but that kind of died after my 8,000 the death." he winced and she chuckled. "Adrien you are my best friend, no matter what Alya thinks. Your my partner and I trust you with my life, just not with the snake again," This time they both laughed.
"But the Ladybug and Black Cat are soulmates."
"Maybe we are. Just not romantically." she laughed at the confusion clear on his face. "there is more than one type of soulmates. I think we are more Platonic or even sibling soulmates."
"So you are like my sister, or should I say my soul sister."
"I guess you can see it that way."
"Hey soul sister." He had begun to sing.
"No don't!"
"Ain’t that Mr. Mister on the radio, stereo, the way you move ain't fair you know." he wiggled his eyebrows.
"Definitely my brother, no romance." she deadpanned.
---
Of all of those on the Miraculous team she is the only gray-soul. Everyone on the miraculous team has died at least a handful of times, but who hasn't in Paris. They asked her about it but it was always the same. Just her number rose each time.
A year later she and Adrien had swapped miraculous to practice with the other's power. Unfortunately she was hit before Vipereon was on the scene.
She was in the garden and she noticed him. "Oh!" she startled as did the boy. He was taller than her, black hair and ocean blue eyes. "Is it your first time?" She walked over to the podium.
"First time for what?" he asked.
"Here, dying." She shrugged. 34,999 she read a note that now appeared on her tablet. STOP DYING ALREADY!!! She chuckled at that.
"How are you so god damn calm about this! We're dead!" he screamed.
She gave him a bored look and pointed at the podium. He moved over to see what she was pointing at.
"What the Fuck! Okay so that explains how your so calm." On one side was Marinette her death total and her note, on the other side was the name Jason in elegant script and a single tally.
"So here's a run down. We are called Gray-souls this is the Go-Between or limbo. You can only die and revive once or ya know some 36 thousand times."
"You've actually died and revived that many times."
"Unfortunately." she gave him an eye roll and a small push.
"Want to tell me about it?"
"It's a long story and I don't know if I could finish it."
"Why wouldn't you, we have as much time as we want right now?"
"Once the cure is cast I'll be revived and that will be max 30 minutes."
"Fine, but you will tell me when we both get out of here."
"Okay!" She nodded and went to shake his hand.
"I'm Jason Peter Todd."
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng. How will we you know, know it's the other person?"
Jason's tablet seemed to answer as it glowed drawing their attention.
Look among the Bats and the Birds for,
the Ladybug among the Menagerie.
They both stared at those words recognizing which part meant them. Marinette was about to say something but felt the all too familiar pull.
"Until next time, Jason, or should I say Gray." she nudged him with her elbow.
"Smell ya later Marinette Gray." he nudged her back with a smirk.
She waved and vanished from the garden. She never told anyone what happened that time, but those words were a constant whisper in her head.
--
The night of the visitation, it rained. Like a kick to the gut, a painful reminder of what it was like to fall in love…now was only a soothing presence to losing love.
The old umbrella in her hand didn’t help either. It was his. Adrien’s. The very same he gave her that day over ten years ago.
Marinette had agonized over what to wear for too long. It was a wake, so black, right? She had this outfit picked out and everything. A sharp blazer over her little black cocktail dress, with black pumps. Even though it was a wake, it was a wake for her boss, one of the most influential fashion moguls in the world, and she would be taking his place. She had to look her best.
But then, she changed her mind. It was a social event, yes, and she would be in the public eye and representing the brand, true!
But it felt gross.
The cocktail dress was too sexy for a wake, and wearing that much black made her look goth.
It just wasn’t right.
Then she saw the dress. A rose pink, knee length dress that flared out as it went down. It had little black polka dots on it.
And it was Adrien’s favorite. He said so every time she wore it.
Too peppy for a wake. Too casual, too fun and flirty. But a black cardigan over it, and she felt perfect.
She could almost hear his voice as she posed in the mirror.
“I love that dress on you. You look so cute, Marinette.”
It made tears spring to her eyes.
So no makeup then. Because she knew she would be crying a lot more tonight.
“Don’t forget to pack tissues,” Tikki reminded, helpfully.
“Right, thank you, Tikki.” She tucked the little package in her purse.
With one last pass of the brush through her hair, she was ready.
So now she stood outside of the manor, the gate open.
Well folks, I'm goin' down to St. James Infirmary
See my little baby there
She's stretched out on a long, white table
Well she looks so good, so cold, so fair
The paparazzi stood nearby with their cameras, ready to swoop in like vultures.
She must have paused for too long, because they descended on her quickly, shoving mics in her face and asking questions.
Didn’t they know why she was here? Didn’t they know what she was going through?
An arm reached around her shoulders and started leading her forward. “Alright everyone, that’s enough! Can’t you see she’s not in the mood?” Her rescuer shouted.
The reporters didn’t pass through the gate, as that would have been trespassing. So thankfully, the crowd was left behind as they moved forward.
“Thank you,” she said to the unfamiliar man.
“Of course, Miss Dupain-Cheng.” He nodded.
“You know me?”
“I know of you. Head intern to Gabriel Agreste himself, if I’m not mistaken. I’m from Harper’s Bazaar.”
“Oh...a reporter.”
“Yes, but I really was just here as a guest to pay my respects. I’ve interviewed both Gabriel and Adrien a few times.”
“I see.”
He led her into the house.
Let her go, let her go, God bless her,
Wherever she may be,
She will search this wide world over,
But she'll never find another sweet man like me.
She was early, as Nathalie had instructed. No other guests were here. Just funeral staff, some family, and two steel caskets.
Two steel closed caskets.
Might make retrieving Adrien’s ring a bit of a problem, but not seeing his face…cold, motionless, and waxy would keep her somewhat sane.
The man walked with her right up to the casket, the one with Adrien’s picture next to it.
“It’s a shame. That much skill, the absolute genius spread between the two of them. The world as a whole will never be the same.”
“Yeah.”
“Any idea what’s going to happen next? Not that this is an interview, I’m just curious.”
She shrugged, “well, I’ve been offered the position, and everyone wants me to take it...but it’s so…”
“Overwhelming?”
“Yes.” She rested her hand on the casket. “I wish I could have a moment alone with him.”
“Let me see what I can do.” He smiled, then he called louder, to the room. “The lady would like a few minutes alone, if possible.”
“Is she family?” A staff member asked.
“This is Madam Dupain-Cheng, she’s the successor to Gabriel’s empire. She’s practically family!”
There was no arguing with that, and the group of staff members filed out into the adjacent dining room.
“Thank you,” Marinette called to the man, still not getting his name.
“Don’t worry about it darling.” And he followed them out.
Marinette glanced around the room, just to make sure she was alone. “Tikki?”
“I’m here!”
“I need you to keep watch.” The casket had two doors, one on top that would have been open if this was a regular visitation, and one over the legs. She slid the flower arrangement on top over to the bottom section and ran her hand over the edge. She pulled up slightly, and as she feared, it was sealed.
“It’s locked,” she lamented.
“Let me try!” Tikki zipped around the casket, and a moment later, it clicked and the cap opened ever so slightly.
Marinette took a deep breath as her fingers curled under the lip.
“What are you waiting for?”
“Just…I don’t want to do this. I don’t want to see what he looks like. I don’t want to…” but she put her reservations on hold, and pushed the lid up.
She choked out a startled gasp. “Oh no…”
Now, when I die, bury me in my straight-leg britches,
Put on a box-back coat and a stetson hat,
Put a twenty-dollar gold piece on my watch chain,
So you can let all the boys know I died standing pat.
Instead of the mangled body of her true love, there was only a pile of sandbags.
Tikki, also horrified, went over to Gabriel’s casket and phased inside. Then she popped out, “this one is the same!”
Marinette closed the lid and moved the flowers back into place, her mind moving at a mile a minute. Vaguely, she heard the click of the casket as Tikki put it to rights.
Marinette was panicking, but quickly calmed herself down. This didn’t mean anything malicious, not yet. Maybe they were cremated and the family wanted to keep it a secret. Or because there’s no graveside service, their bodies had already been buried.
Who was she kidding, something was definitely going on.
A mystery that was just aching to be solved, but her first priority was to retrieve Adrien’s ring.
“--A moment alone!” A voice shouted from the dining room.
Marinette whirled around in time to see Felix storming towards her. Did he know? Was she caught?
He brushed past her, “move.” And went directly to the casket, grabbing the lip like she had.
“Please sir! You’ll damage the casket!” One of the funeral home staff rushed and grasped Felix by the shoulder. “It’s shut and locked, it can’t be opened again.”
“I didn’t get to say goodbye!” Felix snarled. “Look at him!” He pointed at the photo on display next to the casket. “He has my face! I deserve to see him one last time!”
“Sir...he doesn’t look like that anymore. It would be very disturbing to see his remains.”
Disturbing indeed, considering Adrien wasn’t in there at all.
Amelie was quick to join the group and she consoled her son. “We talked about this. You knew it was going to be a closed casket.”
“They said the family had time alone. I just...wanted to say goodbye, face to face.” He shook his head and scowled. “He deserved that, at least.”
Marinette made herself small, feeling like an intruder in this family crisis. But Amelie still saw her and brought her in for a hug.
“How are you holding up, dear?” She asked, pulling away slightly.
“I’m…I’ve been better.”
“Of course, I’m so sorry for your loss.”
Marinette had met Amelie and Felix more than a few times working at Gabriel. As the years went on, they came to visit more and more often. Amelie was always insistent that she call her ‘Aunt Amelie’ like Adrien. It felt weird to break the habit now.
“Isn’t pink a little too festive for the occasion?” Felix bit. The red from anger in his cheeks had faded. Now he just sounded bitter.
It was Adrien’s voice…but not. It was a shame Felix sounded so much like him.
He looked just like him too, minus the slicked back hair and glasses.
“Adrien really loved this dress,” Marinette whispered. “I know it’s not—I just—“
His face softened slightly, relieved that she had Adrien in mind, and not fashion. “Sounds fine to me.”
Even after the disastrous first encounter they had, Felix and Marinette never became friends. He and Adrien certainly got along, or at least appeared to, but Felix and Marinette were only ever cordial.
It was a wake, after all. He should be nice. He gave her a small smile, one that looked eerily similar to Adrien’s.
Before she could stop herself, she was hugging him.
He didn’t smell like Adrien at all. He smelled like clean cat litter and laundry detergent, not spicy cologne and the smallest hint of cheese. Belatedly, she realized the cheese smell was probably Plagg’s doing.
“Uh…” He said awkwardly, before sighing and patting her on the back.
“I’m sorry,” she pulled away. “Even though…” she trailed off with a blush, embarrassed with what she had done. “You just look like him.”
“I know,” he shrugged. “I worried about coming. I’m prepared for people to see me and burst into tears. Or hug me, like you did. I get it. As much as I would like otherwise, I’m willing to tolerate it for today.”
“That’s kind of you.”
His face softened further. “You loved him, didn’t you?”
Amelie gasped. “Felix! You can’t just ask things like that!”
“It’s okay,” Marinette assured, hugging herself. “You’re right. I was—am. I still love him, even though he’s gone.”
“And…you know what happened?”
She nodded. “It sucks. And I really wish I could allow one terrible action to wipe everything away…but I knew him. These last two weeks he wasn’t himself. He was cruel to me in a way I had never seen. It just…it wasn’t Adrien.”
Felix gave her a critical look. “I always assumed my cousin couldn’t hurt a fly. It’s…bizarre, what happened.”
“It’s not public knowledge,” Amelie reminded. “And it should stay that way.”
“Who are we protecting by lying about it? The ‘Brand’? The family? Adrien himself?”
“What are they saying, anyway?” Asked Marinette.
“They’re saying both Adrien and Gabriel died from an in-home accident.”
“Vague,” said Felix. “Suspicious.”
“But better than ‘unknown causes’ at least,” said Marinette.  “Maybe it’s selfish, but I want Adrien to be remembered for all the good he did…” As Chat Noir, her brain added, “and not the demons he faced in the end.”
“Still, I can’t help but wonder what made him snap,” he mused, looking at Marinette. “Do you have any idea what may have caused it?”
Her mind went back to two weeks, when he had asked her to dinner. He was nervous, and told her he had something to tell her.
And then that phone call a few nights ago. What had he said? Something about the basement?
“I’m…not sure. I’d have to think about it.”
“Perhaps you two could consider this mystery another day? Not during the visitation?” Amelie urged.
“Sorry mom, you’re right.” He glanced back at Marinette. “If you have anything on this, I’d love to hear it. I care deeply for Adrien, and honestly, I’m highly suspicious of these circumstances.”
Amelie huffed. “Darling, you heard Nathalie, what she saw, what the police found, it’s pretty cut and dry…”
“People don’t just murder their father’s for no reason! Especially with supposedly flawless mental health!”
The room grew quiet, as Felix’s outburst was louder than intended. Thankfully, guests had yet to arrive.
“Sorry. This whole thing…I’ve had enough of death in this lifetime.” He cleared his throat. “I need some water.”
When he left, Amelie squeezed her shoulder. “Don’t let Felix get to you. It’s just hard for him. He has so much in common with Adrien, it’s a little scary for him.”
Oh. That made sense. Fear he’d snap too?
“It was sudden for everyone. We’re all going through it.”
“They said you were having a moment alone with Adrien. I'll let you get back to it.” She squeezed her shoulder and left her in peace.
So now Marinette was left to wonder what she could possibly do. Where to even start? She didn’t need anymore time with an empty casket.
An' give me six crap shooting pall bearers,
Let a chorus girl sing me a song.
Put a red hot jazz band at the top of my head
So we can raise Hallelujah as we go along.
There were a few more guests now, but it was still a little early. She saw a man in a suit arranging flowers. He had a name tag on his lapel.
As casual as she could, she snuck over to him. “Excuse me, are you the funeral director by chance?”
“Oh? Yes I am. Bill Hunkerson, at your service. How can I help?”
She had to phrase this very carefully, to not be suspicious. “I’m a very close friend of Adrien’s. He was wearing a silver ring when he died. It doesn’t actually belong to him, and I was wondering if I could have it back.”
The man turned pale, but plastered on a smile. “Well, he’s probably wearing it now. Unfortunately, after we close the casket, we can’t open it again.”
She knew that was a big fat lie. And Marinette hated liars.
She lowered her voice. “Well, since his body isn’t actually in the casket, it shouldn’t be that hard, should it?”
The man stared at her, wide eyed, no longer smiling. “How did you—“ He frowned. “Look miss, I’m just doing what I’m paid for. I don’t know anything. That ring is probably gone forever, and I’d stop this search now.” He straightened his tie and bowed his head slightly. “If you’ll excuse me.”
Marinette opened her purse when she was alone. “I don’t know about you, Tikki, but I’ve got a bunch of red flags and alarm bells going off inside my head.”
“This isn’t good! We need to get that ring!”
“We need to find out what happened to Adrien’s body!”
“Yes, of course, that too!”
Marinette gnawed at the inside of her cheek. “Hey, no offense to Plagg, but wouldn’t he know to bring the ring back to me? If he can’t remove it, then wouldn’t he come tell me about it?”
Tikki’s eyes widened. “You’re right! If he died under normal circumstances, yes…but if he was transformed when he died…”
“Then what?”
“Plagg probably would be forced back into the ring. That’s probably why he didn’t come!”
“Now I’m even more worried and confused.” Marinette crossed her arms. “What if Adrien isn’t actually dead?”
“What do you mean?”
“What if…he ran away? And Gabriel made it out like he died? What if Gabriel’s still alive too?”
“It’s a theory, but I don’t know how well it will hold water.”
She studied the room again, trying not to draw attention to herself. She was supposed to be grieving after all.
Felix sat in the chairs over by the stairs, his back to the growing crowd.
Even if they didn’t really get along, two skeptics working together would be better than each on their own.
“Do you mind if I join you?” She asked.
“I suppose not.” He sighed.
Marinette sat in the chair next to him, and sat quietly for a moment, trying to decide how to proceed. She didn’t want to reveal her whole hand, but maybe playing a few cards would be to her advantage.
Felix beat her to it. He let out a weak chuckle. “I hate this family.”
What an awful thing to say at wake. “Why’s that?” She asked calmly.
“They die too quickly. It sounds so awful, I know. But it’s just my mother and I now. Grandparents are long gone, then my Aunt Emilie, then my father, and now them. It sucks and I’m sick of stupid funerals.”
“It must be hard. I’m sorry.”
“Yeah, well...I’m a pro at it now.” He was resting his cheek on his hand, and was staring at the corner of a wall, just pointedly avoiding eye contact. Still, she could see he had red in his eyes. Though she chose to ignore it. Felix seemed to be the type to hide his tears.
“You know...the last time I talked to Adrien, he told me to check the basement.”
This piqued Felix’s curiosity enough for him to look at her. “Basement? What basement?”
“I suppose here, but I haven’t had the chance to, since you know…all this going on.”
“That doesn’t make any sense. I used to come to this house all the time. It doesn’t have a basement.”
“So…maybe at the company?”
“Could be. I wouldn’t know.”
“Okay, I just wondered...since you were family…”
He growled. “Yeah, some family.”
“Do you...want to talk about it?” She offered, really hoping he would take the bait.
He chuckled again, no humor in his tone. “Might as well, no one around left to hide things from.” He leaned back in the chair. “Gabriel is...was a very private person. I tried to love him, since he was my uncle, but he did a very good job at keeping us at a distance. Adrien was the opposite. We talked often, even when his mom and my dad died and things got rough. Sometimes, it didn’t feel like we were welcomed here. But Adrien so wanted a connection. I could feel it in his hugs when we visited. He was starving, Marinette.”
Marinette willed herself not to start crying.
“Mom and I were told by Nathalie that Adrien and Gabriel were caught in a murder-suicide, as enacted by Adrien, early in the morning on the 23rd.”
“Did she tell you where the murder-suicide happened?”
“Nope, just that it happened in this house. As the only living relatives, she asked if we could come and help with the funeral arrangements.”
“Were you involved in all of it?”
“I thought mom and I did all of it together, but there was one thing that Nathalie insisted on and wouldn’t budge.”
“What’s that?”
“Gabriel is going to be interred in the Agreste family mausoleum, but Adrien…” he sighed with disgust. “As punishment, he’s getting an unmarked grave.”
“What!?”
“That was the compromise. The truth about the murder-suicide, which I am believing less and less, would be withheld from the public as long as Adrien was…effectively erased from the family line.”
She couldn’t help the tears that burst forth. “But that’s not fair! He didn’t do anything wrong! He couldn’t’ve!”
“Yeah kid, I know. I agree.” He scowled. “It makes me sick. I hate it. Adrien was suffering in life, and now he’s going to suffer in death.”
“You don’t think he did it?”
“Do you?”
She shook her head. “I can’t. I know what’s been said, and what people saw...but it just can’t be true.” And she had evidence to prove it, in the form of that empty casket.
“You won’t mention I said any of this to my mom, right? She’s also having a hard time, but she tells me I’m in denial.”
“I won’t say a word.”
Folks, now that you have heard my story,
Say, boy, hand me another shot of that booze;
If anyone should ask you,
Tell 'em I've got those St. James Infirmary blues.
I’m not sure about next week’s update. I’m going camping and I don't know what the wifi will be like. Fingers crossed!
Lukalix December
Day 25 - Presents
———————————————————————
Already, Alix had handed Luka quite a few presents she had made. Including a few more canvas’ as well as a custom guitar and headphones she had ordered for be designed for her boyfriend, with her having added a few things of her own such as the flowers that had been on her secret Santa present for him as well. She had given him a bit too many presents that she knew he wouldn’t be comfortable with the amount so she was hoping he wouldn’t notice how many he had received from her in total. She had gotten quite a few in return, including some special edition kitty section merch that made her heart soar, in particular the hoodie with their signatures. She had also gotten a new pair of roller skates. Her heart was ecstatic seeing them. They even had little kitty section and snake logos stitched onto the sides, with blue and pink being the popping colors against the black.
Currently, she was sat on the roof with Viperion, handing him yet another gift. This one was a photo collage of some of their moments, such as the concert when she was just a new member. As well as Gorizilla 2.0 when they had fell on top of each other in an embarrassingly intimate position. Bunnix sighed lovingly when he opened it, his eyes lighting up with excitement. “Oh my god, it’s so cute!! Did you get all of these from Alya?” She nodded joyfully, leaning against her boyfriend. Her foot thumped lightly against the concrete as his hand scratched at her scalp, getting just the right spot for a slight itch to be satisfied. “Thumper.” He chuckled, before pausing slightly. “Wait a second.” He lowered his palm from her hair, allowing her to continue snuggling up to him though. He started counting his fingers under his breath, muttering numbers quietly.
“Alix..” Bunnix made a small noise in response, not wanting to move from his side. “You got me 14 presents.” The girl smiled, “And?” Viperion huffed at her. “And?!? That’s way too many! How much money did you spend?!?” Bunnix hummed softly, “Around $700. Not even a dent in my account.” Her boyfriend stared at her, jaw practically hitting the floor. “What??” She couldn’t take the look of bewilderment on his face, falling backwards and laughing hysterically. “O-Oh my god you are so cute!! I just had to spoil you rotten!” Viperion growled slightly, but not out of anger. He wished he could afford more expensive gifts for her, but he could not. While he was starting to be better off thanks to his band, he still was quite far from being able to afford the kinds of things Alix could.
“No more presents, that’s enough. I can’t let you spend that much on me when I can’t pay it back.” Bunnix frowned slightly, sitting up with a disappointed look. “Aw, really? Because I wanted to give you one last gift.” Viperion glared at her. “No. Absolutely not. Do not give me anything else.” She chuckled slightly. “Look up.” The anger melted off his face, glancing upwards. A piece of mistletoe dangled from a burrow portal, a white hand holding it up. He stared at it momentarily, feeling the heat rise to his face realizing what she was implying. Bunnix still smiled, “But..if you really don’t want it.” She trailed off, the smile shifting into a mischievous grin. “I could just leave.” Viperion whirled around, yanking her back towards him. “Absolutely not, get back here.”
“Oh so now you want my gifts, huh?” Viperion huffed lightly, a cloud of cool air hitting her. “Shush. I’ve been wanting this ever since we kissed in the rain a couple months ago.” Bunnix let her hands drop to his sides. “Very greedy of you, but I’ll indulge in it anyways.” She whispered, finally giving in and pressing her lips to his. Her eyes had closed immediately on contact, a fuzzy warmth spreading through her that buzzed in her heart with happiness. She practically melted against him, smiling into the kiss as his hands gripped the hair along the back of her neck. They pulled apart, both with a flushed face. Her hands had raised from her partners sides to his neck during the ordeal, without even her realizing.
Viperion made a noise similar to a purr, pressing a soft kiss into the crook of her neck affectionately, the girl laughing at the feather light kisses that tickled her skin. “Hey! Quit it.” She snickered, batting at his hair. “Thank you, I think that was my favorite gift.” He hummed, running a thumb along her cheek lightly. “I think it was mine too. Would be a shame if I were to give you another one, that would mean you’d have 16 gifts.” He went quiet, staring at her. “I think I can accept such lovely gifts as long as they are free.”
“You fool, they aren’t. They come at the cost of my heart. Each kiss steals a piece of it.” He leaned a bit closer, his fingers tugging lightly at her lip. “Well then, I suppose I’ll have to kiss you multiple times to steal each piece of your heart. I want it all, now. I’ve become greedy.” A grin spread across her face, “I suppose, though you’ve already taken most of it away, you thief. It’s going to be a long night, isn’t it?”
Later that night, as Anarka Couffaine walked the wharf of the seine, a person cloaked in a mysterious hood of black approached her. She placed a hand on her knifes cover, just in case of this being an aggressor. But the person only handed her a box, neatly wrapped. “Give this to your son, please. It’s for him.” She blinked slightly. “Ah- Alright I suppose? Who are you?” A small smile was visible under the veil. “Just say it’s from Bun. He’ll know who it is.” The person laughed, sounding rather feminine as they ran off. “Merry Christmas!” They cheered.
A Miraculous DC Crossover
ALL RIGHT!!
I’ve been sucked into this unholy sub-fandom and I have thoughts okay? lots of them. Almost none are coherent and I don’t care. I have no plotline to write a fic but by the gods do I need to get out all my ideas.
Behold:
the Salttm
Lila, obviously. But she’s a petty nuisance at best, and an annoyingly competent akuma to fight at worst. manipulative, but not really dangerous ya feel?
Alya. which like, home girl probably doesn’t deserve but like,,, the drama??
CHLOE REDEMPTION YOU COWARDS
She and Marinette become surprisingly good friends (because I love that for both of them and you can pry it from me cold, dead hands)
Nettie-bug and Queenie
They pick on Adrien together
Mari’s friends Protection Squad That Don’t Take No Shit
Adrien
Chloe
NINO BITCH HE DESERVES MORE LOVE TBH
Alix?? Probably
Luka obvi
Felix (PV)?? Or does Marinette have enough emotionally constipated boys in her life?
(Answer: no. no she does not.)
Nath? He be a good fox tbh. creative and sneaky boi
Kagami!!! I love her
They’re all heroes because I say so.
Felix (Sparrow) is an honorary member even though he doesn’t have a miraculous
He handles PR and other background things along with Chloe
Joined up a few years back when Parisians were getting a bit too critical of the heroes
No Hawkmoth b/c fuck that guy
He existed, just not anymore. Bitch got yeeted
There’s other villains in town now. After Hawkmoth’s defeat other metas/supervillains looked at Paris and was just like, ‘free real estate?”
So now the Miraculous Team are Paris’ Actual Full-Time Hero TeamTM… yay.
Ladybug, Chat Noir, and Abielle (or like, Wasp/Yellow Jacket idk Chloe changes her name because ~identity stuff~) are the core three team. like, the wonder woman/batman/superman trio of the MTeam.
Nath is called Reynard Ambre b/c I love him
The public knows he exists but he’s never seen in battle and no pictures exist.
but there are plenty of instances where Paris knows he out mucking around because those akuma battles always get really weird.
Marinette be the guardian?
Guardian in training
Along with all the other holders b/c jesus. Give the girl a break.
Yeah. I like that Idea. All current holders are training to be guardians as well, but Mari’s going to step up as Guardian Supreme when Fu steps down.
Hero fashion!!!
The Miraculous Team is all decked out in their own merch like 24/7
Rarely is it thier own hero persona tho
Not because of like,,,, secrecy or anything. Just because they’re all nerds who love each other
Marinette is the lead producer of Miraculous Merchandise. It’s like,,, her BrandTM It was completely unintentional too
(Adrien and Chloe financially support her work tho. She designs, makes a prototype, and has her two blondes get others to replicate it)
Half of Paris is wearing her without knowing it
(Go MDC! get it girl!)
She totally makes Gotham inspired outfits because what else would she do????
Don’t get her wrong, most of Gotham’s fashion sense royally pisses her off but it’s fun and hey, supporting her fellow heroes ya know?
She wears a Robin hoodie after being officially acquainted with both Damian and Robin (separately of course)
Damian chokes on something, probably his own tongue.
It confuses Nettie. But then she thinks maybe he’s a fan too? She offers to make one for him but he steadfastly refuses much to his brothers’ amusement.
Might make a robin themed dress?? If so, she crosses paths with Robin when she does, thoroughly embarrassing her and almost sending poor Dami into a crisis.
Rogues Gallery
She makes a lot of designs off the rouges gallery because like, supporting people trying to get better??? also they’re some of the few who’s aesthetic aint shit?
She can’t make all of them because she ran out of time, so the rest get posited up on her Instagram and MDC blog (that’s run by Tikki mostly. She’s a great secretary and gets bored in Mari’s purse all the time)
Everyone is very flattered
Harley, if she ever finds it, immediately commission all pieces and wears them around Gotham don’t @ me
Daminette obvi
Marinette meets him and is just like ‘wow, you’re horrible. I want five’
Marinette, in the group chat later: so I met Kagami and Felix’s love child today
Kagami and Felix, seconds apart: I would never stoop so low
immediately after: Hey what the fuck? Rude
Nino: Nettie, dearest, sunshine, light of our collective lives and reason I breathe, what the fuck
Adrien: Kagami, my love, how could you? the Betrayal
Chloe: ew
Luka: Send pics or it didn’t happen
Nath: [insert the ‘right in front of my salad?’ meme]
Whenever they cross paths as Robin and Mari, he’ll just like,,, appear from nowhere hanging upside down spiderman style. Mari finds it endearing but she also wants him to stop scaring the shit out of her
Nicknames, because I have an unhealthy obsession with them, alright?
Misc Mari names: Bug, Bugaboo, Buginette, Madame President/Colonel (when the Team’s being cheeky), Princess, Marigold, Nettie (by like, Nino and Alix)
Jason calls her Pixie-pop
The bird boys call her Nightingale/Mockingbird in like, honor of her being a kickass civillian
Mari refers to them as ‘the flock’ (and bird-brains after getting to know them better)
Damian calls her: Starling, Habibti, ya qamar(my moon), malaki (angel), ya wardati(my flower) (b/c like, angel’s cute an all but I just think Damian’s way more dramatic than that tbh. he’d put thought into his nicknames)
Mari calls Damian: mon soleil (my sunshine) (because symmetry and also Mari thinks she’d hilarious), Birdie, petit oiseau/oisillon
I like the idea of Jagged being a native Gothamite tbh
it’s just so fun honestly???
He’s probably the reason the MTeam are in Gotham in the first place? maybe? anyway, the class is there, right? right.
Kagami, Luka and Felix are all holding the fort down in Paris. Ain't no akumas but sometimes they need backup so when certain heroes need to disappear, Nath has Trixx set up an illusion of whichever one so they can slip away with the horse miraculous.
Mari’s the one who has to leave the most because she’s still Paris’ damage control, so like,,,,, ya know.
Mari doesn’t get left behind, at least not on the first day b/c come on people! She has plenty of friends in class watching out for her and a semi-competent teacher who does care even if she’s non-confrontational to a fault.
She does eventually become separated from the group. Half because of Lila and half because she’s always fucking late and got distracted.
She actually runs into one of the civilian batfam in the first place because the class was allowed an hour or so to wander around the shopping district or whatever to explore/buy things/get food. They just needed to return to the meetup spot at a certain time but Mari is like ten minutes away when it’s five minutes to the meetup
So she’s just… fucking booking it and completely takes out this trained vigilante without trying to.
Mari, as she’s groaning on the ground, tangled around a boy: By Kwamii, I thought my luck was supposed to be good Tikki.
That or like, the subway doors close before she can get on them and the rest of the class ends up ahead of her leaving her to get caught up on some bullshit in the next train or smth.
Oh, like. Of course it’s her train that gets held hostage. Wonderful.
(Later, Mari will rant at Tikki about her luck. A common conversation between the two tbh.)
This could be where she officially meets the Batfam as the Batfam. Or, like. A couple of em, at least.
Marinette getting serial adopted by the whole goddamn batfamily because i will die for this trope tbh i dont even care
The Robins nickname her Nightingale before they realize she’s Ladybug
They still call her that after but it’s not with the intention of making it her hero name anymore
Her and Alfred are def bros you don’t understand
Actually, Gina and Alfred are old friends. Mari totally knows Alfie before the bat fam and calls him Poppy/Pépé
which floors the batfam because what? Since when does that happen???
Alfred and Mari never, like, actually met in person before, but video chats exist and Gina def talks about the two to each other so it’s like they may as well know each other.
I also like the idea of Alfred being a former holder, probably the peacock. I would adore that
Just,,,, so many fun hero shenanigans
Yeah sure. The batfam are super detectives and have a history of figuring out people’s identities in no time at all. Whatever. Where’s the drama in that though? The showmanship?
Fuck canon, the Miraculous all have glamours because magic bitch and it plays fucking hell on the Batfam and all their shit
Every single Batfam member is simultaneously pulling their hair out because they don’t know who these heroes are???? Why can they figure them out?? Confusion???????
Miraculous team is just…. Straight up laughing at them. The poor dears.
That one gag where it’s a well-known secret that Mari has connections to every Parisian hero and is basically their own personal catering service/comfort place.
Also, it’s the worst kept secret in Paris that Mari is Multimouse
None of the MTeam have confirmed that rumour but they also don’t deny it.
they actually started the rumour. If all of Paris thinks Mari’s the mouse, a temporary hero, no one’s going to think she’s Ladybug/or that she’s an easy target to go after
chloe actually came up with that one
Mari meeting all of Damian’s ‘associates’ (ie pets)
She adores all of them and they her.
Especially GOLIATH, why isn’t he talked about more honestly???? He’s GREAT
She meets Goliath as Ladybug and Robin is just… so done with him??? You are supposed to be a fearsome beast and a professional why are you rolling over and expoSING YOUR STOMACH??? Meanwhile, Ladybug is just: Awww! Who’s a good boy? Who’s the best boy? You are! Look at how handsome you are! Cute widdle baby-
Miraculous Team hanging on the roof of their hotel kinda chilling
Maybe having a debate about doing some free-running/parkour?
Also maybe about whether or not they should be heroes while in Gotham
MT being like, why can’t we go and stop an armed robbery? we can help!
“Gotham already has very active heroes-”
“Vigilantes!”
“-whatever. I don’t want us stepping on any toes. This isn’t our terf and Batman’s known for being strict about Metas rolling around here.”
“We aren’t Metas though.”
“I don’t think he’ll enjoy splitting that particular hair, Nino. Just- not unless lives are at stake, okay? Emergencies only.”
“Yes, Colonel Ladybug.”
This debate most def gets crashed by batfam and confusion ensues upon both sides
batfam didn’t hear anything, they’re just really confused about these french kids hanging out on a roof in Gotham
Just.... yes. all of that. I have like, more but those are not organized or even remotely coherent. here you go! I might write for this but I already have other fics rn so... it wouldn’t be for a while. and as I said, I have no plot.
take this though, i guess. *throws confetti*
Cherry Blossoms (2)
Kagami comes to a horrifying realization
Read on AO3
---
One thing Kagami did dislike about spring time was all the pollen in the air. Allergies had hit her hard these past coming weeks. Her eyes were watery, she couldn’t stop sneezing, and there was a persistent tickle in her throat that would not go away. Medicine helped but it didn’t block out everything which was a shame. Especially when Kagami was at home and trying to be quiet around her mother and she had to clear her throat every ten minutes.
She could not afford to be dogged down by allergies today though. In the days that had passed since Kagami had met Marinette, the girl that made Kagami’s world pink, they had gotten closer. Adrien was not joking about how easy it was to want to be Marinette’s friend. She was like a large blooming flower and everyone around her were buzzing bees or fluttering butterflies.
While the stand out feature about Marinette was her overwhelming kindness and positivity Kagami was noticing that there was a lot more to her. Marinette could be a bit of a dork. She made bad jokes just like Adrien and got excited about really mundane stuff. She was also incredibly smart. Not just booksmart, the girl was legitimately very clever. Coming up with new solutions to problems that work spectacularly well. She was a leader but treated everyone as equals when they worked together. She never talked down to someone, even when their ideas were stupid.
Kagami was starting to wonder if Marinette had any faults. She seemed too perfect to be real.
Then came the day that they went out to the pool. While the weather had gotten warmer everyone was impatient to get to warmer weather and summer time. So to chase away the hay fever blues Kagami and her friends had decided to go to the swimming pool at the local gym.
Kagami came out in a conservative red one piece bathing suit that was more practical than pretty. The others came out in full in their own swimming attire. Then Marinette walked into the room and all eyes turned. Kagami breathed out in relief when she saw the large yellow cover up Marinette was wearing. Maybe Marinette was one of those people that just liked to sit at the edge with her feet in the water. That would be the safest option. No need for anyone to have a sudden nose bleed at seeing her in a swimsuit.
Just as Kagami had predicted Marinette sat on the sidelines talking with her friends with her feet in the water. Kagami swam up to her.
“This was a nice idea,” Kagami said, “Getting everyone together to go swimming. Everyone seems to be having a lot of fun.”
“Some more than others,” Marinette giggled and pointed across the pool where Kim was trying to get his girlfriend Ondine on his shoulders for a chicken fight. “They do know that the lifeguard is going to yell at them for that, right?”
“The lifeguard is too busy eyeing up Juleka to notice,” Kagami said.
“Oh geez,” Marinette cupped her hands around her mouth, “She has a girlfriend! Stop ogling! She’s way too young for you anyway!”
Kagami stifled a snort. “Wow, didn’t know you were just gonna yell at him like that. I didn’t think it was possible for you to get mad anyone.”
“Oh my sweet Kagami,” Marinette said, “You don’t know how fired up I can really get. That was tame in comparison.”
“Really?” she smirked, “Didn’t peg you as the hotheaded type. What does it take to get you of all people angry?”
“Having a lack of human decency for one--gimme a second--” she shouted at the lifeguard again, “She’s sixteen, gay, and in the three foot end of the pool! How about you pay attention to the idiots on each other’s shoulders over this way!”
The lifeguard sneered but blew his whistle to get the others to stop.
“Marinette!” Alix whined from atop Ivan’s shoulders, “I was just about to win!”
“Boo!” Kim called, “Marinette’s a rat!”
“Don’t get upset at me because you were being irresponsible.” Marinette called back.
The four teenagers shared a look and as one pulled themselves out of the pool and started making their way towards where Marinette and Kagami were. What were they planning? Marinette seemed to sense what was about to happen and scrambled to her feet.
“Oh no you don’t!” Kim grabbed before she could escape, “Ivan, get her feet!”
Ivan scooped up Marinette’s flailing feet.
“Don’t you dare!” Marinette screeched but there was a playful smile on her face, “Kim, I swear if you throw me in the pool you will live to regret it.”
“I think I can live with that,” he smiled back, “On three. One...two...three!” the boys tossed Marinette into the deep end of the pool in a mass of flailing noodle limbs.
She surfaced again sputtering and coughing as she cleared the water from her nose. Everyone was laughing and having a good time.
“You okay?” Kagami swam over to her.
“I’m fine, they’re just a bunch of jokesters who are going to get their comeuppance one day. You hear me, Kim!”
“I’ll believe it when I see it, girly!” Kim cackled and took off with the others once more.
Marinette pulled herself back out of the water and stripped off her now soaked cover up. Kagami almost had a stroke. Underneath her modesty saving cover up was a black two piece that complimented her petite figure perfectly. Kagami turned away so she couldn’t see her blushing face.
Stop it! Stop getting so flustered! She’s just one girl!
Kagami glanced up and noticed that the pervy life guard that had been ogling Juleka was now looking their way. Was he mad that they called him out on being a creep? No...that wasn’t the face of someone who was angry. She looked back at Marinette who was ringing out her coverup and settling it over a chair to dry.
Not today captain pervert! Kagami climbed out of the pool and threw her towel over Marinette. She looked up at Kagami confused. “Hi there, why did you--”
“That lifeguard needs to get reported or something. His eyes were practically glued to your butt, the pig.” Kagami sneered.
“Gross!” Marinette pulled Kagami’s towel closer, shielding herself from any unwanted attention. “I was thinking about getting in the pool but I really don’t want to now.”
“There’s a hot tub in that room over there that no one is using and the lifeguard can’t see into. Did you wanna go in there for a bit?” Kagami suggested.
“Perfect,” the girls adjourned to the hot tub, all the while glaring daggers at the perverted lifeguard. Kagami was going to report him before they left today. Now safely away from the prying eyes the girls sunk into the steaming, bubbling water with sighs of relief.
“Swimming is well and good but I think there’s something very nice about just being able to lounge like this.” Marinette sunk down in her seat so the water lapped at her chin.
“It is rather nice to be able to unwind after a long day, maybe I should try to talk my mother into getting one of these at home. It’d be a god send to have it for after fencing practice.” Kagami hummed in agreement. “Hopefully the steam can also help with my allergies. They have been a nightmare recently.”
“That sucks. Medicine doesn’t help?”
“Not as well as it should.” as if to prove her point Kagami’s throat began to scratch and tickle again. “Ugh,” she coughed, “I think the steam is trying to dislodge the mucus so that’s a plus at least.”
Oh god she just talked about mucus in front of Marinette.
“Poor Kagami,” Marinette wrapped her thin arms around her. She rested her head on Kagami’s shoulder. “It’s such a shame you have to suffer during one of the most beautiful times of the year.”
“Yeah…” Kagami stifled another cough, “Really stinks…”
Marinette let go but didn’t move back to her spot on the other side of the hot tub. Instead opting to sit right next to Kagami to talk. Kagami was thankful for the heat since it hid the hot red blush in her cheeks. How could Marinette be this comfortable when Kagami was fighting to keep herself together?
A few minutes later everyone had to leave. Apparently the pervy lifeguard from before hadn’t learned his lesson and turned his gaze on Alya. Nino rightfully got pissed that this creep was eyeing his girlfriend and they got into a fight. Not the best way to end what was supposed to be a fun outing but at least the lifeguard had gotten what was coming to him.
“We should do this again when someone less creepy isn’t on lifeguard duty.” Marinette sat on the edge of the hot tub, reluctant to leave the sweet warmth just yet.
Kagami nodded in agreement. She had already gotten out and was toweling off. She was trying her best not to stare at Marinette. The last thing she needed was to get caught admiring the way the ends of her hair curled when they dried or the sprinkling of freckles along her shoulders. Or how her face was extra rosy and dewy looking from being in the steam. Or how jealous she was of the droplets of water that ran down her arms and back like a sweet caress--
Oh for the love of teenage hormones! Stop it!
“Since we had to cut this short what do you think about grabbing some juice?” Marinette swung her legs out and slipped.
“Marinette!” Kagami caught her just before she could fall and righted her back on the edge of the hot tub. “Are you okay?”
“I’m fine, thanks for catching me,” Marinette had settled her arms on Kagami’s shoulders for stability. It was at this moment Kagami realized that she had grabbed hold of Marinette’s waist and was now standing between her spread legs. Marinette smiled down at her like none of this bothered her in the least. It probably didn’t. Of course it wouldn’t. Why should it? She was Marinette and Kagami was just the nice friend that kept her from slipping off the edge of the hot tub. Nothing more to think of. Certainly nothing that would make one combust from raging hormones.
“Of course,” Kagami let go but stayed close enough to help if Marinette fell. She didn’t. Good. For numerous reasons.
“Now I have to insist on getting juice,” Marinette said as she started drying off, “A thank you for saving me.”
“It was really nothing. Don’t feel like you have to award me for being a decent person.” Kagami told her.
“Nonsense, besides, it’s just juice.”
“Alright then,” Kagami couldn’t say no to her, “Juice sounds wonderful.”
“Great! I’ll ask the others if they wanna come too!” Marinette bounced happily out of the room to talk to the others.
Once Kagami was sure she was alone she balled up her towel and screamed into it. This cannot be happening! She cannot be catching feelings for Marinette! Why did god have to put such a beautiful and perfect specimen of a girl in front of her and expect her not to fall? She was like the first warm breeze of spring that cut through the wintry cold. What was Kagami next to her but a chipmunk in hibernation waiting for her to return and be awoken? There were probably a million people that felt that exact same way and yet none of them probably thought of her as anything more than a friend while Kagami had to suffer with her pitched emotions. Every day since she met her those feelings bubbled closer and closer to the service and Kagami wasn’t sure how long she would be able to keep them in.
Most of the class went to get juice after they finished changing. At least in a crowd Kagami could put some distance between her and Marinette. She seated herself at the other end of the table next to Adrien and sucked down her drink to avoid talking.
“You okay?” Adrien asked, “You’ve barely said a word since we left the pool. Did the lifeguard put you off? I can understand if he did.”
“It’s not that,” Kagami sighed, her gaze flicking over to Marinette for the briefest moment, “I just have a lot on my mind.”
“Anything you want to talk about? I’m always here if you need someone.”
“Thanks, Adrien, but I don’t know how you can help in a situation like this. It’s nothing really. Just stupid teenage crap that I am terrible at handling because I have never had to deal with something like it before.”
“You unable to handle something? That’s a first. What could have the great and fearless Kagami Tsurugi so thoroughly flummoxed?”
More like who. Kagami thought sadly. This time when she glanced at Marinette she saw her and waved. Kagami swallowed back another gulp of juice before waving back.
“You know,” Adrien said, “If you don’t feel comfortable talking to me about it maybe you can ask Marinette. She loves helping her friends and she’s seen and dealt with all of our teen drama. There’s nothing the girl can’t handle.”
“I’m sure but it really is nothing. Certainly nothing to bother Marinette about.” How would that conversation even go? Hello, Marinette, I believe I like you and may even be falling in love with you the more I get to know you and I don’t know how to handle that while still remaining your friend. Thoughts? She may as well tear out her heart and offer it up on a silver platter for her to eat while she’s at it. It would certainly be less painful and a lot quicker.
The group adjourned for the day and Kagami said a quick goodbye but not before Marinette grabbed hold of her and pulled her into a hug. “Have a nice evening, Kagami. I’ll talk to you tomorrow. Bye!”
“Goodbye,” Kagami whispered the word but Marinette was already huffing it away from the cafe.
“Hey! How come I didn’t get a goodbye hug?” Adrien pouted, “Lucky you, I knew you two would get along great.”
“Yep.” Kagami coughed, “Lucky me.”
She locked herself in her room when she returned home. Her cough had come back with a vengeance and no allergy or cold medicine would relieve it. Her thoughts would not still either. Every time she closed her eyes visions of Marinette from today assaulted her. It felt like she was back in the hot tub choking on the heat and steam. Marinette’s head on her shoulder, Kagami’s hands on her waist, that dazzling smile beaming down at her with gratitude.
So pure. So kind. Like a bundle of pink cotton candy that melted into decadent sugary sweetness on her tongue. Goodness, this girl was turning her into a poet if nothing else. Just saying that she was beautiful and kind and fantastic wasn’t enough. It would never be enough.
Another raucous round of coughing wracked her body and tears sprung to her eyes with the intensity of it. When it finally ended she rubbed the tears from her eyes and gazed down at the three little pink cherry blossom petals in her lap. She picked one up and inspected the delicate flower in the waning light of the setting sun. Where on earth did these…
A hand flew to her throat.
Oh...
Oh no.
For the second time that day she grabbed for something to smother the intensity of her screams.
Buried Six Feet Under
First Ending - Part Two
Second Ending - Part Two
One hour.
One hour was all it took for the memories to resurface. The memories of the past few months containing a broken doll and a shattered heart.
There had been an uproar.
The police were called.
The news were alerted.
The world began to wake up.
And there had been tears that day. Many.
From the same people who were crying now, in a spacious hall with hundreds of seats. They were all full.
The rain pattered down onto the roof above, and lightning was heard to strike every so often. One would think that the gods were angry this day.
They had every right to be - and they were.
The gates surrounding the building were locked tight, leaving out a group of students that were huddled near the entrance. Most of them wept, their tears mingling with the water pouring down. Their black outfits became drenched.
A bespectacled girl at the front held onto the barriers blocking her from getting in. She screamed and yelled until her voice was sore, yet no one cared. All were too busy staring at an enormous screen indoors, that flickered to life to reveal something painfully familiar.
Someone painfully familiar.
Jagged Stone - a man with purple locks who was gripping tight to a pair of Eiffel Tower-inspired glasses - pressed a key on the computer at the stage.
The video began to play.
"Okay, umm...hi!" the person recording greeted, nervous smile gracing her features. "I'm Marinette Dupain-Cheng, also known as the superhero 'Ladybug'. You may know me through Tom and Sabine's Boulangerie Patisserie, since, well, they're my parents."
She let out an awkward chuckle, scratching the back of her neck.
There was a sob from the front of the crowd.
"I'm making this video because...uh, I want this to be seen if something happens to me in battle. An akuma battle, that this. You see...some villains have been extremely tough, and, well..."
The bluenette let out a sigh. Her expression became grim in an instant, and her tone serious. It reminded those watching of the heroine that they had come to love.
"Hawk Moth has found out a way to translate the Guardian's book, which, long story short, allows him and Mayura to become even stronger. That's why I wanted to make this video."
She glanced to the side, and unmistakable tears were seen to be forming at the rims of her glossy eyes. "I...I've seen Chat Noir get hurt before. I've seen him get- get killed too many times. It's entirely possible that I'll end up with the same fate."
A sniffle escaped her, but she chose to wipe at her eyes and let out a dry chuckle. Her tone was wobbly as she dryly stated, "Chat, he...he isn't as serious as I am about this whole thing. About this whole job. And I hope that after he sees this, he learns that Hawk Moth needs to be taken down. If I have to sacrifice my own life for that..."
She shrugged. "...so be it."
Marinette's eyes wandered over to something off-screen, and she beamed at whatever it was.
"Tikki's asleep right now, so I have to make this quick. I...I wanted to ask those who are watching a favour. If, if you get this then could you- could you pass on my earrings to someone else? Well- someone in particular, actually. Paris needs two heroes to take care of it, after all."
She leaned forward and out of frame for a few seconds. Then she returned with a coloured picture, that had two girls grinning at the camera. She pointed to one of them.
"This is Alya Cesaire - my best friend and one that I sincerely trust to take on the mantle of Ladybug. She, she's amazing. I have so much faith in her, and I know that she'll be perfect for the role."
A blond in the audience clenched his fists.
The designer grinned. "I actually wanted to hand over my earrings to her when I first got them but decided not to - it was a close call, though. Please show this video to her, by the way. I want to say something."
Marinette gained a smirk, as she started, "Hey, bestie! How's it going? I'm, I'm sorry about not telling you who I am, but...a secret is a secret, right? I know you would've loved the scoop. You have all of my support to defeat Hawk Moth, Alya. I'm sure that Tikki will guide you though everything. That is, if she's able to. Oh! That reminds me - I have a request that I wanted to ask of you. I...can you show this to Chat?"
He took in a raspy breath.
"Hey, Kitty. I just wanted to tell you that, well...I'm afraid that the mantle of the Guardian will have to go to you, since you're the only one alive that can take it - barring Hawk Moth, of course."
She pursed her lips. "You're my partner, Chat. The best one that I could have ever asked for. I hope that you'll be able to keep your head up and stay strong alongside Alya, and protect the Miracle Box."
And let the tears flow.
"Oh, and if it isn't too much to ask...can, can I stay with Tikki, even if I'm gone? You don't have to bury me with the earrings or anything, but...just visit my grave, please? With Tikki. She's been with me through thick and thin and is quite emotional when it comes to her holders from what I've heard. I wouldn't want her to live with the guilt of my death."
Adrien found himself nodding with a whimper.
That was when Marinette suddenly jumped up. She whipped her head to something invisible to her right and yelped. "What? Me? Recording something? Of course not, Tikki! I'm just-"
The screen turned blank again.
Allowing all to hear the choked sob from Chat Noir.
He covered his mouth to muffle his cries, and yet his pathos was clear to everyone around.
And even those outside.
It seemed as if everyone had broken out of their silent stupor, as murmurs began to break out and fill the hero's ears. Murmurs of what would happen to Hawk Moth. What would happen to Paris. What would happen to them all without Ladybug.
Something inside him snapped.
And a growl tore through his throat.
"Stop it!"
Everyone turned to him in surprise. Most edged back at the anger he clearly had restrained.
His cat ears thrashed. His sharp claws flexed. His green eyes dilated.
"That is enough! You're all horrible!" he hissed lowly. "Why can't you see that it isn't Ladybug gone? It's Marinette!"
Sabine and Tom flinched at the mention of their daughter.
"Whether or not she has the mask, she's the same person! And I bet that if she were here she would have agreed with me!"
A man with slicked grey hair and a striped sash rushed forward. "Chat Noir, I'm sure that there's no need for thi-"
"Shut. Up. Before I make you."
The Mayor gulped.
"I'm going, and none of you are going to stop me," he snarled, as he faced the exit of the place. Beneath his breath, he muttered, "You didn't deserve her. None of us did."
Only a few seconds later did thunder strike loud from outside, but Adrien was already somewhere else by that time.
Already gone.
And with the remains of his very partner.
Rain dripped down from his locks to his face, to the point where none could point out what were his tears and what weren't. There was a hush as all stared with baited breath, observing Chat as he knelt in front of a headstone.
A headstone in memory of the one he loved. Still loved.
"I'm sorry, Princess," he choked. "I-I'm so sorry...You didn't deserve any of this."
The crack in his voice made hearts shatter.
"You'll always be my Lady - my Princess. And I'm sorry that I couldn't do more."
His lower lip wobbled. His eyes drifted to the ring at his finger.
And he reached to pull it off.
"I'm the new Ladybug..."
Until he caught the whisper that made his blood run cold.
His now twitching head slowly rotated up to who had spoken. It was none other than Alya Cesaire.
She was stood at the gates to the graveyard, pipe wrench in hand. Behind her were other students from her class, that had tears - or rain, he couldn't tell - pouring down their cheeks.
So did she.
Yet her lips were still poised into some sort of a smile.
"What?"
There were many flinches from the Parisians nearby.
In a more confident tone, the reporter stated, "She named me the new Ladybug."
Silence.
A harsh flare from Chat Noir's heart made him bare his teeth. "So what?"
None were prepared for the shout that soon escaped his mouth.
"You're the reason we need a new Ladybug!"
Adrien stood up, back arched and irises slit. "You're the reason that Paris will be left in shambles! That people will die! That the Guardian is gone!"
His booming bellows quieted to a mumble. "That Marinette is dead."
A fire flared in his eyes.
"You did this..." he growled menacingly, claws out. "It's all your fault!"
As the police force standing guard grabbed at the lunging cat aiming to avenge, none noticed the creature settled on top of Marinette's grave.
The butterfly.
That glowed a faint purple from its droopy wings.
As if it was mourning like the rest of the population for the death of the heroine buried six feet under.
~*~*~
It had been a day since then.
Since the funeral of one Marinette Dupain-Cheng.
And there was a figure approaching the graveyard where those had previously mourned for her.
They stepped over soaked grass and muddy ground. Scattered petals and jagged rocks. Yet they didn't stop.
Their suit became damp from the rain. Their shoes became soggy from the puddles. Yet they still didn't stop.
Not until they reached the grave at the centre of the yard, that stood tall in colours of black and red. Bouquets of daffodils and roses lay around it, along with plush toys of a girl in spotted fabric.
The figure, the man, bent down to inspect the rectangle of dirt in front of the memorial of stone, that had fancy scripture engraved into its surface. There was nothing on the patch. No flowers. No cards. Nothing.
Except for two hexagonal boxes.
Etched onto their lids were markings in blood-red, that depicted messages in a language that none could decipher - apart from the owner of the porcelain shards buried six feet under.
Despite the grime starting to gather on his clothing, the man continued to stare impassively at the items. His icy blue eyes studied the sight in front of him for a few seconds more, until his lips soon pursed tight.
Fingers gripped at cold objects, and brought them into the open in a stiff movement. They hesitated for a moment, as if worried of what they were about to do, then gently deposited their contents onto the dirt.
The figure let out a weary sigh. He stood back up treacherously slow. Then, he snapped his back straight up, and walked past the gates leading out of the graveyard.
He didn't look back.
He only left two items sitting in the mud. Left two items to waste away until the foreseeable future.
Left two miraculous.
And whilst he made his way down the dark and gloomy streets of Paris, dozens of eyes watched from the shadows.
They only had one goal in mind.
To protect their Guardian. The remains of their Guardian.
Until the end of time.
“Alya? Allez-vous à l'intérieur?” Snapping out of her thought, Alya looked at her driver in the rearview mirror, her lips pursing as she looked back out to the street and more specifically, the flower shop on the other side. “Une fois de plus autour du bloc?“ Nodding, Jasmine blew out a breath as the car began moving again, trundling back into the Parisian traffic as her driver made good on his promise to give her some more thinking time, once more around the block. Luckily, he wouldn’t mention that it was already their eighth time doing so.
As the car pulled back up a few minutes later, Alya reached for the door handle. “Oh my god, Alya, get a grip.” Muttering to herself, she nodded before slipping out of the car and hurrying across the road before she could second guess herself. She hadn’t been back to the flower shop since she had been a few days before, but she had been thinking about it ever since. With the thought of him being back in her life again, she couldn’t shake it and after much deliberation and a somewhat plausible excuse, Alya had taken a long lunch to make her way over to the flower shop.
Pushing the door open, Alya ran a hand through her hair as she glanced around, her brow furrowing into a little frown of confusion as she spotted a familiar face, but not the one she was expecting. “Finn? What are you doing here?”
Dousy with longing, marriage, sheepish, soar
Here you go, my dear! Thanks for the prompt!!
It’s nice and sappy and fluffy and all that good stuff 😂🥰❤
.
.
.
Daisy stared out over the shining lake.
Every nerve in her body felt hyper-charged, about to implode with stress. It was only nine o’clock in the morning, and this day was passing way too slowly.
“Why does he have to be so old-fashioned?” she sighed, letting herself fall heavily onto the grassy beach.
From behind her, Jemma laughed. “I thought that’s what you liked about him.”
Daisy smiled carefully and picked a nearby flower, rolling the stem between her fingers. “Sure, except when I can’t even see him today. Stupid traditions.”
“It’s bad luck to see each other today,” Jemma reminded her gently.
Rolling her eyes, Daisy sighed deeply and leaned back onto her elbows. “You got to see Fitz on your wedding day.”
“We also had our ceremony in an underground bunker, during the end of the world, in an enchanted fear-forest. Our luck was bad enough already.” Jemma raised her eyebrows. “And don’t forget, he died after that.”
Daisy whipped her head around and let her jaw drop open in disbelief. “Oh my god, Jemma.”
Her friend smiled. “Sorry. He jokes about it, so I’ve . . . picked up the habit.”
Laughing quietly, Daisy ran a hand over her face and sighed again.
Jemma finished braiding little Alya’s hair, and the girl scooted slowly over to her aunt, wrapping her little arms around Daisy’s neck.
“You excited to throw some flower petals around?” Daisy asked gently, rubbing the girl’s back.
“Sure,” Alya said. “I’m much more excited to see you in your dress, though.”
Daisy glanced sideways at Jemma and mouthed, “So cute!”
She was obviously no expert on kids, so every time Alya spoke, Daisy assumed it was the smartest, most adorable thing a seven-year-old could possibly say. And the little girl had easily charmed all her aunts and uncles, instantly, wrapping them around her little finger with no problem.
“Me too, girlfriend—I can’t wait,” she said and flopped backward onto the grass, causing Alya to laugh with delight as she fell.
.
.
“You should have seen his face when he gave me this,” Yoyo said with a smirk, as she handed a single flower to the almost-bride.
Daisy laughed and accepted the beautiful white daisy. “Does he know I already have a bouquet?”
“Yes, that’s why he was all sheepish and red,” Yoyo explained, unable to keep from laughing. “But he was very sincere too.”
Daisy grinned and imagined the smiling, nervous dork-face she was sure her fiancé had worn at the time. “Well, if you see him . . . tell him thanks. It’s pretty.”
Yoyo took the flower back, and before Daisy could protest, she had tucked it neatly into a section of her friend’s loosely braided hair. Yoyo smiled. “There. Now it’s even more pretty.”
Daisy turned to face the mirror at the corner of the room . . . and her breath caught in her throat.
It all struck her at once.
She was about to walk down that aisle filled with her closest friends and marry the only true love of her life.
How? How was it real?
Her gaze landed on the flower Elena had tucked into her hair, and tears pressed against the back of her eyes. She looked down and felt the soft satin of her white gown beneath her fingers . . . she clenched her fist.
This was real.
.
.
Daisy could have easily soared down the aisle.
The only thing anchoring her to the ground was Coulson’s arm . . . and even then, she almost lifted off the ground anyway.
With every step toward her fiancé, she became a little lighter . . . even lighter . . . until she was practically floating, unable to keep the stupid grin off her face. She wiped away a tear, handed her bouquet to Jemma, and grasped both of Daniel’s hands.
She hardly heard a word the entire ceremony.
All she could do was hold Daniel’s gaze and try not to break down and cry like a complete idiot. He looked about the same.
They had asked for short but sweet, and Coulson delivered.
The cold metal of the wedding band pulled Daisy further and further toward the sky. Daniel’s dark eyes brought her briefly back down to the ground . . . and she had to fumble for words.
When Coulson said those perfect, unimaginable words (“husband and wife”), Daisy leaned in to kiss her husband (she wanted to say that forever), and swore she broke through the atmosphere.
And as they walked back down the aisle, hand in hand, their friends whooping and cheering and clapping wildly, Daisy couldn’t see through the pure, unadulterated joy.
She soared.
With The World On Her Shoulders
Chapter 22: Sketchbook
Marinette felt sheer relief before realizing she was forgetting something.
“Oh!” She reached into her bag and grabbed the small, tightly wrapped gift, and handed it to Adrien. “I made you something.”
Adrien looked at her in shock before reaching out slowly to take the item. “Marinette. You didn’t have to do that.”
“I know. But I wanted to. I meant it when I said I appreciate your friendship. So, I thought that maybe you might like this.”
Adrien opened the gift to reveal a box filled with tightly wrapped-up notes. When Adrien looked up at her in confusion, she told him to grab one and read it.
Your presence lights up a room.
“When you said that your dad doesn’t appreciate you, or that you’re only a disappointment to your father even when you try your hardest, I realized that you aren’t really told how truly amazing you are. So… whenever you are having a bad day, or feel like you are less than worth it—even though you are worth so much more than you think you are—I want you to take a slip of paper from this box and read it. You’ll always have someone on your side, and you mean a lot to a lot of people, especially me, Nino, and Alya. I just don’t want you to forget that.”
Adrien didn’t know what to say. He pursed his lips as if to hold back a sob, then reached out and wrapped his arms around her to show her his gratitude. She hugged him back fiercely, radiating as much love as she could give him through the embrace, and they stood like that for a few moments until the bell rang.
Adrien pulled away first, wiping his cheek before placing the gift in his bag.
“Thanks, Marinette. That… that means a lot to me.”
“Don’t worry about it.” She smiled and knew it was time to change the subject for his sake. “Come on. Tell me something you love doing in your free time."
They walked into their classroom while having an actual two-way conversation together, talking about one of Adrien’s favorite anime that Marinette had yet to see. He was animatedly talking about the plot of the show without revealing too much, and she asked questions that seemed fitting without the fear of it being spoiled.
She laughed when he tried to mimic one of the characters: a big dopey, yet extremely sweet character who didn’t know this girl liked him until his best friend outright stated it. She said it sounded like someone she knew, and he couldn’t help but wonder out loud who she was talking about.
They looked at each other seriously for one moment before bursting out laughing, with Adrien finally acknowledging how he had no idea until she stated it the day before.
Marinette, surprisingly, wasn’t hurt over the acknowledgment and didn’t question it further in fear of finding out his true feelings. It didn’t matter to her at this moment if he actually returned her feelings, especially given that he knew the meanings of the flowers and chose them specifically for her. She just truly enjoyed hearing his laughter and seeing his carefree nature than trying to justify any of his actions.
It actually felt freeing knowing he knew of her feelings, but she couldn’t deny that the unknown still haunted her heart, even if it was just a tiny bit. But she swallowed that dark thought down to the pit of her stomach where she could digest it later and opted to hear him talk more about his likes and dislikes in the friendly banter they had done over the last ten minutes.
“My, my, my,” Alya said conspiratorially. There was a glint of mischievousness in her eyes as she searched between the two. “Look at you two being all chummy this morning.”
“Ha-ha.” Marinette retorted while making a face at Adrien at the same time, which he laughed in return. “I’m just talking to my very good friend about anime. Is it a crime to have a conversation with someone who shares the same interests as you?”
“Anime? God. You’re a dweeb too?” Alya turned to Adrien and shot him a bemused expression.
“Yup! And now I have someone to share my enthusiasm and maybe even dress up for conventions with.”
Marinette burst out laughing. “And now all I can see you in is a Sailor Moon’s outfit—knee-high stockings, long hair, and all.”
“Don’t tempt me with a good time, Marinette!” Adrien scrunched up his nose in laughter. “I’m a model, remember? I’ve worn some scandalous items—skirts included. I would so wear a Sailor Moon outfit and flaunt myself in a skirt. Oh! Maybe I could commission you for a Mars cosplay!”
“I do not want to see that, dude.” Nino shook his head to rid of the thought.
“Speaking of the upcoming convention…” Marinette laughed out as she pulled out her sketchbook along with her phone. She turned on the device and pulled up the image she saved on her photo album before opening up to a blank page of her sketchbook. “I’ve been meaning to get that costume started for my Homura Akemi cosplay. Have you seen Puella Magi Madoka Magica, Adrien?”
“No, not yet.” He took out his phone, opening up his notes app to write down the name of the series. “But I definitely will as soon as I finish My Love Story.”
“It’s so good.” She began to sketch up the dress, focusing on the pleats and ruffles of the skirt. “And that also means I need to create the shield, too, so I’m going to have to get some foam to create the intricate—”
Spilling across her page was a bottle of water, the entire second half of her book drenched in the cold liquid. Marinette shot up from her chair as quickly as she could, grasping onto her sketchbook to save it from any more spills, but the damage had been done.
Adrien shot up too, quickly trying to find a way to clean up the spill when he noticed who had “tripped” and spilled the water.
“Lila!”
“I’m so sorry Marinette! I didn’t mean to spill the water. It was an accident! I swear.”
Adrien shot her an annoyed glare as Marinette and Alya tried to sop up as much liquid as they could with her sweater. He noticed that she had taken off her blazer, using that as a makeshift rag as Nino left to gather some paper towels.
“Here, Marinette,” Adrien said as he handed her his overshirt, hoping that she would use it to help clean up.
“Oh, it’s okay, Adrien. Thank you. Nino just came back with the paper towels anyways.”
Adrien tossed his shirt on his desk behind him before gathering some of the paper towels to clean up the desk, while Marinette flipped through the sketchbook to see if and how many of her designs were ruined from the water.
Tears pricked her eyes as she noticed some of the ink running on some of her favorite pieces, and she couldn’t help but let out a wet sigh as she tried to keep herself composed.
Adrien noticed her demeanor and looked at the sketchbook, realizing that the ink was now running on many of the notes across the pages. He couldn’t help but see that there was one page in particular that stood out, a familiar design hidden in the seam of a scarf she had created. The note “Adrien” was written across the top of the page, the word almost unreadable with the wet streaks, but he couldn’t help but feel a pang of guilt as he realized something specific about that page.
He kept that thought in the back of his head as he helped her clean up, running a comforting hand up and down her arm as her lower lip trembled in heartache.
Clues to My Heart
 This is based off of a prompt I read from @thanks-captain-obvious back in December.
Thanks to @chocolate1721 and @2sunchild2 for finding all of my stupid mistakes.
---
Adrien didn’t know when he realized how cute Marinette was, but he came to realize that he was watching her a lot more than usual. He liked how when she was really deep into her designing zone, she stuck her tongue out in concentration. He adored how when she was getting nervous or embarrassed, she’d tug at one of her adorable pigtails.
As soon as he entered the classroom that morning, Marinette was making her way down the steps. She tripped over her own foot and went tumbling forward, a look of horror washed over her face as she went plummeting. Adrien bolted forward and caught her in his arms, causing them to be nose to nose, gazing deep into each other’s eyes. Adrien couldn’t help but stare into her large, sapphire blue eyes staring back at him.
“Are you okay?” He breathed out, feeling his cheeks burn from embarrassment as he steadied her, then took a quick step back. “Good thing I was there to catch you.”
“Lucky me. Thank you, Adrien.” Marinette gave that warm, perfect smile before she picked up the pencil she had dropped and returned to her seat.
    “Marinette looks really cute today.” Adrien mumbled to himself in an almost dreamy tone, quickly catching both Alya and Nino’s attention. Before the model could say another word, the duo grabbed him and dragged him to the back of the class, while Marinette was lost in her drawing in her sketchbook while she waited for class to notice them leave.
“You think she looks cute?” Alya pressed a hand to Adrien’s chest, giving him a stern look as her eyes watched his expression carefully. Then she saw the look he got on his face, the look she had seen on Marinette’s face for the past four years every time she thought, saw, or talked of Adrien. It was like seeing a little lovesick golden retriever and Alya wanted to laugh at the irony. But her eyes sparked with excitement at the thought of her ship finally, at long last, would come to life. “You need to tell her, Adrien.”
“Wh-what? No, I can’t do that, she thinks we’re just friends!” Adrien squeaked, drawing the attention of their other classmates. Thank God Lila was off on another one of her ‘trips’ in Brazil or whatever. Rose suddenly ripped part of her shirt, making sure it was a decently sized one before she darted down to Marinette, tapping her shoulder.
“Marinette, I ripped my favourite shirt! Do you have your sewing kit with you today?” Rose’s sweet voice took on a pleading tone as she grasped Marinette’s hand tightly, giving her a kind smile.
“Oh, I should have it in my locker, but class will be starting soon…” Marinette trailed off, but when she saw the pleading look on Rose’s face, she let out a defeated sigh and got up. “Alright, I’ll go grab it right quick. You don’t mind telling Miss Bustier, right?”
“Don't worry, Mari, we’ll cover you!” Kim called out, having a plotting grin on his face as well. The entire class had that look in their eyes, thinking something they had been hoping for for so long would finally come to light.
When Marinette did leave the room, everyone swarmed around Adrien with big goofy grins on their faces.
“Marinette has had a crush on you for years, dude.” Kim wrapped an arm around Adrien’s shoulder, grinning like a fool as everyone else nodded in agreement. ‘We kept quiet about it out of respect, but since you feel the same way…”
Adrien’s mind felt like it was suddenly spinning. Marinette liked him back. Marinette liked him, Adrien Agreste, while he had thought she had hated being anywhere near him! And here he thought that she had been in love with Luka…
“Marinette is quite romantic at heart.” Alya’s voice pushed away his thoughts and made him refocus on the conversations going on wildly around him. The reporter’s eyes were full of mischief and Adrien could practically see the gears turning in her head, her grin growing more and more devious. “You should do a grand gesture, Adrien, something that will sweep her off her feet. Then when she accepts your confession, it will be like a fairytale!”
“Like prince charming declaring his love for his princess.” Rose sighed dreamily and leaned into Juleka’s embrace, who kissed her forehead with a smile. “Oh Marinette would love that! She’s told all of us all of the things she’s wanted to do for you, Adrien, how many times she’s tried to confess…”
“How about a scavenger hunt?” Adrien blurted out, then felt his cheeks go rosy as he felt several eyes land on him, he gave a nervous smile as he ran his fingers through his hair. "You know, send her to places that were significant to her and I? Stuff like that?"
"That sounds pretty great, actually." Alix grinned as she thought it over before nodding. "Yeah, that'd kick ass."
With wide grins, the class began to plot the entire thing with a flustered, starry eyed Adrien.
They set it all up on Friday, so that if something went horribly wrong, they'd have the weekend to do damage control. Extra precautions never hurt anyone.
Alya managed to convince Marinette to clear her schedule for that evening, since she had a special game planned. Marinette, not wanting to turn her best friend down, wholeheartedly agreed. One afternoon never hurt anyway, she needed a bit of a break from everything that was going on.
As soon as the last class of the day ended, Alya handed the girl a piece of paper and told her to just follow the clues.
Marinette glanced down at the scrap of paper and carefully read the words.
'To where you have your secret Garden of inspiration, I often see your beautiful face light up in joy.'
Marinette's brows drew together at the wording of the note, then wracked her brain to where this 'garden of inspiration' could be. Then it hit her. The Trocadero.
She giggled as she made her way towards the location, curious at what kind of games Alya was playing. Her friend always came up with these random types of things on occasion, so she didn't look too much into it.
Marinette quickly arrived at the Trocadero, then smiled to herself as she made her through the crowd, enjoying the activity of people around her. She hadn't been here in months and she had missed it greatly.
"Excuse me, Miss Marinette?" The girl blinked and turned, seeing a tall, lanky looking woman stride up to her, holding a pink envelope. The woman grinned and tipped her tiny top hat as she held out the envelope. "I have your next clue."
"Oh, thank you." Marinette took the envelope and opened it, scanning the contents of what was written.
'While pyjamas were not the right thing to wear, so to say
Seeing that movie with you made my day.'
Marinette glanced heavenward, silently groaning at the state of these riddles. Alya certainly wasn't at her best today.
Besides, Marinette could think of only one movie she had seen in her pyjamas that wouldn't be appropriate, so she made her way to the cinema. While very glad she hadn't made many plans that evening, this scavenger hunt seemed to be taking her all over Paris. As soon as she saw the cinema in sight, she picked up the pace,
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" A tall man wearing a suit strode over, holding out a familiar looking pink envelope. He gave her a jovial grin and bowed. "I hope you find your next location swiftly."
"Thank you very much." Marinette called out, then had to chuckle at the outfits these clue holders had to wear. Fancy suits and top hats were a bit much, how had Alya been able to pay for all of this?
'To where we first met, with gum on the seat
To think today, you make my heart skip a beat.'
"Tikki, I can't quite make this one out." Marinette sighed as she made her way down the street, Tikki poking her head out of Marinette's purse. "I think it means DuPont, I mean, that's where I first met Alya."
"Are you sure these are from Alya, Marinette? Maybe they're from someone else." Tikki smiled up at her chosen, having a fair idea who exactly these clues and this entire scheme was from, but she decided to keep quiet about it. It was best to simply let Marinette experience this on her own, have a bit of fun for once in a while.
So Marinette jogged her way towards DuPont, beaming as she reminisced in the memories. This was the starting place for everything in her life; her friends, her designing career, her backbone, and even becoming Ladybug.
This place was special to her. So imagine her surprise when she neared the front of the school and heard the sound of a bell. She stopped, and watched in surprise as Andre's ice cream cart made its way towards her, Andre having a huge smile on his face. He stopped right in front of Marinette, blocking her view of DuPont.
"Hello, my dear Marinette. It has been so long and look at you! Grown into a beautiful flower and who knows? Perhaps she will see her soulmate very soon" Andre said cheerfully, hugging the surprised girl, before giving her a long, calculated look. He had a gift, a gift of seeing one's soulmate. And Mr. Adrien Agreste had begged the man to be at the front of DuPont Françoise to give Marinette a serving of ice cream to show her who her soulmate was.
And who was Andre to get in the way of love? He had happily agreed, so eager to bring two souls together that were meant to be, bound by the red string of fate.
"Matcha for the eyes that makes your heart flutter, blackberry for his life cast in such chaos, and strawberry for the lips that makes you stutter." Andre said cheerily as he scooped up the ice cream, noting as the girl took out her phone and replying to a text, then happily handed it to Marinette, then patting her gently on the cheek. "I see great happiness for the two of you, for you both see each other with a love so true."
With that, Andre let her by, motioning her to the steps of DuPont. Marinette, considering just to go with it, took a taste of the delicious ice cream and went on her way, not before giving Andre a gracious thank you.
What she saw at the top of the steps of her old middle school was not what she had been expecting. She had been expecting Alya and a few of their friends with some weird prize or an explanation to all of this.
Instead there stood Adrien, holding a bouquet of roses and dressed dark khakis and a button up shirt. At the sight of her, his smile grew and his cheeks reddened, his excitement skyrocketing once he saw the colours of her ice cream. The rest of the class stood around him, looking eager as they took a few steps back as Marinette began to ascend the stairs.
"Adrien, were you the one behind all of this?" Marinette smiled at the blushing model, taking another spoonful of her ice cream, noting Alya recording them from the corner of her eye. "I have to say, that was a pretty impressive scavenger hunt you did. What's my prize?"
The words caused Adrien's blush to get worse and he began to fiddle with the bouquet, trying to get out the speech he had practiced over and over in his head.
“Marinette… I um… I’ve always thought of you as a friend, you know? But not just any friend, my best friend actually…You’re just…” He tightened his grip on the bouquet. “You’re just so amazing, and kind, and wonderful. You’re like an everyday Ladybug to us, always there to help, even when it’s for something really stupid. And you’re always there for me… I’ve been told you’ve done a few things for me that I’ve … I may have been too blind to notice. It uh, it took me until today to realize that you’re the most important person in my life. You’re the first one to really, truly understand me."
"Oh Adrien, that's so sweet. You're just as great, you're always so kind. That's what I love about you." Marinette smiled her brilliant smile and Adrien felt his heart thundering in his chest. Her words gave him courage and he puffed out his chest.
Finally, he'd tell his Princess exactly how he felt.
Many of the girls squealed and hugged each other, while the guys gave Adrien thumbs-ups or fist bumped each other.
"Marinette Dupain-Cheng, I- I am in l- love.."
The revving of an engine cut him off, making the entire class stare as an expensive looking motorcycle parked at the base of the school steps.
The tall figure on the bike got off and took off his helmet. Adrien met the most piercing pair of green eyes he had ever seen. The young man was handsome, with spiky black hair and a jawline that could certainly cut glass.
"Who is he?" Alya whispered to Nino as the guy set down his helmet and seemed to wave at the group, a smile crossing his handsome face. "Does anyone here know him?"
As everyone began to give their negatives, Adrien watched as Marinette's face lit up and she bolted down the stairs.
"Damian, you're here!" She cried as she launched herself into the guy -Damian's- arms, though was careful not to spill her ice cream. She giggled as he kissed her cheek, then kissed his in return. "I was afraid you wouldn't be able to find the place."
"You do give perfect directions, Angel, I was able to find it easily enough." The two of them shared a quick kiss and Adrien felt his heart drop to the floor and shatter.
"Marinette, who is this?" Alya piped up, carefully putting away her phone as she made her way down the steps, everyone else following suit.
"Oh, sorry Al, this is my boyfriend, Damian. He's visiting this week from America." Marinette beamed as Damian casually wrapped an arm around her waist. "I was going to introduce you all to him once we got him settled."
"You have a boyfriend?!" Adrien blurted out before he could stop himself, then flushed in embarrassment as Marinette and Damian focused their gazes on him, the former curious and the latter observant. "I mean, um, you've never mentioned him before…"
"Well, we met a few years ago, around our second year at DuPont actually, when I went away for the summer with my grandmother, and we kinda hit it off." Marinette explained happily, holding up her ice cream to allow Damian to have a taste.
The second year of their time at DuPont Françoise.
The very year he began to date Kagami in order to get over Ladybug.
Oh.
Oh no.
"Really? I thought you were still keeping your eye out for someone." Alya motioned towards Adrien with her eyes, only earning a small, though slightly tired smile from Marinette.
"Well I decided that you can't wait around for miracles to never happen." Marinette shrugged, and Damian met Adrien's gaze. Then he merely rose a brow and smirked a bit.
Those who acted too slowly lost the game.
"Anyway, that was a fun game, Adrien, I had a lot of fun. Now Damian and I have to get back to the bakery, Papa wanted to show him how to make the perfect palmier tonight to finally outclass Alfred's cooking." Marinette tossed the empty cone into the nearby trash, then caught the helmet that Damian tossed her. The couple shared another soft kiss before both got on the bike.
Marinette gave her friends one final wave before Damian drove off, leaving the class in stunned silence.
Adrien watched dejectedly as the girl he had fallen in love with drove off with her new boyfriend.
But he had seen the colours of her ice cream, that meant he was her soulmate.
That he wasn't too late, that maybe… He still had a chance with her?
Right?
